“A Date with Markiplier”, Darkiplier Theory.

After watching “A Date with Markiplier” multiple times, and replaying and replaying the parts where Darkiplier is featured; I have created a theory as to why Dark acts the way he does (In these videos, not as whole). Now, let me first start off by saying, this probably, (definitely) is not the BEST Dark theory out there. And there are probably holes are mistakes in this theory, or repeating themes. But nonetheless, it is a theory that I have created that is interesting.. hopefully. Note: This theory comes with spoilers! If you haven’t watched the whole video, or at least the Dark parts, please do. (The video and Darkiplier parts are linked above.) And even if it may not seem like it, I worked really hard and long on this theory. (Literally about 3 days. And typing all of this up took about 2-4 hours.) So please treat it with respect. (But don’t be afraid to add your own theories or thoughts on this! Feedback is always welcome. Positive or negative. Just don’t be a butt about it.) So, without further ado, let us begin! I hope you have the patience to read it all. Enjoy!

This theory is mainly based on the parts where you are confronted by Dark while you are watching “The Dark Mark”. What you are going to read below is me basically showing images of Dark, taking direct quotes he has said in the videos, and explaining why he is saying what he does.

We start off by having Dark glitch and fade into view. He tilts his head to the side, saying he has missed us very much. And that he has been waiting a long time to see us again.

Then he continues on saying: “I’ve been pushed asideReplacedMocked.” Now this caught my attention even from the beginning. How has Dark been pushed aside, replaced, and mocked? Who has done this to him? Why? I tried to reflect more on what that meant, but Dark kept talking, catching my attention even more…

Who is “He”? And why does Dark think this… “He” is going on an adventure with us? Why and how was Dark not invited to it?

Dark continues…

Dark mentions “He” again. Saying this person promised he would let him in. Again. Who promised Dark and what promise was made between them?

This is where the theory begins. The main idea of this theory is based on a small post I made a while ago. If you have already read it, then you’ll understand where I’m going with this. If not, I suggest you read it really quick HERE

And now… we shall truly begin.

Dark begins our one-sided conversation with: “I’ve been pushed aside, replaced, mocked.” But what also connects with this statement is what he says later: “ I’ve been waiting patientlyHe promised he would let me in again!” Now, since Dark is basically Mark’s inner demon, I could only assume that the “He” Dark keeps talking about is Mark. But what promise did Mark make with Dark? This is where I start to lean back on my older theory I hope you have read.

I believe that Dark is in love with us. Or… at least has some sort of feelings for us. Or is at least curious about us. So, I think in the past Dark asked Mark permission to take control over Mark’s body so that he could spend time with us. Get to know the person he has unexplainable feelings for. Mark complied. Promising Dark that one day, Dark would have the opportunity to talk to us. But that day never came. And now Dark feels as if he has been Pushed aside. Replaced. And Mocked. These feelings have been repressed, but now since Mark is on this “adventure”, or “date” with us, Dark’s feelings and anger have come out. Dark feels that he has been pushed aside because he literally has been pushed aside. This date was supposed to be the date Dark was finally allowed to spend time with us. But instead… he got pushed. Pushed into the deepest, darkest, places of Mark’s mind. Mark didn’t want Dark to come out on this date. Because he was planning, later down the road, to propose to us. And he didn’t want Dark to ruin it. So Mark took over Dark, replacing him, even though he promised Dark that he would be allowed to take control. And now, Dark feels angry, hurt, and mocked. Mocked because today was supposed to be his day with us. But now he has to watch us through Mark’s eyes. Unable to do anything. Unable to talk to us and ask the questions he’s always wanted to ask. All he can do is stand back and watch the person he has feelings for go on a date with someone who betrayed him.

“And then he had the gall not to invite me to his little adventure with you.” This connects to what I said above. Mark has pushed Dark aside and didn’t allow him to take over on the date. Quite literally, he wasn’t invited on the date. He was casted away and replaced. But the one word Dark said that caught my attention was: “Adventure”. Why did Dark call it an adventure when he knew it was a date. A proposal, even? I believe the reason to be simple. Dark is angry and jealous right now. He doesn’t even want to call the event we are going on with Mark as a “date”. So, instead, he calls it an adventure. Making it easier on him and his heart. Also hoping in that calling it an adventure, he’ll make Mark look silly and foolish. As if he doesn’t know what a real “date” is.

This part was very interesting. After saying all he said, spewing out his anger and frustration, Dark fixes his tie and suit, straightening up and saying: “ I’m tired of giving people a choice.” From what we have learned earlier, this sentence can only mean that he is tired of giving Mark the choice on controlling when and where he can allow him to take control.

But then, Dark sighs, saying: “But I suppose I could give you one last option.” Hearing Dark say this was extremely odd to me. Didn’t he just say that he was tired of giving people (Mark) a choice? But yet right after, he turns around to give us options and the ability to choose? I think he does this because no matter how closed off or frustrated he may get, he still wants to give the us the ability to choose. Since he has some sort of feelings for us, he doesn’t want to force us into something we don’t want to do.

He continues: “Take your pick. Anything of four different choices, more than he could’ve ever given you.” Why did Dark give us so many options. Why did he bitterly say “more than he could have ever given you.”? And why did all options but one actually lead to a place that continues the story?

I think the bitter remark and the option of more choices go back to Dark’s “adventure” statement. He wants to make Mark look foolish. Make Mark look like he can’t provide for us as much as he can. Even if it’s something simple as being able to go more places. But why, in giving us all these options, did only one actually go somewhere? It’s because, even though Dark does have feelings for us, he still is “dark”. He is still evil, demonic, etc. He purposefully made only one option that actually goes somewhere. He makes us go on a “date” with him (later on) the only way he knows how. Manipulation and Illusion. He gives us the illusion of choice, when really he manipulated it so there is only one right way. And that is to go on a date and spend time with him.

This makes him sound pretty evil doesn’t it? That he just manipulates and cheats his way through until he gets what he wants. And that may be true, but.. At the same time, it’s actually pretty sad. That is all he knows. To cheat, to steal, and manipulate… Dark was toyed with and replaced. Promised he would be allowed to be with us. But that didn’t happen. And now Dark is forced to make his own path. Struggle to take control over Mark, and find a way to where we will spend time with him. Not Mark.

