i love italian and so do you

wednesdaysandwhich  asked:

Nico and will getting to know each other through regular camp activities(They've both been through so much, I just need them whole and healing)

Here you go! But seriously, how do you end things?

How hate turned to love

Nico wasn’t lying when he said that he had hated the three-day stay in the infirmary. Sure, he had been allowed to go outside on the third day of his stay to ‘get some sun so that he could get his Italian tan back’ or something along those lines, but he still didn’t like being holed up in a room with white and yellow walls along with a bed with white bedsheets and a cupboard full of medical equipment. It made him unhappy to be in the light. He had complained about it to Will the morning of the second day, and when he thought back on it, he didn’t really know what to make of the conversation.

“I really hate being in this room. It’s too bright,” Nico grumbled as Will took his blood pressure. “And it’s even worse that you forced me to sleep with the lights on. That’s just straight-out embarrassing. The Son of Hades sleeping with the lights on?”

“It’s for your own good,” Will said, whistling as he stitched up Nico’s arm – the werewolf poison had dissolved the first set of mortal stitches, so now they were trying again, this time with enchanted thread. “I don’t want you to fade, so I don’t want you to be exposed to more darkness than there is in your body. It’s a lethal amount, you know. It’s eating you up from the inside.”

“I don’t care. How would feel if you were trapped in darkness the whole time? It’s the same thing with me and the light.”

Will stopped halfway in doing a stitch, the needle still deep in Nico’s arm. “Well, I guess you make a point, but I still have to keep you in the light. Just until the three days are up. After that, you can sleep without a light on again. Will that make you happy?”

It had made Nico happy to be able to be able to move back to his cabin and sleep in the darkness, but of course he hadn’t told Will that. In fact, he hadn’t talked to Will the last two weeks, apart from answering a couple questions about his health during the check-up one week ago.

He had done pretty well with avoiding Will outside of the check-ups, but a Thursday a month after his stay in the infirmary, he came to the sword-fighting class he taught with Percy to find the last person he expected to see there. Will Solace. Being taught by Percy how to disarm someone.

The tip of Nico’s sword hit the ground and the two demigods looked up, Will wiping the sweat away from his forehead with the back of his free hand.

“What the Hades are you doing here, Solace?” Nico asked. “Aren’t you supposed to be in the infirmary or with the rest of your cabin in archery?”

“Will here wanted to be able to handle a sword better,” Percy explained, taking a sip of his water bottle. “He’s not too bad. His moves are pretty rusty, but he has good reflexes and is a fast learner. Can you go through the basics with him while I teach the rest of the kids?”

Nico was about to say that he didn’t want anything to do with Will when he heard himself say, “Sure, why not?”

“Great!” Percy said before walking over to the rest of the group, which consisted of about a dozen demigods from different cabins.

Will smiled at Nico, his sky-blue eyes twinkling in the sunshine. Nico silently groaned, but picked up his sword and walked towards Will, wanting nothing more than to dive into the nearest shadow. How had he gotten himself into this mess?

A month later, it was Will’s time to be confused when Nico appeared in the archery class taught by his sister Kayla.

“I’m not here because I want to,” Nico muttered when Will asked him about it. “I lost a bet, okay? I have to take archery for a month.”

Over the next few archery classes, Will got to learn more about Nico, for example that his favourite colour was blue (not black like Will had originally thought), his birthday was the 28th of January and that he could speak Ancient Greek, Latin and Italian fluently.

“Really? Your favourite colour is purple?” Nico asked incredulously. “I would have thought it would have been like, green or red.

“Nope, it’s purple,” Will said, pointing to a part of the bandage. “If you cut it there, it should be long enough to wrap a small wound.”

Nico didn’t even say anything as he cut the bandage. So what if he was learning how to wrap wounds and stuff in the infirmary by Will? They were just friends. Whoa, that felt weird. Had he just called Will his friend? He had, and it had felt natural too, not wrong or forced at all.

“Nico? Are you okay? You totally zoned out for a minute there,” Will’s worried voice broke through his thoughts and he looked up at Will’s concerned face.

“I got lost in some thoughts.” Nico was silent for a bit. “We’re friends, right?”

“Of course we are.” Will pointed to a patient. “She just came in with a twisted ankle. Think you can fix it?”

Nico nodded with a determined expression. He could do this. He had learned and practised this for weeks now.

“Will? Why is Nico sitting with us?” Ella, Will’s seven-year-old sister asked one day at dinner. It was quite a cold day, and Nico was sitting closer to Will than usual in an attempt to steal the Son of Apollo’s body heat.

