“Oh, Spencer took that one...”

so i read @reidbyers’s ask post about librarians and spencer and while reading it, this sentence caught my attention: “sometimes he takes so many books out that a lot of the time people come in looking for a certain book and they have to be like sorry…spencer took that one and 21 more.” and it gave me an idea/insp for a small little one shot, so thanks @wheresthewater and @reidbyers for unknowingly giving me this idea! also i’m so sorry if this feels rushed!

While studying to get your doctorate in Psychology, you were fortunate enough to have every book you need for all of your classes at your fingertips, whether having your parents supply them for you or finding links to it online. While writing a paper, you noticed the assignment had some references from your very early Intro to Psych book. You realized quickly that you were going to need to go to the library; you had since given that book to a nice underclassman.

You didn’t mind, but occasionally, a book you wanted to check out would be gone and they always said the same thing.

“Sorry honey, it looks like Spencer has that book out at the moment.”

“Well it looks like Dr. Reid has that book.”

“Yup. Spencer again.”

It seemed like every time you needed a book from the library, Dr. Spencer Reid would check it out before you. The three main, kind elderly librarians found it amusing every time you mentioned a book he had checked out. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think they were conspiring against you.

Sighing, you grabbed your shoulder bag and keys and made your way out of your brick brownstone apartment building. “If this Spencer has my book this time, I might just scream…” You muttered to yourself as you walked down the street. Luckily the library was only a few blocks from your place. You could smell the air and could tell it was going to rain. You picked up your pace.

Walking in the large building, you smelled the books and smiled.

“Well hi, baby, what’re you looking for?” Came from Franny, your favorite librarian, knowing your routine by now.

“Hi Franny,” you grinned at her. “Do you have this book?” You handed her a crumbled piece of paper with the title of the book on it.

“Hmm,” Franny entered the title in her desktop and smiled knowingly. “I’m sorry hone–”

“Let me guess,” you rolled your eyes.

“Spencer has it,” you both said in unison. One cheerfully, and one tired. You guess who’s who.

“God, I’d love to give this Spencer a piece of my mind,” you shook your head. “He consistently checks out every book I want and I actually need this one!” You exclaimed.

“What for?” Franny asked.

“It’s my final. Our professor decided against a test final and just gave us a paper final. It counts for over half our grade and I know if I use the material in this book, I know I’ll ace that final…you see, I’m gonna make a callback reference to our intro to psycho book that’s gonna tie up my entire paper in a cute little bow.” You rambled, a bad habit you’ve gained whenever you become desperate for something. “I’m sorry,” you said. “You probably didn’t need to hear this, Franny.” You shook your head. “I’ll just check back tomorrow,” you turned and left quickly.

If you looked back, you’d seen Franny pursing her lips, pick up the phone, and dial a number. “Hi Spencer. It’s Franny. I’m sorry to bother you but I have a need for a book you checked out.”

You chewed on your lip as you walked into the library for the third day in a row. You weren’t expecting the book to be there today or any other day, but you had to at least check. Especially since your paper was due in three days. You inhaled as the familiar smell reached you again, a smile on your face, placating you for the time being. Today at the desk, was Esther, a particularly nosy woman.

“Hi Esther, any luck today?” You asked, already knowing the answer.

“Actually, maybe!” She answered you. “Spencer is coming by today to drop off some books and pick some up, so maybe your book will be in the bunch!” She offered.

You raised your eyebrow. “With my luck, probably not. But I finally get to meet this allusive Spencer.” You took a seat at the bench next to the main desk where the librarians worked and pulled out your laptop. It was a normal seat for you whenever you wanted to spend time at the library.

“Do you want some lemon bars, sweetie?” Esther, the known cook of the three main librarians, placed two lemon bars next to you.

“Thank you, Esther,” you grinned thankfully at her.

Deep into your studies, you didn’t noticed that an hour had gone past or that the other two librarians, Franny and Dorothy snuck in.

“Is he comin’?” Dorothy, with her deep southern accent, asked.

“Yes, Dorothy. He told me he’d be here at 4:15 and that boy never lies to me,” Esther replied, rolling her eyes.

“You sure this is gonna work?” Franny asked, pushing her gray curls aside. “What if they don’t like each other?”

“Fran, those two couldn’t be a better match. My Henry (God rest his soul) told me I had a knack for seeing lovers,” Esther nodded.

“That’s cuz you were always putting your nose in places it shouldn’t be –” Franny began to rebut but was interrupted by Dorothy.

“Shhh, he’s coming!”

Sure enough, walking to the desk was Dr. Spencer Reid of the BAU. Trademark cardigan, scarf, and shoulder bag on. “Hi ladies, is something special going on? It’s rare to see you all here at the same time. Although I get the library’s newsletter sent to me every month and I didn’t see any events happening today to warrant you all here at the same time today.” He began to ramble.

“Oh Spencer, don’t you worry about us,” Franny waved him off.

At the mention of the familiar name, your head popped up.

“I see you’re returning some books. May I check them in for you? Y/N here has been needing one you might have for quite some time now,” Dorothy grabbed the books from Spencer’s hand and slid them over to Esther. “Now leave us old ladies be to check these back in.” She shooed him away.

“So you’re the famous Spencer Reid,” you said as you saw him approach the bench next to you. “I’m not sure if its a pleasure to meet you or not,” you crossed your arms over your chest.

“Excuse me?” Spencer was taken aback. He saw you and blinked. You were beautiful. His mouth went dry, his heart stuttered, he felt a wave of adrenaline rush through him.

You couldn’t help yourself. No matter how good looking he turned out to be, you thought to yourself. The rage built. “Every time I want to check out a book from here, you always have it, every single time! And sometimes you keep the books for months on end!” You huffed.

“Statistically, that’s impossible. There’s no possible way that every single time you need a book, I somehow have it,” Spencer challenged. Your voice sounded beautiful to his ears. He wanted to hear more of it. At least when it wasn’t filled with anger.

“Ladies?” You asked the librarians, without turning your back from Spencer.

“Yup.”

“Mhm.”

“Every single time.” Came their replies.

“…” Spencer had no reply to the three snarky librarians.

“Hmm,” you smirked at Spencer.

“I’m sorry,” Spencer said sincerely. “I didn’t know. If I did, I would’ve eagerly give you the books you needed.” I’d give you anything you want or need, his thoughts said, catching him off guard.

“Oh.” Your heart stuttered. He’s so sweet. And handsome. And obviously he reads since he consistently checks books out from here. And you weren’t expecting this response from him. You were fully expecting him to be this alpha male with a bunch of bravado. “W-well, thank you.”

“What book did you need so urgently that Franny called me?” Spencer couldn’t help but ask, the profiler in him begging to do so. The man in him, curious to hear more from her.

You told him the title. “I need it for my final paper. I-I’m getting my doctorate in psychology and I need it for one of my classes.”

“Spencer has three PhDs,” Esther added, boasting.

“Esther, hush,” Franny smacked her shoulder. “Let the kids do it by themselves,” she whispered to her.

“Three?” You were impressed. “Wow. You’d have to be kind of a genius to have three PhDs.” You said non nonchalantly.

“Well, certifiably, I am a genius. I have an IQ of 185 and can read 20,000 words per minute and have an eidetic memory, but I don’t necessarily like to call myself a genius,” Spencer bashfully said.

“Whoa…” You breathed. “But you’re totally one. A wonderful, brilliant genius,” the statement accidentally slipped out of your mouth and you blushed.

Spencer laughed, blushing as well. “Thank you.”

You and Spencer engaged in small talk during the time the librarians were checking in more books. In the back of your mind, you were wondering why they were taking so long. They never take this long. But in your Spencer filled haze, you didn’t care. You smiled at each other, both of you taking in the beauty of each other’s smiles. You quickly moved your stuff aside for him to take a seat next to you on the bench. He quickly glanced at your laptop and instantly read part of your paper. The topic quickly jumped to psychology which jumped into talking about people’s minds, which, thanks to Spencer, jumped to odd facts. You were amazing by this man and all he had to offer. He had given you some extra facts to put into your paper.

Meanwhile, the librarians were smiling at the two of you, silently cheering you both on. The women had never seen Spencer smile as large as he did with you and you had never opened up so quickly to another person. It took even Esther a few months before you even gave her a smile.

From then on, you and Spencer had a standing date at the library. In your bench. Occasionally Spencer would check out a book you’d randomly mentioned before just to rile you up. He was never able to live down the encounter that caused you to meet. While studying one night, Spencer rushed into the library and planted a kiss on your lips, changing your relationship with that. While he made the first move in your relationship, you made the first move in the bedroom. He was scared of his inexperience and you talked him through it. He proved to be a quick learner and with him reading smut novels for experiences and ideas in the bed, you were never ever unsatisfied.