“So take your pick. Show me what you’ve got. And maybe… We’ll have a good date after all.” Wait what?! Did Dark look down shyly at the ground… Smile… And say “Date”?! This really blew my mind after I watched it a couple times.

After taunting us on by saying: “Show me what you’ve got.” Dark pauses, his face suddenly seems to soften. “And maybe…” He cracks what looks to be a smile and briefly looks down at the ground, “ We’ll have a good date after all.” He looks back up, but his face and body immediately harden and become cold and static once more. What just happened?! Mark randomly says “Maybe we’ll have a good date after all.” And he shows emotion and smiles? Why does he do this? I think I know why.

Obviously, Dark has been waiting to spend time with us. And now that he has Mark under control and is alone with us, he finally realizes that his dream of being with us is soon to become reality. He smiles and quickly looks down to hide his emotion that he is excited for this long awaited day. And, instead of calling it an “adventure” like he did when he vaguely defined our outing with Mark, he says “date”. Making it official and saying it more for himself than us. But then, after he realizes he slipped: showing emotion and calling our alone time a “date”, his face hardens and he composes himself back into the stone cold Darkiplier once more. But in trying so hard to compose himself, he lets a small, angry frown dance dance across his face before straightening. Showing that he is angry with himself for showing so much ambition.

(Note: Phew! This is a lot of writing! I hope you guys are doing ok and you like this! Stay in your seat, there’s a lot more to yet come!)

*We choose “Freedom”*

“If dinner is what you want then I can provide…” We are now officially on what Dark described as a date. He glitches and we are suddenly sitting at a table with what looks to be a cup and a bottle of wine to the side. As I watched and rewatched this, I found it interesting that Dark chose to place us in a dinner date situation. The same setting we were at when we were with Mark. And say things like: “I can provide…” Why did he place us in a dinner date setting? Why did he say if we wanted dinner, then he could provide it? The answer is interesting.

Remember, the whole date you were having with Mark, Dark was also seeing and experiencing. So that means, Dark was there even for when Mark misplaced his wallet, making you have to pay for the meal. This obviously annoyed Dark. Enough to the point where he had to physically point out and show us that if we wanted dinner, he could pay. He could provide us with a meal. This is basically a big slap in the face to Mark. Once again, Dark is trying to make Mark look idiotic and that the outing/ date we were on with Mark, wasn’t a date after all. And that he can do a better job on planning a date and providing.

The date carries on. “And I can take you wherever you’d like to go…” I found this odd when Dark said this. It’s kind of a random thing to say on a date isn’t it? But it all makes more sense when you look at it this way:

Near the beginning and basically throughout our whole date with Mark, he keeps saying that he has our whole day planned out. And that he can’t wait to take us to certain places. I think Dark said this as yet another jab towards Mark. Mark had our whole day planned, swiftly leading us from one location to another. But Dark said: “ I can take you wherever you’d like to go..” almost as a counteroffer to what Mark was doing for us. There is a sense of freedom when Dark says he can take us wherever we would like to go. A sense of freedom and choice. Dark seems to be using this statement to try and make him look more appealing to us than Mark. Possibly even more fun or risky than Mark.

After Dark states he can take us anywhere, he then dumps this heavy and scary: “I can especially take you to where you don’t want to go..” on us.

Honestly, I was a little confused on why he would say this. Is it because he’s “dark” and evil and he would actually enjoy to take us places we would hate? Or is he using some weird, vague form of reverse phycology? Is he saying that “the places where we don’t want to go…” is back to Mark? It would kind of make sense. After saying and telling us of all the things he can do for us and provide for us, the last thing he would want is for us to still choose and go back to Mark. But he says that he can take us to where we don’t want to go, meaning that he would take us back to Mark if we chose that.

Dark continues to talk, but then he begins to glitch and shake. He is then suddenly screaming: “I can give you anything!” And then as fast as it came, it goes, and he continues talk to us normally saying: “I’ve been waiting a long time. To get some personal time between us…” Ok… What just happened here? He was screaming one minute and then normal again the next?

I think Dark glitches and screams “I can give you anything!”, because he momentarily looses his composure. He’s been spending a good portion of this date trying to show us that he can provide for us and comparing himself to Mark. I think he starts to become frustrated in himself and how we aren’t reacting the way he would have hoped. Thus, his inner voice comes out, screaming, frustrated and angry that we can’t understand that he can give and provide everything we want and need.

After his short episode, he continues talking. Saying he’s been waiting a long time to “get some personal time between us…” I think he’s saying this because the only time he has ever been with us, or has “spent time with us”, is when he is being pushed to the back of Mark’s mind and has to watch from the sidelines and listen and hear Mark’s words and thoughts. But now that he has finally taken over Mark, he can truly get the personal alone time he’s always lusted over.

The date continues, and Dark has one more episode. But what happens next is interesting. Dark says: “So.. Now that we are here together… We should really get to know each other…” And then suddenly, it looks like Dark is split in two. One part of him thrashing around and screaming. Why? Because it’s Mark… Trying to escape Dark’s possession of his body.

Remember, this whole time we have been with Dark, Mark has been there, watching and listening to what Dark is saying. (Which also explains why at times, Dark twitches his head. Its because Mark is there in the back of his mind try to take control once again.) So Mark has been fighting Dark this whole time, and it seems Dark is slowly running out of time and loosing control, hence the episodes he keeps having. But notice where Mark made a big push to take control when he did. He did it right after Dark said we should “get to know each other…” It seems as if Mark didn’t like the idea of Dark getting to know us, and vise versa. Probably thinking Dark is going to take advantage of us at some point on the date. So, he tries and puts all his strength in trying to take back control before Dark can do anything to us. But once again, as quickly as it starts, Dark glitches and the image of Mark is gone, and Dark is back to normal.

You just need to let me in… It’s as simple as that…

When I first heard this, I thought that Dark meant that we should allow him into our mind or soul. But as I began to create this theory, I began to think… What if Dark didn’t mean our soul or mind… But our heart? I mean, during this whole date he has been trying and trying to show us how much better he is than Mark, and how he can do all these things for us. Basically saying, how he can care and love us, just in a very “Darkiplier” way. What if he just wants to be loved by us. Accepted by us? And the only way he knows how to say that is something off putting like: “You just need to let me in..” Maybe all he wants is just a chance  with us. A chance to show how much he cares and ask us why he is feeling the way he does about us?

