i liked this movie quite a bit

@bookwyrmling oh yes, I figured from the few streams and sideblog things posted that it would just be a fun one this update and honestly, I LOVED it all… but you know. I also love to try to guess the progression of things. Like the fool trying to guess the endgame of a movie halfway thru (that’s me, I’m the fool). But I never ever guess right with chkpls because the narrative never ‘goes far enough’ for my taste like. It’s all very tame. And yet, that’s ok!!! But I still have that bit of like, a 'hmmm’ reaction to things never quite being a conflict.

Idk I’m def having fun with it all though!!

b-listbadboy  asked:

What's your favorite song in any of the GOTG awesome mixes? Also, if you could choose a song from the 60s-80s to be in a GOTG movie, what would it be?

from the first one, my fave is come and get your love, and from the second one… idk probably fox on the run? i do like brandy quite a bit but it makes me sad :’)))

l o l if i could pick my own song it’d probably be something really silly… like take on me or wake me up before you go…………. OR yknow it’d be rly funny to see, girls just wanna have fun?? i dont know what scene or situation it’d be used in but i want THAT

Paper Stars

Summary: Dan starts to get love notes in his locker in the form of origami stars, so he gets the help of his best friend, Phil, to figure out who it is.

A/N: Thanks to @insanityplaysfics as always for giving me ideas. I’m a fucking sap recently because my boyfriend proposed to me and I just wanna write a crapton of fluff and puke rainbows everywhere. This is short and sweet, which is very rare for me! I hope you like it anyways!

The day Dan opened his locker to a strange slip of paper folded into an origami star was one of the strangest moments of his life.

“What,” Dan said simply, giving the offending paper a strange look. He bent down and retrieved it, staring at it long and hard. It was thin, made with a flowery paper, and he could just make out words written in very small print on it. “What,” Dan said again.

With a small amount of struggle, Dan managed to unwrap the star, revealing the writing inside. The script was sloppy to the point where Dan thinks it was written with the wrong hand. Dan said “what” again and the word didn’t even sound like it was real anymore. It took him a few minutes to read what it said due to the scribble, but he eventually managed.

‘i used to stare out the window because i thought the scenery was beautiful. Then i saw you and suddenly the world didnt seem nearly as captivating as before.

A classic scene from a classic ytp…

But seriously please check out this guys channel he needs more attention.

Honestly one of my favorite things about the new King Arthur movie is that it seems like one of the easiest ways to piss off Arthur is to hurt or threaten a woman. Also the fact that it looked to me like one of the reasons he learned fighting was to protect the women at the brothel who took him in. I’ve seen the movie twice now and I’m just like. I’m about this though. As I say quite a bit, real men don’t make women fear for their safety they step up and protect them.

When You Have A Nightmare

Haruhi : When you woke up panting and crying, at first she would be confused about what was happening. Being suddenly woken up left her a little cranky. However, once she realized how upset you were, she would immediately come to your side and ask you to tell her what happened. She would also talk about stories from when she had bad nightmares, so that you wouldn’t feel ashamed about it. After you calmed down she would lay down with you, snuggling up and rubbing her hand up your arm or down your back in a soothing pattern.

Kaoru : He actually woke up before you did. That was mostly due to the fact that you were moving around so much and then nailed him in the stomach with your foot. He’d shake you gently, whispering your name over and over until you were awake. When you suddenly sat up and hugged him tightly, he didn’t object or ask questions. He simply laid you back down, holding you close, rubbing your hair and whispering sweet nothings into your ear until you fell asleep again.

(sorry, the gif is really big, just keep scrolling down)

Hikaru : He knew that you were awake, he just didn’t know why, and frankly, he didn’t care. He wanted to fall back asleep, and whatever you needed could wait until the morning. It wasn’t until a few minutes later, when you shook him awake that he finally opened his eyes. He was about to yell until he saw that you had tears in your eyes. Of course, him being the stubborn person he is, he only pulled you into a hug, and continued to tell you to go back to sleep so that he wouldn’t be tired the next day.

“Come on, go back to sleep, idiot.”

Though on the inside, he was extremely worried about you.

Tamaki : He had known immediately that something was wrong when he heard a small whimper from your side of the bed. You weren’t one to wake up during the night, especially after a long day at school. He would turn around slowly, and wrap his arms around you; nuzzling his nose into the back of your head.

“Are you okay princess?”

He would ask you what had happened, but wouldn’t push you if weren’t ready yet. He would try to ask again in the morning, just to make sure you were okay. In the meantime, he would just whisper compliments to you, and move around so that you were comfortable, but as close to him as possible.

Kyoya : He would still be awake in another room when you came padding into the room. He would wait a minute for you to say something, but after a moment, he would turn around to see you standing in the doorway in a pitiful state. He would open his mouth to say something, but before he could, you ran towards him and sat on his lap. He would let you cry for a minute, kissing your head and rubbing his arms up and down your back. He would take a more logical approach, asking you to tell him just what happened in your dream, or maybe take you to the kitchen to make you a warm glass of milk, and hold you in his arms until you fell into a peaceful slumber. He would take you back to the room, lay down with you in bed, and fall asleep with you in his arms.

Morinozuka : You had already been in his arms when you woke up. You had already forgotten what the dream was about, just that it was scaring you a lot. Mori, of course, with his super ninja-like skills, would have already woken up, and known that you were awake too. He would grunt to tell you he was awake, and when you just smiled up towards him, he knew something was wrong. That wasn’t your smile. Instead of commenting, he would tighten his arms around you. He may even hum a song for you. Anything that would give you peace of mind, he would do, until you eventually fell back asleep with him.

Mitsukuni : When Mitsukuni knows what happened, he would break out into tears as well. Most likely even more than you already were.

“Ahhh, (Y/N)! I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you from the monsters! I promise I’ll become stronger so I can beat them next time, okay?”

