OH OH OH PLEASE TELL US A BOARDING SCHOOL STORY PRETTY PLEASE
so my school had this thing called “senior skip day,” except that senior skip day didn’t exist and every year the administration sent out emails in the spring that were like DON’T FUCKIN SKIP CLASS OR YOU WILL RECEIVE RESTRICTION (restriction was like, my boarding school’s equivalent of detention where instead of staying after school you had to go to bed early and help stuff envelopes advertising the summer program until your hands were BLOODIED AND CRIPPLED BY CARPAL TUNNEL) and every year the seniors were like YOLO THEY CAN’T PUNISH ALL OF US!!!!!
spoiler alert: yes they can? THEY ALWAYS CAN.
200 years of american high school and teenagers still think that there is a cap limit on kids in detention and that you can leave after 15 minutes if the teacher doesn’t show up.
anyway, my senior year, we all got together and nattered at each other until some brave soldier (i feel like it was my friend paula but WHO KNOWS) was like “OK SENIOR SKIP DAY IS THIS THURSDAY!!!! NOBODY GO TO CLASS OR UR A SCAB.”
she didn’t say scab because she’s not from the 1920s and we aren’t newsies, though this story would be way more interesting if we were
what she said was “YOLO THEY CAN’T PUNISH ALL OF US!!!!!”
except not yolo because it was 2009 and drake hadn’t been invented yet except as a dear sweet boy in a wheelchair.
we also used this email system to communicate with one another that has very deeply informed the way i understand email and which probably makes it very frustrating to be my friend and receive emails that have subject lines like “URGENT” and then just 42 links to the same florida georgia line youtube video.
I’M NOT ASHAMED, but in that way where like i kind of AM ashamed so i’m really aggressively NOT ashamed?
so the day of reckoning rolls around and my alarm goes off at 8 (class started at 8:05 but i liked to PLAY WITH FIRE when it came to being late; my mom actually asked the school to stop emailing her when i was a sophomore because i was late so often that their rote “Mrs. Ofgeography we are emailing you to say—” was CLOGGING UP HER INBOX and she was like “i GET IT MY CHILD IS THE MOST BORING MISCREANT OF ALL TIME.”) and i looked at my roommate elle and she looked at me and went, “you going?”
“hell no,” i said. “YOLO. they can’t punish all of us.”
elle, who was far prettier and far cooler than i was with the notable exception of her obsession with tswift’s “love story” and her tendency to look at the endangered species list and cry sometimes during study hall, quickly bizounced across the street to this shopping center thing where all the cool kids smoked in secret where huge trucks dropped off clothes for the Dress Barn. i think there were also tennis courts nearby. more importantly there was this chinese food delivery place and a lil restaurant that made HELLA BAGELS.
WHAT KIND OF BAGELS?
off goes elle! meanwhile i’m like, “yessssss i’m gonna use senior skip day to watch 14 hours of tv shows and eat frozen peanut butter bars that i stole from the dining hall! I’M GONNA LIVE LIKE I’M 23 ALONE IN CHICAGO ON A WEEKEND WHEN MY ONLY PLAN IS TAKEOUT AND CUDDLING WITH THE FAUX-SNOW-LEOPARD BLANKET I WILL ONE DAY SURELY OWN.”
of course, during this time the administration was continuing to send out emails that reminded us with increasing urgency that senior skip day was NOT A THING and that we were ALL GETTING RESTRICTION if we didn’t get our STUPID ASSES TO CLASS, GODDAMNIT, WE ARE NOT RUNNING A CIRCUS HERE.
but i was like! yolo, motherfuckers!!! i already got into college, YOU CAN’T TOUCH ME.
at some point during the day elle and our friend ginna came back to the room with takeout from the chinese delivery place and we sat on our floor eating it and probably watching veronica mars or looking at the endangered species list and crying.
all of a sudden, elle said, “guys shut up, guys shut up, GUYS SHUT UP,” and ginna and i were like, “WHAT we have a LOT to SAY about FRIED FUCKING DUMPLINGS, ELLE,“ and elle said, "did you hear that?”
‘that’ was the sound of one of our dorm moms, mrs. f, knocking on doors and saying things like, “IF YOU DON’T GET YOUR BUTTS TO CLASS IN 5 MINUTES YOU’RE ON CATEGORY 4 RESTRICTION FOREVER.” elle quickly scampered up our raised beds to hide in the corner, where a tiny human like elle could actually hide from view; i leapt immediately into what we called a closet but was basically a cubby with a flap that was DEFINITELY not meant for a 5'8” individual with knobby as hell knees.
our door, which was never locked because we both hated the effort of typing in the lock code, opened. mrs. f said, “mollyhall?”
i held my breath.
i should add here that i seemed to be operating on like a scooby-doo level of logic where basically i thought that she was somehow NOT ALLOWED to investigate?
like, if she can’t see me, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY that she could prove i’m in here, right?
she’ll just poke her head in and be like oH GOSH NO KIDS HERE and leave!!
you can see the flaw in my logic.
mrs. f sighed. “mollyhall, i know you’re in here, i literally heard your voice ten seconds ago.”
there’s no WAY she guesses i’m in the closet!!!
“mollyhall, i know you’re in the closet.”
NO YOU DON’T
I AM SCHRÖDINGER’S SENIOR
there was a creak. mrs. f stopped. it wasn’t actually a “creak,” so much as this like, prolonged groan? like it’s the sound an elephant would make if it sat on a really large accordion.
i poked my head out of the closet. mrs. f looked at me. elle sat up.
i said, “where’s ginna?”
YOU KNOW WHERE GINNA WAS.
“um,” said elle, “she’s in the—”
i really wish i could describe the sound the ceiling made when it collapsed. it sounded a lot like the way losing your breath feels. i sort of remember ginna falling in like, really slow motion, like i could see the expression on her face. i didn’t really think about how i would describe this in words. ginna’s face said:
what have i done?
this was a mistake.
i regret a series of decisions that i have made.
is there a way out of this?
are those oreos under mollyhall’s pillow?
why are there oreos under mollyhall’s pillow?
mollyhall, you HAVE a food cupboard, what good is a food cupboard if you don’t—
she belly flopped onto the floor. i mean, the girl bounced. and then she just laid there. mrs. f looked at her. elle looked at her. i looked at her, still mostly in the closet. we were all going to get category 4 restriction forever.
ginna said, “hi, mrs. f. i feel like i should explain.”

