i knew i should have put you on my fantasy team

anonymous asked:

Can you write about lance (from voltron) getting angry? like snaping, because I feel like we haven't seen lance truly angry yet, all the times we have seen him mad, but it seemed more agitated to me, and so I would love it if you wrote about lance snapping, just him being so sick of everything and someone makes a bad comment at the wrong time and he just snaps and he is terrifying, please? (p.s can it be super angst?)

Sorry if this is quite what you wanted, but here you go anon!

I image Lance as someone who would let himself get beat up but would kick someone’s ass if they dared to touch his friend, as well as being quietly intimidating since he often is loud and the contrast shows how serious he’s being.

Warning for some light swearing!

Lance made his way towards the kitchen, he was up a bit earlier than usual, though not overly so. He had gotten enough scoldings from Allura to know he needed to get his shit together. He often feels like he’s holding back the team and he is willing to make double the effort to become useful.

As he approached the entrance to the kitchen, he heard the muffled sounds of his teammates talking. Hoping Hunk was working his magic and preparing something other than the bland food goo, he sped up a tad. His fantasies of Hunk’s cooking ended abruptly when he got close enough to clearly make out what one of the voices was saying

“-know he’s trying, but he has to step it up! He’s lagging behind all of us.” He heard Shiro say

Lance stopped in his tracks. Shiro, Lance’s hero, just openly spoke about some of Lance’s biggest insecurities.

He spun around to go back to his room, however, dozens of cheesy soap operas and cliché scenes of drama being started from someone misinterpreting, mishearing, or misunderstanding made him stay.

He pressed his back against the wall, and he slid down it until he was sitting. He was a couple feet away from the doorway so while he could make out what his team was saying, he still had time to react and get up if he heard footsteps.

“I say we make him train more,” was Keith’s less than helpful input in lance’s opinion. He has trained a lot on his own, but he just wasn’t improving fast enough.

“Guys, Lance tries really hard, lay off a little,” Lance appreciated Hunk’s support and confidence in him, though it didn’t make Shiro and Keith’s comments sting any less

“Hunk, we know you’re the closest to Lance, but doesn’t that make your opinion a little more biased?”

“Lance isn’t at the same level as us, and he needs to get there.”

Hunk desperately tried to defend him but Lance knew it was a lost cause at this point, the more he listened to, the more he got frustrated. He contemplated getting up and leaving to calm himself down in his room now that he knew this wasn’t a misinterpretation; he was the subject of the conversation, more specifically, his inadequacy.

“Shouldn’t you get back to cooking or something? Shiro and I were discussing this and you kind of butted in,” Lance snapped to attention at that comment, did Keith seriously just say that?

Before Lance even processed what he was doing, he stormed into the kitchen, walked up into Keith’s startled face, his own looking furious, “What the hell did you just say?” his tone was even in a terrifying way

Keith seemed to understand it was a rhetorical question, Shiro seemed unnerved by Lance’s uncharacteristically serious tone.

“Lance, it was nothing-”

“That’s bull, Hunk, and you know it. That was entirely uncalled for.” Lance turned back towards the other two presences in the room, “Listen and listen well. If you even breathe another word that belittles, demeans, puts down, or even suggests Hunk did anything wrong when he hasn’t done a damn thing, then you’d better hope and pray I am as far behind in training as you suggest I am.” His tone was chilling, his eyes locked onto Keith’s, his icy glare effectively putting out the fire in Keith’s.

Keith soon snapped out of it and seemed to contemplate something before speaking, “So are you saying that if we insult Hunk you’ll be more motivated to train harder?” that was the wrong thing to say.

The ice in Lance’s gaze melted, being replaced with a fire that could burn anyone it was directed at, “If you dare to suggest what I think you are, my position on the team will not be your main concern.” his voice had started low, rising with every word, “Are we clear?” his words were short and tight, intimidating everyone in the room.

Nods from both Shiro and Keith were enough for Lance, he wasn’t going to let it go right away but he knew they understood.

“Alright, good,” Lance questioned if he should address what had spurred Hunk being dismissed and decided he would if only a little.

Lance locked eyes with Keith “What you say cuts deep,” he glanced at Shiro “Both of you. I looked up to you both, but I can take it. I know my faults, I know where I need improvement, and Hunk’s right, I do try…”

Lance’s voice had gotten soft as it trailed off, his eye’s having found themselves trained on the floor directly in front of his feet, he could feel the pitying gaze of the other three “All you are doing is vocalizing thoughts I’ve had a thousand times over,” Lance shook himself out of it and looked up again, Shiro and Keith stood in front of him ”but what I can’t take is you putting down my best friend when he has done nothing wrong.”

Lance had just about burned out, getting angry was exhausting. He was done with being frustrated for today, he turned on his heel and stalked out of the room, initially heading back to his room before opting to go to the only place he knew he couldn’t be disturbed. Blue.