You both adopted a dog, which you named Esther because of the dog’s keen sense of smell. Esther found it hilarious and promptly kissed you both on the cheek. “About time you named something after me! I’d better get a baby named after me!” She cackled.

The team noticed he was always happier and sometimes would walk in with his hair and ties ruffled. Luke could’ve sworn he saw a hickie on Spencer’s neck during a case. When he asked the boy genius about it, he immediately blushed at the memory.

“I want to try something,” you said shyly one night.

“What?” Spencer smiled, holding you in his lap. He furrowed his brow at your shyness. You’d gotten over that long before.

“I know you have sensory issues, but…I just want you to feel. Don’t think, but feel,” you told him as you wrapped your arms around him.

“I don–” He was cut off by you kissing his neck. He laughed, “Y/N, I have no problem with you kissing my — oh.” He felt a wet vacuum on his neck. He could feel your tongue working on his neck, the feeling new to him. It caused a stirring in his body. The same stirring he got when he was aroused. He couldn’t help himself as he grabbed your face and kissed you.

“Spence, I wasn’t done!” You exclaimed.

Spencer quickly removed your shirt. “And I’m just getting started,” he smiled.

Time passed quickly, yet slowly in your relationship. You were both so happy together. You didn’t know if you could be happier. He had come to your graduation, where you first met the team. They were suspicious and thought he relapsed so they followed him to you. The team loved you instantly. You quickly became a part of the family. JJ and Derek often called you and Spencer to baby sit. You kept your standing date at the library, even though you had no need of studying anymore. The three librarians always happy to see you both.

One day you went to the library to see all of them there. That never happened. Unless, like Spencer said the day you met, there was an event. And you knew there wasn’t. “What’re you ladies doing here?” You asked cheerfully.

“Oh no reason, darlin’,” Dorothy told you, looking like the cat who swallowed the canary. Actually, they all looked like that.

To your surprise, Spencer proposed to you. In that library. On that bench. The squeals from the ladies were deafening. You swore they cheered even louder than Spencer’s team at your wedding. They each made long toasts, the guests confused at first. Esther’s was full of details you both hadn’t known she knew. “Nosy old bat,” Franny had said. Esther had the entire room cackle with laughter. Dorothy’s speech was filled with many, many southern phrasings and accounts of key moments of your relationship which she was witness to. She was always the one you came to during struggles in your relationship. And Franny’s was filled with wisdom, love, and hope. She was the one who orchestrated your first meeting.

No one was surprised, however, when you became pregnant immediately after your wedding; the both of you eager to start a family. Everyone was surprised when your water broke in that fateful library. On your bench. While Spencer panicked and called, in order, the team, then the ambulance. Luckily the three ladies had all enrolled in midwifery quickly after your first meeting and helped you deliver your first child, Diana Dorothy, in that library. On your bench.

You were happy to inform Esther, a year after giving birth to your first son, that his first word was ‘Esther’. “This is better than having a baby named after me!” She hooted.

Unfortunately, with the times, the three ladies eventually passed. Esther first, Dorothy quickly after, then Franny held on long enough to see the birth of your third child, a girl you’d decided to call Francis Esther. In each of the ladies’ will, there was one statement that remained the same. “Give the library bench to Drs. Spencer and Y/N Reid. It has always been theirs.”

That bench sat in the library of your home with Spencer, underneath a beautiful window where you’d told your children stories of the three ladies who were responsible for everything they knew.

What are other books/series that you'd recommend that are in the same vein as Animorphs?

Honestly, your ask inspired me to get off my butt and finally compile a list of the books that I reference with my character names in Eleutherophobia, because in a lot of ways that’s my list of recommendations right there: I deliberately chose children’s and/or sci-fi stories that deal really well with death, war, dark humor, class divides, and/or social trauma for most of my character names.  I also tend to use allusions that either comment on Animorphs or on the source work in the way that the names come up.

That said, here are The Ten Greatest Animorphs-Adjacent Works of Literature According to Sol’s Totally Arbitrary Standards:

1. A Ring of Endless Light, Madeline L’Engle

  • This is a really good teen story that, in painfully accurate detail, captures exactly what it’s like to be too young to really understand death while forced to confront it anyway.  I read it at about the same age as the protagonist, not that long after having suffered the first major loss in my own life (a friend, also 14, killed by cancer).  It accomplished exactly what a really good novel should by putting words to the experiences that I couldn’t describe properly either then or now.  This isn’t a light read—its main plot is about terminal illness, and the story is bookended by two different unexpected deaths—but it is a powerful one.

2. The One and Only Ivan, K.A. Applegate

  • This prose novel (think an epic poem, sort of like The Iliad, only better) obviously has everything in it that makes K.A. Applegate one of the greatest children’s authors alive: heartbreaking tragedy, disturbing commentary on the human condition, unforgettably individuated narration, pop culture references, and poop jokes.  Although I’m mostly joking when I refer to Marco in my tags as “the one and only” (since this book is narrated by a gorilla), Ivan does remind me of Marco with his sometimes-toxic determination to see the best of every possible situation when grief and anger allow him no other outlet for his feelings and the terrifying lengths to which he will go in order to protect his found family.

3. My Teacher Flunked the Planet, Bruce Coville

  • Although the entire My Teacher is an Alien series is really well-written and powerful, this book is definitely my favorite because in many ways it’s sort of an anti-Animorphs.  Whereas Animorphs (at least in my opinion) is a story about the battle for personal freedom and privacy, with huge emphasis on one’s inner identity remaining the same even as one’s physical shape changes, My Teacher Flunked the Planet is about how maybe the answer to all our problems doesn’t come from violent struggle for personal freedoms, but from peaceful acceptance of common ground among all humans.  There’s a lot of intuitive appeal in reading about the protagonists of a war epic all shouting “Free or dead!” before going off to battle (#13) but this series actually deconstructs that message as blind and excessive, especially when options like “all you need is love” or “no man is an island” are still on the table.

4. Moon Called, Patricia Briggs

  • I think this book is the only piece of adult fiction on this whole list, and that’s no accident: the Mercy Thompson series is all about the process of adulthood and how that happens to interact with the presence of the supernatural in one’s life.  The last time I tried to make a list of my favorite fictional characters of all time, it ended up being about 75% Mercy Thompson series, 24% Animorphs, and the other 1% was Eugenides Attolis (who I’ll get back to in my rec for The Theif).  These books are about a VW mechanic, her security-administrator next door neighbor, her surgeon roommate, her retail-working best friend and his defense-lawyer boyfriend, and their cybersecurity frenemy.  The fact that half those characters are supernatural creatures only serves to inconvenience Mercy as she contemplates how she’s going to pay next month’s rent when a demon destroyed her trailer, whether to get married for the first time at age 38 when doing so would make her co-alpha of a werewolf pack, what to do about the vampires that keep asking for her mechanic services without paying, and how to be a good neighbor to the area ghosts that only she can see.

5. The Thief, Megan Whalen Turner

  • This book (and its sequel A Conspiracy of Kings) are the ones that I return to every time I struggle with first-person writing and no Animorphs are at hand.  Turner does maybe the best of any author I’ve seen of having character-driven plots and plot-driven characters.  This book is the story of five individuals (with five slightly different agendas) traveling through an alternate version of ancient Greece and Turkey with a deceptively simple goal: they all want to work together to steal a magical stone from the gods.  However, the narrator especially is more complicated than he seems, which everyone else fails to realize at their own detriment.

6. Homecoming, Cynthia Voight

  • Critics have compared this book to a modern, realistic reimagining of The Boxcar Children, which always made a lot of sense to me.  It’s the story of four children who must find their own way from relative to relative in an effort to find a permanent home, struggling every single day with the question of what they will eat and how they will find a safe place to sleep that night.  The main character herself is one of those unforgettable heroines that is easy to love even as she makes mistake after mistake as a 13-year-old who is forced to navigate the world of adult decisions, shouldering the burden of finding a home for her family because even though she doesn’t know what she’s doing, it’s not like she can ask an adult for help.  Too bad the Animorphs didn’t have Dicey Tillerman on the team, because this girl shepherds her family through an Odysseus-worthy journey on stubbornness alone.

