i might climax from all this

THOUGHTS ON YURI!!! ON ICE EPISODE 8
*** long post ahead

I couldn’t say I had a feeling this might happen, but if I were to put it into words, I’d say all these past 7 episodes, YOI has been…… Too peaceful, I suppose.

Not that I’m complaining, but all stories got to have a huge problem at some point - from which it would then lead us to the climax and the long-awaited resolution.

Yes, we have Yurio suddenly coming to Hasetsu and might “take Viktor away” if Yuuri just lost that Onsen on Ice.

Yes, we have that that carpark scene and Yuuri breaking down crying in Episode 7.

But none of those events are actual “crisis”. Well, in Episode 7 it almost became a crisis, yet thankfully it was solved right away.

I’m sure I’m not the only one here who have been thinking “Just what kind of trouble will show up in this show?

Before this episode came out, my best bets were:

  1. Viktor and Yuuri might have an argument and/or fighting at some point
  2. Yuuri somehow messing up in Rostelecom Cup short program

I mean, they were cliches I came up with based on experience, based on stories I’ve read/watched so far. And honestly, it’s not impossible for those to happen.

I have never been so wrong in my life.

A Fable

I was at a classical music concert the other night with my friends. They were playing a piece by this modern composer that I’d never heard before, but some people had said it was good, so I thought we might as well check it out.

It was amazing. From the very first note, I was hooked. Themes rising up only to merge in euphony, violins and flutes playing separate melodies that somehow complemented each other perfectly. The piece was incredibly technically difficult, but the musicians hit every note right; and as the piece went on, it became increasingly beautiful and emotional. The poignant tragedy of the second movement’s climax had us all in tears.

The piece was pretty long, so there was an intermission after the third movement. In the lobby, my friends and I gushed over the genius of the composers and the musicians. Just for fun, we tried to guess how the piece would climax. Luckily, some of my friends were pretty talented–musicians all, one a concert pianist, another a budding composer–and we’d noticed a recurring motif in the violin and piano parts.

It was a beautiful theme, and it kept coming back in unexpected ways: the harmony played by the oboes in the second movement, the rhythm of the timpani in the third movement. In fact, the theme had been played quietly by almost every instrument, except the always-loud trumpets. We guessed that the climax would be the trumpets sounding out this theme with all the power their instruments provided, soaring over the orchestra to create a magnificent climax.

The fourth movement started OK, but it quickly regained the power of the previous movements. That motif was coming up more and more, louder every time. We looked at each other in excitement. We could practically see the trumpets inhaling before completing the climax–

–and they squawked.

There’s no other word for it. Instead of playing the beautiful motif for all to hear, they played some jumbled sequence of notes. All the buildup of the previous three movements seemed to be for nothing. The orchestra descended into chaotic cacophony. I covered my ears. The audience began to murmur. Was this some kind of trick?

It wasn’t. The conductor turned around, beaming, but half the audience had already left. Appalled, my friends and I filed out into the lobby. What a beautiful beginning, and what an awful end.

And that’s basically what happened to BBC Sherlock.

Listen up homestucks

I’m going insane
I was browsing through the omegapause and omegapausestuck and I am GOING INSANE
ok what is wrong with you all
I’m relatively new to the fandom and I join to see endless endless posts filled with lament and longing for “the glory days of the homestuck fandom”
Ok yeah maybe you were all a little more eccentric back then and maybe a lot of you guys turned on homestuck and left
But??? Homestuck is not DEAD
We are nearing the endgame
This is the ultimate climax to the plot of homestuck
Our fandom was great and we were immortal
But seriously
If you keep believing we’re dying
If you keep mourning for something that isn’t even dead
It might as well be
Because guys you are the fandom you create the fandom, the fandom is not something happening to you
From what I gather, a few years ago everyone seemed to collectively decided as a fandom that when homestuck ended, we would go out with a bang
WHY HAS THAT MENTALITY FADED
HOMESTUCK IS RANDOM AND LONG AND SPECTACULAR AND WEIRD AND ALMOST OVERWHELMING
WE ARE THE FANDOM
WE NEED TO MULTIPLY THAT, NOT QUENCH IT
we do not NEED all this negativity
Hussie’s attention is divided between homestuck and hivebent and homestuck has slowed down but we have nearly seven years behind us
Seven years is nothing guys
We are much to great for a meager seven years of homestuck glory
Where is your former passion
The answer is not “gone”
ITS STILL THERE, YOURE JUST SPENDING ALL YOUR ENERGY IN WISHING HOMESTUCK WOULD BE GRAND AGAIN
SO STOP IT, YOU BLUBBERING GODDAMN PANSIES
whether you take the next step or not, it’s up to you.