He would be crying for quite a bit, and you would completely forget about your dream, instead trying to distract your now hysterical boyfriend. You would try to find something to distract him, but only got a response when you suggested you guys have an early-morning movie marathon with lots of sweet treats. You wouldn’t be getting anymore sleep that night, but you had found one of the greatest cures for a nightmare.

You, Me, Him, and the Universe

Description: The universe won’t be any kinder to our children than it was to us if we aren’t kinder than our own fathers were.

Or… the reader and Spencer Reid have a child together. Spencer is desperate not to make the same mistakes that his father made.

Word Count: 1948 words (this got so long, sorry)

A/N: Haha ok so I wrote and deleted and rewrote the whole thing several times. At this point it goes in an entirely different direction from my original idea. Also. This is a Reid x Reader kid fic, but the reader isn’t actually the main focus of the story. It’s mostly Reid and, later, your kid. You make like, a guest appearance basically. Furthermore, I have no idea why nebulizers became so central in this fic. I don’t even know if they had the same kind in the 80s. If you don’t know what a nebulizer is, give it a quick google. Finally, part 1 of this is kind of stream of consciousness-esque and a little vague. I styled it this way because part 1 describes one of Reid’s early memories. Some readers might find it a tad annoying, and I apologize in advance if that is true for you. All of that said, it would be really great if you could give this story a try anyway. I’m actually pretty proud of it.

1986

“I can’t breathe, mommy!” Spencer’s four-year-old body shook with sobs, making it even more difficult for him to inhale oxygen in the midst of an asthma attack.

Normally, his mother would have brought out the nebulizer, helped him get the mask over his face, and gently rubbed his back and read to him as the medicine slowly opened his airways. But she was having one of her “bad days” and was convinced that the medicine had been tampered with and would hurt her son. So the nebulizer had been placed in a cupboard far out of Spencer’s reach, and he was left to cry and wheeze and beg his mother for his medication.

I want to talk a little bit about Jyn Erso

So…I’ve seen around that her character arc is weird, and that she lost a lot between the trailers and the movie, and while I really wish she’d got to keep that “I rebel” line, I actually liked her arc quite a bit. It was just an unusual shape.

Here is what we know about Jyn:

When she was 8, her mother died in front of her and her father was taken away. She hid in a hole, waiting for Deathtroopers to find her, until the lights had all gone out, and then the door opened and Saw was there. He took her in and trained her, and she fought alongside his extremists against the Empire.

When she was 16, Saw Gerrera left her alone, with a knife because the others were starting to ask too many questions about who she was. SIX.TEEN. And she survived for the next six years, until the Imperials captured her, and she was sent to a labour camp, and then the door opened, and Cassian was there.

When she was 22, strangers asked her for her darkest secrets. She gave them up. When she was 22, she faced her father’s ghost and then her father’s death and then her father’s dream. When she was 22, she forgave Saw. When she was 22 she learned to trust again, sort of. When she was 22, she looked at a ship full of rebels who had signed up to follow her even though it was super dangerous and said “May the Force be with us”, and smiled…because she was home.

When she was 22, she died.

It’s an unconventional way of carrying a story. Both Bodhi and Cassian have clearer “Redemption” arcs (though I would argue that Bodhi does not require one), which is a story we’re used to hearing from Star Wars. Jyn gives us something we haven’t seen much of before, except maybe during the time Kanan Jarrus was an alcoholic. Like Kanan, Jyn does not change herself for love, but does so because of it.

Jyn Erso doesn’t have a lot to prove, except to herself, and she doesn’t have a stake in much, beyond her own survival. But she goes anyway, because she can and because they need her, and I thought that was kind of cool.

PART 2  /  PART 3  /  PART 4  /  PART 5  /  PART 6  /  PART 7  /  PART 8  /  PART 9

Your entire life had always looked like a movie. And not a funny or romantic one. More like a drama. At the beginning, it was like a princess story: you were the youngest daughter of the Queen family, you had an easy and happy childhood, you could get anything you wanted just by named it. You even were a bit spoiled if you were honest to yourself. Then Oliver and your father went on the journey and never came back. Your life changed. The life of your entire family changed.

You became a new person. You were forced to grow up and become a woman so it wasn’t surprising that when Oliver came back out of nowhere, he barely recognized you. You couldn’t blame him but it was too late for you to be the old dreamy (Y/N) Queen. Still, you had hope. Your brother was alive, he was back, so maybe things could go back to the way they were before. But time proved you wrong in ways you would have never imagined.

Before you knew how it happened, you were at Tommy Merlyn’s funeral, then at your mother’s and when you least expected…Laurel’s. It all became too much. Hit after hit, life was taking you down and you didn’t know if you were going to be strong enough to take more tragedy so you made a decision: you had to leave Star City before it changed you in ways you didn’t want to.

“You’re what?” Oliver said when you told him and Thea about your decision.

You had come to the City Hall to talk to Oliver and Thea. You knew Oliver would be too happy. Although everything that had happened had been awful, it had made you, Oliver and Thea come closer than ever before. So you knew it would be hard for them, but you also knew they would be there for you, at least Thea. It would take more time for Oliver to come around.

“I’m leaving Star City” you repeated. “Before you say anything, Oliver, I’m not asking for permission. I’m telling you. I’m leaving” you added crossing your arms.

“Are you sure?” Thea asked with a frown.

“I know you’re worried. I’m your baby sister and it’s a big step but it’s also something I need to do” you said looking at both of them. “I will be fine but I just can’t stay here any longer. I’ve been through too much and after Laurel…I can’t take it anymore. I need a fresh start” you explained looking down at your hands. “I know it hasn’t been easy to any of you either, but somehow you have managed to be stronger than me” you shrugged.

