i made this for my hiatus theme on my other blog but i really love it so

Y’shenn’s looking for y’friends

Hello! Some of you might recognize me or my FFXIV character, Y’shenn Tia. However, I don’t really have many FFXIV friends, in-game or out-of-game. I’ve made posts looking for contacts before, but they didn’t always work out (admittedly, this was partly due to failure to follow-up on my part). Anyways, I’m looking for more contacts for Y’shenn and just more friends in general now that I have some more free time on my hands.

With Stormblood coming up, I do want to develop more of a story for my character, but it’s a bit lonely doing it by yourself haha. I’m also hoping this will get me interested in FFXIV again, since I haven’t been playing it much recently, having exhausted most of the content.

So if you ever wanted to meet Y’shenn, now’s a good chance! Read on for more information on how to get in touch! Thank you for your interest!

A FEW WORDS BEFORE!?!?!? * ugly cries * OKAY BUT HOW IN THE ANGEL IN HELL DO I HAVE OVER 400 FOLLOWERS NOW? I’d like an explanation. send it care of the ghost, please return by post, P.T.O — no seriously thank you all so much. I’ve only had my blog for around 6 months and I didn’t expect for a significant follower count I just wanted to get into the Phantom fandom because, well, I’m obsessed with it and it’s my favorite story of all time. I’m really surprised that enough people appreciate my portrayal and taken an interest because I know it’s not the ordinary interpretation? I’m very focused on the more humanizing aspects of Erik rather than his more atrocious ones and yet I have people that like my version and I’m amazed you have no idea. While Erik has always been one of my favorite characters, I really have grown in learning about his psychology and how I’ve seen him and when you have a problematic muse it’s always complex to pull that off, and I still get doubtful and reevaluate things but overall I’ve only grown to love writing him and his character more as its developed — and appreciated his depth and meaning in ways I never considered before.

Anyways I owe a ton of people who have shaped my view, discussed the story with me and all of us like different things and it’s just really gratifying??? Phantom really is a beautiful story and it’s a long running musical, a high quality movie, a novel  and a haunting narrative for a reason. The roleplay community is small but it’s growing and I’m living. There is such dedication within the truly passionate writers for their characters and it’s just a great group of human beings. Despite our differences we all love it in our own ways and I’m just extremely glad to be writing in it at all — and I know it’s something I’ll be sticking with. bUT ENOUGH BEING SENTIMENTAL it’s time to GET SAPPY instead and thank some of the people that make the experience so amazing and that I adore writing with and deserve hella praise *OVERTURE INTENSIFIES*

2016 review

2016 has been an awful year for mostly everyone due to known public events that affected people in one way or another. In my case, this year wasn’t good either and I can rescue some moments that involve family, friends and achieve some interviews. But I made this blog for talk about animated series and other stuff, so here is my balance of this year.

I began this blog with Regular Show, Adventure Time, BoJack Horseman and Ash vs Evil Dead, which I’ve been following when I made the blog, but I found many surprises like Disney’s hits Gravity Falls and Star vs the Forces of Evil. After watching both shows I came up that they were another proof that this fifth generation of animation (since 1990: 1990-1998;1998-2002;2002-2007;2007-2010;2010-2016) going into the sixth is really great. Despite that, we also knew RS and AT are going to finish: the first in January 2017, meanwhile the latter on 2018.

About the shows I’ve been already watching, every one of them had a tremendous year. Ash keeped that gore, peculiar humor Evil Dead handled through movies and the first season of Ash vs Evil Dead. The arcs, relationships with the main and new characters were well handled and also we saw that classic Evil Dead moments like Ashy Slashy handpuppet (I FUCKING WANT ONE!), or the return to the cabin in the woods. Also, Steve Austin as Ash’s father was excellent, sorry he had to die so early.

(NOTE: this one is the exception because I love Evil Dead and I follow the series like a deadite).

Adventure Time had begun their seventh season and they were doing good, but after Stakes things became better and they brought their best season since Season 4 (2011/12). Meanwhile, Regular Show left us in a mid-season where everything happened, but they had surprises for us: the closure of important arcs, the opening of the following season theme and incredible adventures on space. Both seasons 7 and 8 are the best since, also and in my opinion, its fouth one. Sadly, Mordecai, Rigby and the rest of the Park Rangers adventures are going to end in two weeks from now. January 16th 2017 is going to be a super sad day.

BoJack Horseman broadened its universe and, although we see the main character facing his demons everytime as always, we could see his sweet side in the underwater episode. But also we saw the crashing death of Sarah Lynn. If your heart didn’t broke when BoJack realized she was dead, go to the doctor and check yourself!

