You woke up in your bed, someone sitting next to you and a much less intense headache compared to the one you had woken up with the previous morning. Typically, upon waking up next to someone, you’d check to see who it was, maybe say good morning.

This morning you just ran to the bathroom. A large cup full of water and two aspirins were sitting on the counter, waiting for you as you finished vomiting, swearing quietly that you’d never touch alcohol ever again.

“You know, Michael was just as scared that you hated him as you were that he hated you,” Jeremy said from the doorway of your bathroom as you sat on the floor, reaching up for the water. You looked up at him, confused, as you took the aspirin. “You, well last night you kept saying how he probably hates you. You were crying about it for like two hours,”

Making Things Up Again Evan

So this story is a fun little mishmash of au’s, headcannons, and other things (sorry if some of the characters seem ooc). It’s a bmc and deh crossover idea I had after watching a bootleg of Book of Mormon with Ben Platt as Elder Cunningham. I also felt that in a stepbrother au, Jer would be very protective o his new older brother

It was the first of the tech rehearsals and you could feel the excitement of the cast, today they would have all their costumes, props, and it would be the first time working with the band. Jeremy put on his costume (black slacks, a white dress shirt, and a tie) then made sure his hair was neat. He hadn’t believed his luck at first when he’d gotten one of the main roles as Kevin in Book of Mormon.

After putting on the final touches to his makeup, Jeremy went into the wings of the stage. The other actors, dressed similarly to Jeremy, were already waiting. Jeremy pulled out his copy of the book and held it.

“Places in 1,” Mr. Reyes shouted from the stage as he went to sit in the audience, hot pocket in hand.

Suddenly Evan ran through the side doors of the theater and up on to the stage, breathing heavily as he stood next to Jeremy, “Sorry! The makeup lady took forever curling my hair.”

Jeremy chuckled, “No problem.”

Jeremy was still getting used to the fact that he now had a brother… after his dad and Evan’s mom had told them they were getting married that December, both of the boys had tried their best to hang out and get to know each other. It turned out to be not that hard of a task, as both were so similar.

Evan frequently played video games with Jeremy and Michael, and Jeremy often went on hikes with Evan where Evan would talk about the different types of trees and plants.

Jeremy knew Evan had also gone through some hard stuff last semester, what with his best friend committing suicide, but Evan seemed to be doing okay. However when Jeremy tried to bring up the Connor Project or Connor, Evan always changes the subject. Jeremy had a feeling Evan wasn’t telling him everything, but Jeremy couldn’t blame him (he still hadn’t told Evan about the SQUIP)

Jeremy had convinced Evan to do at least one play before college, and with the combined efforts of the rest of Jeremy’s friends, Evan had agreed. Evan had been casted as Arnold, which was impressive, especially since this would be Evan’s first play.

Jeremy walked out onto the stage, as Elder Price he had the first line of the first song. A few seconds later, Mr. Reyes shouted places and the curtain rolled open. The sound door bell rang across the auditorium, and Jeremy started.

“Hello!” Jeremy sang cheerfully, “My name is Elder Price and I would like to share with you the most amazing book!”

The first song went smooth, Micheal kept giving Jeremy thumbs up from inside the booth, which was a little distracting at times. Despite this, Jeremy was glad Michael had decided to join theater. Since Michael didn’t want to perform, he’d agreed to do lights and sound.

Jake and Rich were also in the play, Rich being casted as Elder McKinley and Jake casted as one of the other elders. Sadly none of the girls had fit the roles (though Christine had still decided to do crew, even if she couldn’t actually be in the play).

Everything was going well, then they got to Making Things Up Again. Jeremy watched from the wings as Evan, as Elder Cunningham, talked to the villagers and ‘made up’ passages of the Book of Mormon.

“And lo, the Lord said unto the Nephites: ‘I know you’re really depressed, what with all your… AIDS…and everything… but there is an answer in Christ.’” Evan was doing well, the way he played Arnold seemed natural and his emotions always felt so real.

“You see? This book can help us!” A girl, who Jeremy still hadn’t learned the name of, played Nabulungi. He knew she was a friend of Evan’s, Alina? Adeline? None of those sounded right.

“I just told a lie… No, wait, I didn’t lie,” Evan sang, the way he said the words, Jeremy could almost believe Evan had been through the actual situation, “I just used my imagination! And it worked!”

“You’re making things up again, Arnold,” As the person who played Elder Cunningham’s dad came out and sang Evan seemed honestly shocked to see the character there.

