MASTERLIST

Y/N stared at her phone, rereading Sebastian’s text for about the 100th time. He was running late to their date - again. She was not surprised, but saddened nonetheless. It had become a habit of his the past few months. Part of her understood, he was becoming more successful and part of her was angry, shouldn’t she still be a priority?

She sighed and cast her gaze outside the window; it was a dark and stormy evening, rain crashing into the glass in rhythmic patterns. It was almost as though it was mocking her. Y/N felt ridiculous sitting in the fancy restaurant by herself, dressed to the nines in a black lace gown, swearing to the waiters that Sebastian was coming and they’d order soon. It had already been a good hour, she was getting impatient and embarrassed.

“Miss?” she was drawn out of her thoughts by the waiter coming back once again. Her cheeks reddened when she saw his annoyed expression.

“I’m actually going to be leaving,” she replied hastily as she grabbed her purse and headed off in the direction of the door, “I’m sorry for wasting your time.”

A few heads turned in her direction as she rushed past them all, a few rogue tears sliding down her cheeks.

Tagged by @zmediaoutlet and @purgatoan to name the 10 songs I’m most obsessed with right now. Thanks for this because your lists had so many great artists. I’m on mobile so no links.

  • Call and Answer by Barenaked Ladies. The whole unrequited friends to lovers vibe is a fanfic waiting to happen (okay I’ve already written 500 words.)
  • Murder (or a Heart Attack) by Old 97s. It’s essentially a love song to his missing cat. His cat.
  • Can’t Let Go by Lucinda Williams. Her voice. Delicious.
  • Girlfriend by Matthew Sweet. That guitar opening is my favorite.
  • Defying Gravity from Wicked. Discovered the Broadway channel on Pandora on Christmas Eve. Enough said.
  • Good Day by Luce. I’m a sucker for happy songs with a beat.
  • Middle of the Road by The Pretenders. Chryssie Hinde is my idol.
  • Off the Ground by The Record Company. I could listen to this whole album again and again.
  • American Girl by Tom Petty. RIP Tom.
  • Shattered by Green Day.

Tagging a few people if they’d like to do the thing. @anotherwinchesterfangirl @alulaspeaks @soy-em @nerdygeekypastrychef @sasquatchandleatherjacket and anyone else who’d like to do it. Need to find new tunes :)

Hey remember that episode of Spongebob where Sandy sings about being homesick for Texas and Spongebob and Patrick overhear it and are worried that she’s going to leave Bikini Bottom so they have a Texas party at the Krusty Krab with all their friends, recreating things in Sandy’s song but they fuck it up like, pecan pie is just a can of peas shoved in a pie, barbeque is barbed wire in the shape of a Q, and the ten gallon hats are just plastic water jugs on their heads, and like…. Sandy just laughs so hard she breaks into tears, cause she sees what they’re trying to do for her to make her feel at home because they love her and don’t want her to leave…………… yo do you ever think about that goddamn episode

  • also the creators of this musical, apparently: well we cant have a poison scorpion on stage so how about luke just fuckin stabs percy in the back? hm?
  • the stage was a huge mess of confetti and toilet paper by the end which is truly the only way a percy jackson musical should end
  • please go see this if you have the chance it’s so funny and so good, it’s really an amazing adaption that gets the tone of the book so well and every actor captures their character(s) perfectly, they all clearly know the material and seem like they’re having so much fun onstage, i loved it so much!!!!