Y/N sat on one of the tables at the Grill waiting for her order, looking around. Mystic Falls , the 21st century verison of it , looked like a nice place to live. Her hand reached in her jacket pocket , pulling out her phone when suddenly someone sat opposite her.
“Who are you?” wondered Y/N as a young woman with short dark brown hair , green eyes and olive skin sat opposite her at her table.
“Town witch.” replied the stranger. “I am here to deliver a message.”
“Doesn’t matter really.” she smiled. “The Armoury keeps very detailed files on hybrids like you. We know about what you did in Georgia … and Dallas.”
Y/N shifted on her seat trying to figure out where the conversation was going. She knew about the Armoury and what they had done to Mary Louise and Nora. Last thing Y/N wanted was to end up in one of their cells. Specially after finally getting her freedom. Spending over 100 years in the 1903 Prison World had been enough of a torture for her to last her a millenia.
“Everywhere you go , death follows.” replied the girl.” You should’ve stayed away. Why did you even come back here ? Your family is gone.“
Y/N clenched her jaw trying hard not to think about the fact the people she had known for decades were all gone now. “Mystic Falls has been my home for over a century. Granted it was a snapshot of a snowy day , but…”
“We cant allow you to stay in Mystic Falls.”
“Who ? You and the mysterious Armoury ?” wondered Y/N , waving her hands in the air in pretend fear before starting to laugh. “What are you going to do ? Glare me to death ? There are no more Prison Worlds and as far as I understand the entire Gemini coven is gone.”
The girl rested her back on the chair , folding her hands on her chest with a small smile on her face. Sometimes Y/N wondered what would’ve been like to stay in Mystic Falls with her family , but going away when Oscar had , had been the better option. Why stay in the same place when there is a world to explore and … people to eat , unlike in the Prison World where she had had to live on a few drops of blood every day , just to stay awake in an agonising pain ? No. Y/N had chosen to see the world , not realising there wouldn’t a be home for her to come back to later.
“I’ll ask you to leave. Once.” said the girl. “You get up and leave now - you get to live your life.”
“And if I chose to stay?”
“There is a Prison World , waiting for you.” replied the girl leaning in on the table. Y/N stared at her. There were no more Prison Worlds. The girl was obviously bluffing and Y/N didn’t plan on falling for it.
“Witches … always so brave. Ready to protect everyone but themselves.” replied Y/N , purple black veins showing under her eyes as her fingers wrapped around the knife on the table and jamming it in the girl’s hand , pinning it to the table before grabbing the girls hand and siphoning her magic. “Thing is - you are not a match for me. And to think this could’ve gone in a completely different direction.”
“You are not … the … first heretic I’ve had to … deal with.” said the girl through gritted teeth , flicking her wrist magically snapping Y/N’s neck.
* * *
Y/N opened her eyes , her cheek and shoulder resting against the cold floor. Her neck hurt and she rubbed it for a moment before running her fingers through her hair. Slowly the girl got up , cracking her neck for a moment. Loud music was blasting from speakers nearby , so loud the glasses on the bar were lightly moving across the surface.
“UGH , that song is awful.” she muttered , turning off the music with a flick of her wrist.
The place was empty , absolutely empty or at least thats what she thought until someone groaned behind her. No wonder she hadn’t noticed that with the Spin Doctors playing. Y/N got up looking around. She was no longer at the Grill but in what appeared to be a karaoke bar. On the stage there was young man chained to a chair, his skin was gray with every single vein in his body visible. Y/N tilted her her in confusion , studying the guy’s face. He seemed very familiar to her , though it was hard to say considering he was not quite himself. In a few short steps she got on the stage , leaning in towards him , waving his hand in front of his face.
“Hello?” she asked. “Are you awake ?”
Another groan. Y/N smiled to herself.
“I’m going to take that as a ‘yes’.” she said. “Look , I’ll get those chains off you and we are going to find something to eat for you. If there is even someone to eat in this place. It’s so beyond quiet..”
A sigh left her lips , starting to realise the girl’s words had been true. A few seconds later the chains dropped on the ground. The young man’s head dropped and Y/N had to help him up. Except when she did , the guy grabbed her hand and sank his teeth in her wrist.
“Oh-kay.” she muttered flinching in pain a little. “That works too.”
He kept feeding , drainng an artery or two before letting go. Her head had started to feel a little dizzy but she was still stronger than him.
“God , you taste delicious.” said the young man , dropping her wrist. He looked at her with curiousity - purple / black veins still flashing under his eyes, a smirk showing on his face. Next moment her neck got snapped , again.
Kai kept feeding , draining every ounce of Y/N’s blood from her body trying to figure out why the girl’s blood tasted different than human blood then he figured it out and a smile spread across his face recognising her. He let the girl ‘sleep’ on the floor after feeding on her and waited for her to wake up.
About two hours later Y/N woke up , opening her eyes and jumping up fast and away from the guy.
“You could’ve said ‘please’.” she said. “Or at least ‘sorry’.”
“Whoops.” said the guy amused. He was sitting on one of chairs , his feet crossed on the table and his hands behind his head. There was a smile on his face. “Where is the fun in that ?”
Y/N laughed , reaching behind the bar.
“Funny.” she said. “I’m curious to find out where we are because there is no way that’s a Prison World. Those do not exist anymore. How I got here and most importantly how do we get out… I don’t plan on spending my life in a magical prison.”
“Good. Then we are on the same page.” said the guy , getting up and walking towards her. “Specially on the 'get out’ part. I’ve been in a Prison World before and I’m not looking forward to spending another 20 years stuck in one.”
Up close , now that he had fed , Y/N recognised him instantly. His blue eyes , that smirk and his voice. There was no way for her to forget that voice.
“Wait.” she said. “Kai ?”
“I wondered if you’d recognise me. ” he said smiling , putting his hands in his pockets. “Its been like what ? Four years , maybe five ? I lost track of time being chained in that chair in excrutiating pain. Now I understand why first chance you got back in 1903 , you grabbed me and sank your teeth into my neck. Sorry for feeding on you and snapping your neck. I was … a little delirious.”
