i made the mistake of trying to get back into dragon age

mattysandwich  asked:

Oh! What about the inquisition companions reacting to a teenage herald being the victim of a racist slur for the first time in their life, and for the herald being visually upset about it?

Cassandra: Whoever said the slur has made a bad decision. A very bad decision. Cassandra looks between the offender and the upset Herald, and her eyes harden as they slowly turn to the racist. Her fists are clenched, turning white at the knuckles, and they realize they have fucked up. They have fucked up so bad. U kno they ded. After handling the matter, she checks up on the Herald and sees that they’re alright. “I know it’s not fair and it’s not right,” she says, “but hold your head high. You are above them.”

Blackwall: He drops whatever he’s doing and immediately gets in the asshole’s face, intimidating them with little effort. The offender jumps back, obviously thinking that nothing would come of their insult, but Blackwall persists and seems to loom over them. “You need to leave. Now.” he snaps. They take off, and Blackwall turns to reassure the Herald. “Are you alright?” he asks, suddenly softer and worried. “You let me know if anyone ever says that to you again.”

Iron Bull: He stands at full height, towering over whoever said the racist thing, looking down at them with a cold, calculating eye. His shadow looms over them as they look up at the massive, furious qunari. “Do you want to repeat what you just said?” he growls before shoving them down. They scramble to their feet as his hand reaches up towards his ax. The Herald is fairly certain he was just doing it to intimidate them, nothing more, but the look in his eye was enough to make the asshole bolt.

Sera: As soon as she sees the Herald is upset, she reaches for her arrows at holds one at length in her bow. “Say that again.” she dares, glaring. They run off, but that isn’t the end of Sera’s revenge, oh no. The racist in question becomes victim to numerous, merciless pranks, and no one dares to stop her. If the offender is a noble or wealthy, she asks her Friends to help take care of them. Sera has the Herald join her– payback will make them feel better.

Varric: He pulls Bianca out and strokes the wood tenderly, looking up at the asshole calmly. “Do you have a death wish?” he starts coolly. “As soon as I tell the others that you’ve upset the Herald… well, the results won’t be pretty. For you, at least.” The person flees, and Varric scoffs before turning to the Herald, eyes soft. “You alright, kid? Don’t let them get under your skin. They’re not worth it, and you’re better than them.”

Cole: He spends more time comforting the Herald than intimidating whoever said the racist thing. He does want to kill the person who said it, if only for a moment, before remembering that’s a bad thing and won’t solve the problem. As soon as he’s finished soothing the teenager, he tells Leliana. Leliana will handle it and he’ll heal the hurt.

Solas: He thinks little of it until he sees how upset the Herald is, and he feels bad for them, especially if they’re an elf. He stares icily at the racist. “How ignorant and pathetic you must be to stoop to insulting a young person in a weak attempt to soothe your own self esteem. You will never accomplish as much as this da’len, even if you try.” His words bite and simultaneously make the kid feel better. If they try to fight him in anger, he freezes them with little effort, and a careless yawn.

Dorian: He was angry before he saw how upset the Herald was– now there’s pure rage, and it manifests itself in insults, because violence wasn’t an option. He scoffs derisively. “What a pathetic thing you are. Hurling racist insults at someone you hardly know to satisfy your need to feel bigger than someone else? Sorry to disappoint you, but even a demon of sloth is better than you. Now, run along– the spymaster’s no doubt heard about this incident already. Best sing your prayers while you still can. Ta-ta. Good day.” He checks on the Herald immediately after and reassures them repeatedly. “It’s okay now, Leliana will tear them apart for you. Anyone who stoops to such pathetic insults is even more pathetic than the insults themselves.”

Vivienne: They’ve made a terrible mistake calling the Herald such a thing in front of Madame de Fer. She gently puts a hand on the Herald’s shoulder, reassuring them softly, before sizing up the racist and ripping them to shreds with words, much like she did to the marquis the Herald met at the soiree she met them at. After they leave, thoroughly humiliated, she finds out who they are and ruins their career with an easy grace.

