i really like concept art, okay

anonymous asked:

Do you mind if people repost your art with credit(or they should ask you and have the permission first)? Really love your art:)

Hnn okay. This is a topic that I have very mixed feelings on, to be honest. In the past I’ve allowed people to repost my art with credit on a case-by-case basis if they ask permission first (not on tumblr where obviously I would prefer people to just reblog my original post, but on places like instagram), but the whole concept makes me feel weird? I feel like allowing other people to post my artwork takes away the control I have over those pieces of artwork.

And uncredited reposts, especially in instagram - and sometimes on VERY POPULAR instagram accounts fuck you guys seriously “credit to the artist” is bullshit pls stop this - are the bane of  my life and so emotionally draining to deal with.

ANYWAY, I think I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t feel comfortable with other people reposting my artwork at all. I really hope people understand why and respect the decision. I’ve been in two minds in the past but am now pretty firmly in the “please don’t repost” camp.

I’m glad you enjoy my artwork, though, and I really appeciate you clarifying this before posting anything <3 That means a lot to me.

Okay so, this is officially my first digital piece- kinda besides crappy first tries ages ago. I did all the line work on paper because I can’t figure out how to do so on my app without screwing up! Haha, anyways to the important bits!

So this little kylux piece is based on the first chapter of Here Comes Your Man by @hollyhark. I love this fic for many reasons, and that like tender first scene after they do it is pretty much amazing and sweet. I had to draw the armbands because I love the concept and have always liked wearing bands on my arms over my nonexistent muscles lol. I added the smoke after, to kind of represent the way even then on their first night things are already going up in smoke (The heavy fire theme throughout the story is also something I love about it) I’m not that great at much of anything digital art related yet so bear with me! I know the shading on the sheets and pillows is kind of awkward. :/ I hope this is okay to look at, I’m not sure how great it really is haha, but I hope some people enjoy it! <3 Thanks for the inspiration Holly! <3

Okay but one thing I really have to piint out is Pearl’s fucking stupid comment about not being able to draw while holding up what I can only assume is Aqua concept art.

Like. Bitch, I want to like you, sorry the writers are making you into that one art hoe™ because you certainly don’t deserve to get any worse than you already are, and what the fuck. I thought she was writer’s fave, why is she getting even more bitchy comments? Fucking why

How Anime make second seasons

Sword Art Online: Take those two books over there. Boom. New season.

Assassination Classroom: How much manga do we have left? Okay. Let’s use it.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Chillax bro, we have, like, tons of chapters to burn through!

RWBY: Just add a dance sequence. I don’t care where, I just want my swanky dance number!

Digimon: New generation! Yeah! This can’t go horribly wrong!

Madoka: We really pissed off people with that movie… Erm… S2… Um… H-here! Enjoy this concept trailer!

Code Geass: Just fuck my shit up.

Haruhi: {literally copy pasta’s the same episode eight times} Done.

Summer 2017 Anime Anticipation

My friends, the end of spring is upon us  yet again, summer is approaching bringing with it my first quarter-century birthday and a wave of new anime of which there are no sequels of interest for me, so the list of shows I may end up watching is unusually diverse and pretty wild. HeroAca, Virgin Soul and Re:Creators continue into the summer too, the first two being brilliant, the latter… eh. I’ll talk about it in my final review of the season

Top interest

Shokoku no Altair: Definitely my most anticipated show of the season. The manga’s been making waves all over the place and getting praised for its story and beautiful artwork and since MAPPA now has all the money in the world after Yuri on Ice became the fifth (potentially even third, time will tell) best-selling anime since 2000, I hope they’ll do something really good with it.

Ballroom e Youkoso: Production I.G. picking up another sports anime? And one based around an artistic-interpretative competitive sport? Sign me the fuck up a hundred times over! I gotta say though, that my excitement for this show has soured due to 1) the fucking giraffe necks in the concept art and 2) All the fuckboys rallying up around it saying “don’t worry, this one isn’t gay shit like Yaoi on Ice™”. But I still have high hopes for this

Vatican Kiseki Chousakan: The premise sounds so kooky and cool and fun and I’m weak okay? It’s definitely different and sounds interesting so I hope it delivers

Katsugeki Touken Ranbu: After the massive let down that was Hanamaru, my interest in this franchise has dwindled quite a bit. Since they’re doing this as a more plot-heavy historically-focused rendition of the characters, I’m hoping it’ll be more my kind of thing and that ufotable makes it look amazing.

