i still like this series though

thefandomsawaken  asked:

My favorite book series are "A Court of Thorns and Roses" by Sarah J. Mass and "The Seven Realms" by Cinda Williams Chima. I was curious if you've read them or what your favorite series/books are?

I have heard about ACOTAR (is that how people say it?), but haven’t read it. I did start her Throne of Glass series, though, and liked it back then. Haven’t read Chima’s series either, though I’ve heard her name often. Will add both to my listttt!

I started reading for pleasure as a kid with Harry Potter (should be no secret on this blog tbh lol) but then I jumped straight into high fantasy, so the Wheel of Time was my jam during my teen years and I still love it, even if it’s like 300 billion pages and words long. The Green Rider series by Kristen Britain is also a loved one. Then there’s The Stormlord series by Glenda Larke, An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir is always A++ (still haven’t read the second one oops)… let’s see…
The Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo is seriously a fantastic series, and as a standalone The Night Circus by  Erin Morgernstern is always a favorite. The Magician’s Guild by Trudi Canavan was p. great, and basically anything by Neil Gaiman. I’m in the process of rereading The Ocean at the End of the Lane, as well as starting American Gods (and excited to see the tv show!)

Stieg Larsson’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series = great. I remember enjoying it a lot even though it was sort of a new thing for me. I’m also a chicken and can’t handle scary stories but I did read Under The Glass Dome by Stephen King and had nightmares after so ey, great shit.

Yuri on Ice interview translation - PASH! 2017/03 (p10-11)

The second part of the episode commentary by Mitsurou Kubo! I have now fixed it with all the italic & bold parts as in the magazine (in the magazine they are actually bold & bolder). If you have any questions please send me a private message and I’ll reply when I have some time.

You can find the first commentary about episodes 1-6 here.

Just a note: when she quotes lines from the episodes I’m not using any of the “official” English translations, I’m translating them as I would translate them myself, so they might not be like you are used to hear them, but I think you will understand which lines they are anyway.

The translation is under the cut because it’s long.

okay hear me out:

you know those photo series that are like “In The Running For The Next Spiderman/Young Han Solo/Bachelor/Prince Eric/Property Brother”

and it’s just like nine generically handsome brunet white men that might all be Henry Cavill or might all be Matt Bomer or might all be the photogenic runner guy from 2012 for all we know but it’s impossible to tell because they are just so generic?

and you know how nobody really remembers what Moist von Lipwig (slash Albert Spangler where applicable) actually looks like, they just remember the gold hat, or the glasses, or the bountiful ear hair?

what I want is an adaptation where Moist, whenever he’s being an anonymous face or The Man in the Golden Suit or Albert Spangler, is played by a series of generically handsome brunet white men who are swapped out shot-to-shot.

As she worked, she remembered something her parents had said to her when Klaus was born, and again when they brought Sunny home from the hospital. “You are the eldest Baudelaire child,” they had said, kindly but firmly. “And as the eldest, it will always be your responsibility to look after your younger siblings. Promise us that you will always watch out for them and make sure they don’t get into trouble.” Violet remembered her promise, and thought of Klaus, whose bruised face still looked sore, and Sunny, dangling from the top of the tower like a flag, and began working faster. Even though Count Olaf was of course the cause of all this misery, Violet felt as if she had broken her promise to her parents, and vowed to make it right.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Chapter Twelve: The Patronus

“EXPECTO PATRONUM!” Harry bellowed. “EXPECTO PATRONUM! EXPECTO PATRONUM!”

The screaming inside Harry’s head had started again — except this time, it sounded as though it were coming from a badly tuned radio — softer and louder and softer again — and he could still seethe dementor — it had halted — and then a huge, silver shadow came bursting out of the end of Harry’s wand, to hover between him and the dementor, and though Harry’s legs felt like water, he was still on his feet — though for how much longer, he wasn’t sure —