  • the reason melodrama is so complex is that it simultaneously celebrates and criticises parties as a place where the rules no longer apply
  • parties give us an illusion of control? confined in the world of the party it’s all ‘our rules, our dreams’ and we are ‘kings and queens’
  • homemade dynamite is such a call to arms for our generation okay it feels like a metaphor for the potential we all have to create change
  • but equally could be a metaphor for our self-destructive tendencies???
  • the louvre is beautiful because it glorifies the tiny beautiful moments, relationships that don’t last forever but are still beautiful and priceless and are still works of art - masterpieces and still good enough for the louvre
  • also this is a song about writing a love song? ‘broadcast the boom boom boom and make ‘em all dance to it’ that is literally the conventional role of pop music?
  • okay but hear me out i think liability/hard feelings are two versions of the same story, liability immediately after the split and hard feelings in retrospect!!!!! there are so many parallels!!!
  • let go of this endless summer afternoon vs. every endless summer’s eating me alive
  • well i guess i should go vs. well i guess i’ll go home
  • big mistake of dancing in my storm vs.  how you’d dance for me
  • i am obsessed with how sober ii explores the performance of being a young adult like ‘oh how fast the evening passes’ and the references to ‘champagne’ suggests some form of performed sophistication
  • ‘we told you this was melodrama’ could play on this idea of performing a role, or alternatively could play on the way society views the lives of millennials - melodramatic and ridiculous!!!
  • ‘they’ll talk about us, all the lovers, how we kissed and killed each other’  reminds us that this is our legacy, this is how we live forever - it’s super self-reflective and seems to call on us to consider the mark we are leaving on the world BUT also ‘romanticises us making us the stuff of myth and legend, we are immortalised forever in our scandal
  • writer in the dark!!!!! so like to begin with that double meaning - kissing her literally in the dark / kissing her while he kept her in the dark about how he really felt
  • this is lorde’s ‘blank space’ revenge song okay fight me on this
  • her secret power is being able to keep him forever bc she ‘locks him in her heart’ he’ll rue the day he kissed her because in doing so he sealed his fate!!!
  • this is actually REALLY CREEPY I WANT A CREEPY MUSIC VIDEO!!!!
  • okay so love of my life supercut: every chorus is like the actual supercut playing back all the good parts back - that sunny pre-chorus with the repetition, mirroring the idea of a highlights reel playing over and over again
  • but it’s also a metaphor for seeing a past relationship through rose-tinted glasses/the way nostalgia makes things beautiful - she is only remembering the beautiful parts
  • okay but the ultimate storyline of the album seems to be from green light, sober, homemade dynamite we get the impression that ‘all there is, is the party’, whereas liability reprise suggests that ‘maybe all this is the party’ which is such a beautiful and hopeful discovery for the album to make - leading straight into perfect places, which celebrates life with all it’s imperfections and flaws!!!

Let’s promise each other something: because darling, oh darling. I know you want to press pause on the movie that is your life, because I do, I do. And I know you sometimes get so tired of carrying the weight of the world on those slim shoulders. I know you look into the mirror and see plain features and feel roaring waves of inadequacy, I know, I know.

I know you’ve got a little voice whispering inside of you you’ll never be good enough. I know you try to protect yourself, to shield yourself to not care because you fear the heartbreak that comes with caring to much but doing this makes you put yourself on the sidelines, makes people stop inviting you and I know, God, I know how much this hurts.

So let’s promise each other something: whenever this happens, this little voice trying so hard to protect us and only winding up hurting us: let’s promise each other to cry a little, to cry a lot. To take a shower, to listen to music and really, truly listen, think about nothing else. To write about wanting to give up but to keep on going, to eat something healthy too, even if we eat up a whole pack of potato chips or chocolate cookies, to grant ourselves this small reprieve instead of hating ourselves afterwards for the way we can pinch our belly between skinny fingers.

Listen to me, please, let’s promise each other to take a walk, to walk past a bridge or a body of water, to admire the darkness but remember the coldness and to keep on going. Remember that stranger that smiled, the one that helped you reach a high shelve, that picked up some change and gave it back, to remember the bus driver that waited on that busy intersection to let you get on, to remember all those little kindnesses from strangers you’ll never forget and to remember that we, too, have got so many little kindnesses to give and that there must be a stranger out there somewhere that remembers these plain features, these brown eyes and not so white teeth.

Let’s promise each other, that, please, please, but let’s also promise each other to sometimes let go and cry and to look after ourselves. Let’s remember that being kind and nice and good does not mean letting people walk over ourselves. And let’s define ourselves: if we like to be alone, sometimes, if we like to close the curtains against the world and drown in music and song, why be jealous of that one friend that is always talking to someone if the mere idea of holding more than three conversations is exhausting. If you love that girl everyone else seems to find annoying, hold steady to it, say “I like her and I like you and is there a problem?” because nothing will feel worse, and of this I am so absolutely certain, nothing will feel worse than betraying yourself.
Darling please, let’s promise each other, that on those lowest moments, on those darkest nights, when we feel like no one will love us ever, we’ll think of our achievements, even if they were something that feels so small and insignificant, like eating one cookie less or getting out of bed, if we were proud of them they matter and so do we. So do we.

