i love doing these watercolour things

Watercoloured Elf - yeah i really didn’t know what else to call it xD but I’m super happy with how it turned out. It’s been a while since I made an OC and now that I think about it I don’t think I ever used colour.. I wanted to try and work with watercolours to see how it’d turn out andddd needless to say I might use those from now on ^^” I’m super satisfied with the outcome. Here’s to more fanart^^ artblock begone!

i’ve had a bit of interest in these so - i’m opening up watercolour sketch commissions! you tell me what to do, i’ll do the thing, and then send it to your place w/ a big ol’ thank you and a lot of love. also probably a tiny sketch to show my appreciation!

also, for a little extra, i’ll do a speedpaint like these ones

if this sounds like your jam or if you have any questions, please send me an ask, IM, or an email at emma@stoffberg.com! thank u! i hope you have a chill day

Last year on this day I started working on my Monty Oum Project; a series of 7 small comics, each 3 to 4 panels. At the time I wanted to see if I could work the the comic format even with Watercolours. Turns out I could! And had lots of fun doing it!

So! This year I’m throwing myself in something along the same line, only bigger, now that I’m more confident that I can do it.

One of the first thing that got me into watercolours was way back in Highschool, I had an English teacher give us a children book project in which we had to write a full book for kids and since we were all an art class, he gave us the go to illustrate them for bonus points. Grade aside(aced it btw) it made me fall in love with Watercolours and the whole illustration thing

THEREFORE this year for the @montyoumproject I’m gonna work on a series of children book-like stories featuring the AH Kings AU ✨✨

Wish me luck!!

SUNMOON POKEDDEX DAY 3 - Favourite Fairy Type: Comfey

This was a pretty tough category because my favourites of the non-legendary Alolan fairies are appointed in other slots. I would’ve drawn Morelull because I just love the concept but I’m going to draw it for another project later so I chose to do something different. I guess Comfey is pretty nice. I kinda like the concept plus it was quite interesting to design it. I had some ideas what to base it on but I decided to go with a fluffy moth since I felt like it would be most fitting to the concept and it felt more interesting than some small ambiguous fairy thing.

Do not be amazed for Colour Bandits have no morals these days

so i just wanted to bring back the Colour Bandit because it’s the greatest most inspiring thing i’ve ever seen until this very day. Thanks @kickthepj for existing, you make my gooey brainbox a bright and happy place.

Finally made a fanart for Moomin, which I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I tried to mix how things looks in the cartoon with how I do it;) The idea for this painting is that Snufkin leaves in the fall and meets the dragon again. If you haven’t watched Moomin before, I highly recommend it, I have loved watching it since I was a kid. (Also sorry some parts of it may be a bit blurry, scanner isn’t the best!)

Watercolour Spirited Away Portrait Wall

Felt like doing another wall of tiny portraits after the previous Jurassic one :>

rainbowcreampuffe  asked:

How well do you draw on paper tho?

hmmm I feel, doodle-wise it’s about the same traditionally and digitally!
I just take a bit more time traditionally because I can’t copy + paste the panels like I do digitally:

Usually I prefer doing the comic stuff digitally, but if I’m too lazy to boot up my computer I just doodle in my little sketch book! :’D
If you’re asking about actual drawings, I don’t actually have many (because I have the drawing stamina of a squashed tomato trying to skateboard with no wheels whoops ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) but I do have some tucked away in my sketchbook!

There’s a lot of Final Haikyuu quest doodles/drawings in there because I,,, well,,, weLL ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽

(Also the “at the vine tree, turn left” thing was a FHQ!! headcanon story excerpt by my good friend hina, about iwaoi finding each other in the forest in their childhood. Back in the day I wanted to make a series of these tiny watercolours and create small opening for a self-indulgent FHQ!! parody game but alas, squashed tomato drawing stamina strikes again but im determined to finish it somehow!!!)

I just wanted to express how grateful I am for all the people who love my art and me(even when I sometimes don’t).

I know it’s cliche but I really mean it.

I don’t like appearing weak, but I know it happens. I have low self-esteem, have a horribly pessimistic world view, there is always a shadow of self-doubt over anything I do. My negativity is endless and I’m often hateful and bitter about myself(and a lot of other things).

But knowing you guys like my art and are always supporting me (y’all know who you are)…I really don’t know how to describe this in words. I just want to keep doing better(both as an artist and as a person) so I will never have to disappoint anyone who has given me their love and support.

tl;dr: thanks

Hey I really love your art! would you ever be up for sharing your art process (hopefully your watercolour process since that's the most exciting) I would love to see how your art is made!~ and if you don't feel up for it don't worry about it uwu

Hi! Sorry so much time has passed, I got your ask after a r&m comic and assumed that’s the drawing process you’re interested in, and finished another one only recently <:3 Anyway! The drawing process of my previous post (lots of pictures):

may I ask if it is it from real life, like your neighborhood? or the neighborhood of your imagination? :)

It’s mostly from a photo reference but some of the details and tree placements are made up. I love cottage type architecture and am always pinning pictures I find on Pinterest. Occasionally I’ll sketch them but I have this project I’m supposed to be doing that involves building architecture. So I’m trying to get some practice in so I can get the real thing accurate and to find my style (so to speak - so it doesn’t look like a 5 year old drew it. lol). Need to work on the perspective, scale and shadows. It looks really flat but it’s okay for the 1st go round.

i want to live there!!

Me too! Although, I think my imaginary sketch world is more cozy and fun than the real thing. ;) I always wonder who actually live in these houses that are pictured on the internet.