“You’re as strong as we are. We are the Queen’s after all” Thea smiled at you as she grabbed your hand and gave you a reassuring squeeze.

“I know we are. But I’ve been strong for so long that I need a break from everything” you said looking now at your brother.

“Where are you supposed to go?” He asked looking down at his hands.

You knew this was a huge deal for him. You and Thea meant everything for him, especially after Felicity broke up with him. He had always protected you, he had been your rock, your confident, your best friend. However, you knew he would let you go if it was for your own happiness and wellbeing. Still, it would be hard to watch you walk away from him and out of his sight.

“Central City” you informed them. You saw how they exchanged looks of concern, which made you laugh. “I’m not going there to stop metahumans, calm down” you laughed. “I want to study journalism and I’m going to do it there,” you explained.

“Journalism?” Oliver questioned with an eyebrow raised.

“Hey, you two are doing important jobs in here. I mean…you’re the Mayor,” you said. “I want to do something that belongs to me. I want to make my own name, not the one the family has given to me,” you added looking down at your hands.

“There’s no way we can change your mind?” Thea asked with a small smile.

“I already got my place at the university so…not really” you chuckled.

“You’re unbelievable,” Thea said getting up. “Come here”, she said opening her arms.

Smiling, you got up and hugged your sister with strength. She had always been so comprehensive with you, even when you had the craziest ideas she had supported you, which had made her one of your most important pillars in your life.

“Thank you”, you whispered as you hugged her.

“If you need anything. Anything. Just give us a call and we will be there, you know it right?” She said in your ear. You nodded with a small smile. “And don’t worry about Oliver. He’ll come around” she added.

“I know” you smiled pulling away. “I love you”

“And I love you too” she replied.

She looked at Oliver for a moment before leaving the office. Probably she had a bunch of things to do. Taking a deep breath, you turned to look at Oliver who was now standing and looking out of the window.

“How am I supposed to let you go?” He asked.

“By…letting me take your car?” You teased.

“No way” he replied quickly. Even when you weren’t seeing his face, you could hear the hint of a smile in his voice. “Are you completely sure about it?” He asked finally turning to look at you.

“I am” you said walking around the desk to stand by his side. He looked down at you for a few seconds before pulling you into a tight hug. “Ollie, I’m going to be fine, I promise”

“Do you really think I’m going to feel better because you say that?” He said.

“I know you won’t” you laughed and pulled away. “But I will. Plus, it’s Central City, not another continent, and The Flash is there” you said with a smile.

“Don’t you dare messing with any metahuman, understand? That’s dangerous” he warned you.

“Oliver, I’m joking. I’m not really interested in them” you shrugged.

“Fine…” he sighed. “When are you leaving?” He asked.

“Tomorrow” you smiled.

“Tomorrow!?” He exclaimed.

“Hey! If I waited any longer I’m sure you would find the way to stop me so yes, tomorrow” you said. He narrowed his eyes at you and sighed shaking his head.

“I hate you” he mumbled hugging you again.

“I know you don’t” you smiled hugging him back. He laughed a little and kissed the top of your head.

“No I don’t, but I hate that my baby sister is leaving” he said making you tear up a little.

Request: Arthur x reader, where reader is excellent warrior, maybe use sword or bow

Warnings: None

Word count: 2,103

A/N: Since the request didn’t give a plot, I took the liberty of making up my own, and somehow I don’t feel like it fits super well with the request, but still. Ever since Charlie Hunnam showed up on screen I fell in love with his character and now have quite a couple of requests for him lined up, so thanks so much for that. i love you guys. Also, if you’re a writer and watched/liked the movie, I highly encourage you to write about it, because I have barely seen any people talking about it (it’s also quite new, so it makes sense). And if you haven’t watched it, I really recommend it. (Finding gifs of Charlie as Arthur is hard, help)

Over the years, you’d come to know almost everyone in Londinium, yet few people knew you. It  was a decision you’d made purposefully, of course. You didn’t really see the point in being well known, since all that seemed to arise from that was conflict, but there was one person that did: Arthur.

Arthur was known around Londinium for being a scoundrel and not to be messed with, a reputation he’d acquired for himself after all his little adventures with his clique, of which he was the unspoken leader. There was just something different about him, a little spark that made him special, yet you could not pinpoint what it was. It was almost as if he was born a leader, having it somewhat in his blood.

And, even though you had no knowledge of it, you were both fairly similar.

Everything Johnny Cade says in the book.

“Leave her alone, Dally.”

“You sure didn’t show it. Nobody talks to Dally like that.”

“Sixteen.”

“How come y’all ain’t scared of us like you were Dally?”

“Dally’s okay. He’s tough, but he’s a cool old guy.”

“Hey, Two-Bit.”

“Aw, cut it out! Dally was bothering them and when he left they wanted us to sit with them to protect them. Against wisecracking greasers like you, probably.”

“Soda?”

“There was a whole bunch of them. A blue Mustang full…I got so scared..”

“Your boyfriends?”

“Gee, I thought you and Darry and Soda got along real well…”

“It’s the truth. I don’t care.”

“It’s because we’re greasers. We could have hurt her reputation.”

“Man, that was a tuff car. Mustangs are tuff.”

“I can’t take much more. I’ll kill myself or something.”

“Well, I won’t. But I gotta do something. It seems like there’s gotta be someplace without greasers or Socs, with just people. Plain, ordinary people.”

“Ponyboy. Hey, Pony, wake up.”

“I don’t know. I went to sleep, too, listening to you rattle on and on. You’d better get home I think I’ll stay all night out here.

“Okay.”

“Easy, Ponyboy. We’ll be okay.”

“Well, don’t be. You’re scarin’ me. What happened? I never seen you bawl like that.”

“I think I like it better when the old man’s hittin’ me. At least then I know he knows who I am. I walk in that house, and nobody says anything. I walk out, and nobody says anything. I stay away all night, and nobody notices. At least you got Soda. I ain’t got nobody.”