After asking us to place him in our heart, and give him a chance, Dark then takes us outside. Believing that he has taken full control over Mark and boasting about it by saying: “You’re never, EVER, going to escape me…Not now-” He is confronted by Mark, in physical form. (Now this part can basically just completely eradicate my theory that Dark has taken over Mark, and not that they are two different people with their own bodies. Now that theory, COULD technically work here, but I decided I like the “Mark and Dark are two in one” theory better. Since Dark IS essentially Mark’s inner-demon. So I’m going to say that this part is actually where Mark gains some power within his mind, and now Dark and Mark are fighting for dominance.)

After they fight for a while, a gun is dropped and you now have to decide to choose whether to shoot the left or right Mark. Later on, we find out the the Right is Dark, and Left is Mark. And this is where I was confused with what they are saying until I put up the captions. And what each of them were saying was interesting.

Left Mark (the real Mark) starts off by saying: “You don’t have much time he’s going to kill everybody.”

While Right Mark (Dark) says: “Shoot him. He needs to die.”

The thing I found interesting was what they both first said to defend themselves. Left Mark (Mark), immediately starts off by saying that: There isn’t much time, and that Right Mark is going to kill everyone. Mark is trying to warn us. While Right Mark (Dark), just simply says off instinct: “Shoot him. He needs to die.”… Now that’s harsh. Mark just wants to warn us that if we don’t shoot Dark, we will all die. So he’s trying to save both us and himself. But Dark just spurts out that Mark NEEDS to die. No note of concern, or worry. No thought of what might happen afterwards. They keep talking, still trying to convince us:

Mark says: “He’s got weird eyes. Don’t trust him at all.”

While Dark says: “He does bad things to good people.”

Now, the thing I found extremely interesting was this part right here. Mark says that Dark has weird eyes, which is true. He is known for having completely Dark eyes. But how he said the next part is what caught my attention. Mark said: “DON’T trust him at all.”. He didn’t say “I don’t trust him at all.” But simply, “Don’t trust him…” Therefore, Mark was telling US not to trust Dark. It was a command. Because he knows what Dark is able to do.

What Dark says also caught my attention. Why would Dark say: “He does bad things to good people.”? Isn’t Dark supposed to be the “bad guy” here? Manipulating and weaving around things to get to what he wants? True, that is what he did to get us to date him. But just because he did those things, do you think he even wanted to? We have already proven that in the past, Dark asked for permission to spend time with us. But since that didn’t happen, Dark had to take control. All because Mark betrayed his promise to Dark. So maybe, Dark is saying “He does bad things to good people.” Because he’s hurt and angry that Mark didn’t fill out his promise. That Mark led him on only to be trapped in the back of his mind again, while he got ready to propose to the person Dark had feelings for without even been given a chance.

After we shoot Left Mark, Right Mark comes over saying: “You made the right call. Come here, it’s okay, it’s okay.” Assuring us and embracing us. We then continue the date by getting ice cream. We sit down while Right Mark continues to talk, saying: “We’ll enjoy some nice, dairy-based treats. And erm, get to know other. Really, personally…” We then begin to eat our ice cream when the screen flickers and glitches. We look back up and are greeted to see Dark sitting across form us. Dark then says: “Oops. Looks like you’ve made the wrong choice. But now we’re going to be together… forever.”

When I first watched this side of the date, I paid no regard to what Right Mark said. But after rewatching the mini date we had with Dark, and going back to this, I noticed something. Dark always seems to talk about getting to know us, or getting close to us. Spending personal time with with. Before, during our private date with Dark, he said: “I’ve been waiting a long time. To get some personal time between us…”  So when right Mark said: “Really, personally…” It became obvious that it was Dark sitting in front of us. After Dark transforms into his true self, he then says: “Oops. Looks like you’ve made the wrong choice.” I believe Dark said this because he knew, that if we knew who the real Mark was back when we had to decide who to shoot, we would have chosen the real Mark hands down. So he kept quiet. Hoping that with luck, he could say the right words and look innocent enough and emulate Mark, that we would shoot the wrong man. Before we are met with “Try Again?”, Dark continues, “But now we’re going to be together..forever.” and smiles. The first time I heard this, it sounded creepy, and some of you might think so as well. But I think Dark said this because he was finally free. Free of Mark’s hold on him. And free to be with the person he is curious about and has unexplained feelings for. He’s finally free to provide and care for us, without Mark battling for control in the back of his mind. Because that part of him is now dead. He can finally get to know us. Get that personal, intimate time he has always yearned for. He’s finally found freedom from being pushed aside. Being replaced and being mocked. He can finally have a true chance with us. A chance… for us to let him into our heart. Because we’ve always been in his.

Things I’d like to see on Booklr
  • Reviews for backlist books. I don’t care if you’re reading something old for the first time. You just read Sabriel by Garth Nix? Or the Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta?  Or maybe Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz? DO A REVIEW FOR IT! Maybe it’s not the newest and hottest book right now, but there are so many older novels to discover and reviews help that!
  • Buzz for non-YA novels. I love the Young Adult genre/age group. But there’s a TON of books that aren’t Young Adult that would be fun to discuss and share! Occasionally we get non-YA books that get popular because of their appeal to the YA audience (The Night Circus, Shades of Magic, Song of Achilles, etc) but I wanna hear about more! Tell me about the mystery you’re reading, the poetry book you picked up, the old sci-fi series you found on sale! There’s a lot of books out there! If YA isn’t your thing, no worries, I still want to see blogs and posts for books outside that area!
  • Support Reviews. I’m just as guilty of this. I don’t tend to reblog or like reviews, even though I constantly skim, read, and look at what bloggers have to say. Reviews are essential to book blogging in general and great for the book industry! We should reblog and comment on them more! Show reviews your support, that you’re out there reading what they have to say, let them know if you pick up the book or not, share the review so others see it and maybe discover their next favorite book!
  • Discussion Posts. I know that some say that longer posts just don’t work on tumblr, but I love seeing discussion posts and reviews on booklr! Wordpress blogs are more likely to have discussion posts or just longer posts about books and stuff in the community, but I would love to see this stuff on here to. The fun thing about tumblr is it’s a very versatile blogging platform, from just reblogging to adding your own content into the community. Maybe we’ve all skipped over a long post because “TL;DR” but I think that reblogs and comments are perfect for talking and adding to discussion posts, so why don’t we all utilize it more?
  • Support non-English Readers! Every time I see a photo of a book that’s not in English, I notice that it has significantly fewer notes than of pictures of that book in English. I’m not sure what’s up with that? A lot of times you can recognize the book because the covers are the same, it just happens to have the title in Russian or Spanish or whatever language. Lots of people don’t read in English and that’s GREAT! There’s a lot of languages out there and those who read in their native language deserve support for their blog too! (Obviously)
  • REBLOG REBLOG REBLOG. bookavid used to talk about this sometimes, but likes aren’t always great for bloggers. I put a LOT of love and work into my blog and so does everyone else in the community. We work hard on posts, reviews, and photos! Reblog them if you like them! That lets us know you like what we’re doing and more people see it and we feel validated for our hard work. It’s always depressing when I post something and it gets 10 likes so I post it again and wonder if people don’t like it? Is it worth putting the work into if no one sees it or seems to care? I know some people try to stick to the theme of their blog but when you can, support bloggers and reblog instead of just liking it and scrolling on!