When you originally pulled the invitation from your mailbox you thought it had been yet another wedding invitation from one of your college friends. The elaborate gold writing on the black envelope, wrapped in actual lace. It was easy to assume from its elegance that it would be something like that.

keith and allura + growing stronger by letting go of the past

since i have yet to find another post that goes into detail about just how much keith’s arc in ‘the blade of marmora’ and allura’s arc in ‘crystal venom’ parallel one another, i went ahead and did the thing myself !! i find it both curious and kinda enchanting how alike keith and allura are in so many respects. realizing these similarities while re-watching the show was far too riveting not to share my thoughts, so here they are ^^

random quotes from Super Best Friends play Final Fantasy XV

“I want him to just pick this thing [Carbuncle] up and eat it.”

“I remember that first trailer back when I was nine. This game took 85 years to come out.”

“Noctis looks like such an asshole I can’t stand it.”

In game: Find out what Gladiolus is weak to and let him have it.
Matt: “He’s weak to insults about his performance in the bedroom.”

“Prompto is the most boyband of them all.”

“When Noctis’s Papa Roach CD is done, the game is over.”

Patt: “I will rescue you buddy.” *revives Prompto*
Matt: “I rescued you with my magical boy hands.”
Patt: “My magical boy hands for my magical boy bands.”

“When teaming up with your buddies nobody can stop the amount of dicks you draw on each others faces.”

*seeing Ifrit in the first cutscene*
Patt: “The fact that it’s a perfect naked man that will not leave his chair–”
Matt: “I feel like at the end of my life that’s what I’ll be fighting. And I will fail.”

*imitating Regis* “So your boybands doing shit huh, what, you’re gonna go on tour?”

“Gladio can you please button up your shirt it’s distracting everyone.”

“Gladiolus looks like he’s from The Bouncer. In fact he might be from The Bouncer for all we know.”

“Gladiolus and Ignis look like that one guy from The Bouncer in the cactaur outfit put into two people.”

*Matt, imitating Regis again* “Remember Noctis, every moment you live is a disappointment for me.”

“And please… do something about your hair. It’s a constant embarrassment.”

*Patt, now imitating Regis* “You look like such an asshole, but, you’re my asshole.”

“It would really suck if he was doing the deed with Lunafreya, and he yells out some other dumb girls name in the Final Fantasy universe. Like ‘Oh! Yunalesca!’ and she’s like ‘Who the fuck is Yunalesca?’ ”

Matt: “Push the fucking car losers!”
Patt: “Push the car, and make sure that Gladio’s butt is the one that’s really in center there.”

“Why is Prompto always on the floor?”

“Wait, I don’t wanna play as Gladiolo– Gladiyolo, god–”

*after seeing Noctis summon his weapons* “No wonder she’s getting married, she probably saw that and went ‘Yes!’ ”

*sees Ignis walk off in the background* *Matt bursts into laughter* “Ignis is just like ‘fuck it I’m out of here!’.”

“I’m seeing photos people are posting of these guys taking selfies with themselves walking around in the background.”

Patt: “I just did a backflip slash for no reason, other than I think Noctis thought it was cool.”
Matt: “Well it’s because he knew Prompto was watching.”

“That should be the Logo of our channel – stop bitching, start killing.”

*Prompto starts singing the FF victory tune* “AHH!!– AH YEAH! ALL RIGHT, YOU WON ME OVER!”

*Ignis explains the Crownsguard attire* Patt: “Oh, so that’s why. They’re forced to dress boyband.”
Matt: “Or forced to dress like they just raided a Hot Topic.”
Patt: “It’s the law… So the King, that King? [Regis] Was like ‘everyone has to dress like this in my army’.”
Matt: “Okay, you know what? Fair enough. I never realize that.”
Patt: “That King is the weirdest old man in the world.”

*imitating Regis* “I want all the hot boys to dress in leather in my army.”

“Cindy, and one of these guys, I wanna help that along.”

Matt: “You know what this place [Hammerhead] needs!? It need one of those big inflatable floaty guys!”
Patt: “And it should be a cactaur.”
Matt: “Yeah! OH!! That makes me so excited!”
Patt: “There might be in here, who knows?”

“Why aren’t your lips moving Ignis?”

(Archie Andrews x Reader): You’re such a cliche

Summary: Archie and Reader (a cheerleader) develop feels and eventually a relationship, the only problem is that the reader doesn’t want it to get out.

A/N: (apologies for spelling and grammar) This is a different style from what I normally do so I hope you enjoy it :)

It had all started after an away football game. (Y/N) had been sitting at the front of the bus like she usually did (she claimed she got carsick; she was really just trying to avoid most of the other cheerleaders so she could read in peace) and Archie sat down next to her.

“Is this seat taken?” Archie asked, causing (Y/N) to look up from her book.

“I guess not,” You mumbled, a little annoyed to be distracted since you were just getting wrapped up in the story.