“It ain’t the same as having your own folks care about you. It just ain’t the same.”

“Okay. Okay.”

“Ain’t you about to freeze to death, Pony?”

“I don’t know. But I bet they’re looking for us. We picked up their girls.”

“It’s too late now. Here they come.”

“You’re outa your territory. You’d better watch it.”

“I killed him. I killed that boy.”

“Go ahead. I won’t look at you.”

“Yeah. I had to. They were drowning you, Pony. They might have killed you. And they had a blade…they were gonna be me up…”

“Yeah. Like they did before.”

“They ran when I stabbed him. They all ran.”

“Calm down, Ponyboy. Get ahold of yourself.”

“We gotta get outa here. Get somewhere. Run away. The police’ll be here soon. We’ll need money. And maybe a gun. And a plan.”

“Dally. Dally’ll get us outa here.”

“I think at Buck Merril’s place. There’s a party over there tonight. Dally said somethin’ about it this afternoon.”

“Dally! We gotta see Dally.”

“We figured you could get us out if anyone could. I’m sorry we got you away from the party.”

“Wish I had me a weed.”

“Sure, Dally, thanks.”

“Now.”

“The first stop’ll be Windrixville. I don’t see why he gave me this. I couldn’t shoot anybody.”

“Blast it, Ponyboy. You must have put my legs to sleep. I can’t even stand up. I barely got off that train.”

“That’s okay. I didn’t want to wake you up until I had to.”

“Go ask someone. The story won’t be in the paper yet. Make like a farm boy taking a walk or something.”

“I’ll have to stay here. You go down the road and ask the first person you see where Jay Mountain is. Then come back. And for Pete’s sake, run a comb through your hair and quit slouching down like a thug.”

“You know, you look an awful lot like Sodapop, the way you’ve got your hair and everything. I mean, except your eyes are green.”

“Shoot, you are too.”

“I swear, Ponyboy, you’re gettin’ to act more like Two-Bit every day.”

“Come on inside. Dally told us to stay inside.”

“A week’s supply of baloney, two loaves of bread, a box of matches…”

“I remembered you sayin’ something about it once. And me and you went to see that movie, ‘member? I thought you could maybe read it out loud and help kill time or something.”

“We’re gonna cut our hair, and you’re gonna bleach yours. They’ll have our descriptions in the paper. We can’t fit ‘em.”

“We’d have to anyway if we got caught. You know the first thing a judge does is make you get a haircut.”

“I don’t know either—it’s just a way of trying to break us. They can’t really do anything to guys like Curly Shepard or Tim; they’ve had about everything done to them. And they can’t take anything away from them because they don’t have anything in the first place. So they cut their hair.”

“Oh, come on, Ponyboy. It’ll grow back.”

“No. We gotta bleach it first.”

“Cut the front and thin out the rest. I’ll comb it back after I wash it.”

“Go ahead and cut it.”

“I guess—I guess we’re disguised.”

“Oh, shoot. It’s just hair.”

“Well, we got to get used to it. We’re in big trouble and it’s our looks or us.”

“I’m sorry I cut off your hair, Ponyboy.”

“I know. Things have been happening so fast…”

“Two-Bit shoulda been in that little one-horse store. Man, we’re in the middle of nowhere; the nearest house is two miles away. Things were layin’ out wide open, just waitin’ for somebody slick like Two-Bit to come and pick ‘em up. He coulda walked out with half the store. Good ol’ Two-Bit.”

“Stop it! Shut up about last night! I killed a kid last night. He couldn’t of been over seventeen or eighteen, and I killed him. How’d you like to live with that?”

“I didn’t mean to, but they was drownin’ you, and I was so scared…There sure is a lot of blood in people.”

“This is my fault for bringin’ a thirteen-year-old kid along. You ought to go home. You can’t get into any trouble. You didn’t kill him.”

“I didn’t mean it like that, Ponyboy. Don’t cry, Pony, we’ll be okay. Don’t cry…”

“Yeah.”

“Nope. We’re all cried out now. We’re gettin’ used to the idea. We’re gonna be okay now.”

“I bet they were cool ol’ guys. They remind me of Dally.”

“Yeah…in the manners bit, and the charm, too, I guess. But one night I saw Dally gettin’ picked up by the fuzz, and he kept real cool and calm the whole time. They was gettin’ him for breakin’ out the windows in the school building, and it was Two-Bit who did that. And Dally knew it. But he just took the sentence without battin’ an eye or even denyin’ it. That’s gallant.”

“Golly. That sure is pretty.”

“The mist was what was pretty. All gold and silver.”

“Too bad it couldn’t stay like that all the time.”

“What?”

“Where’d you learn that? That was what I meant.”

“You know, I never noticed colors and clouds and stuff until you kept reminding me about them. It seems like they were never there before. Your family sure is funny.”

“I didn’t mean nothing. I meant, well, Soda kinda looks like your mother did, but he acts just exactly like your father. And Darry is the spittin’ image of your father, but he ain’t wild and laughing all the time like he was. He acts like your mother. And you don’t act like either one.”

“Yeah. I guess we’re different.”

“You’re starved?”

“Yeah. Whatever gave you the idea we ain’t?”

“You sure can cuss good, Dally.”

“You’d better believe it.”

“Gee, it sure will be good to get into a car again.”

“A spy? Who?”

“Cherry? The Soc?”

“Yeah.”

“We’re goin’ back and turn ourselves in.”

“I said we’re goin’ back and turn ourselves in.”

“I got a good chance of bein’ let off easy. I ain’t got no record with the fuzz and it was self-defense. Ponyboy and Cherry can testify to that. And I don’t aim to stay in that church all my life.”