Josephine: She’s actually shocked at their disgrace and dishonorable actions, and she puts a protective arm around the Herald. “I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” she says stonily. “We do not want you here, not anymore, if you cannot be civilized and respectful.” If they resist, she summons the guards to handle them, and frets over the Herald– she wants to cheer them up.

Cullen: “You need to leave. Now.” he snaps, irritated. “We have no room for a racist in our midst. Get. Out.” If they do not leave immediately, he has a soldier or two forcibly escort them out. He sighs and takes time to reassure the Herald. “Don’t let them disparage you. There is nothing wrong with you. It’s them; if anyone else gives you any trouble, you let me know. I’ll have them escorted out.”

Leliana: They either didn’t notice the spymaster standing there or they were too stupid to consider their words. In either case, they have fucked up. The woman’s eyes turn cold and calculating and she steps forward with a serene grace. “Would you like to apologize to the Herald?” she asks, giving them one last chance. If they refuse– she has her agents learn everything about them and she gets to work. U kno they DEFINITELY ded.

Manspreading (Epilogue)

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4

The air was filled with the fragrance of a thousand flowers, just like it always was inside of your delivery truck, in your house, and most of all in your flower shop. They say the more frequently you smell something, you grow habituated to it and you stop registering it, and maybe that’s true but in the seven years you’ve been a florist, you have yet to take the sweet, cleansing smell for granted.

It has been a long time since you drove around delivering the bouquets yourself. You had stopped doing it ever since your small business grew a little and people started seeking you out personally for the unique designs you poured your soul into creating, and you had to hire a driver to do the delivering for you so your creative process wouldn’t get frequently interrupted.

You started this business out of passion. It was something you chose for yourself, entirely on your own, and so the sheer amount of effort that went into it never felt tiresome to you. You never made two bouquets alike, and you incorporated even the very hard to come by flowers if it meant getting your vision translated into reality just right, and so what little extra money you made -you were adamant on not overpricing your bouquets no matter how successful you got- immediately got spent on improving the little green house you bought and cared for, but that never bothered you. You weren’t in this for the money.

Even though your shop and the green house felt like your little slices of heaven, the chance to deliver some bouquets today, as suggested by Namjoon, was a lovely change of pace. You had forgotten how excited this part was, getting to see the jovial expressions on your clients faces after handing them the final product, and witnessing first-hand the happiness such a simple thing can bring to a person’s life, if even for a moment.

There was only one bouquet left to deliver, and it was the best one yet. A class of second year kindergarteners were graduating to elementary school soon and they wanted to surprise their beloved teacher with a little farewell present. That was the most precious thing you’ve ever heard and you couldn’t wait to see the surprise and happiness on the teacher’s face as the little ones proudly presented the flowers to him.

everybody was kung fu fighting!

[The Shaolin Monks] pursue spiritual peace through mastery of bare-fisted murder.  – The Simpsons, 16x12 “Goo Goo Gai Pan”

To fight is a concept with which every person on the planet is familiar. From the impoverished bowels of third-world countries to the highest echelon of wealthy societies, fighting can almost be heralded as the true universal language. People fight for what they love, against what they hate, for change, for honor, for glory, for money, to stave boredom, to get fit. Every day, wars are waged against both mental and physical obstacles to success. The most personally successful individuals are the ones who brave adversity and courageously do battle with what threatens to block or distract them from their goals.

Challenging someone to a duel is not a foreign concept in the Western world, but conditions had to be met before making such a challenge was considered socially acceptable. Bound by a set of societal mores (the essential or characteristic customs and conventions of a community, by the dictionary definition), duels were usually made over questions of personal honor. At least superficially, the point of the duel (whether it be carried out with swords, guns, or mano-a-mano) was for each participant to demonstrate a willingness to lay their life on the line for the restoration of honor, either to themselves, their families, or some entity they represented.