DIVE!!: The other sports anime of the season and it’s about diving of all things! Diving is one of my favorite sports to watch, but the studio doing this is kinda new so I’m worried they won’t be able to produce the animation this kind of sport would require. Fingers crossed. Just hoping it won’t be another Battery.

High expectations

Kakegurui: Looks cool? Not a concept I’ve seen before so I think it could be very fun and unique. I literally don’t know, I’m casting a sort of wide net because there are no sequels of interest for me this season but there seems to be an abundance of “I’ve never seen an anime about this!” shows which is kind of a rare thing in the medium.

Isekai Shokudo: I’d usually pass on anything that uses ‘isekai’ on its title, but my interest for the growing trend of food-centric anime beats my zealousness against otaku isekai LN. Hopefully it’ll turn out sweet and fun

Keppeki Danshi Aoyama-kun: The concept sounds weird enough to work in the same way that Tanaka-kun, Sakamoto, Saiki Kusuo and Nozaki-kun did. I’m only crossing my fingers for a weird af comedy, I ain’t asking for much.

Who the fuck knows, could go either way

The Reflection: This has been in the works for a while and it’s actually a collab with Stan Lee so basically I have no idea of what to expect but it has 50/50 chances of being amazeballs/a train-wreck and I’m quite curious.

Centaur no Nayami: In principle I like the idea of a slice-of-life about centaurs, definitely looks like something more in my taste than raunchier monster girl shows, but since this is a Chinese coproduction and the main girl has huge tiddies I’m cautious about it.

Saiyuki Reload: I haven’t watched the original Saiyuki –I’ve meant to, but my pile of shame is so big- so I don’t even know if I’d be able to watch it, but if it turns out to be something newbies on the franchise can enjoy, I’m definitely interested in checking it out

The Fate Line aka I have no expectations whatsoever but still intend to check them out (maybe)

Fate/Apocrypha: Back when this blog was young I managed to anger the Fate otaku because UBW was shit, but as I said repeatedly back then, Fate as a concept is something I find very engaging. Do I expect this one to be good? Nope. Why am I watching it then? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I mean if I suffered rape-facilitator Archer in UBW I can’t imagine Apocrypha can have something that’ll make me quit… unless it’s offensively boring which can always happen

Konbini Kareshi: Everything below the Fate line I have no real expectations for, but if I have time to check this out it might turn out to be dumb and fun ala Starmyu or Dance with Devils. Who knows

Hitorijime my Hero: I mean, it can’t be worse than Super Lovers…. Right?

Netsuzou Trap: If there’s something I have even less faith in than questionable power dynamics BL it’s fetiche yuri. Still might try to watch ep 1, depending on the kind of reactions it gets

And that’s the season folks. Really lots of variety and with no sequels, pretty much everything on the list is a wildcard. Still I hope the top 5 shows won’t be a disappointment. Oh well, even if they are I’ll stillhave HeroAca and Virgin Soul.

What shows are you looking forward to for next season?

hey guys!! as always, i really appreciate the support for my art but there’s a few pointers i wanted to add:

  • Please don’t tag my original work as “kin” “me” etc.. if it’s fanart I don’t really mind but it makes me incredibly uncomfortable for my original work to be tagged as such.
  • When you use tags like “new character ideas” or “i’m going to do this” on my original work involving my characters…it comes across like you just plan on ripping off my characters. Which really hurts-I put a lot of thought and care into my original projects (some of which is trying to stew over a story or character concept for months) so to see someone casually talk about using them for their own means..I really, really am not okay with. If you’re inspired by my work that’s fine, but please don’t directly rip off my art or characters.  :(

that’s all! hopefully i’ll have more art and stories to share soon now that summer’s coming up!

thearisu  asked:

hi! so this is kind of a big question, but do you have any advice on starting commissions? im already in the process of uh. i guess drawing more finished stuff, since i leave a lot as just sketches, just to try to get more examples out there and stuff. idk i'm kinda just intimidated by the whole process, and dont really know how to get myself out there for people to commission me in the first place... (it's ok if this question is too vague to really answer)

oooh! you’re not kidding, that is a big question! But I promise it’s not intimidating as you think!