“We won’t tell that you helped us, Dally, and we’ll give you back the gun and what’s left of the money and say we hitchhiked back so you won’t get into trouble. Okay?”

“I’m sure. It ain’t fair for Ponyboy to have to stay up in that church with Darry and Soda worryin’ about him all the time. I don’t guess…I don’t guess my parents are worried about me or anything?”

“My parents, did they ask about me?”

“I was scared. I still am. I guess we ruined our hair for nothing, Ponyboy.”

“Would you rather have me living in hide-outs for the rest of my life, always on the run?”

“Hey, Ponyboy.”

“The window stopped him.”

‘Naw…Too fat.”

“Where’s the kids?”

“Shut up! We’re goin’ to get you out!”

“Get out!”

“Hey, y’all.”

“Don’t…don’t let me put enough grease on my hair. “

“He came by.”

“Came to see Dally.”

“Tuff enough.”

“The book—can you get another one?”

“Yeah, it just hurts sometimes. It usually don’t…I can’t feel anything below the middle of my back…”

“I’m pretty bad off, ain’t I, Pony?”

“I won’t be able to walk again. Not even on crutches. Busted my back.”

“You want to know something, Ponyboy? I’m scared stiff. I used to talk about killing myself…I don’t want to die now. It ain’t long enough. Sixteen years ain’t long enough. I wouldn’t mind it so much if there wasn’t so much I ain’t done yet and so many things I ain’t seen. It’s not fair. You know what? That time we were in Windrixville was the only time I’ve been away from our neighborhood.”

“I don’t want to see her.”

“I said I don’t want to see her. She’s probably come to tell me about all the trouble I’m causing her and about how glad her and the old man’ll be when I’m dead. Well, tell her to leave me alone. For once—for once just to leave me alone.”

“Hey.”

“Useless…fighting’s no good…”

“Ponyboy.”

Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.”

Dark (Blurb)

A little daddy!Harry fluff to help ease some ticket pains! Hope you enjoy! <3

—————————————————————————————–

Your little girl was scared of the dark.

It was a new development, having only noticed it in the last few weeks. But there had been no indications leading up to the revelation of her fear that would have explained its sudden onset. One night, she was perfectly okay to sleep in her own bed and the next, she was in hysterics the moment you tried to put her down.

It had started one evening when Harry was tucking her in. The lead-up had been totally normal: she had brushed her teeth, gotten into her pajamas and Harry had read her a story. But when he went to switch the light off and give her a kiss goodnight, she had thrown the covers away from her body and wrapped her little arms around his neck.

After a few soothing hugs and a promise that he wasn’t going to leave for a bit, Harry had finally gotten her to admit what was bothering her. She was afraid of the dark and didn’t want to sleep alone.

Harry had opted to stay with her that one night, thinking it was just a one-off thing that would dissipate in the coming days, but it didn’t. You and Harry tried everything; you left her door open so the hall light could shine in, you bought her a princess nightlight that made the walls of her room even brighter than the lamp would have, you opened her blinds so the moon light would shine in, but nothing seemed to work. In fact, her fear intensified over time to the point where she wouldn’t even sleep in her own bed.

It had been countless nights of trying to put her to sleep, only to have it end in screams and cries until Harry finally gave in and let her fall asleep on his chest in the sitting room.

“We can’t keep this up,” you whispered one night, watching your little girl sleep soundly in his arms, “She’s going to have to go back to her room eventually.”

“I know,” Harry mumbled, glancing down at her, “But I hate hearing her cry about it. Breaks my heart that I can’t fix it.”

You left them to sit for a while longer while you got yourself ready for bed. He had his little girl wrapped up in his arms and took a moment to notice just how big she was getting. She was just past four now and Harry could so clearly remember a time when she had fit perfectly in his arms. Now, her legs were flopped and her body was only partially situated on his lap. She was getting big and he knew you were right; this wasn’t something that could go on forever.

Reluctantly, he stood with her and walked to her bedroom, gently pulling back the covers and placing her underneath them. She stirred immediately when he detached her from his arms and whined a bit as she opened her eyes.

“Daddy?”

“Shh, go back to sleep, love. You’re okay.”

It took a few seconds for her to register what was happening, but the moment she realized that she was no longer in Harry’s arms and that he was getting ready to leave the room, her eyes went wide and Harry saw her lip begin to wobble immediately.

“Daddy, no!!” she pleaded, “Don’t go, please! Don’t go, I’m scared!”

She had a tight grip on his arm, so Harry sat down on the edge of the bed to try and sooth her. He sighed when she immediately tried to crawl back on to his lap, but he didn’t force her off.

“Sweetheart, you can’t sleep on daddy’s lap tonight. You need to be a big girl and sleep in your own bed.”

“But I’m scared, daddy!” she repeated, voice near a sob by this point, “It’s dark; I want you to stay!”

“What are you scared of, monkey? Hmm? Can you tell daddy what’s scarin’ you?”

“I don’t like the dark, daddy,” she whimpered, burying her face in his chest.

“Why not, love? The dark can’t hurt you. What’s made you so scared of sleeping on your own lately?”

She was quiet for a moment, and Harry rubbed his hand over her back to try and get her to talk.

“I saw somethin’ scary, daddy,” she answered, very quietly.

Harry frowned. “What did you see?”

“When you and mummy were watching TV, you were watching something with a monster and I saw it on accident.”

Harry thought back to a few weeks ago when the two of you had opted for a little Netflix night, settling on an old horror movie from the 50′s about a werewolf. The movie itself wasn’t scary at all and actually rather silly, but Harry knew that it would have been quite a bit scarier for a four-year-old. He hadn’t known that she had seen any of the movie, but now this explained quite a bit.

“He was walkin’ around in the dark, daddy!” she continued, “If I sleep in the dark, he’ll get me!”