“Sorry, there’s no other seats, otherwise I wouldn’t bother you, you seem pretty pulled into that book.” He explains, looking a bit nervous.

You take pity on him, “That’s okay, I just usually sit up here to take a break from the girls, I love them but sometimes they’re a little too much.” You admit.

Archie nods, “I totally get that, I have the same thing with a lot of the guys on the team, that’s why it helps to have good friends who aren’t only thinking about football.”

You shrug, not wanting to admit that you don’t really have any good friends, just the other cheerleaders.

“So what are you reading?” Archie asked.

And that’s how it all started. The two spent the whole ride back to Riverdale talking about everything from books to music to politics.

After that the two found each other more and more often, they started partnering up in the classes they shared and Archie made it a habit to always sit next to (Y/N) on the bus to and from away games. Any time anyone asked if they were dating they would both scoff and reject the idea, both convinced that the other one didn’t feel the same way.

You were at a party, you hated parties, the music was always too loud, it was too hot, and everyone around you was too drunk. Cheryl was hanging on to you, her arm around your shoulders, “Isn’t she so tacky?” She asked you, her words slurring together.

“Who?” You asked dumbly, realizing you’d zoned out of the conversation.

“Veronica, of course” Cheryl sighed, “God, you’re so stupid sometimes. Anyway, I think she’s probably had work done, I mean…”

You nodded along as Cheryl droned on, not noticing Archie standing nearby watching you.

Eventually you excused yourself to go to the bathroom and carefully pried Cheryl’s arm off of you. When you got up to the bathroom you stared at yourself in the mirror for a long time, wondering how you’d gotten yourself in this situation. After washing your face quickly you opened the door only to stumble into Archie.

“Oh, hey!” You say cheerfully, putting on the facade you’d perfected in recent years.

“Why do you act that way when you’re around the other cheerleaders?” He asked bluntly.

“What way?” You asked, playing dumb, even though you knew exactly what he was getting at.

“It’s like you’re a completely different person when you’re with me, I don’t get it.” He tells you.

“It’s just easier.” You respond, defensively crossing your arms over your chest, “It makes it easier to fit in.”

Archie sighed, “Yeah, you’re a cheerleader, but you’re also so much more than that. Don’t let people like Cheryl dumb you down.”

“I appreciate that Archie, I really do, but if I was myself around these people…I’d probably get kicked off the team.” You reply, “Now if you’ll excuse me,” You add before slipping past him and making your way back to your post next to Cheryl.

The next weekend was an away game. It was a brutal loss and Archie was unusually quiet on the bus ride home because of it.

“Hey, you played great tonight, you know that right?” You said softly.

“Thanks, (Y/N), but I still feel bad, I could have played better,” Archie replied.

“Hey, I’m sure next weekend will be better,” You say as you gently and hesitantly intertwine your fingers with his own. Your brain tells you not to, that this is a bad idea and you’re slowly becoming everything you hate but another party of you can’t bear that you’re not touching him more.

“(Y/N)…” Archie mutters softly, looking down at your hands and then back up at your face.

“Is this okay?” You ask quietly.

“Yes,” He replies quickly.

You smile softly as you turn to look straight ahead again.

They held hands the rest of the ride, neither one wanted to be the first one to let go. Once they got back to school and everyone started getting off (Y/N) quickly snatched her hand away before anyone could notice it.

“Can I walk you home?” Archie asked, surprising you. The two of you never spent time together outside of school and stuff for football, especially not alone.

You smiled and nodded, “Sure.”

As they walked Archie reached for your hand again.

“So what are we?” Archie asked as you walked up to your porch.

“I don’t know,” You replied, turning to face him, “I’m turning into everything I used to make fun of, but I don’t hate it.”

“Well, do you want to date?” Archie asked.

“I think so,” You admitted, “Do you?”

“Of course, ever since I first sat next to you on the bus I’ve been trying to figure out how to ask you out.” He replied, blushing slightly.

“Then you should pick me up tomorrow night at seven,” You reply as you unlocked your door.

Their first date was at Pops, they were having a good time, talking about their families and how dysfunctional they are when some cheerleaders walked in and made their way over to where they were sitting.

“Oh my god! Are you guys on a date?” One of them asked excitedly.

“No,” You quickly replied, “We’re just hanging out,” You lied quickly and believably.

“Oh, sorry,” She replied awkwardly, “Well…we’ll leave you to it…” She said before the group walked away.

“Sorry about that,” You said, turning to Archie, “They’re just…”

“Why did you say we weren’t on a date?” He asked.

“They-There are these really dumb stereotypes, you know, the whole cheerleader and the football player cliche? I just, I can’t become that.”

“But isn’t that what we are?”

“No! We’re more than that, we’re more complex, but that’s how those girls will see us, and I just can’t-”

“Do you want to be in a relationship with me?”

“I-yes.” You admit, “But we’re some fantasy straight out of the 1969s.”

