Madame Semele’s eyes opened wide with fright, and she stared over the flames of the fire at her guest. “Who are you?” she said.
“When you knew me last,” said the woman in the scarlet kirtle, “I ruled with my sisters in Carnadine, before it was lost.”
“You? But you are dead, long dead.”
“They have said that the Lilim were dead before now, but they have always lied,” said the witch queen. “The squirrel has not yet found the acorn that will grow into the oak that will be cut to form the cradle of the babe who will grow to slay me.”
so he’s gone and you’re trying to let this go with him but it just won’t leave and you just can’t forget. this is an ache like lazarus; it is alive when it shouldn’t be, it is back and bigger than ever. it hurts that the memories are so soft and at the same time so goddamn wrecking ball. he was never as gentle as you remember. this was never as perfect as your naive high school eyes saw it. it’s hard to let go when the hurt is a leech and you are always bleeding. it’s hard to breathe easy when your head is always underwater.
Let’s start this recap by saying we only found out they were coming to Italy like two days before the concert itself. As Johann Frank too said on his twitter, this has been their most last minute show ever. It was amazing though, they’re all so talented and down to earth.
I had such a good time and
Nathan is so funny. When they took over the stage, East of Eli’s music managed to enthrall me completely. Obviously, seeing Chyler in person up so close (I was in the second row) was heart-stopping. I don’t know how it’s possible but that woman is even prettier in real life, damn! Nathan and Chyler made us laugh various times during the concert, so dorky and cute. I have a couple of videos I can share if anyone wants me to, either of them trying to speak Italian or of the live performances (Chyler’s voice ♥♥)
You guys need to stop portraying Nico as ready to murder anyone at any time like it’s some kind of joke to him. He’s a son of Hades who lost his sister. I really don’t think other people’s death are that funny to him.
Alex grins over from across the diner at her little sister and her new friend, leaning conspiratorially into each other in a booth at Noonan’s.
Both in glasses – one to conceal her identity, one because why the hell not? – both moaning as they dig into the massive ice cream sundae on the table between them.
“I only had to cross an ocean to encounter this delicious cream,” Diana is telling her. “You had to cross – what did you call it?”
“The Phantom Zone,” Kara nods, closing her eyes as she leaves the spoon upside down in her mouth a little longer than necessary, oblivious to the way Diana stops eating to stare wide-eyed at Kara’s lips.
“Was it lonely? That Phantom Zone?”
Kara shrugs as she opens her eyes, and Diana wonders at the kind of blue.
“I don’t remember it. Being stuck there. Except sometimes in dreams. Alex would wake me up screaming when we were kids. My planet would be burning and I’d be stuck in what felt like an abyss, in my pod, and I couldn’t…”
Diana reaches a hand out for Kara’s, and their eyes lock hard.
“It must have been beautiful. Krypton.”
Kara’s smile returns even as tears prick her eyes. “My father used to take me to the edges of Argo City to watch our sun rise – it was red, not yellow like this one – and so much of our cities were just… awash in silver, in our technology, and it could have been sterile, I guess.”
She adjusts her glasses and swipes her spoon through a river of chocolate fudge and licks it off slow, thoughtful. Accidentally seductive, even as Diana’s heart bleeds along with her words.
“But it wasn’t. The way the rising sun would reflect off of all that metal… it was anything but cold. It was… Anyway. It’s gone, now.”
Diana shakes her head slowly. “Not in your heart, Kara Zor-el. Nothing can ever truly be gone. Not if you keep it alive inside you.”
Kara sighs and creates the ultimate sundae spoonful: wet walnuts, fudge, ice cream, a piece of banana, sprinkles, whipped cream. She offers it out to Diana, who accepts, and her eyes fly wide as she moans so loudly, so joyously, that Alex – now joined by her girlfriend – isn’t the only one in Noonan’s turning to stare. Kara giggles.
“The first time I tried it, I got so excited I started flying without even trying to. Alex tried to hold me down but wound up just coming along for the ride.”
Diana laughs, and it’s light and it’s happy and it’s so damn full.
“Your sister’s a brave warrior, it seems. Angry. Frightening, perhaps. But loyal. And that police woman seems to make her smile more easily.”
Kara nods and they both glance over at Alex and Maggie, who catch their eyes and wave.
“She’s the only reason I ever felt at home on this planet. Alex. I don’t know what I’d do without her.”