7. High Wizardry, Diane Duane

  • The Young Wizards series has a lot of good books in it, but this one will forever be my favorite because it shows that weird, awkward, science- and sci-fi-loving girls can save the world just by being themselves.  Dairine Callahan was the first geek girl who ever taught me it’s not only okay to be a geek girl, but that there’s power in empiricism when properly applied.  In contrast to a lot of scientifically “smart” characters from sci-fi (who often use long words or good grades as a shorthand for conveying their expertise), Dairine applies the scientific method, programming theory, and a love of Star Wars to her problem-solving skills in a way that easily conveys that she—and Diane Duane, for that matter—love science for what it is: an adventurous way of taking apart the universe to find out how it works.  This is sci-fi at its best.

8. Dr. Franklin’s Island, Gwyneth Jones

  • If you love Animorphs’ body horror, personal tragedy, and portrayal of teens struggling to cope with unimaginable circumstances, then this the book for you!  I’m only being about 80% facetious, because this story has all that and a huge dose of teen angst besides.  It’s a loose retelling of H.G. Wells’s classic The Island of Doctor Moreau, but really goes beyond that story by showing how the identity struggles of adolescence interact with the identity struggles of being kidnapped by a mad scientist and forcibly transformed into a different animal.  It’s a survival story with a huge dose of nightmare fuel (seriously: this book is not for the faint of heart, the weak of stomach, or anyone who skips the descriptions of skin melting and bones realigning in Animorphs) but it’s also one about how three kids with a ton of personal differences and no particular reason to like each other become fast friends over the process of surviving hell by relying on each other.

9. Sideways Stories from Wayside School, Louis Sachar

  • Louis Sachar is the only author I’ve ever seen who can match K.A. Applegate for nihilistic humor and absurdist horror layered on top of an awesome story that’s actually fun for kids to read.  Where he beats K.A. Applegate out is in terms of his ability to generate dream-like surrealism in these short stories, each one of which starts out hilariously bizarre and gradually devolves into becoming nightmare-inducingly bizarre.  Generally, each one ends with an unsettling abruptness that never quite relieves the tension evoked by the horror of the previous pages, leaving the reader wondering what the hell just happened, and whether one just wet one’s pants from laughing too hard or from sheer existential terror.  The fact that so much of this effect is achieved through meta-humor and wordplay is, in my opinion, just a testament to Sachar’s huge skill as a writer.

10. Magyk, Angie Sage

  • As I mentioned, the Septimus Heap series is probably the second most powerful portrayal of the effect of war on children that I’ve ever encountered; the fact that the books are so funny on top of their subtle horror is a huge bonus as well.  There are a lot of excellent moments throughout the series where the one protagonist’s history as a child soldier (throughout this novel he’s simply known as “Boy 412″) will interact with his stepsister’s (and co-protagonist’s) comparatively privileged upbringing.  Probably my favorite is the moment when the two main characters end up working together to kill a man in self-defense, and the girl raised as a princess makes the horrified comment that she never thought she’d actually have to kill someone, to which her stepbrother calmly responds that that’s a privilege he never had; the ensuing conversation strongly implies that his psyche has been permanently damaged by the fact that he was raised to kill pretty much from infancy, but all in a way that is both child-friendly and respectful of real trauma.

“Keys. I need your keys.”

You laughed, shaking your head, “Right. Sorry.” Digging into your purse followed by a toss of the keys, he caught them out of the air before you headed in the direction of the diner once again.

A bell above the door jangled lightly as you entered the diner, the smell of hot grease hitting your nose. Straight ahead there was a counter with barstools, a view of the kitchen behind it. To both your left and right along the wall lined with windows, there were built-in booths with splitting vinyl cushions and spotted formica-covered tables.

The waitress behind the counter spoke, drawing your attention. “Hey, sweetie. Take a seat wherever you like, I’ll be with you in a jiffy.”

“Okay,” you responded with a tight smile.

Choosing a booth, you dropped your bag and sat down. You looked around, seeing only 2 other customers currently sitting at the counter with coffee mugs in their hands. Moments later, a pretty redhead approached, wearing a sleeveless button-up flowered shirt and jeans under the apron around her waist. Bright red lipstick painted her lips as she talked to what looked like a regular customer. Probably a local.

On Moffat’s Who, Gender, and Bill Potts

I’ve been upset about The Episode That Shall Not Be Named for a few days. I’ve been processing it, and I’ve finally got to a point where I could write it down. So, here goes. *deep breath* I’m going to talk about Doctor Who’s playfulness with gender, and then I’m going to talk about Bill Potts.

First of all, let me preface this by saying: I think it’s great that Doctor Who has been celebrating the spectrum of genders. Female, male, non-binary. I don’t want to diminish that, the attention on non-binary genders. I’m happy that my friends who are non-binary are getting a shout out and some representation.

However, there are a few things that cause me to doubt the sincerity, the intent behind it. In my opinion, It’s being used to distract from something else.

I don’t trust Moffat at all. If you are a Moffat fan, let me humbly request that you either scroll on and go your merry way to read something else, or you can respectfully read and consider what I have to say, but I’m not interested in hearing your defense of Moffat. To me, he’s indefensible. I would request that you kindly keep your arguments to yourself. Please do not come on to my very anti Moffat post with a Moffat defense. It’s tagged “anti Moffat” for a reason. (I said in my blog description that you can blacklist “anti moffat” and you won’t see any sort of post like that from me. I’ve tried to tag the best I can on my blog because I know some people don’t want to see it, but I still have the right to post it, and my opinion not wrong just because you disagree with it.)

Here’s the deal with the Master and the Doctor. Any slash tension between them beyond friendship has been subtext for a long time. And nowhere was it more slashy than with Simm and Tennant. There was something seductive about their tumultuous on-screen partnership (thanks in part to the actors themselves). I don’t ship it, but I can totally see why people do. (I don’t ship it mainly because the Doctor/Master relationship is historically unhealthy. If you ship them, I respect your right to do so. You do you, honeys, and I’ll keep my NOTP in a corner to myself, and let us all get along.)

Then Ten regenerates into Eleven, and Eleven regenerates into Twelve. And now we have a Missy. The Time Lord known as the Master has changed genders.

WOW. HOW NOVELTY. SUCH CLEVER. Pat Moffat on the back, mates, for pulling a huge bait-and-switch.

Suddenly, there’s an all but admittance of feelings from Missy to the Doctor. Didn’t they kiss in one of their first on-screen scenes together? Isn’t that why she turned all the dead people around the world into Cybermen? So the Doctor would have an army? She wanted to show she cared for him, if I remember right, give it to him as a gift. (Which was weird to me to begin with anyway.)

(putting the rest under a read more because this gets long)

Six Times Voltage Inc Tugged at my Heartstrings

I’ve been playing Voltage games for about four years now, and I have to say, there were moments in certain routes that made me Feel Things™. Generally, Voltage games aren’t really known for being cynical or overly emotional. Heck, their games, while having some mature content, mostly have an optimistic feel to them. However, there were some moments in particular that stood out to me—those scenes were written powerfully enough to shake me to the core.

I have to admit, it was difficult for me to select a few moments from hundreds of routes, but I tried my best to narrow it down as much as I could.

Disclaimer:

  • I limited it to one character per game to avoid repetition.
  • I haven’t played every Voltage game (or route for that matter). The moments I’ve chosen only come from the games I’ve played.
  • I didn’t include SLBP because I only started getting into it recently (plus I don’t know too much about the other lords to make solid conclusions about them lmao).
  • This is all my personal opinion, so that means you probably won’t share the same views as I do, which is cool (I’d actually appreciate it if you told me what your favorite moments were :D).

Anyhow, let’s begin! (long post below):

V’s blindness

hello my name is void n i am lowkey (highkey) obsessed with eyeballs. i read a lot on the subject of injuries and diseases for shits n giggles in my part time n i just rlly ;lilke eyeballs ok. dont.,,,, judge me

i wanna discus’ v’s eyes and why its so mcfreaking w ei r d to me. certain things doesnt add up

also spoiler alert if that isnt obvs but yea boi

Ok so all artists and fanfic author have some sort of different idea to how Rika blinded V, which is chill and I love them all. But in canon there are a few basic things that have been stated or implied very specifically about V’s eyesight and I wanna piece it together.

1) It’s supposedly curable with a surgery.

2) It’s deteriorative (V was able to drive around relatively well initially, could still take pictures for a while but as time progressed his eyes gets worse until he’s completely blind in the Secret Ending)

2.5) Bonus factor that could just be bc of art style: his eyes clouds when he’s completely blind.

3) The injury that Rika inflicted must have been pretty small scale and with specific intentions to blind him if he doesn’t receive any other injuries/damage to his face or head.

