Hi I'm a 17 year old girl in my senior year of high school, and I was dumped a few days ago by my boyfriend. The main reasons he gave were my slightly 'cold' personality and my inability or unwillingness to do anything sexual. The more we talked about it, as he questioned it quite a bit, I started wondering whether I was asexual or not. I've read quite a bit online about the typical signs or characteristics but I'm still not sure if I am or not. Do you have any advice?
Sorry this took so long to answer, I’ve been working a full time job that’s quite demanding. Asexual is often described as “Lacking sexual attraction.” so the best advice I can give is to determine what does sexual attraction mean to you? Do you experience other types of attraction (sensual, platonic)? Then determine if your attitude towards sex is because you aren’t attracted to the other person involved? Or are you adverse to sex for other reasons? What helped me was talking to someone who is Allosexual (a person who experiences frequent sexual attraction) and ask them frankly what it is like for them? What does attraction feel like? When they see someone attractive on TV or in public, how do they respond? what are the emotions? That could help you compare your own experiences :) Good luck!
