ok, i’ll be the first person to admit that i was attracted to seventeen because of their bright, upbeat, and boyish concepts - a concept that ‘don’t wanna cry’ has clearly deviated from.
i honestly had some trepidation regarding this comeback, because while i love these 13 boys to death i don’t want to blindly like something just because it’s seventeen.
once again, ‘don’t want to cry’ is incredibly different from all their previous title tracks. with an emotional edm background, impassioned lyrics, and contemporary-esque choreography, it’s a leap from the “funky pop song with fun and fresh lyrics” (bless adore u woozi) that i previously associated with seventeen.
and i fucking loved it.
yes, it may not be to everyone’s tastes, and part of me will always miss and wish for more happy and colourful comebacks in the future (*plays their happiness dance cover a hundred times over*), but the fact that seventeen is branching out, developing their own unique sound, and growing both as individuals and as a whole…
…dammit, how can you not cry, honestly.
(forgive the corny ending, i couldn’t help myself)