“Because he’s lonely at his own table. Therefore he’s sitting with me because we’re friends. That’s what friends do. We make sure that the other friend is not lonely. Right?”

Ella nodded. “Yeah! You’re my friend too, Nico. Because I don’t want you to be alone. That’s okay, right?”

Nico let a small smile tug at his lips. “Yes. That’s okay.”

“Five minutes, everybody!” Leo called out. All the campers were on the beach, counting down the minutes until New Years. Will was standing with Nico, the rest of the Seven as well as Rachel, Reyna and Calypso.

Everyone was holding their hands with their respective other – Percy with Annabeth, Piper with Jason, Hazel with Frank, Leo with Calypso and Reyna with Rachel. The only two not holding hands were Nico and Will, who were both sneaking glances at each other when they thought the other one didn’t see. The rest of their small crowd smirked at each other, knowing that both boys had massive crushes on the other.

Will swallowed. “Hey, Nico? Can I talk to you for a moment?”

Nico nodded as Leo called out, “Three minutes!”

They walked a bit away from the rest of the campers and Will took a deep breath. “There’s something I gotta tell you.”

Nico looked up at Will’s face illuminated by the lights hanging from the trees surrounding the beach. “Go ahead.”

Two minutes.

“You see Nico, I, um.” Will  silently cursed himself. He had never been good with words, but now was really not the time for his tongue to completely tie itself into knots.”

90 seconds.

“You what?” Nico asked confused. He had no idea what Will’s was going to say. Of course, he had his hopes, but they were firmly sealed away in his brain.

“I, um, I…”

One minute.

“Will? Are you okay? You look really nervous.” Nico had no idea why Will as acting like this, but he was assuming that something was wrong.

“I…” Will took a deep breath.

30 seconds.

“Damn it,” Will swore, running a hand through his hair. “I really like you, okay? Like, like you.”

Nico’s mind was going 90 miles an hour. Will… Will liked him?

10 seconds.

Nico could feel his eyes fill with tears of happiness and relief. “Really?”

5 seconds.

“I understand if you don’t like me back,” Will continued. “But I just wanted to tell you.”

“No! I really like you too!” Nico said quickly.

3 seconds.

Several emotions flashed across Will’s face before he stepped closer to Nico.

2 seconds.

“Can I kiss you?” Will breathed, wanting to kiss Nico before the New Year officially started.

1 second.

“Please do,” Nico whispered before pressing his lips against Will’s. It was his first kiss and he knew that it was Will’s first kiss too. He had learned that a month ago when it randomly came up in a conversation. But that didn’t matter now. Kiss Will now, think later, his brain reminded him and he closed his eyes, happily listening to his brain for once.

0 seconds.

hey hey hey, so I've had this jansport backpack for a while, but I find it really small since I have to carry around several notebooks and a huge binder + my lunch and some other stuff, do you have any backpack recommendations (or at least a way to make the backpack feel bigger)?

Hi!! OK my backpack is enormous and I LOVe it because I always have so much stuff and never understand how people can fit everything into tiny little bags, but jansports are pretty standard at my school!

My backpack is an expandable backpack from the Italian company Invicta. It’s kind of similar to this model on the site! The bag is definitely on the pricier side but it’s so worth it in my opinion!! I’ve used invicta bags since first grade! I had a non-expandable backpack (with mozart on it! it was so cool tbh) from grades 1-6 (for 7-8 I used some random cheap backpack I found in my closet) and I got my current backpack in 9th grade, and i’m still using it! the straps provide so much support and I can carry TOns of stuff without my back hurting, and everything fits in without a problem. they’re super durable 10/10 would recommend

If you can’t get one of those, I’d definitely look for some kind of expandable backpack - mine has zippers on the side so that you can adjust how big the bag feels. I wouldn’t recommend messenger bags because they put too much strain on one side of your body, but a big backpack is gr8! Also if you can’t get your hands on a bigger backpack for next year or whatever you could try arranging your books by size! That’ll help distribute the weight more evenly and just keep everything organized .I like to put big notebooks/textbooks/binders in the back and work my way to the front of the main pocket, and then I put my lunch/smaller books in the smaller pocket.

Hope this helps you  ♡

“I love Italian. And so do you.”

Always wondered what the story was behind that line, so I decided to draw these babes out to eat. Maybe it’s Valentines day for them, or they just decided to have a nice meal. I like to think it’s a favorite restaurant and the servers know their usual orders (something vegetarian for Spock and something indulgent with heavy cream for Kirk, probably.)

