Number 45 . Any of the pairing from the love square :)

“Tell me a secret.”

Marinette stared at her hands, holding them up against the clear, starry sky, and considered.

She could tell Adrien she was Ladybug… and then she’d reap the consequences on all sides.

She could tell Adrien she was in love with him… and then he’d never look at her the same way again.

She could tell Adrien how much she’d dreamed of a moment just like this…

She dropped her hands back to her stomach.

“Once I got someone akumatized by I accidentally stealing their phone.”

…That was too heavy for the moment, probably.

Laying beside her on the cool, damp grass, Adrien let out a long, loud snort. “Oh my god.”

Marinette covered her too-warm face and mumbled, “I didn’t mean to, but…”

Adrien had tumbled into full-on laughter by then, bright and scandalized and delighted, and Marinette relaxed into her choice, no matter how embarrassing it was.

Worth it, she thought as Adrien’s warmth settled something deep inside her. So totally worth it.

Where y/n is Harry’s assistant and they are both secretly in love with each other.

warnings: a lot of smut

It’s my first time writing a Harry one shot. I’ve been dreaming about being Harry’s assistant a couple of times now and I wanted to write about it. I’m so sorry if this is shit,, English is my third language so yeah but I hope you’ll be able to enjoy it :). xo ML

also shout out to my bub @17-blackaf for proof reading it :) you’re the best. 💕

Harry’s been staring at her for a while now.

He watched her as she was putting the last groceries in his fridge. She was in a hurry, as always. Y/N has been known to be a very stressed out person; always wanting to finish things as fast as she could.

But today, it was a bit different than usual.

Ever since Harry finished the last bits of his album, the level of her stress became unbearable. Harry was on promo tour in London, and though everything was going well (as they both hoped), she couldn’t help that she was anxious about every little thing.

Even after a year of being Harry’s assistant and him reassuring her every time that everything she does for him is amazing, she still doubts herself.

He wished that she wasn’t so hard on herself.

Harry admired Y/N a lot. He loved how she could speak three different languages (especially French, he loved French), while he struggled with repeating the same French phrase. Y/N always teased him when he tried to speak the language, but always helped him improve it. Y/N hated that English wasn’t her native language and struggled with it sometimes. Harry thought it was cute, and would always help her out. Just like she helped him with his French.

He was also amazed by her beautiful eyes and how they would sparkle when she smiled. He thought that she had the most extravagant smile in the world. Harry also thought Y/N was adorable, especially when she would giggle when he told her a silly joke.

Harry loved how much she loved his jokes as he adored her sense of humor. He always thought that they were very similar when it came down to corny jokes. She would tell the weirdest thing in the world and then laugh at herself. Harry thought she was a hilarious precious woman.

Harry loved the way she loved singing and dancing along to her favourite songs. It was entertaining to he catch her dancing around his house while listening to music. She would always scream and cuss, running away from him. Y/N loved all kinds of music, just like he does.

He adored how small she was compared to his height. Whenever she would let him hug her, she would always stand on her tiptoes. Which would always make him chuckle and hold her tighter to his chest.

Yoosung meets a woman that has an uncanny resemblance to Rika at his college and becomes infatuated with her and begins neglecting MC

@rfascenariios hahahahaha, so I sometimes accidentally open blogs and then end up scrolling through and I found this, even though I have a mountain of other head canons to work on, but I just love this so much, so here you go.

  • It started with a picture that Yoosung posted on the messenger
  • “I found Rika! Or, at least a woman that looks just like her! She’s in one of my classes and her name is Yumi!”
  • He wasn’t wrong. She did look just like Rika.
  • Yoosung talks about her constantly, getting to know her at school
  • Now, he and MC have been dating for about a year and a half now, and she gets kind of worried about the fervor in which he is treating Yumi
  • Yoosung gets invited out to a mixer with his friends, so MC is invited along and Yumi is there
  • MC gets to talk to Yumi and she’s nice enough, but admits that she has her sights set on Yoosung
  • When MC tells Yumi that she and Yoosung are already dating, Yumi says, “Really? Because he treats me more like his girlfriend that he does you.”
  • After the mixer, MC asks Yoosung if he loves her, and he says yes, of course, but she’s still really nervous about the whole thing and not sure if she believes him
  • And his talk of Yumi continues to escalate, because she started asking questions about Rika and emulating her
  • Eventually, MC tries to express her hurt to Yoosung about the whole thing via messenger, but he doesn’t understand why she’s all bent out of shape
  • Zen and Seven get in on this as well, basically trying to explain what’s going on in MC’s head, but Yoosung refuses to listen
  • It’s not until Yoosung skips a date with MC to hang out with Yumi that things get ugly
  • She’s hurt, but she doesn’t let it affect her too much, hoping he still loves her
  • Zen even yells at Yoosung for doing that
  • The next day, MC shows up at his school to drop off his lunch, which she always brings for him on Tuesday’s, but Yumi sees her first, says that he’s busy studying and, without being a student, you can’t get into the library, so she’ll take the lunch to him
  • As soon as she has the lunch in her hands, she tells MC, “Yoosung and I went out on a date, by the way. You should probably stop bringing him food. He’s moved on.”
  • MC walks away in tears
  • She goes onto the messenger and says that she needs to break up with Yoosung, as much as it breaks her heart, because he doesn’t love her anymore
  • All he loves is a memory of Rika and the woman that looks just like her
  • He doesn’t see it until after his class with Yumi, and he ends up frozen for a few minutes just staring at the message… until Yumi reads it over his shoulder and offers her condolences
  • Yoosung, having been snapped out of it, says he needs to go find MC and talk to her, he doesn’t want to break up, he doesn’t understand why she would do this
  • However, she’s busy drinking with Zen and Jaehee, her phone is turned off, and Yoosung doesn’t know where she is
  • That night, MC stumbles back home, still super drunk, and realizes that she accidentally went to Yoosung’s apartment
  • Now MC is about to turn away when she checks the messenger and sees that he wants to talk about this, so she decides that now is as good as ever…
  • She gets her phone out to start recording because she knows she won’t remember in the morning
  • ….only to walk up the stairs to his apartment to find that Yoosung’s kissing Yumi
  • MC drops her purse out of shock, and when he hears the sound, he freaks, and tries to push Yumi away (what he was trying to do all along)
  • MC doesn’t hear him calling after her and just half stumbles, half runs away
  • She posts a picture on the messenger of Yoosung and Yumi kissing
  • “I thought he wanted to talk to convince me not to leave him. Guess I was wrong. I was wrong about everything.”
  • Zen tries to jump to his defense, saying that Yoosung looks uncomfortable, like he doesn’t want it, but MC just says, “I need to go drown my sorrows in ice cream and romance movies. I’ll check the messenger once a day from now on. Don’t worry about me.”
  • She does as promised, sits at home, crying, eating ice cream, and watching anything with a romance premise
  • Her coworkers worry about her when she’s at work because her eyes all puffy and red, but she just explains that she had a really bad break up
  • One coworker offers to beat him up for her once they hear the details, but she declines
  • She tries to get Jumin’s advice on killing her emotions so she can stop hurting
  • Yoosung finally manages to ambush her a few days after she saw him kissing Yumi at her apartment before she leaves to go to the grocery store
  • He explains that Yumi was there trying to help him (or so she claimed), then suddenly grabbed him and kissed him. She then tried to convince him that MC didn’t love him and only Yumi could
  • But Yoosung knows better, he feels like a jerk, and realizes that Yumi is nothing like the Rika he knew (which wasn’t necessarily the real Rika, but he doesn’t know that)
  • He begs MC to take him back
  • MC states that they’ll start with the dinner she’s about to make, and they can go from there
  • They go grocery shopping, then cook and eat together
  • He ends up kissing her goodbye at the end of the night
  • And twenty minutes after leaving, he comes back and, just-
  • This impulsive, loving yandere child just drops down on one knee with a ring in his hand
  • A few weeks later, Yumi has made no further progress with Yoosung and is getting frustrated, and when MC shows up on campus again to give Yoosung his lunch, Yumi goes to confront her…. then sees the ring on her finger
  • Before Yumi can approach to ask what’s going on, Yoosung is there, kissing MC, giddy as ever to see her
  • Yumi is forced to walk away and save herself the embarassment