In the Chinese culture (the birthplace of kung fu and by proxy many hundreds of styles of martial arts), such a challenge is called gong sau, or “speak hand.” Plainly, it is a challenge made by one individual to another to test the skills of that individual’s school or style. It was often enacted in private and under relatively civilized conditions. Bruce Lee himself notably engaged in such a fight with the still-living Wong Jack Man at Lee’s school nine years before Lee’s untimely death. The fight was unrecorded and, following tradition, held in near-complete privacy. Performed in good faith, gong sau is meant to enhance a student’s knowledge base and physical versatility, not to harm or disgrace the opponent. These days, many reputable kung fu schools will actually have written policies either barring their students from challenging other schools for the sake of martial morality or greatly restricting the circumstances under which a challenge can occur. Martial arts is a business, and while injuries are common, injuries acquired by way of an outside challenge can potentially irreparably damage a school’s reputation.

So what if the challenger wishes to challenge a member of his own school? Then it is not a question of style or the skill of instruction, but of skill. When does a match between fellow students cross the line of propriety?

Martial artists live by a code set forth by their masters and the school they are trained in. In a traditional martial art like Shaolin kung fu, the mind is trained as much as the body, and attitude is tantamount to effective absorption not only of the physical material, but of the headspace critical to becoming a respected member of the school community. Those students who embody every aspect of wu de (”martial morality”) are seen as pillars of the microcosmic society that is the kung fu school. Martial arts is indeed a sub-culture of the world-at-large, operating with its own norms, rules, traditions, and mores. There is a way a martial artist is expected to behave here, and while new students typically pick it up by power of observation, elder students have been known to correct them verbally when breaches of conduct are observed. It is the duty of higher-ranking belts to do just that, politely but firmly, to school them into the appropriate role of respectful, passionate student.

Enter the Tiger

Tiger is the youngest third-degree black belt in the school, a few years my junior but two full ranks (and many chambers) my senior. I do not know the exact timeline or details of his martial arts history, but he began his kung fu training a few years ago as a child, and earned his black belt in Taekwondo before that. He is a champion wrestler and world-champion kung fu competitor numerous times over, cross-trains in groundfighting arts, and is a highly skilled sparring partner. His athletic abilities alone make him somewhat of a marvel to newer and seasoned students alike, martial skill aside. But what makes Tiger truly admirable is his humility, coolheadedness, and unwavering willingness to help any student who asks for it. About martial etiquette he maintains and encourages a historically “traditional” frame of thinking and it comes across very obviously in the way he shows deference to other instructors, treats his students, and handles conflict. Though quite serious when it comes to matters of martial propriety, Tiger is fun-loving, amicable, and always game for a round of sparring. The rest of us students love the uncommon occasions Tiger is able to break away from his personal commitments and come train for the simple reason that he is fun to watch and his great attitude makes him a highly respected, but highly accessible role model. I know of no one who has ventured to disrespect him. In fact, I know of no one who is not completely awestruck at him.

So when, one evening, a white belt walked up to Tiger and challenged him to a fight, I imagine even Tiger was himself was somewhat taken aback.

Enter the White Belt.

He’s a young man around Tiger’s age, give or take a couple years, with short, curly hair and big, shiny glasses. So fresh to the kwoon his perfectly black uniform still gleams under the fluorescent lights, he approaches Tiger and personally challenges him to a fight.

I was not present at the time, engaged in a class that was simultaneously occurring. The school was crowded with students that day, and once class ended at 7:30 that evening those who had attended flooded to the back of the school, on their way to locker rooms or the carpet to stretch. As I walked by, equally purposed, I saw Tiger kneeling on the floor, the white belt’s head between his legs, the rest of him all but immobilized as he struggled to buck Tiger off. Tiger, of course, looked as calm and collected as ever, if not slightly irked. Having no picture of what was occurring, as I had just entered the situation, I only got the impression that this wasn’t a usual sparring match.

Fascinated, I reached out to Tiger after the fervor had died down to try and figure out what had happened.

Goat (me): He challenged you?

Tiger: Yes, he did. The issue I had with him was that I specifically told him there was a difference between sparring and challenging someone. I made it clear that if he wanted to spar I would… make it a learning experience. But if he’s asking for a challenge, it’s completely different.

In a martial arts community, I agree wholeheartedly: vernacular is important. Challenging someone seems to imply that the challenger wishes to do the other person some degree of harm to prove a point, barring defense of honor, which was not the context here.

