i should be working on a program

Incredibly Belated Update!

With the end of Nanoreno looming near, the team figures it’s time to be transparent:

GUI, Music, and CGs are mostly done. We’ve got the minimum 4 CGs we wanted, and it’s looking like we might be able to squeeze in one more before the end… The Gallery will need to be programmed in after that, but then those are completely done.

An earlier WIP, with one of our new BGs:

Our gorgeous base sprites are complete! Right now, we’re still trying to get expressions done, but Rei is working hard:

Writing is officially 50% complete. Yes, I know I’m behind… Sorry x( I’ll try my hardest to get this done.

It’s looking grim, guys, not gonna lie… We SHOULD have enough done to at least release a demo by the end of Nano, but I can’t make any promises. T-T

Please wish us luck and speed and if you can send me anything to combat the wicked stress-acne I’m developing, that’d be pretty great too…

Cheers ♥

- Agashi

Effort makes you. You will regret someday if you don’t do your best now. Don’t think it’s too late but keep working on it. It may take time, but there’s nothing that gets worse due to practising. So practise. You may get depressed, but its evidence that you are doing good.

Jeon Jungkook

‘A message for those who are stepping forward to a new beginning and challenges’ (BTS begins program book)

  1. Set your priorities straight. As you’ve entered school, you know that your academics are basically one of your priorities, aside from your personal health. You are a student, after all. You should know that you should be making time for all the school work you’re supposed to be dealing with. If you’re having trouble with this, I suggest you write your priorities down, and rank them according to which one weighs the most. This will make you feel much more headstrong and goal-oriented.
  2. Use schedulers and planners. You’re human and it’s okay to forget things. Get digital with apps and programs or get traditional with notebooks and planners. Involve your planning with a combination of both. This really helps especially if you’ve created a system for remembering things more efficiently, eg. color-coding, bullet journaling, weekly overviews, having legends, etc., which leads us to the next point:
  3. Schedule in advance. Complete the difficult tasks, the easy tasks, the medium tasks. Do what you can. Set deadlines for yourself. If you’re fully aware that three weeks from now, you’ll have 3 exams in a day, start studying as early as possible. If you have to attend to an event and have an exam the day after, bring any study material with you. Do homework the day they’re given to you, especially if they’re fairly easy. If they need some research or data collection, make it a point that you do it after class or on the nearest weekend. Break the habit of doing something because a classmate has already started doing his/hers. Instead, do it for the motivation that you’ve set for yourself.
  4. Prevent causes of distraction. There are only 24 hours in a day, and a fraction of which we use for fulfilling our basic necessities. Utilize the remaining time for productivity. Delete social media apps if you have to, or turn off your internet. Better yet, turn off your phone and exchange phones with your roommate or your friend. Keep it. Forget about it for a moment. You can always leave your feed but it will never leave you. You can always return to it after you’ve done your work.
  5. Multi-task! I can never stress the importance of learning multi-tasking enough. Whenever I’m in a long meeting, I usually bring my laptop to review notes or write a paper. Of course, it would seem rude to some so it’s better if you would give them a heads-up. If I’m in a class I find easy and if the professor allows us to study or drift off, I usually study for other classes that I need more attention in. While I take showers, I discuss the exam material from my memory out loud. If you have to wait in line for some errand, bring a book. Sometimes while doing my night care routine, I would listen to audio recordings of my professor. Some of these examples may come off as rude or off-putting, I know. But that’s just me. You can always find other safer situations where you could practice multi-tasking.
  6. Now, not tomorrow. If you happen to finish a scheduled task and got a little free time, it gives you all the reason to do some of the things you have scheduled for other days. If you can do it now without any constraint, why would you choose to do it later?
  7. Ask for help. If a friend’s not too busy, don’t be afraid to ask for a little help! You can ask them favors of proofreading your essay. You can ask them about the notes that you didn’t take down of. You can ask them about how this certain professor’s exam types. The possibilities are endless. Just know the right people and places. Don’t dwell too much on tiny details. If you have misunderstood a certain topic, ask your roommate, ask the person next door. Go to the nearest library. Check the internet for answers. You can consult your teacher or professor. Don’t be afraid to ask for a little assistance. No man is an island.
  8. You have all the time on your hands. If you believe that you can do it, and if you really want to do it, you will. Taking up other commitments and responsibilities is never a problem, as long as you know you can handle them without sacrificing another. You are always allowed to say no. If you have as many organizations as me, remember that work should never get in the way of your priorities. Just keep in mind that everyone has their certain limits, and you do too.
  9. If all else fails, CLUTCH IT!! I’m not joking, I’ve done this multiple times. I came out alive but I have to admit that not all of my crammed output had the best marks (although some of them did!). If you don’t want to be in this heart-racing situation, then be as diligent as possible with your work! Make it a habit.

