Part Two

Your POV

I quickly dialed G’s number barely being able to wipe the smile off my face walking out of work.

“Hey baby, I miss you.” G answers the phone and my smile only gets bigger.

“Babe you’ll never believe it! David is publishing my article! I did it!” I yell in excitement and he laughs on the other end.

“Y/N! That’s my girl. You are an amazing writer and it’s damn time people see that.” By him saying that only warmed my heart more. It just made me love him even more. We had been dating for about a year and a half now, through thick and thin he’d always say, and it was true. From album launches to tough critics we always supported one another.

“Y/N? What are you still doing here? Do you want a ride home, you are on the way home for me.” My boss David comes up  from behind me and I quickly cover the phone so Gerald wouldn’t hear.

“Who’s that?” Gerald asks, he was so protective of me, he just had good intentions but sometimes the littlest stuff ticked him off.

“It’s my boss. I’ll call you back babe.” With that I hung up quickly and turned around to meet David. Everyone in the office knew David had a thing for me since day one but he was my boss, let alone I had an amazing boyfriend.

“Hey, and you know it’s not that far, I don’t mind walking.” I smile and David shakes his head.

“It’s creepy down here at night, please it’s no trouble.” There was a part of me that knew I shouldn’t but he was right.

“Okay, thank you.” I get into his very expensive car, one I probably wouldn’t be able to afford no matter how much I saved. We rode in silence until my phone started ringing Gerald’s face appearing on the screen, I quickly ignore it and I catch David looking at it in the corner of my eye.

“Well, here we are.” David smiles and I quickly get out.

“Thanks so much.” I smile politely and quickly get up to Gerald and I’s apartment. I call back G and he answers on the first ring.

“Yo, what was that about?” He asks and I head to the bedroom to pack the last couple of things.

“My boss, he-uh- was nice enough to drive me home.” I struggle to open the suitcase and hold the phone at the same time.

“Your boss that has the hots for you?” G asks and I roll my eyes.

“Sure, I don’t know. I’m gonna finish packing and I’m on the next flight out to you.” I smile and he laughs.

“Yeah, the guys and I are going to pregame a little but I’ll be back in time at the house to see you. You’ll love the place, has a really big bed…” G carries off the sentence and I laugh.

“Alright, I’ll see you later. Text you when I land. Love you.” I hang up and finsih packing. I walk into the bathroom and turn on the curling iron to just touch up a couple pieces of hair so I wouldn’t have to later. I start to curl a piece underneath and I guess I got too close to my neck and burn it. I hiss in pain and put the curling iron down to see the red mark forming. I finish my hair and let the iron cool before tossing it into my bag.

I get an Uber to the airport as I don’t want to bother any of my friends to just drive me to the airport. The ride wasn’t that long but I was just so excited to see my boyfriend. It had been about a month since I had seen Gerald because of tour but he luckily got a week off and got a house in Palm Springs that sounded amazing. It was just going to be us for once and I couldn’t wait.

The flight was a little less than an hour so I got to Palm Springs pretty quickly and just got an Uber to the adress G had sent me.

The airport was pretty quiet as it was late. Of course I would have liked if Gerald picked me up but he was famous and I suppose someone would recognize him, plus he was most likely drinking. I watched the street lights pass as the palm trees lightly blew in the wind. About 30 minues later we started pulling up to the house and of course I was shocked at how beautiful it was.

“Thank’s so much.” I pay and get out, dragging my bag behind me. I was honestly exhausted from work and I really didn’t sleep on the plane since it was a short flight. I knock on the door and no one answers but the music blares from within. I try and knock louder and finally someone answers, a girl with dark brown hair and beautiful tan skin opens the huge door.

“Can I help you?” She asks in an annoyed tone and I’m taken back by it.

“Yeah my boyfriend Gerald is there, can I come in?” She laughs and opens the door more and I start to go in and see him in a chair with a girl ontop of him just sitting there. There were several girls wearing barely anything but you weren’t one to judge. His crew was there, as well as guys you’d never even seen before.

“G.” I say and he looks at me and starts laughing lightly. To say I was embarrassed wasn’t even the start of it.

“Hey babyy,” He slurred his words and quickly got up, pushing the girl off of him. His hair was no longer in the usual slicked back fashion as pieces of it fell in front of his eyes and the sides of his face. Gerald barely could walk but he didn’t let go of a bottle that was in his hand. I noticed drugs all over the coffee table, ones I knew that were not just weed.

“Awhh look at my girl, damn baby. Mmm.” Gerald wraps me in a hug and rocks me back and forth and I lightly shove him off. He scowls at my action and his eyes were dark, his pupils dilated beyond what I had ever seen them.

“What did you do? How much did you drink?” I hold the sides of his face and I can see everyone staring at us. It’s then I notice a tiny bit of blood splattered up his neck.

“What the fuck Gerald? Are you hurt?!” I pull the shirt down near his neck and he looks annoyed.

“No, stop it.” Gerald pulls away from me.

“What happened?” I ask worried and he takes another drink from the bottle.

