i like plants more than people

Mystery photo!  This has been labeled as 1976 at a party for the Faces, but they broke up in 1975.  I’ve also heard it’s 1975, but I cannot figure out where.  While there was a big party for the Faces in 75 (w/ a bunch of famous music people), it would have been in late August more than likely so I don’t think Robert would be there.  Also, the guy between Bonzo and Jimmy - who is that?  Jeff Beck, maybe?  I may be wildly off - I’m no Beck expert.  If anyone has ideas, please let me know.  It’s driving me crazy lol!  Thanks!

Rick and Morty’s Stutters

So I’ve noticed in a lot of Rick and Morty fan comics and fanfictions (not that there’s a lot of) that people try to incorporate Rick and Morty’s stuttering, which I absolutely love as a person who stutters and went to speech therapy for several years. However, I often times see people just making them stutter on random words, or have them stutter on literally every word, which is not how stuttering works at all. To help everyone out, here’s a quick guide on Rick and Morty’s stuttering that I complied while watching some episodes.

Morty’s Stuttering:

Morty tends to stutter more at the beginning of sentences, and at certain conjunctions (connector words that attach two sentences together - think “and”). His stuttering seems to get worse when he is under pressure, overcome by emotion, or when he’s thinking fast.

He mostly seems to stutter on:

  • the T/Th sound, when followed by an “a” or “e”
  • the J sound, when starting a rushed sentence or saying the word “just”
  • the B sound, mainly when saying the “buh” sound or the word “but”
  • the D sound, mainly when saying the “duh”  or “di” sound
  • the Y sound, usually when saying the word “you”
  • the I, as in the word “I” or “I’m” or on the word “it”
  • the W sound, usually on question words (”Who/What/Where/When”) especially when he’s rushed, or the word “we”
  • the H sound, when starting a question (think the word“how”?)
  • the L sound, at the start of sentences and when followed by “e”

Morty will also say the same words twice in the same sentence when he’s stuttering, because he either is talking too fast and couldn’t get all the words out smoothly or because he stuttered while saying it. A lot of people that stutter do this. An example would be:

“Aw, geez, Rick! Did - did you really have to shoot that alien in front of everyone?”

See? The repeated word was “did”. Here’s an example of him stuttering and repeating some words:

“Aw, geez, Rick! Did - did you really have to shoot that alien in front of everyone? J-Jessica will never talk to me again! Th-that’s it! You’ve gone too far!”

He also uses “Rick” often times as a “crutch” word, or a word he repeats a lot unknowingly when talking. People who don’t stutter even have crutch words as well, so this is not really related to his stuttering but more to his speech pattern. He usually only repeats his crutch word when talking to or about Rick, which Rick then does in vice versa with Morty’s name.

Rick’s Stuttering:

Rick seems to stutter more in the beginning of sentences, in the middle, and when he’s drunk. It gets worse when he’s burping, trying to talk his way out of something, or when he’s angry.

He mostly stutters on:

  • the Y sound, or more specifically the word “you”
  • the Sh sound, especially when he’s drunk and when its followed by “e”
  • the I sound, especially on “I”, “I’ll”, or “it’s”
  • the Th sound, followed by “a” or “e”
  • the D sound, mainly when saying the “duh”  or “di” sound
  • the W sound, on question words or the word “we”
  • the H sound, on the word “how”
  • the C sound, on words like “can”
  • the M sound, mostly when he’s drunk

He will also repeat his words a lot too, and does so a lot more when he burps in the middle of them. Like I said earlier, he often uses Morty’s name as a crutch word, especially when talking to him, and he will stutter usually while saying it. An example of Rick talking would be:

“Y-you know what, Morty? Maybe I had a reason to shoot that alien! Sh-she was a parasite alien, Morty!, and was going to plant eggs in everybody at y-your school!”

However, I didn’t make him stutter on all of the words/letters/sounds he has trouble with. People who stutter can often times correctly say their trouble words with no problem, if they think about it or if it’s just by chance. I wrote Morty’s sentences like this too, seeing as he doesn’t always stutter on his trouble words either. Also, stuttering usually doesn’t happen more than once or twice in a sentence.

Example conversation with Rick and Morty stuttering:

“Aw, geez, Rick! Did - did you really have to shoot that alien in front of everyone? J-Jessica will never talk to me again! Th-that’s it! You’ve gone too far!”

“Y-you know what, Morty? Maybe I had a reason to shoot that alien! Sh-she was a parasite alien, Morty!, and was going to plant eggs in everybody at y-your school!”

“I don’t care, Rick! That was one my shot with Jessica! I’m - I’m never talking to you again!”

“Aw, c’mon, Morty! You- you can’t be serious! Th-this’ll all blow over in a week.”

“I-I’m serious, Rick! You’re - you’re such a dick!”

“Fine, you little asshole! We’ll see what happens next time you’re in trouble! I-I won’t help you at all!”

Well, that’s about it for this post. Feel free to add anything or make corrections! I may later edit in some of Rick and Morty’s trouble word/sounds I missed earlier. If you have any questions, shoot me as ask.

Just so you know, you matter a lot

[submission] I’m an animal person. Well, mammals specifically. Worked with them for years and never really *got* keeping reptiles, but I didn’t knock it. I live in one of those big apartment complexes with indoor hallways, and about a week and a half ago I was just chilling, minding my own business. I got up to grab a snack… 15 minutes into netflix and chill I walked by my foyer and a random noodle gave me this look

I….was…a bit taken aback. Reptiles aren’t my thing but I surmised he was A) not venomous and B) probably not from the united states east cost.

I discovered he was scared but not aggressive and I figured he’d escaped from someone, and since I knew snakes needed to be kept warm I put him in my bra and went to knock on some doors. Nobody knew anything about him and eventually I went back, and looked up reptile rescue centers and the closest one was a hundred miles away. This was on a Sunday and I wouldn’t be able to get him there till Saturday, and I couldn’t just keep him in my bra for a week. I did a google search and came up with your normal rubbermaid and paper towel setup and…it seemed…idk. Reptile person I wasn’t, animal person I WAS and I decided to browse the tungle to see what I could see.

I found your blog.

