i really want to see this film

2

Yesterday was an amazing day. Got to see Wildlife, which I have been not-so-patiently waiting for since the film was announced, and got to actually be in the presence of my favorite actor. He was soft-spoken, slow-moving, shockingly clean shaven, and really, really sweet.

Harvey Weinsten sexually Harassed Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita: “I have been following the news and reading the accounts of women coming forward to talk about being assaulted by Harvey Weinstein and others. I had shelved my experience with Harvey far in the recesses of my mind, joining in the conspiracy of silence that has allowed this predator to prowl for so many years. I had felt very much alone when these things happened, and I had blamed myself for a lot of it, quite like many of the other women who have shared their stories.

But now that this is being discussed openly, I have not been able to avoid the memories resurfacing. I have felt sick in the pit of my stomach. I have felt such a flare of rage that the experience I recount below was not a unique incident with me, but rather part of a sinister pattern of behavior.

I met Harvey Weinstein in 2011 at an awards ceremony in Berlin, while I was still a student at the Yale School of Drama. An intermediary introduced him to me as “the most powerful producer in Hollywood.” As an aspiring actress, I was of course eager to meet people in the industry but cautious about strangers, and the intentions of men in general. So I tried to vet this famous producer by asking my dinner-table companions what they knew of him. A woman who was a producer herself cautiously advised me to “keep Harvey in your corner.” She said: “He is a good man to know in the business, but just be careful around him. He can be a bully.” And so I exchanged contacts with him in the hopes that I would be of consideration for one of his projects. I wanted to keep things professional, so I made a point of referring to him as “Mr. Weinstein.” But he insisted that I call him by his first name. In this first encounter, I found him to be very direct and authoritative, but also charming. He didn’t quite put me at ease, but he didn’t alarm me, either.

Not long after we met in Berlin, Harvey wrote to me inviting me to attend a screening of a film — a competitor’s film similar to one he had produced. He said we would be watching it with his family at his home in Westport, Conn., which was not far away from New Haven, where I was living at the time. He would send a car to pick me up. I accepted the invitation.

The driver and I met Harvey in the little town of Westport, where he informed me that we would be having lunch at a restaurant before getting to his home. I did not think much of this. It was a busy restaurant, and as soon as we sat down he ordered a vodka and diet soda for himself. I asked for a juice. Harvey was unimpressed with my choice and told the waiter to bring me a vodka and diet soda instead. I declined and said I wanted the juice. We went back and forth until finally he turned to the waiter and said, “Get her what I tell you to get her. I’m the one paying the bill.” I smiled and remained silent. The waiter left and returned with a vodka and diet soda for me. He placed it on the table beside my water. I drank the water. Harvey told me that I needed to drink the vodka and diet soda. I informed him that I would not.

“Why not?” I remember him asking. “Because I don’t like vodka, and I don’t like diet soda, and I don’t like them together,” I said. “You are going to drink that,” he insisted. I smiled again and said that I wouldn’t. He gave up and called me stubborn. I said, “I know.” And the meal proceeded without much further ado. In this second encounter with Harvey, I found him to be pushy and idiosyncratic more than anything.

We got to his home after lunch and I met his domestic staff and his young children. He took me on a brief tour of the house before he rounded us all up in the screening room to watch the film. He had just produced a similar film of his own, but everyone was raving about this rival version.

I settled in for the film, but about 15 minutes in, Harvey came for me, saying he wanted to show me something. I protested that I wanted to finish the film first, but he insisted I go with him, laying down the law as though I too was one of his children. I did not want another back-and-forth in front of his kids, so I complied and left the room with him. I explained that I really wanted to see the film. He said we’d go back shortly.

Harvey led me into a bedroom — his bedroom — and announced that he wanted to give me a massage. I thought he was joking at first. He was not. For the first time since I met him, I felt unsafe. I panicked a little and thought quickly to offer to give him one instead: It would allow me to be in control physically, to know exactly where his hands were at all times.

Part of our drama school curriculum at Yale included body work, using massage techniques on one another to understand the connection between body, mind and emotion, and so I felt I could rationalize giving him one and keep a semblance of professionalism in spite of the bizarre circumstance. He agreed to this and lay on the bed. I began to massage his back to buy myself time to figure out how to extricate myself from this undesirable situation. Before long he said he wanted to take off his pants. I told him not to do that and informed him that it would make me extremely uncomfortable. He got up anyway to do so and I headed for the door, saying that I was not at all comfortable with that. “If we’re not going to watch the film, I really should head back to school,” I said.

I opened the door and stood by the frame. He put his shirt on and again mentioned how stubborn I was. I agreed with an easy laugh, trying to get myself out of the situation safely. I was after all on his premises, and the members of his household, the potential witnesses, were all (strategically, it seems to me now) in a soundproof room.

Earlier Harvey had sent the driver to the store to buy a boxed collection of “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency,” an HBO show that he had produced. This was the project he thought I would be right for, he said. (I later found out that the show had not been on the air for some time.) As I prepared to leave his home, he presented it to me. He wanted me to check it out and let him know what I thought. He would be in touch about it. I left for New Haven with his driver.

I didn’t quite know how to process the massage incident. I reasoned that it had been inappropriate and uncalled-for, but not overtly sexual. I was entering into a business where the intimate is often professional and so the lines are blurred. I was in an educational program where I was giving massages to my classmates and colleagues every day. Though the incident with Harvey had made me uncomfortable, I was able to explain and justify it to myself, and shelve it as an awkward moment. His offer to me to be a part of the HBO show was a very attractive one and I was excited about it, especially as I would be graduating in another year. I didn’t know how to proceed without jeopardizing my future. But I knew I would not be accepting any more visits to private spaces with Harvey Weinstein.