Always remember that these tips may or may not help anyone the same as it did with me, but I’m glad that I have this opportunity to get this out there. Find your rhythm. I know it takes time, but don’t stress yourself too much because all of your efforts will be successful. Some efforts may just be rewarded in ways that you didn’t plan to, while some just lead you nearer to your dreams. Just keep doing you, and you’ll get through this.

I believe in you.

My Fitness Shit

Alright so a LOT of people have asked me what I do to at the gym what my diet is what should you should do as a beginner etc etc.

My Program
For my program I am currently working out 4 to 5 times a week. Each day that I go I focus on a different muscle group: Push (Chest/Triceps), Pull (Back/Biceps), and Leg day. I also focus on a power lift, which can be: Bench Press, Deadlift, Overhead Press, or Squats. Along with a power lift I do accessory movements to complement it. Sometimes i’ll add in a few ab workouts but I don’t focus on that and i’ll say why in a sec.

Examples of my workout plans:
Push Day: Bench Press, Overhead Press, DB (Dumbell) Incline Press, DB Shoulder Press, Pec (Pectoral) Deck, Dip Machine, Side Lateral Raises, Overhead Tricep Extension, Rope Tricep Extensions, Cable Crossover, etc.

Pull Day: Deadlifts, DB Row, TBar Row, Seated Cable Rows, DB Curl, Rope Hammer Curl, Face Pulls, Lateral Pull Down, Reverse Pec Deck, etc.

Leg Day: Squats, Sumo Deadlift, Calf Raises, Leg Curls, Leg Extensions, Seated Leg Press, Hip Abduction, Hip Adduction.

The usual amount of sets and reps is 3 sets of 15 reps for each of these workouts, HOWEVER, sometimes I will lower the amount of reps and increase the number of sets I’m doing if its a heavy day, meaning I will be lifting heavier weights because yay I am want to be stronger.
Most likely this all sounds very scary and complicated but don’t worry! If you don’t know what these are just google them and if it looks fun to you then do it :)

My Diet
So my goal is to become lean, which is basically try to remove my fat as much as possible without losing too much muscle. To do this I need to keep track of what I eat. On the nutrition label of every food there is 3 macronutrients: Fats, Carbs, and Protein. This is important because I need to keep track of this if I want to lose fat. Right now I am eating about 600 calories below my BMI (Basal Metabolic Index) which is basically the amount of calories you need to go about your day. Google your BMI to find out how much you need :) I am eating 1600 calories a day AND I am trying to eat my weight in protein. Now I NEED TO DO THIS TO MAINTAIN MY MUSCLE MASS. Right now I weight around 130 lbs so I try to eat at LEAST 130 grams of protein. I am also limiting my fat intake to around 50g. I HIGHLY recommend you download the MyFitnessPal App!!! It makes it 10x easier to track what you eat!
So in short I am eating 1600 calories, ~130g of protein, ~200g of carbs, and <50g of fat
Now these numbers are dependent on your OWN weight, so if you want to find a good plan you gotta do some math okay? But yeah this is all I can think about at the moment. Good luck to everyone with their gains!

Meme War

Tony has created a chatroom.

Tony has invited Sam, Steve, Bucky, Wanda, Nat, Bruce, Peter, Thor, Vision and Scott.

Tony: Okay so, me and Bruce worked real hard on this one.

Nat: Bruce and I, just FYI.

Tony: We created a special program that should keep anyone out that we don’t want in.

Tony: So they shouldn’t be able to get in.

Tony: Oh fuck off.

Scott: Wait who can’t get in and why?

Bucky: So how sure are you they won’t be able to get in?

Thor: Sir Ant-Man, I believe they are discussing Lady Y/n and Sir Clinton.

Bruce: I am hundred percent positive they can’t get in.

Peter: Um guys, I am a little bit confused. What did they do?