I know booklr has felt dead recently, but I’m not giving up until you pry this blog from my cold dead hands! Reach out, talk to people, let me know if you want me to check out your blog, talk to me about books, talk to other people about books, make posts even if you feel your blog is small and unimportant (it’s not, fyi). I love this community and I want to see it thriving again! I want to talk to you guys, hear your thoughts, get recommendations, and make friends

-Dakota

P.S. What do you want to see more of on booklr?? Comment, reblog, message me, let me know 😄

one thing i hate in the way a lot of current theatre people engage with sondheim is they forget that he… has a sense of humor? i heard someone say that angela lansbury was bad in sweeney because she was “too funny” in the part which is so ??????? what’s wild is that even as deep as the themes are in shows like sweeney todd, into the woods, or company… the shows are funny! and the humor is also so necessary because it’s part of what makes them so engaging and helps to keep them from dragging or feeling bogged down!! and i just see so many productions that always seem to forget to pay attention to the comedy because there is so much humor in his work.

anonymous asked:

Hey I really trust you taste, do you have any manga you'd absolutely recommend? (specifically LGBTQ manga but it doesn't have to be)

if you’re up for a really raw autobiographic story about the struggles of becoming a “proper” adult, social anxiety, emotional connections and coming to terms with one’s sexuality, i reccomend The Private Report on My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness (contains a lot of heavy topics like eating disorders and self-harm)

- Nagata Kabi has also recently released a sequel to Private Report, though at the moment there’s very little information about it available in English. however, Private Report is getting a proper English release next year, so make sure to buy it guys!!

if you’re up for a real cute and lighthearted autobiographic story (basically the opposite of Private Report) about one woman’s experiences growing up, transitioning, and getting married, that manages to be very heartwarming and gentle while also containing a lot of information about the state of LGBT issues in modern Japan, i reccomend Hanayome wa Motodanshi (”The Bride Was Once A Boy”)

- the author, Chii, continues to write/draw small comics about her and her friends’ lives (some are just gag strips, others cover more serious topics) and posts them to her personal site as well as her Twitter

Shimanami Tasogare has recently gotten some attention for being explicitly about LGBT people and themes. Tasuku, a boy who’s recently moved to a new school, is almost driven to suicide when he fears he’s been outed to his classmates. he’s saved when he meets a strange woman who introduces him to “the lounge,” where other queer people have come to create their own community together

i could really reccomend anything by Yuhki Kamatani, if not on the merit of their gorgeous artwork and visual metaphors, for their delicate and thoughtful writing. Kamatani is ace and x-gender, and Shimanami Tasogare seems like a deeply personal story to them for the issues and themes explored in it

the other Kamatani work i’ll reccomend is Shounen Note, which is surprisingly like a sports manga even though it’s about competitive choir. i love the art in it as well, as well as many of the themes- talent, coming of age, identity, and gender among them

(note: i’ve also heard good things about Nabari no Ou but i haven’t read it myself yet)

i actually have only read her oneshots and shorter comics at this moment, but i’d also like to reccomend Akiko Morishima. there’s something very cute and down to earth about her art, and she… well, she really loves yuri. really, really intensely. but she does explore more serious themes with her GL, and i find a lot of her more ‘realistic’ and autobiographic stuff very relatable

there’s also a couple of BL and GL manga i could list here, (several of which i like very very much) but today, for this post, i wanted to specifically boost queer mangaka, because unfortunately, queer artists are often overshadowed by “LGBTQ stories” that are actually written by straight artists. there’s nothing wrong with writing outside your own sexuality, but i’d really like it if we could promote actual queer people and their art as much as everyone else!!

Special Fic Rec ❤❤

Ok so, I began this blog on December 9th, well, actually I’ve been on tumblr since 2013 (nice, old Naruto Era), yet, I consider this one the actual date of this blog birth, since it was the day I posted my first BTS Fanfiction - Sanitarium (which I still hold very dearly to my heart).

To be honest, even if writing has been one of my passions for many years, I never expected much from my own stories, especially since English killed me in more than one way (ah, it kicked my ass so hard during my high school days lol); yet, I surprisingly found an incredible amount of happiness in writing for seven lovely dorks - not to talk about the crazy, wonderful authors and friends I had the pleasure to meet here, people who helped me grow and who gave me some of the most pleasurable reading moments of my life :’)

But I was saying, I didn’t expect much from posting my fics, yet, nearly 5 months later, I reach my first mile stone. Really, I can’t believe it: 1k people are reading my fics, and supposedly they also enjoy them. It happened quite fast, in my opinion, and I also know I’ve been very lucky for many authors are amazing and still don’t have the exposure they deserve! It takes them a lot of hard work when they should really be appreciated a lot more! This is why, to celebrate this milestone (ok, compared to other authors is not that big of a number, but still I consider it an important accomplishment ;^;) I decided to do a special, big fic rec to share the talent filling this social!!

Some of these writers are super known actually, yet others have a smaller public: they have such a fantastic way with words tho, such a breath-taking creativity, that I just needed to tag them and link their stories - hopefully, some of you will fall in love with their work too; please, if so, go send them all a lot of love, for they are not holy amazing authors but also amazing people :’)

And I’m incredibly happy to have some of them as mutuals, if not even as friends <3 <3

Word Count: ~1500

Steve opened his eyes with a start in the room he claimed as his in the SHIELD facility that the Avengers were temporarily calling home. The room was little more than a barracks; it should have been familiar, but nothing had felt familiar in a while.