I decided to invite Harvey to come to a production I was in at school. Perhaps that way he would really see what I had to offer, and he would see my colleagues, too. He accepted the invitation, but the night of the production, he sent a message saying he had been caught up in New York and would be unable to attend. He would make it up to me. So when I received an official invitation to a staged reading of his new Broadway show, “Finding Neverland,” I was not surprised. I was still debating whether I should accept his invitation, and so I responded saying I was not certain that I could make it because of my school schedule. He responded with exactly the words I needed to hear: Come with whomever you want to come with. And so I invited two of my trusted male friends.

We attended the reading, and afterward Harvey invited us all to a restaurant for dinner with his comrades and collaborators. He sat me next to him, and another actress sat across from me. He had my friends sit at a different table. The talk was shop the whole time and Harvey held court with ease. He was charming and funny once more, and I felt confused about the discomfort I had previously experienced. I looked at the actress who I was informed had just worked with him on a project, searching her face for any sort of indication that she too had been made to feel uncomfortable by this powerful man, but of course I saw nothing. We did not stay very long because we had to catch a train back to New Haven. My friends had been equally charmed by Harvey. He knew when to turn it on if he wanted something. He was definitely a bully, but he could be really charming, which was disarming and confusing. I left feeling that perhaps he had learned my boundaries and was going to respect them.

A couple of months later, I received an email from Harvey, inviting me again to New York for a screening of “W.E.” After the screening, we would have drinks in TriBeCa. I then received a phone call from one of his male assistants to arrange my transportation. Feeling more confident about the new sense of boundaries that we had established in our last meeting, I attended the screening on my own this time. Afterward, as planned, his male assistant arranged for me to get to the Tribeca Grill, where Harvey would be joining us. I met a female assistant when I arrived there. I was expecting that it would be a group of us, as it had been for the reading, but she informed me it would just be Mr. Weinstein. She would sit with me until he arrived. She seemed on edge, but I could only imagine how stressful it was to work for a man who had so much going on.

Harvey arrived and the assistant immediately disappeared. We ordered drinks and starters. Again he was offended by my nonalcoholic beverage choice but he didn’t fight me on it as hard. Before the starters arrived, he announced: “Let’s cut to the chase. I have a private room upstairs where we can have the rest of our meal.” I was stunned. I told him I preferred to eat in the restaurant. He told me not to be so naïve. If I wanted to be an actress, then I had to be willing to do this sort of thing. He said he had dated Famous Actress X and Y and look where that had gotten them.

I was silent for a while before I mustered up the courage to politely decline his offer. “You have no idea what you are passing up,” he said. “With all due respect, I would not be able to sleep at night if I did what you are asking, so I must pass,” I replied.

His whole demeanor changed at that point. “Then I guess we are two ships passing in the night.” I had never heard that saying before, so I remember asking him what it meant. “It means just that,” he said. “We are two ships going in two different directions.”

“Yes, I guess we are.”

“So we are done here,” he said. “You can leave.”

We got up, having not eaten anything, and he led me out of the restaurant. My heart was beating very fast. A cab was hailed for me. I said I would take the subway (I could not afford a cab at the time), but he handed me some money and told me not to be silly, take the cab. Before I got in, I needed to make sure that I had not awakened a beast that would go on to ruin my name and destroy my chances in the business even before I got there.

“I just want to know that we are good,” I said.

“I don’t know about your career, but you’ll be fine,” he said. It felt like both a threat and a reassurance at the same time; of what, I couldn’t be sure.

I did not see Harvey again until September 2013 when I was in Toronto for the premiere of “12 Years a Slave,” the first feature film I was in. At an after-party, he found me and evicted whoever was sitting next to me to sit beside me. He said he couldn’t believe how fast I had gotten to where I was, and that he had treated me so badly in the past. He was ashamed of his actions and he promised to respect me moving forward. I said thank you and left it at that. But I made a quiet promise to myself to never ever work with Harvey Weinstein.

Not long after I won the Academy Award in 2014, I received an offer to play a role in one of the Weinstein Company’s forthcoming films. I knew I would not do it simply because it was the Weinstein Company, but I did not feel comfortable telling this to anybody. I turned down the role, but Harvey would not take no for an answer. While at Cannes, he insisted on meeting with me in person. I agreed to do it only because my agent would be present. In the meeting, he was honest about intending to persuade me to do his movie. I told him I simply did not feel it was a role I needed to play. He said he was open to making it bigger, more significant, maybe they could add a love scene. He said if I did this one for him, he would do another one for me — basically guaranteeing backing a star-vehicle film for me. I ran out of ways of politely saying no and so did my agent. I was so exasperated by the end that I just kept quiet. Harvey finally accepted my position and expressed that he still wanted to work with me at some point. “Thank you, I hope so,” I lied.

And that was the last of my personal encounters with Harvey Weinstein. I share all of this now because I know now what I did not know then. I was part of a growing community of women who were secretly dealing with harassment by Harvey Weinstein. But I also did not know that there was a world in which anybody would care about my experience with him. You see, I was entering into a community that Harvey Weinstein had been in, and even shaped, long before I got there. He was one of the first people I met in the industry, and he told me, “This is the way it is.” And wherever I looked, everyone seemed to be bracing themselves and dealing with him, unchallenged. I did not know that things could change. I did not know that anybody wanted things to change. So my survival plan was to avoid Harvey and men like him at all costs, and I did not know that I had allies in this.

Fortunately for me, I have not dealt with any such incidents in the business since. And I think it is because all the projects I have been a part of have had women in positions of power, along with men who are feminists in their own right who have not abused their power. What I am most interested in now is combating the shame we go through that keeps us isolated and allows for harm to continue to be done. I wish I had known that there were women in the business I could have talked to. I wish I had known that there were ears to hear me. That justice could be served. There is clearly power in numbers. I thank the women who have spoken up and given me the strength to revisit this unfortunate moment in my past.