Sam: Well Thank Goodness.

Steve: I had enough of that nonsense.

Tony: Nope, just me and my buddy Bruce.

Vision: Peter, I believe it’s called a meme war.

Wanda: My buddy Bruce and I.

Tony: Will you stop correcting my grammar?

Steve: Will you start making proper sentences?

Tony: Oh you too, Steve?

Scott: Seriously, so that’s why you blocked them out?

Scott: Party breakers.

Sam: Well Tic-Tac, you don’t see memes all around the tower.

Wanda: I wouldn’t mind seeing them, if they didn’t suck.

Peter: Well some of them were good.

Steve: On who’s side are you now Peter?

Tony: Hey leave the kid alone.

Peter: I am just saying.

Y/N has entered the chat.

Y/N has added Clint.

Vision: I am not fully sure how this happened.

Vision: My computer doesn’t acquire that kind of information.

Bruce: But how?

Nat: I will seriously kill you two imbecilic.

Nat has left the chat.

Bruce: There was a special password that they need to guess before entering, and it’s not that easy.

Clint: Oh you mean “Y/N and Clint aren’t allowed in this chat”?

Clint: Pretty easy to me.

Wanda: Typical Tony.

Wanda: Now you should create a program that’s not gonna allow Tony to leave the chat.

Steve: Seriously Tony?

Thor: Interesting thinking, Lady Wanda.

Scott: Yeah, let’s torture Iron Man.

Scott: Who’s with me??

Bruce: I swear to God, I’m going to strangle you.

Bruce: Without turning green.

Tony: Alright there buddy, calm down.

Vision has left the chat.

Tony has been disconnected

Bruce has left the chat.

Wanda: Someone’s gonna get their ass beaten.

Clint: Hey Vision

Vision: Yes, Mr. Barton?

Clint: How’s your vision?

Clint: Because

Vision has left the chat.

Thor: Humans.

Thor: I would rather be stuck whit my idiot brother Loki, than you two.

Thor has left the chat.

Peter: Huh, good one.

Steve: I don’t get it.

Sam: This is so stupid.

Bucky: Lame.

Peter: I mean, buu, it sucks.

Clint: Hell yeah, Y/N, hell yeah.

Peter has left the chat.

Y/N: Yaiks, think I got him too hard.

Y/N: Poor little baby.

Sam: Then go suck his dick for comfort.

Clint: Shit Y/N

Bucky: Y/N can I film it when you kill him?

Wanda: I’ll hold your hair so you don’t mess it.

Scott: I will bring popcorn

Steve: I’ll plan a funeral.

Clint: I’ll bring memes.

Bucky: Oh dude, you know you’re going down.

Wanda: Harder than titanic.

Bucky: But not the way you’d like to.

Bucky: GO Y/N, GO Y/N.

Scott: Look guys what I’ve found.

Steve: What is this?

Bucky: This is life

Y/N: Yasss Scott.

Clint: Good one.

Steve: I don’t get it.

Sam: Hilarious.

Steve: You gusy suck.

Steve has left the chat.

Wanda has left the chat.

Sam has left the chat

Scott has left the chat.

Y/N: They think their cool.

Clint: Let’s do something

Y/N: what?

Clint: Okay meet me in the training room in 5.

Clint: I have something great planned out.

Y/N: Can’t wait.

Clint has left the chat.

Y/N: Just had too.

Y/N has left the chat.

I dont even know anymore.

I heard a story tonight. Sobbing girl told it to me. She was young, nice, kind and just a little bit of naive. I don’t know why she Knew certain things. I can only guess.

She spoke of happier times, when she was seeing someone, nice boy with sharp mind and quick fingers when it came to programming. He would compliment her hair, her eyes, her laugh. It felt nice.

She can’t see him now. Not after he bound her, after he stole the keys of the archive where she worked and open the doors. Those doors. They should not be opened. She doesn’t know why he did it. Or rather she does, just not what was Their side of the deal.

He wormed his way into her soul, demanded a place in her heart and stole her True Name from her lips.

She is gonna die, she knows this. But still she won’t look for him

“It was my fault, I should have protected those Names.”

She disappeared soon after, I don’t know which boy she was talking about. She didn’t say me his nickname, or what he looked like. But he is there. Somewhere

I will remember you Nom de plum
I will remember you Lucy Jackson
Till next name comes to my lips

Reading the tweets from the harassment post...