With those three factors in mind, we can pretty much wipe out any burns/chemical burns. If Rika took a pot of acid and doused him in it, he’s gonna be disfigured as well as blind unless she straps him down and intentionally takes an eyedropper to apply it only to his eyes. We can also very easily remove any severe traumatic head injuries because a lot of the time, those head injuries are permanent and also affects other parts of his body. Anything to do with retinas should also be left out since that can’t be fixed with surgery, and so should blindness from loss of eyeballs bc ofc he still has his eyes they just dont work. Heck, Jumin pretty much told everyone what exactly was wrong with V’s eyes in Yoosung’s route (I think), but his answer doesn’t sit very well with me and I will tell you why in a sec.

4) Jumin said it was corneal scarring.

This satisfies 1, 2.5 and 3 easily. Keratoplasty is quite easy and accessible if Jumin is a freakin billionaire or some shit, and the surgery has relatively high success rates (but yknow with any transplant there can be things that go wrong). Corneal scarring can cause your eyes to go cloudy. It also can be relatively easily inflicted without any damage to other parts of V’s face (scratching, throwing sand at his eyes, etc,,) But of course there are three main factors up there and… 2 doesn’t quite fit.

Thing is. Corneal scarring isn’t deteriorative until it becomes something else.

Everyone who has acquired a scar will know exactly that that scar doesn’t spread and stays the same even if you acquired it as a child and grew up (unless the injury is not fully healed and keeps getting aggravated/reopened)— it’s the same thing with eyes, so V’s eyesight shouldn’t be deteriorating 1.5 years after he was injured just because of corneal scarring. The initial injury should have already healed if he is able to keep his eyes open with relative ease and they aren’t bloodshot and tearing. His vision would be limited but it shouldn’t be getting any worse if he doesn’t have any other conditions that could affect them.

Now we look at another factor.

5) V refuses surgery. But does that mean he refuses all treatment?

Complications can arise if you leave an injury unmonitored. What many people doesn’t know is that even people who are blind still have to get check up regularly to make sure their eyes aren’t getting worse (yes they can get worse). Heck, sometimes they have to get checked up more often than sighted people because they cannot judge for themselves how their eyes are doing without their sight. So what can corneal scarring leads to if dear ol’ V refuses to even go to a doctor for a check up?

Infections, cataract, glaucoma to mention a common few. V passed the open wound stage already though since it has already scarred over, so infection is no longer an issue. The other two, though? Them springing up after 1.5 years of no monitoring and continuous treatment sounds about right. And yes, dear readers, those two are deteriorative. And I wanna bring up a final factor that’s mentioned.

6) V can still drive up until he’s completely blind.

No, not all eyeball conditions are the same, obviously. A lot of people like to think that your eyes just go blurry myopia style but that’s not the case a lot of the time. How his vision deteriorates can play a large role and of course, cataracts and glaucoma affect the field of vision in different ways. Cataracts is the clouding of the lenses in your eyes, and it blurs your vision. It’s like looking through a foggy window. Driving through fog is already dangerous a s f u ck, not to mention that sometimes cataracts also creates blind spots that can appear in the middle of your field of vision and if that doesn’t sound like a driving disaster then idk what is.

Glaucoma, though? Well… there’s a reason why most people don’t realise they have glaucoma initially until it has progressed and claimed large parts of their vision.

Glaucoma reduces your field of vision. Periphery goes first, but the central part of your vision remains crystal clear a lot of the times if you have no other complications. We rely on our central vision the most, so your daily lives are not affected until one day you realise that you have to turn your head a lot more before noticing something that’s just to your left. Seriously. It’s so subtle that you don’t notice you are even losing your vision in the first place. A lot of people even drive and ride bikes when their glaucoma has already— oh wait.

;^)

Yeah.

Bonus fact;;

Blindness from glaucoma is permanent.

Is Jumin and V aware of that?

ps. its also highly likely that cheritz just havent done enough research, or they bent a few rules bc of plot but goddamn i want v to remain blind ok. either that, or magic is involved. and magic changes everything. so how abt a second theory, eh?

Doctor Frank Longbottom was the poor sap assigned to Lily Evans when she entered Levinstown Hospital cradling her swollen wrist in rumpled clothes that smelled like the chlorine pool she’d fallen into. Frank looked over his chart and Lily sent him the best smile she could. He seemed nice, if not amused by her since she refused to tell him exactly what happened. She was a university student and he could probably guesstimate she’d been intoxicated but none-the-less Lily was not ready to share with the fair-haired doctor about how senseless she’d been.

“You are not well enough to drive,” he was being persistent, “I’d feel best if a friend or family member came to get you.”

Timeloop Aftermath

((I decided to create a possible idea of what might happen with the Aftermath of this AU. It’s a brilliant AU, so many possibilities and great writing on your part (I also love your art wow)! So, here it is! I hope you like it!))

After the incident, everything in Jeremy’s life changed, and for the better.

After he told Michael about everything that had happened (using the journal as proof, even if he has to read it to him and persuade it to him enough to make him believe him), he was convinced by Michael to get the Squip out of his brain.

There was a whole shitload of stuff that happened (may possibly write it out), whereas Jeremy had to fight against the Squip'a forces, talk to Rich, and finally get that Mountain Dew Red to end it all, Michael being his main support.

Afterwards, with everything that had happened to them with the party and Squips, Jeremy finally seemed to be accepted by people. Not only did Rich come out as bi and started being good friends with Jeremy and Michael, he got them one step closer to Jake, Chloe, Brook and Jenna. Christine had taken a liking to helping Michael after the accident (Jeremy wasn’t into her anymore since he figured out his feelings for Michael, however he couldn’t help appreciate all the amazing things she did), and so the Drama Crew was formed, their friendship really unexpected and magnificent.

Not to mention that Jeremy and Michael had gotten together quickly. Jeremy visited Michael in the hospital everyday after the accident until he got out. Apparently Michael would have full blindness for up to a year, six-nine months at least, and then he’s have eyesight problems for the rest of his life (so, worse than needing glasses obviously, however he’d have partial blindness at times. However it wouldn’t affect him as greatly, and not as bad forever).

Despite the joking bets about how long they’d last, they lasted.. that’s just it. They lasted. They graduated, went to college together (They were cool in college, let me tell you,) and moved in together shortly afterwards. They went on dates, got a dog named Pac-Man (a stray Michael found on the street, what a furry,) , and eventually had a wedding! It was small but cute, the Crew was there, Jeremy’s dad was there, Michael’s parents were there, and Mr. Reyes was there for some reason. It was all amazing, life couldn’t go better for Michael and Jeremy Heere.

That’s the saying, you can only go up. But when you’re up, where else can you go? Well.. only down, of course.

Jeremy and Michael were in their early 40’s. It had been so long since everything happened, the two never imagined Michael’s sight could be so bad ever again. He had been able to see just fine since he had turned 31, despite still needing glasses. They hadn’t even costed the doctor in a whole year, they were so confident.

Confidence wasn’t enough.

Michael had always been insistent on driving himself places after he had gotten better. To practice driving again after getting better, he went to the grocery store to get stuff for the week for them every week, and he had just kept it up since. It wasn’t a big deal.

It had been September when this whole instance occurred. Jeremy sat at home on this Monday, when he had the work day off for Labor day. He sorted through the papers in his hands that was keeping him busy. It wasn’t business papers, oh no (he couldn’t work for a big business anyways, it reminded him of the Squip. Plus he just hated the thought of working in a cubical), these were adoption papers. Jeremy and Michael had been thinking about this for yesrs, and now they were thing of going through with this. He was reading through the different foster care systems near them, when he heard his phone ring.

Jeremy wasn’t one to let his phone go to voicemail unless he was really, really into something or just couldn’t reach the phone. This wasn’t one of those times. He was quite calm at the moment, normal, feeling alright..

He suddenly didn’t feel alright. With the sound of the stranger over the line telling him about the accident. Telling him that his player two had swivered off the side of the highway into a ditch in a frenzy. He was at the hospital. He was under-

Jeremy had stopped listening. Why? Because he dripped his phone on the way outside. Panic ran through his body as he sped out of the driveway in his car, cutting someone off and not caring for a single second.

He could barely breathe as he raced towards the hospital. He knew where it was from how many times he’s been there for this man and this man alone. This man he loved more than anything in the world. The man he saw die so many times before- but felt it so real this time that he felt like he would die right here and now if he didn’t make it to the hospital.

Adrenalin filled him as he crashed into the ER, frantically waving down anyone at all to tell him where Michael was. He looked insane, so if course, security had stopped him before a nurse had came to him.

“Where’s Michael? Where- I-Im married to him! I-is he ok?”

“Sir, were doing everything we can. Hes in a critical state. You have to calm-”

“I can’t calm down! I have to see him- h-he can’t die! I can’t let him d-die! Please!” Jeremy held back the word ‘again’. He also held back tears.