“But it worked, Dad!”

“You’re stretching the truth again, and you know it.”

Jeremy watched the next character enter the stage, “Don’t be a Fibbing Fran, Arnold”

Evan jumped as ‘Joseph Smith’ sang, “Joseph Smith…?”

“Because a lie is a lie” Both the characters of Arnold’s dad and Joseph Smith sang at the same time.

“It’s not a lie!” At this point Jeremy couldn’t tell whether Evan was acting or just reacting as the characters sang. It seemed almost too good… Jeremy laughed at his own joke.

More characters entered stage, surrounding Evan on the platform that had recently been built, “You’re making things up again, Arnold,” Evan missed his line, which was strange (as he’d been getting them all so far) but the other actors continued anyways. “You’re taking the holy word and adding fiction! Be careful how you proceed, Arnold. When you fib, there’s a price.”

The next character wasn’t a part of Arnold’s imagination, but one of the villagers “Ahh, this it bullshit! The story I’ve been told is that the way to cure aids is by sleeping with a virgin! I’m gonna go and rape a baby!”

Jeremy chuckled, he still couldn’t believe the school was allowing them to put this particular play on. All the cursing and mentions of sex, especially with babies.

Evan missed his line once again, but the girl playing Nabulungi improvise, “Elder Cunningham, he shouldn’t do that, right?”

“I- i- uh…” Evan stepped back, Jeremy raised an eyebrow, why was Evan missing cues, and why did he have a deer in headlights look? Evan had been doing really well up until now. “I- I’m sorry…”

Evan sprinted off stage, running into the wings and past Jeremy. Jeremy went on stage and made eye contact with Michael through the booth windows, Jeremy pointed to the left wing where Evan had run through. Michael nodded as Mr. Reyes got up on stage and started giving a speech about professionalism.

Jeremy ran through the left wing and he and Michael crossed paths in the hallway.

“Where do you think he went?” Jeremy asked, “And why’d he run off like that?”

“Let’s try the bathrooms,” Michael suggested pointing down the hall.

Jeremy and him nodded and they raced through the school hallways. The first bathroom was towards the entrance to the school. The boys went into the men’s bathroom. Jeremy couldn’t help but remember that it was the same one Rich had told Jeremy about the SQUIP in.

Once they’d turned the corner Jeremy saw Evan, curled up on the back wall of the empty bathroom. Jeremy heard Evan’s muffled sobs.

“Evan!” Jeremy said running up next to him and kneeling down.

“I… I… I messed everything up… I’m sorry..”

Michael sat on the other side of Evan, “Ev, it’s okay, it’s not a big deal, it’s only a rehearsal.”

Jeremy nodded, “Yeah, bro, everyone makes mistakes. No one’s going to blame you.”

Jeremy could only hear a few of the things Evan said through his tears and panicked breathing, “No! It’s all my fault… everything… the orchard, the emails, Connor…”

“Evan that wasn’t your fault, you didn’t kill Connor,” Jeremy held his hand on Evan’s back, attempting a sort of hug. Jeremy wasn’t sure why Evan was bringing up those things, but he was going to try his best to help.

Suddenly someone ran in past the sinks. He reminded Jeremy of Michael, but whiter and with shorter hair, also instead of a hoodie the guy wore a button down short sleeve shirt over a t-shirt.

“Eva- wait who the fuck are you guys?” The guy stared from Michael to Jeremy.

Jeremy glared standing up, “I’m his brother.”

The guy looked genuinely shocked at this statement, “Brother? But Evan doesn’t have a brother?”

“Well he does now, his mom got married to my dad.”

“I-i didn’t… I didn’t know that…”

Jeremy continued his steely glare, “I’d like to know who you are, and why you’re here. As you can see he’s currently having a panic attack, and we’re trying to help him”

“My names Jared. Me and Evan, we’re… friends.”

Jeremy raised an eyebrow, “He’s never mentioned you before.”

“He didn’t?”

Jeremy shook his head, “Not once.”

“Well anyways, if you’re his brother who’s that,” Jared pointed at Michael, who was still working on comforting Evan.

“That’s my….” Jeremy wasn’t sure what to call Michael, his friend seemed technically correct, but he and Michael had known each other over 12 years they were… more than just friends, or even best friends, suddenly he blurted out, “Boyfriend.”

“Oh, um… good for you.”

Evan’s sobs and muttering seemed to increase as Michael glared up at Jared and Jeremy.

Jeremy glared at Jared once again, “Look I don’t know you, so if you’d leave that would be extremely helpful.”