Our business is complicated because intimacy is part and parcel of our profession; as actors we are paid to do very intimate things in public. That’s why someone can have the audacity to invite you to their home or hotel and you show up. Precisely because of this we must stay vigilant and ensure that the professional intimacy is not abused. I hope we are in a pivotal moment where a sisterhood — and brotherhood of allies — is being formed in our industry. I hope we can form a community where a woman can speak up about abuse and not suffer another abuse by not being believed and instead being ridiculed. That’s why we don’t speak up — for fear of suffering twice, and for fear of being labeled and characterized by our moment of powerlessness. Though we may have endured powerlessness at the hands of Harvey Weinstein, by speaking up, speaking out and speaking together, we regain that power. And we hopefully ensure that this kind of rampant predatory behavior as an accepted feature of our industry dies here and now.

Now that we are speaking, let us never shut up about this kind of thing. I speak up to make certain that this is not the kind of misconduct that deserves a second chance. I speak up to contribute to the end of the conspiracy of silence.”

I’m so happy Lupita shared her story and I have so much more respect for her and commend her for sticking by her morals. It’s disgusting that Harvey would even try something with her while his kids were in the other room, what a sick bastard

I’m seeing comments and posts about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man being too weak and unreliable, but that’s the whole point of Homecoming? Peter is new to the whole superhero business but y’all expect this fifteen year old to be a full fledged Avenger in his first movie? I loved seeing him run into fences, watching him make a fool of himself, and crying for help because he’s a dumb kid and that’s what they do. They are naive and immature and they make stupid mistakes. He’s still learning and we really get to see how vulnerable and weak this Spidey is. Spider-Man: Homecoming isn’t as epic and heroic as the previous Spidey films but that’s why it works so well. We get to really see a grounded and unskilled Peter Parker grow and I’m so excited to see him become the greatest hero in the MCU.

My grandmother got very very sick when I was making the record, which is what Supermarket Flowers is about if anyone’s heard that song. And my brother is a classical film composer, so he makes classical music. I make pop music. And we don’t really, like… he’s my brother, and I love him, but we don’t - I don’t understand classical music and he doesn’t really understand pop music. So we don’t have, like… When we meet up, we just talk about like Family Guy and Rick and Morty and stuff like that, and it’s not really, like that’s kind of it. But she said, she said, before she died she wanted to see her two – she’s only got two grandsons; it’s only me and my brother – she said before she died she wanted to see her two grandsons work together. And I said, ‘Well Matt, I’ve got–’ Matt’s my brother, and I said, 'Matt, I’ve got this song that I think an orchestra could be great.’ And he orchestrated a 60-piece orchestra for this song, Perfect, and we recorded a 60-piece orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. And managed to get it done before our grandmother passed away. And it was one of those moments where we sort of brought a laptop into the hospital room and played her it, and we were both kinda like, YEAH, we did it! It was just a really really special moment and to be able to have that now, being played on radio, and having the whole world hear something that me and my brother made, is like, is really cool. So I would like to sing this tonight. I would like to dedicate it to every single person in the crowd that has lost a loved one, has found a loved one, anyone that is in love, feels love, this is all for you.

Wow

So yea i really like the short film In A Heartbeat! I’ve been doodling these two all night! I went to sleep at 06:00 but woke up at 09:20 to feed my doggos and let them get fresh air, and then after that, my doggos and I fell asleep again and woke up at 15:00.

Well that’s not important! What’s important or these cute kids! (and cute heart!) I want to draw more of these two but I also want to watch a movie too because i’m so tired. So i choose movie!

One last thing! Excuse my handwriting if you can’t see what it says!

Thank you Beth David and Esteban Bravo for making such a nice film!  @inaheartbeat-film

Imagine Bill letting it slip that you are dating during an interview.

Bill himself chuckled as he took in the sight of you looking stunning as ever in your red dress, standing on your tiptoes even if you were wearing high heels to kiss his cheek; one hand on his chest and the other on your shoulder as he had an arm wrapped around your waist and the other cupping your cheek.

He didn’t even know how they had managed to snap that photo because it wasn’t exactly in front of the cameras. You had mostly been standing on the side with his brothers, and great friends of yours, and he had rushed to you to get that good luck kiss. He didn’t expect there to be evidence of that so he was glad he’d kept himself from kissing you properly on the lips.

“(Y/n) and you.” he completed with a smile, glancing for a moment at the enthusiastic audience “You two-” he turned back to the actor “You two are great friends right? I’m- I’m just asking because that could, you know, be misinterpreted by some.” he motioned to the photo, giving a look at the audience and everybody laughed at that.

I’m currently in the process of moving (probably will post on that another time once I settle down,) but just really wanted to get this out. Ricklantis Mixup was amazing, guys. This was awesome. Just the storytelling aspect of it was so strong and this was super serious and dark throughout. I was planning on doodling a few jokes but that didn’t work out. The newbie Cop Rick and Campaign Manager Morty are some new favorites and I kinda hoped they would meet, but guess that didn’t work out. The storyline was awesome though so no complaints.

Just a personal note, this episode gave me chills from how it really echoed what happened last year. Through personal experience working on student projects and stuff, film/tv productions don’t get made in a week, it’s usually years of planning and drawing and stuff and it gave me goosebumps to see how the episode began to sound like what had happened last year. Man, I really don’t want to get super political on this so I’ll leave it at that but it always blows my mind to see films and shows that have been in the works for years to be culturally relevant when they come out.