I learned he had stuck shed like crazy, and that there was much more to keeping a snake than $20 worth of stuff from target. I also figured if I was going to shell out to give a temporary home…well…I’d just make it his permanent one. I didn’t have the chance to scour your blog as much as I wanted, since I felt bad for keeping him where he was for so long, but I went to the pet store and set up this

(it’s heated from underneath and 2 temp and humidity monitored) it’s not exactly what I want it to be, but I did what I could with what I had and since then I’ve made a few modifications (bigger water bowl for a start)

I’ve been all over your blog and your frustration with the people who claim ball pythons are completely sedentary are starting to anger me too, because from what I learned and what I can tell this dude is doing a lot better.

The fact that there are people who just their snakes nearly immobile and tucked away astounds me.

(ignore old tape, tank was sanitized and salvaged from apartment recycling room)

He climbs. Sometimes when I stay up I’ll take a peek at his tank and he’ll be all over his bamboo pole or plants or on his hide.

He choses places to chill other than his hides (that’s a super low powered heat lamp I used to warm up my budgie for spray baths; wondered if he’d like some ‘sun’ on his scales)

He has, thus far, been nothing but an enthusiastic eater.

I went from seeing people collect reptiles like trading cards and thinking that was all there was to it, to being absolutely fascinated by this chill little noodle and loving to see what he’s up to . I went from complete ambivalence to becoming more and more passionate about proper reptile husbandry.

You don’t have to post this, I just want you to know that for every asshole who should probably stick to those morimo moss balls, you inspire another person to learn everything she can about properly caring for these guys, enriching and monitoring their environment, and trying to make sure they are as healthy and happy as possible.

You ARE making a difference.

I really dont have any words that describe how i feel, but this is one of the sweetest things anyone has ever sent me. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Native Superheroes and Avoiding Stereotypical Roles

@wordsmithkg asked:

Sorry to bother you guys, this is a bit of a weird one, but if I’m writing something and part of it features a group of Native American (specifically Navajo) superheroes, are there powers I should avoid for cliché/stereotyping reasons, or that would feel disrespectful? For example, I can’t help but feel geokinesis would be too much of a literal manifestation of the “closer to earth” stereotype. I unfortunately don’t know any Navajo, but I did find an online community I plan to ask as well

Animal. Powers. If I see one more Native shapeshifter and/or animal speaker, I feel like I’m going to scream. Trackers, too. Plant manipulators. Spiritual mediums. Archers with superhuman aim.

Basically, look up Magical Native American and if it shows up on that list, avoid unless you manage to justify it in-universe with something other than “Natives have x”.

Geokenisis sounds fun! The thing I like about it is it sounds modern. A lot of the icky part about Natives with powers is people assuming that the powers are “ancient” and therefore detached from modern society. They rely more than they would like to admit on Noble Savage, so if you break that with either modern sounding powers and/or non-nature based things, you’re good.

The main thing about Native powers I’ve found is they rely on sixth sense/otherworldly connection, instead of having anything that’s a pseudoscientific explanation. So if you had “felt the earth’s natural heat rising and falling”, that would be one thing, but if you had “telepathic abilities focusing on dense objects such as stone or metal”, that’s another. The former is flirting with Magical Native, the latter sounds like a superhero power.

Give it the same BS explanation that non-Native superheroes get. If you’re just going for “oh, they’re more ~*in tune*~” then I would have problems, but if you’re going with something that is at least trying to sound scientific, you’re much safer. Even something just like “genetic mutation allows for x” is cool.
The problems with tropes like Magical Native American or even Magical Nergo is the principle tends to stop at “because they are this ethnicity, they have these powers.” Meanwhile, if the reasoning is built into the character— ie- Black Panther has powers because he is king of Wakanda, and therefore has access to a plant that enhances ability to the point of a supersoldier— then you’re avoiding the heart of the trope which is that some skin colours just inherently have magic.

So, make it pseudoscientific, and try to avoid “spiritual” based stuff. Then, you’re good.

touken’s wedding night headcanons ((mini-fic)) 💖💍

i’ve said on my twitter (you should follow me there as well! 👀 ) that i was going to write a fic about their wedding night, but the truth is that the plot itself is extremely generic, the structure of the fic feels too weak for me to get inspired and start writing, so i decided to write down some of the headcanons that i have for it instead, this could be considered as part of my mini-fics series (read those here!), but in the end this is just a list of all the headcanons for their special night… although at the end i got a bit carried away and it ended up looking like a fanfic 😂 so i don’t know anymore…  enjoy!! ///

“I know,” he whispers, quieting her with a kiss. “I know.”

They stay silent for a while, kissing on the lips, kissing each other’s hands, cuddling until Touka feels her body slowly falling into slumber. She’s not quite asleep yet, she can still hear Kaneki’s words whispering “I love you” to her, firmly and desperate, he wants her to hear him. And she does.

She does.

I really hate it when people try to plant doubt into trans folks’ minds (especially young trans folks) for stuff like surgery and hrt by saying things like “you need to be 100% sure here, NO hesitation” and “this is too sudden a decision, you need to think it over more."

Because like, 1) duh. But 2) these are never spur of the moment decisions. Trans people DO think this over. A LOT. And I guarantee we have thought about this way more and know way more about this stuff than any intrusive cis person who thinks they get an opinion on trans bodies.

Plus, I feel like the only reason anyone says things like that is to make sure the trans person DOES feel doubtful of their decisions. But hey, guess what, trans bodies are not public property!! You don’t get any say in what we do with our bodies!!! Stop trying to lowkey have control over trans folks. Stop making people feel uncomfortable about their own decisions.

Trans folks are already accustomed to feeling self doubt about our identities, so I promise that you really, truly do not have to worry about us being hesitant, especially for these big decisions. You’re not helping by offering unwarranted opinions.

I love the way that people who work with plants talk about herbs. They speak about them as if they are their ex lovers and favorite musicians that like pulled them out of a 5 year coma when their music was playing. They will say things like Valerian is a mysterious soul and Raspberry Leaf seems intimidating but you need to get to know it first and Mugwort is underrated but has saved me and is an inspiration. They will say things like “Plants are our allies” but after speaking to them for five minutes you know plants to them are more than just allies, they are sentient people, their muses, their spiritual guides, their arboreal overlords, their direct connection to the divine and ascending to the next realm. You might see a jar of dried twigs but ask them about the jar of dried twigs and you gon find out about its 3428042 medicinal purposes, the 8 different ways you can injest the plant, the 3 different ways you don’t want to injest the plant or else you will die and that time they were scaling a mountain and almost tumbled to their death if not for the vine of that very plant extending a leafy limb to save them from their peril.