“Why is that so bad? What we have is real, isn’t it?”

“Yes,” You reply again, “Archie, I want to be with you, but if we are, we can’t tell anyone, at least not the football team and cheerleading squad.”

“Are you ashamed at the thought of being with me?”

“No, I just wanted what we have to be just between us, it’s too special to taint with everyone else.”

And for two months they did just that, they went on dates, spent time together, did everything that couples do, the only difference was that they didn’t tell anyone one at school, or act in any slightly romantic way when they were around other kids.

Archie had a hard time keeping it from his close friends. Betty, Veronica, Kevin-and even Jughead-sometimes tried to set him up with people, but he just kept avoiding their ideas, claiming that he was too busy with music and football and work to have a girlfriend. None of them really bought it (I mean, it hadn’t stopped him before when he was with Grundy or Valerie) but they had a hard time figuring out why Archie would be so adamant about it. Kevin was the one who first brought up the fact that he was hiding a secret girlfriend but everyone else thought that was highly unlikely, they’d never seen him act more than friendly with anyone, and none of the girls he hung out with stood out more than others.

But, like all secrets, the truth came out eventually.

You and Archie were at Pops one Friday night, enjoying your tradition of splitting a hot fudge malt and a basket of fries when the ice queen herself, Cheryl, walked in.

“Well, well, well, what are you two doing here? Out on a date?” She asks as she saunters over.

“Cheryl, for the last time, we’re not dating, we’re just hanging out.” You reply with an eyeroll as you glance over at her.

“Well, you two do an awful lot of hanging out for two people claiming to just be friends.” She comments, “Every weekend someone finds the two of you here, just the two of you,”

“Cheryl, everyone hangs out here all the time, what are you trying to say?”

“I’m just saying that if you’re not dating Archie, you should give someone else a ride on the ginger stallion.” She replies suggestively as she gives Archie a meaningful glance, “What do you say Archie?”

“I um-” He stalls, glancing at you nervously.

“Oh come on Cheryl, just because Archie doesn’t want to make out with you doesn’t mean he’s dating someone,” You cutting, starting to feel a bit defensive.

“Well, that didn’t stop him last time.”

“What?” You ask, feeling completely thrown for a loop.

“At my family’s maple syrup tapping,” Cheryl replies.

“Oh, that doesn’t matter, that was before we were dating,” You reply before realizing what you just said and claiming your hand over your mouth and glancing at Archie with wide eyes.

“Ha! I knew it!” She shouts triumphantly, “Jesus Christ, you guys made that way harder than it needed to be. I can’t wait to tell everybody, this is so exciting.”

“Great…” You mutter as she walks away, already typing on her phone (presumably texting the group chat the ‘good news’), “Shit,” You mutter as you rub your hands over your face. From across the table Archie reaches over and grabs your hands away and holds them in his own.

“Hey,” He says softly, “It’s going to be okay, we’ll figure out how to deal with this, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure you’re okay with this.”

“What did I ever do to deserve you?” You ask, giving him a loving smile, “I guess now that the cats out of the bag we should just embrace it, you know? I was getting kind of tired of hiding it anyway.”

“Good, because I’ve been wanting you to wear my letter jacket for ages now, and I think Monday would be a great opportunity for you to debut that look.”

“You’re such a cliche.”

“You know you love it”

FFXV Second Play Through Thoughts

So I am doing a second play through (Just finished Chapter 7) of FFXV (of course as a new game + because who doesn’t enjoy slaughtering beasts and demons at a level 80 when they are level 10?) and there are so many things I am noticing that I did not notice the first time:

- First play through I never truly appreciated how beautiful of a man Ignis really is in this game.

- I feel like Ignis had to be aware to some degree that the reason the wedding was being held in Altissia was because Regis felt something might go down.  I can’t fully believe that Ignis didn’t have some inkling on what was to come.

- It became very apparent to me how ok Lunafreya and Noct were about marrying each other.  I mean they weren’t ok with the circumstances, but the fact that it would be to each other they seemed totally fine with.

- Ignis’s back flips during battle are everything.

- I can’t not believe that the boys didn’t give Prompto shit for taking a ‘self defense’ training class with Cor prior to departing on the trip.

- Cor clearly cares about the well being of Prompto.

- I get Xenia Warrior Princess vibes from Monica.  I wish we got more screen time from her.

- If I was Gladio I would have been way more angry that Iris didn’t call me first before Noct.

- Ardyn is still the personification of stranger danger.

- The first time around I missed that Sania was at Hammerhead and Gladio was talking with her.  I could only imagine what they were talking about lol.

- I feel like Takka lived for some in depth conversations about recipes with Ignis.

- Prompto clearly had it bad for Cindy, I mean pick that man’s jaw up off the floor bad for her.  His feelings for Aranea and Iris were more casual “hey those girls are cute…” sort of thing.

- Noctis was a cocky little shit in Chapter 2.