Brows drawn in concentration, Steve focused on where he knew the speakers were located.

“Tony?” he rasped up at the ceiling, staring blindly into the dark. When there was no answer, he murmured wryly, “I’m losing sleep because of you.”

A Story about the Tin Whistle

So at my old college, the first weekend every store in the town would have a sale. Being that it was primarily a music school there was a music store and so my roommate being a music major, wanted to go inside.

There was a five dollar bin and in the bin was a record with a coloring book of Frozen with it. I had to have it. It was disappointing to find that sheet music for a recorder didn’t work with it but tin whistle sheet music seemed to work. So technically it isn’t a tin whistle, it’s a recorder that is cheaply made.

That’s not even where the story begins.

I loved the tin whistle and I learned how to play classics. One night after a night learning Hedwig’s Theme, I realized my window had been open. And someone had posted on Yik Yak about me.

Being the ho for attention that I am I decided to sit in the window and play my tin whistle. The only songs I knew from memory at this point were Christmas Carols, so in Mid-October at 3 in the morning, I sat in my window and played Christmas carols for all the campus to hear.

I did that many nights, and was Yik Yaks about many times. I also though, disturbed my RA many times, three times to be exact. And received a noise citation. At my old school when you apply to be an RA they look at your record to see what kind of person you are, if you have any citations.

The interviewer for this position had to look me in the eyes and ask me why I was playing Christmas Carols at ungodly hours of the night, three times. I told him that I did it a lot more than three times, but other students had found it entertaining.

Needless to say I didn’t get the position.

Fairy Tail Chapter 529 Review

Let’s just get into: Teacher

COver page of Galuna, I like it.

So Acnologia (not shooting them down for some reason) follows after Blue Pegasus.

yes because to follow up the tension of being chased by the all powerful dragon, with ship pandering. It’s just like with Lucy being forced to strip and warm natsu while trying to make me affraid that he might die.

Also Erza’s Tits are the size of Wendy’s head… Great to know.

then she must’ve suffered from the lack of oxygen.

So Blue Pegasus tries to fight back. On the one hand I’m glad minor characters are doing something, but again this was never built up. BP hasn’t been a presence in this arc aside ichiya. This feels hollow.

Wow memory loss sure is selective. Okay Here’s my problem, I hate this twist, i despise it. 2 weeks ago, I stood up for the twist that August being Zeref’s son was good, and I stand by it. Because Hiro had, built up August, created clues that would questions Larcade’s claims of being the child, and genuinely got me off guard with all the clues in front of me. But this twist, I didn’t see it coming because it came from nowhere. None of this was ever alluded to being possible, we get Anna’s explanation of how she’s here but again, never were we given any clue this could happen. And the reason she is here is to be a deus ex machina. I want people to imagine this objectively, just the bare bones description, a monster seems unbeatable but a person we’ve never foreshadowed comes in with the answer to defeat them. Objectively that is not good writing. And It gets worse.

Really Anna? You did because…

looks like Igneel was the one who did that. This is one of my biggest problems with this retcon, by making Anna their caretaker that they don’t remember, you have weakened the ideas and sympathy of the bonds between the kids and their dragons. Now in the memories of Natsu’s heart it’s said Anna was close to them but it seemed to imply she was a friend while the dragons did the parenting, but now your telling me that one of only parenting aspects we knew about the dragons was wrong and that really they just seemed to exist to teach them Dragon Slaying Magic, wow thanks a lot for pissing on that.

We cut away to Gray and Lucy…

“Hurry to the guild, Natsu needs you” was more a suggestion apparently

You know Lucy, you’ve done nothing this arc. You’ve sat on your butt and did nothing. And now when you are need, you are crying over your man instead of actually finding an answer. God Damnit Lucy.

We cut to Natsu and Zeref Fighting

Zeref is becoming more and more transparently evil and Natsu stays as the only good thing this chapter

Back to Anna

No, that was what the dragons existed for, to be their parents, not you. You existed existed to open the gate.

convenient wasn’t it.

NO it was because you were a retcon that didn’t need to exist. If you were a real care taker maybe you should’ve, I don’t know, actually taken care of them, get them ready to fight acnologia, the whole reason their here in the first place. No, I’ll just leave them in the care of who ever they end up with.

Let’s just keep ripping off Rave Master at this point. If Natsu and Zeref fight in Star Memory, I swear to god…

Okay Why I’m so mad with Anna in this chapter, because I know where this is going, she exists to deliver us to a solution that was never built possible till now. But since she’s a side character related to a main character, she’s going to have a big emotional moment where she sacrifices her self or powers up or does something big and emotional and it will fall flat because it was to a character we just met and so it will feel hollow. OR she doesn’t die and gets happy ending with everyone else, which wow that suck on a side character we just introduced this arc gets a happy ending while doing nothing of value before.

Both these options are terrible, and lean toward the first is going to happen because it’s happen 3 times this arc and I’m sure it’ll be done again.

Also this key to beating Acnologia comes off as Hiro didn’t have faith himself to write a satisfying fight between the DS and Acnologia so he had to create an insta-kill. But hey understandable, but Hiro maybe you could’ve introduced this with another character. Say Zeref the one who’s been obsessed with time apparently, or DImaria the woman with the god of time in her, or maybe August the guy who knows about everything Zeref has in plan, but no, we had to bring in Anna. Why can’t you work with the characters you’ve made Hiro?

Post Chapter follow up: I think people have noticed my distaste for Anna, and it isn’t just because she’s a deus ex machina, but rather she just ruined the concept of the DS and their dragon parents, by saying she was their real caretaker. Fuck you Anna for ruining one of the best examples of FT’s theme of Family with those who aren’t related to you, because a dragon raising you even though it’s a completly different species, is dashed as they now seem like they existed to teach humans DS magic because they wanted to beat Acnologia.

She has no reason to be here and robs other characters of potential, but I can’t change what’s now been written so I will come in open to Anna next time because I was ready to do the same with Wendy Belserion, I didn’t like the twist but damn it, you introduced it, make it interesting.