Tiger: I told him that it was inappropriate for him to actually challenge someone at the school, especially at his rank and lack of skill. Said that at this point, he should be seeking help and guidance rather than walking around challenging black belts.

Which is apparently exactly what the young man had been doing. Prior to making his fatal mistake with Tiger, he challenged Monkey, Horse, and a handful of other notable students. With no previous martial arts training except for some summers spent with a grandfather who was apparently proficient in some form of Aikido, he really never stood a chance.

Goat: Challenging someone to get better sounds exactly like some old-fashioned school-of-hard-knocks bullshit instilled by an overbearing (or at least misguided) father figure.

Monkey, Dragon, and I got on the subject of the challenge while hanging out at home a few nights later. It was then I first found out the white belt had been challenging other black belts; Monkey revealed he’d been issued (and accepted) a similar challenge, as had Horse. Monkey, naturally, prevailed in the match. I was surprised to hear that after losing to two successive second-degree black belts the young man would bother trying to win against a third-degree, but then, a lack of logic had already proven a recurring theme. Dragon, interestingly, had not been challenged, and expressed rhetorical curiosity as to why. To me, it was glaringly obvious: either he hadn’t gotten around to it, or (more likely), the student was shying from Dragon because, well, Dragon’s a big, scary-looking motherfucker. Tiger and Horse are both of average height and relatively unassuming standing a crowd of students. Monkey is tall but thin. I speculated that the white belt had shown at least some intelligence picking opponents with a body type most similar to his own. Tiger, Horse, and Monkey may have all presented the illusion of being equally manageable.

When I had the chance to introduce myself to the young man (I try to do this with all new students), he told me that Tiger reminded him of his grandfather, who was a “fighter,” but seemed hesitant to share more with me, perhaps still shamed from his encounter with the black belt. Still, he kept a smile on his face when I asked him if he’d learned anything, replying yes, I got a lesson in vernacular. Before taking my leave, I asked him if he was still on his quest to challenge black belts to fights and he shook his head abashedly.

Tiger’s account describes giving the kid a chance to rescind, or at least to re-consider what exactly he was asking for. As always, Tiger extended the offer to spar, to help coach the young man about technique while in a practice hand-to-hand scenario, but the white belt was relentless, insisting on a “challenge.” With his great reverence for martial etiquette at the helm, as well as the honor of the school in his hands, Tiger acted in defense of both and allowed the engagement. It didn’t last long, and while Tiger was not cruel, hurtful, or punitive, he did not show mercy with his technique nor offered any of the usual encouragement or helpful criticism that a student would be blessed to receive from him in the course of a training match.

Tiger: A challenge is a questioning. It questions my rank, my skill, my training and, most of all, my teachers. As a direct representative of their teachers, a martial artist can not take a challenge lying down. Some people might see that as an old-school mentality (the entire idea of someone challenging a martial artist is, by itself, pretty old-school), but I take it very seriously.

(Tiger, center, earning his third-degree sash last year.)

In researching modern opinions on gong sau (though this incident doesn’t completely align with the definition) I came across numerous opinions about the subject. Perhaps common-sensically, many martial artists advise against it unless certain criteria are met and rules set in place governing the fight. The best advice I read was simply this: just don’t go looking for a fight, because eventually you will find one and it will not end well. Moreover, it seems to me that if one’s mindset is so narrow and linear that it drives an individual to believing the best way to achieve the goal of becoming a great fighter is to continually challenge fighters of much higher skill, that student would be more suited to a Muay Thai or boxing gym than a kung fu school.

“The most dangerous time for any student of any discipline is when the student is at a point where ambition outreaches skill. This will serve to keep the student training, but can result in some harsh lessons.” - anonymous

Needless to say, I’m keeping an interested eye on the white belt’s development.

S/N : sister’s name

Here I am.. At yet another stupid party filled with even stupider people. I wonder if my sister ever gets tired of me tagging along with her everywhere, but then again she doesn’t really give me a choice. I found out about this party exactly an hour ago, not giving me much time to change clothes or put on makeup. I knew that S/N would make me stay with her until she found Kol and then I’d be able to sneak off.

