i might make some more with different colors

Humans are Weird

As you might’ve noticed, I jumped BIG into the Humans are weird/humans are space orcs tumblr posts. Here’s one I haven’t stumbled upon (though I’m sure it exists already) but fashion. Not even high fashion like Paris but just how general cliques dress and how common make up is.

A color shifting species might see a human apply make up to themselves and think it cute and endearing the human wants to be able to change their colors in certain areas. More interesting it’s noted that some humans do the same makeup everyday (eyeliner + gloss), while others use many different colors and patterns and products (eyeliner, bronzer, blush, highlighter, eyebrows, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick, etc).

Along with makeup, humans seem to only clothe themselves in certain styles. Now these styles vary wildly between different humans and specialty stores pop up centering around these preferences. It is rare to see a “punk” human enter a “preppy” store. Many humans become offended at the question of why they are so strongly tied to their chosen styles, no explanation given other than that the other styles are not desirable by said human.

Please Watch “Orange”

Ok everyone. I’m sure some of you have probably heard of this anime, and those people who have heard of it have probably strayed away from it for the same reasons I did.

I am a huge fan of romance anime. I’m basically addicted to anything involving love, but I was weary of this show, called “Orange,” because (1) you learn from within the first few minutes of the first episode that the love interest is going to die, (2) it looks really cliché, (3) it is not very popular, and (4) it looks sad.

I was wrong. So very wrong.

(1) Yes, the anime has its bleak, raw moments, but those moments were the ones that I never had anticipated that I would appreciate the most. Something that definitely became an admirable point of the anime was its very real, non-sugar-coated portrayal of depression, mental illness, suicide, and grief. This series does what most shojou romance series shy away from and actually shows the audience what depression is like through Kakeru, the fated-to-die protagonist, and the seriousness of suicide.

As someone who has personally battled with clinical depression for years and has been to therapy and counselling, this anime hit home for me. The faking smiles, pretending everything is okay, the self-loathing, thinking you are at fault, thinking you are a burden to others, denying yourself happiness, not allowing yourself forgiveness, and the thoughts of death; they are all things that I could relate to. They even included how you can still experience moments of true happiness even if you are depressed, but how it never really goes away. Sure, this anime might not be as light-hearted as others, but it’s the heart-rending instances in this show that give it so much impact and substance.

(2) This anime does have some clichés (i.e. cultural festival, giving chocolates on Valentines Day, new kid at school sits next to the main character), but the plot completely colors these events in ways that make them so much more meaningful and different than you have ever seen them. One of my main concerns going into this show was that I would be bored, but I ended up watching it all in one sitting simply because of how much I needed to know what would happen. Additionally, the secondary characters are wonderfully fleshed out and are actually important to the plot, instead of feeling like accessories.

(3) I know this anime was based off of a manga (which I had once picked up on a whim, but put down once I saw how sad it was probably going to be), but I have never heard people talk about it, like ever. Even when the show came out (which it did recently), there was no buzz about it. Although the lack of chatter surrounding Orange only made me more pessimistic regarding the quality of the show, if there is anything I have learned from watching hundreds of anime, it is that sometimes good shows can fly beneath the radar. I am glad I decided to pick it up after it’s completion and give it a chance, because I just found a series that has easily earned a spot on my top 10 list.

(4) Is this anime sad? Yes. Is it too sad to watch? No. The biggest obstacle that stood in my way for this show was the fact that it pretty much promised from the get-go to be sad. “But love is supposed to be happy and have a happy ending,” you might say, “so how can that be possible when one of the protagonists is destined to commit suicide.” I don’t want to spoil it, so all I can tell you is that I was very pleased with the conclusion and it ends much differently than you are lead to believe it will. Trust me guys. My heart is made of glass. I would not recommend this show to anyone if I didn’t think the denouement was really good

So, in conclusion, set aside a few hours one day and let this series show you its magic!

Investing in yourself as a Sugar Baby!