“I’m his friend!? You don’t think I want to help?!” Jared glared right back.

“How am I supposed to know you’re telling the truth?”

“Why would I lie about being a panicking person’s friend?!”

“I don’t know, why would you?”

“I probably have more of a right to be with him right now than anyone!”

“WOULD YOU TWO STOP FIGHTING AND HELP!?” Michael shouted at them, obviously also panicking, “It doesn’t matter

“Right,” Jared and Jeremy spoke at the same time, sitting down next to Evan, who was still crying uncontrollably.

“Anyways what happened, when I walked into the rehearsal late, Evan was missing and Mr. Reyes was freaking out about the two main characters running off,” Jared asked Michael and Jeremy. Mainly Jeremy as Michael was currently taking Evan through some breathing techniques.

Jeremy sighed, “Wish I knew, we were doing one of the songs when Evan started forgetting his lines  and then just freaked out and ran off.”

“What song,” Jared asked, closing his eyes and sighing, as if he knew what was coming.

“Making Things Up Again,” Michael stated, his earphones now off, as he’d put them on Evan and started playing classical music for Evan to help him calm down/

Jared heaved another deep sigh, “Fuck… this is my fault. I… well, um, has Evan told you about Connor Murphy?”

“Yeah they were really close friends and then last year he committed suicide, right?” Jeremy repeated the story he’d heard from Evan.

“No,” Jared muttered, “That was the story we made up when Evan’s note was found on Connor.”

“Wait, what?” Jeremy was confused.

“Do you need me to explain it to you in more simple terms?”

“Exposition later!” Michael cut in once again, “Evan should be our priority right now!”

Evan had seemed to be calmed down, he at least wasn’t crying or muttering to himself anymore

“No it’s okay… Jared, you can tell them…” Evan sighed taking off the headphones and handing them back to Michael.

“You sure?”  All three of them spoke in unison.

Evan nodded, “It was gonna come out sometime, why not now…”

Jared looked concerned, “How much do you want me to tell them?”

“Everything,” Evan said, his cheeks were still red from crying, “The truth behind the Connor project, the emails, Zoe, our fight, all of it. Even… the truth behind how I actually broke my arm…”

“What do you mean the truth behind how you broke your arm? You just fell out of a tree, right?” Jared asked furrowing his eyebrows.

“I- I didn’t exactly fall… I let go…”

Evan seemed to stare sadly at a space in front of him, looking past Jared.

Jeremy didn’t quite get  what Evan meant by let go, then suddenly it dawned on him what ‘letting go’ entailed.

“Ev…” Michael whispered.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Both Jared and Jeremy spoke at the same time once again, then glared at each other.

“He should’ve at least told me,” Jeremy muttered angrily at Jared, “I am his stepbrother…”

“Guys. Please. Stop.” Michael sounded as if he was at his limit, “It’s really not the time to be fighting about who‘s closer to Evan, we all care about him, okay.”

For the second time in a row Jeremy and Jared looked like puppies who’d just been scolded for chewing on something  they shouldn’t have.

“Look I didn’t… I didn’t tell anyone,” Evan sighed, “Except for my mom, and that was after everything with Connor…”

“About that, I still don’t get what happened, so you and Connor were never friends?” Jeremy asked Evan.

Evan nodded solemnly, “Connor and I only met twice, the second time h-he was apologizing for, something… he did during our first meeting by… signing my cas, when he, uh, saw one of my notes that I write to myself. A few days later his parents… well they told me h-he’d committed suicide and they, well… they thought we were friends…”

Evan paused, tears welling up in his eyes.

“I’ll explain the rest,” Jared said calmly, noticing Evan was on the verge of tears again, “After Ev couldn’t tell the Murphy’s he wasn’t friends with Connor, they invited him to dinner where he told them he and Connor shared secret emails. I then suggested we make a fake email account and write them.”

Evan sighed and curled up tighter, his words were muffled but still understandable, “You guys probably hate me… I used someone’s suicide for my own benefit, and then lied about it… I’m probably the worst brother or friend ever…”

“Of course not,” Jeremy understood how Evan felt, he’d felt some if the same feelings after the SQUIP incident (as those involved officially called it), “Look, Evan… I didn’t tell you about it cause I didn’t want you to get hurt… but I also did something really, really stupid last year.”

“What do you mean,” Evan look up slightly, staring at Jeremy.