“Sir, I..”

Just then, a doctor stepped into the area. He talked to the lady at the front counter before making his way over to us. “You’re Jeremy Heere, sir?”

Jeremy nodded quickly. “Y-yes, where’s Michael? Is he ok? H-hes ok, right?”

The doctor had paused.

Jeremy felt a fear rush through him at this silence. “H-hes, t-tell me Michael’s ok! Tell me!” He persisted, his voice escalating.

The doctor spoke calmly, obviously rehearsed and drone-like. “I’m sorry sir. There was nothing else we could do for him. Michael had punctured his lung and bled to death before we could do anything usef..”

Jeremy felt his heart drop as the words sunk in. His thoughts seemed to stop, scream to a halt, not disappear, but a much , much worse feeling. The feeling of his whole life crashing down on him and fleeing him at the same time. His heart stopped, like everything else, for a pause that seemed to last for hours.

Then it all hit him. All of it. His heart came back, feeling an ache that only grew worse with every pump. His mind filled with the words of the doctor, the thoughts of his lovers death, the thoughts of Michael, Michael, Michael is dead.

Jeremy was crying. His cheeks were leaking as he pulled himself away from the other men. He stumbled back, still staring at the doctor. His vision became blurry as he started crying harder than every before, his breath becoming tiny gasps, his feet losing balance when he realised he was outside the hospital, on the grass. He brought his hands to his face, weeping and whaling profusely to himself, alone.

Everything came flooding back. And it all guilted him. He could have gone grocery shopping with him. For him. He could have taken him to the doctors to get checked up, seen that his sight might get worse. Checked that his lover was ok with a phone call, say “I love you, player two” one last time. The worst part was that he couldn’t remember the last words they had exchanged.

His mind was in such a spiraling state that he started thinking of everything bad that he ever did to Michael. He reached his deaths, he reached the looping. He remembered every death. He remembered his pain and how none of that pain was nearly as bad as it is now. Now was the worst day of his life. And there had been many bad days for Jeremy Heere.

He just wanted to see his face one more time. He wanted to see his lover, his player two, his alive husband, his best friend, his partner in crime, the most amazing person in the world-

“Or you’ll what?”

The bathroom. The light. The taste of shitty, terrible liquor threatening his mouth. And right in front of him, almost 30 years younger, was the love of his life. He teared up.

“M-Michael?”

(HOOOOO BOYYYYYY I AM. I AM DEC E ASED

I AM LIKE. LIKE THIS

I’M AM PHYSICALLY W EAK

That was really really really fantastic, wow!! I have had thoughts about making the timeline where Michael goes blind the final timeline, sort of like, there’s gotta be some sacrifices, but they don’t necessarily have to be someone dying, ya know? And just imagining all the fun stuff that he and Jeremy go through afterward, hoooo!

All I can think about now is Jeremy pushing Michael (who’s wearing like, shutter shades or a pair of ridiculous sunglasses probably) around in a wheel chair through school and Michael’s like “Move outta the way, bitches, I got an escort to class” and like. Once they recover they get comfortable enough to make blind jokes ppfffp
Although I do like the idea of Michael’s sight coming back eventually. Like the accident at Jake’s house was only temporary and he regains his sight after a couple months or a year or smth.

BUT ANYWAY BACK TO SCREAMING THAT WRECKED ME AAAA!! I just can’t imagine how awful that would be, to live thirty years and then be taken back in time all the way back to the start of the whole thing;; but now Jeremy can try to prevent the whole blind thing, yeah? (Maybe instead Jeremy ends up going blind :0)

STOP KILLING MICHAEL I say as I continue to kill Michael in multiple of my AUs haha–//shot

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!! You guys are awesome continuing to shower me with fics and beautiful art and giving me more ideas for this AU I AM TRULY. TRULY BLESSED.)

Rose Tyler: Defender of the Earth

During July, my Meta Monday posts will all be about Doomsday. Today I’m tackling a popular fanon and explaining why I don’t subscribe to it.

I discovered when I started writing fanfic that a lot of people believe Rose only fell because the Doctor tricked her into going to Pete’s World. The thought is that if she hadn’t taken a second round trip through the Void, she would’ve been able to hold onto the lever the few extra seconds necessary to stay in our universe with the Doctor.

On the surface, that’s a plausible idea. Additionally, it plays into the recurring theme in Ten’s run of him overreaching–arrogantly making choices for someone else–and that having serious consequences. (If you think about it, the Master only had an opening to become Prime Minister because the Doctor had deposed Harriet Jones…)

So why do I reject this headcanon? Two main reasons–the narrative doesn’t support it, and it diminishes Rose’s role in Doomsday.

If the cause of Rose’s fall is the extra Void stuff she collected on that second trip, then there’s no reason for her to let go of her clamp. That entire sequence with the lever shifting to offline and Rose letting go of the clamp to push it up again is absolutely unnecessary if she was going to fall because of the Void stuff.

When you only have 45 minutes of screen time, you focus on the part of the story that matters. The episode gives no screen time to the idea that Rose’s fall is a direct result of the Doctor’s actions. There’s no line from the Doctor about it being his fault, how Rose would have been able to hold on if she’d had just a little less Void stuff on her.

In contrast, there’s a full minute devoted to her lever moving offline, the struggle to reach it and push it back up, and her subsequent fall. In the middle of an action scene, anything that gets a minute of screen time is The Point of the scene. If RTD wanted us to believe Rose’s fall was the Doctor’s fault, he’d have been better served using that minute later in the goodbye scene for some sort of line from the Doctor, as I mentioned above.

“But Nancy, if that’s true, what’s the narrative point of the Doctor sending Rose back to Pete’s World? If that didn’t happen just to make it possible for her to fall, why did he do that?”

Good question! And one with two answers.

  1. That’s a character moment. The Doctor has a pattern of making choices for Rose to keep her safe. This is very much in character for him.
  2. Rose’s choice to immediately come back raises the stakes for the conclusion. She tells the Doctor that she’s never going to leave him. She’s determined. Being with the Doctor is the life she’s chosen, and nothing will sway her from that. Then less than ten minutes later, she has to decide between staying with the Doctor, or saving the Earth. She has to decide, in essence, to break her promise to him.

And now we come to the other reason I dislike this particular bit of fanon. It strips Rose of all her agency in a scene that should be a powerful choice that she makes

If Rose falls because of the Doctor’s actions instead of her choice, then her sacrifice is empty. She was always going to fall anyway, so what does it matter that she chose to let to go of the clamp?

That clamp represented safety. When she pointed out to the Doctor that they’d all be pulled in because they all had Void stuff, he held up a clamp and said he’d just hold on tight. The implication is clear: the clamp will keep them safe. And to reinforce that message, Rose doesn’t really struggle at all to hold on when she’s got her arm latches around the clamp. It’s not until she chooses to let go of safety that her fate is sealed.

The power of Doomsday’s climax comes from Rose’s choices and sacrifice. She’s sent to safety once, and she comes back because she chooses the Doctor over safety. And then when she’s given a second chance at safety–the clamp–she lets go of it when the choice is between her safety, or saving the Earth.

This is her “I could save the world, but lose you” moment. Just like the Doctor in World War Three, she has the obvious means to save the world, at her fingertips. And just like him, she knows that saving the world will mean losing him–though in this sense it’s metaphorical. The Doctor won’t die if she saves the world, but they will lose their life together.

And notice that Rose is stronger than the Doctor in both scenes. In World War Three, she is the one who accepts those consequences and tells him to do it. In Doomsday, as soon as her lever clicks into the offline position, the Doctor begs her to hold on. He knows the options as well as she does, and he can see the decision on her face. Instead of offering unwavering support like Rose did, he begs her to choose her own life.

When it comes to a choice between Rose and the universe, Rose is always more accepting of the consequences than the Doctor.

Rose willingly lets go of the clamp that had been holding her in this universe, with the Doctor, because she knows it is the only way to save the Earth. She falls as a direct result of that choice, which makes her loss a sacrifice she chose.

If we make this scene all about the Doctor’s actions, we strip her of her agency in the middle of her most powerful scene. A Rose who was always doomed to fall to Pete’s World because of the Doctor’s trick never had a chance to stay, which means it doesn’t matter what choice she made when the lever moved to offline.

In a way, I understand the appeal of this headcanon. It adds more pain to the Doctor’s thoughts and self-recrimination later, if he can blame the whole thing on himself. But outside of the fact that I doubt he had any problem blaming it all on himself regardless (that’s one of his superpowers), I really don’t like where that train of thought takes us.