“I don’t know, why don’t you ask David.” He says taking me by surprise and I run my fingers through my hair.

“What the fuck is that?!” Gerald yells and I jump at the change in tone and everybody looks our way.

“What?” I ask and he grabs the back of my neck.

“You have a hickey, Y/N. Did you fuck David? You gonna leave me for him? Some 40 year old guy who probably can’t even get it up?” Gerald yells anger clearly radiating off of him.

“What the hell Gerald? What’s your problem?” I ask.

“I didn’t sleep with David, he’s my boss! G c’mon, you know I love you.” I grab his hand but he jerks it away.

“You should! I’m gone all the time, it sure would be easy for you. Then I could hookup with other girls and not feel like shit afterwards!” Gerald holds his stomach and laughs as he barely holds onto the bottle.

“Excuse me? I’m not talking to you with everybody here.” I say scowling at his last sentence and turn around heading towards the front door.

“Well then fuck you!” Gerald yells and before I know it a bottle smashes against the wall next to the front door. Gasps fill the room at his sudden action, as I’m frozen in my steps. Tears fall down my cheeks, as fear laces into every bone and muscle in my body. I turn around to look at him and it seems he realized what he’d done.

“Baby- I’m so sorry, I didn’t m-” Gerald starts but I quickly stop him.

“You’re fucking crazy, don’t ever come near me again.” I say as anger flows through me. I quickly open the door and slam it shut running down the driveway, tears streaming which I knew would leave a mess with mascara but that was the least of my problems. I sobbed and sobbed but I just kept walking as the events of what happened replayed over and over like a bad rerun.

Authors Note: Hope you liked it, there will be a part two coming out very shortly so I’ll be sure to put the link to part two in this one! Thanks! Open for requests if you have any!

OMGGGG I wrote something! Yay! This idea has been rolling around in my head for FOREVER, so I’m happy I finally had the time and skill to write it :-) Happy Friday and weekend to all of you, here is some Everlark fluff for your enjoyment! xoxo, CC

“Excuse me, is someone sitting here?”

Katniss pulls the earbud out of her ear and looks at the seat across from her, then up at the man standing in the aisle. “Uh, I guess not…”

“Great, thanks,” he says with a smile. Katniss tries her best to ignore him as he maneuvers into the seat, and simply returns her gaze out the train window.

She really enjoys train rides. Ever since she was little, she always lov-

“What are you listening to?”

Katniss scowls and looks at the blond man, who is gesturing to her phone. She sighs as she pulls out the earbud once again to answer him. “It’s the new District 12 album.”

“Ah,” he mumbles. “I’m not really a fan.”

She purses her lips and grips the phone in her hand defensively. “Pity.”

Jughead Ambience Playlist

Okay so this is a mixture of songs mainly that I think Jughead would listen to, but it’s a little bit of a mix in with songs that kind of just fit his character as well. I’ve put a few British artists in the mix too and if you guys haven’t listened to them before then omg I suggest you do. It a mixture of some synth-y sounding songs, some early pop-punk, some 80′s, some songs that he listens to ironically, some current pop and rock, it really is a complete mixture of things. It is by no means perfect and is in fact very far from it (@kingpendleton is just fab okay) and I’ll probably continue to update it with songs that I feel fit the playlist I suppose! Also I attempted a very rough cover at album art but my art skills are terrible.

(I have to admit that a few of my own guilty pleasure made this list but I think that they would also fit with Juggie, watch out for any updated versions of this playlist!)

AH you guys! Thank you so very much for the love on my room! I’m completely obsessed and so excited and seeing everyone else’s excitement and questions just makes me feel really good so thank you!

Per your requests, I took a few more photos for those who asked! Click on each picture to see captions for information. Please feel free to message me for links on where to buy anything you see, I still have mostly everything saved! And I am always happy to take more pictures anyone wants :)

Also I apologize if anything is blurry, I had a certain little puppy biting my ankles why I was taking them.

Also, I tried not to take any pictures of any artist’s work head-on so to avoid reposting.

anonymous asked:

I don't know if louis is choosing to be closeted now or if it is still coerced. I have no doubt he wants out of babygate however. I wonder if he and harry have decided to stay closeted for career purposes and so having el back allows him more freedom to write about deep love & relationships for his album. Maybe he'll be honest in lyrics /we'll see/ but establishing el as his partner was a precondition. I hope babygate ends soon but think the El push has another purpose that may help him in a way

Hey anon, thats quite a complex ask :)

I actually have close to zero doubt that Louis is being coerced. I don’t think its actually very hard to reason that out. Unless you believe he really is Fred’s father (in which case…good luck in life) or you think he is the evil mastermind behind one of the most shambolic and unbelievable PR closets any of us has seen - we may as well accept that theres a very fair bet whoever shoved him into it, is still in charge 2 years on.  In fact these people aren’t even hiding- they’re still out there pushing it relentlessly through his supposed solo promo.  The same people who acted as his jailers and abusers in 1D and afterwards, are still  ‘his team’ now he has *all* this freedom. And you know what?  Even leaving aside the fact that these people bullied and media trained his personality out of existence, that they were relentless enough to bring both his stunts to his mothers deathbed, then openly worked to slander him as unstable and violent in the aftermath - even leaving all that repugnant history aside, do you believe Louis Tomlinson, launching a solo career would *choose* a team like that– if he weren’t still cornered and under coercion?