Taking care of your mind and body is important especially when you expect men to drop thousands of dollars on you every month for the pleasure of your company! Personally before even thinking about becoming a sugar baby this year, I’ve been taking care of myself for years because appearance is very important in my line of work. Keep in mind that I’m in my late 20s so some stuff you might not even need at this point since most of you are in your late teens or early 20s. Enjoy those years haha well I can’t complain, I have a baby face ;) So here is a list of things I’ve done or I will be starting this year that keeps me looking good and feeling awesome plus it makes for a hot SB:

  1. Manicure + pedicure - I do them professionally in a salon every 3weeks.
  2. Laser hair removal - I’m doing my whole bikini and underarms right now and will start my legs in the next year..shaving is a pain and too much work..laser is painful especially the whole bikini but worth it!
  3. Removing stretch marks - I will do laser for that when I move to LA because those stupid marks on my butt are a pain in the ass for my confidence sometimes..I have awesome 34DD natural breasts but my ass needs some perfecting to be at the same level lol
  4. Removing cellulite - I just finished a 10 weeks treatment with the Velashape 2 in a beauty clinic for my thighs and butt..I think it helped although I only had a low amount of cellulite and it’s still not perfect or all gone..I think I was expecting too much of a VS model’s perfect ass haha drinking water, exercising and eating healthy plus putting firming body cream (I use an expensive one from my clinic with 10% caffeine) everyday helps plus I’ll need to do maintenance treatments every year to maintain the results.
  5. Removing spider veins on legs - I started treatments this year, it helps but spider veins are a recurring issue for women especially with age so I will have to do maintenance treatments every year but it’s very good that I started young even if I didn’t have a lot but the ones behind my knees were bothering me a lot. I have very white skin so my veins show easily haha I need to tan more!
  6. Dermabrasion - I started dermabrasion aka removing dead skin on your face this year..I used to have bad acnee when I was young but now my skin is much better although I still get occasional pimples and don’t have perfect skin without makeup.
  7. Acnee creams recommended by my dermatologist that I apply every day or 2 days - I mostly only have some redness and occasional pimples but the products help for that and to make my pores less visible.
  8. Laser eye surgery - I wear contacts and I’m thinking of doing the laser surgery but I’m not sure since lots of people have horror stories so I’m still thinking about it but being free of glasses and contacts would be awesome..I’m just scared of surgeries and try to avoid them as much as possible.
  9. Spray Tan - I don’t want skin cancer so I prefer spray tan when I need to have a nice tan although the maintenance is a pain in the butt..I sometimes do tanning creams at home since I’m pretty good at applying it but that’s annoying to maintain also.
  10. Gym membership - I started going to the gym finally this year although I have always had a pretty athletic body but since I like to eat wtv I want and I’m getting older lol I need to watch out!!
  11. Personal trainer for the gym - I’m going to get one soon so I can learn what to do to target the issues I want to work on plus it’s good to have someone to motivate you since I’m lazy lol
  12. Martial arts or self defense classes - Personally I do martial arts because it’s for my line of work but also because I love to kick ass. I took some self defense classes years ago and it was amazing..I think every woman should do that especially sex workers and SBs..I actually need to brush up on those moves especially the ones when your assailant is on top of you.
  13. Hair and eyelash extensions - I need to get new hair extensions because the hair dresser messed them up when she cut them although I basically never wear them lol too lazy to put them on every time so I’ll look into other options soon and get a SD to pay for it and for eyelash extensions. Never tried that and want to see how it will look and feel.
  14. Makeup and hair tutorials or classes - I started watching more videos on youtube to learn more tricks especially with hair since I suck but I’m getting a lot better..I might get a future SD to pay a hairstylist to show me 5-10 ways to do my hair haha.
  15. Good hair products and makeup - Start investing in good products that don’t ruin your hair and face..When you can it’s good to invest in more expensive products when they are better quality and less chemicals.
  16. Keeping your body soft like a baby’s skin - I put cream every night on my body to keep my body all smooth and soft plus to keep my boobs, stomach, thighs and ass all firm..better to start young!
  17. Facial creams - Very important to keep your face moisturized plus eye cream is always good to start young..those SDs want a baby face not a face ruined by sun and age.
  18. Drinking lots of water - You need minimum 2 liters of water everyday..I basically only drink water..no coffee or soft drinks but juices on occasion and I do love wine when I go out.
  19. Eating healthy - I need to be more disciplined for that because I like to eat wtv I want although I do eat vegetables and fruits everyday.
  20. Be happy and confident - Keep yourself healthy mentally..those men pay for no drama..I actually tried hypnotherapy by curiosity this year..only did 4 sessions to work on my self-esteem and confidence and it was pretty interesting to realize how I bring myself down sometimes.
  21. Teeth are very important! Having a nice smile attracts people including SDs! - Keep your teeth clean and white..I do my teeth cleaning every 9 months now (instead of 12) plus I bought a whitening kit made for me from my dentist to use at home although my teeth are pretty white already. I had braces when I was young so I have perfect teeth..I wear my night retainer occasionally to keep them straight and perfect.
  22. Massages and acupuncture - I did both this year and need to start doing massages every 2 weeks for my back lol I’ll get a SD to pay for that!
  23. Investing in a new wardrobe - Dressing the part is important and you need something to wear for all those awesome dates you will be going on! Get a SD or POT to take you shopping and choose classic pieces that you will be able to mix and match and pull off multiple outfits with. If you don’t have anyone to pay for it, take some of your money and start buying some nice pieces or even just adding an accessory to your outfit might make the difference. You don’t have to buy expensive brands (wait for a SD to do that for you), until then buy pieces that are good quality and in solid neutral colors. Go for classy not trashy!
  24. Reading more about current events, finances and how to invest money but also some of those self help books. Be aware of what is going on in the world. - I need to start doing this more because I personally don’t follow the news or politics (too depressing) plus I want to learn how to manage my money. It’s always good to be able to hold a conversation with a SD especially if you go to events with him! You want to be the whole package of looks, brains and personality!!
  25. Learning new skills is important in my opinion plus it keeps you busy and SDs will be impressed by your hobbies, interests and skills. - Personally I love reading, cooking (I want to take some classes to get even better), dancing (I took a lot of different dance classes but I want to learn the waltz and other more conservative dances for black tie events), learning new languages (I speak multiple languages and it always impresses people especially in the US for some reason), etc.. With my line of work, I like to acquire new skills as often as I can so I can add them to my CV and stand out..plus it’s fun!