Things I’d like to see on Booklr
  • Reviews for backlist books. I don’t care if you’re reading something old for the first time. You just read Sabriel by Garth Nix? Or the Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta?  Or maybe Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz? DO A REVIEW FOR IT! Maybe it’s not the newest and hottest book right now, but there are so many older novels to discover and reviews help that!
  • Buzz for non-YA novels. I love the Young Adult genre/age group. But there’s a TON of books that aren’t Young Adult that would be fun to discuss and share! Occasionally we get non-YA books that get popular because of their appeal to the YA audience (The Night Circus, Shades of Magic, Song of Achilles, etc) but I wanna hear about more! Tell me about the mystery you’re reading, the poetry book you picked up, the old sci-fi series you found on sale! There’s a lot of books out there! If YA isn’t your thing, no worries, I still want to see blogs and posts for books outside that area!
  • Support Reviews. I’m just as guilty of this. I don’t tend to reblog or like reviews, even though I constantly skim, read, and look at what bloggers have to say. Reviews are essential to book blogging in general and great for the book industry! We should reblog and comment on them more! Show reviews your support, that you’re out there reading what they have to say, let them know if you pick up the book or not, share the review so others see it and maybe discover their next favorite book!
  • Discussion Posts. I know that some say that longer posts just don’t work on tumblr, but I love seeing discussion posts and reviews on booklr! Wordpress blogs are more likely to have discussion posts or just longer posts about books and stuff in the community, but I would love to see this stuff on here to. The fun thing about tumblr is it’s a very versatile blogging platform, from just reblogging to adding your own content into the community. Maybe we’ve all skipped over a long post because “TL;DR” but I think that reblogs and comments are perfect for talking and adding to discussion posts, so why don’t we all utilize it more?
  • Support non-English Readers! Every time I see a photo of a book that’s not in English, I notice that it has significantly fewer notes than of pictures of that book in English. I’m not sure what’s up with that? A lot of times you can recognize the book because the covers are the same, it just happens to have the title in Russian or Spanish or whatever language. Lots of people don’t read in English and that’s GREAT! There’s a lot of languages out there and those who read in their native language deserve support for their blog too! (Obviously)
  • REBLOG REBLOG REBLOG. bookavid used to talk about this sometimes, but likes aren’t always great for bloggers. I put a LOT of love and work into my blog and so does everyone else in the community. We work hard on posts, reviews, and photos! Reblog them if you like them! That lets us know you like what we’re doing and more people see it and we feel validated for our hard work. It’s always depressing when I post something and it gets 10 likes so I post it again and wonder if people don’t like it? Is it worth putting the work into if no one sees it or seems to care? I know some people try to stick to the theme of their blog but when you can, support bloggers and reblog instead of just liking it and scrolling on!

I know booklr has felt dead recently, but I’m not giving up until you pry this blog from my cold dead hands! Reach out, talk to people, let me know if you want me to check out your blog, talk to me about books, talk to other people about books, make posts even if you feel your blog is small and unimportant (it’s not, fyi). I love this community and I want to see it thriving again! I want to talk to you guys, hear your thoughts, get recommendations, and make friends

-Dakota

P.S. What do you want to see more of on booklr?? Comment, reblog, message me, let me know 😄

Yuri on Ice interview translation - Animage 2017/01 (p20-23)

I was going to post this last week but gave priority to the BD stuff. This will be the final interview from the booklet that came with January Animage! There’s still an interview with Kenji Miyamoto left untranslated, but it will be taken care of by @whiteboxgems whenever she has time! I’ll reblog it when it’s around.

This is actually 2 interviews, I’m posting them together because they were one after the other and (main reason) because the second one is very short.
A few notes below to better understand the interviews.

The first one is with Yuuichirou Hayashi, the one who created the ending (ED = ending by the way) footage. I have the feeling someone previously posted translations of the captions under the ED screenshots, but I don’t remember where and I’m pretty sure it was just the captions and not the interview parts, so here you have it complete. This one is pretty interesting because he explains in detail how they created the ED, and has some extra information on cut scenes etc. Definitely a must read in my opinion!