I can’t understand how often that obvious fact is skipped over as fans agonize over (and are constantly astroturfed over- anyone noticed that over the past couple of days?) how much ‘Louis might be to blame’.  You’d have to believe that he pays, with his own money, a team which is unbelievably unprofessional and incompetent at best (though mysteriously able to do their jobs for other people) and actively works against his success at worst. We, as fans, have never caught a real whiff of the band’s contracts, but we’re being told by people who actually don’t know, that the guys have to be free. Well- I am pretty much 99.9% sure Louis isn’t. My 0.1% of doubt about that would have to be that he’s actually managed to fool us over the years into believing that he’s very bright, when in reality he’s very, very stupid. But I think I’ll go with the 99.9%.

Im not debating about ‘wanting a closet’ for their careers. A closet isn’t a shameful thing for the person who has to choose it- its survival in a lot of situations and a lot of professions. For example if Harry wants to become a Hollywood leading man, I sincerely doubt  any agent or manager is going to advise him to come out.  If L and H have been persuaded that a closet is necessary then that is entirely their prerogative.

Its how the closet is run thats in question. Its how damaging Louis’ closet is in every way. Does anyone seriously believe Louis wouldn’t have a closet like Harrys if he had any choice at all? A closet that doesn’t invade his family? Invade his life and his home and his professional image? A closet that’s front and centre of everything he does, just in case anyone forgets he’s in there?

Louis closet is a fiasco of closely-watched stunts which his team prioritise over his work and which are used to entwine with, subtly diminish and tarnish his image.  Stunts which bring him obvious stress, and in BGs case, constant potential disaster. His closet involves handing himself over to Dan Wooten to put any words Dan chooses into his mouth, with no ability to demur. Dan can turn him into anyone he feels like. Does anyone seriously believes Louis *chooses* that over something effortless and convincing? And the ‘explanation’ that the difference between reputation-ruining cruelty and the odd Victorias Secret model is because Louis ‘reads as gay’ and Harry doesn’t? Sorry. No.

Bringing Eleanor back as a cover for his album, because he would need that if he wrote any love songs? Well, its ironic but I tend to think the fandom insistence that Louis and  Harry must have lived each song they wrote, may be a legacy of the history of Larry ‘protest songs’. The songs that obviously did reflect their struggle. But its also good box office (as Taylor Swift knows) and I think its an idea the people who run the show use, not just for press but to manipulate the fandom, as they try to use tattoos.

But the suggestion that Louis team would care enough to bring back Eleanor so Louis could write what he wants, isn’t believable to me for all kinds of reasons.  Rationally, if he is only allowed to write songs about someone the fans can identify as Not Harry, he could have kept Danielle. Or he could say they weren’t personal songs, like they u-turned on BTY once they realised that fans didnt think it was romantic. He could say anything. His team know Larries won’t believe love songs are about Eleanor for a second, just as they know antis (and everyone else) will believe absolutely anything they’re told up to an including that the album is about Angela Merkel.  So, no I don’t think they brought her back to ‘allow’ him to write the songs he wants. And I don’t believe he would have chosen Eleanor’s return if he had any say.

Remember how thrilled he was to get free of Eleanor even for a while?  He was trapped with her, in the exact same insulting, diminishing, erasing closet as they’re now rebuilding around him, for *years*. And here we are back again: he’s too chaotic and immature to function without her; he’s an unremarkable guy who’s best staying at home out of the limelight with her instead of going out and being visible or networking  in the industry, because he’s not a star in any way – he’s Eleanor Calder boyfriend. *Why* would he want or agree to that if he had a say?

Eleanor isn’t just an ordinary beard. She’s in with the Sony /1DHQ bricks. She’s one of them. She represents something, and they know it.

Far from bringing El back to cover the album. I’d suggest its the other way round. Promo for this single and the album, is being used as excuse to push Louis stunts, even if it sabotages the single and album and loses him active fans. I think his team have made it clear what their priorities are.

Very clearly Louis has no option but to push the stunt messages and fight an pray his fans see whats happening as he tries to get his music out there over the stunt noise, then again, whats his option? Harry is also trying to have a career and making compromises.

Since you touch on it anon, one of the biggest questions I have is where Eleanor fits into BG, because I actually had a tiny paranoid suspicion from the time BG began, that they were planning to bring her back. The press narrative at the time of ‘clubbing’ and the baby announcement, had too many mentions linking him to her as his one true love he couldnt get over;  Love You Goodbye during MITAM promo, which was not a single but was pushed that hard, and heavily linked to Eleanor. Louis family, Jay especially, still liking her pics through the ‘estrangement’. But I cant come up with a single theory of why they would free him of E to go through the very obvious plan to land him with a baby, if the endgame was going back to Elounor jail, only even more burdened? Or why he and Harry looked so hopeful or excited through OTRA and MITAM, if they had a clue what was coming? I cant even come up with a faint theory, so Im probably wrong about the contract being in place all along. I would say maybe she’s part of the end to BG, but lets face it, they dont need a costar/saviour to do that. They just need the will to let him go. You never know though. Nothing around Louis is ever allowed to be simple.