“Well , now we are even.” she smiled , wondering what would happen if her arms wrapped around him. There weren’t many familiar faces in the world left for her. Back in 1903 she and Kai had become friends. Y/N had asked him questions about what the world is like and he had been more than happy to tell her everything. “It’s nice to see you again. Maybe this time I can repay the favour and help you get out of this place.”
Y/N opened the bottle , grabbing two glasses and poured a drink for her and Kai. Her eyes studying him the entire time. He was supposed to be dead. Then again so was she , technically. Kai moved a step towards her and wrapped his arms around her without any warning.
“Oh hugging.” she said smiling , wrapping her arms around him. “That’s definitely new. What happened to you ? Don’t tell me you have gone soft?” she teased.
Kai laughed , pushing her away.
“Sorry. It’s been … a long time since I’ve seen someone who doesn’t have the intentions of beheading me or trapping me somewhere or sending me back to Hell.” he said smiling nervously. “I’m not going soft. Not a chance.”
“Good.” she said , handing him one of the glasses. “I like you better this way. It’s going to be so much fun getting revenge after we get out.”
Kai took a sip and left the glass on the bar.
“Yeah… about that.” he said. “There is no way out this time.”
“What ?” she nearly choked.
“I’m guessing Bonnie sent you here.” he said sitting on one of the tables near by. Y/N looked at him with puzzled expression. “Green eyes, dark brown hair , oilve skin ?”
“Ah.. yeah , must’ve been her.”
“Anyways , when she ditched me here there was one thing she made very specific. No eclipses to bail my ass out of here.” he said with a note of anger and hurt in his voice. Y/N understood where he was coming from. Like her he had spent years in a Prison World. “Though something’s been bothering me ever since I got here. Because as you know I am the leader of the Gemini coven and as one , I should be able to get out without one but -”
“You are not sure if that still applies now that you are a heretic.” she sighed , gulping her glass at once. “Well , we still need the Ascendant. If we find this , we can figure out our way out. There are two of us now.”
“We’ll also need a celestial event and Bennett blood.” he added. “I don’t suppose you tried to bite her head off and maybe got some of her blood on your clothes ?”
Y/N took a step towards him with a small smile on her face.
“No… I didn’t bite her.” she trailed off, glancing at a blood stain on her jacket. “I stabbed her.”
Kai’s eyes widened and he looked at the semi dried blood on Y/N’s jacket sleeve. Then he looked up at her.
“I could kiss you right now.” he said smiling widely. Y/N smiled back at him , feeling a warm fuzzy feeling spread through her body at his words. “We can get out ! Take your jacket off.”
He ran to the bar , grabbing one of the small bottles , emptying it and used a spell to transfer turn back the blood to liquid and transfer it into the small bottle. Kai’s fingers wrapped around it looking at the blood with a devilish spark in his eyes , then looked at Y/N.
“Admit it.” she said smiling. “I am your favourite girl on the planet. Well , I am the only girl in the planet but still.”
“Fine.” he said laughing for a second , leaving the bottle back on the table , taking a step towards her. “You are my most favourite girl on the planet. So , do you happen to have the Ascendant in your pocket too ? Or am I being too optimistic?”
Y/N laughed under her breath.
“No , that I don’t have … yet.”
Kai looked at her curious , taking another step towards her until they were standing barely a metre away. Y/N was full of surprises. Out of all the heretics back in 1903 he liked spending time with her. They were roughly the same age and were alike in many ways. Not only because both of them had been cast out of their coven. Y/N was nice to him , not like the others who just wanted to use him as a blood bag. She treated him as a person , as someone who is worthy of having friends and family. Unlike everyone else he had known.
“Yet?” he asked gazing into her eyes.
“How much do you know about the Armoury ?” she asked with a playful smile.
“I know their cells don’t have the proper security to hold a vampire / witch heretic.” he said taking a step towards her. “And that there is a tunnel that leads from Mystic Falls directly into the voult of the building barely 7 miles away from here as the crow flies.”
Y/N took a step towards him until they were barely inches from each other.
“Where do you think the Ascendant came from ?” she asked raising her brows , turning around towards the exit leaving Kai completely breathless. “Are you coming or what ?”
Kai blinked a few times and grabbed the small bottle in his hands , placing it in his pocket before chasing after her. Not only he wasn’t alone anymore , but Y/N had quite literally brought him the key to getting out of that place. Going after the twins had gotten him into that mess , now weirdly he was glad about it other ways he probably never would’ve seen her again. There was another thing on his mind other than revenge in that moment. Even if their plan failed and they got stuck there , at least he wouldn’t be alone for all eternity. A smile spread across his face at the thought.
“Never thought I’d say this … but thank you Bonnie.” he whispered , catching up with Y/N in a split second.
* * *
Y/N and Kai had spent the following days going through the archives at the Armoury searching for an entry describing the Ascendant he had seen. It had taken them a while but finally they had gotten their hands on the mystical relic.
“We still need a celestial event. Although …” he trailed off , twisting the Ascendant in his hands looking up at her. Y/N crossed her hands and took a step towards him , resting her hip on the edge of the table standing barely half a metre from Kai. He turned towards her. “.. we might not need one. The Armoury is the hot bed of supernatural energy. If we can siphon enough magic , we might not need one.”
“Lets go then.” she said starting to walk away.
“You seem awfuly eager to get away from me.” said Kai grabbing her wrist. “Why ?”
“I’m not eager to get away from you.” she said smiling. “In fact I actually kind of like you. Thing is … I’ve spent nearly 120 years in a place like this. I feel a little … claustrophobic ? No , thats not the word. Caged ?”
“What do you mean you 'kind of like me’ ?” he wondered not letting go of her wrist. “Whats with the 'kind of’ bit ? Am I not charming and funny enough ?”
Y/N laughed placing her hand on his chest. “You are beyond charming Kai…and quite funny. Lets go. The sooner we get out of this place , the sooner I can rip that witch’s head off. Although … weirdly , I don’t mind much she sent me here.”