Gray and Lucy’s interlude is just pointless and fills out the chapter. The time thing bothers me as outside of the eclipse arc, FT has no reason to involve time rifts or time travel. It worked in Rave Master because the underlining theme was Fate vs Free will. But FT would make more sense with its theme is the DS beat Acnologia because they worked together, their bonds and teamwork proved greater than blind destruction.

Pros this chapter, It is fun seeing Blue Pegasus fight back. Even though they weren’t foreshadowed, it is nice to have them do something.

Natsu vs Zeref looks like it’s coming to a close. I like how the more emotions Zeref is getting he’s becoming more psychotic as the contridiction curse is basically causes his thoughts to be in flux.

Final Verdict: 2/10

  • There is some good action
  • There is use of previous material, making feel like it’s important
  • The retcon does more harm than good
  • A very predictable finale is on the horizon

One magitek arm!

Nerdy details: I worked from concept art of known magitek devices, such as annoying goddamn claws, the magitek mount, and iron giants. I noticed black and silver with red illuminants seems to be the theme. Kind of like a ghetto version of alagan stuff, not half as much illuminanting sections.

I’m going to work on a back shot tomorrow to show Sarnai’s spine which…. is very mech and probably my hand will be in even more pain tomorrow. Annnnd mention more about what exactly put him in this position.

nooradeservedbetter  asked:

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers (◠‿◠✿)

Hiii! I meant to do this thing for a while! Sorry it took me so long!

Hmmm, let’s see. I’ll stick to my 1D and H/L fics for this… It’d look different if I included all my fics I’ve ever written, but I don’t think anyone who follows me here is from any other fandom :)

1. Empty Skies - it’s probably the most complex thing I’ve written? It’s also very dear to me because I love the exes to lovers trope, the whole theme of forgiveness and showing that even when it seems to be so clear, there’s always more to a story. It’s never just one of them at fault when a relationship doesn’t work out.

2. Jump Before We Fall - This one is so dear to me, because it’s basically just an ode to my home in England. I used to live and work in a hotel by the sea, just like it’s described in this fic. There’s a lot of personal experience in this fic, and even more of my heart and soul.

3. Walk Away You’re Messed Up - I got to focus on their characters and how OT5 works and influence each other. That was really fun, because I think there’s not many OT5 fics that show just how perfectly they complemented each other. A lot of thought went into this to make this an AU mirroring canon, just to show that these five boys would find each other in every universe.

4. Nameless Night - it should be much higher on my list, really. I got to turn the soulmate trope around. I just took it and made this fic the anti-soulmate fic LOL also, I loved building this universe and get to critically write about social problems and show that, once again, things are not always black and white. And that, sometimes, love is not enough. (Although, in the end, love wins, of course :D)

5. Your Best Line Ever - The shampoo fic, isn’t it? I don’t even know where that idea came from. The prompt is one I had actually read in another fandom, and wanted to use for a different pairing. Then, 1D happened, and I swiftly went wild with it and wrote my first H/L fic :D

(Paint Me in A Million Dreams will get in there once it’s finished, but I wouldn’t know which one it’ll replace…..)

Okay, I’m not gonna send out asks, I’ll just tag a few people (or a few more…) @karamelised, @cherrystreet, @actuallyredorchid, @loveloveolivia and @tvshows-addict aaaaaand @lucystarkid (I forgot you, hooooowwww could iii?) – your turn :)

I realize that it’s Flinthamilton week and I’ve been wanting to do something to participate, but here’s the thing - I’m constitutionally incapable of writing short things. I just can’t seem to do it, and I have absolutely nothing short written that fits the bill, so instead, have a sneak peek at the first chapter of an upcoming project - don’t get too excited, it’s going to be a while before this one sees the light of Ao3 since I haven’t even got chapter 2 written yet:

Theme: After the Reunion

He feels as though he’s been asleep for ten years.

It’s an odd thing, Thomas Hamilton thinks, to reawaken after so long. In some ways, he feels as though nothing has changed. His living arrangements certainly are little different. The work is the same - back-breaking, tedious, creating calluses on top of his calluses, the sun beating down and turning his skin a shade of brown he’s never particularly thought complements his straw-colored hair. In others -

He has James back. The knowledge is incredible, still, new enough that every so often he recalls and it feels again as though he had just looked up from the field to find a man dressed in red and brown standing at the end of the row, looking at him as though he might just possibly be the solution to a question he had not dared to ask himself in a very long time. He looks into green eyes - into James’ eyes, feels James’ arms around him, hears James weeping against his shoulder, and -

He has kept everything stuffed away for so long. In his mind, there is a Pandora’s box. It holds so many things - so many wonderful, awful, terrifying things, and until now, he has done a good job of keeping it closed. The hinges, if such a thing could ever have hinges, are rusted, the keyhole crusted over -

And James’ return takes the box, shakes it, and sends everything flying.

He is happy. That is the first emotion to come flying out of the box. There is no denying the joy that floods him with James’ reintroduction to his life - no denying the absolute relief and wonder with which he looks at his lover, that causes him to laugh and cry into James’ shoulder and into his lips for an hour after they first spot one another, to kiss him over and over and over again with no regard for anyone or anything around them. There is no denying, either, how he feels at having another mind working in perfect harmony with his own again after all these years.

“I’m gonna get us out of here,” James says into Thomas’ shoulder, his voice rough with emotion and with the accent he had hidden in London and now seems to have embraced, and Thomas’ breath catches in his throat at the notion. Freedom - to leave here, with James at his side. He clings tighter to him, feeling as if his chest is tight, as if he can scarcely breathe, as he answers.

“Everyone,” he murmurs. “All of them. I’ll not leave them behind,” and he is relieved when James nods, no words needed between them. He understands - completely and fully, and he buries his face in Thomas’ shoulder again, as relieved to understand as to be understood. They walk back to Thomas’ meager quarters - to the quarters they will share until they can escape this place for good - and Thomas cannot help the energy that fills him - the restless itch as his mind blows off some of its cobwebs and returns to some semblance of itself as it once was. He is whole. He is overjoyed, he is shocked, he is -

Two days later, he sits in bed, arm still curled around James’ bare shoulders, and realizes that he is angry.

It’s a slow thing at first. He wakes with James beside him, and for a moment there is nothing but happiness. He is here, with James. Beyond all hope, he is alive. They are safe -

But not free.