I worry though that ending BG or Elounor while Larries are still strong  and confident => rebound impact on Harry.  Which isn’t really a hopeful equation. I very much hope Im wrong though and someone somewhere has a heart.

Sorry anon… I really need to stop writing essays.

welcome to my one year anniversary follow forever!! it feels absolutely unreal that I made this blog exactly a year ago on june 25, 2016. back then we were in the midst of the euros and I honestly had no idea what was going on in the football fandom, but I’m happy that I’ve found my place :’) a lot has changed, but my love for football has not!! if anything, I have grown more passionate because I now have clubs I support, too, and people to yell about them with!

This may be a bit of a rant, if you're sensitive, please don't read.

So, less than a month till release date and everything is so underwhelming.

From Down, to its rushed video, to the lack of promo, to a cute but generic album cover (is it really the album cover?) – it feels like a college project assembled in one semester for grade completion.

I’m not being negative (if you’ve been following me you’d know I’ve always stayed honest but positive when it comes to the girls. And don’t even accuse me of not being ot4… Coz LOLZ), I actually am still very hopeful that they’ll surprise us with their music. I’m still rooting for them. I’ve never rooted for them as hard as this time coz I want them to get everything in this era.

But yeah, so far, everything they served have been generic. Lukewarm. The album art is cool, but nothing pops, nothing stirs inside me lol. I mean, Camila’s cover for Havana and OMG is even better and that’s not even her album cover, so why can’t they make something that’s unique and amazing for an actual album cover?

It’s so generic that it almost feels like they just cropped their faces from their Down promo poster and made it kind of 3D. well, okay, it’s not bad. It’s okay, it’s cute, it’s cool. But for a self-titled album, is that cover really representative of the girls? No. You don’t see or feel anything. It’s just cool colors and effects. Nothing personal about it. It’s applicable to almost anybody and we’ll be none the wiser. I really hope it’s just a teaser poster or something.

I’m sorry, I don’t really wanna complain (but I am. I snapped. Sue me. Lol), I’ve actually been so chill waiting for their stuff, convincing everyone that they need to relax coz 5h is gonna slay us. (And I’m still hoping!)

But if they continue giving us empty shizz, recycled, malnourished and underwhelming bits, how can I be excited? Is this gonna be another 7/27 era – almost there, but never quite reaching?

If they continue serving us half-baked shit, it makes me think that it’s not their last era yet…. Or they’re simply not as driven as I would wish them to be. Or maybe they still don’t have any say when it comes to their album, because if I was JUST gonna base it from Down (music video and song), I’d think that I won’t get anything new. Just generic, underproduced tracks and videos.

And I know I know, an album art and a generic teaser single don’t represent the entire album — but it SHOULD have represented it, that should have been its purpose. Because if a non-5h fan (a music elitist) sees Down or the cover (which looks like an Andy Warhol art rip off), do you really think it’ll draw them in? If it was me two years ago (unaware of the charm and personalities of LAND), and I see what 5h has put out this era so far, I wouldn’t even take a peek. I’ll look away and find the next big artist.

All I’m saying is I just wanna feel like they’re making an effort, because their fans are doubling their efforts supporting them, and they’ve been feeding them nothing. And if this is them already making an effort? OMG I’m really scared.

My point is this, I’m still gonna support them and stay hopeful… But all I’m saying is, if people are gonna base this era from what they have put out so far, there’s nothing to be excited about. Fans have been complaining how 5H has been continually robbed and ignored by their label, but I can say the same for the fans. They’re doing their best supporting them in everything, and the fans are being blatantly disrespected and treated like fools, being served half assed shit. This label sucks ass. This label is arrogant. This label is so typical. Relying on the fanbase to carry their biggest selling act without effort.

Now that I have ranted, I guess I’ll be back to staying positive and hope that their VMA performance will be epic.

(And I still believe that there’s at least one song in that album that’s gonna slay my heart. I have to believe it, or else what am I gonna live for? Lol)

And I’m still very hopeful that they’ll be giving us good music. I’m already practicing my squeal when I hear some solid bops or some classic ballads. Fuck, I want some fucking kick ass production in this album! And not some bland autotuned shit! Have you heard Lorde’s Melodrama? The entire production of that album is fucking bomb it split my soul into Horcruxes. 5h needs to get on with it.

a musical television special produced by T-Pain. It features the voice of T-Pain as the Ghost of Freaknik, as well as the voices of entertainers such as Lil Wayne, Young Cash, Snoop Dogg, Sophia Fresh, and Rick Ross, and comedians such as Andy Samberg and Charlie Murphy who provide additional voices. It was scheduled to air on Cartoon Network’s late night programming block Adult Swim sometime in 2009, but after several push-backs, it premiered on March 7, 2010. The musical is based on the actual music festival of the same name that used to take place in Atlanta,Georgia.