Kai let go off her wrist and went after her. He knew the feeling Y/N was describing. Being in a Prison World is worse than being trapped. You can still be outside in the park or somewhere on the street and feel like you are stuck between four walls with no way out. It can drive a person mad , specially knowing there is no way to actually die. All he had done in 1994 had been try to kill himself , only taking a short breaks from existing without truly living. It had messed with his head. He tried imagining that times five , being a dessicating vampire living only on a few drops of blood. The thought of it created a lump in his throat. If it hadn’t been for her , he’d still be chained in that chair , listening to that awful song. Kai caught up with her , taking her hand in his. Y/N seemed surprised but didn’t push it away.
“You know , I like you much better in those clothes.” said Kai as they headed through the voult back to Mystic Falls. He looked at her from head to toe - jeans , a white top and moderately high high heels. “That dress you had on back in 1903 - it was cool and probably was all the rage a hundred a fourteen years ago , but…this century suits you.”
“Thanks.” she smiled at the ground. “I like it better too. Definitely do not miss corsets.”
They walked in silence for a few minutes , taking a turn or two along the way. It wasn’t very dark , specially not with their cell phone’s flash lights. That had been a nice change from the early 20th century. If they had had to carry a torch around they probably would’ve ran out of oxygen in that tunel.
“What happens when we get out ?” wondered Kai.
“We go to see the world.” she smiled at him. “Together , the two of us.”
“There is an us ?” he asked smiling.
“Well , we are the only two heretics , unless we count Valerie.” replied Y/N. “Before , you know in 1903 , you said you didn’t get to live before they sent you away. I will make sure you the chance to live now. Keep you out of trouble .. or start trouble with you.” she winked at him.
“I’d like that very much. Being alone … is not as fun as people think.”
* * *
THE NEXT DAY
“Hurry up.” said Kai , pulling Y/N behind him.
“Sorry , I can’t run in high heels in the woods.” she said trying not to laugh. “Do you have any idea what its like to run in heels?”
“Um , no. I don’t.” said Kai trying to suppress a laugh. “And I have no intentions of finding out. Here , I’ll carry you if you want.”
“Maybe some other time.” she smiled. “Are we there yet?”
After figuring out the right spot to do the spell and siphoning pretty much all the magic at the Armoury it was time for them to try and get out. Kai felt more eager to get out than ever. Y/N had promised not to leave his side and to show him and teach him how to feed so he doesn’t kill anyone and they can go undetected. He had been worried that after getting out , he’ll be stuck all alone again but she had assured him that’s not going to happen. Almost at the old remains of Fells church , they stopped and Kai turned towards her , not letting go of her hand for an instant. He didn’t want to risk leaving her behind. Not after everything she had done for him.
“Hold my hands.” he demanded and Y/N held onto him , glancing between the Ascendant and the tiny bottle with Bennett blood he had just poured on the device. “If this doesn’t work out - ” he started.
“It will.” she smiled at him. “Be more optimistic.”
“You be optimistic.”
“Fine.” she laughed and Kai started laughing with her.
“You remember the spell right ?”
Y/N nodded. Kai had spent the entire night repeating it out loud over and over again , it had started driving her crazy around 3AM. At some point she wondered if somehow he’d teleport himself out of this place alone but he had spent the entire time repeating the spell , holding onto her hand.
“Good.” he smiled , seeming to relax a bit. “Ready ?”
Kai took a deep breath and both he and Y/N closed their eyes and started chanting the spell over and over again. At first nothing happened , but neither of them was willing to give up. There was no celestial event for them to channel , that had become clear to them. It all depended on the magic they had siphoned at the Armoury. Either they’d get out or they’ll spend eternity together.
All of the sudden there was a little gust of wind blowing out of nowhere and when Y/N opened her eyes , they were standing on one of the streets like two blocks away from the Mystic Grill. Kai looked around smiling widely , wrapping his hands around Y/N quickly , muttering Invisique.
“Sshhh…” he said , placing his hand on her mouth. Y/N stared at him with puzzled expression trying to figure out what was up and then she heard a familiar voice. Two familiar voices actually. A moment later Damon and Bonnie turned around the corner and walked right past them. Y/N’s eyes went wide.
“I bet Kai is happy now that he has company.” said Damon. “Wouldn’t it have been wiser to put her in another Prison World ?”
“Why ?” asked Bonnie. “Its not like they can go anywhere.”
Damon smirked at her just as they walked past Y/N and Kai.
Kai waited a few minutes until they were gone before letting go off Y/N.
“Well … those two are up for a giant surprise if ever they decide to pay us a visit in the Prison World.” laughed Kai.
Y/N laughed with him , taking his hand. All of the sudden her revenge fantasy didn’t matter. It took her a moment that it had been a few days since she had let go of that idea without even realising it.
“Come on. It’s time for you to live your life to the fullest.”
“One thing though …” trailed off Kai , pulling her back in vampire speed. He backed Y/N against one of the cars near by and smashed his lips on hers taking her breath away. “I should’ve done that in 1903.” he whispered smiling.
Y/N bliked fast a couple of times, her eyes darting between his eyes and his smile.
“Well , about time.” she smiled at him , pulling him in for another kiss.

Summary: What if… two words people often think of when they know… their alternate decisions could affect the outcomes of certain situations… Alas, The Butterfly Effect is unstoppable just like time itself. We can only learn to cope and move on.
A/N: WOW. we have been doing this without fail for 21 weeks, I couldn’t be more impressed @hollyashton , this week’s host is @catsrtheboss !! If anyone noticed this title is a line from Until Dawn… don’t tell Sony I don’t want to be sued… anyway this fic is heavy stuff, very angsty, actually, nothing but angst and sadness but enjoy nonetheless haha. Also since ES is in itself incomplete some scenarios were made up by me, some idols prophecy happened, some didn’t , just a head up!
It’s been 2 months since they were rescued from La Huerta… not all of them survived and not all the bodies were recovered…
Grace’s mom was desperate to get her usually cheery and curious daughter back…
“Grace Tamara Hall…” the middle aged woman read off of her patient’s medical report. Her thick glasses positioned comfortably on her nose.
“Not gonna lie, I was honored when Blaire Hall chose me to be your psychiatrist, she cares about your well being a lot, sweetie”
Grace snorted knowingly, never meeting the doctor’s eyes. The doctor sighed flipping through the pages of her patient’s report.
