i really needed this one on my blog

….People are either charming or tedious.

Wishing Josie (@josay) a very happy birthday!! (21.05)

okok theres one part of elements i really liked but keep forgetting to talk about so ill post it b4 i forget again

but HEYO finn and pb’s platonic relationship is. really very important to me holy shit, AT’s been pushing the ‘moving on’ from his crush thing for a couple of seasons now and i still go hell yeah every time its reinforced

LSP tries to break the fire elemental curse on finn by telling him to go to his happy place but his brain automatically goes to all this past romantic stuff with PB at first, its real bad because its still wrapped in flames but Then

finn crushes it, puts out the fire (or rage and anger/pain as the element represents here)

and he goes back to his real happy place, back to pajama wars (still a super fav ep!!) where all they did was hang out like best friends w no hint of romance whatsoever

it felt like a real throwback to Dont Look where finn’s “true perception” of PB wasn’t an infatuated crush but just one of his bros

my boy’s moved on and is learning and enjoying his friendships and im proud of him

What I crave the most out of love, affection, physicality, what I crave the most is really to be understood.
When I talk to someone I want them to care. I want to see in their eyes that they want to hear what I have to say. That my voice matters.
My whole life my voice has been quieted. I have so much to say but the words don’t come out anymore. I’m used to having to be quiet. I’m used to no one wanting to listen, because the truth is everyone only cares about themselves and their selfish need to be the center of attention.

King of Memes

Or, how Tony Found Out About Bucky’s Blog.

Tony couldn’t seep. Sometimes he managed a few hours if he was tired enough, so usually he went to the gym and worked out until he was exhausted. Tonight, though, he found the gym already occupied: Barnes, with his hair tied up, working steadily at the heavy bag. Normally Tony would make an awkward comment and leave him to it, but instead he just heads for the opposite side of the gym. After setting up at one of the far treadmills, Tony worked his way to a easy run. Barnes was laying his fists rhythmically into the bag, and the quiet thumping was sort of strangely soothing. Between the running and the thumping, Tony slipped into a near-trancelike state.

And then Barnes let out an ungodly howl, drew back his left fist, and slammed it straight through the heavy bag with a roar of, “DIE A THOUSAND BURNING DEATHS!”

Tony fell off the treadmill, scrambled to his feet, and booked it to the elevator.

Anon asked: “I get all these plot ideas in my head, but I really struggle with writing them down in words, to sit down and actually write, partly because I usually think too much whenever I try to write (like how the grammar is and how it sounds etc) and I always think it all sounds so slow and boring when I write my ideas down… which leads me to just “write” the story in my head instead of actually writing it :/. Do you’ve any advice on how to stop doing that? Because it’s really frustrating!”

Originally a question for It’s a Writer Thing, but it was decided that answering it on this blog would be better for the less technical answer and the more actionable answer!

This answer will cover two reasons why my suggestion works, and one alternative if you don’t like the first piece of advice.

-       You Need to Stop Caring So Much

Your main problem is you’re overthinking things, which is natural, because you want this scene to be perfect. As perfect as it was in your head, and every moment it doesn’t do that, you become more frustrated and your creativity is more stifled.

Those grammar and word choices worries aren’t about grammar or word choice – it’s your mind battling with the cosmic issue of scientists not getting off their butts and creating a device that projects thoughts onto paper yet. There’s nothing wrong with your writing. You have created an impeccable scene in your head, and the more impeccable it is, the more dissatisfied you’ll be with writing it.

-       So, the solution:

Drink wine. No, seriously. Carve out an evening to yourself, put on some music that inspires you to write or that serves as the background music of a scene you want, get a glass of wine (or three), and sit down.

Drink the first glass of wine.

Play the music and start brainstorming the scene. Let it play out in your head. Let yourself get a little crazy in the details because you’re not writing yet, you’re brainstorming.

If you smoke, have a cigarette, and start on the second glass of wine.

Now start writing.

-       Why This Works

Wine takes the edge off. Stronger alcohol can work too, because it’s called liquid courage for a reason. It makes you stop CARING so much if it’s perfect, so that your mind can relax enough to actually write the scene as good as it can be. If you drink too much, then you’ll have problems with the keys, so know your own limit and drink just until you just have that nice buzz that makes you not so upset if this draft turns out less than satisfactory.