Jeremy closed his eyes, sighed, and opened them back up, “I bought this supercomputer pill that tells you how to be cool because I liked this girl, and it ended up making me leave my best friend and saying things I still regret,” Jeremy looked up at Michael, who had a look of half encouragement and half pain at remembering the Halloween party, “Also because of it I dated this random popular girl I didn’t even like that way, cheat on said girl, and it tried to take over the entire school. It was probably the biggest mistake of my life. But no one blamed me or hated me for it, at least after a little while.”

Evan’s expression was hard to read as he stared off, “They forgave you? After all of that?”

“I still don’t know why, I was a complete asshole, but the point is that they gave me a second shot. And I’m sure everyone will do the same for you.”

“Your brother’s right Ev,” Jared assured, “Sure you were being a dick, but,” Jared sighed, “So was I. I said some really dumb things to you, and probably hurt you a lot.”

“Jared, earlier… when you said you were my friend, did you mean it?” Evan asked, quietly, as if worried the words wouldn’t be true if he said them any louder.

“Yes, I did,” Jared nodded, “No more ‘family-friend’ bs, the two of us have been through so much together, I’d be proud to call you my friend Evan.”

Evan uncurled as he and Jared embraced in a hug, Jeremy jumped in, wrapping both his arms around Evan and Jared. Finally Michael joined the hug, his arms nearly wrapping around everyone. The four sat like that for what felt like ages. The heat of all of them combined in a comforting way. Sure they were all really messed up, but at least they had each other.

Suddenly Michael looked up, “Wait Jer, did you call me your boyfriend earlier?

The Down Side of Coming Out

summary: Mark makes a very sweet coming out video because he loves both Amy and Ethan with all his heart, but Ethan wasn’t out to his parents yet and some fans started to make comments about Amy ‘getting in the way’ of there otp

Type: angst, fluff

ships: Amy + Ethan + Mark

“so guys, what I’m trying to say, is that I love them. Both of them. And yes, I know that’s not how relationships are supposed to work but I can’t help it. I can’t help my sexuality and I can help who I fall in love with. Ethan, Amy if you’re watching this, I love you both with all my heart.” Mark wiped his tears off his face before ending the video and uploading it with out editing it.

He has wanted to to that for so long. He felt so free now. Like he was aloud to love and like his love was valid. Mark decided he wanted to spend the rest of the day with the two most amazing and beautiful people he knows. He walked out of his recording room and went to where Ethan and Amy where editing.

“Hey stars,” Mark smiled as he used one of names he called Amy and Ethan when they where together “I made the video.”

Both Amy and Ethan looked up at him. Amy was beaming, she was so happy she could start being public about there relationship. She has a file on her phone of pictures that she had been waiting to be able to post. Ethan on the other hand didn’t look as happy. Of course he gave Mark permission to make the video and post it, but he hadn’t told his parents and was honestly, a little scared. His parents had told him that he wasn’t aloud to be gay, so he didn’t think they would be very happy about him dating more than one person and one of them being a guy.

Ethan smiled anyway, pushing the feeling down and deciding to focus on the fact it was over and he had people who would love him even if his parents didn’t.

Mark had never felt happier. He was dating the most beautiful woman in the world and he was dating the most handsome man in the world. He was out and had seen a lot of support and had said beautiful and handsome people curled up to him on either side. Mark felt butterflies in his stomach from how happy he was. All three of them where slowly starting to drift off to sleep when Ethan’s phone went off.

*deep beep imma sheep, I said beep imma sheep*

Ethan’s annoying ring tone filled the quiet room waking everyone up.

Half asleep, Ethan grabbed his phone and picked up the call.

“hello?” Ethan suddenly bolted away from Mark and quickly stood. by the look on his face he was horrified. “H.. Hey Dad”

Amy and Mark looked at each other with concern. Ethan had told them his parents might not be happy but he didn’t really make I big deal out of it.

“please Dad… Ok but if you just listen to me… ok… yes sir… I understand… I’m sorry…”

After Ethan hung up his phone he looked down. There was sadness in his eyes, but only for a second as they where soon replaced by anger. Ethan through his phone across the room smashing it agenst a wall befor falling to his knees and sobbing.

With in seconds Amy and Mark where both by his side. Mark holding him and rubbing his back and Amy telling him to breath and helping him to calm down.

“Blue bird,” Mark spoke as softly as he could “what was that about?”

Ethan looked up at Mark before looking down and saying “My dad says I’m not his son anymore and they have no place for… for a freak in there family.”

Mark’s heart shattered. How could someone do that? How could someone be so cold and so heartless to someone as amazing as Ethan?