Ciao, hallo, ahoj, здра́вствуйте…that’s hello (hi) in languages that I’m learning - italian, german, slovak/czech (my first language) and russian. As you can see, I love languages. You could call me a language freak. I enjoy learning them and I would love to see other people enjoying it too. So that’s why I’m here today. Writing this post about how to learn any foreing language.

For me, vocabulary is the most important part of any language. You can know the grammar, the pronunciation and everything else, but if you don’t know words, you can’t do anything. For many years, as I was younger, I struggled to learn new words. I often just translated them and that was all. Then I finally did what was necessary. I wrote them down.
Yes, that’s the first step. Write the freakin’ words somewhere, then write the translation, if you need to, a sentence where it is used (in languages such as german, do it so the word will be in nominative, so you won’t mess up the article). Read it out loud and when revising, make flashcards.
One tip when it comes to flashcards with vocab. Don’t make a flashcard of every single word you have on your list. It will consume your time, paper and your energy. Do it only with really hard words that you can’t remember.

  • 2. GRAMMAR

This is the most annoying thing for me to this day. I don’t like grammar, I struggled with grammar even in my native language (because we have i/y and billions of rules, you would understand if you were from Slovakia). What usually works for me is a simple training. Make a chart of the words in sentence, and write how did they change, or where do they need to be and so. Then just write simple sentences and have someone to correct them (teacher or some friend who is really good in the language).

  • 3. READ

Read books and articles in the language that you are trying to learn. Underline and translate the words you don’t understand (then follow the steps in 1.) Reading help so much. My english is not a product of teachers in schools and language courses after school. It’s the product of me reading every single book in english since I was 10 (or around 10 I think). Don’t worry about you not enjoying the book or the plot. That will come later. First few books are there for you to get used to it and then you will enjoy it. I promise.

  • 4. SPEAK & WRITE

Find someone who you can speak and/or write with. Native speakers are the best and if they know your first language, that’s even better. This can help you so much, because you are actually using the language in real life situation. If you don’t know anyone in person, try the internet (if you want to speak with me, message me any time).

This one is really simple, just set the language to the one you want to learn. First you can try with only subtitles, then also the language. Maybe you won’t notice, but you will learn the correct pronunciation of words and you will learn the accent.

If you are on your computer or phone, use sites like:

  • duolingo
  • memrise
  • quizlet
  • any news site in language of your choice

There are also applications where you can create digital flashcards (Wokabulary for example).

Never forget - the biggest thing is to have motivation. Don’t learn a language without one. Find something you love about the language, have some goal or something, but don’t learn the language just because you need to. It only makes you hate the language.
For example I learn italian because I love the culture and people there and I want to be able to make friends in Italy as I go there every year. My reason to learn german is that I want to study (and late maybe live) in Austria and there is only a limited number of universities that teach in english so I need to be really good in german. Find something like this and I guarantee you that your next hobby is going to be called “foreing languages”.

I hope this will help you on your journey to become the ultimate language freak like me.

You're SO good at English I can't BELIEVE it's a secondary language!!! Do you speak any other languages?

I speak some Italian (years and years of babysitting my Italian neighbors during the summer) and I’m self-taught at Spanish (I speak it so-so, understand 95 % of it to the point I helped with translating a manga from Spanish, but I can’t write it that much), and I wanna learn more languages during my life if I get the time because I think it’s a beautiful thing to be able to communicate with others in different languages

The right time for spells

If you open old occult books, you will find loads of timetables.
The saying “A time for each thing, for each thing its time” I believe stems from here.
You don’t just have “thursdays are for luck spells, fridays for love spells”. They go much more into detail.

They work like this: from bigger to smaller.
So you have the season first.
Then the phase of the moon.
Then the day (as above).
Then, of course considering from sunrise to sunset, the hours.

Which means that, according to old occult books, maybe that love spell you’ve just read, should be performed on a spring full moon, friday, in the hours of Jupiter.

While I’m so much happier with the approach that neopaganism has brought to this matter (either: do it when you have the time, or adjust your spell to the timing), this “old fashion” of doing things has its appeal.

Let’s say you want to do a big spell, a lifechanging one, something more than the usual daily glamour or little luck spells.
You select your spell, you select your day and everything else.

You look for that on your calendar… it’s five months away.
Oh. You say.
Well, let’s see the bright side.

You have five months to start collecting the supplies (the perfect ones, not just those that “will make do”).
You have five months to start acting accordingly.
Let’s say you want to do a job spell, or a home spell, or a travel spell.
Start taking courses, applying to anything, looking for places to live, making lists of what you want, saving even those little cents you can by chosing a cheaper product over another one.
And so on, and so forth.