Here are 4 of my watercolour illustrations. I love so many different things about these illustrations. I love how they each tell such a strong narrative, even though they are such simple drawings. I love my use of washes to build shadow shapes and depth. Obviously there are some things I would do differently in the future, but overall I’m very pleased with how these turned out. Also, when I was on the subway coming home from school I was holding these in my hands and a little girl came up to me and said “i really like your drawings.” Honestly just hearing that makes all the stress and frustration that comes with art worth it.

Paintbrushes, bones, dragons and typewriter. :)

Hi frienddddd! :D

Paintbrushes: Do you have a creative past-time?

I like to dance (I’m not formally trained or anything; just basic-ass Bollywood dancing). Art-wise, I photoshop, and I’m trying to teach myself watercolours and lettering. Also I like writing, but my muse is a tricky bitch who’s mostly away on holiday and just drops in on me once or twice a year. Right now, I guess this blog is my biggest creative past-time! :)

Bones: Name one strength and one weakness.

  • Strength: My sense of humour, I’d like to think.
  • Weakness: Lack of motivation/discipline, for anything and everything. Even the things I really love to do, I don’t, because  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (I honestly can’t tell where my mental illness ends, and where my being a lazy piece of shit begins.)
    • The fact that I manage to get the lbs up on this blog consistently is one of my biggest wins!

Dragons: What makes you feel powerful, what breathes life into you?

Intense love. Or intense hate. There are no in-betweens.

Typewriter: If you had to come up with ten words to describe your life story so far, what would they be?

Tragicomedy, (Mis)Adventures, Mental Black Holes, Inappropriate Laughter, Friends, Family, and Fries!

Send me some lovely asks!

The Wizard & His Ninja

KuroFai double whammy for Inktober bc:
- I love their love w the entirety of my being.
- I was still feeling infinitely jet lagged & what better way to spend conscious-during-the-AMs time.
- or like, the actual catalyst of the situation where I actually just failed to put my copics away post-solo-Fai-piece colouring.

Artist Notes:
Both pieces were conceptualized several months apart with the top my most recent, & the bottom being one of the first KF things I doodled ever. I mentioned I’m pretty consistent in my portrayal w Kurogane but find that I’m much more fluid w Fai’s design bc, well, he often canonically changes aesthetically, & can be such a facially expressive character (unlike Kurogane’s holy trinity of serious, livid, & that feral smirk thing he does when he’s abt to do a murder). Both were outlined using Microns, highlights w a White Sakura Gelly Roll, & coloured using the 72 set Copic Sketch.

  • First Image: I actually posted the purely inked version back when I was meandering about Tokyo & found an Excelsior Cafe to plop at (Lattes 200% recommend). I was super happy that day! & wanted to do something fun & sweet! Copics I think are the 3rd traditional medium I’m most attuned to (Right behind watercolour & pencil) so I was able to have fun w colouring Fai’s hair + the contour of Kuro’s angular cheekbones.
  • Second Image: Inked & coloured version of the sketch I’d actually unearthed & posted a couple days ago. Likely the 500th time I’ve said this but I just LOVE their perfect colour scheme foils; artistically stimulating to work with since there are so many different things to consider with their individual palettes & keeps it motley!
I also come bearing still zero to no context as to why they lack apparel.

Watercolour brush lettering and illustrations. If I had planned this a bit better then the lettering would be neater but It’s ok, I’m still happy with how this looks. Especially the pop of green. I love that green.

I was asked how I do my flowers so I will perhaps do a process video when I have some free time. Oh! I should mention that this one is all freehand and straight with the brush - I normally start off with my pencil guides because I like things to be perfect but for these wreaths I have found it’s better to just go on in and see where the ink flows :)

So as today I had my screen free day (eye issues with the screen) I was doing the forbidden things; do the blood magic with traditional media.

Now she has a more fancy dress to add to her cloth collection v_v

Also for the theme (redhead in white) I just blame h-e-l-i-g ;D

Next time I will use proper paper for watercolour to avoid those adorable paper waves :|

Small something for @lupin-bitch - I’m sorry that we don’t talk that often anymore, but, here, have a songbird…given that you still love him as much?

And due to the reposter thing, I am now going to put my tumblr name and “do not repost” on both my traditional and digital art. welp, once bitten, twice shy. (I think tumblr user darkgreyclouds does that too…I hope that this is not seen as copycat act? I don’t want to tag them or mention with an “@” in a post so I won’t bother them…I just hope it’s okay.)

Hi I love this blog! I was wondering if there were any pen and paper drawn or non-romantic lgbt comics you would recommend? Both have been hard to find for me. >. <

I’m not sure if you mean literal pen and paper, or just traditional art rather than digital. Let’s see what I can do…

Ignition Zero is an incredibly beautiful comic with watercolour art. There is some romance, but it definitely takes a back seat to all the exciting fantasy adventures going on.

Bad Bad Things is all digital art, but it has a full lgbt main cast without any romance so far. It is “a dystopian horror coming of age story about magic, friendship, adventure and shitty teenagers doing the best they can.”

Those Spaces Between is a collection of three short comics about gender. I believe they were drawn with coloured markers.

Society of Vice is another watercolour comic! It’s about the members of a therapy group, some of who are lgbt. There is definitely some romance in this one, though.

The Whys is done with coloured markers. There’s a bit of romance, but mostly it’s about teenagers with superpowers.

Anyone have any more suggestions?