Trust me, when you look at it later, it will be 80% better than you thought it’d be.

-       The Sectioned Off Evening Itself Does Wonders

Knowing that you are just messing around with the scene for the next few hours – that it doesn’t have to be perfect; that it doesn’t have to be really anything, since you’re just having an enjoyable writing session – will take half the edge off.

You’re not here to do miracles – you’re here to chill out with a nice glass of wine and enjoy yourself! Even if you just brainstorm it in your head and write down notes to fill out later, that’s for later! You accomplished something. Good for you.

-      If You Don’t Drink

That’s fine. I’m not telling anyone to start drinking if they don’t like it, or encouraging alcoholics to fall off the bandwagon for the sake of a scene. … unless it’s a really good scene.

I jest.

The key is to chill out. So whatever makes you relax, calm down, and cast off the more anxious side of yourself, do it.

If you smoke, have a cigarette. Or five.

If you like a warm bath, get a notebook and try your best to keep it dry, or if you have nerves of steel, take your chances with the laptop.

If chocolate eases your nerves, get a bag of Hersey’s Kisses and go for it.

Just remember that you have to not only kill that usual tension that life brings, but you have to go one step further to make your inner critic decide to quiet down for the night.

-       To Wrap Around

The key is to calm down. Then calm down some more. Calm down clear to the point where your “give a damn” function is disabled for the night. You can accomplish some pretty amazing things when you don’t care so much. Then the scene at least has words on it – and you can always work with a bad scene, but never a nonexistent scene.

Hope this helps!

darkempressinfinitemind asked: How did you get into freelance?

The short version? Accidentally!

Longer version? It started with a friend hiring me to ghost write their memoir (before either of us knew what ghost writing was. Also he apparently had this awesome life before he knew me and never bothered to mention it before the idea of writing a book came along. Who knew? Random happenstance). I became more confident in the idea of writing for others, and then was referred to the site Peopleperhour.com by a friend of mine, who was trying to pick up freelancing.

I applied for my first job there, and it was literally months before I got any bites. My first bite ended up paying me $3 an hour. I was desperate, so I took it. It gave me a reference, and I got a better job, and a better job, and a better job, until I had enough references to apply for REALLY decent jobs. Fast forward, and here I am with my own Wordsmithing business.

But you want advice, don’t you?

  • Find a Freelancing Website

There’s Elance, PPH, and a wide range of others. Pick one that works for you (or multiple) and start drumming up your profile there. Get samples out so people can see your style of work.

  • Get Reviews at All Costs

Get people you know to write reviews. Take low paying jobs to get reviews. Take whatever jobs you can and get reviews, because they really are everything to a beginning freelancer. I started out with a GED (not even a high school diploma) and still got high paying jobs, because no one needs to see your credentials – they just need proof that real life people have given you a test run.

Degrees and all that? They’re to prove you know your stuff; that someone has tested you and written off on it. Reviews are the internet’s new degrees; be willing to invest some time and effort into them.

  • Take Any and As Much Work as You Can

Not only for the reviews, but for practice. There’s a new song and dance involved with freelancing that you won’t find anywhere else. Big companies are paying millions on Big Data to figure out what little nuances make customers happy. You don’t have Big Data, and you’re up against thousands of freelancers just like you – you have to figure out the key to standing out by hand.

Getting as many jobs as you can early on gives you a chance to test the waters and find your stride before you’re dealing with big clients that are less forgiving of your fumbles. You’ll learn something new from every job so you really ARE the top professional you claim to be.

  • Claim to Be a Professional

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I should give you advice about being honest and doing the leg work before you get started. But they say to dress for the job you want, not the job you have. So act like the professional you want to be, not the one you are.

If you’re 18 and this is your first freelancing job, make your profile and all your correspondences look like you’re 37 and have been freelancing for 10 years (don’t lie, just be indirect. Talk like you’re older. Say you’ve been freelancing for several years, even if you’ve only been freelancing for a few months. If you’re living at home with your parents and the topic of family comes up, just call them “family;” the client won’t know if you’re a married mother of five or are talking about your dad). People will look right over you if they THINK you’re not capable, without even giving you a chance to show what you can do. If you take away that first – sometimes incorrect – assumption, your foot’s in the door and you can prove yourself.