And SO MANY CALLBACKS!!!!! SIMPLE RICK!!! LITTLE BETH!!! EEEEEEEEEVILLLLL MORTYYYYYYYYY!!!!! Wondering if my guess post of Evil Morty collecting and army of Morty’s still stands. Maybe it might be an army of Ricks. Who knows.

I also want to say, I find the SP Ricks and the Guard Mortys pretty adorable.

On Oak’s Forced Leave

Hi friends. I know we’re all super pissed about Oak being asked to leave Great Comet to make room for Mandy Patinkin (I am too. Like I was looking forward to seeing him for months, and now I can’t) but I’m seeing a lot of posts on here that include some info that is just wrong, and wanted to clarify them. So here.

1.) Oak being dismissed had nothing to do with race. Let me explain, because I know that it 100% looks like it does, but it really doesn’t. Oak, while having a lot of fans in the Broadway community, is a total unknown outside of it. Mandy Patinkin is famous in film, television, and theatre (I mean, he was Inigo Montoya). While they are replacing a black actor with a white actor, that’s immaterial. What they’re really doing is replacing someone who won’t sell tickets (at least, extra tickets) with a celebrity who will (at premium prices). Is that better? Not really. But it’s an important distinction that a lot of people haven’t been making.

2.) He did not have “a week and a half” to sell tickets. I keep seeing this point, and it’s confused me greatly. Oak has been announced to take over Pierre since February. That was about five months ago. Any pre-sale that was going to happen would’ve already happened by now, and obviously same day sales weren’t good. They were expecting Oak to be a draw, but he wasn’t. Not Oak’s fault, but it’s just a fact.

3.) They’re not blaming Oak for not selling tickets. A continuation of the second point, no one is putting the success of the show on Oak’s shoulders (if anything, they’re putting it on Ingrid’s). However, they found someone who could make the show more successful, and he happens to be taking over Oak’s role. This does not mean that Oak was unsatisfactory in any way, shape, or form, and no one is trying to imply that.

4.) This is not the first time Great Comet has done this. Brittain Ashford was asked to go on vacation to make room for Ingrid Michaelson, for the exact same reason that Oak is ending his run early, and no one batted an eyelash. The only difference is that Brittain is coming back when Ingrid leaves, while most people in the business are pretty sure they have another celebrity lined up for Pierre, hence Mandy only performing for three weeks.

5.) He’s still getting paid. Just like Brittain, Oak is going to be fully compensated for the time he’s off. That doesn’t make things better, but please don’t think they’re just throwing him out on the street or something.

6.) What About Denée, Amber, Nick, Blaine, Azudi, Shoba, Paul, Summaya, Lulu, Andrew, Brandt, and Heath? If you’re wondering who those people are, they’re the other PoC in the cast of Great Comet, which has won multiple awards for its commitment to diversity this season. To further break those numbers down: four of them (Denée, Amber, Nick, and Paul) are in lead/supporting roles (out of a total of ten), one of which, Natasha, is the absolute archetype of “white Russian princess.” Not to mention that one of Natasha’s understudies, Shoba Narayan, is literally the only actress of Indian descent (that I know of) on Broadway right now. The Comet team has gone to great lengths to make their show as diverse as possible (they literally have their swings learn both “male” and “female” roles, and you can see same-sex couples at multiple points during the show, and it has a largely female creative team), and frankly it’s a little bit insulting to see people acting like Great Comet only casts PoC “when it’s convenient for them.”

7.) It was not Dave Malloy, Mandy Patinkin, or Rachel Chavkin’s fault this happened. I’ve seen people attacking Dave and Rachel for allowing Oak to be replaced, and Mandy himself for replacing him. Not okay. If you want to blame anyone, blame the producers. Dave and Rachel have literally no say beyond: “Yeah. We’d love Mandy to be in it. Not sure when, though.” and Mandy just gave them the times he was free between shooting the next season of Homeland, and it happened to be the last three weeks of Oak’s run.

8.) This is all about making money. Broadway shows aren’t cheap to run in general, but a show like Comet is an absolute beast. 30+ cast members, a huge band, a giant crew, etc. Their weekly running costs are probably somewhere in the range of 700k-800k a week. Since Josh left, they’ve been making ~900k a week, which is fine, if they want to be in debt for the next ten years. Comet had a huge amount of money put into it, and the people running it are definitely feeling pressure from investors to pay it back. This means they have to stick a celeb in every once in a while.

9.) I still don’t think it’s okay. This all being said, I think it was an absolutely shitty move on the producers’ part (they could’ve handled it a lot better) and am livid. (Though, I do have to admit I love Mandy Patinkin. I just wish he came at a different time.)  But while I’m angry, I think it’s important not to make this into something it’s not.

Okay. That’s all.

Rey woke with a scream on her lips. Two weeks had passed since her fight with Snoke and the Elite Praetorian Guard, but her mind lingered on the battlefield. She took a deep breath and wiped sweat from her brow.

“Bad dream?” Kylo Ren asked.

She sat bolt upright. “Why are you here?”

“I don’t know.” He was perched on a chair many light-years away, but he looked like he was close enough to touch. His scent, a heady mix of leather and amber, hung heavy in the air. “I can no more control our Force bond than you can.”

Candlelight danced around her room in the new rebel base. Her breath hitched in her throat. “Can you see my surroundings?”

“No. Still only you.”

“Good.” She relaxed the tension in her shoulders, but her forehead creased into a frown. “Snoke’s dead. I thought our bond would have died with him. He was the one who linked our minds. Shouldn’t they have unlinked?”

He shrugged. “You didn’t answer my question. What other monster visited you tonight?”

“Go away.”

“I can’t.”

She sighed. “I know.”

“Tell me.” He leaned toward her, but kept his feet planted on the ground. “What terror haunts your dreams?”

“You.” She rubbed her temples. “We’re back in Snoke’s throne room, but you don’t refuse his command. You plunge your lightsaber through my chest without hesitation.”