Ok so I’m going to stop here because this post is freaking long lol I’ll add more if I think about something else but just remember that you are selling a product which is yourself and you need to stand out! Being a SB is not just about looking pretty..you have to be interesting too! I see a lot of SD’s profiles that mention personality and not just looks. So take care of yourself mentally and physically :) You got to invest in yourself (the product) to make money..that’s how marketing and business work and it’s the same with sugar dating! Pay your bills and then use some of that allowance on bettering yourself to catch an even bigger fish (or whale lol)!! Go get them girls! xoxo

I’ve had some people ask me for psds I used, but since I almost never save them, I made a bunch of psds to show how I color my scenes. I think you can use most of these on different scenes, if you adjust them accordingly.

please like or reblog this post, then send me an ask off anon asking for the psd you want (example: hey! i liked/reblogged your post and I would like the link for the amaya psd).

Under the cut you’ll find more info about the psds and how to adjust them!

Some rough designs for Rarity and Twilight in the Guardian!AU. I took the elements I started with for Twi’s suit and refined it some more to make it look a little different than what it originally was; I kinda like the direction it’s going in. I might tweak it some more in the future though. o3o as for Rarity, I actually gave her three different outfits based on 1950s-1960s clothing before settling with this one; something reminiscent of her EQ outfit but with that 1960s flair I think.

As mentioned, Twilight is of the Alpha Guardian series but she is more unique than the rest in that she’s actually smaller than a typical Alpha and has a unique color-scheme that related to her original colors before grafting; typical Alphas are usually browns and blacks with white canvas wings. I’ll add to this a little later but for now, I hope you enjoy the artwork! Feel free to ask anything if you have any questions. c:

Can you help me with some coordination? I'm not sure how to send you an image file so I'll try to just describe the kimono. It's a pale pink houmongi with large purple areas and cream and gold flowers. Any advice on what color obi and obiage to pair with it? I was thinking a gold obiage but I'm not sure what obi to do with that and gold obiage are kind of hard to find. Unfortunately there don't seem to be any other small detail colors that I can pull from the pattern either.

Hello! Thanks for the question.