“I’m so sorry blueberry,” Amy spoke quietly “I promise you’re going to be okay. I know this is hard, I couldn’t begin to understand what it’s like, but where here for you okay?”

Ethan nodded before leaning into his lovers arms, feeling protected by them.

Ethan was fast asleep, sandwiched between Amy and Mark, who where both on there phones.

Amy had posted a picture of Ethan, Mark, and her all at the beach. Ethan was in cute light blue swim trunk and Mark was in bright red ones. Amy was in a beautiful yellow bikini that had little bits of green on it. They all looked happy.

Amy decided to look at the comments. She saw alot saying how cute they all where. She also saw alot saying it was wrong, which she ignored easily. Then she saw a bunch saying they felt bad for Amy, saying the was getting in the way and didn’t relise it. She looked over the comments like this but there where alot. There where also alot of replies saying it’s her life and that they where happy together. There where also replies agreeing with the comments.

Amy felt something inside start to hurt. Did they really not want her around? Was she getting in the way? Would they be happier with out her?

“Amy,” Mark’s voice pulled her from he thoughts “you okay babe?”

“Mark… Do, do you and Ethan like having me around or would you be happier with out me?” Amy asked sadly

“What? Of course we like having you around we love you! why?”

Amy felt tears falling and she quickly felt a need for her boyfriends to hug her “The comments on that picture I posted from the beach… there was a lot of people saying you’d both be happier with out me.

Mark reached over and wiped her tears away “it’s not true Amy. I love you and Ethan loves you, we’d both be way less happy if we didn’t have you. I promise.”

"Thank you” Amy smiled.

Mark waited for Amy to fall asleep before getting up, careful not to wake his loves. He quietly walked down the stares to his recording room and started a recording.

“Hey. So earlier today, I came out and um, since then, I… I’ve been shocked at everything that had happend. So… A few things have happend and I’m going to go over them and I need you guys to listed. I’d this is you, if you are doing any of this, It needs to stop. So, first of all, to Ethan’s family, Fuck. You. What gives you the right to treat Ethan like he’s nothing purely because of his sexual orientation. What gives you the right to tell a 20 year old, who isn’t even old enough to drink, who you promised to love and take care of no matter what, what gives you the right to take away everything he is? Why do you get to decide his punishment for being himself and why would you do something as drastic as to tell him he’s not family anymore? it doesn’t matter anymore. What matters is that you all know that Ethan is better than any of you will ever know. Weather he sees it or not he is perfect. Maybe perfect isn’t good enough for you, but that’s fine. If you don’t want him don’t think this will slow him down or hurt him because just because you left him doesn’t mean he’s alone.” Mark took a deep breath and wiped his tears.

“Now, the second thing that happend involves Amy. I love her just as much as I love Ethan, and for the most part this community has be great, but to those of you who feel the need to attack Amy and to tell her she isn’t loved or to tell her she’s holding Ethan and I back, is bull shit. Amy is one of the best people I know and I would, and so would Ethan, we would be do much worse with out her. I need you guys to stop. If you are spreading this bull shit stop. If you are posting the bull shit stop. If you see this bull shit, report it. please help me make this stop. I love Amy. I love Ethan. If you have a problem than instead of crying about it and trying to hurt us, grow a pair and leave this community. there’s no place for you here.”

Mark finished up the video than posted it again, without editing.

He as quietly as he could walked back to bed where he was greeted by his two lovers wide awake with tears in there eyes.

“What’s wrong?” Mark panicked

“you, you left the door open,” Ethan smiled wiping his tears “we heard what you said. we love you too”

Mark smiled before jumping on top of his stars. He loves calling them that, because as cheesy as it was, they are the light of his light.

welp, that’s the first fic on this account. I hope you guys liked it! If anyone has any ideas for future story or has any head canons they’d like to share feel free to send an ask or message me ♡

uselessvalshit  asked:

What it is the most ridiculous way our big brothes Akiteru, Saeko and Hinata would embarass they're little brothers?

Yong: I had to answer this. I love annoying my little brother and sister but the same thing happened with me and my older siblings when I was little.

Not so much as embarrassing but just being really damn annoying. When they’re at an amusement park together, Shouyou always asks the attendants if Natsu is tall enough to get on the ride, picking her up and yelling. She’s old enough for some things but he still buys her toddler toys as jokes and gives them to her in front of her friends like “hey I saw these building blocks on the way home, I think they’d be a bit hard for you but you can do it.” Natsu hits him a lot as a result.