“Oh love,” Harry sighed, “nothing is going to get you, I promise. The monster you saw on the movie wasn’t real. He was just pretend. You don’t have to be scared.”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m positive. Daddy would never let anything get you, I promise. You’re perfectly safe in your bed.”

She still seemed a bit hesitant, but she wasn’t holding on quite as tightly to his neck anymore.

“What do you think? You think you can try sleepin’ in here by yourself tonight like a big girl?”

She paused a moment, but then nodded slowly. Harry exhaled and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

“That’s my good girl.”

He waited for her to slide off of his lap and back to her pillow before he started pulling the blankets up around her.

“Daddy, can you make sure to tuck me in really, really tight?”

“Of course I can.”

He tucked the blanket around her body as snug as he possibly could before leaning down to give her a kiss goodnight.

“I’ll turn your night light on, okay? And if you get scared, mummy and daddy are just down the hall.”

“Okay…”

“You’ll be just fine,” he assured her, kissing her once more, “I love you, monkey.”

“Love you too, daddy.”

She looked a little worried as he left the room, but when Harry went back to check on her about an hour later, he was thrilled to see that she was fast asleep without a care in the world.

Undertaker and Sebastian

Something that I’ve noticed recently, especially after the release of the Book of the Atlantic movie is that people assume that Undertaker and Sebastian are mortal enemies.  Which, fair enough, seems like it could be true.  But I’d like to offer a different analysis of their relationship to one another.

There is no doubt that Sebastian despises Undertaker.  He came very close to killing him in the Campania arc, and he’s caused him quite a bit of trouble since then.  And that’s a fair reaction considering Sebastian is an overly proud demon who doesn’t appreciate being put in his place.

But something I’ve always found interesting is this panel in the Demon 6 extra:

Sebastian has a look of absolute disdain on his face, but Undertaker looks perfectly calm and amused by comparison.  And I know this is an extra chapter that technically doesn’t fit in with the rest of the story, but that doesn’t mean that characterization has been completely thrown out the window.  It’s the opposite, in fact.

Because something else that gets lost in translation is that during the Weston arc, during Undertaker’s big reveal he calls Sebastian ‘Butler-kun’.  This is another thing that isn’t really translatable because ‘kun’ can be used in a variety of different ways, from the familiar to the slightly sarcastic.  And while I do feel like it was being used sarcastically in context, you could also interpret it as Undertaker addressing someone who is his subordinate.  Or in other words, someone he has ‘tasked’ with a job.

That job being keeping Ciel out of harm’s way, as it’s further explained.

So while I definitely think there’s no love between the two, Undertaker also doesn’t seem to hate Sebastian as much as say, William does.  It’s probably partly due to the fact that he isn’t actively working as a reaper anymore, partly due to Sebastian being an effective bodyguard no matter what he is, and perhaps… a tiny bit to do with the fact that Sebastian made him laugh in the Jack the Ripper arc.  But personally, I don’t think that Undertaker views Sebastian as ‘the enemy’ as other fans seem to.  Or at least, he isn’t the ultimate enemy that they’re all facing and is instead a minor nuisance that he can tolerate as long as he has Sebastion brought to heel.

lostuntothisworld  asked:

a while back you recommended the movie Autopsy of Jane Doe and it was fantastic! Do you have any more horror movie recs that are psychological like that (with minimal jump scares preferably?)

omg yesssssssss, i sure as heck do. i looooooove recommending horror movies. kay, here we go, pychological, disturbing, and minimal jump scares:

1. Get Out (2017) - this is a newer movie, and I’m sure you’ve heard about it (and maybe even seen it already). I finally got to see it in theaters and it was marvelous. Very tense horror, minimal jump scares. Definitely recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet.

2. The Thing (1982) - this is probably my favorite horror movie, and one I will always, always recommend to people. It’s more sci-fi/horror, but horror none the less. This is a movie that feeds on uncertainty and tension, fueled by distrust and paranoia between the characters. (There was also a prequel to this movie made in 2011, and I certainly enjoyed that one as well, but it still couldn’t quite deliver the same chills and fear the 1982 version did.)

3. They Look Like People (2015) - this is another one that I just watched recently. Probably one of the best that fits the category of psychological horror. It’s a bit slow to start, but develops into a story that will leave you tense, unsure, and unsettled. Plus, it’s probably the only horror movie I have ever seen that manages to highlight mental illness without demonizing it.

4. As Above So Below (2014) - this is a movie that honestly, I was very skeptical about seeing. It’s a found footage movie (which I typically hate), and it got very poor reviews, but I wound up watching it on a whim one day and found myself enjoying it a lot more than I expected. It honestly is more of a adventure/horror film rather than a strict horror film - and the reviews might have been better, I think, if its marketing hadn’t painted it as a strict horror film. There are a few jump scares in there, but not a whole lot. Much the movie relies on claustrophobia, confusion, and mystery. It’s really an interesting look at a journey into hell. I greatly enjoy it, though your mileage may vary.

5. Event Horizon (1997) - another sci-fi/horror film. A nightmarish movie about salvage/rescue crew that goes out to salvage a ship that vanished on its maiden voyage and reappeared 7 years later missing its entire crew. This movie deals well in suspense, fear, and our ultimate terror of what evils could lie beyond the unknown.

6. The Descent (2005) - yet another movie I recommend to everyone. Set underground in an unknown cave system, and led by an all female cast, this movie is just full of anxiety, paranoia, claustrophobia, and unease. It’ll certainly make you never want to go caving.

7. The Strangers (2008) - a great take on the classic home invasion/slasher film. It boasts a really creepy atmosphere, an isolated setting, and has moments of genuine, realistic anxiety and terror (even the small things, like trying to find somewhere to hide and realizing you can’t fit, etc…) I saw this movie with my best friend back when it first came out, and it’s still one of my favorites.