Oh-ho-ho, Freaknik is back, BAY-BEE!

What better way to ring in the second to last day of Black Animation Month with this Adult Swim produced movie based on one of the hottest college block parties to ever hit Atlanta, Georgia. In keeping with the spirit of being based on a party, this whole movie feels like one huge party full of music, dancing, and colorful personalities whoopin’ it up. As if that weren’t enough, the cast of this movie is a veritable who’s who of big names in rap who do in fact do some rappin’.

That’s something I love about Adult Swim; they have the pull to bring in a lot of big name stars yet they also enjoy bringing exposure to lots of up and coming artists. Hey, they worked their magic to an extent with Tyler the Creator and the rest of Odd Future.

Anyway, as much of a good time as this movie is it did come under a lot of flack for, in no small words, reinforcing some negative stereotypes about black folks. Ohh yeah, the stereotypes that all black people care about is partying, vanity, finding ways to get out of work, and endlessly coveting material possessions. It’s got all that and more–  but at the same time, look at the company that produced it. Adult Swm is known for having a tongue-in-cheek style of humor where they make fun of everything and everybody. They’re making fun of all these aspects of Black culture by presenting them in a context of relative normalcy for the setting.

To give us some more perspective, let’s turn the table over to Pix.

Freaknik was an interesting project to say the least. An animated semi-musical presented and starring autotune artist T-Pain, as well as the likes of Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Lil Jon and Cee-Lo Green just to name a few. And it’s also kind of based on the legendary black party of parties in 90’s era Atlanta? If I had to sum up my experience with this special using two words, I’d probably say: guilty pleasure.
During its initial premiere, Freaknik got a bit of flack from critics, while some publications like Essence Magazine, pretty much wrote if off as an embarrassment and harmful to black culture. Personally the bemoaning articles and criticism felt more like critics out of touch with the youth. You know, Bill Cosby telling us to pull up our pants moment. And honestly, while the jokes in this special tether just a tad past satire and into stereotypical at times I wouldn’t go so far to call it the entertainment A-Bomb to black culture.
What I had hoped to get from Freaknik was the hip-hop equivalent of Metalacolypse, which is essentially a show about metal culture that makes the jokes about much of metal so absurd, yet strangely kind of true. But its comedic cover also wraps around a dedicated smart love letter to the culture. Brandon Smalls is a true metal head. Heck, the guy even made a concept metal album AFTER creating three soundtracks worth of material for the show. So when he subtly slides in a joke about an infamous black metal artist whose suicide death made a cover, you know its done out of a weird morbid love for the culture.
And Freaknik kind of does that to a degree, but nowhere near on the level that it could like with Metalacolyspe does for metal or Black Dynamite does for Blaxploitation films or the social scene of its time. For every funny joke and nod, like Kid And Play dancing while mentioning that their current party is better than any other “House Party,” they’ve hosted, you’ve got other cheap racially-charged jokes that just sort of fall flat.
But maybe the point of Freaknik isn’t really to over-think it. Perhaps it wasn’t really trying to be a show that’s smarter than it looks on the surface. Maybe in its own way, it’s just trying to force viewers, especially black viewers, to let go and have fun much like the original concept of Freaknik before it all went to shit in the mid to late 90’s.
Who truly knows. But one thing’s for sure, that soundtrack is pretty bumpin’.

That just reminds me, I gotta get the soundtrack but yeah, that’s pretty much what I thought. Thanks, pal.

  • A soundtrack was released by Jive Records and Nappy Boy records on April 20, 2010.
  • The 90-minute uncut version of Freaknik: The Musical has been released on DVD and other forms of home media.
  • Freaknik: The Musical originally evolved from a failed pilot entitled That Crook’d ‘Sipp which was created by Jacob Escobedo, Nick Weidenfeld, Levell “David Banner” Crump and Mike Weiss. The pilot premiered on television on May 13, 2007.
  • In its original American broadcast on March 7, 2010, Freaknik: The Musical was watched by 797,000 viewers 18-34, making it the second most watched Adult Swim program of that night, behind a rerun of Family Guy.

I ain’t partied out just yet folks, tomorrow is the final day of Black Animation Month and do I have a special treat for you. IT’s a little something I’ve been looking forward to showcasing for a long-long-long time because it’s something very special to me. Hope you’re ready.

Pink Floyd's David Gilmour has covered all of Beyoncé's Lemonade on the guitar

Pink Floyd were well known for their concept albums, and it seems that the band’s joint singer/guitarist is a fan of other artists’ takes on the form.

David Gilmour and his son Charlie recently gave a shared interview with The Guardian about Charlie being jailed for climbing the Cenotaph in 2011.

During the touching interviews, Charlie let slip that his famous dad had been cajoled into covering all of Beyoncé’s Lemonade - on the guitar.

“The most blissful family occasions for me now are when all the younger siblings are at the farm [in West Sussex] in the spring,” Charlie said.