Then after you have 300 five-star reviews and a client list as long as your arms, you can reveal yourself as 20 with three years’ experience, and people will believe you’re a prodigy. Then you’ll get hired for being the talented young professional who IS their target audience, so you’re perfect to create a product FOR their target audience.

  • Be Ready to Put in More Hours

Once you’ve been in the game a while and have established yourself, you can make your weekends sacred with no work stuff. But before then, you need to be on call all the time. What’s going to make you stand out against the rest in the beginning is timeliness.

If it’s a toss-up between you and someone just as qualified, the client will decide on whoever replies the fastest and most coherently. Reply to messages as soon as possible. Talk back and forth on the weekends. Offer as tight a deadline as you can for every project, and if you can deliver early, deliver early. Once you have your reputation and your reviews, then you can tone it back to the same level as any other job; you work on your work days, and you’re gone from the planet on your off days.

  • Follow Your Heart – But Follow the Money First

I’ll let you in on a little secret. I hate web copy. Detest it. A client can have the coolest website idea ever, but having to don my promotional hat and describe their services to a target audience is tedious and unfulfilling as all get out. What I enjoy is blog writing, where I get to explore a concept and tell it (sometimes) in my own voice. I love product descriptions even, where I get to sharpen my description skills to be later used in fiction. But guess what? Web copy writing pays well, because it is difficult and it’s in huge demand.

Here’s a quick insider look at the market: Today, every style of business in existence needs a website. That means web designers are the key holders in a world full of locked doors. They’re making a killing, but every website needs CONTENT. They’re cranking out 15 websites a month but they’re just blank pages without some writing to make them REAL. That’s where my industry comes in, the Tonto to their Lone Ranger, to make their home pages, their about pages, their service pages, etc. so their website is a real website. So long as online business booms, web designers are Sauron and copy writers are the one ring to rule them all.

That’s where the money is. So even if I really hate web copy, I’m good at it. That’s what pays the rent, grows my business, and keeps my employees’ checks signed – giving me the financial security I need to then ALSO do things I like. Ghost writing, book editing, blog writing, working on my own stuff.

If you want to make it in freelancing, you need money for bills. But you also need money to prove to your freelancing site that you’re worth promoting. Be willing to do jobs you’re not crazy about, so you can grow to the point of having enough income to afford doing what you really love.

  • Embrace the Uncertainty

One of the hardest things about freelancing is the irregularity. One month, you’re swimming in cash. The next, you scrape by. At the beginning of the month, you only have one project; at the end, you have 10. I’ve been at this for years, and I still have a mini panic during summer when I’m sure this is the year that my career finally ends. But it never has.

The upside to this uncertainty is you’re never sure when great things are going to happen. The security of a 9-to-5 lets you know exactly how much you will make, but robs you of the chance for those surprise miracles where a massive client falls in your lap and pays your rent for four months within two weeks.

Take faith that a slow month is giving you a chance to rest up for when that tsunami of work comes in. Having a new client every week is giving you a chance to have fun before you have one client for an entire year (which can get boring at times). Freelancing can be a science, but you still need a little faith. It keeps you on your toes, it gives you unexpected bonuses none of your 9-to-5 friends can count on, and it gives you freedom.

Breaking into freelancing is slow going at first, but so long as you’re good at what you do, you will break in. There’s seriously never been a better time in living memory for it.

Hope this was helpful!

Ugh, so apparently my most popular trending post at the moment is the one about racist homophobic “Karen” kicking her gay daughter out of the house. And the reason it’s trending is cause people are calling it fake, and citing the fact that I claimed “Karen” had been writing slash fic for over 30 years.

Newsflash children: You did not invent fandom, you are not even close to the ground level of fandom inception as you know it today.

Yes, there was slash fic being written over 30 years ago, even longer so than that. They were called fanzines, and they were these things printed on paper, you had to sign up for them and theyd get sent in the mail to your houseAnd they were predominantly started by women over the age of 30 who wanted to talk to other people like them without the fear of ridicule for liking something for “silly” reasons like love and sex and all the other things we like about fandom.

People wrote about Star Trek, Star Wars (my god the Han/Luke slash wars involved people throwing gay fanfic onto Mark Hamill’s lawn)—pretty much any popular show at the time in the same way we do today, except now we have the convenience of a place called Ao3 and not being sued for writing fan content because yes, that was a thing that also happened.