Speaking of Kol, it feels as if he’s been avoiding me. I can’t really blame him, our last conversation must have been super weird for him. The room my sister and I were in smelled of alcohol and smoke. I knew some of the people here, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to talk to them. S/N has been trying to carry on a conversation with me but the music was so loud I couldn’t understand her.

And then I saw him. He just entered the room, S/N hasn’t noticed him yet. Through the smoke I saw his eyes trail over every face until they connected with mine. He quickly looked away but started walking in my direction. I realize, now more than ever, that I need to get over him before someone notices how my eyes linger on him perhaps a few seconds too long. How a small smile instantly finds its way to my face whenever he’s near. Or how quickly I look away when he kisses my sister.

DA4 Survey Results

What we’d like to see in the next Dragon Age game

We had almost 600 replies by the time I put this together, so not a large group, but a lot more than I thought I’d get to do my little survey. There were 18 questions about story and gameplay and I will discuss the most popular options, per question, and will add my own opinions. I’ll also discuss anything mentioned under the ‘other’ option for questions, if enough people mentioned similar ideas.

If you like to add anything to the discussion feel free to do so! (And of course feel free to reblog regardless.) I’ll link to previous posts of mine if I’ve already discussed something (as this post is already very long).

Tiny disclaimer: I love DA:I, I’ve played through it many, many times, but as this survey is contrasting DA:I with DA4, it’s going to be critical of DA:I. After all, a lot of questions were about what we want to see improved. That doesn’t mean there’s nothing I love about DA:I, but it’s just not what this post is about. If I say something you feel is unfair towards DA:I, please feel free to add a rebuttal. When I compare it to other games, I’m also not saying those games are perfect; they’re just examples of what I’d like to see in DA4, that I think a lot of us will be familiar with.

1.      Time

A direct sequel, with no time jump was most popular (40% of the votes).

I could probably see the game also working if there were a few years in between, giving the (former) Inquisition some time to build their forces, but as a direct sequel it could be fun building the forces ourselves and having a system like ME3 (minus the multiplayer tie-in), where you can go into the final mission whenever you want, but if you haven’t built your forces you’re going to get your ass kicked.

In fact this was something I thought was severely lacking in DA:I; there were basically no consequences connected to what kind of forces you had going into the final battle – not counting Corypheus final fight. Like the first time I played DA:I I actually let the Wardens stay because I felt we could use all the help we could get, and it was worth the risk of them being controlled still, but none of it matters, nor affects the final battle. Same with the ‘who rules Orlais’ question: it does not matter.

(And no, end slides don’t count: we don’t see them played out and they can be retconned next game if needed.)

2.      The Protagonist

Duel protagonist – specified as the Inquisitor and a new character - got the most votes (43.8% of the votes). I think I’ve been pretty vocal about wanting the Inquisitor back, but I quite like the idea of duel protagonists.

The question would be how would you divide the time between the two? 50/50? Or more like The Witcher 3, where you only play as Ciri for key parts of her story?

The only thing I think is tricky, is the fact that the (former) Inquisitor is leading the small band of people/ the Inquisition in preparing for the battle against Solas, so how are you going to make the new character feel important? Maybe they could be someone recruited by the Inquisitor to start a new faction in Tevinter, recruiting these  ‘people Solas doesn’t know’ we hear about in Trespasser? And in game you have to build forces on both fronts to be able to defeat Solas’ army?

3.      The Antagonist

Most people want to fight Solas (59,9%), and I am not surprised! Personally I hope we have to fight Solas, or fight to redeem him. I think I’ve made it clear about how I’d like Solas’ redemption to go. What I mainly hope for the antagonist, is that they’re a well-developed character whose side you can see and understand, that’s much more interesting than ‘this is the baddie,’ and frankly what I missed in Corypheus (also, his dialogue was so cringy).

Also, I hope we don’t only have to fight the antagonist’s agents but also the Qunari OR Tevinter: as in, at some point in the main story we will have to choose sides and it will actually matter. AND wouldn’t it be cool if the choice you had to make in Iron Bull’s personal quest in DA:I had some consequences in this game, I mean something that gives you an edge, so it is a serious option to consider? So that killing the Chargers isn’t the pointless option as it is now (because as I hear it, you get nothing for it and it doesn’t even help you with the Qunari in Trespasser).