Either Alfor or the Queen are like "Fuck the Space Police" and add Coran to the royal line registry. Coran only finds out in the present.

I like you. Ok, so, polyverse, natch.

“Oh my, oh my, oh my, it has been so long since we have had such distinguished guests!” the tiny Turimonqua maid was chirping, her rainbow lace wings flashing in the light as she fluttered from person to person to pin their access badges to the collars of their clothing. “To think, an entire royal entourage!”

“Your mistress’ hospitality has been very impressive,” Allura said politely as she bowed, prompting the rest of them to follow suit. “Thank you for putting us up on such short notice.”

“Oh, it is no problem at all. Anything, anything at all for a king and his daughter!”

Silence.

“I- I beg your pardon, run that by me again?” Coran asked hesitantly.”

The maid produced a tiny scroll made of glimmering light. “You are Coran, first of his name, Second Father to Allura, Fourth of the Allura Title, correct?”

“I- well, yes, but I was unaware that-”

“Then it is settled! Come, come, your rooms are this way!”

“A king?!” Lance asked, gaping, as Coran paced back and forth in the common area that joined their rooms.

“Believe me, this is just as much a surprise to me as it is to you,” he protested. “I mean… they’d always said they would, but-”

“Said they would what?” Shiro prodded.

“Well, it was always a given that if anything were to happen to their majesties before Allura came of age, I would care for her,” Coran said, and Allura took hold of his hand and squeezed. “But it was always going to have to be behind the scenes as her retainer. The nobility never would have accepted me stepping up to the throne.”

“Why not?” Pidge asked. “You were practically their second in command. Who better?”

Coran scratched the back of his neck, looking distinctly uncomfortable. “Mm…”

Allura squeezed tighter. “I’m right behind you, Aipa.”

He sighed. “The fact of the matter is, Altea had a very deep split along class lines. Alfor and Illyere worked very hard to do better by the lower classes, but the nobility fought it tooth and nail. It was the scandal of scandals when it came out that the three of us had formed a relationship. Whispers ran from them slumming it to me attempting a coup from the bedroom.”

Hunk made a very unamused growl, pounding fist to palm. “Too bad we couldn’t have been around then to knock a few heads straight.”

“Hell yes,” Lance agreed, grin vicious,  and there were some grim agreeing nods.

That finally seemed to take the worst of the tension out of the room when Coran laughed. “Thank you. And to be honest, your predecessors were much the same way about it. But… there you have it.” He raked his fingers through his hair. “I can’t believe they actually did it, though.”

“Well, you know how Mama loved to thumb her nose at her fellow bluebloods. There’s probably video recording somewhere of her and Papa and Archivist Michika laughing as they filed it to record.”

“Hey, I bet we could find it,” Pidge said with a wicked grin. “What do you think the search code would be?”

“Ten to one it was a present…. Aipa’s birthday.”

Coran groaned. “They would.”

“Birthday hunt for King Coran!”

“Don’t you dare start calling me that, I swear on-”

you really think lillian “i hate aliens so i’m going to kill them all or die trying” luthor would ever make an arranged marriage for her daughter with an alien like………listen she may not love lena but she still probably thinks that lena is “hers” in a very gross possessive way and yes that concept is very fucked up but again i will say do you think the mother and father that created lex luthor would ever arrange a marriage for their daughter with an alien

A./N: I’m so so sorry this is so late! I’m probably going to go looking for members because I have too much going on at school to keep these coming out in a timely manner. I apologize again! I love you :)

You adjusted your backpack on your shoulders, taking a deep breath before you pushed your way past the bodies in the crowded hallway. Needless to say, you were nervous as hell. Kids in high school weren’t always the nicest, and despite being a Stark, making friends wasn’t at all your forte. You were too introverted for your own good, and your method of making friends consisted of you waiting for an extrovert to take you under their wing. Starting at a new school a month in wasn’t helping your case either. You clutched your schedule in one hand, desperately hoping you would find your classroom before the bell rang. You were so frazzled, you didn’t; realize that someone was trying to talk to you. You looked up and were greeted by a boy, he was taller than you, with messy brown hair and a shy smile.

You didn’t say anything, so he spoke first. “Are you new? You look kind of lost.”

“Uh, yeah. I’m looking for AP bio with Woolfsen.”

“I’m glad you’re okay.”

Lena looks up, and oh, Kara’s looking at her with soft eyes, an even softer smile.

(It’s funny how everything about her is that. Soft. Soft touches and glances, that little intake of breath whenever Lena brushes their hands together. A soft embrace, arms wrapped around her shoulders.

It’s so opposite of what she’d think. Of what she knows Kara can be. So different from the sharp words she shared with her mother, from the grip on her as Kara flew them away from the explosion.

She wonders if she just imagined Kara’s quick words I’ve got you, you’re okay.)

*cracks knuckles* Alright, Anon. Let me give this a shot.

S,

As usual, I don’t have enough time to tell you exactly how much I love you, and how badly I miss you and the little guy. Just know that I’m thinking of the both of you. I wish it didn’t have to be this way, I wish I hadn’t let you talk me into this. It’s so much harder than I thought it would be. Some days it takes everything in me not to just get in the car and drive straight home to you. I have to remind myself over and over again what you promised. One day soon…it’ll be just the three of us. I’m gonna hold you to that. Tell my son I love him. I’ll contact you again when I know it’s safe.

Jensen’s P.O.V.

“Yeah Jared what’s up?” I asked as I tried to pound out one more mile on the treadmill. It was still early in the morning, but I had already been up for a couple of hours, getting in my normal work out.