8. The Others (2001) - this is not your typical ghost story. Honestly this one is hard to describe because I don’t want to give too much away about the plot. In the last few days of World War II, a woman and her two children wait in isolation, after the mysterious disappearance of their servants, for her husband/their father to return from the war. It’s only in the isolation of the house that they begin to realize the house might not be as empty as they thought it was. Very, very unique take on a ghost story. The case is wonderful, and the pacing and setting of this movie creates wonderfully creepy, unsettling fear.

9. The Witch (2016) - slow-burn horror and very setting specific, this one’s focus is on religious fear and the sexual stigmatization of girls and women. It’s slow-paced, but really great at building up a sense of unease and dread, and even the small things in it, like small rabbits in the wild, can make you feel unsettled.

10. Black Swan (2010) - not strictly a horror movie, this one is heavily psychological, and I almost want to cast it as a thriller more than anything, but some of it truly does fall into the realm of psychological horror. Paranoia, obsession, and tension, this movie is chock-full of it.

11. Funny Games (2007) - this one is actually a remake of a 1997 movie of the same name. I feel kind of bad, but I actually haven’t seen the original, but from what I hear, the two movies don’t differ much. This one is particularly unsettling because of its constant underlying feeling of authenticity. Much like The Strangers, this feels real, like it could happen to anyone, like its psychopaths could be anybody, any well-to-do strangers. It’s a long, sometimes unbearably frustrating game of physical and psychological torture; and the few moments of well-timed 4th wall breaking really up the frustration and distress.

12. 1408 (2007) - based on a Stephen King story, this film heavily relies on psychological and anxiety-building elements to create its tension. Every thing that happens in this room makes you question what it will do next, what trick will it pull, what hopes will it dash. There’s not much else to say about this one exept that… “It’s an evil fucking room.”

13. El Orfanato/The Orphanage (2007) - man this one is definitely a favorite of mine. Very unnerving and deeply emotional at the same time, this one is a very well-crafted and clever take on the haunted house/orphanage trope. It’s spooky, chilling, has some moments that will genuinely crawl under your skin (the 1-2-3 toca la pared scene always does it for me…), and features a wildly emotional ending.

14. The Babadook (2014) - this one doesn’t rely on cheap scares at all, but still features some truly creepy and unnerving moments that left me on edge. But in addition to that, this movie is about so much more than a boogeyman lurking in the shadows. Heavily psychological, this movie delves deeply into how we process loss and deal with all-consuming grief.

15. 28 Days Later (2002) - I probably don’t need to say much about this one. It’s a movie that most people have either seen or have at least heard of. But there’s a reason it’s consistently named one of the best zombie movies around. It deals with not only the horror of the zombies (and they certainly make that aspect scary on its own), but also the darkest aspects of the fall of society. We’re given a frighteningly grim look at the degradation of humanity and the darkest aspects of human nature as society falls apart.

15 seems like enough! And hopefully you’ll like some of those!! :D

(also, for those reading this, please watch Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016) cause it’s amazing)

Might be rebuilding/refurbishing an old beater sword of mine and making a Wonder Woman sword. With the shortened blade and longer hilt it will have proportions similar to the Godkiller sword from the movie. Functionally it would be something like a euro version of a wakizashi–a short sword with a hilt that can accommodate a two-handed grip. I’m not quite sure what the point of balance will be, but I’m excited to experiment with it.

I’ll probably modernize the construction a bit and once the pommel is put in place I might weld it rather than peening or using a hex nut.

Stay tuned!

Anime/Manga Shoutouts

Mob Psycho 100 - Very nice animation, likable and somewhat down to Earth protagonist, interesting characters all around. The protagonist reminds me a bit of Haruka from Free! and Kuroko. Fun fact: This is made by the creator of One Punch Man. Shoutout to the animation in the opening. Definitely should have won an award. 12 episodes. Hoping for a sequel anime. It has an ongoing manga but..the art for that…isn’t the best…Yeah. I personally find it hard to read because of the art alone. Everything else is fine. But those shaky lines….I wish the fanbase was bigger :/

Pandora Hearts - Great story telling, all of the plot twists will blow your mind, very nice artwork, an emotion experience that made me cry many times, especially during the finale (and not just because it was ending). Will forever recommend to anyone and everyone. Similar to Black Butler. It has 104 chapters and finished in March 2015. Has an anime adaptation, but it ends in filler, doesn’t cover a lot of the bigger twists later on and is quite old at this point.

AKB0048- Think Love Live but more dramatic, in space, battle lolis and with more plot. It’s quite similar to Pretty Rhythm in how there is an plot, the main characters have emotional distress for good reasons plus switches to 3D animation aren’t that jarring.

The Monogatari Series- My current craze. Definitely not for anime newcomers. Follows and deconstructs the harem anime elements at the same time. The harem is very subtle. Excellent character development (Shoutout to Senjougahara), great visuals (SPECIAL shoutout to Kizumonogatari. Holy hell, the quality is almost too HD for my eyes), interesting story arcs and great characters (10/10 lolis). Has quite a bit of talking, so if you enjoy action 24/7 like shounen, this is not the series for you. The timeline can get quite confusing, but its best just to watch the seasons in airing order. This is SHAFT’s passion project, so prepare for some mind screwy visuals at points. Has some very Japanese puns and wordplay. Quite a bit of gore occasionally. The main character has had his asskicked by almost every girl in that image above and more.

From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori)- This anime is…an experience. This is that one hidden gem. It has various psychological elements that are very well done and leave a sense of eeriness and mystery throughout. Oh, and prepare to question your own morality and humanity afterwards. Basically, humans have evolved to the point of having mind powers like being able to move things with their minds and lighting them on fire with a thought. The main character has just come of age for her powers and in placed in a class to learn more about them/how to control them/learning in general. However, she experiences things that make her question the present and past of her people and humanity that her village has kept secret. But the truth is much darker and morbid than expected. This anime follows the characters from 12 years old to about 26 years old. A very good 25 episodes. Do not take this series lightly.