When I first started, I was 14 years old on gaiaonline, doing chibi art for pixel money! I’d offer little messy sketches, or color them with my colored pencils during class like a bad bee, since I had no concept of ‘art programs’ yet. Basically, it’s 1000% okay to start small.

I do think showing some finished work is great- you want people to see what you can offer, but what you offer is PURELY up to you. You don’t have to do full fleshed out big ol’ illustrations right out the door if you’re not ready. If you typically only do sketches, why not try offering just sketches first? I did that when I first started picking up commissions again, and it was much less stressful and perfect for my situation! There are ways to pretty them up (if you wanna know about it, let me know), but there’s no shame in starting simple.

Another thing that will help is offering a set # of slots- basically, you’ll take say 3 orders at a time, and open slots again when those are finished. You can open them as you finish them, or open them all at once when they’re all done, depending on your speed and comfort.

When you want to price it, look critically at how fast you can pop out the sketch. Do some test runs with friend’s OCs and see how it feels with an oc that isn’ your own. Decide if you’d rather offer fullbody drawings, chibis, headshots, etc. It’s okay to start with low prices if you’re just starting out, but don’t be afraid to raise them over time. Something between 5-15$ is a great range and pretty typical for convention commissions, depending on the style you wanna use.

The necessary evil of taking commissions online is you’re gonna need a way to accept money from people- I know there’s a lot of grievances about paypal, but it is what I use, so if you want a crash course on that let me know and I’ll see what I can put together. If you already are familiar with it or another money transfer service of choice (such as DA points, Ko-Fi, etc) great!!

You won’t get a lot of orders at first, naturally- this is good, because you wanna build up a routine for it and starting small makes the learning curve much easier. Remember to plug yourself periodically, reblog, keep your prices/info updated, make it easy for people to find your prices and contact you on your website of choice! I personally find Tumblr to be a bit slower in getting reception, so don’t feel discouraged if that’s your only outlet- just keep your links out somewhere they’re easy to see.

And, i’d be happy to signal boost you when you’re ready. If you have any other questions about anything specific here please feel free to hmu. Good luck! <3

I! LOVE! ANGELO AND AMUN! SO MUCH!!!!!! Just saying, your OC skills are top!! I can't wait to see more of them!!!! (Btw, is it okay if I draw fan art of them?)

aaah thank you!! i don’t feel like i’m that great at making interesting ocs so i’m really happy/amazed the two i’ve had the courage to post here are going down well with so many people, it’s such a lovely and validating thing for me!

i would weep over fan art, oh my goodness, i never thought anyone else would be interested in helping me bring them to life! ; 0 ;

I didn’t MEAN to just blitz out a bunch of smoke beast Percy sketches, but it just kind of happened (especially given the last sketch I did, which I included in this post). This is me noodling about and figuring out how I want to render him, nailing down posing and shit while I think of a nice finished piece I might be able to do.

I WILL figure out how I want to draw that darn jaw. Right now it’s coming out way too Otachi (which given my tendencies over the past couple years, that’s no surprise), and not enough avian. Oh well, I’ll figure it out. That’s what concept sketching is for.

musings on the new trailer!

@insectoid5 using a similar format to your SU reactions!

- Firstly, I’m experiencing major disorientation because it’s JUNE and I’ve been hearing nothing but ‘let the holidays begin’ all day

- I love how they even animate the bell swinging in the tower. <3

- Okay so I’m REALLY hoping that Intense Look that Elsa gives Anna comes at the end of a flashback…

- THEY JUST RECOLOURED THE CONCEPT ART AHAHA they also made young Elsa smile, unsurprisingly as this was pre-accident.

- ELSA STOP APOLOGISING FOR EVERYTHING. (I’m really glad they’re acknowledging Elsa’s continued insecurity. I kinda wish they’d go deeper than ‘I’m sorry’, but I understand if that would be too tough to go into.)

- Sven looks…older? Or is it just me?

-  I am loving this Arendelle aesthetic

- THERE ARE JEWS IN ARENDELLE (expect a lot about this)

- I like the Santa Lucia reference, too. I hope they really explore it.

- Who’ll bet me that the fandom will have named every single side character within a week

- SONG!! It sounds pretty, if not cheesy. But our girls can make anything sound beautiful.