“Did you hear the news? Our usual make up lady quit.” Jared said, and I could hear water splashing in the background. I didn’t have to be there to see what he was up to. He was probably in his pool, spending some much needed time with his boys before he joined me in Vancouver. In a way I wished I was down there, spending time with him on the lake, hanging with his kids who I considered my nephews. But the memories from down there were still too fresh, and I wasn’t ready to face them yet.

“She did? But I loved her. She didn’t try to make us look like painted whores.” I said as I turned the treadmill off, taking a sip of my water.

Hmmm I generally try (emphasis on try) not to get involved in the drama in this fandom (since people here seem to just love to attack each other). But, since so many people are expressing their opinions, I suppose I will as well. Forgive me if this is a little blunt, I don’t have the energy to articulate this elegantly.

Some people seem to be pushing a really negative portrayal of Touka. Like, really negative.

I personally have a lot of critiques about how the female characters are portrayed in tg. However, that being said, Touka especially receives a lot of shit, and I think we all know why.

In the latest chapter, she’s receiving a lot of shit over her forwardness with her sexuality. Which is? :/

First off, Touka was very much under the impression that Kaneki was in love with her. Which, at the very LEAST, he was infatuated with her when he was Haise. I think we really need to consider that Touka probably doesn’t have experience with relationships herself and handled the situation in the way she handles other things: bluntly, while explicitly stating what she thinks and feels. She’s hardly perfect and we can’t expect her to be.

Moreover, I think Kaneki is interested in her, but now he’s regained his memories, he has a shit ton of stuff to deal with. He’s probably had too much stuff to do that he’s hardly even thought about relationships (if he has AT ALL). More than anything, I think he was shocked by Touka, and the fact that she was actually an option for him at all.

For him, it literally went from 0 to 100 in 1 second. From him, probably liking Touka and not considering a relationship, to Touka being like: lmao wanna bang

Anyway, that being said, I love Touka.

Never Letting Go

Hey, everyone! I wrote a little Nalu fan fiction. It’s my first time writing Fairy Tail fan fiction. So, tell me what you think! If you have any suggestions, feel free to tell me! :)

Tagging: @fallenyetstillup , @arandomgirliam because they said the might be interested in reading it

I do not own Fairy Tail or the characters, Hiro Mashima does.

Rating: t I guess??

Pairings: nalu

Characters: natsu, lucy, levy

“Levy, please. Please just leave me alone.” Lucy stared at her friend with tears lining her eyes.

“Lucy, you might feel better if you talk about it.”

Lucy knew she would feel better if she talked but she couldn’t. She couldn’t tell Levy she was leaving. She couldn’t tell her she was dying inside knowing that Natsu would never love her. She just couldn’t. She knew if she told, Levy would try to make her stay. Lucy had already made up her mind. She was leaving. No goodbyes, no pleads to stay, nothing. Lucy had convinced herself it was better this way. She thought it was better for everyone to not have her in their lives.

“Levy, I’m begging you. Please leave.” Lucy mumbled through quiet sobs.

Lucy was hiding her face but Levy knew she was crying.

“Okay, Lucy. I’ll go. But, if you need to talk, I’ll just be at Fairy Tail.

Fairy Tail was everyone’s favorite restaurant. All of their friends loved to hang out there. It was their home away from home.

When Lucy didn’t answer, Levy left quietly. As she walked to Fairy Tail she tried to come up with every reason why her friend was so sad. Levy thought that maybe she had writers block, or maybe she had another bad date, or maybe her father had said something rude to her again. But then Levy thought about the look Lucy gave her when she asked her to leave. Levy knew Lucy was more than sad. She was distraught. She was battling something. Levy knew she had to get Natsu. If anyone could cheer Lucy up, it was Natsu. Levy rushed inside Fairy Tail spotting Natsu’s pink hair quite easily.

"Natsu!”

He looked around to see where the noise had come from.

“Levy?” he looked at her a little concerned for the panting mess that stood before him. “Levy, what’s wrong?”

“Natsu, it’s Lucy.”

That was all Natsu heard before racing outside to get to his best friend’s house. He didn’t know what was wrong but it had to do with Lucy and that was enough reason for him.

Once Levy had left, Lucy started packing up all of her essentials. It didn’t take long. She didn’t want anything that held memories so she only had a couple of thing she could take. When she was done packing, she called a cab. She had sold her car a couple of days ago, not wanting the memories it had. She thought she was in the clear to leave when she was putting her belongings in the cab until she saw a certain pink haired boy racing towards her.

“No. Oh please no.” she sighed aloud.

"Luce, what are you doing?“ Natsu yelled when he saw her put a suit case into a cab.

Lucy didn’t acknowledge him. She couldn’t. She would break down if she did.

Natsu ran up to Lucy standing in front of her forcing her to look at him.

"Lucy, what’s wrong?” Natsu yelled a little too loudly after seeing the tears in her eyes.

“Get out of my way, Natsu.” Lucy’s voice was cold. She didn’t want to hurt him, but the only thing she could do to not fall apart was to pretend she didn’t care.

“Lucy, a.. are you okay?” Natsu looked stunned.

Lucy hated seeing him this way but she couldn’t let herself care right not. She stepped around him not making eye contact. She was about to step into the cab when she felt something grip her arm. She felt the warmth that only Natsu had. That was it. That was the last straw. She couldn’t hide the pain that she felt anymore. She broke down on her knees, sobbing.

“Lucy? Lucy what’s wrong?”

“I.. I can’t do this anymore.” Lucy said through sobs.

“Do what?”

"This! Everything! You.. You just don’t understand!“

"Help me understand.” Natsu said calmly but she could hear the panic in his voice.

“Natsu, I really like you.”

“I like you too Luce.”

“No! Natsu you don’t understand. I can’t keep living like this! Natsu, I love you. I know you will never return my feelings and I used to be okay with that. But now.. I.. I can’t be okay with it anymore. I want to but I can’t. Please understand Natsu. I love you. I will always love you but I can’t do this anymore. So, I have to leave. I’m sorry, Natsu. I will always remember you. Goodbye.”

“Wait, Lucy.” Natsu gently grabbed her arm.

“Natsu, please don’t make this any harder than it has to be.”

“Lucy, listen to me! Please… Lucy, I love you too. I.. I always have. I wish I knew you felt the same way.. I probably would have taken you out on a date or something.” Natsu said with a nervous laugh.

“Wait… What?” Lucy looked at him stunned.

“Umm… You’re not going to make me say that again are you? I mean, I will but, that was just kind of embarrassing.” Natsu looked down with a blush.

“No.. But wait, you… you like me too?”

“Luce, I don’t just like you.. I love you. So much.”

Lucy looked at him dumfounded. The love of her life just told her he loved her. What was she supposed to do?

“Lucy?”

“Oh. I’m.. I’m sorry. I don’t know what to say. I’m honestly kind of speechless. I never would have imagined you would like me, let alone love me.” Lucy had tears stains on her cheeks from earlier and new tears forming.

When Natsu noticed Lucy’s new tears he knew he had to do something. He slowly leaned in making sure she didn’t show any signs of pulling away and captured her lips in a soft kiss. Natsu pulled away after a few seconds.