To be fair, just being himself is enough of an embarrassment. Kei can just say “hey I got perfect scores on this test” but his brother makes a big deal out of it, just saying how proud of him he is. As Shimada’s said, “when is he not crying” - Akiteru has absolutely no chill in complete contrast to his brother. When he actually does try to embarrass Kei it pretty much just ends up as roasting like “wow remember when Tadashi was your only friend?” and he ends up sobbing because he feels bad.

This woman is an absolute savage. She’ll just roast her brother at the opportunities she can in front of his team (only in front of his team because they’re the only ones she can trust with roasting him as well). Ryu’s also victim to “hey I saw this cute girl at”- and it makes Ryu embarrassed pretty easily; she’s got pictures and numbers if he actually decides to hit them up too. Saeko isn’t an absolute monster, there’s some good in her teasing because she wants her bro to be happy with a nice girl or someone.

So... I watched yoi, then ended upon youtube binging on figure skating videos. Do you have advice on how to start following this amazing sport? Like, when are the first competitions coming up? Is there anything really important I should know (like, in a figure skating sub culture)?

Your timing couldn’t be more perfect! I have been thinking about doing an intro for new figure skating fans for a while… I know a ton of posts like this exist already, but one more doesn’t hurt, right?

Let’s do this! *rolls up sleeves*

(By the way, if any other skating fans spot any mistakes, please let me know so I can correct them.)

First of all, I advise you to follow the wonderful, sent-by-the-gods blog @soyouwanttowatchfs . As the name suggests, they share information on watching and following competitive figure skating, introductions to skating rules, schedules, streaming info, etc. I’m going to reference them a lot here!

The team is also super helpful and answer questions, though make sure that what you’re asking about isn’t already explained in their guides or FAQ. Right now, it’s smack in the middle of the competitive season and they tend to get a metric ton of asks.

There is also an affiliated blog, @soyouwanttolearnfs , for those looking to start skating yourselves — competitively or just for fun and exercise!

I’m not going to cover basic skating rules because YOI already does that, but if you’re curious about more details, there are always the handy intro guides linked above. I’m going to quickly talk about the other skating disciplines, the competitive season, how to watch competitions and how to dip your feet into the fandom. Also look out for the skaters in the funny gifs: they’re worth following closely!

Game Mode: Single-Player or Co-op?

There are four main competitive disciplines in figure skating:

  • Men’s singles: covered extensively in the anime.
  • Ladies’ singles: yes, ladies’, not women’s. Antiquated gender norms, I guess.
  • Pairs: two skaters (per ISU rules, specifically a man and a woman. Antiquated couple norms, I guess) performing together. Includes jumps in unison, lifts, throws, death spirals, and other elements that give me mini cardiac arrests.
  • Ice Dance: like pairs, but obligatorily dancing to the beat of the music and not the melody/words. Also does not include jumps, throws and death spirals (for which my heart is thankful).

There is also the always-forgotten synchronized skating. Think synchronized swimming, but the water is frozen and people wear knife-shoes. It’s not an Olympic discipline, but there are major ISU competitions for it.

*Awkward segue* …the much talked-about ISU is the International Skating Union, by the way. They make much of the rules. Expect to see a lot of people cursing them!

The McFreaking Competitive Season

Figure skating seasons take place around the northern hemisphere winter months (for obvious reasons), roughly from August to April. In terms of major competitions, the typical season looks like this (courtesy of this post):

  • Oct/Nov: the YOI-famous Grand Prix series (GP series), consisting of Skate America, Skate Canada, Rostelecom Cup, Trophée de France, Cup of China, and the NHK Trophy. They are invitational.
  • Early Dec: the Grand Prix Final (GPF), which caps off the GP series (and the first half of the season) by pitting the top 6 skaters/pairs of each discipline against each other.
  • Late Dec/Jan: the national championships (Nats) of each country, which is one of the top factors that determines which skaters will represent the country in international competitions. The ones that get the most attention are Japan, Russia, US and Canada.
  • Late Jan: the European Championships (Euros), consisting unsurprisingly of European skaters (including Russians).
  • Feb: the Four Continents Championships (4CC), consisting of skaters from, well, the remaining four continents.
  • March/early April: the World Championship (Worlds). Pretty self-explanatory. Also marks the end of the season.

Now, despite YOI making such a big deal of the GPF, it’s only the third most prestigious competition. The second is Worlds, and once every four years, the Winter Olympic Games take place and a general bloodbath ensues.