The further questions on my end are:

- How ‘old’ do you want your coordination to look? Like an adult, formal, married woman? Like a young woman but not formal enough for furisode? Like you’re going to tea ceremony? Like you’re going to a museum or fun event?

- What season are you dressing for? This may be less important if you have a limited amount of pieces.

Basically, remember The more contrast, the younger and more festive. The less contrast, the older. A bunch of pastels, subdued colors and low contrast is appropriate for tea ceremony (where you don’t want to take attention away from the tea), but may be too “jimi” (plain, old ladyish) for a young lady going out to a museum or cafe.

Note how these older ladies dress.

High contrast in patterns and bright solids will give your coordination a fun retro feel, like these younger ladies going out to enjoy the day.

(Examples from Pinamama’s Blog)

If you are going for a higher level of formality with the houmongi, you may need an obi with some gold in it. Houmongi are generally used as a formal kimono just under a furisode, and the obi can be tied in fancy ways to raise the formality. Whether you want a very formal obi that’s traditionally paired with a houmongi like this one,

Or go with a simple Taiko knot with a shiny obi, you have a few options.

You can dress as the example above, with very little contrast, or you can add more color and punch with brighter contrast and bringing in different colors

A general rule of thumb is to pair geometric-patterned obi with organic floral kimono, and vice-versa. The subtle pattern contrast draws the eye toward the obi and makes all the patterns pop.

To get back to your original question, with very light pink and lavender, I might actually try an obiage in a color that’s a deeper shade or saturation of what’s in the kimono, or some color that bridges the obi and kimono– a dark pink, a blue, maybe even a spring green. And I am a fan of obijime that have high contrast against the obi, such as the example above. If you can send me a link on imgur, or even reblog this post with an image, I can try to give further suggestions.

do you have any tutorials on how to best color gifs?

the ones i listed here do a pretty good job in my opinion, but since this is the second time someone’s asked me about coloring i might as well make one!

disclaimer: this tutorial may be terribly incoherent. also there’s a TON of ways to color gifs and my way changes almost every time so this is only 1 out of 10000000000000000 of the ways you can color! i might color another video differently, but i’ve tried to stick to my fundamental steps. it’s mostly about fiddling with all the options until you get something you like hehe.

there’s a LOT of images in this so beware.

  • i use cs5 :) you can download it here
  • please like/reblog if this helped you out!
  • follow the read more for the tutorial

Can i ask how you colored this or what psd you used /post/158237711172/make-me-choose-maddieoblique-asked-a-stele-or

I always use my own psds and i kinda colored each gif separately because each scene is very different and i didn’t save any of the psds because photoshop crashed :(

but how i color is pretty basic: i always start with some curves or brightness, then i add a selective color layer and i change the blacks, increasing black to +4 or +5 and then i add some saturation (helpful if you’re coloring poc to avoid whitewashing). Then I just play with selective color, color balance and curves and i usually finish with some levels (making it darker).

i remade two gifs (they don’t look exactly the same) and i uploaded the psds.

Throughout my entire university life, I had to give a fair amount of oral presentations, in three different languages. It got to the point where sometimes, I had three of them scheduled in the same week. I’ve managed to identify a few recurring issues and come up with tips to prevent them.

DISCLAIMER: obviously this post is based on my personal experience with oral presentations. What works for me might not work for everyone and some struggle with deeper anxiety than others. Feel free to add your own tips to this post! 😊

Preparation & time management

  • If you have the chance to choose the topic of your presentation, take advantage of it and pick a subject that you like/are interested in! Working on your presentation will be more enjoyable, and you may feel more confident talking about something you’re interested in.
  • As for anything, time management is crucial. Not being prepared and poor time management will only add more stress that could’ve been avoided. Give yourself enough time to research on your topic, but also to practice your presentation.
  • Being a language student, during my BA I’ve noticed that whenever we had a presentation in one of our target languages, a lot of my classmates would first do their presentation in their native language, and then translate it into their target one. THIS. IS. A. TRAP. I’ve fallen for it, only to find out that it’s a waste of time and I was more likely to make grammar mistakes. Work directly in your target language, try to use resources in it, this way you will build vocabulary on the topic. You will be more prepared!
  • Practice your presentation in front of a mirror or with friends, and ask them for feedback (body language, etc.). When I’m being given little time to present something, I use a timer when I practice to see if my presentation isn’t too long.