All this will build up determination, focus, willpower, momentum.
To the summa of your spell.

Hope this helps :)

hi !! i love your art btw but i need advice, there's a slim chance i could be a concept artist for my studio but i need to send in a portfolio and sample character designs, almost all of my character designs are fan art which i can't submit but ifk how i should go about making a bunch of new ones

I’m not sure what advise you’re expecting from me. How to come up with original character designs? I’m not a professional and I’ve never created a portfolio so I have no idea if this can help you in any way or not but this is what I do sometimes when creating a character - I made up a story (it doesn’t have to be anything complicated) like imagine an Italian florist, he’s tall, has a big nose (because he loves smells of flowers :)) and curly hair. He’s in love with a woman who buys flowers in his shop every day. Such a flower shop au (I’m disappointed in myself xD) And here he is:

① Something like this? :)
② Look how happy he is when he talks about the woman of his dreams! lol
But what if he was short and plump? Well… in ③ he looks more like a mafioso, I can hear his hoarse voice “You’ll all be pushing up daisies…”

Anyway, you can draw whatever, whoever, but if you know a bit the character you want to draw it’s easier to make them look the way you want and give them a particular personality. This is why you’ve no problem with designs based on someone else’s stories. You already know those characters. Now you just need to make up something yours?
Good luck with the job!!! :)

Italy bros, reacting to s/o making bad puns!:

(You guys might hate me but I don‘t care. Puns are my favorite god damned thing in this world.)
Italy/Feliciano Vargas-
Italy would love this, and absolutely adore all the puns. He’d laugh heavily after each one and toss back a few of his own.
“Did you hear about the Italian chef that died?”
“What? No I never heard of a-” It was so cute when he thought you were serious.
“He pasta away.” And he beamed.
“What do women and spaghetti have in common?”
“They both wiggle when you eat them.” The Italian blushed heavily, but you can hear Spain dying in the background.
Romano/Lovino Vargas-
You only told him jokes when he was in a bad mood. Most of the time, though he never admitted it, it cheered him up.
“What do Italians eat on Halloween?”
“Bella, no.” He sighed, already knowing where you were going, and he wasn’t up for that trip.
“Fetuccini A-fraid-o” You got in his ear and wrapped your arms around him. While most people would think this as affection, he knew you were trapping him.
“What do you call a fake noodle?” His eyes widened in horror.
“No.” He said, strictly serious.
“Romano.” You retorted, just as deadpan.
“No.” He raised his voice.
“Romano…what do you caaall a fake nooodle?!” You whined, doing you best to hold him on the sofa.
“No!” He tries crawling away, but no such luck.
“What?!” You won.
It‘s an Impasta.” You whisper, knowing the soft tone would only piss him off all the more.

‘¡Oye!’ Spell Jar

Hi guys, how are you doing today? You might not know this, but I love to study new languages (I’m currently learning Italian & wrapping up my Spanish). So I thought about doing a little something to help improve my skills. Here’s what I came up with…

To help you learn another language faster.

  • Rosemary (to enhance memory)
  • Moon water (to improve memory)
  • Beach sand (to encourage new growth)
  • ‘My language skills improve faster’ sigil

  1. Activate your sigil (i chose fire)
  2. Deposit the beach sand at the bottom of your jar
  3. Sprinkle a bit of rosemary on top of the sand
  4. Pour moon water until it covers the sand entirely
  5. Toss the sigil (or its ashes) inside and close the jar

jfhdkxb I love how no matter what language dub you'll take, "I cradled you in my arms!" is always so gay, or even gayer (like.. in french dub Keith literaly says "I rocked you tenderly in my arms!" and I just...... wow)

AAAAAH I know I was actually thinking that if we ever get an italian dub (and i hope there will be one) it happened to me that sometimes the dub made things more romantic than they were intended i hope they do that with that scene lmahbd

okay but prussia constantly antagonizing romano by getting things off of high shelves for him even though romano can reach them just fine and he’s getting so annoyed all the time while italy is like “??? he’s just trying to be helpful he does that for me too??” and romano’s like “nO YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND”

Some general language goals/aspirations for 2017

I know - I’m late for the goal thing but who cares anyway.
So here are my goals when it comes to language learning in 2017:

  • read Harry Potter (first book, start slow)
  • learn Imperfetto & some future form
  • in generally more tenses and grammatical stuff because it’s a mess
  • do something for your studies every day
  • reactivate your vocabulary app
  • write one journal entry in Italian at the end of every month
  • talk to the people on HelloTalk more
  • go to Italy
  • don’t lose your love for it, your motivation - you’re doing this for fun and yourself not anything or anyone else

Sounds like a plan …

“Et, voila!” you exclaimed with a proud smile, as you produced this evening’s meal- spaghetti Bolognese- for your mutant friends. “It’s actually Italian, but I don’t Italian, so…voila!”