“Look… whether you want to face it or not, and I am assuming it’s the latter, you have PTSD, my dear. Post Tr–”
“Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I am not stupid and I am fully aware of my condition” Grace mumbled while rubbing her temples
“Oh… well… What if we try–”
“What if… I think about these two words often.” Tears welled up in her eyes as her bottom lip started trembling.
“I was… suggesting… maybe you could tell me the source of your regret and I will help you… I promise, Ms. Hall…” The doctor said, her voice sounding more sincere than before
Once again, Grace was in the lab located inside mount Atropo. She was on the ground , her entire frame shaking after seeing three of her friends being hailed by bullets… She and her friends failed to input the right password which would deactivate the protection protocols.
She couldn’t believe it he was… no more… Their feelings… Their spark… it never had a chance to become a fire. She wanted to be with him, she wanted to hug him… to run her hands through his platinum hair… To gaze into his deep, thoughtful baby blues… instead she was staring into his lifeless eyes, and watched as the color drained from his already pale skin.
Grace was paralyzed with fear, anger and despair, IRIS’s cold, heartless, mechanical voice rang in the room , breaking her panic attack.
“Directive 1908… Revival procedure available…”
These words gave a her a glimpse of hope… before…
“Password input required.”
“No…” Taylor mumbled “We can’t risk this input bullshit anymore! Look what happened to our friends!”
“Taylor… what if we can save them… save him!” Grace’s voice was cracking. She sounded miserable and… slightly selfish… and she knew it.
“Grace, it’s too risky!” Michelle shouted.
“We can’t just do nothing!”
Grace ran to the computer. She thought of all the things the password could be. Her first two attempts were failures, now was her last chance… she entered her last guess …
IRIS clicked for a second “…Input Invalid”
She felt dizzy… she failed … she failed her friends and she failed herself. She couldn’t hold back her tears.
IRIS’s cold expression softened and the robot looked at her direction.
“I am… so sorry… Grace…”
A spark of electricity glistened down the hologram’s cheek like a teardrop.
“Emergency s-self destruct initiated.”
Her orb started smoking as her image distorted, her face turning into a grimace of agony before disappearing, shutting down the lights in the room with her.
“And just like that… I lost four of my friends… in about ten minutes…”
“IRIS… it wasn’t her fault… she was our friend” tears were threatening to pour down her face once again.
She wiped her tears. “Dr. Williams I appreciate this… I do… I know my mom payed a lot for my appointments but I… I can’t do this…” she stood up from the comfortable cushion and headed for the door.
“Grace… after a traumatic experience… closure is essential… you can’t shut everyone off. It will worsen both your physical and mental…”
Grace didn’t buy any of it, she was determined to leave, she opened the door and threw a glance at Dr. Williams once again, her expression was calm and professional.
“Ms. Hall, the past… is beyond our control… you’ll have to accept it or you will never heal.”
After a moment of consideration… Grace was out the door.
It’s been two months since they were rescued. Two months since they left that… God forsaken island… it’s been one months, twenty seven days, 6 hours and 23 minutes since the last time she was outside.
She basically barricaded herself from the outside world, from her friends, from her family, from her guilt.
It’s been two months, fifteen days, seven hours, and forty three minutes since the last time she saw him…
at this point moving in a group was becoming dangerous, Sean, Jake, Yvonne and Craig were preparing themselves to explore this fucked up place even further. Turns out there’s not just a couple of mythical creatures in this place, maybe tens or even hundreds of different species. Exploring the fauna wasn’t their mission though.
“Do you guys have a deathwish?!” Michelle protested. “Whatever we do we should always do as a group. No splitting up have you learned NOTHING from 90s horror flicks?!”
Sean just stared at her , listening to her rant before wrapping one arm around her and pulling her into a hug.
“Please… be safe… I almost lost you here once already…” Michelle cried.
Zahra watched all that before moving her gaze towards Craig. His eyes were on her as well but noticing their eye contact he quickly looked away.
Everyone knew what they were attempting was dangerous and… probably pointless… whatever they were attempting, she didn’t quite catch.
Do something… Zahra thought to herself…
“Craig…” she approached him and caught his attention.
“Hey…” He said.
They stared longingly into each other’s eyes.
“Craig, I…” his hand brushed hers softly.
And… of all the things she could have thought of… their past good times… their past laughter… their past intimacy… she thought of how he abandoned her… like an old toy he didn’t need anymore when he found a better hobby.
She pulled her hand away from him
“Try not to fuck everything up, imbecile.” She left his side but kept throwing occasional glances before they left… he was gritting his teeth… was it anger ? was it regret? She would never find out.
She was sitting in the middle of her room. She moved all her furniture away one day and just preferred sitting on the ground from then on. The silence was deafening. Sometimes she swore she could hear her own blood flowing in her veins.
She kept staring at her phone screen. Specifically at a picture of her and Craig, after his first game in the football team, her hands were around his neck hugging him close and his hand was around her waist.
Zahra blocked her phone and stood up. She Kept circling around the room , thinking of what she’s done. She could have kissed him… she could have told him that she cared about him and wanted to be a part if his life again once they were safe. She could have said…
I love you.
But she didn’t. And the last thing she ever told him was an insult… one he … never deserved…
“Didn’t he now?” she whirled around. Staring back at her was her reflection in a mirror. But it wasn’t her it had a malicious face full of anger.
“Don’t you remember?!” The reflection shouted. “Did you forget how he forgot you. How he threw you away?!
Zahra turned her back to the mirror hoping the hallucination would stop
“He didn’t need you. I bet he made fun of you with his new friends. The pretty little cheerleaders. Honestly, even though I knew he had no taste, didn’t think he’d replace you with those Barbie dolls
“That’s not true… He didn’t –”
“Oh it is. He was a traitorous, irresponsible, idiot and deserved whatever he got. He was a waste of spa–”
“SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH" Zahra’s fist collided with the mirror shattering it in tens of pieces.
She was shaking and breathing heavily. She didn’t feel the pain kick in though, until she saw how blood flowed down her entire wrist, soaking her jacket with the warm liquid. Might have damaged a vein. She collapsed on the floor and reached for her phone.