  • I’m not sure how it’s done at other schools/universities, but I’ve always been required to prepare a slideshow with me. Use PowerPoint (duh), Preezi (if you’re feeling fancy), etc.
  • Try to avoid putting too much information on your slideshow, write the main points, use keywords and bullet points. This way, your PowerPoint will be more readable and your audience won’t be tempted to read your slides instead of listening to you.
  • Spice it up! If you can and if it is relevant to your topic, why not using videos, images or graphs in your presentation? This will get your audience’s attention. Be careful not to let visual aid be too present, this is only an aid.
  • When you’re finished with your slideshow, go over it and ask yourself if it’s readable in terms of colors, font size, etc. You can ask someone else for their opinion.

  • If possible, avoid writing down everything you’re going to say. You will be tempted to read your speech, and loose your audience’s attention. Just like on your slides, use bullet points. If you’re struggling with some parts of your presentation, write those sentences down as a safety blanket.
  • Use a color coding system! I would write down dates, names, important information and points in different colors to remember them.

Presentation day

  • Dress for success! Dress comfortably and appropriately, you will feel more confident if you feel comfortable in your clothes. If you have long hair, try to get it out of your face, people will hear you better.
  • If possible, eat a few hours before your presentation instead of right before it. I guess this will avoid awkward stomach noises that might make you feel embarrassed?
  • Drink water before speaking! You can also bring your water with you.
  • Make eye contact! I know this is difficult, but it is very important to maintain eye contact with your audience while speaking. If you’re struggling with this, you can spot some friendly faces in the audience or do this old trick: look at people’s forehead! Chances are, your classmates are as terrified as you. You can also ask your friends to let you know in a discreet way when you’re speaking to fast.
  • Don’t forget to breathe and take your time. I noticed that when I don’t breathe and speak too fast because of the stress, it makes my voice sound high pitched and awkward, which adds even more stress. Breathe with your diaphragm, your voice will sound better.

  • If you’re really struggling with public speaking anxiety, talk to your teachers about it, maybe they can reassure you or give you some tips. If you’re not too sure about what they expect out of the presentation, ask them as soon as possible. Talking to a counselor could be useful as well, also for anxiety in general.
  • It’s okay to mess up! Once I had to memorize an entire plea that I wrote and recite it for five minutes with appropriate gestures and tone not only in front of the class, but also the teacher who was recording in order to analyze my speech and body language. When I walked in, I spaced out and completely forgot what I was supposed to say! The teacher let me start again and I got a pretty good grade in the end.
  • If you’re feeling like stepping out of your comfort zone, do it. In 2015 I decided to work as a foreign language assistant in a middle school/high school in Austria. The idea of speaking in front of teenagers was terrifying at first, but it definitely helped me gaining so much self confidence and you know what? The students were actually more intimidated than me! 😊

Voilà! Hopefully these tips will help you with stress while giving presentation. To be honest I personally managed how to deal with public speaking anxiety with time and experience, I just grew so accustomed to them that I know what to do and not do. Feel free to contribute to this post!

Adrinette Month Day Three

Miraculous Switched? I uh… they swapped a little further than expected. Like, literally the miraculous of their enemies by the end of Season One. I changed a bit of their designs - more flared out tailcoats for Adrien and a slightly different coloration and points for Marinette. Also, the fur around the neck to obscure her miraculous much like how some wild animals will have thicker fur around their neck to protect it from attackers. Hm… Hawkmoth!Adrien might need a cravat… though, I need to stop myself from making him Victorian instead of something more modern. Maybe not slick back hair in the future… hmm…

Reyes Vidal: skin tone palette

I’ve been seeing some art of Reyes that just pales in comparison to the guy himself, so I made a palette for Reyes’ skin tone to get you started.

Writing with Color has a great post to help with describing skin tones, and while it might be aimed more towards writers, there are some really good visual aids - it’s also an excellent resource for artists wanting to draw a fictional character they have a written description of but nothing visual to go on. There’s honestly a ton of good stuff here, and I’d really encourage you to follow this blog, even if you’re not a writer!