Signaling Vs. Seeding

Hello everyone! I’ve been meaning to make this post for awhile since I don’t see a lot of distinction between these two things when queerness is discussed in the fandom. They’re sort of used interchangeably when they’re actually wildly different things with wildly different functions. As always, it’s an opinion based on my own experiences, so you’re welcome to take it or leave it, but I haven’t seen anything discussing this particular issue before and it’s something that really bothers me, as it’s harmful and often rooted in homophobia to misconstrue queer signaling as some type of public performance and I see it being done constantly in this fandom.

Also, I use the word “queer” freely in this post as an umbrella term to mean not straight. If that offends you, quit here.

Can you write an imagine where the reader turns off her humanity because Enzo tells her Stefan doesn’t feel the same way that she does. 21 47 110

Hey guys, I’m sorry I haven’t been posting a lot. I’m going through some things. My mom has cancer so I’ve been really distracted. Trying my best to keep it together, love you all. And thanks @rock-n-magick for helping me write this, give her some love.

“Oh, for God’s sake! If I catch you eye raping Stefan one more time, I fear I might have to gauge my eyes out.” Your best friend’s voice made you look away from the youngest Salvatore.

“Enzo!” You scolded, kicking his leg.

“I’m only speaking the truth, love.” He grinned.

“I wasn’t eye raping him either, I was simply admiring from a far.”

“I’ll never understand why you keep chasing after him, he’s in love with Elena.”

You stayed quiet, folding your arms over you chest. “I know he is, but I also know he likes me. I mean, we have chemistry.”

Enzo sighed, leaning his head against the couch. “What will make you believe me? What will make you see that Stefan doesn’t feel the same about you?”

“Enzo they’re friends, that’s it.” You shook your head, why was he so obsessed with that topic?

“One day the light will shine bright and open your eyes, then you’ll see.”

A couple of weeks passed and it was the perfect day to take a walk. Enzo strolled into the boarding house, walking past the den to get to your room.

Suddenly Enzo paused and turned around, as something caught his eye. Stefan was on top of Elena, their eyes locked. None seemed to even notice him; there was something in the air; it made Enzo pull out his phone and sneak a picture.

“Y/N?” Enzo said softly, walking into your bedroom and shutting the door.

“Hey! I was just about to call you, wanna grab a couple drinks at the Grill?” You smiled warmly.

He sighed, running a hand through his hair. He knew what he was about to do would hurt you, but it just had to be done. “I need to show you something, Y/N.” he spoke slowly.

“What do you mean? Is everything okay?”

Enzo sat on the edge of your bed. “As your best mate, I will no longer allow Stefan to toy with your emotions. I will no longer allow you to be so blind.”

You peered at the photo Enzo was showing you. You felt something in your chest knot up and tug harshly. You blinked slowly and the silent tears fell down your cheeks as you looked up at Enzo. “But… But I thought they were just friends… We had so much chemistry and such a bond and I- I-” You stumbled, chest heaving as you felt your heartstrings break. You felt so many emotions flood over you that you collapsed into Enzo’s chest.

“Y/N, you can’t be this blind, Stefan and Elena belong together! He doesn’t love you, he never truely has and he never will, okay? Open your eyes!”  Enzo ran his fingers through his hair.

You sat and stared, confused as to why you weren’t bleeding all over the place, even though your heart had just been crushed and battered. “Why? Why doesn’t he love me? Am I not good enough? Why does it hurt? Enzo, it hurts.” You craddled yourself numbly. “…Everything hurts.”

It seemed to him a good idea at the time.  “Turn it off.” You faced your best friend, cheeks moist with tears. Enzo cupped your cheeks. “It’s okay to turn it off, nothing will hurt anymore. Okay? You’ll feel nothing.” Your eyes searched his one last time before a dull look filled them. The last unshed tears fell as you blinked, face finally expressionless.

You pulled away, wiping your cheeks. You threw your hair into a high pony tail and grabbed your coat. “You were right… I don’t feel anything.” You turned towards Enzo. “And my God, it feels good.” You smirked.

He stared at you, taking in your new attitude. “Where are you going?”
“Have a snack. Are you in?”

“Why not? It seems like I got a new murder buddy.” Enzo laughed.

It was past midnight when you look around; bodies upon bodies littered your bedroom floor. You and Enzo had been celebrating life in general by drinking and feasting, completely disregarding the human lives.

“Try her!” Enzo spoke over the music as he nudged you the girl he was curently sucking dry. You grinned, brushing her hair our of the way as you began gulping down her warm blood. Enzo watched you in amazement before joining you on the other side of her neck.

Suddenly, the music stopped. You looked up to see Stefan holding the remote in his hand, arms crossed, an annoyed look on his face. You smiled, blood dripping down your chin.

“What the hell is going on?” Stefan scanned all the bodies that littered the floor.

“Hi Stefan.” You smiled and pushed the girl off your bed, her body hitting the floor. “Came to join us? We’re celebrating.”

“You turned your humanity off.” Stefan observed.

“I did! And it’s been a blast!” You giggled, Enzo eyed you.

“Enzo.” Stefan’s low voice accused, but before Enzo could speak, you went on.

“Alright, ‘dad’. If you’re here to complain, you might as well just turn around and leave.”

Stefan looked back at you, surprised. Ever since you two met, you had never used that tone with him. You always spoke to him with chaste adoration, but now it seemed as if he was only a bore, some stranger that was in the way of your fun.

“Well, I do live here.” He commented, crossing his arms. “Your behavior is unsettling.”

“Well,” you mimed him, “Some people would also find unsettling the view of you and Elena almost having sex downstairs, but hey! Not me!” You chuckled emotionlessly as you watched his eyes widen from your comment. “Ah, this is so boring. Enzo, come on. Let’s go before daddy gets us grounded.”

As you walked past him, Stefan felt a heavy weight settle on his heart. He glared at Enzo. “I hope you know what you’re doing.”

Enzo stared back at him; a flash of doubt in his eyes. “So do I.”

Stefan couldn’t get the thought of you out of his head, he couldn’t believe what was happening. You were one of the most compassionate people he knew, you rarely fed from people, blood bags only. You cared for human life but now you were tearing through people like there was no tomorrow.

A knock rang through the house, pulling him from his thoughts.

Liz stood at the door, a grim expression on her face. She held a file and looked at Stefan. He knew this was about Y/N. “Everything okay?”

