i like this parallel a lot

I suppose I owe you a ‘thank you’ for getting me out of the lab every now and then.
Well now, we have husbands and kids.
But that doesn’t make our relationship any less important.

Sometimes I see some comments from the karamel fandom and honestly it seems like you do not give a shit about Kara , just think Chris Wood is hot . and thats  enough for him to stay with Kara.
I like the parallel Karamel with Makorra, why? Because as friends both are incredible, they help and take care of each other ,when they become a romantic couple simply doesnt work . It is not a healthy relationship, far from it.
The worst thing is not to CW reproduce this as okay, the worst is to see a lot of teenager who thinks this kind of problematic / toxic relationship is beautiful.

And I not say that for being Supercorp, I say for being a woman and seeing strong and important female characters like Kara Danvers being destroyed for the good of a man, straight, pampered white character.

And the big difference between supercorp and karamel , is the fact that Lena treats Kara much better than Mon-el. Lena trusts and respects Kara, just see her reaction when Kara forgot the“date”with her and Mon-el’s being fucking jealous just because Kara talked to Mr Mxyzptlk .

Monel seems to like Kara but he treat her like she belongs to him ,he has no respect for what she wants and that is fucked up. This reminds me a little bit of Killgrave and Jessica Jones, which is not good because here, different of  Jessica Jones, the treatment Monel gives to Kara is Applauded.

so re: bending AU. In the show, the first chi blocker we meet is Ty Lee, who was in the circus at the time. It kinda makes me wonder if the circus has, like, a Chi-Blocking culture? Like do you think Dick, even tho he's a bender, might have learned Chi Blocking in the circus? (side note: do you think Bruce would make all his kids learn chi-blocking even tho they're benders?)

Hmm very interesting parallel. I’ve always imagined the main chi-blocker of the family is Cassandra but everyone else knows and is aware of it with varying degrees of success. Bruce would be really good and he relies on it a lot but he doesn’t have Cass’s natural skill and grace. Dick is ok but doesn’t use it all that much, Jay uses it when he has to but he’s very clumsy with it, Tim is pretty good and uses it a lot with good and bad results, Damian is still learning and Steph is a mess with it and usually punches the person out by accident

I love your clois/supercorp parallels. Thanks for making them! I thought I'd ask since Ive only seen the first few seasons of Smallville. Do you see more parallels between Clois and Supercorp, or Lex/Clark and Lena/Kara? I see them both, but wanted to get your opinion. Thanks.

thank you, i enjoy making them! oooooh, this is an interesting question. i’ve actually made this clark/lex parallel awhile back. and like you, i see A LOT of parallels there too. i think that my clark/lex, clark/lois parallels just goes to show that SG can really go either way with the way they’re writing supercorp rn. they can so easily take either of the two clichéd paths: the clark/lex path, “best-friend-turned-arch-nemesis” or they can go the clark/lois path, “best-friend-turned-lover” (which would be absolutely groundbreaking but i doubt it)

idk if this made sense but yea…….

Skating aside, he’s not good at putting himself out there.

He was arrogant about his abilities since no one in his age group rivaled him.

Some Warrior cats fan art. Inspired by the @warriorsredux ’s series. I like the realistic reimagining! They parallel with a lot of my own head cannons. Though I took a little creative liberty here because I just can’t imagine gentle Spottedleaf without some white on her XD.

Based on the prologue when Spottedleaf and Bluestar are looking for answers. I also put a shooting star reflected in there eyes, as a nod to the original series when Spottedleaf interprets a shooting star as the “Fire alone will save our clan” prophecy from Starclan.

I think I finally figured out why America feels like it’s slipped into a bizarre, dystopian parallel version of itself

It’s not the apparent blossoming of racism and antisemitism, nor the ableism, nor the misogyny that allowed Donald Trump to get elected (because those forces have always been there in American culture).

It’s that the Republican Party chose, backed, supported, and is now normalizing a leader who (according to both the CIA and the FBI) has been helped into power by a former high level agent of the effing KGB.

I realize that a lot of my followers on Tumblr are too young to remember (or weren’t even born yet). But for those of us who lived through the terror of the U.S./Soviet nuclear arms race, that simple fact is just…

It makes Lewis Carrol’s through-the-looking-glass land seem downright sober and ordinary in comparison.

the Pines family (including Soos&Wendy) with by flowers that represent them!! haha, this piece took me forever to finish, but i’m really happy with how it came out!!

and if anyone’s wondering how i chose the flowers, they were all suggestions that i took from people here on tumblr. so any patterns you notice in the flower arrangements is a complete coincidence. but it ended up creating interesting parallels, like Dipper and Ford both having predominantly purple/white flowers, Stan and Mabel both having really colorful flowers and Soos and Wendy both having a lot of yellow/orange flowers.

also notice, each character is interacting with at least one of the flowers. Mabel and Dipper are both holding one (with Dipper having an extra flower crown), Stan and Ford both are holding it indirectly, with Stan pinning it to his suit and Ford using his as a bookmark, and Soos and Wendy both have one tucked behind their ears.