I get that selecting the right tones can sometimes be tricky and sometimes different lighting can make things even trickier - but if you look at the swatches above, you’ll notice that even the lighter tones are a kind of tawny orange-brown. It’s really important that we look critically, both at our own work and the works of other artists, and try to get it right.

(aside from the fact that logan looks less like logan and more like me cosplaying him…)

(and forgiving my art style for being so consistently inconsistent that just zooming in on a character makes him look totally different…)

(and acknowledging the fact that the difference in hair color is based on my headcanons for what they’d look like as individual people…)

I illustrated one of my favorite moments in one of my favorite @thatsthat24 Sanders Sides videos (well i mean they’re all my favorite, but.)

I might make it into a video, using the audio from the original. It’s almost not the same without the background music, heh.

The Stitches kitty has come to life! (But I used a new color palette, gave his eyes a more button-y look and named him Motley.) Sure, it’s not the most original of my creations, and he might not make quite the same impact as my patchwork puppy Scraps, but he’s a little cutie all the same. I’ve actually been having a lot of fun recoloring this model and playing with different fabric patterns using this design as a base, so I’m sure I’ll be posting some new variations on this cat plush very soon.

how can I study smarter for an important exam I have tomorrow about four subject? It's about all we have done in this year... sorry if I bother it's just that I need some tips... thank you if you answer 🌌

Heyy there, lovely anon!

And no, you didn`t bother me, sweetie <3

1. Break the info down into smaller parts! Don`t be very hard on yourself. Divide the whole info into smaller pieces. Take a break every time you`ve finished another part of studying, it will help your brain unwind and get some needed rest ~

Also, you might use a special reminder or timer to remind you about the break, so you won`t overload your mind  (check out Pomodoro or some other app for it!).

2. Plan it out! It also might be useful to make yourself a to-do list with all the stuff you need to learn and tick each of them when you`re done. It actually makes you feel more organized and productive.

3. Learn the most important things! Sometimes it might seem like you need to memorise literally everything, but the truth is - nope, you don`t. Highlight the most important stuff and don`t try to fit the whole thing in your head! You might also make flash cards with terms and primary, short definitions of them - it actually helped me in my exam prep!

You can make your own flash cards here, as an option.

4. As I`ve already said, highliters are your friends. Use different colors for highliting some parts of your conspects. Make a colour-coding key, but don`t color in too much.

This pin is a good example.

5. Mind maps! They are actually veeery useful. Luckily, there is a lot of tips on how to make helpful mind maps in studyblr community, and they`re pretty easy to make.

Check this one as a good explanation ~

6. Speak your notes out loud! Your brain will memorise it better if you repeat the info out loud (honestly, it helps).

7. Another one of the useful techniques is to make it a song! Yeah, it might seem silly, but it actually can help with studying difficult or boring topics.

8. Eat well! A very common tip, I know, but it is truly important. Foods high in vegetables and low in sugar increase concentration.

9. Exercising also significantly helps you concentrate and refreshes the mind!

Aand I think that`s kinda it! I honestly hope at least some of these tips will help, and I wish you the best of luck on the exam! You`ll nail it, definetly <3

Another exam prep tips, ones of my favorites on Pinterest:

- study successfully

- another bunch of great tips

- productivity!

Again, good luck, honey xx

alrighty bitey this one is for my one my only @billyweird who listed a bunch of fox digimon for her favorites and i wasn’t surprised one bit! i love her

this is also my first time drawing reppamon and let me tell you, sometimes i wonder about who designed these things. it’s a great design but drawing it 24/7, i guess i just have to draw reppamon more to truly understand

and before anyone asks–although i might get asked anyways–i’m not taking requests on these juuust yet, the last 2 digimon i’ve done were for other folks and i might still tag some peeps due to the fact that they are close friends and i decided to do them. whenever i feel ready, or whenever digital illustrations for this IWRY chapter are finished–whichever comes first–i’ll make a big mclargehuge announcement i guess.

gotta love them screen color differences from device to device huh!

Top Tips for Studying in College

So the time has come again where classes are back in session
and study habits need to begin now,
not a week before finals.
There are a few things I do that I think could be helpful to some others out there.
If you like this check out the sequel!