“Not even close. Stefan, Y/N has ripped through the town like a plague, she’s killed more than 20 people in the last week. People are noticing and I can’t keep blaming peoples heads being ripped off on some animal.”

Stefan nodded, “I’ll talk to her.”

“Fix her.”

“I will.”

You stumbled in, a guy strung around your waist as the two of you walked towards your room. You planted your lips to his sloppily as you opened your bedroom door.

Stefan sat on your bed, no expression on his face.

“Whose this?” The guy beside you quizzed.

“No one, baby.” You smiled and glared at the youngest Salvatore. You turned towards your guest and told him to go to the den and get some whiskey. He quickly stumbled out. “You’re ruining my night.”

“Am I?” Stefan shrugged.

“What is this about? I have plans for tonight.”

“Like screwing that guy’s brains out and then draining him?”

You smirked to yourself. “Jealous?”

“Yes.”

You walked over and placed yourself on his lap, gripping his shoulders. “It could always be you, just ask.”

“Not when you’re like this.” Stefan gripped your hips and removed you from his lap.

“I’m not like anything, Stefan. This is me, accept it and move on.”

“This is not you.” Stefan could barely contain his anger, he felt like you had died and someone was living in your body and using your voice.

“It is-”

“You know something, Y/N? You’ve only heard his point of you, you never asked for mine.”

“What the hell are you getting at?” You crossed your arms over your chest.

“What Enzo saw last week was nothing. Elena and I were just-”

“I don’t wanna hear your bullshit” You turned to walk out the door. Stefan had you pinned against the wall in an instant, his face inches from yours. “Get off of me!” You growled and pushed against him.

“Stop.” He said calmly.

“I don’t wanna here this, Stefan I don’t care anymore. I don’t care about anything okay! Now mov-”

“Shut up and listen to me!” He screamed, his hand gripping yous roughly. “Just listen.” He took a breath.

You weren’t gonna let him bully you, you stared into his eyes with defiance. “What happened last week was an accident. Elena ingested some wolfbane and she was losing it. She came after she and I pushed her, it got crazy and I fell when I was trying to restrain her. Yes, I still love Elena, but you never stop loving your first love. She won’t be my last though, okay? I love you, Y/N. I love you, not her. I want you, not her. And seeing you like this is breaking me.”

You looked away, his stare was too intense. “Don’t fight this, turn them back on. Turn your emotions back on and come back to me.” Stefan pleaded, his hands cupping your cheeks. His eyes were pure and pained and you knew they were honest.

And just like that all everything came onto you like a wave, you felt like you couldn’t breath. Tears ran down your cheeks and you felt ashamed that you had terrorized the town. “Oh, what have I done!” You cried into Stefan’s chest.

“It’s okay, you’ll forgive yourself.”

“I hurt everybody, I hurt you.”

“It’s okay, shh shh.” He cooed and cradled you. “Please never leave me like that, I almost lost you.”

Never Gonna Happen

Enzo Amore/OC (smut): Despite his constant playful flirtations, you and Enzo have never been anything more than friends. After a drunken night at the club, and a questionable morning after, you learn how he really feels about you.

(This is my first fic on here, I’m so nervous but I hope you all really enjoy it! It ended up waaaay longer than I anticipated.)

Special thanks to @imaginingwwesuperstars for being super supportive and an all-around sweetheart, ily. <3

anonymous asked:

Hey there, I've been really enjoying reading your blog and have been learning a lot. I'd like to ask about some claims I see being made online about that everyone needs to stop eating meat/animal products imminently to lessen climate change. Is that the full picture? Most articles I see online promote a "plant based" (read: vegan) diet, but is it feasible for everyone to even do that? Would it even help? Thanks :)

This is a very complex question, and a lot has been written on it from different perspectives, but I have to say that it definitely is not the full picture.  To be honest, the question you asked could become an entire paper and/or thesis, but here are some reasons why everyone stopping eating animals immediately is neither feasible nor sustainable for people or the climate.

The fact of the matter is, we have to feed -everyone- with the land and resources we have.  Climate change aside, that is the problem ag seeks to solve. So a solution is not truly sustainable unless it is capable of feeding everyone and is better for the climate than alternatives. Ok? Here we go!

So, does going animal-free work to feed everyone?

  • Many people (myself included) cannot safely exist on a diet devoid of animal products. Whether it be due to celiac, soy allergies, corn allergies, other gut disorders, many people need at least some animal products to survive. I have celiac. I also cannot eat soy more than occasionally without getting very sick and risking permanent health consequences. The majority of the items on the list of foods I cannot eat without getting sick and/or putting my health at risk are plant-derived. I am far from the only one like this.
  • Allergies to plant-derived foods are far more common than to animal-derived ones.  Of the top 8 allergens estimated to cause >90% of allergic reactions by the Mayo Clinic, half of them are plant sources, and of the plant sources listed (peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat) those are common sources of protein for vegetarian/vegan diets. If we cut out animal-based protein, where are people with these allergies going to get protein?
  • Saying “everyone can eat vegan” is ableist, and denies the reality of many people, myself and many of my family members included.

Going totally vegan may actually be bad for some ecosystems

  • Grasslands and rangelands need grazing to survive. These lands evolved under pressure from native herbivores, which in turn were kept in check by predators. Humans have largely eliminated those predators from a good chunk of the world, or severely reduced them (see the issue with deer overpopulation in the US due to human elimination of predators).
  • Even if all the land currently grazed by herbivores was returned to wild populations, we risk herbivore overpopulation issues and long-term environmental degradation. If we just remove all grazing herbivores, we wind up with habitat degradation and in many places, increased fuel for forest fires, which causes its own problems. Removing herbivores also changes ecosystem balance for many other species that rely on herbivores to clear out excess brush, provide manure, or alter habitats.
  • A totally vegan diet for humanity wastes land.  (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/next/earth/going-vegan-isnt-actually-th/) Most grazing land is unsuitable for row crops without massive inputs of fertilizer and tilling/irrigation, which themselves can have a fairly high carbon footprint, and repeated tilling can be very bad for certain kinds of soil. (http://cropwatch.unl.edu/tillage/structure
  • Have you ever seen the rangelands of California or Montana? It would be extremely difficult to grow row crops there, but we are really good at growing cattle and sheep there!  Since grassland is 26% of the world’s land area, and 70% of the world’s agricultural area, any diet that doesn’t use pasture-produced animal products will be wasting a lot of land that could be feeding people. (http://www.fao.org/ag/agp/agpc/doc/grass_stats/grass-stats.htm)
  • As the world population increases, pressure on existing land usage is going to increase, and so agriculture needs to rise to meet this challenge.