The second one is a short interview with Kayoko Ishikawa, the one who did the costume designs. Here you might think: didn’t Chacott design the costumes? I’ll explain. It’s more or less like with Mitsurou Kubo and Tadashi Hiramatsu: Kubo created the original designs for the characters, from scratch, and Hiramatsu transformed them into designs specifically created for animation, therefore with simpler lines, detailed expression sheets and so on. Likewise, Chacott did the original designs for the costumes, from scratch, based on the indications by Yamamoto and Kubo, and then the anime’s costume designer simplified and modified them so that they would be suitable to be animated. (Before actually animating them there’s a further step: the anime’s color designer is going to decide the exact colors, shadows and highlights included, that will be used inside the anime. I translated an interview with the color designer Izumi Hirose some time ago)

I usually don’t add pictures but this time I felt that it would be better to add them as an immediate reference. However, they are just for reference and are not meant to be visually stunning, so please bear with the quality because I just took photos of the magazine with my phone and quickly edited them.

Translation under the cut! (kind of image-heavy)

Thank you for the amazing update! I'm curious; while you gave us a good idea of what drunk Yuuri was yelling about at the party with the 'you' and the observation that it sounded like a series of insults, did you have in mind exactly what Yuuri was saying? Or just the general gist since nobody in the fic knows (and will never find out anyway)?

Lol will Yuuri’s yelling in Japanese forever remain a mystery?? ;)

Are we ever going to know what yuuri said when he was drunk?

———-

I wont write it out exactly but the general gist of it was:

Yuuri’s face contorted in an instant, eyes narrowing and mouth twisting into an almost snarl as he called something sharp and harsh in an unfamiliar language across the room, eyes still looking directly at Viktor. Despite not understanding a single one of the few words that Yuuri had just said, from the tone and his accusatory pointing finger Viktor was pretty sure that the words would translate into something very similar to a version of ‘you’ that was very far from polite.

This is pretty much exactly what it looks like, Yuuri is pointing at Viktor and saying something along the lines of ‘you! Hey, you’ in a rude way.

“Ignoring his hesitant words of greeting Yuuri snapped out another tumbled string of syllables in the same foreign language as his first.”

Here Yuuri is telling a brief summary of why he hates Viktor, something along the lines of ‘yeah, you! you called me fat and didn’t think I could be a skater. How do you like me now asshole?’

At Viktor’s lack of response Yuuri yelled something else that sounded suspiciously like a series of insults

Again, this is exactly what it looks like. Viktor isn’t responding so drunk!Yuuri is just generally insulting him like ‘you’re so arrogant and I hate you’ etc

Viktor turned back to Yuuri who was still slumped in his arms, glaring up at Viktor, mumbling something in Japanese and poking Viktor sharply in the chest

Here Yuuri’s kind of mellowed out slightly because he’s yelled most of the actual insults his drunk mind can think of so now he’s saying more along the lines of ‘I hate you and your stupid skating and your pretty face’

After some manoeuvring he managed to get Yuuri back on his feet again but the other man ended up clinging to his shoulder, half draped over Viktor as he continued to drunkenly rant at the man he had plastered himself too, feet too unsteady to stand on his own.

“Here Yuuri is ranting about his feelings basically. Something along the lines of ‘I hate how you always beat me and now I beat you and you didn’t even stick around to see it and it’s not fair, why did you just leave?’

Yuuri mumbled something else that was definitely not in English and finally stopped ranting, resting his head on Viktor’s shoulder with a yawn and sounding considerably less angry than he had a few seconds before.

But at least you’re here now

Every now and again he tossed another couple of words at Viktor but they sounded as though they had much less bite to them as before.

‘I still hate you, you know.’ etc but much less mean and more of an afterthought

Instead he simply wound his arms around Viktor’s neck and buried his face into his shoulder, muttering something else that Viktor couldn’t quite make out.

This is where he started to get into sappy territory, when Viktor picked him up. Something like ‘you feel really nice’

And then obviously he finally starts talking in English

Q: This will be my third interview with the two of you after the re-run “View from the Top,” and “Karasuno, Revival!”

Kenta: Whoo! [applause] Thank you each and every time!

Hogwarts School Uniform

The other day I read a series of posts on the Hogwarts uniform and how book!uniform differs from movie!uniform, which is more canonical and whether there’s been/there should be some retconning to unify the books, films and illustrations from different sources. Since wizarding fashion is one of my favourite subjects (particularly since the word “corsets” was mentioned in HBP), I thought I had to write a post about it. So here it goes.

