3D/RGB Split Effect Tutorial

Hello! this is an effect I see in a lot of artworks and that I use a lot, I tend to see new/younger digital artists (even others who are more experienced) asking me and others quite often how to do it but there doesn’t seem to be many tutorials for how to do it, especially not for Clip Studio Paint. I’m going to try to keep this simple as possible, cause it confuses tf out of me and i only just now learned how to do it in CSP lol

*This can also be/is usually done in Photoshop, but not everyone has photoshop, and there are already tutorials for it I think! Do what u gotta do!

What’s going on everyone. My schedule is opening up a bit, so I thought I’d open up some commissions. You can get in touch with me on Tumblr, Deviant Art, Twitter, or gmail. I check all four atleast once a day so if you want anything drawn, shoot me a message!

I’ve also done bigger commissions. I’m pretty flexible, so if there’s something you want that you don’t see here feel free to shoot me a message anyway. We can talk about what you want and I’ll send you a quote.

I should also add a note about what I will and won’t draw. I’ll draw just about anything, I can’t think off the top of my head what I wouldn’t atleast try.

I’ve got my swim trunks, and my flippie-floppies

for @legividivici, hope you like it!! <3 (ao3)

The last place Clarke expected to run into anyone she knows is the literal middle of the ocean, but the cruise ship has barely left port before she spots a familiar head of tousled curls ahead of her in the crowd.

She loses sight of him before she can get a good look, so she chalks it up to her imagination. It’s entirely possible that Bellamy is on the same cruise she is– they did, after all, both just graduate, and therefore have the same budget and scheduling constraints– but she tells herself it probably isn’t him. And that even if it is him, it’s not like they’re going to run into each other.

So of course the next day she’s on one of the decks by the pool when a shadow falls over her and his voice says, “Is this chair taken?”

Clarke pushes her sunglasses up on top of her head and wrinkles her nose at him.

“I don’t know, I my tiara really ought to have a chair of its own.”

Bellamy smirks and sits on the edge of the chair, not moving her stuff– not yet– but settling in to bicker with her. As is their custom.

She and Bellamy were RAs in the same dorm two years ago, and they had differing ideas at first about how hands-on they needed to be with their freshmen. Despite the way they picked at each other, by the end of the year they’d become reluctant allies, his calling her ‘Princess’ taking on less of a sneer and more of a teasing edge, her comebacks laced with a smile. They had each other’s backs.

But she didn’t re-up her RA contract for her senior year, and he did, and they’re not the type of friends to outright admit they miss each other, so she hasn’t seen nearly as much of him in the past couple of semesters as she would like.

“You here with Wells?”

“And Raven,” she nods. “I was saving those seats for them, but I’m pretty sure they ditched me to have tiny cabin sex.”

“O and Lincoln ditched me pretty fast too. I think they’ve all forfeited their right to a saved seat,” he grins, passing her bag back to her. The way he lounges back in the chair, skin already browning, wind ruffling his hair, he looks like something straight out of an ad. Or Clarke’s fantasies. Either one, really.

Just because she used to think he was a Class-A dick (which he is, but not in the way she thought. In the fun way.) doesn’t mean she’s never noticed how great his hands are, or how he’s got perfect hair for pulling, or how there’s probably more than one way to wipe a smirk off his face.

“Sure, make yourself at home,” she grumbles. He grins at her and pulls his shirt off, which is– honestly just so unfair.

“Don’t mind if I do.”

Hi everyone!

First of all, I just wanted to thank y'all for all the love on the last tutorial I posted -I’m glad people found it worthy of sharing and reading. I wanted to make this one more in-depth. I don’t think I would call this a “tutorial” to achieve something specific, but a look into the thought process that goes on regarding environments, storytelling and execution. Hopefully you can relate it to your own thought processes you currently have.