As for the people just tagging on “this seems fake but okay” for the hell of it and talking about how no one would take in a queer kid the way Aunt Bee did? I’m sorry you are that jaded.

I didn’t know when I was bitching about something personal going down in my fandom circles, that it’d get tumblr popular. I never know what the fuck I am going to post on this hellsite that will take off next, but it was real, and it happened. M is still living with Aunt Bee who has always been a dominant figure in the OT Star Wars fandom, looooong before Ao3 and even fanfic net was a thing. And she is known in certain circles for her overwhelming kindness and generosity. She was an internet fandom mom in the days of dial up and before, and it’s not my fault if you’re not aware of your own fandom history enough to not know who the fuck I’m really talking about.

And no I will not post “proof” or give you real names so you can go find them, the fuck is wrong with you. These are real people with real lives and I am not about to go rooting around on people’s private facebook feeds just to score fake points on the internet. I literally do not give that much of a fuck about my blog to even try that. I shouldn’t have even been bitching about it publicly in the first place but I needed an outlet to vent that one of my oldest fandom circles was dying and was going nova in a spectacular fashion and tumblr picked it up and ran.

And in the midst of all that, there was one small moment of genuine goodness in the world where another human being said all right no fuck your bigotry and hatred, your kid can come stay with me and did it. And while that might seem unbelievable to you and your own selfish values, people do these kind of things.

I can name five people off the top of my head here on tumblr who have helped rescue someone else from shitty abusive situations, and taken them into their homes and cared for them like their own family.

The entire sum of the universe is not shit and desolation.

And I’m sorry that you think it is.

The Party part 16/?

K: …

L: …

L: Aren’t you going to say anything?

L: Whoa okay settle down-

K: Lance do you… even like me?

L: What?

K: Don’t ‘what’ me you know exactly what I’m talking about.

K: You walk around flirting with any mildly attractive alien we come across and I can’t help but feel like…

L: Like what?

K: Like I’m nothing special to you! Just another person you can flirt with when you feel like it, then move onto the next because it’s no big deal to you

K: d-don’t you know how much I care about you?

K: I-I mean we have arguments and disagreements and I know you’d probably be happy with someone else but to lead me on like this… and for this long.

K: It’s fucking cruel!

K: Is everything that you’ve done just some kind of petty game? Another competition you want to beat me at?! another way you can one up me!?

K: If that’s the case then, you must really hate me! a-and I know this all just might be my fault for forcing things, instead of just letting myself hate you-

K: Too….

I have finally rewatched this amazing musical and this is just a perfect crossover for these two, okay?

And I believe, there’s good in everybody’s heart,
Keep it safe and sound.
(Listen close to everybody’s heart,
And hear that breaking sound.)
With hope you can do your part
To turn a life around!
(Hopes and dreams are shattering apart
And crashing to the ground!)

BTS Reaction - You’re having an off day

Anonymous said: First I wanna say that your writing is really freaking lovely – your blog is one of my favorites now! Thank you for your hard work (´▽`) And next! Could I request BTS reacting to their S/O having one of those days where they’re kinda sad? Not for any particular reason – that’s just how they feel and need some time to recharge, and it’s something that happens every now and then. Thank you so much!!

Ugh, do I understand this!

Jimin:

When he found you sitting in bed, covered in the blankets, Jimin would look at you sympathetically and climb into the bed next to you. He’d lay down and pull you into his arms before quietly asking if there was something wrong.

“No, today’s just a sad day,” you sigh, burrowing into his chest. He’d put his arm around you and stroke your hair with the other hand but stay silent, wondering if he should ask if you needed anything. When he looked at your face, he’d see your eyes were closed and then would kiss your forehead, hoping that you’ll be out of your funk by tomorrow.

Jungkook:

He’d walk in and see you curled up on the couch, wearing his sweatshirt. Your eyes were fixated on the TV, watching reality shows mindlessly. “You alright, babe?” He asked, shuffling over to the side of the couch and kissing your temple.

When you didn’t respond, his eyebrows scrunched and he walked back over to you and stood in front of your line of vision. “What’s going on, Y/N?”

You roll to your back and look up at Jungkook, “Just a sad day, I guess.”

