I feel very proud to be queer. And I look for stories about being gay — and I don’t mean a story, I mean the unique and diverse stories that are out there. And one of the things that a lot of people say when they talk about people being gay, they say: ‘that’s great, why do we have to talk about it? Why does it have to be a big deal?’ And nobody ever says that to straight people. Nobody would ever say that to, like, a Jewish person or whatever. I want to talk about being gay because I don’t want my story to be a straight one and I don’t want to not contribute to the narrative and the history that we should be very proud to be included in.
