Sabrina’s Icon Tutorial

So you wanna learn how to make simple icons, and make them fast? This is the post FOR YOU. I constantly brag about my 1,500 icons for each of my muses, all simply edited and edited fast with minimal effort on my end.
(Note, this tutorial ISN’T how I edit my icons, but how I make editing them easier on myself.)

For this tutorial, you will need:
Photoshop! I use CS6 and while these features might be in earlier versions, I suggest getting CS6 to make things easier on yourself!
Icons to edit! Make sure you’re allowed to edit your icons if you download them from someone else’s icon set.

If you are cropping your icons yourself, try to save the image with the artist’s URL- that way, you can credit the artist if someone asks for it, and you can delete the icon if the artist comes and asks you not to use their art.
If you didn’t crop your icons yourself, don’t worry about it, but please remember to be respectful if an artist approaches you and asks you to stop using a certain icon that uses their art! If they say to stop, stop using the icon and delete it like they asked you to.

That said, let’s get right into this! If a part has confused you, please don’t be afraid to head to my inbox and ask me for clarification!
Also note that this is MY METHOD of making icons- there is no Right or Wrong way to make icons. This is simply how I do them, and how I edit 1,500+ icons in a matter of 10 minutes.

Omg u really think the concerts aren't top-notch? WHY! Well, I've only been to one though haha

This is MY personal opinion so please don’t come at me in my inbox for not loving everything these boys do.. I love them, I just don’t love everyyyy choice they make.

Overall, the stage production over the last couple of tours hasn’t been my cup of tea. Too big, too much going on on stage, I don’t like the childish appearance, the colors chosen for the stage, the cartoon graphics and all of that jazz. They’re cooler than that imo. The cleaner and smaller stage they’ve had lately looks better. It got a bit messy on the big stage, ‘cause not all of them know how to work a stage of that caliber. And I’m MAD that it took them ‘til the end of this tour to finally produce something fresh?? I’m talking about the red lights that slinks up during Stockholm Syndrome. I was so happy when I saw that, and my first thought was ‘daaaamn, that’s cool!’.Those lights really suit the song and they’re kinda sexy! Which was a nice surprise lol. But most importantly, it makes the experience of listening to the song better, which is what they should aim more for imo.. I also liked the fireworks that went off during the bridge in You & I. That made for a chill-inducing moment live, and they should’ve had more of those.. Esp when they’re doing a stadium show. You need to surprise and pull out the big tricks for stadium shows. You want the crowd to whisper ‘wow’ and evoke emotion.

So yeah, the lack of diversity during their shows bother me a bit. They have massive songs and could’ve done a lot to heighten the concert experience. After 5 years on the road, not much has changed.. They’ve been following a very similar recipe. One example of how they could’ve changed it up, was if they had an acoustic portion during the show. They could’ve all sat together on bar stools or something and had one guitar and gone old school with us again. It would’ve split up the concert a bit, but in a good way imo. They’ve would’ve been forced to actually sing, harmonize and work TOGETHER as a four-piece, ‘cause I do miss some cohesiveness. Instead of them sitting spread out singing Little Things and DFWYB for the thousandth time they could’ve done it together. And we all know they’re sick of singing certain songs, so why not change up the arrangements of them?? For example Little Things and WMYB, they’ve both gone antiseptic and stale imo, and could use a change… (oh and fuck them for not singing Fool’s Gold.)

I think Louis could really reallyyyy benefit from working on his vocals.. (It’s downright jarring to listen to.) and he could work on his energy and stage presence imo. After Zayn left he’s gotten better with the performance aspect of it though. He actually looks like he wants to be up there now, he’s much happier, so that’s been great to see :) His voice is so needed in 1D, but it bothers me that I don’t see much improvement :/ He pulls away his mic wayyy too often too.. he backs out, instead of working on it and changing up the notes to fit his range better.

Bless Liam and Harry for their tireless efforts on stage.. They really try hard every night to make it the best it can be for the crowd. Just watching how Liam and Harry have grown with all of the parts they had to sing after Zayn left is admirable. During the first shows after Zayn left Harry was WAY off with some of the high notes. (remember the faces he made when he didn’t hit the notes during Ready to Run? haha, so cute.) Same with Liam, he didn’t have the confidence to go for the high note in You and I, for ex. He didn’t even bother trying during the first shows. But they both worked with it and improved each night. And now Harry is smashing his high notes. Same with a line in SOML, he couldn’t sing it like Zayn, so he changed it to fit HIS voice, and it’s sounding beautiful. And Liam is KILLING his high note in You & I now. Same with his runs, they’re just soaring so effortlessly out of him. I admire and have SO much respect for their hard work and perseverance. They’re total pros and I love the dedication. Niall has worked on his vocals a lot the last couple of years too, he’s sounding better and better and I’ve found that I appreciate his voice a lot more now :) But he’s behind his guitar a lot, so I can’t say too much about his stage persona, ‘cause he’s ofc very limited. However, they’re very much spread out, and during some shows there’s very little interaction. Esp in Europe the boys got a lot of flack for basically running solo shows.. (It was very noticeable at my show too.) When the band is working together, they feed off of each other. That synergy produces moments of magic, but there’s not enough of them imo :/

And I’m tired of the constant LILO water fights. I think it’s fun every once in a while, but now it’s like.. stop. And I knooooow that they’re just having fun and goofing off, I love those moments too, trust me, but sometimes they don’t even sing their parts during a song ‘cause they’re too busy soaking each other. That’s not okay. During my show they had 5 or 6 water fights.. People around me were commenting on it, and not in a good way, and that’s when I think you’ve reached your limit. I personally don’t pay to see water fights.

Harry says that each show is so different, and maybe it is for them, but I think it’s gotten very routine-like.. even most of their banter. The only thing they wing is when Harry does some stand-up or goes on a poutine rant, haha. But we’ve heard the same speeches, for years now, so it’s gotten redundant. I appreciate that they’ve thrown in the new songs as they’ve gotten released though! That’s great and it spices things up for them, and us, ‘cause there’s a distinct difference between playing your songs well and giving them everything you’ve got.. And I do miss the latter sometimes… The show itself generally comes off as a bit lackluster at times, for sure. (But I LOVE them for singing everything live and for being true performers in that aspect.)

But.. they’ve been touring for soooo long, they’re tired, so I’m not gonna come at them too hard for this tour. They need a break, and I’m so happy that they get to REST next year. Hopefully they’ll come back revived and ready to kick butt :)