When he heard that, he would gently pick you up bridal style despite your quiet protests, and carry you upstairs and into the bedroom. He’d plop you down and then ask if you needed anything. When you say no, he’d come around to the other side of the bed and let you lay on top of him, while wrapping his arms around you and hugging you tightly.

Namjoon:

You’d be in the kitchen making tea when Namjoon walked in. He’d begin to talk to you, but when you didn’t answer and walked out to the living room his eyebrows would scrunch together in confusion.

“What’s wrong, baby girl?” He’d ask quietly as he walked over to you, taking a seat beside you on the couch. You just stirred your tea but looked over at him with a shrug. “Just an off day, I guess.”

Without missing a beat, Namjoon would gently take your tea from you and place it on the table. He’d lift you onto his lap where your face was nuzzled against his shoulder and your arms were thrown around his waist. He’d stroke your hair and hold you tightly while asking you what was up, if he could do anything for you, and other things to distract you from being upset.

J-Hope:

He’d wake up to see you sitting on the edge of the bed, playing with your hands. Usually by this time, you were already awake and jumping on your boyfriend to get up, too. But J-Hope knew something was different this morning.

“Y/N? You okay?” He’d ask in a raspy voice, looking up at you. You shrugged and said, “I’m just not feeling well.” At that, Hoseok would sit up and gently pull your shoulder to make you face him. “You’re sick? Do you have a temperature?”

“No..just an off day.” You said, and Hoseok’s eyes would soften. “Well. Then come here, okay?” He’d say, taking hold of your wrist and pulling you down beside him, where your cheek laid on his chest and his arm held you tightly against him. He’d rub little circles on your back to soothe you and occasionally kiss the top of your head.

Suga:

He’d get home from work and notice that you weren’t being your bubbly self. You’d have your earbuds in your ears, and Yoongi could hear the music blasting all the way from the kitchen. He’d stand in the doorway and watch you for awhile until he figured he needed to say something.

“Hey. You okay?” He’d ask, walking over and gently taking one of the earbuds out. You’d sigh and look up at him, concern written all over his face. “I’m just having an off day.” You’d say. He’d take the other earbud out of your ear before sitting down next to you, putting an arm around your shoulders and holding you close to him. “Show me what you’re listening to, hm?”

The two of you would sit there and you’d show him a bunch of songs on your playlist. He even got you to laugh once when one of his songs showed up and he pretended to absolutely hate it. As you were silently listening to one of his songs, he’d lean over and press a long kiss to your lips and then to your forehead.

Jin:

They didn’t call him Mama Jin for nothing. When he saw you sitting in the loveseat in the corner of the living room, staring out the window, he’d walk over with a cup of hot chocolate and pull you up out of the seat he could sit down. He’d then let you climb into his lap and the two of you would take turns sipping the hot chocolate.

“Just an off day, huh?” He’d ask as you shifted so you were leaning against his chest. His arms would be wrapped around you and you’d interlock your fingers with his. “Yeah. I’m okay though.” You’d say, looking up to kiss his cheek.

Taehyung:

Walking in, he’d immediately be engulfed in a hug. You had a rough day, especially because Tae wasn’t there to make you feel better. “Woah, Y/N, you okay?” He’d ask. When you didn’t answer and continued to hug him tightly, he’d sigh and put his stuff down before putting his arms around you and hugging you back.

“Come here,” Taehyung would say, detaching himself from your grip and leading you to the couch, where you’d lay down next to him and be face to face. He’d wrap an arm around you and the other would stroke your face, before he leaned in to press a kiss to your lips. “I’m sorry you’re having an off day, baby.”

a/n: shoutout to @bisexualninej for so much help. i just. love these two and i couldn’t resist writing these trans boyfriends

Jack doesn’t like the idea of crushes. Mostly because he doesn’t understand them. Like, just because someone is beautiful and nice and kind, that means Jack has to suddenly be able to think of nothing else? What’s the point of that?

Jack can count on one hand the amount of crushes he’s had. He’s dated a lot of people, kissed even more, fucked less people than others would assume he has. But crushes? Honest to god liking someone? Not his thing. Jack Kelly isn’t about that life. And yes, he did just phrase it like that.