The thought strikes him out of the clear blue sky - like a fact he has not processed entirely. It has not signified to him for some time whether he is free or not. He has had nowhere to go - no one to go back to, no hint of life outside these walls. James comes blowing in though, and -

He has spent the past two nights in bed with James. He has tasted the salt on his lover’s skin, has seen the bronzed tone of it where his clothing has not covered him, has mouthed over the earring that he has gotten in the time they have been apart and been held in arms that are far more muscular than they ever were before, and for the first time in six years, Thomas Hamilton wants more than these four walls and this dirt floor. He can feel his mind stretching, the unused corners of it suddenly coming to light, and he cannot help but feel disgust for the way that he has been forced to neglect it for the past decade. He cannot remember the last time he actually cared about his appearance. He cannot recall the taste of good food or what it felt like to spend a day by himself, or the smell of a new book or -

God, he has been trapped here, stagnating for so very long and he is incandescently bloody furious about it.

The sensation strikes him all at once one night as they sit in the bunkhouse they now inhabit. He’s not expecting it - it is so long since he has felt this, has felt anything but resignation and boredom. It takes him entirely by surprise, rising as he listens to the tale of how James has arrived here - as he grows to know the people that have inhabited James’ life, grows to understand what his lover has been through - as he realizes the depth of the horror that James has endured. Has been made to endure.

“Stop.” The word is a whisper - something squeezed out of him almost against his will, that escapes before he can recall it, for surely he does not have the right to ask James to stop his tale when James has had no such luxury for the past ten years, and yet -

“Thomas?” James asks quietly, his voice concerned, and Thomas looks at him, blue eyes meeting green. The sound of James’ voice saying his name is balm, and yet -

God, it has been ten years. Ten years deprived of it and how dared they? How dare they keep him from the man he loved all this time - all these years? How did Peter manage to lie to him so effectively - so convincingly? Had he just been exhausted and made gullible by it or -?

He is shaking, he realizes - shaking with the power of what he feels. He has not felt anything of the kind in -

“Quiet down!”

Thomas shakes, rocking back and forth, his knees drawn up to his chest. He has not stopped weeping since he arrived - since he was dragged from his home and brought here. He is cold, and frightened, and he cannot stop the sobs that tear through his form, or the tears that flow down his cheeks. He has brought them to ruin, all. They are in danger, and he is here, and dear God in Heaven, what has he done to so offend? What can he possibly have done to deserve this? He rubs at his wrists -

“Thomas?” James voice, insistent now, breaks in on his reverie - on the horrifying memory that has just flashed through his mind, and he looks up, eyes fixing on James’ face, and the words will not come - will not move past his lips, try though he might, the anger choking him in its intensity. He has been imprisoned all this time. He has sat here, all this time, while others have done this to James. He has stood here, in this wretched place, while someone - a succession of someones - have convinced his lover of that thing which he feared all along - the thing that Thomas had so nearly cured him of when it had all come crashing down around their heads. Thomas has sat here, hopeless and helpless, while a string of heartless cowards have convinced James at last that society has no place for him. That he is unwanted. That no matter what he does, it will never, can never, be enough. He has been here. Trapped.

A prisoner.

The word goes through him again as it has not in years. It has not been important in so long - he has not been able to entertain the notion that any of it was important, without recourse as he has been, but now he can see what his inactivity has wrought in every scrape on James’ head and arms, in every scar that is new under his fingertips, in every time James’ voice catches as he tells him of some new atrocity the likes of which Thomas cannot imagine surviving, and Thomas Hamilton is angry, beyond any fury he has ever known before. It is not the distant, righteous indignation of his drawing room - no. This is visceral, and consuming, and he breathes it in like perfume because to feel again is a wondrous, horrifying, exhilarating thing. This - this feels like being alive again because it is personal. This is about James, and Miranda, and what has been done to them, and the bastards that have thought to harm them while Thomas could not intervene.

He closes his eyes, and then opens them again, looking downward to where James’ hand is resting on his knee. He cannot save Miranda - she is gone beyond his ability to aid, but James is here, and Thomas will be damned if he ever allows anyone to lay a hand on his lover in anger again. He reaches out, taking hold of James’ wrist, and gently, so very gently, slides the sleeve up his lover’s arm to reveal the fading marks that have been left on his wrist by the shackles they had brought him here in. He clenches his teeth, trying and failing to contain the thing that is rapidly clawing its way up his throat, taking hold of him somewhere in the center of his chest and squeezing hard. He traces his fingers over the marks, and the more he does so the more the desperate, howling thing in him wants to break free. This is -

It is not James he is angry at, and he has no wish to frighten him with the depths of his rage. He takes a deep breath, and another, until he can speak again without screaming.

“John Silver.” He says the name deliberately, slowly, his voice lingering over each part of the name. “He sent you here, like this?”

James nods, his eyes seeking the floor, lips pressing together.

“Yes,” he answers, his voice quiet, gruff, his other hand twitching where it sits on his knee, and Thomas closes his eyes again, taking a breath. When he opens them again, there is steel in his gaze.

“If I ever meet him,” he says softly, raising his eyes again to meet James’, “I’m going to make him wish he had never laid eyes on you, let alone had the chance to do this.” His hand strokes over the marks and he raises James’ wrist to his lips, kissing where it has been injured, and James looks up at him, his eyes a study in shock.

“Thomas -” he starts to say, and Thomas simply looks back at him. James opens his mouth as if to speak, and then seems to decide against it, leaning forward, his elbows on his knees, hands taking hold of Thomas’ hand lightly, his fingers brushing over Thomas’ knuckles - his work-roughened knuckles that are bigger than James undoubtedly remembers them from having been broken once or twice. He seems to consider them for a moment - to consider the sort of life they speak of, the things that he does not know about but can guess from Thomas’ hand alone, and then blows out a breath.

“You wouldn’t be able to take him head-on,” he says after a moment. “I taught him nearly everything I know about swordplay.”

Thomas laughs gently.

“You have my thanks for the warning,” he answers, and James grants him a smile that still makes his heart do a flip in his chest, everything in him singing that he gets to see it again. It is still a tentative thing, James’ smile, but the longer he is with Thomas, the more he uses it. Thomas suspects that he has spent the past two days looking positively ridiculous himself, beaming like an idiot at the very sound of James’ voice. He does not care. He feels the edges of his mouth curling upward of their own accord, and the tightness in his chest dissipates, joy taking the edges off of it once again. He can live with this. He can stand it. For James, anything.