- I still think the guys are idiots for taking Ardyn up on his ‘offers’.

- Did Carbuncle always photo bomb my photos or did that come from an update?  Because it’s god damn cute.

- Base Busting is still as funny as it was when I did my first play through and Prompto really needs to start a side business doing this.

- The little details are still amazing the second time around.

- Apparently Iris can ride Chocobos and I never knew and her Chocobo in my game was hot pink and it was everything.

- Iris should have just come along for the whole journey, she is queen.

- Talcott talking about his late grandfather still breaks my fucking heart.

- Replaying the game makes me think that the girl Gladio meets during the ten years of darkness is someone who works at the power plant in Lestallum.  I think the big guy has a thing for built women.

- I haven’t watched Kingsglaive but is Loqi and Caliglio in that movie?  They just seem so random in this game to me.

- I feel like Dustin is the ninja assassin in the crownsguard and you can’t convince me otherwise.

- I love Prompto, don’t get me wrong, but my god sometimes he can be such a whiny bitch. It makes me wonder how on earth Ignis put up with that on their journey.  Like I just envision Ignis yelling at him in the Regalia saying “he should have went when they were at the last rest stop and that he needs to hold it” since he will not pull over just so he can go pee and then Noct making some comment about going off the side and Ignis getting more mad lol.

- How many books did Gladio bring on this trip?  So far I have seen a total of 3 different books.

- I get the Ignis/Aranea shippers…I 100% get it now and I am on board.  I just want them to out sass each other and end up making out.

- I also am 100% in Gladnis hell on second play through.

- And I am still on the Noct/Iris train.  I am really loving Iris more playing the second time.

- I need more Cor in my life, thank the six he is in Gladio’s DLC.

- Cid reminds me of a guy that has seen some shit in his life time and will never let you forget that fact.

- I really need to know what the Reggie/Cid fallout was.

- Even on second play through I still needed to give Prompto Chocobos over Gladio needing to make sure his sister was ok in Lestallum.  He just needs to ride those Chocobos all day!

- I used to think I had a bad coffee addiction, until I was introduced to Mr. Ignis Scientia who quite literally gets cravings during battles and at inappropriate times.  Like, Iggy seriously get your shit together.

- This game had some very under used strong female characters and I am very upset they were not used to their fullest.

- Aranea needs a spin off game.

- When Aranea is talking with Prompto about MT’s being demons my heart just broke and I cried a thousand tears.  I am still unclear as to if he really knew he was an MT at that point (I mean I know he knows he was from Niffelheim) but the fact that he might have just made that conversation even harder to hear.

- Anyone else get the vibe that maybe Cindy either swings both ways or is into the ladies based on the fact that she coaxed Holly with a dinner?  Just something about the way Holly talked about it made me get that vibe.  Maybe it’s not so much that she is married to her job as it is that she plays for the other team.  Or maybe Holly is really into her?  I am ok with either.

- Dino is just a gigolo trying to make that dolla.

- Ardyn is still stranger danger 101.

- The Titan battle is hands down the best battle of the whole game.

- Also I don’t know how I missed the Fallgrove tomb being robbed and having no weapon in it the first play through I did.

- Gladio is way too casual about his scars when he rejoins the group.  I would have never let him just brush it off like that.  I mean the man’s chest looks like he just had open heart surgery.

- Also how could Noctis not know the hunter in the power plant was Gladio…it was painfully obvious even when you had the sound on mute.

- I definitely yelled at my TV screen “Fuck you Holly I am getting these demons even if I melt to death in this power plant” when she came over the radio telling me to abort the mission.

- I still overwhelmingly really love this game.

I will post again when I play through the rest of the game.  But I can not wait for the Gladio DLC at the end of the month.  Cor and him are looking so fine in that trailer.  Also anyone else getting the vibes that Cor is really immortal from that?  If he is I called it months ago lol.

Sine, Sine! I'm sorry to bother you, but do you have any good tips for writing 616 Tony! I just love your characterization so much :)

Oh, boy, an opportunity to talk about my fave! I was actually sitting here thinking, gosh, I hope someone asks me to write meta about my favorite characters sometime soon! And then you did, so thank you, anon! (And thank you, I’m glad you like my characterization.)

“Sorry,” Daryl mumbled. “For takin’ up your trailer.”

Paul moved around him, avoiding touching him. He knew Daryl didn’t like it very much unless it initiated it, or if it was by his family. The only person Paul had seen Daryl so free with was Rick and Carol, but beyond that, Daryl kept to himself when it came to those things.

“Don’t worry,” Paul responded easily. “Can I ask though?” he watched as Daryl sat on the cot that previously belonged to Maggie. “Why my trailer? I mean, Maggie is in the big house now that Gregory is gone, there's room, space for you to-”

“Maggie needs her space.” he mumbled, getting back up. He walked around the small space, looking like a caged animal. Paul sat on his own bed, watching him. “She’s gonna have a baby soon, Enid is in there, it’s alright.” he shrugged.