- Anna can skate now, and I am now dead

- Okay so at the bit where Olaf swallows the fruitcake you can hear Elsa’s voice trail off in the background which implies there’ll be some kind of sisterly escapades and therefore SNOW SISTERS PLOT i hope (unless that actually occurs at that moment in the scene but it doesn’t quite match up for me idk)

- *melts when they sing “time” on the octave hooo boy*

anonymous asked:

i saw inkstranger answer this and since you like Thrawn too, I'd liked to hear your opinion on his sw rebels design. Too alien? Okay? Any changes you'd make or altogether? What did you have in mind before the show?

I don’t really like how he looks in Rebels. It kind of diverges from the concept art I’ve seen of him, where he looks like a man for the most part (well built), but just has blue skin and red eyes. I think the fact that he looks more human adds more of an impact to the Imperials hatred toward him. It isn’t just “this guy looks like an ugly alien”, no he actually looks like a man with just a different skin tone and that has more implications to real life verses us just saying the Imperials hate him because he’s an alien. Because he is as near human as any alien they’ve met can get and it kind of forces them to in a way look at their humanity.

Especially if you take into consideration that the ancestor of the Chiss was a human that turned that way because of harsh conditions.

So in a way, presenting Thrawn as more human would have really emhpaised the question of “are we really that different at all” and if the answer is no, which is it, then the next question to be asked is “well then why do we hate you? is it because of your blue skin color”…and then that eventually opens the path to how scary the Empire would have been if it actually survived long after the Emperor’s death.

So I have to agree with Inkstranger on this one.

I don’t like Thrawn’s Rebels design, tho I don’t like many characters designs….they managed to make maul look like a straight up demon rather than an alien and I’m like breh….and don’t even get me started on Mon Mothma jesus.

But it’s important that Thrawn looks more human than alien because a.) other than being blue skinned and red eyes he looks like a normal man and b.) it really plays and emphasizes the flawed ideologies the Imperials have. And if they actually acknowledged the fact that they are far more related to Thrawn than they’d like to admit their mentality could possibly change. But it wouldn’t.

Just some Smakko headcanons

Aaayy so if anyone has kept up with me, you should know then that I really love the long lost Warner sibling, Smakko. For those who don’t know, in early concept art, there were supposed to be 4 siblings, but it was obviously cut down to 3. I’ve since then treated him like an actual character and even drawn him a few times. He was said to be an grumpy and rebellious sibling and I’ve thought a lot on what personality he could’ve had and this post is just to list off all my ideas, so here we go!

- He was created not that long after the other 3, but by someone else. He was never allowed to be apart of the show and since then lived on his own
- Due to growing up by himself, he differs a lot from his siblings and can act pretty well on his own
- He does feel a lot of jealousy and resent towards his siblings, but at the same time, he’s incredibly happy to be around them
- Its in shown in the show that Yakko and Dot get into arguments a lot, Smakko to gets into arguments with them all the time. However, he doesn’t like to fight with Wakko
- He gets along the best with Wakko and has a rivalry with Dot
- People tend to consider him the cutest, something he absolutely hates, and is a huge reason why he has trouble getting along with Dot
- He secretly loves hugs (but don’t tell anybody, its a secret to everyone!)
- Whenever he gets really mad, he sort of sticks his butt up in the air
- He’s never been the one to go nuts over a pretty face and is the only one to not say “hellooooooo nurse!”
- Despite his differences, he can still be in perfect sync with the others
- Just like his siblings, he knows a lot of adult-related humor and the such, but he prefers not to be dirty in any shape or form. Its rare when he makes a dirty joke
- He’s sort of like Misty from Pokemon, whenever his brothers go googly eyes over a pretty face, he grabs their ears and pulls them away
- Tries really hard to be a “bad boy” but he’s really just a sweet kid
- Staying true to his name, he loves to smack things. Everything. Nothing can escape the Smack Hand™
- He hates being short and anyone making a joke about his height, temper or just his shorts in general gets him really mad
- He will rebel against anything, regardless of whether its good or bad
- I’m pretty sure he wants to say fuck at least once in his life
- He looks up to Yakko and wish he could be as cool as him
- He also likes to hold hands to, but that’s a secret as well
- Really good at planning stuff
- Stronk
- School? Pfff not today!
- He’s smarter than he thinks he is
- VIDEO GAMES
- Its been shown many times that Wakko wants to be noticed (like asking people if they want to see him make bubbles with his spit, vomit and etc), Smakko is willing to watch him do whatever he wants to show. In fact, he gives him the most attention
- “Touch me and you’ll die”

And that’s all I have for now. Other things I have in mind is that he’s 10 years old and he’d be voiced by Tom Kenny. The reason for that one is after I found out he’s grumpy, I immediately related him to Commander Peepers and since then just imagined him with that voice (also, Tom is like my favorite voice actor to, so there’s that). Maybe I’ll add more to this post in the future??