She hasn’t called anyone in one month, fourteen days, six hours and nine minutes…
"911… help, please… I’m b-bleeding…”
He has left the football team. Although both his coach and the team were trying to change his time but he was determined… he wasn’t playing without his best friend.
Not like he would have anyone supporting his decision. He could contact the survivors but it wouldn’t be the same.
He couldn’t believe she committed suicide… she knew what she was doing, it was definitely suicide. He shouldn’t have blamed her for Craig’s death…
“Sean, quick! Michelle went outside!” Taylor alerted him. He rolled his eyes.
“Why should I care?”
“Wh-what are you talking about, she could get herself killed.”
“Why. should. I help. her. Did she do anything to help Craig? She could have helped him, he was crying out for her…. But she just stared and did nothing” Sean hissed in anger.
“Sean, that’s not fair, she was paralyzed with fear!”
“Oh yeah? maybe she’ll get paralyzed again outside and you’ll drag her back?!” He stormed off.
For the most part, he blamed himself for her
death. He didnt care enough. He never did. Maybe thats why their relationship
kept failing. But he did have strong feelings for her and kept trying
He didnt want to admit it but he had weak
rational thinking. He usually went with his gut or momentary emotions. He also
didnt want to admit but if it hasnt been for his idleness… and
inaction… his friends might have still been alive.
He’d rejoin the team. He loved football… he
would not develop more regrets… he’s had enough.

“Yes… I am…”
She wished she was stronger… She wished she could have saved them all… she was supposed to be a leader yet she failed the group.
Her choices led to disastrous results, she tried to contact the survivors but they kept saying they were… busy… yeah, sure…
She couldn’t help a little offended but she didn’t blame them, the experience scarred all if them deeply at this point she didn’t think surviving was worth it.
She missed her best friend, Diego.
They left him for six. Fucking. Months. And at the end still weren’t able to save him. She kept rewatching the stupid videos they would film out of boredom
He always seemed so positive… so careless. She knew it wasn’t true but he was always a great friend.
She felt like a monster sometimes because even after the whole thing she could still laugh sometimes and have nice dreams. Was something wrong with her? Was that just her own special little way of going… insane?.. What if she died too? And this was just a figment of her dying mind… what if every…thing died because of her?
Jeez, if Jake was here… he’d give her a nickname, something like Courage the Cowardly dog or some other paranoid character
God, she missed him. His one liners and snarky remarks. His little smirk that could make her either roll her eyes or feel butterflies having WWE fights in her stomach.
His last moments still go in a continuous loop in her mind.
“Princess… don’t freak out but… I think I am dying…” he was coughing out drops of blood.
Everything happened so damn fast she didn’t even realize what happened
“Jake please… no, don’t leave me I can’t do this without you” she cried against his jacket, cupping his face.
“Don’t say that– you’re– you’re so smart and incredible… you could pull this off all by yourself you– I am in so fucking in love with you, Taylor” he blurted out clutching his side.
Jake… no, please…”
She kissed him passionately, like it was the last time because… frankly it was. She felt the metallic taste of blood but it didn’t bother her at all. She knew that if she let go… he’d be gone…
He will never be gone, he’ll always be in her heart, in the back of her mind, grinning cockily, calling her princess for the first time. But she needed to let go. Outside of La Huerta… she had no power over time and she’d need to learn to let go and move on. Or she’ll always, subconsciously be… in one of those time loops… unable to get out.
An incoming call broke her from her gaze, it was Sean, she was ever so slightly euphoric to hear his voice.
“Sean! Hey!” She said in a maybe a little to excitedly.
“Hey, Taylor… it’s good to hear your voice.”
She smiled at those words
“Yours too, Sean…”
“I– I don’t know how this happened but Zahra’s in a hospital… Grace went to check in her to see the door smashed in by the emergency… her veins were cut… could be self harm”
She was silent. Now she felt even more like a monster, laughing and genuinely feeling great sometimes while her friend suffered from depression.
“Taylor..? You there..?”
“Yeah it’s just…”
“I am going to visit her, do you want me to pick you up?”
That’s it. That’s what they needed. Be there for each other. With each other. Together they’d heal much faster than by themselves.
“Great, see you Taylor” she could feel him smile through the phone.
She quickly grabbed her apartment keys and headed for the door, throwing a glance back at her room.
Next to her bed… folded neatly was a certain dark green jacket. She stared at it before grabbing and putting it on. Yeah… she’d move on… doesn’t mean she couldn’t cherish memories…
Hello beautiful ladies! I hope you have a nice and productive day. I wan wondering if I could have a drabble from May prompt with nr 13 and 67 and with Klaus Mikaelson? Loves and panda kisses
Klaus Mikaelson – The child that could not be
the knife you were using to cut the bread when you cut yourself, but you didn’t
do anything to cover the wound it had created. You had felt the cut, but you
didn’t feel the pain now. You didn’t feel anything. You only felt numb. You
should have been happy now, you should have made plans for the future, but all
you could think about was what should have been, but never would be.
“You’re bleeding all over my carpet,
love…” Klaus had come into the room without you noticing, and it was only after
the first few words that you raised your head and looked at him. It startled
him, that was clear to see in his eyes.
“Let’s cover up this wound…”, he said, hesitantly. It was bleeding, quite a lot
actually, but you didn’t move. He grabbed the table cloth, tore off a piece and
wrapped it around your hand. “Freya can have a look at it later… what is the
matter, sweetheart? I don’t know you like this…”
“I lost our baby…” It was as if those
four little words opened a dam of emotions. As if saying it out loud made it
real, as if until you had told Klaus, it was still something that could be
reversed. It couldn’t. It was real, far too real.
Klaus frowned, and after a few moments, he stroked his own hair with his hand,
clenching his lips. “Our child… gone?” His gaze trailed to your stomach that
was still flat, as flat as it had been a few days ago when there was still a
baby growing there.
“There’s no heartbeat anymore…” His voice had dropped to not much more than a

The love of my life.
My good luck charm.
I couldn’t save her, no medicine in the world or in Neverland…could save her. She knew this was going to happen, but went through with it anyways. How could she leave me? How could she leave after giving me this…thing. This beautiful creature that I want nothing to do with now.