It is tempting to have the possibility to make peace between the Qunari and Tevinter (much like between the Geth and the Quarians in ME3), but I’m not sure how believable that would be, considering how the Qunari view people outside of the Qun. (Can’t say much about Tevinter yet.)

What could also be interesting is that you have to work your way through the ranks (Shadow of Mordor comes to mind), where you have to take out Solas’ agents, first low-ranking agents, then the higher ups, until you reach Solas. And that every agent you take out is a character with some story to them.

Quite a few people who chose the ‘other’ option (which made up 9% of the answers), wanted Solas to be the initial protagonist, but have a bigger threat show up later. Personally I really don’t, because they’ve set up Solas as being a huge threat, and it would just feel like they weren’t following through.

How this could work is if Solas is the antagonist of this game and then when he brings down the veil at the end of the game (if it even happens), we have a nice cliffhanger that now the Evanuris are going to be the new big threat, with some suggestion that they’re even more powerful than Solas (whose magic in Trespasser was pretty terrifying). Or maybe the Titans?

Cullen isn’t just a pretty face or a trope to use at your expense. UNDERSTAND THAT.

He’s been broken, so very broken by everything he’s experienced, but a piece of him that wishes to glue the rest back together exists within and encourages him to be a better person. Even post-Inquisition, he’s still a work in progress.

He’s loyal. He’ll never take your trust for granted, even if you break his heart and/or his trust and leave him in doubt. He has faith in you to make the best decisions, even if it puts him in jeopardy - because he’s made mistakes, and he understands that his way isn’t always the best. It takes a lot of effort for him to trust others, but when they have it, he’s not one to let it dissolve easily. He’ll follow you without question.

He’s selfless. He looks out for what’s best for others before anything, putting his life and sanity at risk just to show he can do so much more than asked of him. If it comes down to it, he’ll go mad just to prove that he wants to give all he can to help in whatever way possible.

He’s brave. It takes a lot of courage to handle an addiction and deal with the repercussions of it, all while leading an army to the best of your abilities. Even then, he goes nights without sleep - ensuring his duty comes before himself. He battles demons on a regular basis, but doesn’t let that affect him or his work. In some cases, he faces these internal battles all on his own - but it makes him stronger, in the end.

He’s stubborn. The man was stuck in his ways for years, and that renders him a brick wall in some cases. That being said, he’s still open to listen, to take into consideration other means of getting a job done. He’s not daft. He understands the world far better than most give him credit for. He’s a tactical planner and advisor, and he didn’t get his position on a whim.

He’s loving, and has so much love to offer. For years he believed himself incapable of being cared for, but when you tell him you love him, it’s like heaven itself in his eyes. He won’t take your love for granted, he’ll do anything in his power to show you just how much he cares, whether it be holding your hand or kissing you senseless. Even if you break his heart, he’ll still be supportive of you without question, because deep down he’ll always love you, even if you didn’t reciprocate it.

Cullen isn’t just a pretty face or a trope, he’s so much more than that. Please, if you love him as a character, REALLY consider such for a moment.

Baka-akuma problems or Azanina talks [2]

Yeah, the new episode wasn’t so productive for our ship. However, I have some things that kinda bother me. I saw some reactions like: “Azazel betrayed Nina, he can’t keep secrets, and he will be a true evil of this season”. Therefore, I decided to write a post about a bad guy who isn’t so bad like it seems. Still it’s just a my opinion.

I try to be honest and look at the situation from Azazel’s view. It’s obvious that he can’t fight alone anymore. He was near to die last time. The king knows his face. The Rag Demon should disappear. However, who will help demons? Who will save them from the cruel humans? Who can give a guarantee that Charioce will not make a provocation like murdering some demons? Azazel don’t have a time to hesitate, he needs alliance, that’s why he comes back to his demons bros.

The behavior towards demons gets worse. The people treat with the indifference towards them. Slaves are just slaves. It was pretty shown when Nina try to protect demons on the street. An indifference or just a fear.