So I think we can make the case that a), a vegan diet will not feed everyone, and b) wastes land that could be used to feed people. So by default it’s not sustainable.

But what about livestock and climate change?

  • Livestock production of all types sum up to 15% of total greenhouse gas emissions worldwide (http://www.fao.org/news/story/en/item/197623/icode/),and 24% of global greenhouse gases come from agriculture, forestry, and other land use, according to the FAO. That includes plant and animal agriculture. (source: https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/global-greenhouse-gas-emissions-data)
  •  Of this, livestock are a major contributor, but so is soil management, which is needed for growing both human food and feed for livestock.
  • By contrast, electricity/heat, industry, and transport account for 25, 21, and 14% of greenhouse gases, respectively.
  • In the US, livestock account for just 4.2% of total greenhouse gas emissions. To contrast, transportation and energy production account for 27% and 31% of total US greenhouse gas emissions, respectively.
  • The contribution of livestock to greenhouse gases is higher in developing countries, partially due to a lot of livestock eating poorer quality feed or needing longer to reach market, and the fact that grass-fed livestock do produce more methane than livestock fed on lower-fiber feeds.
  • But as discussed above, those grass-eating livestock are necessary for producing food where other crops can’t grow, and keeping ecosystems healthy.
  • So for the US and other developed countries, focusing on livestock seems a bit shortsighted compared to developing cleaner energy and transport, right? (source: http://www.afia.org/rc_files/801/livestocks_contribution_to_climate_change_facts_and_fiction.pdf Disclaimer: the author of this piece is one of my advisors)
  • The US EPA here lists a lot of good ways we can improve agriculture to reduce climate change https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/sources-greenhouse-gas-emissions#land-use-and-forestry but the fact of the matter is, while ag and livestock ag in particular contribute a good amount to climate change, it’s got a big job to do - feeding everyone!
  • Herbivores like cows and sheep and goats are needed to preserve native forage-based ecosystems and provide food, but at the cost of producing methane that contributes to climate change. However, if we got rid of every cow and sheep and replaced their contribution to human diets with chicken and pigs, we’d have to grow extra food for them, which means more greenhouse gases to grow those foods, and we’re back at square one
  • To me, the real benefit of livestock, especially on range situations, is that they turn human-inedible plant protein into human-edible protein. That’s a significant reason why they’re so important to the human food supply.
  • Livestock also eat a lot of byproducts (brewer’s mash, hulls, tomato pulp, etc) that would otherwise go to waste.  This reduces the impact of their feed production and of waste disposal in other industries. We’d have a lot of reject feed/byproducts sitting around if we got rid of livestock, and those would have greenhouse gas production from their waste disposal.

For me, it amounts to priorities - we know a vegan diet won’t feed everyone and it wastes land. We don’t have enough arable land to feed everyone on a vegan diet, even if everyone could go vegan.

We have researchers like myself and my colleagues working to help farmers reduce greenhouse gas emissions no matter what they farm (greenhouse gas emissions are a waste, remember, and cost farmers money). Livestock, especially in range situations and developing countries, eat a lot of stuff that would otherwise go to waste, and help keep ecosystems healthy.

So it’s not just the analytical life cycle of the animal and it’s impacts, it’s what would the effect on climate change be by a) removing livestock and b) dealing with the human food needs met by doing so?

To me, livestock earn their keep, and while it is our job to keep improving livestock systems to be more efficient and help  prevent worse climate change, we also need to remember that livestock are an important part of the sustainability of existing systems.

i just feel so blessed to be in a world with plants like………….there is nothing more cool and sci fi than plants???? like there are 647 families that we know of and there’s so much to learn about them and so much we don’t know but they’re living along side us and just quietly live and breathe and sense and move and we’re just like okay with that???? some people don’t even give them a second thought?????……………….like that’s some Star Trek shit right there. someone better make an action thriller about rushing to discover some vital botanical information or smth I would watch it

Hello! I would love to open some art commissions, but I was wondering if you had any recommendations on how payment should be done(?) Would it be good to show them a sketch before they pay so they can get a flavor of what I will draw, or should I have them pay before I have anything done to protect myself from (literally) sketchy customers?

here is what i usually do:

  1. ask them for colored picture references, if they dont have any ask them to find you pallets and stock photos that outlines what colors they want and what the character looks like.
  2. ask them for their email not only do you need this for paypal but people change their tumblr url a lot so its nice to be able to find them.
  3. yes, absolutely provide a sketch before you ask for payment, this will help you more than them. people often try and “add” things in later that cost extra if you skip this step (one thing i get a lot after they pay is “hey can you put my cat in there to???” or “also can you put like 90 plants in it too”). also it will give you a better idea of the cost
  4. after they approved the sketch and the price send them the invoice and tell them you’ll start once its paid (i ask for half payment when its over $50)
  5. -have them pay with paypal (SEND THEM AN INVOICE dont let anyone pay through paypal.me), have a full contract in the invoice as well, mine pretty much says “it could take up to 2 moths i can still portfolio it, feel free to sell it blah bla)

some other tips:

  • if you do half payment, then show then a suuuper low quality jpeg with a huge watermark when you give them updates
  • set the number of revisions you allow and be sure to outline if its okay to ask for revisions of the lineart or not (i know this will mess some people up) i only allow 3 unless the com was under $10 then i offer one
  • sometimes it helps to ask them their budget before sketching or talking about a price, that way you can make them something that will take as much time as their willing to pay for, rather than everyone being confused on hourly cost.
  • have a day rate!!!, rather than hourly rate. why? its easier to divide up “how many of these can i make in a day” rather than “how many half hours will this take”, if someone asks me for something that will probably take me a full day of focused work, its $100, if they want something that will only take a quarter day then its $25. easy. (my rate is mega low because i work very slowly, if you work fast you should start at $300 to $500 imo)
  • dont take every commission, if you dont wanna do it, jsut dont do it, even if its not outlined in your commission guidelines !!! if you take comms you dont like you’ll get burnt out FAST.
  • google drive is my best friend, its great to share finished pngs in and photoshop/aseprite files through. and its really easy to stay organized!!! i like to put a lil thank you note in the folders so i look like a cool professional B)
  • please at least charge a living wage for your work. if youre doing them “just for fun” then do pay what you wants, that way youre not normalizing paying people under living standards. you will be respected for charging a living salary and get more professional commissioners that value you and your art.

im really passionate about this kinda thing because i love to see artists thrive, so feel free to ask anything else. dont forget commissions arnt the only way to make money as an artist, apply for conventions, submit your work to galleries, make merchandise, monetize your blog, use patreon, or try out youtube. i really hope this helps !!!

