okay I’ll be honest I only started watching yugioh for Marik. I’ve been scouring his wiki page and skimming over fanart for many weeks, and now that i’ve finally gotten my first peek at him in the anime, i had to post a drawing of him, no matter how sketchy
also i drew this while listening to triple baka on repeat which is completely irrelevant but also sort of funny
“It’s early morning one weekend in about 1968, give or take, and my dad’s in the bathroom with the kitchen transistor radio, which is red, a thin vinyl-like covering over a wooden cabinet. When he comes out, with the volume turned right up, he’s excited, and I find out why almost immediately
“Listen to this,” he says, his face lit up. “Isn’t it lovely? I heard it once before, but never knew what it was.”
I listened, and soon realise I’ve never heard anything quite like it. The most joyful, dancy, funny piece of classical music I can imagine. A fast, repeated, descending figure on a major scale, dum diddy dum dum, dum diddy dum dum – just a sunburst of optimism and good humour, and then, pushed notes, syncopations, and an eruption of what sounds pretty close to swing.
“What an amazing piece,” says my dad and, for that moment, or pretty much any moment since, I don’t think we could possibly have been more closely in agreement.
I was in my early teens and we were in my parents’ bedroom, a year before my parents split up. Looking back, it really was a great moment to have shared. Our enthusiasms coincided, so when Dad bought the LP on his way home from work that same week, we were both as pleased as punch.”
I am literally in love with the fact I get to see how my little cousins interact even with a language barrier. On my mom’s side, I have a 3 year old little cousin who only speaks French, and on my dad’s side I have a 2 year old cousin who only speaks Spanish. When they play together it is so funny to see them blabber on and on to each other until one of them hears a word that sounds familiar and then they just repeat that word and nod like they’re totally connecting. Like today the one that speaks Spanish said “Venga a poner los pantalones en la muneca!” and the other heard “pantalones” and was just like “Oui, pantalon!” They’re best friends and it’s the cutest and funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
Is funny how history repeats itself, we are in the exact same position we were during Generation 5.
We were expecting a new game (Since CoroCoro hinted some big news for their next issue, this time is a Pokémon Direct) and the fandom was divided. Some wanted the Hoenn remakes because we got a lot of reference to Hoenn in Black and White plus some Hoenn focus merchandise (This is when #Hoennconfirmed was born kids). Others wanted a third version that was rumor and even trademark back then “Pokémon Gray”, Just like Pokémon Stars today.
Not to mention that some wanted the new games to be in the newest console that was the Nintendo 3ds and not in the Nintendo DS. Which is also a topic of discussion in the fandom with some want the new games to be on the Nintendo 3DS while others want them in the Nintendo Switch.
The way kids talk to each other tends to give me a pretty good idea of how the adults in their lives talk to them.
Sometimes this is really sad. Like I’ve seen kids parroting overly-critical and harsh language that they definitely didn’t learn on their own and I want to go over and be like “kiddo, that’s inappropriate no matter how old you are. You shouldn’t be talked to like that.”
Sometimes it’s just bizarre. I’ve heard a few kids who either watch the Simpsons or their parents literally talk like Ned Flanders.
Sometimes it’s really sweet and encouraging, like the little boy who’s friend built a block tower and he squealed, “You did it! Good for you, I’m so proud of you!”
Sometimes though, sometimes it’s hilarious.
One time I was babysitting a seven year old and his three year old twin siblings. I was helping the girl twin dress her doll when I noticed the boy twin making a mess. The older brother looks at him, sighs, and goes:
“Buddy. Buddy just…buddy don’t do that. Look, see? You’re making a mess, you’re just gonna…buddy, that’s not gonna work, it’s….*sigh* well, alright then.”
I remember when I first got on the internet I saw a lot of jokes about video games I didn’t play, yet I spouted shit like “haha the cake is a lie!” before I played portal cuz I was a dumb kid who wanted to be funny but didn’t understand comedy so I’d just repeat what people said to me. anyways I’m imagining kids nowadays are going around spouting “Todd stop releasing skyrim!” w/o knowing who Todd is or why he’s letting skyrim go
Hey, guys, since I just made the second last exam of the semester, I decided to create a post where I will explain a bit how I get prepare for an exam, specifically for the oral tests. So…let’s start:
★ 1. Planning materials and hours of study.
The first thing I do when I have to prepare myself for an exam is get hold of the program of study and then calculate the time that could potentially use to study everything and repeat. So in this case I recommend that you do not arrive at the last second, but start as soon as possible to collect the study material. I personally started studying at least one month before the exam takes place, if we speak of course of oral exam. For already written it is different, because I, personally, can pass a test written just reading many times the topics to bring . But then again, it depends from person to person, so … take your agenda or your calendar and start to establish which days or hours where you can devote yourself to the study, and once established it tries to respect your program , but rest assured, it’s not a problem if sometimes jump!
★ 2. Organize your notes.