On tradition and unmuggleness

As much as I like the movie uniforms, the way I see it, they’re irreconcilable with those described in the books, which, both because they’re from the book and because that’s how I see them in my head, I consider canonical. Most people point out as proof of this that in a couple of occasions we are told more or less directly that the basic (I’ll talk more about this later) uniform does not bear any house indicator (see the Penelope Clearwater and Crabbe-and-Goyle’d Ron-and-Harry Cases, both in CoS). This is true. However, what I see as a bigger issue is the fact that the movie!uniform is basically a muggle school uniform with robes instead of a blazer, which, considering how often we see wizards struggling with muggle clothing, doesn’t really add up. And given that school uniforms tend to be on the conservative side of fashion, it would make much more sense to have the Hogwarts uniform resemble traditional wizarding attire.

On openings and trouserslessness

The movie robes are completely open at the front save for one (PoA-onwards) or two (PS-CoS) little clasps, which would take next to no time to do up and undo, so the movie robes would be put on and off like a bathrobe or a coat. However, most (if not all) of the times we see Harry changing into his school robes he’s described as pulling them over his head. To me that implies that the front is not open all the way down, that maybe there’s just a small opening with a few buttons, like a polo shirt. Either that or the robes are open all the way down but fastening and unfastening them is so tedious that students simply never do them up or undo them all the way. In a pre-zipper world, a front opening like that would most probably mean a metric tonne of little buttons, at least (look up some old-timey portraits, particularly of women’s fashion. They took their buttons seriously). No one has time to fiddle with that many buttons, so it would be easier to undo a few of the top ones and pull the robes over your head.

Personally, I think the left-hand version fits the description of “plain black work robes” better. And yes, there’s no indication anywhere in the books that the sleeves are flared or gathered at the top, but they look more wizardy this way, so.

For an even more undeniable piece of evidence that supports the idea of having a closed front, look no further than Snape’s worst memory in OotP. When he gets levicorpused by James, we see his underwear. He’s not wearing trousers. Wh. Why is he not wearing trousers??? Because there’s no risk of accidental exposure of one’s undergarments when there isn’t a massive opening on the front of one’s robes, that’s why. Also, if for some sinister reason he had not been wearing trousers under open-fronted robes, everybody would’ve been able to see his pants already and it wouldn’t have been “funny” when James revealed them.

Moreover, it seems that trousers, even though they are worn in the wizarding world, are neither required nor part of traditional wizarding attire. See the old man at the Quidditch World Cup. Trousers have been adopted to some extent, but they are not considered wizarding clothing per se, but rather a garment borrowed from muggles. So if we go back to the idea that uniforms tend to be conservative, the Hogwarts uniform would have probably been designed to be worn with no clothes underneath other than underwear.

On hats gone with the wind and cloaks

Hats. “One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear.” Day wear. In the films (PS, basically), hats seem to only be worn on special occasions. And I can understand that; On set they’re probably a huge inconvenience as they like to fall off and have to be touched up constantly and may cover something/someone important. Still, canonically, a pointed black hat for day wear is part of the Hogwarts uniform.

Now, do not quote me on this, but I am positive that in one of the books there is a description of a windy day where students grab the brims of their hats so that they don’t get blown off. That’s the one and only time in the whole series (that I can remember) where the uniform hats are said to be brimmed. It makes sense, though, as traditional witch hats do have a brim. Modest brims seem adequate for uniforms. (I do think it is strange to make students wear hats indoors, but oh well.)

(Edit:  ‘ “Maybe I’ll skive off Divination,” he said glumly as they stood again in the courtyard after lunch, the wind whipping at the hems of robes and brims of hats.’ - OotP, chapter 17)

Then there’s the winter cloaks. Again, plain and black, this time with silver clasps. No crest, no house colours. And there’s also the protective dragonskin gloves, which seem to be used both as protective gloves for Potions/Care of Magical Creatures/Herbology and as regular winter gloves.

On house pride (or the lack thereof)

So far we have established that the uniform consists basically of plain black garments: a set of black robes (closed front), a black cloak, a black hat. Hence, by default, there is no way to tell what house a student belongs to just by their attire. Or is there? Here’s where the “basic uniform” I mentioned  before comes into play.