We were supposed to raise her together.
We were supposed to be the best parents in all of Neverland, the King and Queen, with a princess by their side. But now? I despise what we’ve created, this monster that killed my beloved. She looks more like me than she does you, the older she gets. But, she does have your hair and eyes…your beautiful eyes that I’ve loved for so long, now cold and lifeless…
Y/n was gonna be just like me, I knew she was, and she is. Growing stronger and more unstable everyday. When I sensed the evil spirit within her before she was born, I knew I should have done something about it. But, being the fool that I am, I said nothing. Did nothing. And now I pay the price for it. Seeing her, reminds of the day that I lost you…four years ago it feels like, but you know how time can be here. And the more I look at her, the hatred among me wants to end her life, wants to rip her heart out and place it back into yours.
But…I can’t do that. No matter how many times I bring myself to the thought I..I just can’t. It’ll be like loosing you all over again, taking away the only thing I have linked to you. I miss you.
“Daddy?” The voice was heard from behind me, making me whole body cringe in agony and hate. “Daddy okay?”
Breathing heavily, the tears that rolled down my cheeks burned away, replaced with a scowl that could chill any warmhearted creature in sight. How does she always find me? Can’t the bloody thing take a hint that I want to be alone? Can I not grieve at her mother’s grave in peace?!
“Get lost,” I rasped, gritting my teeth to keep from raising my voice. I heard her feet crunching the leaves from beneath her, coming closer and closer, only making my blood boil.
“Why daddy sad?” She was now a few inches away from me, her tiny hands holding onto my arm. “Daddy crying…” Y/n reached up to touch my face, but I was quick to grab her tiny hand in my large on, squeezing harshly. She yelped in shock and in pain, her eyes filling with tears instantly.
“What part of ‘Get lost’ don’t you understand?” I growled at her, my eyes turning a more sinister color. Tears streamed down her face as I pushed her away, making her fall onto her back. She got up quickly, running back towards the camp, her squeals and cries following behind her.
Standing up from my crouching position, I watched as she continued to run. A sudden guilty feeling started to consume me, the frightened cries that flowed out of her mouth surrounded the forest, making my chest hurt. Groaning, I ran towards her, the guilt growing more and more. How can I be so heartless to make my own blood afraid of me.
Once I was close enough to see that she made it to camp, I saw her run into Felix’s legs, hugging them tightly as she cried. His face flashed multiple emotions at once, from confusion, to shock, to concern. He quickly picked her up, holding her closely, trying to calm her down. Felix finally made eye contact with my bloodshot ones, his face showing a face I’ve seen too much around here. Disappointment. No matter how many of my lost boys I punish to make the look go away, it always comes back.
Slowly walking over to them, I heard her cries become harsher. She knows I’m close…and she’s afraid. My own daughter…
“Felix..can I…?” I held my hands up toward her, feeling ashamed to even ask. He looked at me for a moment, unsure of my gesture. “Please?” I begged, something I never thought would happen before I die. He gently pulled her away from his body, handing her over to me. And she was not having it.
She kicked and screamed, reaching toward Felix, calling out his name, and everything. Y/n didn’t want anything to do with me, and I don’t blame her. By now the lost boys around the camp have stopped to see what was going on. Why their leader was practically in tears, holding his petrified daughter and carrying her to his tent. I wouldn’t be able to answer them. I’m broken. And in need to be fixed, and the only beings capable of doing so…one is gone, while the other doesn’t want to be near me.
I reached my tent, closing it off so that we would not be interrupted. I set her down finally, only for her to run to the far side of the space, away from me, curling into a tight ball, whimpering to herself.
Sighing, I crouched down to her level, slowly making my way closer to her, trying not to frighten her more. “Y/n…sweetheart?” I called out softly, her little frame shaking at the sound of my voice. I was close enough to touch her, my hand softly stroking her hair, only for her head to bury deeper into her knees, a shout of terror escaping her mouth, making me flinch. “Please speak to me love…please?”
“D-Daddy n-no…love me…” She cried, still refusing not to look at me.
“No that’s not true..daddy loves you very, he does.” The words I spoke felt unfamiliar coming from my mouth. “Daddy’s just…he’s just very upset, that’s all. He didn’t mean to hurt you, baby.” I reached toward her again, this time she didn’t cower away. “Daddy…daddy misses mommy. A lot. A-And daddy he’s just a little…lost.”
“L-Like…lost boys?” She turned her head slightly toward me, sniffling while a few more tears slid down her cheeks. I smiled softly at her, happy to see her e/c eyes again.
“Yes, sweetheart. Like the lost boys. After you were born, mommy went away. I blamed you for it, which was wrong, and unfair.”
“I kill mommy?” She innocently asked, more tears cascaded down her face.
“No! No of course not…it was a stupid thing to believe. She died…to give you a life, here, with me. And I’ve wasted four years…being selfish and cold to you. But that’s all I’ve ever been, except with mommy. And without her here to help me love you…I turned heartless. But, after seeing me hurt you, the first contact we’ve had in a long time, I…I can’t live this way no longer. You are a piece of your mother, the only physical piece I have left of her, and I refuse to push you away anymore. I love you, Y/n. You are my princess and queen, my one priority from now on, my one love. No one, no thing shall harm you, not even me.”
By now, she was now fully turned in my direction, giving me her full attention. But she was still hiding herself in the corner, still unsure about the whole situation. Coming up with an idea, I smile warmly at her, reaching my hand out slowly, so not to scare her. “Can I give you something?”
She looked at my hand longingly, still a little bit skeptical. Crawling out from her spot in the corner, she placed her tiny and now bruised hand into my large one. The pang of guilt had returned my chest, as I stared down at the damage I’ve caused her. Placing a light kiss to her hand, the bruises slowly started to heal up, making her large e/c eyes stare up at me in awe. Smiling at her again, I pick her up and rest her on my hip, walking over towards the side of the room where Y/m/n used to sleep.
I came to the little treasure chest I gave her for her birthday one day. Reaching inside my shirt, I pulled out a key, unlocking the treasure chest; inside it was this beautiful green charm that came with the box, that had a little pan flute as the charm shape. Pulling it out, I held it toward Y/n, seeing her big eyes light up at the necklace.
