What do you think about those who call Naruto selfish and not taking sasuke and his feelings into consideration? P,s I love you!!
This is constantly brought up in the fandom and I’ve changed my mind about it constantly, but currently, my thoughts are the following:
Naruto may not have taken what Sasuke needed into consideration since before Jiraiya died, he couldn’t understand what losing someone dear to you felt like the way Sasuke did, he couldn’t possibly know what Sasuke felt so he may have acted selfishly when he insisted on bringing him back, but I STRONGLY believe that Naruto had always kept Sasuke’s well being in mind. Do people really expect that Naruto or anyone, for that matter, would find it fitting for Sasuke to run off with a man who had tried to kill all of them (And almost succeeded)? Of course not. Sasuke needed to leave Konoha, yes, but Orochimaru was hardly a fitting option for a mentor. Of course, Naruto wanted to protect his best friend from a man like that. Naruto was also THIRTEEN at the time, yet he was expected to act like an adult? He was expected to understand the complexity of what had been happening?
ANOTHER THING that the fandom seems to forget is that Naruto eventually backed down from his selfish actions once he understood Sasuke’s pain, once he said “Everything you’ve been doing is understandable” “Our roles could have been reversed” “I will shoulder your hatred and die with you”. This was a turning point for their relationship, Naruto developed as a character and grew up, shifted his focus.
In short, did Naruto do everything right from the start? No. Was it expected of a 13-year-old to do so? Also no.