And let’s promise each other we’ll think of our families, or about the friends we’ve had and that even though it always felt like we were the second choice, we were a choice, so they wanted us in their lives. Let’s think of the stranger we once helped, and think that maybe they remember us. Let’s think of the things that we love, and let’s think about the fact that the CO2 we expel from our lungs feed plants and bacteria and that we matter. That we have done some good in this world and that hopefully we’ll be able to do some more. That everything will be all right someday as long as we keep going.
Darling, let’s promise each other, that though we are strangers that may have never met, I’ll love you and you’ll love me, and we’ll think about each other sometimes, because we understand each other so perfectly, because I know that voice in your head as well as you know the ache in my bones and the tiredness of my eyelids, and we’ll keep on existing and breathing and loving and not giving up no matter how many times our heart breaks because we know they are not alone in breaking and so maybe, just maybe, they will not be alone in healing either because we will have each other to think of, to remember and to smile through the tears together.

Okay so I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s for quite a while now, and i fell in love with her music during the Fearless era because I love that genre of music. Although 1989 is pop, and Reputation seems to be following in it’s footsteps I can appreciate the guts and diversity in Taylor’s songwriting abilities. Yes, ‘Ready for it?’ is complete 360 compared to Taylor’s old music, and yes It is not my preferred genre but this girl is damn good at writing music that’s out of her ‘norm’. Let’s not forget this is the same girl that wrote the hit country song ‘Better Man’ recently and also ‘TIWYCF’….. I can appreciate her ambition to want to change things up because that is a risky move in the music industry. Especially since your fans fell in love with her country music. She was risking losing fans because of that. I think the guts she has is applaudable. Her ability to be so diverse with her genres is amazing, that’s what a real artist is.

BMC REVIVAL!!

ALRIGHT GUYS I JUST FINISHED THE SHOW AND OH. NY. GOD. IVE GOT STUFF TO SAY

(WARNING: THIS IS LONG AS HELL)

- the guy who played Jeremy had such a great voice, he pulled off the awkward vibe and executed the jokes so well

- michael. fucking. MELL. boy oh boy.

- SO GOOD

- his voice sounded EXCATLY like George Salazar,, he was adorable and amazing

- alright so before I continue talking about Michael mell (my love) lemme tell u about the audience

- lots of people were in michael cosplay and tbh? I was there for it like it looked so good

- and they were VERY vocal, I’ve been to many shows and I’ve never heard a louder audience

- I’m talking full on screaming

- anyway my point was that when Michael first went onstage the entire place BLEW UP

- the whole mall scene with Michael and Jeremy never happened, they just went straight to Payless

- also the beanbags didn’t drop out of the ceiling for two player game (mildly disapointing) but AAAA IT WAS SO GOOD

- in the beginning Michael stands behind Jeremy and like touches his hair and puts his head on his shoulder (!!)

- and during the “faaavwite personnn” part they’re both standing and michael cuddles into Jeremy’s chest, and Jeremy like playfully shoves him back and he goes falling down into the beanbags

- during the whole second part when they go “find the bad guys push them aside” they didn’t jump over all the chairs and stuff, the scene changed behind them but the stood at the front of the stage and did these karate moves and noises

- CUTE AS HELL

- the guy who played the squip was INSANLY GOOD

- michael in the bathroom. oh my god.

- you could physically see him shaking and starting to break down, by the end of the song he could barely get the words out because he was so upset oml

- the girl who played Christine was!!!!!!!!! amazing!!!!! she was so peppy and bubbly (I love play rehearsal was AMAZING), but you could still see that her character had a lot of depth

- when Michael makes an entrance at the end he came in from the audience up onto the stage and everyone just SHRIEKED

- AND RICH WAS SO HILARIOUS AND ADORABLE

- at the end he was talking in the lisp!!!

- and when he said “oh my god I’m TOTALLY bi” everyone started cheering, then when he said “so what about the headphones kid? Is he your boyfriend?” Michael walked into the room like half smiling and being all bashful and HAKDMWOE

- when Jeremy was onstage with Christine during the play Michael was on the side of the stage, everyone else was standing super still but he was shifting a lot and looked super antsy

- and the cast after was super nice!!!!! everyone took pictures with the fans and they were so grateful

I could write so much more about this buttt I’m probably being super annoying,,, but yeah it was SO GOOD,,, anyway there’s a q&a kinda thing on Sunday at the theater with some of the original cast (INCLDING GEORGE SALAZAR), so that’s a thing if ur interested!