“See this? This was mommy’s favorite trinket, that daddy gave her. I gave it to her on her birthday, you should have seen the look on her face. I’ve never see someone smile so big as she did, her cheeks looked like they were gonna pop!” I slightly bounced her at the exaggeration, making her giggle. The sound alone made my heart flutter. Was this..love am I feeling? “Now…I’m trusting you in wearing it and..keeping it safe, for mommy and daddy. Okay?”
She looked up at me, nodding her head rapidly, making me smile yet again. “Can you dry those tears for me?” She quickly wiped her eyes with the backs of her hands, sniffling for final effect. I sat her on top of the dresser, placing the charm necklace around her little neck. It barely fits her, but she’ll grow into it. Taking a good look at her…she looked just like her mommy.
“Thank you, daddy,” She smiled up at me, a warm feeling traveled up my spine. I shrugged slightly in response, grinning down at her.
“Anything for daddy’s princess. From here and forever, you shall be treated like one. I love you, Y/n, my new good luck charm.”
She reached up for me to hold her, which I gladly did. Her little body fit perfectly in my own, as she snuggled deeper into my embrace. The feeling of this hug felt all to familiar. I opened my eyes, and nearly choked at what I saw in the mirror.
I am back to rereading The Goose Girl and, heavens, if Conrad isn’t exactly my troublesome co-worker: self-assured, yet self-pitying and long-suffering, arrogant in an irritatingly quiet way, immediately angry as soon as anyone else does his job as well or better than him, still somehow trying to make friends.
oh my god that meme is beautiful anyway 11 + Soukoku!
“I almost lost you” (Sorry this is like four years late!!! Warnings for gore associated with Corruption.)
Corruption lasted four minutes and fifty-one seconds, which was two minutes and thirty seconds longer than Dazai anticipated. This because Chuuya had activated Corruption farther away from Dazai than planned. Because Chuuya had wanted it to be active for longer.
Dazai knew that Chuuya hated Corruption. Chuuya hated not being able to control himself, and he hated relying on someone else. He hated having that power and not being able to use it in situations where it would have resulted in less deaths.
That didn’t mean he had to be an idiot about it.
Dazai knew they were more likely to get rid of the enemy entirely if Chuuya could stay in his corrupted state for longer. He knew that, but it also brought Chuuya a bit too close to death.
Dazai was just a bit too selfish to let Chuuya die first.
By the time Dazai reached Chuuya, Corruption had done enough damage that Chuuya’s body was literally falling apart. His skin had split open, long gashes wearing down to near the bone leaking blood. His hands had turned completely black. Blood bubbled at Chuuya’s lips with each ragged breath he took. His laughter had long died away.
Dazai grabbed Chuuya’s wrist, and then wrapped his arms around Chuuya’s waist because he knew Chuuya wouldn’t be able to stand. Chuuya practically folded in half, retching. Blood and bile splattered on the ground. Too much, Dazai thought. Chuuya wasn’t just vomiting blood–he was drowning in it.
Yosano would be here soon. Dazai lowered them both to the ground, holding Chuuya upright against him so that Chuuya wouldn’t choke to death. He doubted Chuuya could hear Dazai or even register his presence in his struggle to breathe, but somehow he was still conscious.
Dazai pressed his forehead against the back of Chuuya’s head and closed his eyes. “I almost lost you,” he muttered. “I’m supposed to die first.”
Chuuya didn’t react. Dazai didn’t expect him too. He hoped Chuuya hadn’t heard or, if he somehow did, that he wouldn’t remember. If Dazai were a better man, he’d let Chuuya know how he felt. But he wasn’t, and he was too practical to imagine that their feelings would be anything but a liability.
Luffy’s whining is loud enough to draw the attention of onlookers and Zoro’s shushing does nothing, though he’d hardly expected it to. “What now!?”
“I should be saying that! You’ve gotten lost like four thousand times today!!” Luffy is near-tears, sniffling a little over-dramatically. “Do you know how much meat I could’ve eaten if I didn’t have to search for you??”
“So sorry you had to come find me,” Zoro snaps. “I didn’t ask you to.”
Luffy stops at that– just full on stops right in the middle of the fucking street, and Zoro nearly keeps walking and leaves him behind. He does notice, though, and he stops and looks back with a scowl that’s bordering on being a full-on glare. It’s not his fault the damn shopping district has forty seven wrong turns! And if Luffy would rather be eating meat, then–
“But why wouldn’t I?”
The Captain has his head tilted to the side in confusion, brow furrowed. “You’re more important than meat.”
There’s a lengthy pause, the sound of a bustling market in the background as Zoro has no idea what to say to that. Okay, so it’s a ridiculous sentence overall, because meat shouldn’t be that important but this is Luffy and it is but he just said it’s not as important as him and obviously Zoro knows that, knows Luffy would die for his crew (and nearly has) and it’s probably more of a joke than anything, but.
But it’s kind of nice being told you’re important, anyway, in such blunt honest words, and he doesn’t know what to say.
“Ah! But if I can have Zoro and meat, that’s even better!” Luffy grins, like he’s solved all the problems he’s ever had and Zoro does know how to respond to that, dragging a hand over his face in exasperation to hide his smile.
“Right, of course.”
“So let’s go get some!!!” Luffy shouts, darting ahead again. And it wouldn’t be surprising, except he grabs Zoro’s hand as he runs past and holds it tight, just knowing Zoro will follow and he does, he keeps the pace even if he can’t quite process why his Captain is holding his hand all the sudden, or how he should even ask, or–
“It’s so you don’t get lost!”
That blinding grin is directed back at him and he has to tug Luffy out of the way before he runs them both into the cart in the middle of the street. “I’m not gonna get lost again, so watch where you’re going.”
“Really?” Luffy laughs, carefree and light and maybe he doesn’t believe Zoro, but it’s really hard to tell, sometimes. He turns his gaze back forward but he squeezes Zoro’s hand and it’s warm, it’s really warm, so much hotter than the shining sun above him. “That’s good! Because I don’t ever want to lose you.”
And so, Zoro does the only thing he can think to do. “Agh! What am I supposed to say to that, idiot!? Don’t say dumb shit!”