(if you’re curious as to what flowers i used for each character, they’re listed on each piece!! just click the images)

(don’t tag ships, please!!)

So, here’s a theory that I’ve seen thrown around that I think makes a lot of sense when you think about it. It goes a little something like this:

Both “Zuko Alone,” and “The Firebending Masters” show us Zuko being very bad at firebending. As Zuko mentions in the latter episode, this is likely due to him not relying on anger and hatred for his firebending anymore.

Using this logic, and given what Zuko was like prior to his banishment, it could be possible that the reason Zuko was unable to firebend well, or match his sister’s skill when he was a child is because he was unable to use the sort of anger-fueled firebending that marked Sozin’s era.

as all my jewish followers and friends know, we have a holiday coming up! the featival of purim is this sunday. purim celebrates hidden miracles and hidden beauty and hidden saviours. there’s a lot of hiding. that’s why we dress up!

i’m aware that the vast majority of gentiles and a lot of jews don’t fully know the story of purim, which is recorded in the scroll of esther, or megillat esther. the megillah’s my favourite story, and has so many amazing midrashim (bit like rabbinical fanfiction) that i study year round. this story, which is the story of how a young jewish woman saved our people from a genocide, has a lot of parallels with our current political situation in the u.s., so i thought now would be a great time to tell the story!

Yuri on Ice: Why a Kiss Didn’t Happen in Episode 12 (SPOILERS)

I was dissatisfied and a little bit disappointed with the ending of the series at first. However, the more I think about it in retrospect, the more I come to love it.

A good example of this is  the silver medal, almost-not-quite-kiss scene in the final minutes of the episode. Lots of people were expecting a kiss in that moment. I was practically yelling at the screen for it to happen. But, despite our expectations, it didn’t.

The biggest negative of the scene is the fact that the romantic tension between Yuuri and Victor wasn’t resolved. Literally everything seemed to be building up to a more satisfying conclusion on that front. The last episode parallels episode 7 at so many parts, but it doesn’t include the kiss or any of the romantic resolution that comes with it. It was honestly really underwhelming to me when I watched it, and I’m sure most people share that sentiment. Many expected an open acknowledgement of Yuuri and Victor’s relationship as romantic in general, but that never really came either. However, the lack of a kiss works for the narrative as a whole.

As I thought of reasons why the kiss didn’t happen though, I slowly became more accepting of it.  At the end of episode 7, Victor only kisses Yuuri after the conflict between them has already been resolved. A few scenes before that moment, Victor’s offer to kiss Yuuri is rejected because it doesn’t help or solve the emotional conflict still going on between them. It’s not a viable solution.

Similarly, in episode 12′s almost-kiss scene,  the conflict between them still isn’t over. Just as Victor offers to kiss Yuuri in episode 7 expecting it to magically solve Yuuri’s problems, Victor kind of expects Yuuri to kiss him and solve all of his own in episode 12.

Yuuri in episode 7 and Victor in episode 12 both feel like the other doesn’t need them, albeit in two different forms. Episode 12 Victor really wants to support Yuuri in whatever he chooses, but he feels hurt by the implication that Yuuri doesn’t want to be with him anymore. Yuuri is oblivious to that fact, and feels that letting Victor go back to skating is what is best for him, which creates a giant misunderstanding that threatens to tear their relationship apart.

In the silver medal scene, Yuuri solves the conflict in the best way possible by confronting it directly. He tells Victor that he still wants him to be his coach, reassuring Victor that he needs him. More poetically, Yuuri tells Victor that he still wants him to stay by his side, which is exemplified in the following pair skate. He actually resolves the conflict and closes the gap between their perspectives in a way that something like a kiss wouldn’t. It’s a really great parallel to episode 7 and a great nod to episode 10, and it works really well in context as one of the final moments of the show.

I still wanted to see a kiss though tbh

Okay, I know everybody is into Eyewitness cause of the Gay™, but can we talk about the fucking stellar supporting cast though?

Like there is not a single character on this show that I don’t care or am interested in. I’m especially interested in the family dynamics and parallels. Like the role reversal of the “bad mom” and “good dad” where we have an AMAZINGLY emotionally stable and caring kind father(s) (We haven’t actually seen a lot of Lukas’ Dad, we mostly just see how Lukas thinks of him, and that my friends, is called unreliable narrator) And now with the parallels with Helen, Anne (Philip’s mother), Sita, and now Camilla. You have a show with 4 female leads, none of which support the Perfect Homemaker Archtype/Stereotype BUT  who are still shown as being capable of those capacities and on their own terms. Like they tore down those ideas of what women with children should BE like, and let the characters, as complex individuals, define it for themselves. And I just…

Like the cinematography is just GODawful (IT. DOESN’T. NEED. TO. BE. DESATURATED. THE. WHOLE. DAMN. TIME. YOU DEFEAT THE EFFICACY OF SUCH AN EFFECT IF IT’S ALL ONE TONE) but the show 10/10 makes up for it with the amazing writing and the amazing characters.