Have a good one, guys! If you got questions, do ask ‘em. :)

(Also. I know I’ve been quiet in posting new art lately. A lot of the art I can’t show yet but there is cool stuff on the way.)

hey, all! i keep seeing a bunch of people doing redraws of old art and i thought i’d join in!

the original drawing was done in 2007 (i think i was 15 or 16?) with markers and the new one was drawn this week with photoshop!  the characters bonnet and ribbon were alice and the white rabbit respectively as part of this whole weird trippy alice-themed story i’d written. it’s really weird seeing how much my art (and my storytelling) has matured in the past 8 years, something that seemed weirdly impossible when i was 15, despite how long 8 years is.

this picture is also this month’s patreon process video! if you’d like to see the process for this and many more pieces, you can support my patreon for as little as $10 a month!

I can't get over the typo in one line of Sammy's dialogue. It was something about Bendy being lord and savior, but "savior" is misspelled "savor". It's very minor, but it's one of those where once you find it, you can't stop thinking about it.

hi! please can I ask your advice on something. I'm thinking of selling some prints of my art but I've never done it before. A friend has suggested using etsy. But what's the best way to turn trad art into a print? How do you do it? Should I buy a scanner?

sure! since i make my art traditionally, i scan it in and make a nice n clean file in photoshop. that’s what i use to make my prints.

i ended up buying an epson artisan printer because it makes high quality prints and can print on larger paper (11″x17″) as well. so i print on 80lb matte card stock, crop, and ship out myself through my online store. some people will make their prints through other manufacturers and they either send them all to you or ship them out for you, but those options are more time consuming and expensive, so i prefer to make them myself. basically, there are lots of different ways to make prints, and you should experiment to see what you like best!

Would you mind showing us how you edit your Adventures of Aurora photos? Do you use reshade? The photos and editing is AMAZING i'm in love <3

🍁 How I edit “The Adventures of Aurora” 🍁

All righty! I think this is will be relatively simple, but if you don’t understand something feel free to send me a message! You will need Photoshop to follow this! Let’s begin, shall we?

1. Reshade

I do use Reshade! I have found this stunning preset by @simemi and it is amazing, it makes everything look brighter and more vivid! It’s a must-have, really!

2. Topaz Clean

I use and abuse Topaz Clean, it is one of my favorite things in Photoshop. You can download Topaz Clean here. I use it with the following settings:

3. Curves

All right! First off, I highly recommend you check this amazing post on curves by @bratsims  it taught me everything I know about curves!

I have two sets of curves I use, the one I use for all my screenshots of Aurora:

And the one I use on top of that first set if the picture isn’t bright enough for my liking:

If the picture still doesn’t quite look like I want it to look like, I go to Image>Adjustements>Brigthness/Contrast and adjust those two until I like what I see!

4. Blur & Layer Mask’s

Once again I am going to have to mention one of @bratsims tutorials, please check this one right over here

Essentially, what you want to do is:

  1. Duplicate your layer;
  2. On the duplicate go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur> and set it to something in between 1 and 2 pixels. 1.5 is a solid middle but sometimes I do 2 as well! Just adjust it to your liking;
  3. On the bottom right corner next to fx there is this tiny square, click on that to add a layer mask;
  4. Then, using the brush tool, you will “delete the blur” on the things/sims that you don’t want to be “blurred out”.

Again, please check the tutorial I linked above, it has pictures which makes it is much easier to follow if you’re new to layer masks and/or how they work.

5. Cropping

When all of this is done, I select the crop tool and insert the following ratio: 1366 x 700. And that’s it! Hope this helped 😊💓

Another Yandere simulator redesign (omg there’s a lot rn, but I like doing them so…..)

Here is Oka Ruto’s redesign!

Not much of her design is changed but I reduce a bit of the ‘cuteness’, for a more realistic approach to the face, I gave her a long face, she now has down-turned eyes, small nose and narrow ears, this gives her a unique look that would match with her original personality. Her hair is now a bit messier and one part covers her eyes, referencing her first appearance in the game. Some clothing additions include a longer skirt and a turtle neck underneath her school uniform, accessories such as the choker and fingerless gloves have been omitted so that this fits in a senior high school environment, so in replacement, a small skull keychain is decorated on her bag and her stockings are replaced with plain black stockings. Her body frame is more slender now.