About the surprises

Tumblr forced (?) me (yeah @owlwright you’re responsible too) to watch Star vs the Forces of Evil due to its fan art and some caps of the long awaited Season 2. In two weeks I found a wonderful western magical girl series that, despite being too cringy the first half of its first season, had good stories which became stronger in its second season, besides bad guys point of view could be seen (something many series don’t apply). The characters have their own charm and go in crescendo up to the midseason finale, the heavy feeling puncher Bon Bon The Birthday Clown.

Gravity Falls was something I’ve been pushing for a year more or less. This year it ended with a bang with the resolution of the story, and also because the amazing Alex Hirsch didn’t want to continue the story, a respectable decision that opened him Hollywood doors by writing a script for a future movie I don’t remember which. About GF, the mysteries are the key of the series, but to me the characters make it incredible. Stanley and Mabel Pines steal the show basically, meanwhile Dipper makes a good Fox Mulder. It’s quite enjoyable and no surprise it’s one of this decade best animated series, casually alongside AT, RS, Over The Garden Wall, all shows created by Hirsch’s former partners on Flapjack (yeah, Steven Universe too, I just wanted to point the coincidence).

(I’m not done with it since I have to watch Weidmageddon, but I’ll do the proper review for this soon)

Rick and Morty is the most insane, kickass, awesome animated series this guy watched in years. Yeah, it parodies Back to the Future, but has its own style. The craziness Rick and Morty’s universe handles is very enjoyable, and it gets dark as BoJack, even darker. Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland created a successful and lovable freak circus monster. And talking about Justin, his voice acting is great, he is as insane as the characters he voices, no matter if it’s Lemongrab, Morty, Rick or Ants In The Eyes Johnson. In fact, I dare to say Rick and Morty is the crazy cousin of Gravity Falls since both share not only a despicable character (Rick/Stanley), mystery, voice actors (both Roiland and Hirsch voiced characters in both shows), they share amazing fake TV shows and TV ads! Try to watch them, it’s worthy.

This year we knew Nickelodeon confirmed the comeback of Hey Arnold. Craig Bartlett wanted to finish the story with The Jungle Movie, the story where Arnold and his friends go to find his lost parents. This TV movie animation and voice recordings are finished, it’s all matter of time to watch that ending. Speaking of comebacks, this time I felt surprised when Nick announced a Rocko movie. I’m so glad they bring my favorite wallaby, but I’m afraid they would ruin the show’s vibe. Luckily, I trust Joe Murray could give that show a modern vibe using that cool mirror named Regular Show. Sadly, we also knew Harvey Beaks wasn’t going to be renewed because the network didn’t want to, and also they mismanage HB not re-runing it or promoting properly as it’s been said. It’s a shame because, despite watching few episodes, HB is a nice series about friendship.

CN also had this mismanage thing in favour of crappy shows (yeah, I’m looking at you TTG and PPG2K16), promoting and marathoning them all the time meanwhile better shows had small time on air. That decisions made Steven Universe and Regular Show rush their seasons in no time, the first in a month and a half, the other aired half a season in five weeks. Also, Adventure Time had a super long hiatus right before the awaited finnale, whose first episode, Preboot, was shown in conventions (SDCC, NYCC and so). Fans had to wait four months to see what happened to Finn, Jake and Susan Strong.

On the brightside, Steven Universe once again amazed fans with a good season that I’m watching little by little as CN Latinamerica airs (comfort reasons mostly). Mr Greg is one of the best musicals I’ve ever seen, where Dee Dee Mango Hall showed all her singing skills as Pearl. We Bare Bears had its cuteness as ever, but to me the baby bears episodes are everything. And the future is promising if the network greenlights the amazing pilots Infinity Train and Víctor and Valentino, both episodes with lots of mystery vibe and quite entertaining that could continue the fresh wave that is on CN since 2007 more or less. Also, IT hit the superb mark of a million views on Youtube! Kudos to Owen Dennis!

And last but not least, you guys. The road was tough while I began in a new social media with this topic, but finally I met good people I enjoy sharing thing with and I enjoy the things they share. I wish you a much better 2017.

it’s a new year and there’s a lot to be thankful for in the past year - even after the upsetting 13/14 season, tito, some of our favourite boys (cachai, cesc, PUYI, pinto, valdes!!!) leaving, our board f-ing shit up as usual, the world cup final, etc - and there’s also a lot more to look forward to, you guys know it. (: if we survived the 13/14 season, we can survive anything.

2015 is a v busy and v important year for me, because this year i have A-Levels. i’ve also committed myself to other projects which i really want to see through, and at the same time there are people i want to spend more time with. so this is me, taking a year-long hiatus from tumblr starting monday (will still be actively pursuing football! just not on tumblr). i’m planning to come back in november or december, but who knows. if you want to stay in touch, there’s twitter and instagram, or message me off-anon for anything.

this is in a way also a goodbye and thank you note to everyone. i’m shy here, i’m not funny, i don’t make good edits or gifs, but thank you for following me and talking to me. even if you aren’t listed here, thank you for making my tumblr experience so wonderful; it has been a lovely three (or two? and a half?) years here. stay safe and lovely and wonderful and healthy, you guys, and always remember to check your sources before posting or reblogging anything!!!!!

miserablemaester-deactivated201  asked:

Other than yourself, obviously, what blogs should I follow for the best essays on ASOIAF? Thanks, I am a huge fan.