Do you want to strip the female main character of her agency in order to cause more pain for the male main character?

Outside of the narrative reasons, which I believe are compelling evidence that this was not the intent in the script, this is why I reject this headcanon. It takes a key scene in Rose’s life and makes it about his pain instead of her choices, and that is the exact opposite of what I love about Rose Tyler.

When Words Aren’t Enough

Summary: When Archie shows an interest in the reader, Jughead Jones is pushed into action. Jughead needs to show how much he cares about the reader, even if it might ruin their friend ship.

Word Count: 2105

Author’s note: It’s short but smutty! Thank you all for being so understanding about my mini break, I love you all! I think I’m back to writing:)

You were currently surrounded by roughly a hundred papers scattered across the main desk of the “Blue and Gold”. With everything that had been going on there was so much to write about, and so much to just think about.

The death of Jason Blossom had turned your world upside down, and there was only one thing you were certain of- your love for Jughead. It was fifth period, which meant your “independent study” aka a solid hour of bliss with Juggy.

You two edited the paper together with Betty, but fifth period was your alone editing time. Staring down at the thousands of words you rubbed the bridge of your nose, “ Juggy I can feel my brain turning to mush”.

Jughead came up behind you, pushing your hair off your neck. Bringing his lips closely to your ear he whispered, “ Well let’s hope the rest of your body still works”. Before you could say anything, he began to kiss your neck.

Moaning you tilted your head to the side, giving him more access. Jughead turned you around, your front now pressed against him.

Smirking you asked, “ Are we about to play a game of doctor where I get a full body check-up?”. Jughead rolled his eyes, “ Remind me how I fell in love with you again?”.

That was actually a good question. Neither of you expected to feel the way you currently felt, or even thought it was possible. Jughead didn’t think he deserved someone as beautiful or caring as you.

It was the classic best friends gone lovers situation that you only saw in movies. You and Jughead go way back, like play-date back. You’d grown up together, and Jughead had even been your first kiss when you both were little.

When you’d gone to high school things had changed. Jughead started to feel differently about you, but was too scared to act on it. It wasn’t until his other best friend Archie started showing interest in you that Jughead got pushed into the right direction.

Jughead remembered the specific moment when he realized he’d need to intervene. Betty had been too busy dealing with family issues and had to bail on her tutoring session with Archie.

Archie needed help with English, and that was a subject you mastered. Wanting to help out a friend you offered, “ Hey Arch, I can always help! I had Mr. Kain last year and-”.

He didn’t need any convincing, “ My house, after school?”. You couldn’t help but laugh at how eager he was. Smiling you said, “ Sure, that works perfectly”. There was a weird look in his eyes but you were unsure why.

Smirking he said, “ See you then”. You found his eagerness to study weird, so you decided to talk to Jughead. Walking to his locker you asked, “ Does Archie want to improve his grades?”.

Jughead laughed, “ Archie wants to improve about everything but that…why?”. You hadn’t been insanely close with Archie since you were kids. Raising an eyebrow you explained, “Well I said I’d help him study and-”.

Jughead gave you his classic, “ You have to be kidding me” look. Realizing how clueless you were he added, “ Archie wants to study something else besides English (y/n)”. You were still insanely clueless.

Juggy rolled his eyes, “ Jesus christ (y/n) he’s interested in you”. Automatically you laughed at the idea. Thinking out loud you asked, “ What does Archie want with me? Why not Veronica or Betty…or hell even Cheryl”.

Closing his locker Jughead softly said, “ You’re just as beautiful as them, and you actually have substance”. Hearing Jughead call you beautiful gave you butterflies, and that confused you.

He was your best friend, why were you feeling like this? Still thinking outloud you asked, “ You think I’m beautiful Juggy?”. There was no taking it back, it was out there.

In hopes to hide his blush Jughead turned around, “ I think everything’s beautiful, I’m a writer”. You could tell by the tone of his voice that he was down playing it, and so you smiled.

Smirking you added, “ Jughead Jones you are one hard nut to crack”. That earned a smile out of him and that sight alone gave you butterflies.

There was nothing more beautiful than the way his eyes lit up when he smiled, or how he licked his lips trying to delay it. You parted your ways and went to the last period of the day.

The last hour of the day flew by and before you knew it you were walking to Archie’s house with him. Archie smiled, “ It’s crazy how much everyone has changed over the summer”.

Laughing you added, “ You’re one to talk Archie, what is that an eight pack?”. You decided that light flirting wouldn’t hurt, in fact it might help you decide how you felt. Archie winked, “ You’re not looking to bad yourself either (y/n)”.

As you walked up the stairs to Archie’s room you felt his eyes on you, but it didn’t give you goosebumps. He opened his bedroom door, “ We haven’t hung out in a while huh?”. It was true, you were much closer as kids.

Shrugging you said, “ Everything’s just gotten so complicated you know? You drifted towards Betty and I drifted towards Jughead”. Archie’s smirk faded with the mention of Betty. Raising an eyebrow you asked, “ You and Betty are okay right? Aren’t you-”.

Archie shook his head as he plopped onto his bed, “ Betty and I aren’t a thing”. That was hint number two that he might actually be interested in you, but you needed convincing.

Laughing you said, “ Come on Archie you two are always together and Betty is so-”. Sitting back up Archie turned to face you. As he sat on the edge of his bed he cut you off, “Perfect. Betty is so perfect..it’s too much pressure”.

Betty was amazing at so many things, but you knew she wasn’t perfect. Trying to make him feel better you added, “ Archie no one is perfect, and Betty’s beautiful you’re telling me you’ve never thought of her in that way?”.

As you spoke you were looking through the various papers on his desk, your back turned. He got up from the bed, “ I haven’t thought about her that way….but I have thought about you”. Feeling his presence you turned around, now realizing how close to you he was.

His face was only inches from yours, that same look from earlier in his eyes. Once again you started thinking out loud, “ What have you thought about me?”. Part of you wanted to know, but the bigger part of you wanted to stop where this was going.

Archie slowly placed his hand on your hip, “ I’ve thought about how amazing you are, and how there’s so much about you I don’t know”. There was no denying it Archie was incredibly attractive, but he didn’t make you feel the way Jughead did.

Trying to play things off you laughed and turned your head to the side. Still not looking him in the eyes you said, “ Archie what else do think there is?”. You wished he’d pick up on your body language, but the boy was persistent.

He forced you to face him by placing his fingertips under your chin, guiding your head. Biting his lip he said, “ There’s a part of you that isn’t as innocent as you try to seem”. That was true, but this all made you realize you didn’t want to explore that part with him.

Placing your hands on his chest you pushed him back, “ I’m sorry Archie, I know it’s probably confusing but I can’t do this”. Archie didn’t hesitate and he backed up, giving you your space.

Smiling he asked, “ It’s Jughead isn’t it?”. By now he was sitting back on his bed, leaving you leaning against his desk. Biting your lip you responded, “ Yeah…it is…why are you smiling though?”.

Archie just laughed, “ I’m happy he has someone like you to love him like that”. He threw out the “l-word” and it made your eyebrows raise. Before you could say anything Archie laughed, “ Don’t try to deny it (y/n)! I see how you look at each other”.

You were confused, “ How we look at each other?”. Archie gave you his version of the, “ You have to be kidding me” look. Smirking he replied, “ You two practically undress each other with your eyes every time you look at each other”.

Archie added, “ And you not wanting to get with me proves that you love him. I’m his best friend, and you want to respect that”. It was true, you didn’t want to hurt Jughead. Smiling you said, “ I do love him”.

That was the first time you admitted it out loud, and it gave you goosebumps. Archie smiled, “ I’m happy, and by the way no awkwardness between us okay? I hate that we’ve drifted and I want to get closer-”.

Archie was cut off when his door swung open by of course, Jughead. The both of you just stood there, waiting to see what he’d say. For the first time Jughead struggled to find the words.

He settled on, “ Closer huh? Not to ruin the moment but (y/n) there’s an emergency with the Blue and Gold so-”. Archie and you just looked to each other and laughed, knowing Jughead was just trying to stop anything from happening.

Archie smirked, “ She’s all yours Juggy”. After winking to Archie, you left with Jughead. When you were finally outside of Archie’s house, you asked Jughead to stop.

Trying to seem innocent you asked, “ So what’s the emergency?”. Once again Jughead stood there trying to come up with a lie. Taking a step closer towards him you asked, “ Was it that someone else might kiss me before you can?”.

You’d left Jughead speechless, and this wouldn’t be the last time. You wrapped one arm around his neck and rested your other hand on his chest. Smirking you said, “ I’m all yours Juggy, now what are you going to do?”.