Azazel knows it and tries to bring a “golden age” back. When demons were strong enough to play with human life. When demons were free. However, look at his plan. Only two points: slay a human king and destroy his secret power. Nothing about kill all humans, destroy their town, and make them slaves. Yeah, he said: “I will teach a lesson to those, who celebrate Cocytus fall”. Maybe all it was implied but… He didn’t say it directly.

It reminds me that in this season Azazel never attacked ordinary people, who did nothing wrong. Only cruel slavers and knights who tried to kill him were killed. This Azazel saved a strange girl Nina too. It looks like he forgot about his bloodthirstiness. Or it’s only a current behavior?

The demons, being smart guys, ask him what he has to fight with people. Unfortunately, Azazel can’t answer — “Myself!” A potential demon’s squad needs good guarantees. It’s time for one’s best card — a red dragon’s power! However, why? Nina didn’t give him her permission to use her like this, yeah?

Here is another big Azazel’s mistake. Remember last episode. Nina said that she isn’t useful for demons revolution because she can’t control her power. A soft “no”. However, Azazel is sure that all be daijōbu, he helps her to control herself. “Let me embrace you and turn you into a dragon”. It’s an offer, not an order. But Nina run away mumbling something about weird things without any answer. Silence gives consent. Vivat Azazel’s logic!

By the fact, Azazel still keeps Nina’s secret. He didn’t even say that dragon is a girl. Moreover, Nina asked him only about not telling someone how she turns into a dragon. For now, Azazel keeps his word. He is one of the honest characters after all. Nina knew that he wants to use her power at the beginning, cause he at once said it to her.

Knowing all this she don’t fear him. Azazel yelled at her before, made her troubles, offered “make love” things, but Nina talks about him like about a good a little weird friend. She calls an evil and dangerous demon baka-akuma, lol. In her eyes, he isn’t a bad guy. He showed her a truth about demon’s pain and now she herself try to help other demons without using her dragon power.

For now, I can’t see that Azazel will turn into an antagonist. Too much people trust him: Nina, Mugaro, Kaisar, even Rita. He isn’t a typical kind protagonist, yeah; he is an ex-villain, he has his pride, revenge, his own goal like make demons great again. It’s more important for him then Nina’s safety. However, things change with the time. We all feel that Azazel’s plan isn’t a good idea. He obviously will fall and then I hope get a big development. Well, will see~

“There’s no magic in the woods.” Mira’s voice was steady as her father’s brows drew together.  She was sure hers were moving similarly as her lips turned to a frown. “You can’t tell us not to go into the woods because talk of apostates running wild in the trees is circulating the village.  That’s ridiculous.”

This is something that the previously mentioned Simone has requested and I’m rather glad she did - it was an entertaining challenge. It’s a character I haven’t written before so some research was required too. However, after some extensive YouTube searches and Googling, I managed to produce this Gambit x Reader. Enjoy!

“Play the Game”

“I’m so sorry,” Professor Storm explained, “But we had other focuses at the time and didn’t notice our mistake. We don’t have any female dormitories left. Unfortunately you’ll have to share with one of our male students.” In the school’s defence, student accommodation would be the last thing on someone’s mind if they were trying to save the world simultaneously. As angry as you wanted to be, you were somewhat adept at controlling your rage – you had to be.
“That’s fine, Professor. I’ll manage.” You smiled.

You mother had realised you were a mutant from a young age but had been surprisingly accepting of you. She had grown up with a learning disability that often made her feel excluded, allowing her to sympathise. Your father on the other hand had abandoned you both upon finding out about your “abnormality”. So when Charles Xavier approached you about honing your skills at his School for the Gifted and Talented, your mother was reluctant. However, a little encouragement and the promise that you would return often persuaded her to let you to go. What you didn’t count on was this situation being your welcoming gift.

You walked into your room to see a man lying casually on a bed.
“You lost there, darlin’?” He said whilst twisting a playing card between his fingers – the ace of spades, you noticed.
“Believe me, I wish I was.”