It is true that the robes, hats and cloaks are plain black when bought. And yet, there are many points in the story when Harry seems to simply know what house some students belong to, even when he clearly doesn’t know them. We get constant references to “a gorup of first year Ravenclaws” or “a Hufflepuff girl”, and since the story is told from Harry’s point of view rather than an omniscient narrator’s, there must be a way for Harry to tell apart people from different houses without knowing them personally. So how can we reconcile the ideas that some people’s house is recognisable at first sight while other people’s isn’t? It’s quite simple: CUSTOMISATION.

Bagdes, scarves, appliques, ribbons, hat ornaments, buttons, socks, belts, and a long etc, to show your house pride. Just as we can get jumpers and hoodies and caps and whatnot with the name and colours of our uni or specific college, kids in the wizarding world are probably able to buy (and make) house merchandise. These items would be available at Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, and parents would send them to their children once they’ve been sorted or the kids themselves would be able to get them via owl order.

Some students may only wear a small badge on their chest. Others a scarf+turtleneck undershirt+bandana+animal-shaped hat bauble combo. I love to imagine some kids wearing ridiculously tacky things, like red-and-gold neck ruffles or bee-striped boots. And those kids who are not as inclined to show off their house? They can just wear their basic black uniform.

Weirdling Witchcraft Grimoire: Introduction

I’m an eclectic witch, more or less. My personal practices are a hodge-podge of things I’ve picked up all over the place, peppered with my own ideas, obsessions, and twists on things. Over time, all that different stuff has simmered and condensed into a thick, pungent stew with a particular flavor of its own. I’ve decided to call this concoction “weirdling witchcraft”.

I’m not entirely sure many other people will like the taste of this particular woo-woo stew, but I’m gonna share it anyway…just in case.

Now, the tough part. Actually defining the thing.

Ah, er…ok.

Weirdling witchcraft is, more or less, the practice of strategically suspending your belief in reality. What the flying fox-nuggets do I mean, you ask? Well, I’ll attempt to tell you.

As humans, our perception of all that surrounds us is very limited, and our understanding of “reality” is little more than a rough framework, hand-holds in the darkness. Through science, we’re able to illuminate little patches, but even light leaves things unseen, and the darkness of the unknown stretches on into infinity.

All that, the unknown, the unknowable, is the stuff of magick. As witches and practitioners of the occult, we are largely differentiated by our varied modes of not only defining it, but perceiving, shaping, and interacting with it.

Weirdling witchcraft, in particular, is about celebrating it.

It’s about living with the viewpoint that nothing is truly mundane. Existence itself is a marvel and a mystery. We move through layers of reality both seen and unseen, all of it tangled together into a greater whole.

To be a weirdling witch is to live amidst and as a part of all that with an open mind, a sense of wonder and a spirit of exploration. To perceive the world as a magickal and alien place and to experience it as best I can, while at the same time maintaining the kind of practicality required to take care of myself within whatever framework I’m currently existing.

If that’s about as clear as mud (or if it just sounds like general occultism), I apologize. However, this is officially the first in what’s going to be a series of posts describing my path and the practices and ideas that define it. Don’t worry, though. I’ll still be posting mostly sigils :P

Alright people. I’ve been seeing so many posts of “OMG the RTTE animation is so horrible compared to the movies” and “Give us the better animation DreamWorks!” also “The animation is so crappy if they’re going to make a show why not actually make it good” and more and more hate comments about the shows animation.

People. Think about this for just a couple of minutes, and then you’re opinion may change.