He’s more than just ‘street smart’–he’s incredibly intelligent. I kind of feel some people use that term as a cop out or, tbh, classist bullshit.

All of the Robins are intelligent and no one should need to talk around using the label for more than one of them at a time.

11 with peter parker & reader

“Peter, that isn’t a valid reason for risking your life!” Your tone was angry and bitter as you knealed before Peter with a first aid kit by your side.

Peter winced, sighing to himself as he sat injured on your bed, his skin burning as you dabbed a small piece of gauze over his cuts. “Y/N, you don’t understand. It’s my job-”

You startled Peter when you suddenly stood up from your carpeted floor, his ribs creaking and a groan echoing from his lips as he looked up at you. “No, Peter! Your job is to help old ladies cross the road or stop people from robbing a bank, not chasing after a mass criminal who could fairly well get you killed!”

Peter watched as a stress line invaded the space between your eyebrows, and he looked down at his lap in shame. “I’m sorry, Y/N. I never wanted to worry you.”

“I know, Pete.” You closed your eyes, your face burning and lips beginning to quiver. “I just… it’s so hard to stop worrying when I know that you’re in danger and there’s nothing I can do to help. I’m here, studying while you’re out there, risking your life for this city. I just get scared, and I didn’t mean to get loud with you.”

Peter watched carefully as you opened your eyes again, and before you could say anything else, he was removing his suit from his body and standing up from the bed. You rose your eyebrows in his direction, wondering what he was doing as he slowly hopped his way over to your dresser.

“I still have clothes here, right?” He asked, searching through your first drawer, where he knew you put all of the clothes that he left at your apartment.

“Yeah, under my yoga pants right there.” You pointed to your black yoga pants that were on top of the last pair of clothes he left there.

Soon, Peter was changing out of his Spiderman suit and into his regular clothes, and you watched as he finally turned toward you with a grim expression on his face.

“Can we leave?” He said, his eyes pleading with yours to say yes.

You groaned loudly, nodding your head. “Where would we go, Peter?”

He looked down at the floor and bit his lip in thought. “I know a place, but I need my webs.” He reached into his bag, and grabbed his spare webs, watching as you eyed him skeptically. “Don’t worry. I’ll keep you safe.” He said before grabbing your elbow and dragging you out the door of your apartment.

“Are you sure you should swing around the city like that, Pete?” You asked, raising a brow and motioning to his ribs.

Peter nodded, walking into the elevator with you. “Yeah, I’ll be fine.”

“Peter, from what I saw with that big bruise on your ribcage, you at least have two broken ribs. You shouldn’t even be walking right now.”

Peter sighed, running a hand through his brown curls and looking down at you with a stern expression. “Y/N, I’ll be fine.” He bit, turning away from you.

A sudden dry scoff escaped your lips, and Peter looked over at you in questioning.

Suddenly, before you could speak your mind towards Peter, the elevator began to screech, shaking underneath your feet. Immediately, Peter pulled you against his chest, ready to move somehow in case something were to happen.

The elevator screeched to a sudden hard stop, and you and Peter were sent falling against the wall, Peter groaning by the pain in his ribs.

“Shit.” You spat, standing up to abruptly pace in front of Peter. “This elevator has never been good, we should have taken the stairs. Now we’re stuck here until we can get some help.”

Peter rose a brow at your statement and carefully rose from the ground, motioning to his wrists. “Did you forget about my special abilities?” He asked.

You looked over to him only to send him a dirty look, and turned your back to him. “You’re hurt, Peter. You can’t get us out of here right now, let’s get profession help please.”

Peter widened his eyes in shock, his blood suddenly boiling as he watched you take out your phone.

Scaring you, he snatched the phone from your hand, a glare taking over his features. “I am professional help, Y/N, and I would love it if you would stop questioning what I can do.”

You gulped and sighed, just now realizing what you had said. “Peter, I didn’t mean it like that.”

Peter shook his head, closing his eyes and taking a slow breath, his ribs still moaning in pain. “I just want you to trust me. Please, can you do that?”

You nodded, wrapping your arms around his torso softly, and placing your head against his chest. “Of course I can, Pete. I trust you more than most people, and I don’t wanna fight.”

Peter pulled you closer to him, planting a soft kiss into your hair. “I don’t like fighting with you.”

It was quiet for a few moments until your voice ripped through the silence, causing Peter to laugh and groan all at once.

“Now, can you get us out of here, please?”

You smiled when you heard him laugh, but stopped when he moaned in pain, immediately pulling away from him.

“Are you okay?” Slowly,

Peter looked around, trying to find a way to get out of the elevator. He began to unzip his hoodie, the Spiderman symbol being revealed.

You smiled.

He was your very own hero, and you couldn’t be any more grateful.

12 days. 12 days had passed since the pain began. Uchiha Sakura hadn’t complained about it, she didn’t want her husband to worry or think there was a problem. She was a medical shinobi. She’d know if there was an issue. Nevertheless, the sharp cramps irritated her. So did the peeing. She had to pee. It felt like it was constant, she knew the way she had always been asking to stop for a break the past week was beginning to annoy her husband. He wasn’t a man who liked to take things slow. He’d never been, she feared he’d send her away if she kept up this atypical attitude. So she tried to stop it. She held her bladder as long as she could and didn’t complain about the pain in her abdomen. She didn’t mention the emotional drain she felt, instead she blamed it on poor sleep and bad weather. She had been tired, tired for so many years of being a burden on him, she didn’t want to become one again. You’re not a burden anymore, Sakura. She thought to herself, reminding herself that his seemingly insensitive comments were that of endearment. After all, he had asked her to be his wife. Still, she couldn’t fathom why she had begun to feel so awful.