Okay but  the only idea I got is that if Geno and Death were to meet after Aftertale story, I think their relationship would go like Hotarubi No Mori E an anime movie I really REALLY love. (Check it out on Daily Motion)

Because the concept that I was interested in is that the two main characters on the movie didn’t get physical contact with each other whatsoever (like touching, hand holding, fucking and shit) but they still managed to make a good relationship out of it. And since like Death just kind of murders everything he touches i thought itd be cool- okay you know what- I’m not really good at explaining anything so just watch the movie and you’ll get what i mean.

Also Bonus art thing:

Yes i know the branch would die but I’m a lazy asshole who wouldn’t change it with a stone or smth so whatever-

i ALSO WANTED IT TO BE AS CLOSE TO THE MOVIE OKAY ITS A REALLY GOOD MOVIE

mmk bye *flies off to neverland*

bluestarsaber  asked:

What would you consider the top 15 villains from season 1 of ladybug and cat noir?

Alright, it’s been a little while since I’ve seen the first few episodes, so my voting my change a little had I watched everything recently, but here’s my current personal list of top fifteen villains from S1!

15. Bubbler (Nino)

Though the Bubbler is not my favorite akumatized victim, he does deserve at least some call out for his unique design and his importance in the overarching storyline. The Bubbler occurs right at the start of the television series, and it’s the first time that a noted close friend of Adrien/Marinette’s becomes akumatized. Whereas Stormy Weather was some distant, angry girl who became akumatized, the Bubbler came very close to home, and in fact the very emotional reason he became vulnerable to becoming a villain was because he cared about Adrien. It is true that the majority of subsequent villain characters in the first season came from classmates and friends, but this is the first time it happened, and it gives an early first impression to the viewer about what sort of battle our heroes will be fighting.

14. Horrificator (Mylène Haprèle)

The thing with Horrificator is that she is very memorable. All the akumatized villain costume designs are extravagant and interesting, but Horrificator stands out even among them. An incredibly sweethearted little girl turns into something like this… a design that truly is monstrous to look at! Then, the way that she is defeated through everyone cooperating together improvising music, is something that I enjoy.

13. Reflekta (Juleka)

There are several akumatized victims who have similar powers. There is a set of villains who force the populace to become more like them: think Guitar Villain, Darkblade, and the like. Then there is a set of villains who morph their shape to become like someone else: Volpina, Antibug, and Copycat fall into the latter category. Reflekta is sort of a combination of both these categories, being as she is forcing everyone to look exactly like her. However, given that there are soooo many episodes - not only in TML, but many other shows - that show the villain looking EXACTLY like one of the protagonists through some sort of “copy” mechanism, I prefer Reflekta over Copycat, etc. because she’s more original. It’s interesting to see a villain turn everyone into a garish, bright pink, high-heeled mass.

12. Mime (Fred Haprèle)

The concept of mime is really fascinating: anything the character mimics doing works - invisibly. The mime’s actions become reality, but no one else can see what is occurring. Ladybug and Chat Noir must use their imagination and theory of mind to determine how to battle Mime. The reason I rate Mime somewhat lower is because this is a similar concept to several other villains in TML, including Evillustrator. Though perhaps Mime is a little more original in powers than Evillustrator, I do prefer the latter over the former.

11. Darkblade (Armand D'Argencourt)

I think the design and concept of Darkblade is more interesting than the execution on screen. I was very excited to see the fencing instructor become akumatized because it seemed like the sort of villain I would like. While the armored army was interesting, it was also less original than many of the other villains in this series. Nevertheless, I still can’t complain to the fun of knights with swords running around Paris!