Paul watched Daryl move around the trailer with a small smile on his face. Daryl was moving around, looking through Paul’s things without asking, opening the small closets and the bathroom door.

Paul cocked his head, grinning. “You could relax you know. I’m not keeping anything weird hidden.”

you're the only person I could think of to share this with, but watching Regis in Kingsglaive on the fuckening throne stairs made me scream inside. GET! THE! KING!!! A! STAIRLIFT! He is SUFFERING!!! FUCK THE MARBLE, HELP THE MAN! a SLOW and REGAL Nyoom! up those evil, bajillion year old stairs.

“I know I said I’d never take advantage of being friends with the King and his personal advisors, but screw it I’m doing taking advantage.” You decided to the one thing you promised not to do when you officially started working for the crown and that was to bring up work in a private setting.

The folder you dropped onto the dining table was thick enough to make a decent sound as it hit the solid surface. King Noctis Lucis Caelum, Advisors Ignis Scientia and Glaives Gladiolus Amicitia and Prompto Argentum all collectively groaned.

“That sounds likes like a sizable folder of work.” Ignis chimed. “Must you bring it up during dinner?”

“Would you rather I ruin dessert?” You dropped back into your chair and crossed your legs.

“No thanks!” Prompto was quick to respond and reached for the folder first. He leafed through the initial documentation but slowed as he saw the pages of… architecture? He hummed, still with a silver spoon in his mouth. “Mmm, wass wit th’ blerpernts—sorry—” He took the spoon out of his mouth. “What’s with the blueprints?” Prompto handed the folder over to Noctis who then quietly scanned the brief while eating his dinner.

Ignis was quiet, but then slowly nodded. “Ah, this is regarding that particular matter that I wasn’t able to bring up with the other advisors.” He did feel bad about it. While he could understand why you thought the matter was important, it was very hard to convince the other advisors of why that was. It was dismissed before he could explain, which was unfortunate.

“I appreciate your attempt, Iggy, but I honestly believe this is a critical issue and it needs to be considered.” Your gaze travelled to Noctis who looked up just in time to catch your look. “Which is why I’m really sorry I’m bringing it up now, guys, but I want you to hear me out.”

Before you could even finish your sentence, Gladio had already lined up a pea and flicked it at your face with a grin. “We know you wouldn’t bring anything to us in private unless you really thought it was important. I’m curious, though, what is it?” He was often dealing with security, patrols and hunters so if it was an issue outside of those topics, Gladio didn’t really have time to keep within the loop.

“Palace infrastructure upgrades.” Noctis’ lips quirked. “I can see where you’re coming from in the introductory brief, but this is going to be hard to push. You know we’ve already spent a decent amount of funds to get Insomnia back on its feet. The board are probably gonna see this as basic renovations.”

“But it’s not.” You frowned. “This place is in need of a serious upgrade. We still have a majority of staff that worked with your father and with all the respect in the world, they’re getting older. A lot of them are finding it hard to get around. Not only, that I put together a team for an operational health and safety audit and this palace is pretty much a death trap for anyone who has any kind of physical disability.”

“That is absolutely wonderful to hear.” Ignis chuckled under his breath and you considered copying Gladio and flicking a pea at the advisor’s face, but knowing him he’d likely dodge it. “When did you put all this together? When did you have the time?”

“I—um—” You stammered, but then pursed your lips for a moment. So you had been spending a lot of you free time organising the brief since you were so passionate about the issue. “It doesn’t matter! All you need to know it’s done. And you laugh Ignis, but you are an extraordinary person. The rest of the staff are ordinary and I’ve noticed that the new people we’re hiring aren’t very physically diverse because one of our job listing criteria states that you have to be physically able to navigate the palace. I mean, that’s fair enough, but it also isn’t.” You supposed there were arguments for both sides, but it didn’t seem fair.

Noctis was quiet as you explain, as were the rest of the Chocobros. “My father had a lot of trouble getting around.” The King suddenly spoke with a soft voice. “After his leg was injured, we could all see how much he struggled sometimes getting up to the throne and getting back down again, but he was too proud to ask for help.” A melancholy expression blanketed Noctis’ face, but then he smiled. “I appreciate the hard work you’re putting into this issue. I knew I was right to hire you; you not only care about Insomnia’s citizens, but also the staff who work for the crown. Thank you.”

Your face flushed and you bowed your head. The other Chocobros crowed at your cute expression and you were elbowed at either side by Prompto and Gladio. “No, it’s nothing like that!” You exclaimed, but the men still laughed. “I just thought maybe this place was due for an upgrade and—oh—”

“We’re just teasing. You’re doing a great job.” Gladio threw an arm around you. “So you’re exempt from the punishment of breaking the ‘work at the dinner table’ rule.”

“There was a punishment?!”