Something shifted inside of him, and Jughead found the courage. He took your face in both hands and kissed you passionately. And that had been the moment when he knew he’d fallen in love with you, the moment when someone had made Jughead Jones use something other than his words to express himself.

Back to the present, Jughead was still waiting for you to answer his question. Looking up into his eyes you said, “ I’m tempted to give you some sarcastic answer but we both know you fell in love with me the moment you realized sometimes words just aren’t enough”.

Jughead picked you up and placed you on the desk, your legs on either side of him. Looking longingly into your eyes he said, “ There aren’t words for how you make me feel”. You pulled him closer to you by wrapping your arms around his neck.

Bringing your lips closer to his you asked, “ Then show me”. This time Jughead kissed you slowly, wanting you to feel what he felt for you. He slid up your dress by dragging his hands up your thighs.

You took off his beanie and ran your hands through his hair, knowing how crazy it drove him. Jughead moaned into the kiss, and the feeling alone made you feel like you were going to explode.

Jughead stopped the kiss to pull off his shirt, and then began kissing your neck again. As he sucked you moaned his name, encouraging him to continue. You felt him smile against your skin, obviously smug at how worked up he was making you.

Before you could go any further, the door swung open. You both turned your heads and saw Betty and Archie. Their eyes wide open at seeing you and Jughead in such a position.

Archie was the first to say something, “ Sorry to be a cockblock but you guys need to come with us”. Both Betty and Archie seemed worked up, and you knew it was serious.

Jughead on the other hand, didn’t want to leave. Sighing he said, “ Unless a bomb went off I-”.

Betty laughed dryly, “ Pretty damn close Jug, Cheryl lit her entire house on fire”. You were both shocked at the news, and concerned for your friend. After kissing you one last time Jughead whispered into your ear, “ Later I’m going to show you just how crazy you drive me”.

You felt yourself begin to blush, and also get turned on. Putting that aside you joined your friends on the newest adventure. With Jughead by your side, nothing else mattered.

Jay and Rosie,5,(twins), Luton, England. Transgender boy and Cisgender girl. Part 2.

3.How did you or your child express it? Can you recount that experience?

Mostly it would come up when he was addressed with female pronouns, from around 3.5 he started correcting people and we would pretend to laugh it off, telling people to just go with it. He asked to only wear boys clothes soon after his 4 th birthday – the feminist in me was a little jarred by my kid thinking there are ‘boys’ clothes and ‘girls’ clothes after all of my attempts to raise them thinking otherwise haha! But he wanted to be perceived as male, so off to the shops we went. Then one day when Jay was almost 4.5 we were in the car and he said out of the blue “Mummy, can you ask people to stop calling me ‘she’ and ‘her’ now, it makes me sad.” This was the real turning point, we had to make a decision to support him and to change pronouns, up until then it was ‘just’ clothes and he was ‘just’ a tomboyish girl. At that stage he hadn’t mentioned a name change, so we had an awkward (for me! Jay was overjoyed at us using ‘he’ and ‘him’!) a few months of using his birth name alongside male pronouns. Then in May this year he asked why we had called him Lily; we explained that when I was pregnant and the doctors looked into my tummy to check the babies were okay, that they told us we were having two girls, so we chose names that are usually given to girls and that went together – Rose and Lily. We told him Lily could be a boy’s name because he was a boy, but he decided he would like a name which would be seen as a boy’s name, and settled on Jay (J for John, like daddy’s name).

4. Jay says he is so happy to be addressed using his male name and pronouns, sometimes he gets a little sad at being misgendered (he has long hair) but mostly he is happy to just correct people and carry on. He loves knowing that people who are important to him see him as male, and absolutely beams when those he loves most use male orientated terms of endearment. He will sometimes seek reassurance from me that everyone in our lives definitely knows he’s a boy, and when I confirm again that they do, I can see how happy that makes him.

5. Almost everyone has been supportive, including some people who admit they don’t understand but want to fully support us anyway. The main area we felt we were lacking in support was from our church. We would have liked to have been given the opportunity to try and educate them, and feel that had we been able to do so there were people who were open to hearing us out. But unfortunately the leadership –whilst mixed in opinions – overall, decided that the best they could do was avoid pronoun use at all. We felt after 3 years at this church and with friendships involved, this didn’t go far enough, and that we should have been able to address the church as a whole to give people the chance to ask questions and learn about our situation. We gave the leadership an ultimatum – we would leave if Jay couldn’t be supported fully – and so in the end we had to move to a different church. Not long after that, Jay requested his name be changed from his birth name to Jay, and our new church community embraced his chosen name with so much love and acceptance. Some of our family have struggled to get their heads around the idea but wouldn’t want to upset Jay, so are trying to be supportive. Our network of friends has been incredibly accepting and almost everyone we know uses his correct name and pronouns without any slip ups – including all of the children, who have taken it in their stride!

Will you be able you separate work and play, or will you let Jensen win?

Catch Up Here: Masterpost

“Jensen, are you sure you don’t care?” You asked him as you glanced between your two favorite sets of patio furniture. They were both great, and exactly what you wanted, and you couldn’t decide which one to get.

“Get both.” He answered, and you rolled your eyes at him. “Seriously Y/N, I just want you to be happy with it. I love them both.”

Sighing, you pointed at the rich chocolate set, with its gazebo, couches, and table with a built-in fire pit. It was fancy and outrageous, and you couldn’t wait to spend your evenings out in it. “Can we get a set exactly like this for the house in Texas?” You asked Jensen, who chuckled.

Save Me. (Yoongi x Reader) PART 5.

You sighed as you thoroughly read through the encrypted notes that Jimin had given you about the previous deaths and the two suspects you had asked for. Nothing seemed to be adding up despite having more information. None of their backgrounds had consistent similarities. There was a missing piece and you were frustrated that you couldn’t pinpoint it.

You stared at the sheet, willing a clue to emerge. Everything was intriguing. All of their deaths, and all of their stories. Namjoon had so wonderfully organized it for you, but still, even combined with your own observations, no definitive patterns jumped out that could give you an advantage against the killer.

           The deaths were as follows:

And what makes you so sure, honestly? Like, besides the over the top photoshop theories, what makes you think he's not his baby? I know some of you talk about how Liam talks about bear vs how Louis talks about Freddie, but you need to realize that there's not a formula on how to talk about your kid, every parent is different! And my main question is: why the hell would they make him have a fake baby??? Do you really think Louis (and his family) would be cool and play along with that???

What makes me so sure? *cracks knuckles*

CaptainSwan One-Two-Three Shots  Recs p.3

Hello Beautiful Fandom, here is a list of some wonderful one, two and three shots that I ‘ve read and enjoyed. Let’s show our talented writers some love and support, thank you all for the stories you share with us. Hope you enjoy.

You can also find the first part here and the second here

One-shots:

All our friends want us to fall in love,  @julietohara

“I don’t do relationships,” she says as Killian takes a large bite out of his half of the grilled cheese. He raises an eyebrow at the non sequitur.

“Okay,” Killian says, dragging the word out, once his mouth is no longer full.

“I just don’t want you to get any ideas about what this,” she motions between them, “is. I’m not interested in anything more than what we’re doing now.”

(emma swan meets killian jones at a wedding. you know where that leads.)

The greatest sandcastle in the history of sandcastles, @a-city-dove and  @the-girl-in-the-band-tshirt

Killian was not expecting this turn of events. Of all people he could’ve been teamed up with for the sandcastle competition, he ends up teamed with Emma Swan.

You don’t wanna be my boyfriend,    @swallowedsong

they met in jail (trumped up charges, they swear!) and somehow, they keep meeting. and meeting. and meeting.

Inter office relations,  @a-fictional-life

Secretly dating coworker.

Not Quite a Coffee Shop AU @a-fictional-life

She needs a second job and The Library needs a barista. Who knew she would end up with more than free coffee?

Missed Connections,  @captainswanluver

Emma Swan doesn’t think she’ll ever see the handsome stranger she spilled coffee all over again. Killian Jones doesn’t believe he’ll ever see the beautiful blonde who ruined his shirt. So they couldn’t be more surprised when their paths keep crossing, only to find that something keeps standing in the way of them making a lasting connection. But when you keep meeting the same person over and over again in a city of 8 million people, is it mere coincidence or fate?

While You Were Sleeping, @captainswanluver

Officer Rogers doesn’t know who the blonde woman is that he found lying unconscious in front of his apartment building. And he certainly can’t explain the immediate connection he feels towards her or why he feels the need to visit her in the hospital everyday.