Literally ALMOST EVERYONE in the comments is trying to justify the harassment that this woman has received because of animations and being the “head animator”. You should all be ashamed of yourself if you agree with that statement.
Literally. Get a fucking life and get a hold of yourself. It’s a -game-. -Real people- worked on this just for your enjoyment. You guys are so entitled and spoiled saying “oh well horizon had better graphics and animations!” it does. Because they had more time, animators, and use different programs.
This fandom is so toxic that even with the slightest mistakes made by Bioware and it’s employees, you’re on them like a pack of hungry wolves. I can understand -constructive- criticism and actually helping devs so they can help us in return. And I can admit myself that some of the animations are wonky. But blatantly outting one person just because they were the head of the animations? Just because you thought they were bad? A bunch of fucking animals.

Pull yourselves together, people. It’s a game. Grow up.

There’s a post out there for free art programs (which I’m totally all for, whoo) but one of its links is literally “Sai [Cracked]” which should seem pretty fishy to you. Despite it being distributed so often as free, it IS a paid program (currently $48.46).
If you can spare it and you use it for most of your work, paying for it will give you access to a licensed version of the program, which is guaranteed to be more stable, and the codes will work for when Sai2 is fully out as well.

Take my $1.37. I want PBS.

Take my $.46. I am all for federal funding of art programs.

Take my $.46. I love my museums, colleges, and libraries.

Take my $.11. I support developing minority businesses.

Take my $.66. I am for entrepreneurship and innovation.

Take my $1.60. I want us to export more goods overseas.

Take my $0.43. I would like to see more American manufacturing.

Take my $0.88. I think community policing needs vast improvement.

Take my $1.48. I support programs for women.

Take my $1.55. I believe in due process for all.

Take my $0.48. We need a civil rights division in the justice department.

Take my $0.38. I think we need to defend our Mother Earth.

Take my $0.03… I know more work needs to be done for climate change.

Take my $8.95. because we need more sustainable energy.

Take my $2.71. we should reduce our carbon footprint.

If saving these programs means I’m out $22.36 a year, I’m good with contributing my $.07 a day to save American jobs and these federal programs.

Numbers taken from a report in Time about what the roles of the 17 federal agencies DT has threatened and how much they cost the average taxpayer.

Pass it on.

anonymous asked:

How do you even become cosplay guests with no skill?

LOL I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or honest seriousness but, here’s what I got!

First and foremost, being a convention guest is not just an honor and a priviledge, it is a job.

A job that has responsibilities and expectations, and should be treated as such. When Sylar and I go to a convention as a guest, we are 100% working.

We have a work resume for conventions, a contract, a portfolio of programming, and more. Because that what you are really, programming. Even if all they want you to do is sit at a table and sign things, thats still programming. Its your job to   represent the convention, and give con goers more content for the tickets they bought. You owe it to them to make sure your 100% postive, there, working, and providing something they can’t get anywhere else.

And all con guests are asked to attend for different reasons. Some cosplay guests are asked to come because they are widely known for their technical skill and they will provide programming related to that. Or they simply have a huge fanbase, and are keeping their fanbase happy at your location, therefore spreading that market around.

Sylar and I work hard on our panels. We’re also trained speakers. Both he and I have taken classes, in college, about public speaking. We implement that and our presentation experience into all our panels. As well as our meet and greets at the table, interviews for the con’s media (there is a ton of backstage media going on that most con goers don’t know about. A lot of con time for guests is spent locked up in some empty room giving an interview,) and any floor time we have.

We also have 7 yrs experience working conventions. We have run cafes, hosted events, planned gatherings, organized raffles, done mutiple panels and workshops. We’ve also worked as Guest Liasions ourselves, written out program guides, sat at registration tables, and MCed masquerades as well as judged them. All things that involve systems, filling out paperwork, knowing how to handle negative situations, and doing menial tasks. Heck, we’ve even done set-up and break down for dealers halls. We know cons.

And this is something valued because honestly, its not a job for everyone.

Lots of cosplayers out there with amazing technicality skills just don’t like catering to crowds. They aren’t good speakers. Or they don’t have it in them to sit at a table for 6 hours just listening to strangers speak and ask them questions. Or they might hate having to write out workshop forms. And thats okay! But thats the difference between who gets asked to guest and who doesnt.