Her name is now is Ameko Kuroba, Ameko means “rain child”, in this case, ‘Ame’ (rain) can be referenced to a yokai/spirit named “Ame-Onna” (”rain woman”), in which they bring rain where ever they go, in modern days, the term ‘Ame-Onna” (or ‘Ame-Otoko’ in a male’s case) is used as a term to describe an unlucky person that has seemingly been jinxed and will bring rain where ever they go. The surname Kuroba means “black feathers”, which fits with her gothic/occult theme.

Her personality has been reworked too, she’s shy and timid, but not really in a cutesy way, instead she has social anxiety, she barely talks/ communicates with others in the fear they find her creepy or too uninterested in talking to her and judging her behind her back. She fears of being embarrassed, humiliated and judged so she begins restricting herself from conversations or seeing new people. In certain situations, she can end up having panic attacks, start trembling in fear, twitching, and having a racing heart. Due to this, sometimes, she would stay home from school. However, she does visit a psychiatrist often to receive some therapy, eventually, she started socialising with students with similar problems and interest as her (the rest of the Occult Club), she is trying her best, she’s just taking it one step at a time.

She also suffers from insomnia (which is linked to her anxiety), some nights, she couldn’t fall asleep, fearing of nightmares or generally, not feeling like the needs for sleep, due to this, she sometimes would end up passing out in class, she has been trying some self-care, she’s trying her best~!

The occult club no longer exist, because usually clubs are mostly focused on studies of interest, and the clubs must be sponsored by a teacher, realistically, a occult club can give a senior school bad reputation and it might not fit any relations to studies, so it’s unlikely a teacher would sponsor it , in this case the occult club is a group of students who hang out with each other and talk about the occult or so forth, usually they would read about myths and magic, and they would sometimes write stories together (ala Creepypasta) and make small crafts (I don’t think they would try something extreme like summoning a demon).

Any who that’s all I got for now~!!

Mistress of Flame Challenge

Here we go: IDW’s Mistress of Flame! @cavalierconvoy suggested the subject matter, I suggested the two week deadline, and @erikaskerzz suggested showing off our progress steps. There’s certainly a contrast of styles among the three of us!

I’ll start with with Cav first because she’s been live streaming this. She went with watercolors, and the end result is a very bold and vibrant masterpiece that’s getting framed very soon. The best part is the metallic gold accents she put on last. The hi-res scan actually doesn’t do it justice, but her photo of the finished piece caught the sheen very well. Below are the sketch, inks, ambient color, and final.

Up next is Erika’s work. I have no idea how she’s able to achieve such clean lines; I need to learn more about this myself! Her final coloring shows great depth, dynamics, and mood as she contrasts the cool glow of the moth to the warmth of the mistress, and the composition with the cape and the cropping is very powerful, too! Below are inks, base color, and final.

And finally my take on the Mistress. No, it’s not one of my Inktober doodles. I went with my Heavy Metal style for this. The triple circle composition with the swords, portal, and cape frame her in, and the crisscross of the hammer, cape, and far right sword draw you toward the flame. Trust me, holding a flame in her hand and circles in the background weren’t criteria for this piece; it just so happens that my wife and I think a lot alike. I used to do all my coloring in Photoshop with airbrushes, masks, and way too many layers, but now I do it by hand with colored pencils for one-step blending. Below are the rough, graphite, colored pencil overlay, and final.

I can honestly say this challenge worked for me. I’ve been in a rut and needed to get something done. I was a bit nervous about giving myself a tight deadline, but I actually finished with five days to spare. Never considered drawing Mistress of Flame, but I really like how we all did. Like Ironhide and Trailbreaker in an Indy 500, with a run-in by Skywarp, the winners are us!

euvoi  asked:

i've already checked your faq and such, so pardon me for asking. May I know what your digital brush settings are? I like the lines you used for the "Adrien in a bowl" sketch. thanks :)

i’ve been asked this before, but i can’t find the post now, sooo… basically it’s mainly just a flat round that’s been squashed and tilted a bit???

in brush tip shape:

in shape dynamics:

[i don’t remember what the checked ‘smoothing’ does… i think that’s new from photoshop cc but i made this brush back when i was using photoshop cs3 sooo…]

i have one angled left and one right, but i usually use the one i have selected cos i am right handed lol. [i do swap to the other angle sometimes tho…if you are left handed, the other one is prolly gonna be your primary one.]

this is what i have mine set as for inks/sketches:

so yea i basically never use 100%/100% xD;;;; and the difference is pretty subtle but i find my lines look a lot better and they come out more correct when i have the squished brush instead of the flat round ;;;; hope this helps ;0;/

anonymous asked:

Hi, I follow your posts for a while and love your photos omg can you show how to edit your sims ' eye? (Sorry, my English sucks) 💕

Hello there~! And awwee so sweet! Thank you very much so as a token of appreciation I’ll show you how :)

Note that I always blend my sims eyes with other pictures like final fantasy characters & black desert characters. You can find the tutorial on the blending technique here. Also, I use a tablet when editing just to let you know, I;m sure you can use a mouse to draw it :)

So here is how I edit, the picture will like this once finished >3<

MATERIALS USED: Brush used for eyeliner, Freckles blush and own brushes for eye blush and highlights.

Let’s begin!

STEP 1

Once you blend, on a new layer and by using the brush setting it at low opacity, draw an eyeline outlining both the upper and lower eyelids.

STEP 2

I tend to redraw back what I trace to make the eyeliner more pop out..? XD Again, on a new layer by using the same brush with the same opacity, touch up some of the eyeliner. So it should produce something like this.

STEP 3

Then add few highlights on a new layer. I used my own brush for this one (I forgot how I made it). You can use the eyeliner brush as well though by setting it to low opacity with low hardness. You have to use white colour for this one and just highlight on some parts of the eyes which you think would produce a highlight..? XD Make sure you paint it gently :)

Then add an eye blush, you can use photoshop default brushes for this one as well. Set the colour to pink or red, I tend to use both depends :8 And paint it softly on the corners of the eye which give you the cutie look~! I always do this for my cute babies and not manly boys like Ryou XD

And you are done~!

I tend to add freckles and white pores onto my sims to give them a final touch up..? XD And this I ended up with this picture~!

Thats how I did my sims’ eyes though, hope you find it helpful~! <3

anonymous asked:

hey! this might seem like an odd question but can I ask how you design your outfits/armor designs? whenever i try to design something for a character it kinda comes out simple, or is similar to other designs i've made in the past and i was wondering if you had any other tips ^_^ (also, i absolutely adore you're hq!! fantasy au and i can't wait for another update X3 )

Hey there Anon! :) I’m sure your work is fantastic! Just brainstorming and trying new things (even if you think it turns out too similar or simple) is always a good thing! Tbh I’m not really experienced in concept design and I don’t find my work to look very skilled haha but here’s a couple things I do when doing these kinds of drawings. First, I think it’s good to grab as many reference photos as you feel you need. For Ushijima’s (shiratorizawa) armor outfit I was looking at a lot of ancient Greek armor. What I did was take the general shape of the armors in the pictures and elaborated on it. It is VERY helpful (at least for me) to have a “base” for your designs that you can start with so that it’s easier to add in detail and embellishments. It also helps you understand how clothes/armor fits. I struggle a lot with making armor look like it’s wearable with room for the bending of elbows and knees, so I try to take time to figure out how the armor is being worn and what pieces are separate from the others. Second, when trying to think of something new, I like to try and think in shapes. Like Ushijima’s is very round and circular but Iwa’s is very sharp and diamond shaped. It’s easier for me to make something more detailed when I have a basic shape that applies to the whole outfit: if I wanted to add designs on the fabric for Ushijima, it would probably be a lot of curved lines and circular designs. Lastly, reference, reference, reference. On clothes and armor around the world. You won’t find a better inspiration than real life designs! It’s not like you have to copy it, just observe it and maybe take aspects of what you’re seeing, such as a cloth wrapped on one side of the body, or a utility belt/strap that goes around the waist and over the shoulder. And there’s nothing wrong with not liking the design you make at first <3 just keep sketching over and over and don’t give up! And have fun experimenting with different things ~ Sorry for the long ramble hahah