“Lucy, you don’t have to say anything. I have you now and I will never let you go.”

Lucy smiled for the first time all day. Natsu loved her. He really loved her. He always had, and now she knew. She didn’t have to hide her feelings anymore. She didn’t have to live in pain anymore. She didn’t have to leave. She could stay with her friends. Natsu and Lucy finally had each other and they were never going to let go. Lucy leaped into his arms. Wrapping her legs around him, she hugged him as tight as she could.

“Thank you, Natsu.”

“For what?” Natsu struggled to talk. Lucy was stronger than she looked.

“For not letting me go.” She said into his shoulder.

A fic for Snowbaz feda (@snowbaz-feda ) Day 6. At 11:36pm. At least I made it! I’m very much hoping that I’ll be able to do tomorrow’s fic as chapter 3 Even If It’s just Pretend.

Word Count: 317

Simon

I see her, and I know I shouldn’t do it. Baz would be so angry, and Penny would probably just be done. But she’s too cute, and the way she’s looking at me is melting my insides (in a good way). How could I resist?

Besides, it’s not my fault, everyone knows I have zero self-control.

Baz

Snow should be home by now, he was just going to the market for two things. I’m close to calling him when there’s a knock on the door. I look over at Bunce, furrowing my brows. Bunce looks equally confused, Snow has a key, he doesn’t knock.

Bunce is closer, so she’s up and looking through the peephole before me. She throws her head back and sighs in an exasperated gesture. She doesn’t say anything to me, just opens the door to reveal Snow standing there, with groceries in one hand and a puppy in the other.

A puppy.

I groan, rolling my eyes.

“What the fuck is that?” I ask, standing up.

“She was all alone!” He grins, setting the grocery bags on the floor. “All her siblings had already been adopted. I couldn’t leave her!”

Bunce rolls her eyes and retreats to the kitchen table with her book, as if to say ‘you deal with this.’

I should deal with it, but I just shrug, done with it. “I don’t live here.”

“I need to name her. I was thinking Cherry. Or Scone,” The puppy (it looks like a golden retriever) squirms in his hands. Typical Snow, trying to name her after scones.

“If you’re going to name her after food, just go with blood-bag,” I smile deviously at him. It’s an empty threat, I’d never eat a puppy. I’m not a monster, well, not a heartless monster.

Simon growls at me and starts talking to the puppy in baby talk, probably reassuring her I’m not going to eat her.

I try not to smile as I watch Snow and the puppy play on the floor.

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #94 - The Book of Life

Spoilers below.

Have I seen it before: Yes.

Did I like it then: Yes.

Do I remember it: Yes.

Did I see it in theaters: Yes.

Was it a movie I saw since August 22nd, 2009: Yes. #325.

Format: Blu-ray.

1) I watched this about a week ago - on the actual Day of the Dead - but didn’t have time to write it because I live in Chicago and the Cubs won their first World Series in 108 years. So my priorities were a little different than usual.

2) Anyone here a fan of “El Tigre”?

Well the creator of that show - Jorge R. Gutierrez - was the writer/director of this film! Some El Tigre characters even cameo in the film’s opening, but you have to REALLY look for them.

3) The framing device of this film (a bunch of kids at a museum being told a story) is a classic fairytale/magical realism device that can be found in films such as Big Fish. It also gives the film a plot driven reason for it’s unique animation style (the characters looking like wooden figures).

4) This film has some really great humor.

Vendor Boy: “Churros! Churros! (A bird poops on the churros.) Frosted churros!”

5) I will talk about La Muerte and Xibalba as individual characters in just a second, but for now I want to focus on their relationship.

I’m not overly familiar with Day of the Dead lore outside of this film, but I think the idea of having the ruler of The Land of the Remembered (La Muerte, everything good and wonderful in the world) and the ruler of the Land of the Forgotten (Xibalba, everything that is negative in the world) be lovers is a great idea. Their relationship is tense, volatile, and can be filled with conflict, but never is it abusive. Never is it hateful. You always get a great sense of love between these two and that’s what makes it work.

6) Ron Perlman as Xibalba.

These two wouldn’t work so well together if they couldn’t stand on their own as characters. And the work so well in that field because of equal parts writing, character design, and voice over work. Ron Perlman is a regular collaborator of Guillermo Del Toro’s, the executive producer on this film, and has worked in a number of animated project before (including VP Lancer in “Danny Phantom” and Clayface in “Batman: The Animated Series”). Perlman brings a roguish charm to all his characters, even when it’s just his voice. He’s interesting, rough, and just likable! And he makes Xibalba all those things. You’re never particularly rooting against him, even though he’s technically the villain. You’re just entranced whenever he’s on screen.

7) Kate del Castillo as La Muerte.

American audiences are not as familiar with Kate del Castillo as they are with Ron Perlman, although she is one of Mexico’s most acclaimed popular actresses. As Perlman does with Xibalba, Castillo brings genuine charm, likability, and charisma to La Muerte. As well as an added fierceness that lets you know this undead ruler can keep her own when head-to-head with her darker lover. You definitely get the vibe that La Muerte is the more dangerous of these two but also the kinder, and so much of that relies on Castillo’s performance.

8) Manolo, Maria, and Joaquin.

We first meet these characters and get a sense of their relationship as children, and it’s great. Yes Manolo and Joaquin both love Maria, but they’re friends first. ALL of them are friends! Later in the film Joaquin and Manolo remain friends even when vying for Maria’s affections, and they are friends with Maria before they are lovers. And I think it’s driven home by this statement from Maria as a child:

Maria [after Manolo and Joaquin fight over who’s she is]: “I belong to no one!”

They don’t belong to each other, they chose to be friends. They chose to be with together because they genuinely like each other. I love that.

9) A huge theme of this film is also seen in Maria’s, “I belong to no one!” line and that is the theme of being true to yourself.

Both Joaquin and Manolo have huge shadows they live in (a line which is actually uttered by Joaquin later): Joaquin’s dead father was a great war hero and Manolo’s father pushes him to be a bullfighter like all the men in their family have been. It makes for a unique conflict and a great message to kids of all ages: be yourself.

10) Maria as a character.

You get a real sense of Maria as a character when we first meet her. Not only does she have the wonderful line, “I belong to no one!” but she also shows her placement of morality over societal values by freeing animals slated for slaughter. Her father sends her off to a convent to become, “a proper lady,” but…it doesn’t really work. At least, she doesn’t become his definition of proper. She is loving, kind, sweet, but fiercely independent and someone who follows her heart above all else. Zoe Saldana voices Maria, and breathes such wonderful life into the character you forget she’s acting. Everything about Maria just feel so real it’s amazing.

11) The decision to compose the film’s soundtrack from popular music recorded specifically for the movie (the mariachi version of “I Will Wait For You” being the earliest example) as well as original songs composed by Paul Williams is a great one. The copyrighted songs never feel out of place and don’t distract from the plot, instead playing perfectly into the emotion of the scene. And the original songs are made for the moments which are purely story and pure character, so they could not possibly be represented by something which was already written because this story hasn’t existed before.