Why, thank you so much! Much appreciated. :)

So, some recs. (FYI, I’m sorting these by group/reblogging blogs, then by meta content, more or less.)

  • @asoiafuniversity - which I’m one of the mods of, and we try to collect lots of good meta, so that’s a good place to check out who else is out there that writes meta. And the archives have lots of stuff on all kinds of topics. Also somewhere on the sidebar is a link to a post that links to so many ASOIAF meta blogs, very helpful. :)
  • @themaesters - they also collect meta, among other ASOIAF resources. They have a good tagging system, and also do meta masterlists that contain dozens and dozens of posts, organized by topic.
  • @descendantsofvalyria - Focuses on Targaryens. A lot of art and graphics, but they also reblog meta, useful if you’re looking for info on Targaryens. :)
  • @bighound-littlebird - in case you’re interested in sansan content (never know), they reblog meta in addition to fanart and graphics.
  • @warsofasoiaf - a group of ASOIAF bloggers who mostly do essays over on their wordpress blog, but also answer meta questions here on tumblr, on lots of topics. (Especially on topics of politics and battle strategy, which are not always my best, so I’m very glad they exist to be pointed to for questions like that.)
  • @racefortheironthrone - Steven does chapter-by-chapter reviews of ASOIAF on his wordpress blog, all quite excellent, and also answers meta questions here on tumblr. Another one I point to, especially for questions of history.
  • @poorquentyn - a personal blog, but almost all ASOIAF posts. Writes some amazing essays, especially on themes and characters… let me just say he’s made me dramatically rethink some characters and I’m very glad to have been. Really wonderful and clever writing, too. :) And he answers asks as well.
  • @thegoldofwinterfell - a fandom blog, though not purely meta; but reblogs a lot of varied posts, so really nice to follow. :) She writes fanfic as well as meta (really good fic), so that’s a FYI since I know some ASOIAF fans avoid fanfic. Tags well, so helpful for finding things about specific characters. Also answers asks in addition to writing some lovely essays.
  • @donewithwoodenteeth - one of my AU co-mods, is currently on hiatus, but has some really excellent essays and answered asks, especially about Arya.
  • @joannalannister - another AU co-mod, she says she’s just a Lannister blog, but she writes well on all kinds of topics, believe it. Note, a personal blog (like mine), with lots of other subjects reblogged as well as ASOIAF content, just FYI.
  • @him-e - and another AU co-mod, who writes wonderfully on Jaime and Brienne (as well as other topics). Also a personal blog jsyk.

And I’m sure there are lots of other people out there, not trying to overlook anyone, but again I recommend AU’s archives if you’re seeking specialists on particular topics. (And especially if I have forgotten about good meta blogs.) You can also check out my blog recs tag – though it might be a little redundant to this post (or if ones listed in older posts aren’t mentioned here it’s probably because they’re not updating currently). Hope you find something you like! :D

Free Eternal Summer Review by Reika Tanaka

Konichiwa Minna-San~~~ (i’m not a weeb guys lol)

I will try to be as non-biased as possible.

To mark the ending of Free Eternal Summer, I’m here to make a formal review (well as formal as I can get) of the anime.

Episode by episode is a very hard thing to do and because I am lazy I will just write a huge paragraph of my thoughts.

Mika is also doing one too stay tuned for her review!

In overview, I think this season greatly surpassed the first. To be completely honest, this is the first anime in which I have felt this way, and I have watched and read many animes and mangas in my life. This season made me more emotional, and even though yes, I am an emotional hormonal teenage girl, I feel like this season had more of a depth to it than the first. This does make sense, however, because second season’s are supposed to be about more character development and such.

I think the way that the producers matured the characters really added a layer of depth to the story. Being Rei biased, I really appreciated how we were able to see more character development, and this also goes for all of the other characters. I also really enjoyed how Sousuke added a layer of interest to the story. The whole HaruRinRalia thing was really great, however I think the producers/writers of Free! should have explained it a little more in depth, because it was confusing that Haru and Rin would suddenly go to Australia on a moment’s notice, but I’ll delve more in depth into that in another category.

All in all I really enjoyed this Season, and have very few “issues” with it.