“We pick nettles and make a big nettle soup, sit by the fire and have a sing-song. The last time it happened, the Beyoncé album [Lemonade] had just come out and we made David cover the whole album from start to finish on the guitar.”

"There was always so much music around in the house - it was a very nice thing to enjoy and discover and talk about - a Leonard Cohen record playing or something along those lines, and my dad was always strumming something.”

David, who is Charlie’s adopted father and a dad to seven other kids, said: “I love being a dad.

"It’s full of frustrations and annoyances and stuff, but the great moments are just so great. They are lovely. There are those moments, and have been with all of my children.”

In 2014, Pink Floyd released The Endless River, previously unreleased material Pink Floyd wrote, recorded and produced with Richard Wright during sessions for 1994’s The Division Bell.

David released his fourth solo album Rattle That Lock only a year ago.

The Flaming Lips have covered Pink Floyd’s albums (and other people’s) live in full - how about David popping into a studio and laying down a unique version of Lemonade?

So I just realized that I never posted this haha. I posted the individual images a while back, though! A friend of mine organizes a project every so often where students from our school compile a mix and create album art for it, so this time I compiled a Vocaloid mix and made a cover for it! You can check out the other art/mixes here.

Ooo!!! Inspired by your previous post could you do Seventeen as baristas? If it's too much could you just do Seokmin please?<3 I'm really sorry if I'm bothering you!

S.Coups/Seungcheol - super sociable and cheerful no matter what, probably calls customers like “good lookin” when he asks for their order and it doesn’t matter who you are, greasy seungcheol will make you blush while writing down your name on a cup. see, he’s flirty with everyone but for some reason he’s like extra greasy with you + he’s always like “this latte’s on the house” and your like thank you??? but whose paying for it and he’s like “me ^^”

Jeonghan - falls asleep while pouring milk into one of the cups and the8 has to like poke his cheek to wake him up. he’s surrounded by caffeine but still manages to always find time to crash for a nap at an empty table in the back of the cafe. he once asked if he could sit at your table and you were like “sure” and the next thing you knew he was out like a light and you like felt a little bad so you propped his head up on your scarf. he has yet to forget that small deed, and so everytime he sees you come in he affectionately refers to you as his ‘scarf pillow angel’

Joshua - very nervous about mixing up orders, has his own little notepad with all the instructions for how to make different drinks. does the cute thing where he puts the pen behind his ear. you think he’s adorable but he’s always mumbling when you’re ordering and you’re like hmm?? and s.coups from beside him is like “joshua just wrote down that you’re cute in his notepad” and joshua is like SHUT U P

Jun - you thought flirty s.coups was bad, well welcome to moon junhui’s coffee shop of winks, blowing kisses, and signing your name on the cup with a heart. he’s honestly the face of the coffee shop like the poster outside has a picture of him holding a mug smiling probably. he’s as greasy as pizza, but when you go up to order he’s so polite and prim and proper and everyone’s like is jun ok?? and jun’s trying so hard to seem suave and its making everyone ??? and ur like ….did the barista just refer to me as your excellency?

Hoshi - always cracking jokes and making the staff and patrons laugh. he’s the life of the cafe and you can catch him dancing behind the coffee machine. when he makes a mistake, he’s so joyful about it that no one ever even gets mad at him for it. probably is in charge of decorating the place in time for the holidays. for some reason he doesn’t get embarrassed when others catch him dancing but when he saw u looking over her got very very red.

Wonwoo - horrible at spelling peoples names it sometimes shocks everyone about how he can butcher such simple names and it’s not his fault, it’s just people talk so low or too fast or something. wears the cap with the cafe logo all the way down so you can’t see his face for some reason. he’s apparently shy around people, but when you’re around you never see him?? you thought he quite at some point but mingyu just laughed like “oh no, he’s hiding because he’s too shy to tell you he like-” and at that moment joshua steps on mingyu’s foot to get him to shut it.

Woozi - the barista that only drinks black coffee and keeps telling everyone that black coffee is the best coffee. would literally get into a physical fight with someone over coffee probably, the type of person to say “i don’t understand the point of lattes” or something (he’s probably just mad that they take more effort to make), but see with you he’s just like … “since they like lattes….maybe they’re not SO bad….”

DK - is always the barista outside handing out free samples of coffee because he’s such a positive force that he just draws the most people inside. people come to the cafe just to chat with him because he remembers their names + their stories and he’s just so soft to everyone?? he knows your name and he always adds little cute drawings to your name on the cup…usually it’s a doodle of a sun with a smiley face and you’re like hmmm…it looks like him…hehe

Mingyu - gets caught stealing from the snacks display, but he promises to pay for it with his paycheck (which he never does). is surprisingly really good at spelling peoples names. because he’s the tallest, he can see what everyone else is doing and he sometimes has to be like “joshua no that’s not vanilla syrup, that’s chai” or “woozi i can see you thinking of throwing searing hot coffee at that asshole customer but don’t do it bro.” you know he spells everyones name right but for some reasons yours is wrongs and one day ur like “mingyu why” and he’s like “it’s an excuse to get you to talk to me i mean rofl whaT”

the8 - doesn’t talk much, just nods his head and scribbles down your order in really cute handwriting. some people tried to call him rude for it, but the rest of the workers jumped to defend him because no??? he’s just quiet?? he has cute buttons on his apron. when you order he always adds this little message on your cup and even though he doesn’t say it to you directly, you feel like you can hear his sincerity in the messages.