Another important thing to do before you really start to study is to place the notes taken during the lessons. You can fix them or from time to time, or all at once when you have finished all the lessons. The right thing to do would be the first, but I do not always succeed, especially because often my university classes end up about six o'clock in the evening, so I get home not before seven.
★ 3. Read your textbook and highlights the most important things, helping with the notes, then unite it all.
Here I don’t think there needs to be an explanation, usually I’m used to help me with the notes I previously organized, so that I both easier to read and understand what are the most important things to learn. Usually I join the notes taken in class with the textbook doing a summary or by writing in pencil on the book, it depends on the amount of notes. I also use a lot of highlighters of different colors to highlight, of course, each of them has different meanings depending on use and color.
★ 4. Repeat aloud.
Regarding this point i don’t think there is much to say; usually I repeat aloud to better fix things and above all helps me a lot to prepare for the oral.
★ 5. Review.
Regarding the revision I’m used to repeat aloud, but above all to do mind maps or summary, however, I recommend these methods especially for written exams.
TIPS TO OVERCOME ANXIETY PRE-EXAM
Another thing I wanted to deal with is the question of anxiety, I suffer and I wanted to tell you a bit ‘my tricks to “overcome”.
★ 1. Estrange the mind.
The first thing I can tell you to do before you do anything else is to alienate the mind. In moments of leisure, stay away from the study, thinks of nothing else, watch a movie or a funny television series, go out with friends, read a book or whatever makes you relax. This will help you above all not to go under stress, and it is important for your mental health.
★ 2. Don’t drink coffe.
Before an exam is important not to drink coffee, or who does not drink too much, at least for me. The coffee, in fact, even if it has the property to raise the level of concentration, can also, if taken in excessive doses bring a widespread state of anxiety as well as insomnia. This could result in a bad performance on the exam day (what we do not).A good substitute is the green or black tea.
★ 3. Chamomile or Calming herbal teas.
This more than advice is my pre-exam ritual. In fact, usually, when I am particularly anxious or scared for an exam, I like to drink a chamomile or calming herbal tea, or a simple red fruit tea. Help to calm down and let me rest.
★ 4. Inhale and Exhale.
Another tip is to breathe. It happened to me sometimes to have some mild panic attacks before an exam, so before you take medication, you should simply exhale and inhale slowly filling and emptying the stomach, this way your mind will become calm.
★ 5. Believe in yourself.
Last but not least, believe in yourself. You are your only limit, and only you can overcome them. Only you know what you did and what you’re worth, so do not make you throw down, life is a great challenge!
if there were ever to be a homestuck movie, i would hope to god that the go-to, repeated-far-too-often, trailer joke would be john, standing in the bathtub in the stairway, staring balefully at his cell. “rose, you can see me right. tell me. whats wrong with this picture.” preferably being cut to after a shit-ton of action scenes.
listen as someone on the autistic spectrum, I can’t express how happy I am with Billy Cranston as a character.
A lot of the representation of autism/Aspergers I’ve seen in the media has been people who are typically cold/casually insult people/being pushed away or looked down on/overall just pretty negative.
But Billy Cranston..he is a beautiful soul. The biggest stereotype of people on the autistic spectrum is that we “don’t have feelings” or are “really apathetic”. Yeah a lot of us have difficulty understanding other people but that’s because our brains just function differently like a lot of us really do try to understand others because we want people to understand us! And when we see characters that have autistic traits (a lot of the time we don’t get characters that are canonically autistic so we have to look for our representation through characters with traits) being rude and deliberately dismissive of other people’s feelings (a certain detective and a scientist from two highly overrated shows come to mind😒) it’s really harmful to us and supports those stereotypes.
Billy Cranston is not dismissive and rude. He is full of love for his friends. He tries to understand the people around him, probably because a lot of people in a small town don’t try to understand him.
Yes his “quirks” are played for laughs a lot but it’s in no way offensive and is genuinely funny (I mean to me anyway, there were a lot of things he does in the film that I’m guilty of, like not understanding social queues and keep talking and not realising I’m repeating things).
And finally Power Rangers does something with Billy Cranston and his autism that a lot of movies/TV shows don’t do with their autistic characters (if there are any) and that is unapologetically celebrate him. To me, Billy was the heart and soul of the movie.
So can we please have more autistic characters that aren’t rude white man-children who’s disabilities are played for laughs, thanks.
“You might want money. Maybe you want women. Or, you might want to protect the world. These are all common things people want. Things that their hearts desire. Greed may not be good, but it’s not so bad, either. You humans think greed is just for money and power! But everyone wants something they don’t have.”
Request: If requests are open, can you write a fic where Lin gets too used to stealing y/n’s chapstick and then he accidentally uses it when it happens to have a color tint to it. I’m sorry if that was confusing! But I hope that made sense and that your day goes wonderfully!
Word Count: 1585ish
Author’s Note: Sorry this request took so long! I hope whoever the anon was who submitted it enjoys it! Thanks to @secretschuylersister, she’s the best and helped me a lot with this one. #bestofwivesandbestofwomen Also, this video is important. And as always, let me know if you see any mistakes.