Now, all anime’s have pacing issues, and Free! did not escape this trend. Granted, the pacing wasn’t terrible, and absolutely did not take away from the affect the anime had on viewers, I really didn’t notice the pacing issues until the very end, when I thought about it. I think the ending was really rushed though;I feel like a LITTLE more detail could be incorporated into the parts where Haruka opened up more at the end. The parts where Haruka was conflicted about his future were done exceptionally well, and this, in my opinion, really made up for the pacing in the last episode. Extending Haruka’s internal conflict was crucial to the storyline, and I’m so thankful that the producers made that decision. Sousuke’s conflict with himself and with Rin/Haru also added something that really increased my appreciation for the anime. I will get more in depth about characters in another section, but I will have to say, all of the conflict with Sousuke made me like him 1000% more than I did at the start of the season.

My favorite section, and probably the majority of the viewers as well. At the beginning of the season, I really disliked Sousuke. I am very quick to judge and I’m especially glad that I kept a little bit of faith in him because after the shoulder incident and his conversations with Rin, I finally started to see how much the character himself added to the development of Rin, but also with Haruka, Makoto, Rei and Nagisa. I think Sousuke was one of the deciding factors of this season, because in my opinion he was the one who tied everything and everyone together. Sousuke challenged Rin’s future as well as his own, and with that, also indirectly sparked Haruka’s conflict with his future. I think the individual character development this season was absolutely superb, and I think my favorite would have to be Makoto’s. Seeing him interact with the young swimmers and teaching them really put a smile on my face. The child (the name is blanking on me i’m sorry) that didn’t like swimming at first, but really loved backstroke added something to Makoto’s character as well, because obviously Makoto’s favourite stroke is backstroke etc etc. I also very much enjoyed Nagisa’s backstory as well. The dimension of Nagisa’s hardship with his parents and his school added a more serious aspect to the most cheerful character in all of the anime. On a more happy note, I suppose, I really enjoyed Momotarou and Nitori in this season! I think Momo and Nitori added a very light-hearted element to the more serious parts of the anime, and I think that was much needed to balance out the edge of conflict between many of the characters/themselves.

Music, Production, and Art:

The music, production and art in this anime were all the best. To be completely honest, I enjoyed the ending theme of the last season a lot more, but this season’s opening and all of the character OST’s were just too good to ignore. Music during the anime itself (background) was excellent. I never once questioned the use of the soundtrack, and the music did emphasize the mood the show was trying to portray beautifully. Art/Production was insanely good. I was a swimmer myself for quite a long time, and being one, I really appreciated the correct movements for strokes, as well as exchanges and diving. The actual art of the characters, setting and etc. was equally as good. Every movement the characters made was very believable, and the animation of the actual water itself did not disappoint either. I think the use of colour in this anime was phenomenal, and every aspect of the art and all related categories were absolutely amazing. I have nothing remotely bad to say about this category especially. I noticed nothing that I had issues with.

Honestly, I think Kyoto Animation did a spectacular job these past two years. They closed off the anime very well, and left few opening endings needing any sort of resolve. I personally would LOVE another season, as do most all of the viewers, but I do not expect one. I’ve gotten many questions about this before, and after watching the last episode, I do not think there is anything more that Kyoto Animation has to do to give us closure. The ending, although painfully rushed, (although understandably so) was satisfying enough for me. Keep in mind that this is my opinion. If Kyoto Animation did decide to make a new season, I wouldn’t complain at all, but there is a saying that goes along the lines of, “don’t overdo things that already done”. Kyoto Animation never disappoints, though, and if they did decide to make season 3, I think they would be able to devise something worth watching.

Admin’s Note:

Mika and I did this last year, and I’m not sure if we’ll do it again, and that is going on a hiatus. My best bet is that there is not going to be another season, and I would absolutely hate to abandon this blog. There is no need, and we’ve come so far. However, after a certain point, there is really no new content to post/reblog, and a blog with too much repetition is annoying (from my experiences). I would love to hear your opinion, so please feel free to submit it in our ask. I won’t post the replies, so I would really love it if you would come off anon to give us your opinions. If you are on anon that’s fine as well, but we would very much prefer no anon for this topic especially. Thank you wonderful people for making this season absolutely fantastic for us. This year we grew about 5000 followers from the past, and that is just beautiful considering we’re just two average girls. I would like to say, please have a kind, caring, safe day, no matter your situation. As cheesy and overdone as it sounds, I love you all, and thank you for supporting us so much.

I probably missed alot of things, and honestly there is so much to say about this fantastic anime.

Drop, Scoop, Tap Out: When Magic becomes too much

If you’re reading this, chances are you enjoy playing Magic: the Gathering as a social past time or more. You’re dedicated to learning the mechanics, what’s coming in future sets and improving your decks(whether functionally or thematically). More and more you find yourself watching streams, following blogs(or even starting your own), and getting involved, as any great game should allow. But rarely do we ever talk about when it gets overdone.