So, animators usually have a couple of years to work on a movie, and it took five years to make HTTYD 2. Guys, now compare that to how long RTTE animators have to animate thirteen, 25 minute long episodes. They have only about half a year to do that people! A half a year to animate 325 minutes of 3d animation! Do you really expect the animation to be spot on perfect when they only have that much time to do so much? That’s what the movies are for. If you want a really high definition, lots of detail and all that DreamWorks awesomeness, go watch HTTYD and HTTYD 2. The tv show is awesome as well, and the latest season was terrific. You can tell that the animation and effects have been improved, and even though it’s still not nearly as good as “the movies” that hasa to be expected. The series is terrific given to the amount of time they have, and I think we should be thankful that DreamWorks takes the time and effort to make it for us. So please, stop complaining. If you don’t like the animation, stop watching it and stop complaining. You can complain once, but stop complaining over and over everywhere you go about it. The show isn’t bad, and although it may not be “terrific” like the original movies, the tv show is still good. The storyline and plot is awesome, and the animation is really good, compared to some of the crappy 2d animation we have today. (I have nothing against 2d animation, actually, I like it just as much as 3d, I’m talking about some of the other Nickalodean tv shows) So please, be grateful to the writers and animators for doing such an awesome job on the time they have.

Thank you DreamWorks for Race to the Edge, especially season 4. You made me proud. :D

  33.  Happy together - loved the couple sooo much! being 6 years together, those fights and make-ups seems like a typical married life
  34. Oppressive Love - half-horror and half BL and they actually became a couple! to bad the older brother had to possess him…ooops spoiler ;-P
  35.  Ai no kotodama 2
  36. ***Bad romance the series - another side story BL but because they started the series already together and the ending was so sweet so it is okay.
  37. ***I’m here our twelve years is a reincarnation legend - short shounen ai chinese BL. if you’re on to watching just the sweet, innocent stuff, then this is good for you :)
  38.  Takuya and Joon jae “the lover” - you may be a bit disappointed because it is missing some smexy moments like kissing and “you-know” but the story is great with lots of laughs and sweetness. hoping for season 2
  39. ***Love Complex - this is a thai series but the BL part is a side story and doesn’t develop much though it is still on the first two episodes. some of you may not like it because it is on a side story but promise, the main story is very funny.
  40.  Docchi mo Docchi - may be low budget, but that romcom theme was perfectly executed xD sooo funny xD
  41.  Itsuka no kimi e - loved the story so much. It was like reading Junjou Pure Heart again xD soooo cute! Wishing for more kiss scenes though.
  42.  Ai no kotodama 1
  43.  Seven Days Monday-Thursday, Friday-Sunday - perfectly executed as of those of the manga
  44. Hollyoaks (Ste and Harry) - lots of problems; closet gay, HIV, parents are against, even teachers then there are also cocaine involvement. wut?! haha but the story and how they still get back together is what makes it great.
  45.  Diary of Tootsies - Very very funny!! as in very funny! but they left Gus and Top’s story hanging, which is what I’ve been waiting…sigh
  46.  Fujimi orchestra live action - it’s like the BL version of Nodame Cantabile. the movie needs a sequel. it’s not that they did not end up together but the movie ended with the seme still pursuing the uke xD
  47.  Go go go G boys - very funny, packed with hot bishies. Last part after credits is a must seen
  48. Farewell my ghost boyfriend - short movie. I’m not on vote on the new ship. i still wish there was some kind of miracle for the ghost. huhu
  49.  Love Place - I preferred the part two (2) than the first one, more Bl action, though it is still not translated
  50.  Boku no Kareshi wo Shoukai Shimasu - was hoping for more kiss scenes xD
  51.  Gloomy Salad days - ep13-14 only. Hidoku Shinaide story, bully and the bullied. You’ll be hoping for more.
  52.  Love of Siam - honestly, a good plot, really. It just needs some tweaks on that bad ending, urgh. Hoping for season 2 to change it.
  53. I’m yours - a one-sided love of a robot to a human and he’s quest to help the guy to achieve love. it was badly cut, I don’t know. it was missing some parts when I watched it so I am still heavily confused.
  54.  Love next door 2 - Watched XD but still looking for subs. but very promising especially in terms of comedy and hotness.
  55.  Mr x and I - First Season: First and Second story only, the other two has horrible ending, I advise this to those who do not wish to see a sad ending. Second Season: Loved the ending, hated the hetero guy, urggghh
  56.   Princess Princess D - actually, this is a live action adapted from a shoujo manga. full of fanservice and crossdressers and will leave you laughing at the clichès and corniness.
  57.  Love next door - the story escalated quickly and the ‘love’ (sweetness) I was searching for was too short in the plot.
  58.  A Pair of Love - so-so xD
  59.  Time line - Watch the first couple only, and/or the last one. never ever the second one, it still gives me goose bumps till now
  60. Me my familiar people - uhhh…actually I didnt quite get the story. it was soo confusing. its like he has s*x to another then I don’t know maybe his bestfriend too?
  61.  Teacher and student - because I was expecting that light, romantic theme I was deeply disappointed by that twist as it turns out to be too psychological. One of my least favorites next to Kindan no Koi.
  62.  Kindan no koi - simple……i hated it. the plot twist at the end was just tooo much, really, too much. Still a good movie though, but definitely my least favorite.