His eyes narrowed. “It’s not a nightmare; it’s a premonition. When I faced Skywalker on Crait … I told him I would destroy you. I intend on keeping my word.”

“You’ll do no such thing.”

“I offered you a place by my side. You refused me. You failed to see the world we could have created together.” A sneer distorted his features. “You’re nothing to me now. I’ll crush you.”

“I don’t believe you.”

He shook his head. “You still think you can turn me to the light? After all the terrible things I’ve done?”

“I know I can. You’re the one who showed me it’s possible.” She threw her blankets aside and moved to the edge of her bed. Her bare feet brushed against the concrete floor. “When we fought together in the throne room … I’ve never felt so close to anyone in my entire life. I could sense your every movement. I could read your mind. I could see the light you’re so desperate to hide.” Her voice wavered. “There is no deed terrible enough to extinguish a soul.”

“You’re wrong.”

“Even Anakin Skywalker came back from the darkness.” A single tear rolled down her cheek. “The blood of a monster redeemed runs through your veins. I’m sure you’ll do as he did. You’ll turn.”

He flew to his feet. “Snoke was right. You’re just a foolish girl.”

“Call me what you want.” She clenched her fists. Her fingertips still burned with the memory of his touch. “I’ll fight for you until the end.”

“You …” His voice cracked. “Why?”

“Because no one else will.”

I went to see The Last Jedi again and it was just as glorious as I remembered. I can’t help but wonder how the relationship between Kylo Ren and Rey will develop in the third film. This scene is just an imagining of what their next encounter might look like - I’m really hoping Rey hasn’t given up on Ben Solo just yet. I think he can be turned.

Jimin and Jungkook on their own and together and the 3As

This is continuation of my thoughts on this post (Part 2): https://denivned.tumblr.com/post/168151815086/about-ships-gcf-jungkook-and-jimin-and-ship

Disclaimer: These are my own thoughts. I am not attacking any ship in any way. So If you support another ship and happen to see this post please know that I respect everyone’s opinion and I would always fight for the right it to be voiced, even if I don’t share it. I simply want to talk about some things I have been contemplating (and hear different points of view on them as well). Feel free to ignore any part you don’t agree with and let’s be gentle and civil with each other!

About Jimin: one look at my blog and you would know he is my bias. He has been ever since I saw him in BS&T and he snatched me by the hair into his lane. Since then I’ve been a loyal stan (mostly, Disrespect-Kook almost wrecked me with his body rolls at Mic Drop Dance break MAMA2017). All the Bangtan boys are wonderful and deserve all the love in the world, but to me JM is just special. Maybe it’s his precious smile, his dual personality, his sweet and caring nature; maybe I connect with his journey of self-acceptance and love. I don’t fully know myself .

Anyhow, I know we all love the boys but it is important to remember that we don’t actually really fully know them! Something that should definitely be kept in mind when talking about things like sexuality and what not. Basically this is just a harmless analysis, no need to get too serious about it!

Now onto the analysis itself:

You hummed as you wrote on the computer trying to figure out what to write for your new book. You at the moment we’re having the worst kind of thing an author can go through—writers block. You had tried to start a new book but it just ended up falling apart before it could even take off.

Even the best authors such as Stephen King and J.K Rowling had writers block. According to most you were considered one of those truly best selling authors but you didn’t really think of yourself as one of the best even though that was how you met your boyfriend the Bill Skarsgård.

He was one of your biggest fans and you were of him and then one day during a book signing you met and it was pretty much love at first sight. You looked up from your computer at the tv show currently playing on the TV, Supernatural. You were on the episode with Sam and the clown.

Your heart raced incredibly fast when you saw the clown and had to look back down at the computer to avoid watching. You were terrified, TERRIFIED of clowns. When you were little your older brother and his friends thought it would be a good idea to fill the cellar full of antique life size clown dolls both made for Halloween (aka motion activated) and just for decoration.

And no, they didn’t just leave you in there for a few minutes and then just let you out they left you in there all night. You had to go to therapy for 2 years just to get over not suddenly shrieking at the top of your lungs for several minutes when you saw a clown on the tv.

Even if it was a fun colorful clown with painted dimples and mouth you still had a bad breakdown. You continued to stare at your screen and try to figure out how to even start the story.

Once upon a time?

Once upon a dream? (Reference!)

So a man walks into a bar…?

You groaned and slumped down tapping your bottom lip in thought. Several minutes had passed and you still didn’t write anything down. Your prayers were sort of answered when Bill came in.

“Hey!” He called from across the condo.

“Hey honey! How was your day?” You called.

“Amazing. You won’t believe what role I got.” He replied walking into the living room.

“Ooh is it popular?” You asked picking up your mug of coffee.

“Yeah you know that movie IT? I’m playing Pennywise.”

You instantly choked on your drink coughing and hacking and placing the mug back on the coffee table to avoid dropping or spilling it. Bill rushed over gently patting your back as you wheezed and felt the rest of the coffee go down.

“What’s wrong babe?” He asked.

“You…Pennywise…”

Bill remembered your extreme clown fear and frowned, “I know your afraid of clowns so that’s why I came to you before I could accept.”

“Uh…yeah, I’m perfectly fine about it. Just don’t think about coming home dressed as a clown unless you want me to beat you to death with a bat.” You warned.

He smiled and kissed your head before saying, “Thanks baby. I love you.”

“Love you too.” You sighed.

He walked off and you continued to stare at the blinking cursor.

So far the IT remake had been in production for a month now and Bill was doing a pretty good job making sure to not act like Pennywise when he arrives home. The first time he did slip up was with his creepy laugh.