On the 13th day, the newly-wed couple made their way into a new town. A tiny place, only a few houses and shoppes in the area. Sakura walked closely to her dear husband, watching as he examined the area. It was part of his redemption, he’d stay and offer help to these townsfolks if they needed it. Even minor assistance, he’d insist they were no bother. Watching him interact with the people of the town, her heart swelled with love and admiration for the man she called Sasuke-kun. He had been working so hard, for so many years to redeem himself of his crimes. Their home village of Konoha had forgiven him, and their friends in Suna had as well. Word was quickly spreading of the bloodline Uchiha’s good deeds, but all was not forgiven. There were still many who thought he should never be forgiven, who thought he should be thrown in jail or executed. Sakura tried not to mind any attention to them. She knew her husband was a good man, that he planned to spend the rest of his days helping people and protecting the ones he held dear to his heart.

As Sasuke spoke to the town leader, a little old man with a silly mustache, Sakura noticed a woman with a large, round belly and a small boy by her side. She approached them, a smile drawn on her tender features.

“Hello, I’m Sakura.” She introduced herself, giving a little wave to the boy. He stepped behind his mother, peering around her leg.

“Hello Sakura, my name is Hyoshi. This is my son, Ako.” She waved again, though upon closer inspection the two did not look to be in good health.

“Are you two alright?” She asked, her eyes drifting naturally to the woman’s protruding belly. Hyoshi sighed.

“Our town is very poor, we can’t afford much. Ako and I haven’t been able to afford healthcare in a long time. We do our best to keep ourselves healthy, but with so little money we have to buy what we can in order to sustain ourselves.” Sakura felt for the two, offering a kind hand.

“Maybe I can help treat you. There are plenty of plants in the area to make natural elixirs.”

“That’s very kind of you, but we couldn’t pay-” Hyoshi began a small protest.

“No need, my husband and I are more than happy to help people who need it.” She looked over to Sasuke, who at that moment was showing a young man the proper way to hold a kunai knife. The boy couldn’t have been much older than an average genin, Sakura guessed he was likely asking for tips on how to protect his family.

“Isn’t that Uchiha Sasuke?” The woman whispered, the breath lost from her voice. Sakura nodded.

“He’s changed a lot since his past, he’s gone to many places just like this and helped people all over.” Ako watched, his eyes wide in awe.

“That’s very noble of him. It’s good to know he’s turned himself around.” Hyoshi commented. Sakura smiled.

“Darling! Will you come here please!” Sasuke looked back from his activity, handing his knife to the boy. He approached the women and child.

“What is it?” He asked.

“I’m going to help these people, but I’m going to need some plants. Will you get them for me?” He nodded, waiting for her to tell him what to retrieve. She took a quick look over Ako, then over Hyoshi.

“How many months are you?” She asked. Hyoshi smiled.

“I’m due any day now.” Sakura ran off a long list of various plants and berries to him, watching a moment as he left town.

“Are you sure he’ll be able to find all that?” Hyoshi asked, her skeptical face drawn in. Sakura nodded.

“Of course he will, now we should get you two inside and sitting down. Is there a place we can go?” Hyoshi took her to the Inn, where upon request they were given a temporary room. Just as long as Sakura needed to heal them, under the circumstances of the pregnancy. Hyoshi sat in a chair at the corner, watching this famed kunoichi treat her son. She stripped him to his underwear and scrubbed his back with water, cleaning the germs he picked up off and rinsing out his hair. The boy was feverish, Sakura guessed his temperature was around 101 or 102 degrees. With a fresh rag, she soaked cold water and lay in on top of his head. She told him to rest, that she was now going to help his mother before Sasuke returned. Walking to Hyoshi, she asked that she moved to a stool nearby and began a thorough examination of her. Noting a strain on her lower and upper back, she attempted to use her medical ninjutsu to heal the pulled nerves.

Much to her surprise, she was unable to focus her chakra as she was required to. She tried again, still unable to focus.

“I..I’m so sorry, I don’t know what’s going on with my chakra.” She admitted, embarrassed with herself.

“Don’t feel bad, I had this pain while pregnant with Ako as well.” Sakura nodded, and continued her examination. She learned that Hyoshi was overdue to give birth, at least by 3 weeks. She couldn’t imagine the pain she was enduring, her energy levels dangerously low. She fetched a glass of water for her two patients and waited with them for her husband.

“Again, I’m so sorry my chakra is behaving so strangely. I’ve never had this problem before.” Hyoshi gave a laugh.

“Have you considered the possibility that you’re pregnant?” She asked. Sakura’s eyes all but fell out of her head.

“Pregnant? I’m not.. I’m not pregnant! There’s no way.” A coy smile crossed her new friend’s face.

“Are you not being intimate? Because a woman like you, with a husband of his looks, I’d find that difficult to believe.” Now, Sakura blushed. She didn’t enjoy talking about her intimate life with Sasuke. Those times were theirs, theirs alone.

“Well, yes, but I don’t see how that can automatically make me pregnant. We, uh, we aren’t very new at intimacy.”

“That may be, but it’s all about the timing. Perhaps you were ovulating and his swimmers were stronger than the past times. Perhaps you were in a position that lead to it easier than most.” Sakura furrowed her brow, deep in thought, remembering their time together before her pains had begun.

They had done it in a cave, on a rainy night. Twice with her on top. After cuddling for hours, she found herself waking up highly aroused. Sasuke had been happy to give her satisfaction, though less enthused with her request to take her on her hands and knees. She loved it best like that, he was able to hit her in her most sensitive spots, she finished much faster and harder than their other positions. Suddenly a tidal wave of information washed over her, she remembered her lessons she’d been taught through lecture and experience on pregnant women. The symptoms, the stages, the specifics of an almost promised impregnation. So much of it had applied to her now.

Sasuke entered the room, a satchel of plants and berries, along with some bowls and jars. Sakura took the supplies from him and worked restlessly to create the needed medicine for Hyoshi and her son. Once the three elixirs Ako needed were complete, she began working on Hyoshi’s. Sasuke watched intensely, following her each step with his eyes.

“Here, this should endue labor.” Sakura said, offering a dark blue drink to the woman. She drank it happily.

“How can we ever thank you?” Sakura smiled, waving the notion of a thank you away.

“You’ve already helped me plenty. Though, we’ll stay in town so I can help deliver your baby, I want to make sure it’s healthy.” Hyoshi nodded, Sasuke and Sakura asked the Inn Keeper for a room.