This is an edited list XD those with *** are newly posted as of April 4. Will update for more lateerrr! Ask me for links if ever you are interested xDDD hehehe

I can’t wait for The Penultimate Peril though, like…everyone the Baudelaires have ever met coming to the hotel, the “WRONG!” clock, KIT SNICKET, Esmé’s lettuce leaves (and Violet’s reaction), the trial, the harpoon gun, Dewey, THE ENDING OKAY. THE ENDING.

Chapter 20: Death, Dildos and Disappointment

The more I think about chapter 20 the cleverer it becomes. After chapter 19 I was so convinced that sex would be used to reward Bum and to a certain extent I think it was, only the trope was subverted. Instead of being rewarded, Bum was punished.

I think for Sangwoo he had been so excited to share the murder of Jieun with Bum and in his head he put all this effort and planning into it. He expected Bum to be grateful. I think a great deal of his attraction to Bum is based on how ‘similar’ they are. So Sangwoo thought Bum would enjoy what happened to Jieun the same way he does. Jieun’s murder was a romantic offering designed to bring them closer together. Bum’s reaction however is so far removed from that and Sangwoo can’t handle it so obviously Bum has to leave. The whole plan backfired.

Although I think Bum’s reaction to run back inside the house shows there’s a definite shift within his wants. He’s gone from trying to run away to run towards and I feel like that’s foreshadowing for how Sangwoo and Bum’s relationship is going to develop over the season. I also think it’s what quells Sangwoo’s temper tantrum. It’s a clear show from Bum that he wants to stay with Sangwoo and appeals to his superiority complex. However Bum has still disappointed him immensely and so he doesn’t deserve a reward. I can’t tell how planned the dildo scene was on Sangwoo’s part, it was very much visible the entire time but then I also think the positioning of Bum’s as got him inspired.

Originally I was surprised by the lack of preparation, I mean Sangwoo never struck me as a sexual sadist and to be fair most situations we’ve seen him in have been pretty vanilla. On second reading though, I think it was part of the punishment. Earlier on in the series Sangwoo hurt Bum all the time until he learned to behave essentially like his mother. The entire interaction is Sangwoo acting out his disappointment using the only currency he thinks Bum understands (this is still the night of the festival so the toilet scene blow job recently happened). Not to sound like a terrible internet meme but Sangwoo knows Bum wants his dick so the best punishment is to use what he imagined was him so many times and humiliate him with his desire. While the added pain is to make Bum feel as bad as Sangwoo does.

Finally the fixation on 'murderer Bum’ I think is just to break him enough that he will accept the life Sangwoo has chosen for him. I’m not a big fan of the Sangwoo setting Bum up to take the fall theories because I just don’t think he’s that clever. All in all I think Koogi took a well executed step away from predictability with this chapter and I’m excited for next week.

I have exciting news, Tumblr friends!!!

After years of blood, sweat, and tears (and multiple false starts and discarded manuscripts), I’m finally going to be self-publishing my first novel this year! And I officially have a book cover for it, so it’s really a real thing that’s happening!!!

And it wouldn’t be happening without all the encouragement and support I’ve found through fandom here and on other forums over the years.

It’s based on one of my AU fics, so the story will be familiar to some of you (although I’ve added about 25k-30k new words to it). Remember awhile back, when I warned that I might have to take down some of my fics? Well, this is why. I’m going to put the book in Kindle Select initially, which requires it be exclusive to Amazon. It won’t be that way forever, though. Eventually, I’d like to release it wide, and when I do, I plan to make the fic available again. I won’t take it down for another few months yet, so there’s still time to snag it from AO3, if you’re so inclined.