Guests have to be okay with not getting time to shop, not getting time to hang out with their friends, and devoting all their energy to the convention goers. Devoting their whole day to smiling and talking and making sure everyone who meets them goes away happy.

If you are interested in coming a guest, awesome! My biggest tips are;
Figure out what service you can provide to the convention experience. What are you good at that you think a con needs? How can you expand that? How can you turn it into programming? Are you a health nut – maybe do a panel on dieting and working out, anime style!  Awesome at writing and editing? Fanfiction panel! A cosplayer who loves acting but hates sewing? Think about being a commentator for Cosplay Chess or the AMV contest!

Start volunteering now. All cons need volunteers and this is the best way to gain experience in the feild, just like any other job. I have friends that started volunteering as security for a con and now they run a convention of their own. No joke. It’s also helpful to know and understand the inner working of how a convention is run if you plan on guesting at one. It helps you help them by knowing what types of panels work best, what programming would work for that con specifically, or even just give you ideas on what their budget for you might be.

Write. A. Resume. Seriously. Just like you have a resume for job searching, write up a resume for cosplaying. How long have you been cosplaying? How many costumes? What skills do you have? Armor making? Public speaking? What experiences? Any awards? What topics are you an expert at that can be turned into an hour of programming? Put it alllllll dowwnnn in youurr resummmee.

Also, protip, you can always write to a a convention’s program director yourself and ASK to be a guest. It’s a job. Submit your application.

Hope this helps!

And funnily enough – this is all information that we talk about in our panel, Cosplay and Convention careers. Where not only do we cover working for cons, but we cover translating cosplay and con work into LIFE CAREERS and how to translate being in a maid cafe to a resume for a 5 star resturant hostess. Lol. My entire Graphic Design resume is pulled from cosplaying. And now I am a full time graphic designer for a state university.

Testing One, Two Three...

OK, so as many of you know, I’ve been working on a database (well, google sheets) version of the sherlollilists, and this link should (fingers crossed) allow you to view and add comments to the preliminary document.

This spreadsheet will include all the tropes I’ve gathered, but also categories like fluff, angst, h/c, etc. It is very much a WiP and will most likely be my hobby for the year since I’ve only got 225 out of 4500+ stories listed so far.

If you’re not familiar with google sheets, it’s pretty much like excel or any other spreadsheet program. A couple of notes on features I’m using:

  • The spreadsheet is organized by title. Although users can’t sort the columns in this document, it’s fine with me if you want to copy and paste the spreadsheet so you can sort by author, date, etc.
  • If there’s a little brown triangle in the upper right corner of a cell, then that means there’s a comment explaining things. Just put your cursor over it to read my notes.
  • There’s an abbreviation key in the second tab in case my abbreviations aren’t very clear.

And that’s it for now. Like I said at the beginning, it’s set up so anyone can use the comment function in case you have suggestions/ideas/ecstatic compliments for the organizer. Eventtually the final product will be up and running and I’ll add a link to it on my sherlollilists home page. Laters!

UPDATE: Forgot to add that after I’m done organizing the listed fics, I plan to go back and add in ALL the sherlolly fics that didn’t make the trope cut.

summary:  Sometimes Steve forgets that Tony is human underneath all the metal, under all the red and gold. After Tony dies he spends time in Tony’s workshop, goes through his schematics, his unfinished works. It’s there that he discovers binarily augmented retro framing, and there where he decides he’s going to finish the program so maybe, just maybe, he can see Tony again and tell him all the things he should have.

“I have every reason to believe that Steve will be fine.”

“Oh and we what? Just keep pushing out the other Avengers without Iron Man and Captain America? Every day I field questions, every day-” Pepper pinches the bridge of her nose, lets out an exhale. “It’s fine. I’ll figure something out. The world needs Steve, Nat.”

“And Steve needs us.”

Pepper nods her head in resignation.

“Just, be careful. I don’t know what we would do if anything happened to Steve too.” There’s the root of it, pulled up from the ground and out in the light of day. She doesn’t say that she’s part of the reason Steve is like this, that she has given him the tools he needs to fall into a hole she fears he can’t crawl out of.

