Ugh, I pined over these so much when I was somewhere around 14. I saw them in the Hallmark store in the mall and I took the little catalog/brochure thing and I just loved looking at them and imagining the kinds of fantasy worlds they could be part of. I eventually ended up with a bunch of cheap knock-offs that were in a much larger scale, and I loved those (and touched them up often, as these things are made of a kind of plaster–they predate the days of knickknacks like this being made of resin.) They all ended up in a shoe box for years before I decided to donate them, probably 15 years ago.
When I saw these in a thrift store the other day, teenage-me was excited, and then I saw they were 99¢ each and I didn’t hesitate…especially since one still had its original price tag
(that’s why I never owned one way back when.)
OK, yeah, I did hesitate a bit, after I grabbed them, asking myself if I really wanted little dust catchers like these in my life now, especially since getting them was based purely on not-getting them when I was a kid. But, then, I wondered if Husband could use them for very-small-scale tabletop gaming, and, when he saw them, he declared they’d be good for that even before I said that’s (part of) why I bought them…