12) Manolo!

All the characters in this film are written with such life and depth that lead character Manolo couldn’t POSSIBLY be an exception. He has skills as a bullfighter, but is deeply conflicted by his duty to his family and his duty to his heart. But it’s all guided by love, something with is illustrated by the inscription on his guitar (a gift from Maria, nonetheless): “Always play from the heart.” It is Manolo’s defining characteristic and defining struggle: that he wants to be himself, not his father or anyone else.

Diego Luna just…ugh! So I’ve seen Luna in small roles before (The Terminal, Elysium) but this film makes me a HUGE fan of his! I’m really looking forward to his role in Rogue One BECAUSE I loved his performance in this film so much. Manolo sings more than any other character in the film, and Luna infuses each song with such sincerity and warmth it is nearly impossible not to fall in love with his performance as Manolo. And he treats each line of dialogue the same. Like Saldana as Maria, you don’t feel like you’re listening to an actor. You’re listening to Manolo.

13) Grandma is hysterical.

Grandma Sanchez [after Manolo refuses to kill a bull]: “Kids today, with their long hair and no killing stuff.”

Grandma Sanchez [after Manolo’s father says everyone in their family was a great bullfighter]:

“A BEAST!”

She doesn’t have many lines but very nicely embodies the film’s wonderful characters and humor.

14) Manolo’s Father, Carlos.

I have seriously MIXED feelings about Carlos, and I think you’re supposed to. He shows a genuine desire to do the best for his son, he just doesn’t actually KNOW what’s best for his son. He pressures him into being a bull fighter because it’s the Sanchez way, and when Manolo expresses dissatisfaction with this his father shames him into doing it.

Carlos [to convince Manolo to be a bullfighter]: “Don’t you LOVE your family?”

(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)

(PS, I find this line to be the sign of an abusive relationship but maybe that’s just me.)

BUT Carlos has genuine moments of love with his son. He encourages him to tell Maria how he feels, he comforts him when he’s missing his dead mother, he actually LOVES Manolo. Hector Elizondo’s performance and the writing gets this across in a great way, and I think the film is better for it.

15) Channing Tatum as Joaquin.

I do have to say of the trio of friends, Channing Tatum’s Joaquin is probably the weakest link. BUT that’s like calling one of The Lord of the Rings movies the worst in the trilogy: it was still nominated for best picture! I think it’s definitely because you know Joaquin is the third wheel, you know that Maria loves Manolo, and so it’s hard to get behind it. And you just can see that although they’re great as friends they wouldn’t make a good couple (despite Joaquin’s hopes to the contrary).

It would’ve been easy to write Joaquin as a jerk. And although he can be a bit pig headed here and there, you understand that he’s a genuinely good friend who truly cares for Maria (even though they’re not a great fit). Tatum brings a lot of this to the role, and even though I believe he’s the only non-Hispanic actor playing a decidedly Hispanic character (Ron Perlman gets a pass because Xibalba is an otherworldly creature) he has the same warmth and sincerity as Luna and Saldana have. It’s a nice way to round out the trio of friends.

16) I can’t tell if this joke is stupid or hysterical.

Pepe [when he and his brothers are in danger]: “I’m allergic to dying!”

Pancho: “Especially in the face!”

17) Joaquin’s biggest failing is probably that he buys too much into societal values, and his society’s values are…sexist. He is surprised that Maria reads, expects her to be a doting housewife (as all the high up men do), and that’s not what his heart wants it’s what he thinks should be.

18) “I Love You Too Much”.

This is the song Manolo sings to express his feelings for Maria, and it’s beautiful. Paul Williams has crafted a quiet, loving melody which pulls at your heartstrings and is sung beautifully by Diego Luna. I think it’s my favorite song in the film and one of the best love songs I’ve ever heard.

19) Maria is awesome, if that hasn’t been made clear already.

Maria [stopping a kiss after Manolo’s song]: “Did you think it was going to be that easy?”

She’s not the girl who falls head over heels for someone just because they sang to hear. It’s appreciated, but there needs to be more than that. I love it!

20) This film never subscribes to storied cliches. It’s not like Manolo can’t be an idiot too, as noted when he and Joaquin start to fight over Maria (which she has shown to never truly appreciate).

Maria: “You two are acting like fools.”

Manolo: “Wait, me too?”

You mean me, the nice guy romantic lead, is actually making a mistake? What kind of movie is this? (Hint: a great one.)

21) How long must it have taken to put out all those candles?

It shows devotion on Manolo’s part. As will the rest of the film, honestly.

22) One of the conflicts in this movie that gets me going the most is how unfair everyone is to Manolo. When they were children he stopped a wild boar from hurting people, but Joaquin got credit because he saved the mayor. As adults he’s ready to fight off bandits without a magic medal, but Joaquin gets credit because he does fight them off WITH a magic medal which protects him from harm. And when Maria dies from a snake bite everyone blames him. He’s not the snake! He didn’t bite her! So bug off!

23) My brother and I laughed so hard after we heard this line:

Student [after Manolo dies]: “What is it with Mexicans and death!?”

The only reason that line isn’t racist is because it was written by a Mexican in a film directed by a Mexican which is produced by a Mexican. So it’s okay to laugh.

24) The Land of the Remembered!

The Land of the Remembered is when this film’s visual style really takes off. Gutierrez’s imagination and the animation department’s skill bleeds through every scene in this wonderful place and it really pulls you into it’s world magnificently.

25) I mentioned in my Nightmare Before Christmas recap that Burton and company did a good job of establishing minor character with small introductions, and The Book of Life (although not Burton) follows in that tradition when we meet Manolo’s family.

Each family member - from the brutish Carmelo (voiced by the film’s director) to grandpa Luis (voiced by Danny Trejo) - is given a unique character with just a few seconds of screen time and dialogue which carries through until the end of the film. It works wonderfully.

27) Manolo’s Mother.

(GIF originally posted by @lamuertes)

Immediately there is a difference in what is expected from Carmen Sanchez (his mom) and what there is.

Manolo: “And I became a bullfighter, just like you wanted.”

Carmen: “Me? Are you crazy?”

It turns out Manolo’s father saying his mother wanted that was…uh…wrong, to put it mildly. It’s a nice juxtaposition which establishes her as a character and not just a plot device.

28) Dude, I love this dialogue.

Xibalba [after Luis says La Muerte would never hand over her kingdom]: “She lost a bet.”

Luis: “Oh. She would do that.”

29) You get a lot of Manolo’s tender side and playing from the heart, but it’s easy to forget that he’s still a headstrong Sanchez boy. He still has the fierceness of a bull fighter, even if that’s not what he wants to do. And we see this particularly when Manolo threatens to expose Xibalba. That may not be the smartest move, but it is fierce.

30) Did I mention this dialogue and humor is awesome?