Diana thinks of Steve, of gas and of planes. She thinks of her aunt, of generals and of last breaths.
Kara doesn’t have J’onn’s telepathy, but she knows anyway. She knows that look.
She sees it in the mirror far too often.
Nearly every time she looks.
“My aunt died, too. Was killed. She survived – she survived, I got her back, a piece of my home, and then she – “ Kara shudders, and tries not to think of Alex.
Alex, protecting her space father.
Alex, loyal to a fault.
Alex, her sister, her world, who somehow became a hardened soldier without her noticing.
“She died. In battle. A renowned General.” Kara smiles softly, and it’s Diana, this time, who tries her hand at creating the perfect spoonful of sundae and offers it to Kara.
“I thought the world would never be able to go on when I lost my general. My mother’s sister. It felt like… you know what it felt like, Kara Zor-el.”
Kara nods, and remembers holding Astra, dying. Remembers holding Alex, weeping. Remembers holding her hand out for J’onn, breathing, breathing. Breathing.
“I have a projection of my mother. Maybe we could try to make one of your aunt. At the DEO. It… it’s not the same, and sometimes… sometimes I don’t know if she left me with the burden of caring for Earth or the burden of righting the wrongs I didn’t even know she’d done, but it… it’s comforting, anyway. Being able to see her. Talk to her. Even if it’s not really her.”
Diana’s eyes sparkle at this girl’s generosity. The way this woman bears the weight of multiple planets on shoulders that somehow still manage to look carefree.
This warrior who doesn’t at all think herself a warrior.
But perhaps that’s what makes her such a powerful one.
“How have you done it, Kara? Seen all you’ve seen, and still… Ares told me that this world doesn’t deserve me, that I should rule it, enslave it, rather than… they kill and they torture and they… how have you done it?”
Kara pokes at their slowly disappearing, slowly melting sundae with her spoon.
“Ice cream helps,” she smiles softly, and Diana looks at her like she’s the sun. Because maybe she is.
“Love,” she amends more seriously. “If I let go of it, I… Alex does terrible things. The person I love most in the world. She hurts people, and she thinks… she thinks it’s alright, because it’s always in defense of someone she loves. She doesn’t think about the people who love the person she’s beating. Or, she does, but… after. Maggie’s helping her with it. J’onn too. And I’m trying. Sometimes I feel like it’s my fault, like I turned her into someone this ruthless, but I… I guess what I’m saying is… I love her. I love her more than my own life. All of her. And she helps me understand. Humans. This planet. The things people do out of fear. Out of love. Out of terror of losing love. The people you’ve found, Diana. They have to be your anchor. Otherwise it… otherwise it consumes you. The things Ares said to you. And you can’t let it. You’re too good.”
“As are you, Kara. As are you.”
Kara licks her lips and lets her eyes lock hard into Diana’s.
“You know what also helps?”
Diana shakes her head, her eyes starting to sparkle, her lips starting to quirk up into an excited smile.
“Pool,” Kara grins.
“We have pools on Themyscira! Mystical pools, with water that – what?” she trails off, smiling in slight confusion, because Kara is laughing and touching her hand and god, she can feel the undercurrent of Kara’s power even in her gentle, affectionate gesture, and it makes her gulp.
“No, I mean a game. Come on. Alex and Maggie will show you.”
Kara is up and offering her hand, and Diana is taking it but her eyes are wide and her lips are playful.
“Can we get more ice cream there?” she asks, and Kara beams.
“Great thing about this city? We can get ice cream almost anywhere.”
Honestly Call the Midwife is such a special show. Every episode is so rich. It furthers the plot and main character arcs while also always having a pregnancy-of-the-week with real depth and poignancy, usually adding to the main characters’ plot both directly and through subtle parallels. It’s light and funny as well as dark and real. It’s one of the few shows that makes me sob pretty much every episode. It has wonderful characters, mostly women, each with flaws and pasts and hopes for the future. It also doesn’t use the time period in which it’s set as an excuse for a lack of diversity; it has characters from all walks of life and even a loving lesbian relationship between two main characters. I just can’t express my love for it enough. It’s always such a treat at the beginning of every year to get a new series.

(Flashbacks are in italics) (y/n) = your name (y/n/n) = your nickname
“Wha-? Whoa! Hey easy (y/n)!” Dean chuckled.
“Uh? Uh oh! Hey wait a minute Katie don- OW!”
Dean tumbled to the ground as he was knocked down by his little sisters.