10. Gamer (Max)

Gamer has a whole lot of cool things going for him. First off, look at that design. Love it. Second off, having a video gamer turned villain and bringing in video game aspects to the fighting world is really fun. Third, we get to watch a dramatic mecha showdown occur on screen! That is enormously cool. It provides a markedly different fighting style that Chat Noir and Ladybug have to undergo compared to typical episodes.

9. Pixelator (Vincent Aza)

Here is where we start to fall into some of the truly unique supervillain concepts, designs, and powers. I find Pixelator’s abilities fun and somewhat unusual in the world of superpower concepts. Not only that, but Pixelator does a remarkable job fighting Chat Noir and Ladybug… he’s a bit more intimidating and threatening than the others because he manages to get the upper hand a few times.

8. Pharaoh (Jalil Kubdel)

Pharaoh’s abilities have a different “feel” than the majority of the akumatized victims in the first season. While that already makes Pharaoh interesting, I am voting him in the number eight spot primarily for plot purposes. I feel like the Pharaoh episode is one of the first episodes where the stakes feel raised or high. There is a certain epic drama to the entire heavens opening up for a sacrifice. I, and some of my other friends, were drawn further into TML because of episodes like this where the villain fights become some serious stuff. Not to mention… the character change from Jalil to Pharaoh is one of the starkest and most interesting out there, while still being a believable akumatization.

7. Puppeteer (Manon)

Manon manages to be the only villain to this date in TML who has creeped me out. Honestly, the very concept of a tiny child becoming a supervillain and playing with people like she plays with dolls… is horrifying. Therefore, the Puppeteer definitely deserves a mention! She manages to be an intimidating villain while being, by far, the youngest. Honestly, of all the characters in TML, I never would have expected Manon to be akumatized because of the fact she’s so small! But this happened - yikes!

6. Stormy Weather (Aurore Beauréal)

In many ways, Stormy Weather is not as unique as many other akumatized villains. Her abilities and costuming make her feel like a magical girl gone wrong. Still, that sense of seeing a magical girl villain drew viewers like me into the series. Stormy Weather is the first akumatized victim in the series, so she naturally makes an impression on viewers. Because she is the first, viewers do not yet know the “formula” for fighting villains, making her encounter with Chat Noir and Ladybug one of the most interesting to first-time viewers.

5. Lady Wifi (Alya Césaire)

I fell in love with the concept of Lady Wifi from the start. To date, this is one of my favorite superpowers given in the series. Even by the time the series ends, Lady Wifi’s superpowers will probably be one of my favorites. It’s unique. It’s so very unique. That, along with the fact that this is ALYA, means Lady Wifi makes a huge impression. Although so many other characters become akumatized, there’s nothing quite like turning Marinette’s best friend unknowingly against her… there’s some great drama throughout this entire encounter. Lady Wifi’s extremely intimidating, she almost gains the upper hand multiple times, her design is glorious, and her superpowers are downright original.

4. Evillustrator (Nathanaël)

I have always been a sucker for art-based magic. Jagged Stone’s music-based superpower was a bit of a disappointment with me since I thought so much more could be done than making a mob of listeners like him. Evillustrator, however, captured exactly what I love in art-based magic: the ability to use that art and turn something to life. Evillustrator to me is more interesting than counterparts like Mime because of his character’s backstory, his design, and the execution of his episode.

Also… it’s such a small thing… but he’s decidedly left-handed. Left-handed artist over here greatly appreciates!

3. Timebreaker (Alix Kubdel)

Okay, talking about original superpowers, Timebreaker is really cool. The core concept of her, perhaps, is not wholly original, being as we’ve seen more than our share of time traveling stories… well, everywhere in science fiction and fantasy. However, the particular execution of her character is fabulous and notably unique. It’s not just that she works to travel back in time. It’s that she takes the energy of others, by touching them, and then storing it in her skate. She makes people disappear and cease to exist. It’s a really crazy superpower, and leads to a lot of shock and fear… especially when Chat Noir himself gets touched.

2. Volpina (Lila)

Where. do. I. begin.

Volpina is the first villain who really breaks the mold of what we’ve come to expect. Her emotions become riled not because of Chloé Bourgeois, but because of Ladybug herself. It’s Marinette making a mistake that causes this situation to occur. Furthermore, her story arc is not neatly filed away at the end of the episode… there’s an ominous hint that she will become a recurring antagonist against Ladybug… extremely exciting to me! This has a whole lot of storywriting potential!