Which is why Jack is hesitant to call what he feels for David a crush. That? Would not make sense. They’ve literally talked twice and both times have been brief - small talk in every sense of the phrase. But… well? Jack definitely does feel something, something he doesn’t feel around others.

Not that any of that matters. Because even if it is a crush - which it’s not, okay? - it’s not like Jack is going to do anything about it. If Jack met David at a party, he probably would have pursued him, made out with him, and then that would be it. The end.

Instead, Jack has to see him every Thursday. Jack feels like this is some kind of cliche - having a crush (wait, no, not a crush!) on the model for his figure drawing class. Thankfully there hasn’t been any nudity. Jack has a feeling that’s coming and he has a feeling he’ll be sick that day.

Got any good Sterek fic suggestions? (I'd prefer action to smut, if it isn't too much to ask. I really liked Home by typewriter-girl on ao3)

Well, there’s my fic recs on my blog, first of all, but here are a few new Sterek fics I’ve read since it was last updated. (I can’t promise there won’t be smut in some of these, though, or that they’ll be action packed, sorry.)

Five Days in Detention by alisvolatpropiis (3,408 words | Not Rated | One-Shot)

It’s still preseason, sure, but he needs to be practicing. He led the team to the State semifinals last year, and he’s determined to not only make it to the finals this year, but to win the title. He should be on the field right now, practicing his play calls and prepping for next week’s season opener against Saint Pius.

And he can’t do that if he’s wasting his time in detention with these losers. There are a couple of burnouts lazing over some seats by the window, one kid with his face on a desk, hood over his head, and a few Goth kids are sitting in the back corner, looking surly and morose. Maybe you wouldn’t be so miserable if you didn’t listen to such shitty music, he thinks, turning towards his usual seat in the back of the room.

He pauses for the briefest of moments when he sees who’s already sitting there, in the second-to-last row, black-clad limbs spread out, acoustic guitar in his lap, long fingers casually plucking at the strings.

Stiles Stilinski.

* Not a Promise by eeyore9990 (1,574 | Rated T | One-Shot)

Promises can be broken. Stiles’ love for Derek cannot.

That’s a fact.

But maybe Derek needs to hear it anyway.

* Five Times Derek and Stiles Touched ‘Platonically’ and the First Time They Didn’t by 42hrb (2103 words | Rated T | One-Shot)

It didn’t start off as anything other than friendship, werewolves are naturally touchy creatures and after everything that Stiles went through sometimes he needed physical contact to come back to himself. It really didn’t start as anything other than two guys who saved each other’s lives a lot, but it turned into… something.

* 36 Questions by Leslie_Knope (8,071 words | Rated T | One-Shot)

“So I’m doing my senior psych thesis on friendships,” Erica says, not-so-accidentally elbowing Derek in the ribs as she turns to face Stiles. “How they develop, how intimacy is fostered, stuff like that.”

“That’s cool,” Stiles says agreeably. “What’s our part?”

“Well, I can’t really tell you the point because that would influence the results. But it’s a set of 36 questions that you have to ask each other.”

“Just the two of us?” Derek chimes in, finally, and Stiles sighs.

“Okay, dude,” he says, making a face, “could you try not to look quite so offended? Like, my ego’s pretty strong, but come on, man.”

* The Price by theroguesgambit (18,452 words | Rated M | 5/5 chapters)

Stiles must surrender the most important thing in his life to protect the town… and no one can figure out what it was.

* Are You Happy by theabominablesnowman (33,180 words | Rated G | One-Shot)

Stiles has been away for work for a little over two weeks, and Derek and their son are getting antsy about it. (Who wouldn’t?)

Or, a few days in the life of the Hale-Stilinski family, and a whole lot of fluff.

i really do need people to follow, my dash is SO empty and i unfollowed some inactive blogs, so if you fit one of these i will follow you immediately :)

I love the propagation of blogs like @probablybadrpgideas, @probablyladrpgideas, @probablygoodrpgideas and so on, so here’s my idea for a new one in case someone wants to jump on the bandwagon:

@probablydadrpgideas

Every RPG idea is expressed as a dad joke.

“The adventurers need to travel to an interdimensional temple inhabited by a Yuan-Ti cult. The adventure is called Snakes on a Plane.”

Edit: That’s not really a dad joke I’m bad at dad jokes I’M NOT A DAD