Luis [after his body is knocked away from his head]: “Hey, my arthritis is gone!”

31) The Candlemaker

The Candlemaker rounds out the trio of immortals here, and falls in the middle. He is not about the Land of the Remembered or the Land of the Forgotten, he creates the candles (each candle representing a life). He is this big ball of happy childlike energy which is just fun to watch. And who’d they get to place this super upbeat and positive guy with hope and optimism dripping from him?

It’s a nice change of pace from Ice Cube’s more hardboiled characters to see him play such a wonder filled creature, and to do it so well too! His voice work stands up there with the rest of the cast in that you never think you’re listening to Ice Cube, you’re just watching the Candlemaker. It’s great.

32) ALL THE LADIES IN THIS FILM ARE FIERCE AS HELL!

  • Maria’s fierceness has been established above.
  • La Muerte getting pissed when she finds out Xibalba cheated on the beat is fierce!
  • MANOLO’S MOTHER SLAPS XIBALBA AFTER SHE REALIZES HE KILLED HER SON!!!

It’s a lot of fun to watch.

33) The final fight before Manolo can return to the land of the living is born from a wager he makes with Xibalba (he’ll face whatever challenge is thrown his way and win).

Xibalba: “What, do tell, is your worst fear?”

And then we get this:

But it turns out his greatest fear isn’t killing the bull, it’s being true to himself. This ties into what I mentioned earlier: Manolo’s defining characteristic and his struggle are the same in that he wants to be himself. And we get a wonderful song to tie it up, of the same quality as “I Love You Too Much” and it is simply called “The Apology Song”. (Manolo’s father, who’s dead at this point, said that a Sanchez never apologies but after the fight is incredibly proud of his son.) It’s a nice character climax for Manolo before we get the final fight of the film.

34) When you have no idea this is coming, it’s the funniest line in the film.

35) I give massive credit to the filmmakers for the way they handled Joaquin. He and Maria are set to be married now that Manolo is dead, and he knows Maria doesn’t want it so he’s about to talk to her about it before the town is attacked by bandits. Joaquin could have easily been some Gaston type but instead we got a sincere, honest character who deepens the conflict of the film.

36) This freaking movie…

37) The entire final fight of the film is wildly fun to watch.

It’s well paced, well choreographed, brings in all the characters we’ve met so far (living and dead), gives us a nice “dance” with Manolo and Maria, is filled with nice character moments, good humor, and has Joaquin decide he’s going to be his own man and try to sacrifice himself for his friends (it doesn’t work, he survives). It’s a great climax to the film.

38) “No Matter Where You Are”, the final song in the film, is a great ball of energy and love. But more than that, it let me know something I didn’t before…

Zoe Saldana can REALLY sing!

39) The final reveal, that Christina Applegate’s tour guide and the security guard are really La Muerte and Xibalba, is in classic tradition of magical realism and fairytale stories. It’s a nice ending to the film.

The Book of Life is great, and truly under appreciated. It’s representation of Mexican culture is unique in the animated film landscape, and gives the film a unique visual and musical style. The acting is topnotch, and you can feel through the writing/directing/character animation that it is truly a labor of love for all those involved. A great film which everyone should see.

Up next: Alice in Wonderland (1951)

I saw many people spculate that the reson Chloe is acting the way she does it’s because her father is neglecting her and insted of spending time with her he just give her stuff she wants.

Now, don’t get me wrong, he indeed spoiled her too much, but saying he only show his love in a materialistic way it’s not true.

I get why people think it’s true, we this more than once in other shows:

but I really don’t think this is the case with Chloe.

Mr. bourgeois was willing to come to Chloe’s class for the career day even tho he probably has a lot of work as a mayor (thing that Chloe seems to take as obvious):

and guess who didn’t came for the career day?

I understand that he probably has many work to do but if the mayor himself was able to make time for his daughter couldn’t he do the same?

This man did not hesitate for a second to give up on his position as the mayor of Paris when his daughter was seems to be in danger:

and he tried to act like a responsible parent and teach Chloe a lesson for blaming people with no proves:

as someone pointed out once, his look when prince Ali couldn’t join them because of his schedule shows that he think it’s important to give children time to have fun:

he let her join the juries but was logical enough to kick her out after what she done:

he gives her love and affaction all the time and even in front of other people:

he smiles when he talks about her and to her.

And now let’s talk about Adrien’s father:

hugs and affaction seems to be a big deal and they are rearly happen:

He didn’t make time for him even in his birthday and refused to let him have a party:

Adrien looks sad i their portret:

even when he does “appear” in his son’s calss activities, he doesn’t do that personally:

Adrien’s father seems to fit more to the “rich neglecting parent” motive than Chloe’s father.

and they both lost their mother.

Yet we can see how different they act:

Mr. Bourgeois isn’t the perfent father and he is spil Chloe too much. But I wouldn’t have call him “neglecting” or “showing her love only in a materialistic way”.

If Chloe really has a reason for her actions, it’s not the same as Pacifica and Diamond Tiara.

Reasons why some people don’t like Yennefer

Having been part of the witcher fandom for more than a year now I have had all the time I needed to watch the never ending waifu war between Triss fans and Yen fans. And I’ve read a lot of things. Among other things, Triss fans saying again and again and again that “normal” people should choose Triss and that the one choosing Yen must have some kind of serious issues. On the other side, Yen fans seem so often desperate about the fact that the other team doesn’t see Yen’s true self and vulnerable side. I’ve also read so many times Triss fans saying that we don’t see Yen’s flaws and can’t stand it when people point them out. Today as a Yen fan (who happens to like Triss as well by the way, but this is not the point), I’m trying an experiment. I’ll try to find an answer to the “how can people not like Yennefer” question.

Well first I think that it was intentional from the very beginning. And when I say beginning I’m not talking about the games. Sapkowski himself stated that he never intended to write Yennefer as a likable character, as a character who would “please the reader”. And indeed to be honest Yen can be hard to like.
First because she hides who she is very well behind a cold and emotionless mask. And thing is, a lot of people won’t try to look beyond that mask, simply because a lot of people think that actions define who you are as a person. So if you act cold then you are cold. If you don’t show emotions then you don’t have them. If you pretend you don’t care, then you don’t. But fact is, life is not that simple. A lot of people actually hide their emotions in order to protect themselves, we all do to some extend. Yen is a master at that game and who could blame her knowing her past? That is a side of her personality to which I very strongly relate because I’m very much the same. For this reason maybe, I have become very good at noticing masks and people who use them and I always try to see beyond those masks. It’s something I do naturally, without even realizing it. And there are two things I learned from it : first, people who use masks and hide who they are at first are usually great people and they are worth the trouble, and second : some people will never be able to, or want to look beyond the masks. For that reason, to some people Yennefer will never be more than the cold, bossy woman you can see when you first meet her. And maybe they are not entirely wrong, because in a way Yen IS that cold, bossy woman, in her actions she is in any case. Plus I think it is not entirely wrong to say that what you choose to show the world about yourself defines you in a way. But I still think some people are missing half the information they need to see the big picture.