Volpina has been beautifully executed in story already, and I can only anticipate her going forward into something cooler. Beyond that, I adore her design; it’s my favorite out of everyone’s in the series. The colors are beautiful, the design is sleek, and what she wears contains extra meaning. Volpina has illusion abilities and the fox has folkloric abilities to shapeshift (kumiho, Korean; kitsune, Japanese) and holds a daegum (or some other traditional flute), which is an extra round of symbolism and meaning incorporated into her costume. There are even extra fox tails incorporated into her hair!

1. Hawkmoth

In some ways, Hawkmoth is a little boring right now. Most of what he does is stare at a window and gripe. He does not take any direct fighting action himself, but rather watches as a single akumatized victim fails him yet again. Hawkmoth has been very predictable in his actions, going about a repeated gesture in an attempt to gain Ladybug and Chat Noir’s miraculouses.

Of course, to stop a summary right there would be a major disservice to Hawkmoth. Hawkmoth is intriguing and integral for multiple reasons.

First off, Hawkmoth is the very reason the conflict occurs. While everyone else is a brainwashed victim, he is taking intentional harmful action against the protagonists and their companions. He is the one who creates these situations Ladybug and Chat Noir must fight. The fact he does this persistently, over and over and over, while becoming slowly more frustrated, is the very center of S1′s plot. We cannot have S1 without Hawkmoth. We cannot have the series without Hawkmoth.

Furthermore, while his current hands-off actions means he has limited action in the story, it also means he’s got added intrigue. And that’s the second big point I want to bring up about Hawkmoth: there are two thousand unknowns about him. There is the building tension viewers feel… that Hawkmoth cannot stand on the sidelines directing others forever. It’ll be a painfully slow boiling build, but eventually, Ladybug and Chat Noir will have to confront him themselves. And the unknown of what happens then is exciting. The further unknowns - how he does this, who he is, what his motivations are - all get hinted, foreshadowed, and more or less explained… but there’s so much more to understand about him. There’s so much that we, as viewers, don’t know.

For all the akumatized victims, we understand everything. We know who they are outside of their supervillain stint. We know their strengths and their weaknesses. We know their names, their personalities, their day-to-day lives. But with Hawkmoth… all of that has been hidden from us. Who he is becomes gradually known, but it’s such a work in progress. Hawkmoth is interesting because he has us guessing. He falls into a pattern, akumatizing people over and over, but even then, we don’t fully get him.

And you know what? If he really turns out to be Adrien’s father… he’ll be so interesting because of the horrifically juicy drama that has to occur in future seasons. But that’s something to talk about at another point in time. XD

Hey, just wanted to let you know that art posted by otabekxyuurio is reposted from other artists without permission. I don't think they know the concept of reposting being unallowed (because i was like them a few years back, i didnt know) but i'm just telling you so that you know it's not art by op

Ooh, okay thank you so much buttercup! I’ll delete the post(s) now, I had no clue. I really hope that they’re just ignorant and not purposefully and continuously reposting, that’s not cool xx

aaaaaa okay so i saw in the wings of fire tag earlier someone mentioning the concept of a time-travelling nightwing named Clockwork??? and I REALLY LIKED THAT IDEA,,,

so i drew him!!!

i’d imagine clockwork is a total anxious mess, and very insecure to boot (hence why he looks so upset in the art)

perhaps his parents named him clockwork out of hope that he would become an inventor, and were likely sorely disappointed when he didn’t do so.

he’s likely a modern-age nightwing. perhaps his paranoia got the best of him during the exodus, and he feared the rainwings would not accept his tribe into the rainforest, so he ran off.

…perhaps in the direction of another kingdom? one with animus dragons, perhaps? time-travel isn’t exactly a normal dragon ability, so if he were to pull it off, he’d likely need to find an animus-touched object.

he’d find it, and would, out of curiosity, accidentally activate it. what time would it send him to? dunno, really, but considering that most nightwings were fed horror stories of darkstalker, and clockwork is no exception, maybe he was sent back to the city of night? being such a paranoid dragon, he’d likely panic once he recognized the time period.

hm… now im getting inspired to write a story about this guy… maybe he could be sent back in time to a disastrous event in history, and would have the opportunity to fix it

dunno. it’d be cool, but im not a great writer…