You both were putting the dishes away and talking when he did the Pennywise laugh and your glass slipped and shattered onto the counter. Bill snapped his head towards you and saw you were staring at him wide eyed and paralyzed like there was a clown right behind him.

“Sorry I…”

“No, no it’s fine. I’m fine.” You said before walking off to get the duster.
L
Ever since then he’s been extra careful not to act or talk like his character.

3 months into production he had finally been able to meet the Losers kids. He talked to them when he was out of costume and when he mentioned you all their eyes lit up in a split second.

“Your dating (Name) (Last Name)???” Jaeden (aka Bill) asked.

“Yeah you know her?” Bill said.

“I love her book Deathly Dreams.” Sophia (Beverly) said her eyes twinkling. All their eyes were as they shared what books they loved the most.

“Can you please bring her down here? My life would be complete if I got her autograph and got to talk to her.” Wyatt (Stan) pleaded.

“Pleeeaaase?” All the Losers nearly begged making puppy eyes.

Bill laughed knowing he was out matched against the seven kids (both in and out of character) and calmly said, “Alright, alright. I’ll try to get her down here.”

They cheered and Bill frowned hoping you’d be up for it. Maybe if he just tried to avoid you in costume like he did with the kids you’d be fine.

Right?

Later that night he bit his lip as he came home to find you were sitting in front of your computer typing your book.

“Hey sweetie.” He greeted kissing your head.

“Hey honey.” You replied picking your head up for a lip kiss instead.

He eagerly did and sat down next to you gently rubbing your shoulders making you look at him concerned.

“What?” Bill asked.

“Are you okay?” You asked.

“No your just looking tense.” He replied.

“Well how did filming go today?” You asked turning your head to continue to type.

“Good. I uh…talked to the kids…and they’re actually big fans of you.”

“Really?” You asked snapping your head towards him.

“Yeah. They were fangirling over you.”

“Awww that’s so sweet.” You giggled.

“Well…um…they also wanted to see you.”

Your smile faded slowly realizing why he was doing that. He wanted you to come onto the set to see the kids but…he would be in his character and…oh no.

“I mean you don’t have to we can just-”

“N-No it’s fine, I’ll go. I mean I kind of always wanted to see a movie behind the scenes with my own eyes. Maybe it’ll help me with this stupid book.” You said.

“Really?”

“Totally.”

“You sure?”

“Bill, I’ll be fine.” You assured him.

“Alright.” He sighed.

The next day you went in with him and got to meet the director Andy who was also a big fan of your books. He lead you over to where the children were for makeup and as soon as you walked in they recognized you and nearly tackled you in a hug fangirling.

“Oh my gosh your (Name) (Last Name)!” Jack (Eddie) squealed.

“Yes I am.” You smiled feeling like you were floating in space.

A famous horror movie director and 7 soon-to-be famous kids loved your books?

Who knew?!

You took selfies with them, signed their books, talked to them, until you needed to use the bathroom. Good news was you were in a warehouse so you didn’t have to do your business in the woods or in a porta potty.

Bad news was you were lost trying to find your way back from the bathroom.

You were sure you had gone too far deep into the warehouse and now were wandering around the creepy place looking everywhere. You couldn’t find anyone to ask where you were so you were alone, becoming scared, and confused.

Great.

You sighed as you continued to wander your footsteps echoing. You heard the sound of laughter and shuddered remembering that laugh. A clown’s laugh. It sounded so familiar to the one over a decade and a half ago when you were in the cellar. Your heart was racing as you tried to get away from the source of the laughs.

Fear was overtaking your mind as you hurried to find your way out looking left and right. The echoes only seemed to be getting closer but you couldn’t tell if it was you  or the thing releasing the laughter going closer.

You finally came into a room and your blood ran ice cold and your heart seemed to stop dead. Standing there was a clown. Your brain was so filled with fear that it didn’t recognize that it was Bill.

If anyone saw him really unless they knew they wouldn’t be able to recognize him underneath all the makeup. You surely didn’t. When the clown turned to face you your skin turned paper white and your breath was trapped in your throat.

“(Name)?” Bill said in his real voice.

He started walking towards you and you took several steps back before running.

“(Name)!” Bill called.

He watched as you ran as fast as you could which was faster than him.

“(Name)!” He called.

“Leave me alone!” You screamed.

You ran into a closet and slammed the door shut hyperventilating. You ran your fingers through your hair and curled up in the corner feeling incredibly dizzy and sick.

“(Name)? (Name) please, where are you?” He asked.

You weren’t able to reply back gasping too hard. It hurt to breathe. You heard the knock on the door and you shuddered, “(Name)? You in here?”

“Bill I’m so scared.” You sobbed.

“(Name), it’s just me. Okay. I’m dressed as Pennywise but I’m not going to hurt you. Okay?”

“O-o-okay.”

“Can I come in?” He asked.

“S-Sure.”

“(Name), I need a yes or a no…”

You took a deep breath before firmly replying, “Yes.”

The door opened and you squeaked and curled in on yourself. Despite this Bill walked over to you and knelt down in front of you.

“(Name), please don’t be scared. It’s me Bill.”

You slowly opened your eyes but you could still only see the clown. Your heart was pounding so fast your body had told you to get up and run but Bill was quicker and pulled you to his chest in a hug. You frantically panicked nearly hyperventilating as you tried to get away.

“(Name), it’s just me. It’s just me.” He whispered comfortingly.

He took off his silk glove and reached up to his eye before taking off one of the yellow contact lenses revealing his actual blue-green ones. You gradually relaxed and leaned onto his chest.

Under all that latex and makeup you could still smell his cologne letting you know it was indeed him. You wrapped his arms tightly around him taking slow breaths to calm yourself down.

“You okay now?” He asked after a few minutes.

You nodded and he smiled and nuzzled your forehead since he’d smear his lipstick.