If you’re lucky enough to live in a country that actually gets some low temperatures (unlike me *ugly sobbing*), search around to see if there are local skaters and competitions you can follow. If you’re lucky, they might appear on local/national TV, and if you’re extra extra lucky, you could nab tickets to watch them in person!

So, when I say you arrived just in time, I mean that nationals have just ended, the European Championships are about to begin (25-29 Jan) (click for schedule + streaming info) and 4CC is on the horizon! We’ll be having a lot of fun over the next few weeks!

Midnight Phonecalls

“Hello?” You mumble into the phone.
“Yea it’s me.” He sounds so sad, and tired.
“What time is it?”
“Your time? Probably around five am. For me, it’s three.”
“Are you okay?” You ask sitting up and leaning against the headboard.
“Uh, yea.” He pauses and you hear him sigh. “Will you just talk to me?” He’s never told you what the nightmares are about but if you had to guess it was probably something to do with his job, specifically everything that happened with Haley and Jack.
“Jack and I went to the zoo today. He’s doing a project about Sting Rays so I called my friend Janet to see if we could get a tour. She let Jack feed them and he got to do an interview with her. He already put a thank you in the mail and she said he was a total delight. You would have been so proud. The puppy is getting fixed on Tuesday, which I feel bad because it’s going to hurt but we don’t want puppies. She didn’t have any accidents in her kennel today which was wonderful.” You shift and slip out of bed, heading for the balcony in your and Aaron’s room. “I miss you. I had a rough day at work, some of the kids are not thrilled about having to be inside so they were pretty hyper. I’m glad it was Friday.” This isn’t the first time you’ve done this for him. The air is cool but the night is clear and being in the suburbs allows you to see some of the stars, more than when you lived in DC.
“I should be home tomorrow.”
“That will be nice. You sound upset Aaron. Is everything okay?” He doesn’t say anything, you just hear his soft shaky breaths. “Just the nightmares?”
“Oh Aaron I’m so sorry.” You comfort, “I wish there was more I could do.”
“You’re helping so much more than you know.”
“Do you want me to keep talking?”
“If you don’t mind.”
“Not at all. I’m working on teaching Zig sit. She just gets so excited that she gets it right then immediately forgets what she’s done right.” You chuckle softly, adding Ziggy was not only a security thing but a wonderful source of stories for when Aaron has nightmares. “We’re going to keep working on it. Jack got an A on his science test but when he tells you pretend like you don’t know.”
“I’m glad he has you in his life. You’re so good to him.”
“I’m glad he’s in my life. I don’t know what I would have done without either of you.”
“Thank god I came upon the scene then huh.” He muses lightly but it still sort of freaks you out. What could have happened if Aaron hadn’t shown up when he did. The man dragging you into the alley, one hand over your mouth the other in your shirt. You’d tried to fight him off, had tried to scream but he’d told you he had a knife, when you kept fighting he’d sliced your arm with it. Aaron had seen enough, and his instincts had taken over, he’d come running into the alley gun up and looking pissed. He’d arrested the man, called for backup and held you as you’d sobbed into his shoulder. You’d never felt so dirty or helpless in your life. Thankfully the cops hadn’t victim blamed you, something that was horrifyingly common.
“Seriously. I still have nightmares about it.” You admit, he’s not the only one.
“I didn’t know that.”
“I know. I was lucky, all he did was cut my arm, it could have been so much worse. It’s nothing compared to what you deal with on a weekly basis so I didn’t want to make a big deal about it.”
“Sweetheart. I love you. If you’re scared, or you need to call me and have me talk to you until you can sleep please tell me.”
“When you’re home it’s fine. I just curl up next to you. When you’re not home I’ll grab a tshirt and sleep in that. But they’re rare.”
“Still. Don’t feel bad for calling.”
“I hope you don’t feel bad for calling.”
“I do. But I know that you’re the one thing that can calm me down, help me relax enough to sleep again.”
“Don’t ever feel bad. If you asked me to fly to wherever you were so you could sleep I would.”
“I know. It’s one of the many reasons I love you.” His voice sounds thick with sleep.
“Why don’t you go to sleep?”
“Will you stay on the line until I fall asleep?”
“Of course.” You curl up on the bed then talk to him about nothing. Five minutes later you hear a soft snore, and smile into the phone. “I love you Aaron Hotchner.” You whisper before you hang up and fall asleep.