Seungkwan - sings while preparing the coffee, probably really good at making those designs with cream. tries to convince the manager of the shop to host an talent show night or something so he can sing but the manager keeps turning him down, but seungkwan is sure one day he will succeed. he overheard you saying how much you like taeyeon’s new album so now whenever you come in he’s always humming along to the tune of her songs.

Vernon - made himself the person in charge of the music, literally doesn’t let anyone play what they want because he’s like “no, i made a playlist - we should stick to the playlist.” isn’t good at actually handling the coffee so he’s mostly on the cash register. you once asked him who the song playing was by and he told you shyly that it was a cover he did with another worker and you were like wow!! i would buy an album of just this if i could!! and choi hansol almost died from blushing that day.

Dino - is so excited to take peoples orders and gives people the biggest smiles when they tell him to have a good day!! he keeps trying to get vernon to play just MJ for a while. is prone to tripping over peoples feet sometimes though. u notice he always has like coffee stains on his apron and you’re like omg he’s a lil clumsy isn’t he. you once helped him up after he fumbled over his mop and now when dino sees you walking past the window of the shop he waves for like 5 min straight and your like hehe he’s so cute.

The Space Age Artwork Behind Logic’s New Album, ‘The Incredible True Story’

To see more of Logic’s photos and Sam’s artwork, check out @logic301 and @samspratt on Instagram. For more music stories, head to @music.

For the cover of his second record, The Incredible True Story, Logic (@logic301) had a specific image in mind. So he recruited Sam Spratt (@samspratt), who he collaborated with on his debut album, to help bring it to life.

“Sam will give me exactly what I want, but sometimes make it better,” says Logic. “I just rap. This dude is the artist.”

The 25-year-old emcee was looking for an image that a) encompassed the record’s futuristic plotline and b) was inspired by a still from Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou — a wide shot of the film’s main characters sitting front and center in a submarine. Logic had come across the photo by accident after opening a book dedicated to the director.

“I swear to God, I took a book and I opened it — and it opened to that picture,” he says. “I was like, wow, this is amazing.”

After relaying the information to Sam, the artist got to work, creating something that felt true to Logic and the album’s storyline, which takes place in 2065 after Earth has been deserted and what’s left of humanity lives in a space station.

“A lot of it was just creating a still from a movie because the album itself is a cinematic experience,” says Sam, “and the art needed to reflect that.”

The final piece, which takes place inside a ship, has 12 characters, with the rapper sitting in the middle, along with members of his team and characters in the record’s story positioned next to him. (If you look closely, you’ll be able to see Sam himself peeking out from behind the shadows.)

“He was able to create a ship where, not everybody but damn near everybody that made this album what it was, was part of the cover,” says Logic. “And yet, because of the color of the flight suit, it draws the eye straight to me, straight to the middle, straight to what the consumer is looking for.”

Now, the finished cover isn’t just on the album, it’s been slapped on the side of a giant tour bus that Logic has been traveling across the country in, surprising his fans and playing them a few cuts from the new record.

“I’ve noticed every single place I go, the music is a big part of it, but the biggest part is the message and the actual lyrics. It’s an era where everybody is talking about the beat and the melody. So to know that they love the beat and the melody, but they [also] love the message, that is what drives them to listen to it, is insane. That’s why I’m excited.”

Wait is the casual sexism a joke that the guys made or did something happen??

That is actually a screencap from the latest Theater Mode. Ryan mentioned that there was a weird moment of “casual sexism” in the movie, and Geoff said something along the lines of “That’s the name of our band” and Broadcast threw up that album cover. It just made me laugh, so I posted it.

Some thoughts about Frank Ocean’s “Blonde”

So at first I wanted to write a review for this album but the more I listened to it, the less it made sense to review this album…I think in many ways “Blonde” will be an album that will be remembered 10 years from now because of its rich content. So instead of reviewing, I just want to share some of my observations/thoughts about this album after spending more a week with it.

Frst, I want to talk about the original title of the album “Boys Don’t Cry” and why I still wish it was the title of the album. Obviously, the first reason is that it perfectly fits the cover art as Frank is covering his face in a way that looks as if he’s reacting to something painful by instinct, or maybe he’s just crying?? I think the big difference between “Blonde” and “Channel Orange” is that “Blonde” is way more autobiographical and introspective than “Channel Orange”, an album that was mostly about fictional stories and characters, whereas “Blonde” is an album that is more about Frank’s personal life experiences over the past few years. As a result, the album has a very strong and effective sense of stream of consciousness in lyrics that are present in many songs of the album. There are maybe 2 or 3 songs that have a “normal” structure, the rest don’t follow any structure whatsoever yet they’re crafted so beautifully.