Kyokai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary)- One of my top anime of all time and one of the only ones I will always be okay with rewatching. Great story telling, beautiful art and animation (bless kyoani), interesting characters (mostly) and a good balance of light hearted stuff and emotional backstory/plot. There’s a romantic subplot-ish, but its kinda like plot with romantic overtones? idk how to describe it exactly. Has 12 episodes and one movie sequel that everyone should absolutely see and watch the scene after the credits.

Durarara- I could watch it again. VERY big and diverse cast of characters. It’s very easy to lose track of who’s who in the first few episodes. All of them are interesting and have some depth, though. There’s not really a definite main character for this, honestly. The perspective switches quite a bit. Very good story arcs and characters (and development). The animation can get a big dodgy at times, but for the most part, it’s alright. Definitely gets an upgrade in the sequels. This might just be the example of Supernatural Things in Daily Life genre. Plus gangs. Has a second season that’s broken into cours: Duarara!!X2 Sho/Ten/Ketsu. Has a sequel as a light novel series only (Durarara!! SH). Shoutout to Mikado for having the most badass protagonist character development I’ve seen in a long while.

Tickle House: The Rooms

A fantasy heard quite a bit by many community members is the idea of all of us staying in a house together. It would be like a giant sleepover, filled with cuddling and movies and food and friendship and tickles!!

Now this is a concept that my lee brain just thought of.

Obviously there would be a constant rivalry between the lees and the lers. And an idea I really like is a Lee Room and a Ler Room.

So there’s a room just for all the lees, and they get a chance to hide from lers and be together without the constant fear of tickling!!

And then the ler room is most likely a place for plotting and evilness (I wouldn’t know I don’t belong there I’m a small lee baby hahahahahahahahaha)

But I think the best thing about it is the constant threats.

Imagine all the lees chilling in their room, when a note slides under the door. With an ominous message saying something like, “Send out a chosen lee in the next 3 minutes. If no one comes, we attack.” LIKE LITTLE STUFF LIKE THAT WOULD BE SO GREAT.

Or if a poor lee happens to be walking by the ler door and all of a sudden they are pulled inside the room and they are in a VERY DANGEROUS ZONE and all the other lees hear them screaming and laughing and they must decide to either attack and risk it or stay safe and let their friend suffer.

And this would just be the cutest idea to me this needs to happen okay okay.

Birthday surprise and Hope - Old Man Logan x Reader

Well first, thanks :-). And second, here’s your request (I’m using the movie version of Old Man Logan), might be a bit long, and again, I feel like I could have written something better, that maybe I didn’t write quite what you were expecting anon’ but…Yeah, that’s all I got right now. Hope you’ll like it anyway (don’t hesitate to drop a message to tell me so)

_____________________________________________________________________

Before the world all went to shit, before you lost all of your friends but Logan and Charles, before you had to run away to stay safe…you were doing some research about your boyfriend’s past. About where Logan actually came from.

The only information you had was that his real name is “James Howlett”, and that he was born somewhere in Canada, probably in Alberta. Which wasn’t really much. You didn’t even had an estimate of the year he was born in, his healing factor making it impossible to guess his age…The research weren’t easy.

But, finally, right before Charles had his massive seizure that killed most of the X-men a year ago, you had a lead. You found his birth date, and the place he supposedly grew up in. Everything fitted perfectly, there was no doubt that you found the right date and place…but you never got the occasion to take him to Canada and show him your findings, because of what happened that dreadful day in Westchester county…After the death of almost all of your friends, Logan, Charles and you fled the school, and since then,  you just kept on the move almost all the time.

Caliban joined in pretty early on, and you finally settled down at the US border near Mexico. Your idea of taking him to his birth place and all, forever buried away…Until she arrived.

Laura. His daughter. He could say whatever he wanted about it, but you considered her his. She looked like him, she was “made” with his DNA, and was born naturally with the help of a Mexican girl that birthed her…She was his daughter, no questions asked. And from the moment she entered your life, everything moved faster than ever.

You guys lost Caliban. But you didn’t even have time to mourn him, running from Transigen, trying to be as far as them as you could.

Charles had another dangerous seizure, Logan refused to speak to the kid, who obviously wanted nothing more but to bond with her father, you were tired of all this pain and misery…life wasn’t really the greatest.

Also one of the reasons it seems likely to me that most antis are young despite not actually having demographic data is that I remember shocking media, and how it always seemed we got used to it over time with no serious repercussions.

When I was a kid, Judas Priest was supposedly so satanic that when people claimed their music had driven two innocent teen boys to suicide (one didn’t die in the attempt but did, quite literally, blow off the lower half of his face), a lot of people believed it. Now, Priest is considered classic metal, and most people like it.

When I was a little older (I think), gangsta rap was supposedly inspiring young people to horrifying violence and disrespect for women. Now, that music is seen, for all its flaws, as important political art made by young black men in disadvantaged communities, and we all flock to movies about the people who made it.

When I was a bit older, Nine Inch Nails. Pigs and bondage gear and screamy sounds and even a fake snuff film, if you were a dedicated enough fan to hunt it down. (I was and did.) Is anyone scared of Mr. Reznor now, really?

Marilyn Manson. Eminem. The list goes on and on and on. Every generation has its artist like this, someone who polevaults over the standards of propriety and gets notoriety for it–and, in many cases, who is ALSO talented enough to be remembered even after the shock dies down.

That’s how both art and pop culture WORK.

The reason that when I see an anti I expect them to be a minor or at least a young adult is because that’s how young someone has to be to have not lived through at least one cycle of this and gone “waiiit, five years after that, humanity hadn’t changed much.”