Club Fight

Requested: Hi! I’m love your imagines! Could you do one where you and Shawn are at a club bc you just turned 21 your friends and his made a surprise party for you. then you go to the restroom and went you get out a large man approaches you, has a strong grip on you, tries to kiss you, furiously jumbles you like a puppet. You resist him &fight him as much as you can but he’s it’s no use. You start to lose your voice and Shawn looks around and sees you. A fight begins, you’re traumatized& healing begins

This night is everything you could have asked for and so much more. Your sweet boyfriend surprised you by inviting a bunch of your friends to come to the club with you tonight and you had no idea until you showed up. Since you just turned twenty-one, tonight really is a night to celebrate, and so far you have certainly been celebrating.

You’ve danced your heart out, but you’ve only had a couple drinks. You want to remember this night. “I’ll be right back,” You practically scream at Shawn. “I’m going to the restroom.”

“I’ll be here.” He replies, and you leave, heading off in the direction of the restroom. You do your business and then check your makeup and outfit in the mirror. As soon as you step outside, ready to search for Shawn and your friends, you’re approached by a large guy. He seems tipsy, but not drunk. “Hey baby,” He says. You’re the only one in this hallway so you know he’s talking to you. You try not to make eye contact, all you really want is to be able to get past him and back to your friends and your boyfriend. As you try to pass him, he reaches out, grabbing your arm. “I was talking to you.” He says.

You try to pry your arm out of his grip. “Don’t touch me!” You shout, doing your best to act like you aren’t afraid of him.

“I’ll do what I want.” Comes his gruff response.

Now you start really fighting him. Terrified, you try to get out of his grip, but he’s too strong for you. You don’t know what else to do but keep trying to fight him. This doesn’t exactly help, since it just causes him to fight back. In trying to gain control over you, he slams you into the wall. You hit your head hard and you don’t feel like you have the energy to fight anymore. Your head hurts so much, and you know your arm is going to bruise where he’s still got a grip on you. He starts to grope you, and you cry, not wanting this. You’re crying and screaming, but the music is playing so loud that no one can hear you. He starts dragging you away, further from the main area of the club and towards the end of the dark hallway. You’re completely terrified, but you see Shawn out of the corner of your eye. He runs up to you two and pulls the guy away from you. He punches him, and then punches him again and again, not stopping until the guy falls to the ground. And even then he kicks him. You’re just sitting on the ground in tears watching this unfold silently. A few seconds later, Shawn stops hurting the guy and comes over to you.

“Are you okay?” He asks, pulling you into his arms. You just shake your head in response. “We have to call the cops.” He takes his phone out of his pocket.

“Shawn, no. I don’t want to make this a big deal. Can you just take me home? Please.” You say through your tears.

“He assaulted you! He can’t just get away with it.” He tells you, fuming, and trying to get you to understand.

You only cry harder, “Shawn. I just want to go home.” You choke out between sobs. “Please, just take me home.” He reaches out for you, and you involuntarily shy away from his touch. You know that he would never hurt you, but you’ve just been through so much in only the past ten minutes. He pulls you close to him, for a second, knowing you really need to be held. After a brief hug, he lets you go and leaves his arm around your shoulder. He shields you from the many people dancing and drinking and leads you outside. He gets an uber and you are both safely in the backseat of a car a few minutes later. He texts your friends letting them know you decided to head home early. Shawn takes you back to his place. You’re still crying softly. You cried the whole way home and you wouldn’t stop no matter how much Shawn tried to comfort you and reassure you that you were okay.

He wanted to take you to the hospital for your head, but you refused. All you wanted to do was wash off any memory of that man who hurt you physically and emotionally. Shawn seemed to understand. As soon as you got home, you jumped in the shower. You stayed in the shower, under the scorching hot water for probably over an hour. Shawn would periodically knock on the door and call out to you asking if you were okay or if you needed anything.

Finally, you felt like it was time to get out. When you open the door, dressed in underwear and one of Shawn’s t-shirts, you see your boyfriend sitting in the hallway, his back against the wall, just waiting for you. He stands up when the door opens. “How are you feeling?” He asks.

“My head hurts,” You reply because focusing on the physical pain is easier than allowing yourself to feel the emotional pain.

“Do you want to lay down? And I’ll go downstairs and make you some tea and get you some advil for your head.” He says.

“Can I come with you?”

“Yeah, of course.” He replies, knowing you don’t want to be alone. He takes your hand, lacing his fingers through yours, and you two head downstairs where he makes you tea and gives you a pill to take for the pain in your head. Afterwards, you both end up in his bed where he holds you close and whispers comforting words to you until you fall asleep.