Faking It, @phiralovesloki

Killian Jones had just been joking when he’d told Emma Swan they were actually married. But in his defense, the doctors hadn’t mentioned that her concussion had given her amnesia.

Of Dates And Misunderstandings,   @word-bug

Drunk Emma makes questionable life choices - signing up to a dating website being one of them. It was a way to blow off steam fending advances of sleazeballs, until it wasn’t. Her life takes an interesting turn when a message from a guy, who shares a name with the actor she hates, pops up. It’s easy to fall for him but is Killian Jones really what she was expecting him to be?

Hold On, @lifeinahole27

we promised to stay friends but we’re doing the same stuff we did when we were a couple and i don’t wanna point it out because i don’t want it to stop.

Marshmallows vs Cinnamon, @emmaswanchoosesyou

Emma and Killian are keeping a secret from her brother, David, and his wife. And the secret isn’t that cinnamon in cocoa trumps cocoa with marshmallows.

Always look forward, @joneskillian

“I need to break into this classroom to get my pencil bag back, and someone told me that you’re good at picking locks sTOP LAUGHING I NEED MY PENCILS”.

World’s End,  @justanotherwannabeclassic

f it’s the end of the word, then I want to be with you.” (Captain Swan College AU).

Survivors, @tnlph

CS Survivor AU.

Roomies, @thesschesthair

‘Captain Cobra as roommates under the curse’ and so I tried to deliver. I hope this is okay. Mild vague spoilers for season 7.

Prompt, @thesschesthair

That damn paul mccartney, @jmosfreckles

“We bumped into each other in the street and you were grinning like a cocky asshole the whole time so i stalked off only to realize i’m wearing your shirt ”.

Two-shots:

When Killian met Emma, @lenfaz

They met when they were 22, fresh out of college and ready to embark on a two-day journey. Killian was looking for a partner for the trip that would take him to his new work in advertising in a new city. His former roommate David had mentioned that his girlfriend’s friend, Emma, was headed to Chicago to work in social services. Friends with Benefits AU.

The Fallout of Fall Festival, @beardetective

Emma and Killian were well on their way to becoming an official ampersand couple in their small town of Storybrooke, Maine, until a surprise visitor caused a rift between them.

Last call, @luscipher

Best friends (of sorts) turned lovers (of sorts) AU, just a short little two-shot filled with fluff, banter, and— dare I say it— a smidgen of crack.

The Favor,   @madjm

Emma Swan doesn’t do relationships, but her annoyingly attractive neighbor, Killian Jones, might change her views.

Sexy Retribution, @thatsmuchbetter

Offering her help to her boyfriend’s brother, Emma had no idea what she was getting herself into. Jealous!Killian.

Three-shots:

X-Factor,  @midnightswans

When Emma Swan auditioned X- Factor as singer, the last thing she was expecting was being put as group with the most dashing, but a really pain in the ass, man Killian Jones. Singer!Killian Singer!Emma

 Best laid plans, @emmaswanchoosesyou

Everyone wants Ruby Lucas, but she has her eyes on one person and one person alone. When neither Emma nor Killian are the one she chooses, they turn to each other. Friends with benefits, friends…and maybe more, if their other friends and family have any say in the matter.

Let’s Just Be Us, @cutieodonoghue

Based upon a prompt about rockstar!Killian and movie star!Emma secretly dating, but those pesky fans figure it out.

Top 5 ships in general

When you mean in general, I am going to presume ALL FANDOMS, not just League.

OKAY.

- Number 5.

Plague Knight and Mona (Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows)

(Fantastic artwork by @pickles4nickles)

I simply cannot stop loving these two. Unlike alot of ships I enjoy, these two are just pure, unadulterated adorableness and fluff. I don’t want to ruin the DLC for anyone who hasn’t played it, but the ending is possibly the sweetest thing i’ve seen from a video game. Cannot recommend it enough, its sad, sweet, a little sappy and a whole lotta cute.

- Number 4.

Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts (To the Moon)

(Wonderful artwork by @unoobang!)

To the Moon is by far my favourite game of all time. The experience was roughly the same as getting a piece of paper, making it into a paper rabbit, ripping it in half, taping it back together carefully and with extreme amounts of love, then watching it be thrown into a wood chipper, only for your best friend to present it to you all Mike Wazowski style like in Monsters Inc. Watts is a silly, laid-back goof with a big heart, meanwhile, Rosalene is a cold, calculating woman with a big brain. The balance between the two, combined with their inner, hidden desires and sins are so…. Human. Everything about them is human, and that’s why I love them so much.

- Number 3

Sky Hart and Takumi Nakamura (League of Legends)

(Lovely artwork by @ionian-storm-chaser)

Perhaps I am bias… Since as you can tell, I am the creator of Takumi. But in all honesty, I did not expect this simple relationship to snowball into so much emotion and development. Takumi, a disowned, wandering gunman with a vendetta, and Sky, a mercenary with an enchanted sword and a strong moral conviction seem like a generic story couple. But, its not only how fleshed out the two are, but how human they seem to me. Sky, who is portrayed by my good friend, Penny, is a strong-willed, compassionate soul who was dealt the hard hand in life, but came out better for it. Takumi is the opposite, someone who’s had his back shoved into a corner and had to fight like a rabid animal to escape. Right now their threads are few, and most their interactions are short, but how much they carry means more to me in the end.

- Number 2

Genji Shimada and Dr. Angela “Mercy” Ziegler (Overwatch)

(Superb artwork by @girlcarnivore!)

HA.

Honestly, I fell in love with Gency the second I saw it. Genji, a character which I find very interesting due to his internal war with himself, holds similarities with the good doctor that most can only see past the surface. Both had lost family in the past, Mercy losing her parents and Genji losing his brother, both through the burdens of wars, one being a physical one and the other a moral one. I feel that Mercy and Genji are two of the most personality rich characters in the game, period. Mercy, a doctor, who’s purpose is to heal and protect, has her creations turned to weapons, her research used to hurt, everything she’s stood for crumbling around her while she can only watch. Genji, a warrior who is torn between who he is and what he is, a machine, or a man, this internal struggle between himself, his brother, and his place in the universe. The tragedy that both had to face must have been unbearable, but in the grand scheme of things, all wounds heal, and all scars fade.

Honourable mentions!

- Steven Quartz Universe and Connie Maheswaran (Steven Universe)

- Jordan “Thermite” Trace and Yumiko “Hibana” Imagawa (Rainbow Six: Siege)

- Mugen and Fuu (Samurai Champloo)

- Marco Pagot and Madame Gina (Porco Rosso)

- Darwin Raglan Caspian Ahab Poseidon Nicodemius Watterson III and Carrie Krueger (The Amazing World of Gumball)

- Valkyrie Cain and Fletcher Renn (Skullduggery Pleasant series)

And now….

- Number 1

Yasuo “The Unforgiven” and Riven “The Exile” (League of Legends)

(Amazing artwork by @talgyu)

INHALES.

Okay, let’s do this.

Yasuo and Riven are perhaps my two favourite characters in any fictional setting, franchise or series. Yasuo, a disgraced warrior bent on honour and retribution, travelling the fine line between justice and vengeance with the woman who most likely killed his elder and forced him on this road, leading to the death of his friends and even his own brother? Impossible! That can’t happen!

Well, can’t it?

The main appeal for me, is how these two are identical on the opposite sides. Both were cast away from their nations, one fighting a war against it to save it, one fighting to save himself. They both believe in honour, in the hopes of justice and redemption. Both have endured so much pain, losing all the family they had, losing everything to the bloody sin we call war.

Riven, who’s most notable feature is her shattered sword, is a symbol of the ties being cut from her past. Yasuo, who’s blade is still whole, represents a very different story. The man who thinks he is whole is broken, and the woman who thinks she is broken is whole. The similarities, how they’ve hurt eachother so much without even knowing, is something which I want to see develop. Alot of people presume Yasuo will simply try to kill her outright. Why would he do that? That is against his whole character. The Unforgiven ended up here because of his foolish actions, by thinking too fast, by rushing in like a chaotic gust of wind. That man learned and was punished because of that. His symbolic ideals of balance, of life and death and creation and destruction that are so prevalent in his character would carry to his meeting with Riven.

Does he suspect her? Without a doubt. But will he rush to conclusions? No, only a wild and young wind will do that. Even in-game, everything he says to her is never a death threat, but always questions, questions he wants answers to. Their meetings are the beginning of the story, not the end.

If you wish for a wonderful piece of writing that almost perfectly explains their relationship, find “Follow The Wind” on Fanfiction.com by @tahimikamaxtli, I assure you will not be dissapointed.

Okay, now i’m gonna lie down.