Okay so I went off-topic…but, I kept thinking about why Frank would originally call this album “Boys Don’t Cry” – and few nights ago I remembered an article that I read two or three weeks ago about why most adults tend to cry more, or be more emotionally responsive to certain things than teenage boys and girls. Well I’m almost 20 and I’m pretty much considered an adult but I don’t feel like one at all. The article mentioned that it needs a certain level of maturity and vulnerability to be able to let go of yourself and cry – something that many teenagers or younger people don’t because of the lack of that maturity or vulnerability. Of course, it depends on the person too. Many people at younger age go through loss, breakup, etc. but they’re still not having the same amount of pressure and vulnerability that an adult usually has. And “Boys Don’t Cry” made even more sense as the title after I read Frank’s letter about the album and the magazine. In the letter, he says: “Boys do cry, but I don’t think I shed a tear for a good chunk of my teenage years. It’s surprisingly my favorite part of life so far. Surprising, to me, because the current phase is what I was asking the cosmos for when I was a kid.”

So for Frank, boys don’t cry…because it’s fact, at least for him. He’s 28 and for him his teenage years are still his favorite phase of life because he did not have the amount of responsibility, pressure and vulnerability that he has now, as he expresses in many songs throughout “Blonde”. Masculine vulnerability remains a big theme in Frank’s work, as it was throughout “Channel Orange.”

So with all that I said, I have a feeling/theory that Frank’s love interest in some of these songs is not a person, but his boyhood, his favorite phase of life, and how he lets of it at the end of the songs. The song ‘Godspeed’ for example, is very similar to ‘Forrest Gump’ from “Channel Orange”. Both songs are about Frank letting go of his lover while still remembering them. But I think ‘Godspeed’ is also Frank’s farewell to his teenage years; in his interview with Lil B he mentions that he somewhat misses those times even though he doesn’t want to be a kid again. So, he lets go of it, but he will always remember and cherish it. As a result, mortality becomes a very central topic of the album. In ‘White Ferrari’, Frank says: “If you think about it it’s over in no time, the best life.” A similar line also appears in ‘Segfried’’s spoken word interlude where Frank says: “A moment one solar flare we’re consumed”; one sudden event could end all of our lives, so why not live our lives to the fullest?

Furthermore, ‘White Ferrari’ has some lyrical similarity with ‘Pink Matter’ – both songs question the significance of our existence, but the difference between Frank’s views in the two is pretty interesting as Frank seems a bit pessimistic in ‘Pink Matter’ and optimistic in ‘White Ferrari’. In ‘Pink Matter’ Frank wonders if all of this is for show and the aliens are watching us from the above, while in ‘White Ferrari’ he is “sure we’re taller in another dimension” but his love interest thinks “we’re small and not worth the mention.” Also I just have to say ‘White Ferrari’ is the best song I’ve heard this year.

Finally, I want to talk about Frank’s philosophy on life and humans, other than his mortality, and how beautifully it is reflected in “Blonde”. In the final track of the album ‘Futura Free’, Frank talks about how music is “therapy” for him, and that he’s amazed that he gets paid for something so personal, and confesses it should be him paying and thanking us for listening to him. What I find amazing is also the fact that music is therapy for him. How come something so personal and meditative for Frank also connects many, many other people to him and his music?

Which brings me to this: in 2011, there’s a rare interview with Frank a little after “Nostalgia, ULTRA”’s release, and at one point, the interviewer asks Frank if he works with certain type of people, or if he has a certain philosophy on people and life, to which Frank responded by saying that it’s very important for him to work with people who have a very good understanding of the fact that we are all the same, even though we seem to be different in many other ways; a perspective that connects perfectly with what he says in ‘Futura Free’. Frank’s music is therapy for him, but it’s also therapy for us listeners and fans. It just goes to show how similar we all are, we share the same emotions, feelings, and phases of life as Frank does.

And for me that’s why “Blonde” is an album that will be remembered for years to come. I’m 19 but I think this album will make even more sense when I’m the same age as Frank.

Getting your song as the ending theme to a season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is pretty much a badge of honor. You’re part of one of the greatest anime/manga franchises ever, you get money from the use of the license, more people are exposed to your work, and as a result you get more fans and more sales.

Like, how many of us had even heard of Yes and their song “Roundabout” before it was used as the ending to Parts I and II? Now it’s arguably inseparable from the show, and is an iconic theme of the franchise. “Walk Like An Egyptian” hasn’t been relevant in years, but it got renewed popularity with Stardust Crusaders. Hell, after “Last Train Home” was used as Stardust Crusaders’ second ending, the Pat Metheny Group /anticipated/ the surge in popularity and made an introductory/best-of album to introduce fans, even using art from Stardust Crusaders as the cover art.

And just a few days ago, with the broadcast of the second episode of Diamond is Unbreakable, Savage Garden lead singer Darren Hayes openly expressed his thrill on Twitter that new fans were being made of his song “I Want You” and that he was happy to have it as part of the show.

JoJo’s impact as a cultural phenomenon is reaching to areas outside of the typical anime/manga niche. It’s a fascinating event that I’m interested in seeing evolve as further seasons inevitably get produced.