“You actually helped me get over my fear of clowns.” You said softly.

He smiled and leaned down to kiss you. When he pulled away he couldn’t help but smile noticing your lips were tainted a light red. Bill placed his eye contact back on and you shuddered but otherwise didn’t run away.

“I love you.” Pennywise said softly.

“I love you too.” You giggled, “And your little clown nose too.”

“Yeah I brought my girlfriend who is like terrified of clowns to the set to ya know meet the kids and, um, she ended up getting lost and found me when I was deep in character as the clown and…yeah I scared her really badly. I thought she was going to break up with me but she didn’t…. I have the best girlfriend ever…”

Epilogue: I really liked this prompt idea cuz I’m terrified of clowns and like Bill is equal parts sexy and scary. Idk that’s just me. Thanx for reading! :3!

“Y/N, are you ready?” Your manager asked.

“Yes,” You said, getting up and walking over. You went to the car which was waiting for you outside. You climbed in before your manager. You sat down and put in your headphones.

Once you made it to the premiere, you took off your headphones and stuffed them into your bag. You walk out and you smiled as some fans started to scream for you.

You posed for some pictures before an interviewer asked to do a quick interview. You walked over to talk to them.

“Hi,” You smiled.

“Hello. I’m here with the world famous actress, Y/N L/N. Y/N, how are you?” They asked you.

“I’m doing well. How are you?” You asked.

“I’m doing well. How excited are you for this film?” They asked you.

“I’m very excited. I loved the book so I’m excited to see the movie tonight,” You tell them.

“Well, in a couple interviews, others asked Bill Skarsgard, the actor who plays Pennywise, who his favorite actress is and he answered on all of them, the same person. You,” They said.

“Really?” You asked, blushing a little. You watched his show, Hemlock Grove, on Netflix and found him very attractive.

“Yes. Do you have anything to say about that?”

“I find him very attractive. I saw him on his show, Hemlock Grove, and thought that he’s a very talented actor,” You told them.

“Do you plan on meeting him tonight?”

“Hopefully. Fingers crossed,” You tell them.

“Well, we hope you have a great time,” They said.

“Thank you. I hope you have a good time as well.”

You walked inside where you were talking to your manager about some next projects.

“Are you sure you want to take a break from acting?” Your manager asked.

“I’m sure,” You tell her. You needed a break. You wanted to finish your schooling and you wanted to lay low for a while.

“Why quit acting? I’m gonna miss seeing you on screen,” You heard. You turned around to see Bill Skarsgard behind you.

“Hi,” You smiled.

“Hi.”

“You were really great in Hemlock Grove. I’m kinda upset that it ended,” you tell him.

“Yeah. It was fun to film.”

“I’m excited to see your movie,” You tell him.

“Really?”

“Yeah.”

“I’m a big fan by the way,” Bill said.

“Really? I actually was told that you had a celebrity crush on me,” You say.

“Yeah,” He said blushing.

“Well, I actually have a small crush on you as well,” You admitted.

“Do you want to go on a date sometime?” Bill asked.

“I’d love that,” you tell him.

“Great,” Bill smiled.

You smile at him before your manager brings you into the room to sit down for the movie.

I’m the youngest of the cousins in my father’s family in Mexico, so I think I was around 6 or 7 years old when I really wanted to belong to that world [of Star Wars] they were talking about. I guess it was a necessity of belonging. Obviously, I didn’t see it in cinemas, because this was ’84, ’85, but I saw the first film, and I remember it connecting with the beginning of my life as an audience somehow. Star Wars is very important. It was like feeling that I grew up.

She gives you a withering look, before pulling up her sleeve. “It works, every time, guaranteed. Look at mine. Perfectly passive, and it’s gotten me my dream job and boyfriend.”

Your eyes linger over the highly detailed tattoo on her bicep, before looking back up at her. “You sure that this guy won’t use his…tattoo powers to murder me?”

She snorts, leaning against the brick wall. “He’s not allowed to do that, he doesn’t know what he’s casting but they can’t involve death or illness. Well…maybe illness, but there’ll be a good outcome. He sort of has a selection of objects, and you choose them, and they’re meant to influence your tattoo’s meaning. People don’t know what they’re getting, but in the end, it’ll be something that they’ve wanted for a while.”

“Do you know how sketchy that sounds?” You cross your arms, heart running wild with panic and oh shit this is a horrible idea isn’t it-

“Shut up, you’ll be fine,” Nat snatches your hand and marches you towards the door of the building, “you can’t miss your designated appointment, he stores his magic up for each client.”

“So what is he? A wizard? Like, from Harry Potter?” The bell tinkles as you enter the waiting room area. You take a brief look around, taking in the modern interior, with succulents on benches and plant pots dangling from the ceilings. There’s nothing ‘magic’ to this, what with fluffy blankets on the arms of the sofas, and industrial light bulbs casting a glow over the room.

“I’d prefer the word ‘alchemist,’ but you can call me a wizard if you want.” A voice says behind you, and you shriek, whipping around instantly.

Life, Death, The Force, Marriage & soon: Rebirth - TLJ Analysis & Speculation

( the tie in with the prequel & OG Trilogy )

I want to start this post off with saying that this probably has been done/said somewhere, but I’ve went to go see TLJ again and I took notes while in the midst of watching the film. In this post, I will be discussing the aspect of “The Force” in TLJ. Not really symbolism(in subtext) but there’s hints of foreshadowing, and an actual symbolic presence throughout the film itself(no spoilers, you’ll see when I get there) this will also speculate episode 9.

*BTW THIS POST IS LONG AF.* (my app crashed several times when typing)

The scenes that really caught my eye, even in my first showing ever, was when Rey was being given her first lesson. Rey was told to concentrate and reach out with her feelings (in a way to find something in sight). Luke asks her what she sees, feels, etc.