“Something like ‘no desserts from Iggy’ for a week.” Prompto recited and you whined. Noooo, Ignis’ desserts were the best! “Although, you obviously broke the ‘no working on projects in your free time’ rule. Maybe we should punish you for that one? Whaddya think, guys?”

You wailed, “No! Please don’t, I’ll do my best to follow the rules from now on!”

One day you picked up a leaflet in a café which offered free meetings, where one can talk about any personal issues in true confidence and find some help and support. Being the curious person that you were you decided to go. You were studying psychology at the time and you figured any extra experience that can be gained from going to one of those meeting can only help your development, right?

Fast forward a few years – you were now with a degree and a solid friendship with Sam. So strong was the relationship, that he offered you a ‘position’ on the Avengers’ team. The superheroes struggled with their own demons and insecurities, just as much as anyone else, and needed professional support every now and then. Confident in your abilities Sam had arranged for you to move in the Tower and serve as the team psychologist.

As time went on, it became more and more common for Shiro to let his guard down.  It took weeks for him to even doze with the door open, much less with another living being in the room.  Even the mice moving around could wake him on a bad day.  Or he’d let the responsible leader thing drop for a few seconds, cracking a dark joke or goofing off with the rest of them.

Those were the times Pidge liked best.  She understood and respected the need to be their commander some of the time, especially during missions or training.  There was the big picture they needed to be focused on, and Shiro seemed to make it his personal goal to make sure they were always moving toward that.

But Pidge didn’t really want to be a military unit.  Yes, it had its uses, and she couldn’t deny the effectiveness of the hierarchy in the field.  It had its place, but it wasn’t what made Pidge stick around.  Some days, the urge to give it all up and go searching for her family was still strong.  It wasn’t Voltron or the universe that made her stay.  It was the times they were a different kind of family that kept her around.

You felt a tug on your heart, a little disappointed in Sam. You wondered how things were going to be at the facility now. Crawling out of bed you nudged around the floor, looking for your panties.

Hearing the door click open you froze, using your hands to try to cover your naked body. Staring at the door like a deer in the headlights your heart beat in your throat as you waited to see who it was. As they stepped inside from the hallway you relaxed. Already so comfortable with your nudity around him.

You blended in with the multitude of other marvel blogs, you got a few notes and messages but didn’t think much of it, it was just a bit of fun, a way to wind down after long missions. That was until you were attending comic con with Pietro, Clint and Wanda and the interviewer got onto the subject of fans.

The pretty blonde leaned closer with the mic, “Do you have any idea of how big your fan base is?”

“Tony gets truckloads of hate mail, does that count?” Clint smirked and the interviewer giggled.

“Pietro you’re especially popular on tumblr,” the interviewer carried on and Pietro gave her a smug grin and shifted about in his chair to lean closer to her, his chest puffing up a little more.

“Really?” he was obviously trying to sound coy but you and Wanda rolled your eyes at each other.

“There’s quite a lot of fan fiction about you, it can get pretty…graphic…”

“You got me interested now."

"What is this tumblr?”

Clint groans,“It’s the one Tony has the secret blog on, he’s probably read all that fan fiction.”

Reaching Out, Moving On

I don’t know where this will go, but I’ve sat myself down at my computer, brought up a blank page and dipped my pen into the fire burning inside me. It’s a toxic stew of angst, loss, confusion and indescribable pain. Whenever things in my life become untethered and upside down, like the past week has been, I have always found some direction and sense through writing. I have no expectations here of what will come out of me. I suspect it will be raw and unstructured, with no real direction or point. This will be completely off the top of my head.

The Bunker/3:17am

Oliver was sitting in Felicity’s chair, her computers turned on. Images from their past danced on the screens, images that sent memories into his heart like snow gently falling on the world.

It was quiet in the Bunker. No sounds of crime fighting or superheroing going on. Just Oliver sitting alone and thinking about the past couple weeks. He had managed to enact one of his special talents during that time—driving people closest to him away. Thea, John, Quinton—and more recent, Rene, Curtis and Dinah. Oliver thought about the argument he had with Felicity just before he went to break John out of that Federal prison. She assumed that he was lying to her again, and sarcastically said that she admired his consistency. Consistency—that was a good word to describe Oliver. He was consistent. In making bad decisions, in misplacing his anger, in taking unnecessary risks.

But his biggest mistake was Felicity. For over a year now, Oliver had pretty much kept his distance with her. At first, he thought he was honoring her need for space. But over time, it wasn’t that anymore. It grew into this distance, a distance he created in the first place when he lied to her about William and basically stomped all over her trust and abandonment issues. He hurt her in the worst way he could have thought of, if he intentionally made the decisions he did. It was not different than what Merlin or Slade or Ra’s or Darkhe would have done. It was villainous. And every time he left her and went to Central City, he was ruining the best thing that had ever happened in his life. And he knew it.
On one of the computer screens if front of him, Oliver felt another lurch in his heart as he watched his very public proposal to Felicity. It was a magical night, for both of them. He really was the happiest man on the face of the earth. The way Felicity lit up when he got down on his knees and asked her to be his wife—it was a moment he had thought about a lot over the past year. And then Felicity was shot and paralyzed and everything changed. Oliver tried to refocus on taking care of her, but at the same time, he wasn’t willing to give up on his visits to William and getting to know him. And he paid for it with the decisions he made.