“Of course, this all depends on the notion that we can make our way out of here,” James points out after a moment. The words send a thrill down Thomas’ spine. To go - to be free -

It has seemed like an impossible dream, all these years, but nothing is impossible if James is alive and here with him.

“I can’t very well defend your honor if we sit here and never leave,” he agrees, and James reaches forward, grabbing hold of his hand, gripping it with his own, gentle, but firm, the same way they used to in carriages where no one could see them. His green eyes are bright, and fixed on Thomas’ face, the earring glinting in the firelight, his teeth showing as he flashes a smile at Thomas.

“Tell me about the outer defenses,” he says, and Thomas feels himself begin to grin.

“They’re no patch on Windsor Castle, if that’s what you’re asking.”

I overslept.

You know that nice warm fuzzy feeling you get when you wake up, I didn’t experience that today. Instead the me -who was extremely over tired from staying up late watching some melodrama and crying into the abyss- was rudely awoken by my alarm. And you know, alarms just leave you in a mood all day long. I try to get my body into a routine so I don’t need to use an alarm but last night threw me off, I set one in case… turns out I really needed it.

Waking up sets the tone of the whole day so I can tell right away, this one’s gonna be an absolute gem. Not only was today the day of the accounting meeting with Bang Sihyuk, today was the day after my sob session. Time to hold my tired head high and suck back 2 gallons of coffee; a technique for brighter, fresher skin and smaller dark circles… Ahaha.

I love that Liam and Louis appear to have a writing partnership like Elton John and Bernie Taupin. They have the same melody/lyrics approach too. Elton says that Bernie has always sent him lyric sheets which he would then build music around. They've created some of the most memorable pop songs over the past 50 years. We can only hope we've not seen the last of the Louis/Liam partnership and that they too produce some more amazing work together in the future.

OMG yes! Like i love their partnership and that was a great comparison. I think Lilo really worked very well together. They seemed very mature on the songs they wrote together, but also they really complemented each other during the process. Some of my fave 1D songs were writen by them and honestly i hope i get to hear more songs of them together! Like this is a necessity ! The themes were different and even the melodies. They did an amazing work as a team for the boys and i’d even dare say that i’d really like to see them write something together for their solo adventures. Like Louis singing a song co-writen with Liam or the other way around. It would be fun!

But while we are at it and discussing this, I want to rant a bit here so i’m sorry but i also think it helps me complete my answer to you.

I don’t like people belittling Liam! Like i saw some people already saying that “Oh Liam confirmed it was always Louis that wrote the lyrics, i figured”. That wasn’t what he said… He said that he was more of a melodies person and that Louis was more of a lyrics guy. He didn’t say that he never wrote a lyric on their songs. Also that doesn’t mean that Liam didn’t have any influence in lyrics or that Louis didn’t have any influence in the melody of a song. People take things very literally and forget the middle ground and what it is working as a duo on a song. Things aren’t black and white! Sometimes, on a song you have more of an influence in an aspect and then on another song it can go on the contrary way. Both lyrics and melodies are important in a song and they complement each other… Just like Liam and Louis! They are brilliant songwriters and they made the BEST TEAM in my opinion. People should be aware of that and stop with the belittling posts because it isn’t fair to Liam nor Louis. End of rant!

Better Together (SPN Speculation)

This took longer than I anticipated. I’m still not sure if I’ve covered everything I wanted to cover and I had to add some stuff since 12.21, but I’m posting it so it gets posted before the finale. It is a massive info dump, and I’m sorry for all the technical stuff, I promise it gets explained in there. I couldn’t figure out how to truncate it without outlining it like a novel. I wish I had time for that, but I barely have time to outline my specs atm. I lso don’t want to say that everything I say here is absolutely definitive, it’s just based on what I’ve observed and the patterns I’ve noticed. There are a lot of other factors that feed into this one that are also worth exploring but I don’t really know how to include them without over complicating everything, so this is the main set that I’m personally focusing on.

I dunno if anyone remembers this, but back when I metad about 12.12, I said I wished I could have done it in video form because the information better lent itself to a visual medium. Yeah, this is another one of those times. Someday I may modify this into a script and do that, but the season finale is basically today, so here goes.

Some of you may have seen a post go around where @k-vichan, @drsilverfish and @angelswatchingover discuss what Alicia is and the questions surrounding her current state. (I can’t get it to route to one of their blogs, but check them out)

@k-vichan mentioned something that this series has reminded me of since S5, and had themes which have prevailed through the show for a long time.(S7 on, especially.) I went back to watch it after I saw the post, to confirm with myself what I remembered. It had been a long time since I saw the movie, and I wanted to be sure before I wrote about it.

Of all the other works that exist, no other that I know of more closely seems to resemble the themes and message of Supernatural more than the 1995 film Ghost in the Shell.

I have no idea if this is on purpose or if they just both came across the same progression on their own (inspired by the Hegel dialectic) but they both share some common philosophies that have shaped my view of SPN since I’ve watched it, and especially this season. Even without having seen the movie in a long time, these thought processes and progressions seemed to prevail. If there is some real influence between them, what would it mean?

The below place contains spoilers for the ending of Ghost in the Shell, They’re further down though. I’ll mark them. Sadly, they’re kind of important for my speculation, but you can skip them if you want.

But first, let’s talk about (a vastly simplified version of) Hegel (in relation to narrative mostly), theming and message.

i think some people are having a hard time understanding or comphrending your story because they dont understand what its like to suffer so much. being put down and hurt your /whole life/ is a big thing and not just something 'true love' and a change of scenery can fix. it takes incredible amounts of work and sometimes it doesnt even matter. we still end up back at the bottom like we were in the beginning. it always seems a lot simpler than it is.

;______; wow you understand the whole ending theme of my story before I even got it out to you guys lmao. But yeah, it’s not that simple. Santi has tried all the quick fixes. He’s definitely in a mindset now where he thinks a new place will fix him. Love, though…he’s given up on love because he’s afraid of it. (Though of course he’s denying his true feelings.)

I’m writing about mental illness from personal experience, and no, it can’t be fixed like it can in the movies. It never goes away, but you can learn to cope with it. It takes a long time to even just come to terms with it, much less accept it and deal with it safely on a day to day basis. It takes a great level of introspection to fully recover from suffering like that. Thank you for being so in tune with my mind ;-;