I’m not kidding when I say my life is color coded.
In your planner,
I recommend that you use a different color pen for each activity in your life.
So as an example, for me…

Red: Chemistry
Pink: Chemistry Lab
Green: Biology
Light Green: Biology Lab
Blue: Math
Purple: Sorority

Of course you can do this however you want,
but when I look at my planner and I need to know what’s due or what’s going on Friday,
I know just by looking at colors.

I also color code my notebooks.
I use different colors to represent different types of information in my notes.
This makes studying a lot easier for me,
and I am more likely to want to have my notebook out,
because the colors break up the information instead of just pages of one color.
My system for these colors is…

Red: Vocab word
Purple: Vocab definition
Black: Major Topics
Green: Figures and examples
Pink: Review or questions
Blue: Other notes

By breaking this up,
when I look at my notebooks and I just want to study vocab,
I can just look for red.
This has been huge help for me over the years.

I have a 5 subject notebook that I bring to class with me.
This is where I take my notes in class.
In class I use shorthand
and write fast to keep up with my professor.
I can then after class look at the power points again and see where I need to fill in.
Some shorthand I find useful is as follows…

b/c: Because
&: And
Info: Information
Comtion: Communication
w/: With
W/o: Without
W/i: Within
fin: Finally
#: I use numbers whenever I can
elem: Elements
^: Increase
H, O, C, Cl: I use the periodic symbols in Chemistry notes a lot
ex: example

There are plenty more you probably use and I use,
but those are just the ones on the top of my head.

I bring the big notebook to class with me where I write in shorthand for 50 mins and most of the time my hand is just moving and my brain isn’t comprehending.
After class,
I pull up the powerpoint on my laptop and take my in class notes out.
First I go through and see if I need to fill anything else in,
then I highlight them with the colors I listed above based on definitions, figures, etc.

Then I rewrite my notes,
in full sentences and in english,
no shorthand.
I do so neatly and with all my colors in a new notebook to make the information make sense to me.
Sometimes I cut things out because I wrote it a few different times,
or a condense different parts into one to explain something.
This is where you revise your notes.
This is a huge part in helping you study.
Without this step,
your notes would still be jumbled up when you try to study.

All my professors tell me I need to be studying and working on the content everyday.
Science classes are usually recommended for 3 hours outside of class for every hour in class.
For me, that’s 9 hours a week,
and I’m in 2 sciences.

When I rewrite my notes,
that is studying.
Set a timer and just see how long it takes to highlight, revise and rewrite your notes.
That’s a good chunk.
Next is reading the chapter for next class,
how long does that take?
Then if you need to,
make notecards,
go over them.
The hours add up very quickly.
I like to write the time down on a post it and keep it for the week and see where I was.
Maybe I’m over and maybe I’m under.

This is the last thing I do,
after I write out my notes in colors in the separate notebook,
I go through and think of test questions that could be based on the information I wrote down.
I type these up on a word doc.
I personally just type the question,
not listing possible answers.
Maybe I’ll get 3 or 4 questions from one lecture,
maybe I’ll get 10-12.
It doesn’t matter.
But by doing this you are making a study guide for the test you’ll be taking later on.
This time typing out questions also counts for time for studying for each class.

*Each class and each school and each person are completely different in the way they are set up.
I know for me, some of my classes,
like math,
don’t have rewritten notes or color coded systems.
But some do.
I hope these few tips might help you study and review in a more efficient manner.
Let me know some of your study tips in the comments.
I’d love to hear them.

New stuff to come

For one, I’d love to revive my #inspiration tag again because I often get asked what inspires me and sometimes cool things pop up on my dashboard that need to be seen by more people.

And secondly, some months ago I got into making tiny looped 2-3 second animations that I’d love to post here.

Just a quick heads-up for people with photosensitive epilepsy or similar issues: Some gifs might include bright and flashing colors. I’ll try to make things not too extreme but just to be save I’ll be tagging my gifs with #gif warning and tw: epilepsy. Feel free to shoot me a message if you need a different tag.

idk How do you guys feel about this? If this blog gets to cluttered up I could make a seperate blog just for gifs.
