I almost forgot to mention but I absolutely love your use of Allura (specifically in the sickfic of Lance trying to be quiet-) cuz not many people portray her as gentle or even nice when writing Langst! I cry from happiness when people have the /entire/ team acting nice to him yessssssss
Aw, thank you so much!
I’ve said it before, but I honestly think that all the characters in the show are doing their best with a shitty situation and while they’re not always going to be nice to each other in the moment, it’s not like they really want anything bad to happen to one another. They really care for each other, Allura included–Allura especially! The paladins are her family now. She may get irritated, but that’s only because they have such an important job and she needs to crack down on a bunch of homesick, traumatized kids to make sure they can do that job without dying. That’s a rough position, and you’re not always going to be able to be the good guy when you’re put in that position.
I think Allura makes a lot of sacrifices, too, in order to do play her part in saving the universe. She CAN’T be their friend–she has to be their leader, the disciplinary figure. They have to see her as a trainer and as a princess and as a commander. She obviously likes hanging out with the paladins–she wants all their gossip and she was laughing during the food fight–but she makes the sacrifice of her own playful side in order to be their leader. And I think that makes her an awesome character.
Also canonically, when Lance was down/injured/unconscious early in season one, even though Shiro is the first one to reach him, ALLURA is the first one to call out his name in fear. She worries. She cares. She just can’t afford to show that side of herself all the time. Because she’s too busy being a badass. But it’s still there.