“Why thank you, Y/N,” Erik smiled coyly at you, accepting a plate. “You really are an incredible cook, and French speaker it would seem. Say, do you speak anything else?”

Accepting the challenge in his eyes, you nodded. “Just a little.”

“Well, perhaps you could show me later,” he added with a suggestive wink.

Your eyes widened but you kept an incredulous quirk to your lips and passed a plate to Charles, giving him a sweeter smile, which he returned as ever. “It really is lovely of you to cook for us, Y/N,” he told you, that adorable little glint in his eye.

Shooting him a special smile you reserved just for the Professor, you continued handing around the plates. Alex, Hank, Raven and Sean all took their full pates eagerly and began wolfing down the food.

Tidying up a bit around the kitchen, while they ate, you started putting some of the pans away- meaning you had to stretch high to reach the top shelf, inadvertently baring a thin sliver of your back and making your ass pert to those behind you.

A sudden eruptive cough made you spin back around in time to see Erik watching you with hunger in his eyes and Charles glaring furiously at him.

“Everything alright?” you asked.

Charles set down his knife and fork and pushed his chair out to stand. “You know what, Y/N, this meal is perfect but do you mind if Erik and I have a quick little chat?”

Waving your hand in order for them to continue you shrugged to yourself and began humming a meaningless little tune while you scrubbed the dishes in the sink.

“What the hell is wrong with you, Erik?” Charles demanded as soon as the heavy doors were closed.

His old friend just shrugged and stared blankly at the professor. “What do you mean?”

Narrowing his eyes, Charles growled, “You know exactly what I mean. How can you have such loud thoughts like that about her? You know how I feel about her, Erik! How could you- urgh!” He threw his hands up in defeat.

“Oh please,” was the reply. Erik rolled his eyes and added, “Well you still haven’t told her or made any kind of move. I figured, why not? She’s single.” He noted that last statement with a quirk of his eyebrows.

But that was the last straw.

The telepath lunged at the spoon bender and they both crashed backwards.

There was a sudden loud crash in the study that Erik and Charles had gone into to have a ‘little chat’. You eyed it warily; it seemed your friends had heard it too because they were all staring at the closed doors with varying degrees of curiosity, as well.

After a second, louder, crash sounded, you tossed the dish cloth, you’d been using, to the dish rack and approached the door suspiciously. When you heard a pained grunt that you recognised all too well.

Flinging the doors open, your jaw dropped at the scene in front of you.

Charles was straddling Erik and the pair of them were wrestling  on the floor- various metallic objects were flying around the room, accompanied by random other objects.

With a click of your fingers, everything settled back to its original place and the two men caught sight of you, freezing immediately.

“Anyone want to tell me what the hell is going on?” you inquired, folding your arms and raising your eyebrows.

The two men shared a look, Erik seemed to be gesturing wildly with his eyes at Charles. Finally, the telepath shuffled forwards, looking anywhere but you and chewing his lip shyly. “I understand, it-it’s not the greatest moment but, I have, umm, something to tell you, Y/N,” he mumbled.

Hooking a finger under his chin, you lifted his head upwards to look at you.

Everything seemed to drift off him then and he managed to breath out, “I’m in love with you.”

Your momentary confidence faltered and you stuttered, “O-oh.” Colour flushed his cheeks and he seemed to be battling an internal struggle.

“I understand if you don’t feel the same way, of course-” he started, but you cut him off by wrapping a hand around his neck and pulling him down to you, capturing his soft lips in a passionate kiss that quickly deepened.

Breaking apart, you searched his eyes before whispering softly, “Of course I do, you oblivious telepath.”

Elizabeth: “When I entered the Bachelorette I was looking for a husband, of course. But what I didn’t expect to find was you. A soulmate. Someone I struggled to go through a day without speaking to. I love you so much, Ruben and I vow to be the perfect wife for you.”

Ruben: “Elizabeth. After our first date together, at that Italian restaurant, I knew I was gone. There was no other girl in the world for me but you. And I knew all I had to do was wait for you to realise the same thing. For the rest of our lives, Elizabeth, I will do my utmost as a husband to give you everything you deserve and love you, always.”

This was when the guests thought now would be a good idea to stop eating popcorn and come and see what was going on.