Solas/The Darkling Parallels

aka all I have been thinking about for the last 24 hours (100000% @anythingtomakeyoustay ‘s fault)

1) Quasi-immortal magic user

2) Secretly a mythical/folkloric figure of BADNESS in their respective worlds

3)Currently trying to reestablish a home/take back a home for his people (the grisha/the ancient elves)

4)Made a large, magic barrier (The Veil, The Unsea) both were theoretically made in the service of a greater good

5) Reluctantly attracted to Alina/Lavellan, a younger person with unique magic abilities that has been thrust into a position of political+literal power (who also shoots light out of their hand to close rifts/folds)

6)Once had a proper name (Solas/Aleksander) but adopted a Title somewhere in the line of their life when they become larger than themselves (Fen’Harel/The Darkling)

7) A lying liar who lies about who he is/his intentions/almost everything

8)Is responsible in some way for Alina/Lavellan coming in to her powers (explosion at conclave->gets the mark; gives her a lot of amplifiers) and also needs the protags power to reverse their mistake (the Breach or the Unsea) and accomplish their long-term goals

9) Backstory includes wanting to free his people from servitude/danger (again, elves v the evanuris or grisha v the rest of the world)

10) that “Fine, make me your villain” attitude

11) Romantic Dream/Fade visits

12)Different contexts, but “Know that I loved you and know that it was not enough” fits painfully with both their narratives

13) Kills his actual mom or his “All-Mother” friend

14) Has been alone for a long time, and will probably always be alone. Both canonically Afraid of dying alone.

15) Willing to kill generally whoever/whatever is standing in the way of their ultimate goal

Okay, so, I stepped into the Iron Bull tag, which given my current introspective mood (I’ve been drafting parts of Prodigal and it always leaves me thinking about Bull’s nature when I do that) was probably a mistake.

Because now I’m gonna write what I’ve been trying to put into words since the Bull tag started exploding.

Obs. beyond this point are spoilers for Trespasser. I realise my blog hasn’t been spoiler-free at all these past few days (I’m excited dammmit!) But I’ve been trying to tag and warn everything, and keep it solely to the text post. That said, if you do not want to be spoilt, do not read this post.

Okay, here we go.

Rating: M (future fluff and smut, mild language)

Summary:  MC has exciting news to tell Zen and the other RFA members. That is until the MC gets a shock from Zen. MC finds comfort in a close friend, Jumin Han.

Authors Note: Thank you for all the support I received on posting my first fic!

I decided to start where I left off because I really wanted to go into Jumin Han and MC relationship in the missing 4 years. If  anyone has really good ideas or advice on how to write really good smut without it being really awkward and cheesy I would LOVE to hear from you! Updates might be slow because I’m a working college student but I have a few ideas already drafted out!

This is the first sequel to THE LONG DARK. It will make a lot more sense if you read that story first. Pain or love or danger
makes you real again.

     — Jack Kerouac

On the slopes of Erebor, spring was slowly edging into summer. Verdant moss and lichen of all descriptions covered the rock walls, wildflowers bloomed in the deep valleys and peeked out from underneath craggy monoliths.

The dwarves from Thorin’s Company had been floating the idea of a hiking trip with varied degrees of enthusiasm for ages. All of them were eager for a taste of those golden days when they only had to worry about orcs and wargs and a distant dragon rather than mining discipline, or dealing with human merchants, or any number of small nuisances that emerged when somebody took thousands of stubborn dwarves from different clans and made them live together in an enclosed space.

When Ori had offered to organize an outing for the Company, including such pastimes as bathing in a frigid mountain lake, doing a spot of hunting, and sleeping under the stars like free males (and one female) unfettered by the chains of duty, he’d met with enthusiastic agreement. As the months progressed and the daily nuisances ground on everyone’s nerves more and more, the promised outing became the single ray of hope in a tedious existence for the former members of the Company. It had many names: Get Me Out Of The Mountain Before I Kill Somebody Over Invoices was only one of them. If I Have To Mediate One More Bloody Dispute About Goats I Shall Raze This Mountain To The Ground, See If I Don’t, was Thorin’s version. There were other, more creative ones in Khuzdûl. Your ears had gone very red when Thorin had attempted a rough translation.

All in all, you were happy and looking forward to the future.