“I won’t let anything happen.” Nat doesn’t let Pepper fully leave the room before she speaks again. “Tony was Tony’s best protection. None of us could have done anything differently. He knew himself, his fighting styles, the rest of the teams, better than anyone. What happened to Tony was because he knew it was the only option.” It’s words for a soldier, something that Tony never thought he was.

summary:  Sometimes Steve forgets that Tony is human underneath all the metal, under all the red and gold. After Tony dies he spends time in Tony’s workshop, goes through his schematics, his unfinished works. It’s there that he discovers binarily augmented retro framing, and there where he decides he’s going to finish the program so maybe, just maybe, he can see Tony again and tell him all the things he should have.

Steve could tell you that it’s true, that your life comes to you in flashes before it ends. The first time was memories of his mother, of Bucky, always Bucky and his sly smile, and more so than anything the feeling of hope, how he wanted nothing more than to be anything than what he was. There were scatterings of Peggy and the overwhelming image of her crying, what she most look like with tears running to her red lips.

The second time was different. Those images had taken a backseat to something burning. He thought of Natasha, of her strength but more importantly the softer side he had recently scene of her, of her ivory hands clutching a towel to her damp hair as she asked him about trust.

A glimpse of Sam running past the reflection pool.

He thought of Tony, and it wasn’t the arguments that he thought of, but instead of the kitchen table.  He thought mostly that he would miss the smell of coffee. He thought of his smile, not the one that the rest of the world saw, that was too tight, too wide and almost blinding. Instead of the smaller one, the one that didn’t show teeth but showed more in his eyes. His eyes, his eyes, his eyes, and the lines around them. With another blow to his face, he was conflicted in the gut wrenching feeling of loss and how he already missed Tony.

Master Post of Helpful Programs and Apps

I decided to make a master post of all the programs (free, of course) that I have used over the years to get me through AP’s, studying and exams! Most of these are either apps on my iPhone or programs that I have downloaded onto my Mac. However, all of these *should* be available for Android and PC as well, just let me know if something doesn’t work out!

  • Grammarly: This is a service that I use in computer program form, it is both a Chrome extension and a downloadable application. Not only does it edit your online posts (SUPER helpful to avoid making mistakes in important emails or posts!), you can download your paper into the application and it will edit both grammar and spelling in a way that I find more uniquely helpful than regular old spell check. Additionally, if you are reading a PDF or other article for school online you can click on certain words and Grammarly will define them for you!

  • Zotero: Guys, I can not stress enough what a freaking godsend this program is. You download it onto your computer, and you can save articles/PDF’s from databases directly into it as you are researching, which negates the need for thousands of tabs! You can also have it create your bibliography for you, which is insanely convenient, and you can take notes on the article within the program. That being said, the format was very confusing for me at the beginning. I would recommend watching YouTube videos on how to use it and doing the full tutorial online before you start!

  • Scribd: Scribd is both an App and a website where you can look up books and read them for free online. It does have ads if you don’t want to pay for the full version, and I would recommend the phone app as opposed to the website formatting wise! I used this to find books at the last minute, and I also used it to find the teachers key for one of my textbooks in order to check my work while I studied for an exam.

  • Quizlet: Let’s be real, we all know what this one is ;) But I have to give it a shout out! Flashcards, quizzing yourself, fun games, TONS of language options…oh Quizlet how I love you! Comes in both website and app form.

  • Pomodoro: A study timer that uses the Pomodoro method of timing out your study session with specific break time lengths and study time lengths to optimize your performance. I use this one for memorizing vocab and to study for repetitive tests like math, but I really do not find it useful for writing papers. That being said, everyone is different and some people swear by it! iPhone and Android app.

  • Forest: I love this timer app, I use this for reading and writing papers! It has the added bonus of tugging at your morality by bringing life into the equation. As you study and don’t touch your phone, a little tree is growing. When your time is up, the tree is added to your forest. But if you touch your phone before your time is up, the tree dies! I honestly get super invested in it. App for iPhone and Android.

  • Genius Scan: This one is a bit more logistical, you can take pictures of documents on your phone and it scans them and converts them to PDF’s. I used this to share notes with classmates and to have my own notes with me for on the go review. I use this one surprisingly often! App for iPhone, not sure about Android.