She states, “ Life….death & decay that feeds new life.…warmth…cold……peace…violence.” and he asks her, “ and between it all?”

She responds with, “Balance & energy. A force…..Inside me…that same force.”

There’s multiple points that I want to make about the dialogue in this scene. I payed close attention to the word choice & how rey was describing the force itself. In Star Wars, The Force is some sort of mysterious “magic field” that binds all that is life together(think of a circle of life, it repeats itself). It determines fate, and all of that. The Force in a way, plays the role of God or something along the lines of that. There’s many religious undertones, and I’ll be discussing them in this post.

Life & Death : The foreshadowing of redemption & Decay that feeds new life - Rebirth

• Usually, everything that is living comes to an end. Life is full of opening & closing doors that lead to new adventures. An example of that is in the prequels. We have Anakin opening a new door, Marriage/falling in love & having a child. This resembles “new life”, his marriage & his creation with Padme. But his failure resembles “death & decay”. It results in actual death(Padme) and the decay(him being with the dark side) as a Jedi and overall, happiness.

But it isn’t until, his son (the new life) arose and out sprouted redemption which also resembles “new life”.

Now 30-40 years later, we have the same.

“Your son is gone…[so] I destroyed him.” Kylo Ren claims that Ben Solo is gone forever.(death) He is now Kylo Ren. He is now siding with the dark(decay) but that’s not what the force wants exactly (at least for his future). Now I’m 100% sure that Ben Solo is 100% alive. Anakin was never gone, Ben Solo was never gone. We all know that Luke said it himself, “No one is never really gone.” Han even said it on the catwalk.

This scene, where Han is killed by his only son (death, like padme, killed for power) is what eventually leads to > “new life”. We already knew that Kylo’s act of patricide weakened him(dark side wise) and “split his spirit to the bone”. However, he isn’t completely redeemed. We have another death, which was once the “new life” but turned into death, but out of that, feeds “new life”.

In this case, Rey & Kylo Ren are the answer, not for redemption but for The Force. Going back to when Luke was giving Rey her first lesson,

She states, “ Life….death & decay that feeds new life.…warmth…cold……peace…violence.” and he asks her, “ and between it all?

She responds with, “Balance & energy. A force…..Inside me…that same force.”

Rey & Kylo Ren are equals in the force. They share the same power. Twin Flames, Yin & Yang, Two Halves of a whole. These two are Force Bonded and remember that The Force is what binds all that is life together, like I said earlier on this post, “think of a circle of life, it repeats itself”. (Reverse Anidala.) When Rey reaches out, She is shown, life, death & decay that feeds new life AND MOST IMPORTANTLY BALANCE. With this new trilogy, “new life” means multiple things: Future, Hope, (like i said earlier) redemption, falling in love & marriage. This now leads me to…..

The Force & Force Bond/Marriage -Love is balance, it’s the answer

I think we all can agree that TLJ is one huge, gigantic metaphor of sex. With the theme of adolescence & failure. We know that already but in the scene where Rey & Kylo Ren are together (force bond activated). They are in Rey’s hut, talking softly to each other for comfort(im dying while typing this fnjffdfdfjdbsfjfl). The amount of symbolism in this scene is crazy. In the background, we have the force theme playing along with Rey & Kylo Ren reaching out physically and we have “wedding symbolism”(I may or may not be reaching but bear with me). Rey is wearing light color’s (the bride) & Kylo Ren is wearing dark colors, like a tux (the groom).

(excuse me but does this not look like he is taking his brides hand and about to put a ring on it?) Anyways, When they touch hands, they see each other’s future, a “new life”. And back to what I said earlier on how  “new life” means multiple things: Future, Hope, redemption, falling in love & marriage. And usually, when you marry someone, you see having a future with them, you trust each other with your feelings(which they’ve done already in this scene in particular), you are in love them and you’re starting a “new life” together. In this scene, the hand touching also symbolizes “sealing a bond”.  The force bonded them together and in many religions, when two marry, their souls become one and sex is a way to show deep compassion for one another. Sounds like Twin Flames right? Soulmates? Kindred Spirits? Another example is the mirror in the cave, she saw Ben in the mirror; her reflection. The Force Bond resembles being spiritually married.

I now want to talk specifically about The Force and why we won’t get a 100% redemption arc for Kylo Ren (don’t freak out, it’s not what you think). What I mean is that we probably won’t see Kylo Ren turn full on “Light” and here’s why:

When Luke says, “and between it all?”

Rey says, “ Balance…… A force…..Inside me…that same force.”

Between Light & Dark. At the end of TLJ, we are left with our only Light & Dark side wielders. Both have not completed their training. But throughout this film, it is their compassion for each other that brought out both light & dark within themselves, Balance. Especially when they were together. When they touched hands, they saw the same vision but interpreted it differently.  After Kylo Ren & Rey face off the praetorian guards, Kylo Ren offers Rey a restart “let all the little things die” (death & decay) and from that he wanted something new to rise up from it and he wanted to be the one to do it with her(new life). But she rejects his offer, but there’s no new life or death. The breaking in half of Anakin’s lightsaber (death & decay) is the closing of a legacy. These two protagonists fought over the same legacy but it’s time to make their own, but by themselves but also together. They have their own stories but they collide. These two, one embodies the light, the other embodies the dark, will soon together, embody balance. Both light & dark, learning how love each other. Kylo Ren redeeming himself through love/compassion, like Vader did through with compassion for Luke. Ben going to the dark because it’s all he had and Rey wanting to become a Jedi because she feels like it’s the only thing apart of her. Light or Dark isn’t the answer, it is love.

“that’s how we are going to win-not fighting what we hate-saving what we love.”