Two days later Hyoshi went into labor. Ako, afraid of his mother’s screams, waited outside the Inn room with Sasuke. Sakura stayed with Hyoshi, giving words of encouragement at the birth progressed. With a scalpel she cut the cord, wrapping the small newborn in a blanket and showing her to Hyoshi. She rinsed the baby girl off and gave her to her mother, inviting Ako and Sasuke in.

“We’ll give you a minute.” She said, walking out as the little family welcomed it’s newest member. Sasuke followed.

“Wait here in case they need anything, I have to go to something quickly.” She said, handing him a few dollars to pay for their stay. She walked to the market, only  small one-roomed building with a few shelves and a young man behind the counter.

“Hi, do you sell pregnancy tests?” She asked. He smiled.

“Sure do.” He reached under the counter and pulled a pink box out, the label reading “Instant Home Pregnancy Test” on the front. Sakura paid the man and left, without a word more said. Anxiety built in her throat and chest, she wasn’t sure if she was ready to be a mom. It was easy, taking care of other’s kids, but she knew her own would be entirely different. She returned to the Inn, to Hyoshi’s room, with her test tucked away in her pouch.

“Have you decided on a name?” She asked. Hyoshi nodded.

“We’ve decided to call her, Sakura.” Sakura thanked them, wishing them the best of luck with their lives and went back into her own room, Sasuke close behind.

“Are we leaving now, Sakura?” He asked. Sakura nodded her head.

“I just need a few minutes, I have to use the bathroom.” Though she faced away from him, towards the door, she felt him roll his eyes. He wasn’t irritated at her, maybe only slightly annoyed she was prolonging their stay, but he wouldn’t refuse a simple bathroom request.

She walked into the bathroom and locked the door, pulling the box out and opening it. A folded up piece of paper fell out, printed instructions on how to take the test. She read them carefully, she knew how to take the test but there was no harm in being sure. It would take 2 minutes for her results to come in. One line would mean she’s not pregnant, two lines meant she was.

She was almost too nervous to pee. It frustrated her. She did everything she could to entice it out of her, finally succeeding just a tiny bit. The young woman hoped it would be enough for an accurate result. She set the test on the sink and waited. Counting each second as it passed, all the way through 3 minutes, just to be certain. Finally she was ready to look.

As she took the test off the sink, a million thoughts raced through her mind. She didn’t know if being pregnant was what she wanted or not. Every second she had decided on her hopes, her mind and heart told her to feel the opposite.

The next thing she knew, she was staring at two light pink lines, staring up at her, confirming that she was indeed pregnant. Tears began flowing heavily out of her eyes, silent, blurring her vision. Happiness washed over her body, excitement drowning out her pain. She stood and walked out, the test clutched firmly in her hand behind her back.

“It’s about time, what were you taking so long for?” Sasuke asked, sitting slouched in their own rooms chair, his chin resting on the palm of his hand. Trembling, the pinkette pulled the test out from behind her back, pointing to it.

“I.. I was doing this.” She said. He furrowed his brow, stepping over to her.

“What is that?” He asked, taking her hand, looking at the results of an unknown test.

“A pregnancy test, Sasuke-kun..” She trailed of a moment, looking to meet his eyes. “We’re going to be parents.” She was suddenly engulfed in a black cloak and warm embrace, his hold on her tight.

“We’re going to be parents.” He softly spoke, hearing it come from him made her heart swell. She nodded over his shoulder, her tears once again flowing freely. He pulled away to look at her, his own dark eyes gleaming with wetness. Not a word more was said then, the two dried their eyes and left the small town, hand in hand.

There would be time later to discuss the news, but for now, they’d continue on their journey together, letting the news of a new arrival settle in their minds and in their hearts.

A bee repellent, with blessing

So, I am a witch. Like most witches, I appreciate nature. And like most people who appreciate nature, I want to do my part to save the bees. I happen to live basically in the woods, so I can grow some plants as I like.

Unfortunately, I am also a ticking time bomb. Lethal bee and wasp allergies run strong in my family. I have never been stung and therefore my body does not currently react to bee allergens (bee allergies usually will not show up on a test if you have never been stung before), but there’s good odds that if I am ever stung more than once or twice in my life, it stands a chance of killing me if I don’t have an Epipen.

I imagine I am not the only witch with this problem (or worse, witches who have active allergies already).

So, how do I reconcile these things?

I am certainly not going to spray down my plants with insecticides, and I try to avoid killing bees or wasps if at all possible. That is much easier if they never get into my home in the first place, which can put me in a tough situation if I cannot corral them out again from a safe distance. I use my screens as much as possible, but those suckers sneak past me once in a while.

So, I grow my plants away from any of my windows if possible, for starts (aside from starting seedlings indoors). However, if you have an active allergy, you may want to avoid growing bee-attracting plants too close to your home at all.

And then, I go around the perimeter of my windows with a bee-repellent oil blend. This works by being unappealing to bees and wasps, NOT by physically harming or poisoning them. They won’t want to get close enough to eat it in the first place.

You can use any oil as a base, although I prefer a thinner one simply so it will go through my spray nozzle more easily. I also prefer to use EO’s and oils, as opposed to steeped herbs and water or soap (which is another common way of concocting bee/wasp repellent) because oil sticks around longer through rain and other weather conditions. It also keeps longer, of course.

I use the following oil blend for repellent affects:

  • Clove
  • Lemongrass
  • Eucalyptus
  • Catnip
  • Peppermint

In general, anything from the mint family will work well. If you have wormwood, this is also a good ingredient.

But to this, I also add a drop of my Good Luck oil, which although it does have some plants bees like, is much less concentrated than the repellent ingredients, and thus does not cancel out their affects. It’s actually pretty damn difficult to find luck and blessing herbs that *don’t* attract bees, so I have instead taken the approach of keeping them of much lower concentration.

So, in effect, bees and wasps decide not to play with my windows and turn away unharmed, but they have also come within the aura of my luck spell so they can hopefully find greener pastures.

*~*~* Obligatory warnings and addendums*~*~*

Please note that it is actually quite difficult to fully repel bees and wasps. This blend will likely work if you have a few around, but if you are 5 feet from an entire hive, this will not be enough. You will want to consult a professional to get advice on how best to handle a hive situation for both you and the bees, if they pose substantial danger to you.

Also, I only spray this on the outside of my windows. This blend is not pet- or kid-safe! Do not spray it where your furry friends, or your mini-humans, might be able to lick it up. If you are pregnant, also be sure to handle carefully and wash off any EO’s you get on your hands. Clove in particular is not good for pregnant people.