I know what some of you will think at that point : “But I’m pretty sure I understand Yennefer perfectly and I still don’t like her”. Well I think that’s very possible and once again very intentional. Because let’s face it, even beneath the mask Yennefer is not perfect at all. I love that character very much. I love how strong and resilient she is despite all she has been through. I love her self confidence probably because I would like to have a little bit more of that myself. I love the way she is willing to give everything she has and everything she is for the people she loves because I’m very much the same and can really relate to that. I love her wits, I love her sarcastic sense of humor. I love how smart she is, how much she loves to learn things, how good she is at teaching other people. I think she really has a good heart too, and as a matter of fact there are several examples of her randomly helping strangers in the books.
That being said I understand very well that there are downsides to all that. I understand that her self confidence can be seen as arrogance, especially when it leads her to make mistakes or to think that her way of getting things done is necessarily the best. I get that some people don’t like sarcasm. I know that sometimes Yen will see some sacrifices as « necessary » to protect the people she loves and will not hesitate to make these sacrifices and I get that some people will see that as selfish.
And I think all of this is great. I think it shows that the character is very realistic and very well written. Because here’s a fact : one cannot please everyone. The thing you love about someone could be the very reason why some others will dislike that person. And I love the fact that this is true of Yen (and every single character in the witcher books). I love that Sapkowski took that HUGE risk. Because yes most writers, especially fantasy writers, will prefer to write their main characters as unrealistic to make sure that every single reader out there will like them and thus like the book. Either that or they will write about a huge cast of characters, because when you write about a lot of characters every reader can find one they like (that would be, let’s say G.R.R Martin’s style). Sapkowski didn’t do any of that. He kept a small cast of three main characters and yet decided to write them as flawed, and realistic, and somehow not entirely likable. And I admire him for that, it makes me love his writing and Yen as a character even more.

So yes, Yennefer cannot be liked by everyone who reads the books, that’s a fact, but what about the games. Well even though the games are not perfect regarding the way they wrote her I think overall they did a really great job, and to some extend everything I’ve said so far about the books stays true in the games. But I also think that CDPR’s take on the universe gave people more reasons not to like Yennefer, artificial reasons this time.
First, well obviously Yen is not in the first two games and CDPR presented in those games the Triss romance as “obvious” without giving the player any background from the books. I must say that I have played the games first and well I kinda liked Triss and I kinda liked the romance with her. I wasn’t THAT much of a fan, it wasn’t one of my all time favorite ships, but well it was kinda nice. And even though I didn’t think the chemistry between Triss and Geralt was that great I still thought of Yen as a bit of an intruder before playing the third game. So I can very well imagine the way some people, the ones who were really invested in the Triss/Geralt relationship, felt about it. I mean it happens to me sometimes when I play a new game, or read a new book to kinda “hope” that it won’t be that great because I want my old favorite stuff to still be my favorite and I feel kinda guilty about feeling otherwise. It’s stupid maybe, but I get that sense of loyalty to something you like very much. And in order to protect that love you have for the old stuff sometimes you voluntarily don’t see how great the new stuff is. I’m not saying here that all Triss fans still prefer Triss because they are being reluctant to let go of her and see how great Yen is. But I think it does have an impact on the way some people see Yen as a character. I think they “have” to dislike Yen in order to make sure that she won’t interfere with their canon romance, with the picture they have in mind.

Finally, I think unfortunately that the games have had an impact on the way people see the books, and this is the thing that makes me just a little bit sad. Because the last point I think is relevant to understand the way people see Yen is the fact that everyone is reluctant to change their opinions on things. Once you think you know something and have made up your mind about how you feel about that thing it takes a very open minded person and some kind of courage and effort to change your point of view. And even though I really like CDPR’s take on Yennefer, I do think that they didn’t show the entire picture. And I’ve seen so many people reading the books after having played the games and taking their opinion on the characters with them and transposing those opinions into the books and having an interpretation of the books which is in some way based on the games. And I think it’s a shame. Because fact is, whether you like the books or the games better is up to you BUT the games are based on the books, not the other way around. Meaning that CDPR’s characters are an adaptation of the books characters, they are CDPR’s view on the characters. So transposing CDPR’s characters into the books is a little bit like choosing deliberately to see only one side, one interpretation of the characters instead of seeing the whole picture and making your own interpretation. It’s a bit like seeing the sunlight through a green glass and then being able to only see it through that same glass even though you are missing on a whole part of it. Or to use Sapkowski’s own words it’s like mistaking the stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.

I have to add there that I don’t intend to start yet another waifu war with this post, I’m not blaming anyone, just trying to understand the way people see Yen as a character and how the games can have an impact on the way people see the books. I am fully aware that this is not a one sided thing, that some Yen fans also have a need to dislike Triss for some reason, that some of them won’t like her in the games because of the books, or the other way around and that could probably make a topic for another post just like this one. This post only intended to make people reflect on the issue so please read it with an open mind.

It’s You and Me

A/N: This is a mix of an anon request and one from @millionsleeplessnights (sorry this took me forever) set during the episode Amplification. The reader and Reid have recently broken up but still love each other. When he contracts the Anthrax, she feels guilty. Spencer leaves her a message, as well as his mom. @coveofmemories

                                                              —–

“No!” you screamed, banging on the door with Morgan by your side. “Spence, open up!”

His brown eyes softened as he locked the door, refusing to allow either of you in. “I’m sorry.” When you looked toward the far end of the room, you saw it. A broken bottle on top of a pile of white. Anthrax.

As you looked him in the eyes, you flashed back to that morning. It was just supposed to be like any other day. Work as usual - with a little dash of tension thrown in because you’d broken up with Spencer the month before and weren’t truly over it. You both still loved each other, but something about being in a relationship and working together wasn’t working for either of you, and you still hadn’t gotten used to just being co-workers and friends again. And now this.

“This is what happens when you split up,” you said to Morgan, burying your head in his chest as you tried to stifle the onslaught of tears. “I should be in there with him. He’s alone. He’s always been alone. And now…”

Morgan put his hand on your back, doing his best to comfort you knowing that there was no way to help you. “If you were in there with him, we’d just have to worry about both of you. Plus, I should’ve been there too.”

“You don’t get it,” you said, pulling away and wiping a tear from your eye. “It’s different when…”

“When you love someone,” he finished. He put his hand on your shoulder. “You still love him?” You nodded and swallowed the lump in your throat. “Why did you two end it anyway?”

It didn’t make sense to anyone you knew. Hell, it didn’t really make sense to you. It just was. “Something about working together and being in a relationship wasn’t working,” you said. “We figured rather than get to a point where we blew up at each other, we’d just stay friends.” You drifted off, thinking about your last night together and how difficult staying friends truly was. Even though he was less than 200 feet from you, you missed him.

“So, you decided to throw away what you had on the chance that it might blow up?” he asked confused. He’d thought something else went down. A big fight. Someone cheated. Something to explain why two people so perfect for each other had broken up.

