i like it in the slash

Got any thoughts on Zarkon's new armor? It seems like it's probably relevant on a metaphorical level that he's now COMPLETELY covered by his armor slash life support system.

What I think is so interesting about this is that Zarkon would sooner risk the impracticality of encasing his entire body in a metal suit than he would allow people to see him in a weakened state.

It reminds me of how Zarkon and Shiro are really excellent foils- to the point that a lot of their similar qualities have completely different underlying implications.

I heard them walk off and I slumped into my ass print on the couch. My hand was already at my forehead. Holy shit, what the fuck does this mean? I mean…
I raced to my room to get my phone.

I have a Masters in Fiction and I work in publishing. A big conversation in literature right now is whether or not an author has the ability to be creative or even realistic anymore without getting "called out" for something. But I don't think it can be on us to represent every single marginalized group in every single thing we write. It is our job to write what we want to write to the best of our ability in a way that moves our readers to think. You're not "erasing" anyone by doing that.

Thank you. I really needed to hear that and I think a lot of my fellow writers need to read and know this too. I feel like ages ago it was easier to just write about what you want to write about. Nowadays you have a tons of people in your back ready to slash you down if you don’t write about what they want to read. So thank you. It is good to know we don’t erase anything by writing what we want to write.

I’m not sure it’s 100% applicable but I sort of wonder if lots of people who grumble about The Force Awakens being “too like the original” even remember the weirdly stringent guidelines fanworks and fanculture is held to in order to not be ‘cringy.’ For years, anything other than 100% perfect adherence to canon was considered uncomfortable and unserious. This includes things like slash fiction and noncanon character relationships, pushing out lgbt+ writers and nearly always erring on the side of the original works’ designated straight couples, not to mention demonizing any ‘new’ characters.

So it makes sense that the core franchise of the new Star Wars trilogy would err on the side of the least risk and basically invoke the same or a similar plot and story structure as the original, maybe a dated one. Especially when the prequel trilogy faced such harsh criticism for breaking away from expectations and familiar storytelling. It would make sense to observe what ‘the most discerning’ fans consider powerful and dignified and serious (vs. frivolous, self-indulgent etc.), and cater to that taste.

(Which is not a criticism of the characters. In some ways I even think the new trio might have been hobbled in the first movie by this need to basically make “more of the same”– especially when we now have Rogue One as a frame of reference.)

But Rogue One is a story that, if it was a fanwork, might have been considered super ‘cringy.’ It has a nearly all-original cast of characters. It has male characters engaging in intimacy, if not a gay relationship. A young female character whose parents are tragically killed or exploited is the main character. The everybody-dies ending would have been seen as simultaneously unsatisfying yet marginally more mature than happily-ever-after… or even childishly ruthless.

But it turns out that the type of story that often doesn’t get much recognition in fandom is exactly the kind of story that was excellent up on the big screen, whereas the more structured, super-homage story of The Force Awakens was seen by some as comparatively clunky, maybe awkward as its well-developed core characters struggled against expectations for the franchise.

I promised myself no longer to touch the paints and forget about the dark butler, BUT! How without Grell and Will? (And what’s next? The Undertaker? Well, no).I’m working on this drawing. Still much work to do and I need a little inspiration, because I’m already tired. Guys are not much like themselves, but the main point is aesthetics.

Hotch looked out for every member of his team but Reid well he needed to make sure that he was okay, it was harder for him to understand people and newer people were often offended for and he knew that could cause a problem for the younger agent, so when he saw that he was the only one still at the office he had to go over and speak to him. “Reid?” Hotch asked and the boy looked up.
“Oh Sorry I was-”
“Are you okay?” He asked and Reid looked up at him surprised.
“Well really… I was wondering what made everyone so patient with me, I know that some people find me annoying and infuriating but everyone here they are so nice.” Reid finally said and Hotch smiled softly to himself.
“Everyone is a little infuriating,” Hotch answered but Reid shook his head.
“No that’s different.” He decided.
“How so?” He asked.
“Well that normal but I’m not normal,” Reid answered.
“No but that’s the point, you different, you help because your different and the people here are understanding and you might need some time to learn but everyone is willing to wait and to help,” Hotch answered, “we always will help because you are part of the team, you are part of the family.”
“Thanks.” Reid smiled softly.
“See you tomorrow Reid.” Hotch smiled.
“See you tomorrow sir,” Reid answered before gathering his stuff and putting it all in his bag and leaving the office.

Requests and general question!

Inktober day 17

Honestly, wasn’t very motivated for Inktober today, but like hell I’m stopping after making it this far without a damn good reason, so I decided to share a little someone with the world that I’ve been meaning to post for awhile now.

This is Tesla. One of the few OCs I ever created, and of course I had to go and make her the offspring of my favorite OTP. Technically she’s Quackerjack’s daughter (sorry Mpreg fans my science geek brain screams bloody murder when I try to get dudes pregnant) but Megavolt did kinda inject her with his DNA so I suppose he is her dad in a way. Cause how else do men make babies besides shooting their DNA at things? Anyway, long story short she was based on a design I originally did for someone else but she kinda ended up morphing into my own character. She was created for a story that has been incubating in my head for a long time now where Megavolt and Quackerjack try to settle down and have a normal life (with ridiculous results because they are SO not normal) when this little lady enters their family. Mostly because I wanted to plop them on the other side of Drake’s house so he can have two sets of neighbors he can’t stand.

Will probably give her a full bio eventually, but personality wise she heavily takes after Quackerjack, although Megavolt definitely managed to turn her into a bit of a science nerd. She has his powers but creates all her electricity naturally so she doesn’t have to carry anything to actually store it. She can’t be shorted out by water, but it does hurt her immensely. And in case you’re curious, yes, she is crazy. That shit’s in her genes, man.

I have so many ridiculous things to write for this girl so you will probably see her again.

As I was reading inferus, I couldn’t help but wonder how the hell it’s going to turn into slash. Like wtf. Is Voldemort suddenly going to be like: “Oh shit you’re hot now. Oh shit you’re a horcrux. Oh shit I’m gay. Oh shit you’re gay.” You don’t have to answer. I just am very interested in how the fuck the story is going to play out. I imagine there’s going to be a lot of Harry going “IS IT CEDRIC OR VOLDEMORT?!?!!” And I’m more than cool with that.

🙃

I was a member of a 60-person dance crew in Jacksonville. We were called Dance Dance Resolution: We Resolve To Dance. One day, Donkey Doug and I got into a fight because I’d framed his girlfriend for boogie board theft, so he started a new dance crew called Hashtag DougLife and immediately challenged us to a dance-off. He said, “Meet us inside the abandoned orange juice factory at midnight.” That night, as the clock struck 12:00, me and my crew came together with a determination we had never shown before and slashed all their tires. It was dope. The end. By Jason Mendoza.

[Two very passionate people]

Mildly inspired by @ryntaia’s fanfic about how both Futaba and Yusuke may be different, but they’re both the most passionate in the group.

I’ve been meaning to draw these two because I’ve fallen deep into Yutaba hell- population— probs v little but all the more reason to make content for it ; v ;

This was a warm up doodle gone a little too far, but I’d love to polish it further sometime soon~

listen sometimes ur brain just comes up with ridiculous AU ideas & you can either ignore them or roll with it long enough to share it with the world

that being said

Elle Woods as Captain America.