Even more exciting, this book is just the first in a series of standalone romances I’m writing about geeky women who work in STEM fields. I’m most of the way through the first draft of book two, and the plan is to release three books in the span of three months, hopefully starting in August. (If you’ve been wondering why I haven’t posted any fic in a while, this is why, lol.)

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who’s ever left a supportive comment or message about one of my fics, and to all the other amazing fic writers out there who’ve inspired me with their incredible talent and creativity. You’ve all helped me make this lifelong dream come true, and I will never forget that. <3 <3 <3

Summer Anime 2016

This summer we have so many anime with an all-male cast, I was so happy I decided to to a rec/ranking/review/summary. Note: I only watch anime with mostly males I’m sorry it’s just what I like lol so this list may not match yours. (I cannot stand female leads - except maybe Gintama? - because they will escalate into romantic relationships and they annoy me to no end. It’s like the only purpose of females is romance and I hate that.) And a warning is that I’m kind of shallow so I normally look at the guys’ looks and then their character. But good character and relationship developments are definitely essential to me too.

1. Fukigen na Mononokean

I’ve rec it so many times I feel like I’m part of the official publicity comm but it’s really good :) My favourite character is Abeno cause he’s really adorable and tsundere (?) haha. If you like youkai, friendship and touching moments, do try this out!! It’s a little similar to Natsume Yuujinchou too.

2. Servamp

It looks really interesting so I watched it and when I saw the OP I screamed cause all-male cast! Compared to Spring 2016 this season does look more appealing to me. And I’ve ran out of anime with all bromance (other than sports anime) and no romance. So anyway for Servamp, Kuro was a really cute cat, and the setting seems interesting enough for me to chase. I feel like I might not like the main character as much though but we’ll see.

3. Fudanshi Kokou Seikatsu

Ahh this is really cute I can relate so much to the main character as a Fujoshi myself :D and I can hardly find friends who can fangirl with me. It’s really sad to be embarrassed for liking gay ships ;n; The only bad thing about the series is that it’s too short each episode haha.

4. D.Gray-man Hallow

I’ve read the manga but didn’t understand most of it. Still, it’s likeable and I like Allen and Kanda. I felt like this season they beautified all the characters and Kanda definitely looks better with his new hairstyle/fringe :DD I hope they can animate most of the manga and I hope we can finally understand what is going on with the 14th.

5. Handa-kun

I just watched the 1st episode today and all I can is that it’s really good and hilarious omg. Only it’s too short with the first 9min trying to break the fourth wall and I couldn’t understand the humor at all. Still, the rest of the episode was worth it! Can’t wait for the rest!

The tale of two cities according to Heiko and Stephi - Part 100

Woohoo! This is post number 100! That’s unbelievable! I learned a lot about our hometowns. Even though Heiko and I don’t like each other, for this little project we met in Cologne and Munich. This and next week we want to share what we liked most in the other city.

Stephi: I love the cathedral in Cologne (first photo). It’s such an impressive building inside and outside. I remember that I said loud “WOW” when I was in the cathedral for the first time. I like the dark atmosphere mixed with the colorful windows.

Heiko: I had two ‘aha’-moments. One was when we went to Munich’s river, the Isar. My first reaction was: “You call that a river?” Stephi always said that the Isar is just a little river but to me it looked more like a little creek. We have rivers that size all around.
Still, the river had something magical. We went there in the evening hours and the sun already set with just a little orange glow of yellow and orange. The evening mood with the snow made this a great place to be even though it was colder than cold.

Thank you everyone for following our little series!

And no, I don’t like Stephi, at all.

A Place to Call Home

A/N: So I had this idea and then I had a dream of this idea so I decided to go with it. I thought about make it a series but I’m not sure yet. We’ll see how it goes. I had no idea it would come out as long as it did, the words just kept come. Anyways, let me know what you think! BE HONEST. And if you want this to maybe be a series let me know that as well! :) Also I suck a titles I’m sorry.