                                                             —–

He’d started out so determined. His mind would get him through this, right? But now he wasn’t so sure. Looking down, he saw that his hands were clammy. His face was shiny with sweat. He was starting to cough. More than that, he was starting to feel the pain. So much so that he was starting to crave the dilaudid again. That twinge had been left in the past - or so he thought. But he wouldn’t take anything - no matter how much pain he was in. He’d die in agony before he put that in his system again.

And if he was going to die, he had a few calls he had to make.

“Hey Reid,” Garcia said, minus her usual trademark perk. He made a joke about her not having anything else for him. No witty quip that might cut the tension, but she was too worried.

“I know I can’t call my mom without alerting everyone at her hospital, so I need you to record a message for her, in case anything happens to me,” he said, his voice struggling to get the words out. The last thing he wanted was to die without his mother hearing his voice one last time.

Garcia couldn’t bear the thought. “Oh hon, you’re gonna find out what happened in that brilliant brain of yours and we’re gonna figure out how to treat this strain.”

“I hope you’re right, but if not, I really wanna make sure that she hears my voice.” Despite all they’d been through, he needed her to know how much he loved her.

“Gimme one sec,” Garcia said, typing quietly and keeping the tears at bay. She hated that she had to listen to this, and Reid probably did too. But it was the only way. “Ready.”

Spencer took a deep breath, trying not to sound scared. All he wanted was to sound proud, because that’s what he was. “Hi, Mom. This is Spencer. I just, ah, I just really want you to know that, ah, I love you and,” he cracked, “I need you to know that I spend every day of my life…proud…to be your son.”

He paused, giving Garcia the time to disconnect the recording and start another one. There was someone else who needed to hear his voice - to know how he felt - if he was going to leave this mortal coil in the next few hours. “Garcia, I need you to record one more thing for me…for Y/N.”

“Yea, sure,” she said, secretly patching in Y/N without him knowing. Even if he wasn’t thinking straight, she deserved to hear these words in person, whatever they were.

                                                            —–

You were going to answer Derek. When he put it that way it made no sense, and you were pretty sure you’d both made a horrible mistake. But the moment you opened your mouth, Garcia called you, but said nothing. All you heard was the crackling, coughing voice of your ex-boyfriend, best friend and love of your life. “Y/N,” he started, his voice catching in his throat as he spoke. “I want you to know, that if I die…I died in love with you. I know we broke up for a reason, though I can’t really remember what it was. I just know that…every moment with you…was the happiest I’d ever been. If I know what love is, I know because of you.”

The phone dropped out of your hand and onto the deadened grass beneath your feet. The tears that fell from your eyes could’ve watered the ground where you stood. “What’s wrong?” Morgan asked, picking up his phone to call Reid and give him some new information.

You shook your head. Right now, you needed to focus on Spencer. Getting him out of this so you could hug him and never let go again. “I know you’re not thinking straight,” Morgan said, “But the Reid I know wouldn’t stop looking.”

“Gimme that,” you said, taking the phone from his hand and yelling into it. “Hey, you, don’t you dare give up. Keep thinking and get out of there and come back to me.” You threw the phone back in Morgan’s direction as Spencer found his resolve again, searching around the room and through files for anything that might help you catch this guy and find the cure for this strain.

As Garcia, Morgan and Spencer talked about your possible unsub, you went into a trance - all of your moments with Spencer playing on loop in your head. You were doing your best to memorize everything you’d ever done together in case he didn’t make it. “We got him,” Morgan said.

“You go,” you said. “I’ll stay here.” With an unsub found and a possible cure in sight, he was going to get taken out and hosed down.

He looked like a drowned rat. But he was your drowned rat. “Y/N, go, you can’t do anything for me right now,” he said as the medics began to hose him down.

“I’m not leaving you.” He tried to get you to leave, probably because he thought he was going to die and he didn’t want you to see it, but you weren’t about to do that.

After being hosed down and decontaminated, he was loaded into the ambulance. You insisted on going with him and the doctor that was working the case. “I fleel fine…I feel fline,” he said, gritting his teeth to fight the aphasia to no avail.

“Hurry!” you called to the driver. He was running out of time.

                                                           —–

A jolt at your palm awoke you to those beautiful brown eyes staring back at you. “Spence,” you breathed. “You’re okay…”

“Yea,” he nodded. “There any jello around?”

Playfully, you punched him in the arm, reaching behind you to grab the jello you knew he’d want. “You’re alive after that and all you can say if ‘do we have jello.’ I’m hurt.”

“No you’re not,” he laughed, smiling at you as he dipped his spoon into the jello. But he stopped. “Y/N, I…”

Leaning up, you cut him off and kissed him, bringing your hand to the side of his face. “I love you, too,” you said. “I don’t care why we broke up. I don’t care if it made sense or if it didn’t. I don’t care if we have an amazing one year relationship and then blow up at each other or if we spend the next 50 years together. I just want you. Okay?”

He put down his jello cup, placing his hand around the back of your neck and pulling you in for another kiss. “You shouldn’t be kissing me. I’m disgusting right now.”

“I don’t care,” you laughed into him. “It doesn’t matter. It’s you and me.”

Hi, thank you for requesting and sorry if there’s some typing error, its really late here and i need to sleep lol. Anyway, hope you like it. x

Mina: She would be really sad that you thought that of yourself. She loved you so much in the way you were, and wanted you to love yourself too. But she wouldn’t give you up because you were more than enough for her even of you think otherwise.

Momo: She would do everything she could to make you feel better and love yourself. It made her sad that you wanted to pull her away because of that.

Dahyun: She would probably think it was a joke until you almost cried in front of her. Then she would sit down with you to talk to you. She would try her best to understand why you felt like that.

Jeongyeon: She would be so sad and angry that you thought like that of yourself. You were more than enough for her and she wouldn’t accept that you didn’t felt it. She would go through some long conversation with you, that would end up in both of you hugging and crying in your bed.

Tzuyu: Once you told her that you weren’t good enough for her and that you wanted a break she immediately replied by holding your hand. Even though she didn’t really know what to do she would try everything she could to change her mind.

Chaeyoung: She would be so heartbroken. Listening to you saying something like that made her feel bad and sad. She would be more heartbroken when she saw that you were trying really hard to hold back your tears.

Sana: “Jagiya please don’t say that I love you and you’re so good to me and I don’t want you to say things like that cause you’re important to me and it hurts me to see that you think you’re not enough. And I’m not going to let you break up cause I can’t be without anymore so please dont say that again.”

Jihyo: She would have some serious conversation with you. She didn’t liked to hear you saying those kind of things. And she would somehow convince you to not let the beautiful relationship you had because of some things that weren’t true.

Nayeon: “Y/n ah, i love you more than anything. Don’t believe when some fans say that you’re not pretty enough or good enough for me because only I can decide that and I decide that you are more than enough for me. I love you so much and listening to you saying that really hurt me. Please never say that you want to break up again or that you’re not good enough for me.”