“Easily tackled down by his own two little sisters, how sad.” Sam cackled at his older brother who currently had two little girls on top of him.
“Shut up Sam!” Dean retorted.
(y/n) and Katie giggled at their older brothers bickering.
“De come play with us!” Little (y/n) exclaimed happily.
“Sammy can you come play with us too?” Little Katie asked.
“Sorry buggies, we’re kind of busy right now.” Dean explained.
It wasn’t a lie, as much as they wanted to, Dean was put in charge and had to keep watch of his younger siblings until their dad and Bobby got back. And Sammy was busy with homework. Playing with them just get them both distracted.
“Aw, pretty please?” (y/n) pleaded.
“With sugar on top?” Katie added after her sister.
They even did their best puppy dog eyes to convince Sam and Dean to come play with them.
Both brothers looked at each other and sighed. Who can say no to those adorable eyes. Obviously they had learned that from Sam.
“I blame you Sammy, they got that from you.” Dean said.
“Obviously they learned from the best” Sam smiled as Dean only rolled his eyes at his younger brother’s sudden cockiness.
“Alright fine, we’ll play with you guys, but only for a little while.” Dean said.
“Yay!!” Both Katie and (y/n) exclaimed happily.
“Come on let’s go play hide and go seek!”
The siblings played around for a bit and ran around the house, careful not to break any of Uncle Bobby’s things. After playing around and acting all goofy, it was time for (y/n)’s nap time. She was still little and John wanted to make sure his little girl still got the nap times she deserved. Katie, even though just merely a few years older than (y/n), was still a loud to take one if she wanted to. But claiming she was too big for naps, she decided not to take one this time.
Sam tucked (y/n) in a nice cozy blanket on the couch, while Katie sat near her little sister with her notebook in her hand. Dean and Sam sat near too to continue what they were doing before.
As (y/n) drifted off to sleep, all three siblings heard her murmur something that made their heart melt.
“ I wuv you uys” (y/n) said softly as she dosed off.
All three smiled at their adorable baby sister who they loved too.
———————— (Timeskip a few years ahead)
Stupid Dean. Stupid Sam. Stupid…Stupid Katie! How dare they! I can hunt, I have just as much as right as they do. It was the same thing every time ‘no (y/n) you’re too young’ ‘no it’s too dangerous (y/n), you have to stay here (y/n), you’re gonna get hurt (y/n)’.
You’ve had a enough of it. All of it.You packed your stuff and ran off on your own to take care of this hunt. You were doing perfectly fine until your siblings found you and had to ruin it for you.
Now all four of you were trying to stay alive because whatever monster you were hunting was now hunting you. Fantastic! Absolutely Fantastic.
Covered in dirt, scrapes, bruises, blood and whatever other crap was on you, you were beyond pissed and walking away from your older siblings.
“(y/n)!! You have to stop!” Dean called out.
“It’s dangerous now is not the time to act like this, please listen to us (y/n/n)!” Sam pleaded.
You didn’t want to hear it anymore. You were tired and sick of hearing the same thing over and over agin. You walked faster not paying a single attention towards where you were heading.
“(y/n)!!” Katie called out and ran towards you.
“Go away, I have a hunt to finish!”
You couldn’t help it, you were determined, you wanted to prove yourself to them.
“No you aren’t! You aren’t doing this by yourself! You have to stop acting like this” Katie yelled out.
She caught up to you and suddenly grabbed your arm sharply and turned you around to face her. But you weren’t having it, you snatched your arm out of her grip. And before you can stop yourself, the hurtful words were already coming out of your mouth.
“Oh my god! I hate you guys! All of you are always trying to control me! I’ve had it! Just go away and leave me alone already” With angry tears in your eyes you turned to walk away.
That stopped Sam and Dean in their tracks for a split second, while Katie stood their in shock.
Those word stung and hurt them really hard, especially since it came from their baby sister who they loved and cared for deeply. Before Dean, Sam or Katie could say anything else, as you walked away, a white painful light suddenly struck you and blinded you.
“(y/n)!!” Katie was quick to run towards you and grab a hold of you, with Sam and Dean not to far behind. They were running toward you both. But before they could do anything, the white light struck Katie too and surrounded and blinded the both of you.
“(y/n), Katie!!” Dean and Sam screamed out.
Everything went blank and there was suddenly just darkness.
'I hate you guys!’ Your own words echoed into your mind until they slowly faded away….