Answering other ASKS here (it’s gonna be a long one… lol):

Hi there! Hmm drawing technique… I would define it as HOW you draw something. Or HOW you use your choice of medium to draw/paint. For example, if you use pencil/pen, there’s something called stippling, which is a bunch of dots to create an illusion of shading. Stippling is a technique you use to draw with the pencil/pen. Same with cross hatching. You can’t really have a drawing technique, as it is something used by a lot of people. But you can USE technique and HAVE a personal style, which is the end result of you using technique. If that makes sense? Ahhh I hope this helped at least a little ;__; That was a hard question haha I had to think about this quite a bit XD

Hi @plants-blooms! Thank you so much! Ohhh another hard Q hahah. I agree it can be hard to achieve a natural look on photoshop. I think it really comes down to your choice of brush and your understanding of light and color on hair.

I did this super quick and messily but I think it gets across the impact of using different brushes while drawing the same thing. It’s very important to know what kind of look you are going for and brushes factor a lot into it. And then there’s color and light. I think the best way to do realistic, natural looking hair is to observe real life and understand how the environment interacts with it (careful though since there are a lot of different types of hair). The amount of light a person’s hair is exposed to affects it’s color; not painting it in the right shade when the environment is really dark or really light can throw off its realism. Also, you don’t HAVE to emulate real hair and draw every single strand. If you understand all that light/color business, you can actually draw very simply and it will still look realistic. I’d like to point you towards WLOP’s work <3 their work IS detailed but it’s also a combo of specific brushes and an amazing understanding of light. And Wlop’s painting tutorial HERE. In general make sure to practice by observing portrait photos (perhaps flickr) or just creep on people in real life hehe

Haha hi there ~ Ahh thank you so much >///< yes that is me! *cough* Butiwaswearingalotofmakeupinthatreferencephotolmao *cough*

Ahh thank you so much @ichigodaisuki! <3 The small square above the nano is a very lazy and quick attempt to draw 3DS game cards hahah. It’s Fire Emblem Awakening and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire XDD and it’s completely illegible hahaha

Hi there, Anon! <3 Ohhh this question haha. I’ve been following figure skating since, I think, Kristi Yamaguchi in the 1990s (she was so good). I’ve also loved animation since I was little. The problem is I’m VERY VERY picky about the shows that I choose to watch, so I decided to keep tabs on anime studios based on the number of shows they’ve made that I enjoyed. MAPPA has been on my list since Sakamichi no Apollon and Zankyou no Terror (both are extremely beautiful, mature shows btw if you haven’t seen them), so when I heard they were going to make an original FIGURE SKATING show… I was all in. I think I was waiting for Yuri on Ice for over a year because the trailer came out 10 months ago and the announcement was a while before that.

Anyways YES I loved the show, however it is not in my top favorites list (weird I know haha I’m sorry). But while I had issues with the character development and the animation, this show NAILED the main three. I could draw Yuuri, Victor, and Yurio all day! I think those guys were what made me love YOI, especially the relatable personality and character progress of Yuuri. Really wish there was more on Victor though, considering how significant of a character he is.

Ohhh Anon ~ If you want to watch something you should do it! Not being an artist or a reviewer should never stop you from watching a tv show, or doing anything for that matter <3 be yourself. Anyone who doesn’t want to talk to you because they think you’re “untalented” is a jerk and not worth your time anyways! The YOI community on here has been very friendly and welcoming, so don’t be afraid! Please take care and think higher of yourself ~ Have more confidence <3

Hello there Anon! Oh my goodness thank you so much! >////< And of course that’s totally ok with me! <3 ahhhh thank you so much for your support and I’m so honored you want to try and cosplay the design! I would LOVE to see it when it’s done if that’s alright with you?? *o*