  • Wunderlist: Wunderlist is my all time favorite to-do list app. Generally, when I’m studying, I use a notepad to make my task list because I love the satisfaction of crossing out tasks. However, I use this for everything from chore lists to groceries to lists of books I want to read. You can have categories and multiple titled lists, and it’s super satisfying to check things off! App for iPhone, not sure about Android.

These are all the apps and programs that I use with extreme regularity, but I love productivity apps and I am always looking for more! If anybody has anything to add or has any recommendations for me pleaaasssseee tell me about them. Good luck studying!

Okay, so it’s not bad at all. The actual bad news is that I’m an ass who keeps spamming WIPs. What else am I good for? (Aside from being in a massive rut I don’t feel like rolling out of HA.)

Getting faster. Still constantly distracted, though.

anonymous asked:

How many hours do you recommend spending on a game engine playing it, like a normal player before you can attempt to create a game on that engine? I'm at almost 2k hours with Dota 2 Source, with an indeterminate hours in theory-crafting.

This is like asking “How many donuts do I need to eat before I should try making one of my own?” Eating donuts might give you some insight into the finer details of different varieties of donuts and maybe even some insight into the ingredients, but it almost certainly won’t tell you much about the techniques, tools, or timing to actually make your own donuts. If your goal is to craft your own donut masterpiece, what you need more than eating experience is kitchen experience. Knowing how to cook will enable you to do more than just cook donuts - you’ll be able to cook all sorts of other foods too.

If you want to attempt to create a game using that engine, you should practice using the engine to make stuff. It doesn’t have to be a full game, you can (and should) start working on small stuff first - create a new rule, reskin a model, animate a new taunt, create a cinematic, make a hat, or do something creative with the editors available. It doesn’t even matter if your first attempts are totally awful - everybody starts terrible at something before becoming good at it. But as you try, fail, and try again, you’ll earn valuable lessons from your mistakes. As you learn to do things, you can expand your ability to create… and, once you have some context for the creation of game content, you can start looking at what it was the developers of other games did and deconstructing the how and the why.

If you’ve played the game for 2000 hours, you might have enough context to figure out the ‘why’. But you’re almost certain to be woefully inadequate in the ‘how’ department until you’ve actually gotten experience there. Eating ten thousand donuts will teach you how the flavors of various ingredients come together and how to notice their subtle differences, but cooking ten thousand donuts will teach you how they are actually created and give you the skills to come up with your own creations and make them a reality.

I’m a drug addict. Duh. I basically had 3 years CLEAN & SOBER, and also lived in/ worked at a halfway house BY CHOICE most of that time. Then a few months ago, I moved back to my hometown. About 1 month ago, I relapsed… I know more than enough about addiction, recovery, relapse, addict behavior and personality, character defects, using patterns, overdose… The list goes on and on.
But what I DONT understand… Is how the FUCK, so many RECOVERING FUCKING DRUG ADDICTS WORKING A GODDAMN PROGRAM, can put those of us struggling with active addiction down as hard as they do. Like, you are so fucking lucky. You should REALLY be praying and thanking your higher power EVERY DAY for even giving you this new chance at life.!! Instead of drowning us in an already deep pool of self-hate, throw us a fucking rope.
Keep your distance.? Of course. That’s where your rope comes in. I don’t expect you guys to put your all into trying to save someone, nor do I reccomend it. Don’t put yourself in a dangerous situation like that.

HOWEVER… Just because you decided to get clean does NOT erase your past, or your mistakes. You are STILL and ALWAYS WILL BE A DRUG ADDICT. That fact will NEVER change. The ONLY difference between us and you; Your addiction will only FOLLOW you to your grave as long as you remain practicing the 12 steps and principles through your recovery….. Our addiction, without that previously mentioned rope, could very possibly LEAD us to our graves…. All you have is TODAY.
You are by NO MEANS, ANY better of a person than those of us still suffering down in that hole. Stop sticking your nose up in the air every time you pass by. Smile. Wave. Ask them about their day. If they need to talk, listen. Do not drill them with quotes about recovery. When they see how the promises are coming true in your life, hopefully they will come to you with questions. Maybe not, but at least you did your part to show them that there is a way out, and a better life.

These people are tortured and suffering… Remember.? You were in that hole with us not too long ago… You have to learn to give back what you were given in order to grow.

Like I said before, all you have is today. There is no telling what will, or could happen tommorow.

Even castles built with the strongest walls can crumble.