Hi there Anon! Thank you so much and thank you for the interest! <3 There is only ONE king/queen at a time, but they are chosen by both of the two clans together and that person can be from either clan. Tsukki is definitely moon clan along with Asahi, Kiyoko, and Suga. Noya, Tanaka, Daichi, Yachi and Hinata are sun. I’m struggling with Yamaguchi, Takeda, Ukai and the rest… Kageyama is actually from Seijou and was banished to Karasuno and takes over as a dictator, sort of. So he has some work to do haha. Here’s the crests but they’re subject to change considering how fast and sloppy I did them LOL:

@fuckdin Of course. To both. Hehehe. But seriously yes, I definitely plan to draw more of the fantasy AU. It’s getting to the point where I want to draw all the characters and all the outfits and all the locations. And I have no time. It’s baaaaad hahah. But in terms of Iwaoi, their relationship in this AU is a bit… angsty. Mutual. But angsty… Soon. I’ll draw more soon!

・☆・☆・☆・☆・☆・☆・☆・

Thank you to everyone who sent in ASKS! I have a few unanswered ones because this post turned out rather long haha. I’ll get to those when I can. And I’ll pm replies to the non-answer ASKS assuming you are not anonymous :)) Take care all! Have a great week <3 and a little iwaoi heh

How I Make Animated Gifs (Photoshop CS5)

So! I went from no one asking to suddenly having quite a few people asking about how I animated this stuff so I’m putting together a little tutorial now.

(Disclaimer, I am not an actual animator, and my knowledge on this is all trial-and-error but works for me.)

First, you open up Photoshop. Click the icon, blah blah, wait 100000 years for it to load (it takes mine like 5 minutes :’))

Then you’re going to go to “Window” and scroll down to “Animation.”

Something like this should pop up:

It’ll be empty until you open up a file and add a layer. There are a few ways you can go about this - you can either animate via animation timeline or animation frames, but I personally prefer frames. So, once you add a layer, you’ll probably see something like this:

The “click here” is where you want to click if you want to animate by frames. You can toggle between frames and timeline through this. Now, just for the sake of showing what it’ll look like when there’s actually something kinda-animated, I’m going to open up a small animation I did for this.

(Yeah that’s a lot of layers, and each one is individually drawn for the hair hahahaha) Below, on the animation bar, that’s all the individual frames. And if you look closer -

- you’ll see that I have it set to 0.05 sec per frame. I’ve just found that for actual animation, this is the smoothest (while still manageable) rate to animate sequences, so 0.05-0.08 is generally the range I go with. (I am not an actual animator, I just do what I do.)

For small sort-of animations like this,

each individual motion is anywhere from 0.2 seconds to 0.8 seconds, with varying animation frames in-between to give a staggered effect.

This is what the animation frames look like. Each frame is 0.2 seconds, but I had the motions staggered across the frames. (0.5 and 1 are my usual go-to rates for simple, small-motion animations though.)

Also note that, on the bottom left, I have the loop set to “Forever.” There are the options “once,” “three times,” “forever,” and “other,” but for continuously looping gifs you’ll want “forever.”

So! What do you do with your completed animation? You go to “File,” and scroll down to “Save for Web & Devices.”

I’ve gone back to the Kushina hair animation thing for this. Now, after you click on “Save for Web & Devices,” something like this should pop-up with an overview.

Review what it is that you want - I generally go with the presets, and pay attention to the bottom right-hand side. Image size, I generally keep within 800^2 px to 1500^2px to keep the files small. (That’s not very small, but considering I draw on 3000px by 2500px+, it is to me)

Also, looping options! If you forget to switch the looping options on the animation frame/timeline, you can do it here too. Once everything is checked over, just click “Save,” and you have your looping gif!

(Yeah no I only put this together quickly, I wasn’t gonna bother making it smoother than I made it. Too much work and not enough time.)

So there! Making looping gifs on photoshop. If you want an actual animation tutorial - how to make smooth walking motions, hair, etc. - you can probably find one on Youtube or something. Saving gifs from professional animation and analyzing the frame-by-frame motions helps too (as I mentioned above, my learning was crude). The actual process of animating is pretty damn time-consuming, but if you do small animations to add some flair to your art, it’s manageable.

Happy gif-making!