On another screen, Oliver watched he and Felicity travelling the world together, a little video montage that Felicity put together. It was almost too painful to watch the scenes. Both of them were extremely happy during this time, coming together and sharing themselves with each other in a way both wanted for so long. Oliver completely lost himself in Felicity during that time. He was in love, perhaps for the first time in his life. It was all consuming and it opened up a part of himself he denied his heart for so many years.

Finally, Oliver switched to the last screen. It showed his impeachment hearing, and the reason he was now alone down here in the Bunker. When the vote came back and they stripped him of his Mayoral duties, Oliver felt like the final piece of Prometheus’s victory had fallen into place. Island Oliver reared his ugly head and five years of growth was ripped away. He started to push his loved ones away again. He went into survival mode. Thea took the biggest brunt of this, leaving town and disappearing from Oliver’s life again. He blamed her for his political fall. She had gone behind his back and used Felicity to do her dirty work. The cover-up he and Adrian enacted over Detective Malone’s death basically made Green Arrow a fugitive again. John and the rest of the team began to live in a vacuum where Team Arrow was concerned. All of them were at risk now, whenever they put on their costumes and went out to save the city. Everything Oliver had built over the past five was now compromised. He could no longer be a hero in the light of day as Mayor and he could not save the city at night as Green Arrow.

All of it was his fault. He made bad choices—with Susan Williams (which cost her her life,) with Thea, (which drove her out of his life) John and the rest of the team (which forced them to go underground.) Oliver had never been one to quit, but watching everything he built over that fife year span crash down around him, the dejection was overpowering. He actually was thinking of leaving Star City, his life and legacy. Yeah, Felicity would be proud of him for that move.

Oliver suddenly reached out and switched off the computer screens. There was nothing left for him on them. He pushed back from the console and was just about to climb out of Felicity’s chair, when he heard the opening of the elevator door and the clicking of heels across the Bunker floor.

It was the sound of his past coming to haunt him. The ghost of his failures.

Felicity knew she would find Oliver here. She also knew that he was probably blaming himself for all that has happened.

“Oliver, what’s going on? Talk to me?”

Oliver spun around to face her. “Talk to you?” he said to her, an expression of doubt crossed his face. “Now you want to talk. Felicity, we should have “talked” months ago.”

Felicity shook her head. “Oliver, don’t give me that crap. You were wrapped up in Susan then, and before that, I had Billy. Talking was not on the menu.”

“Felicity, you insisted that we both move on. I never wanted to. I’ve always felt, and kind of still do, that what happened between us was not worth putting both of us through this past year’s hell.”

Felicity looked back at him, as if she needed to explain herself to a five-year old. “Oliver, I told you that I wasn’t going to listen to any more lies.” A sudden anger went through her. “Goddamn you, Oliver.  You made me feel so not wanted in your life. You some woman you slept with ten years ago over me. I thought we had found or niche together.”

Oliver lowered his head. “Felicity,” he mumbled.” “I’m sorry…”

“What?” she asked him.

Oliver looked up and into Felicity’s eyes. “I said I’m sorry. You’re right. You had nothing to do with what happened between us. I am so sorry that I put you through that.”

Felicity stared back at him and that sudden anger vanished. “Oliver…I…uh…I’m sorry too.”

“What for? I just said that you didn’t do anything wrong.”

She shook her head. “Yeah, I did,” she said to him. “I’m sorry that I ruined the fantasy you wanted in Ivy Town. I loved…I love you and it wasn’t fair.”

Oliver did not know what to say.

Felicity reached out and put her hand on his shoulder. “Oliver, both of us contributed to what happened. It does take two. I have this habit of running away when pain takes hold of me. After William, that’s what I did. I have discovered that this is another thing we have in common. You had your island and I had my past.” Felicity paused and let out a sigh. “Oliver,” she went on. “I have a place now where I go when something or someone makes upsets my life.”

“What are you talking about?

“Well, when Billy died, I felt a darkness go through me. It was frightening, but it also seemed familiar to me. Like I had seen and felt it before. And I did, Oliver. I saw it in you. Over the past five years, I learned to recognize it. I always felt it was my job to pull you away from it. But it’s not. So, when I felt my own start to consume me, I was scared that there was no one to pull me back. I burned those bridges and let it take me over.”

Oliver looked at her and understanding softened his features. “Felicity,” he replied. “I never wanted that for you. I never wanted you to experience that part of my life.”

Felicity smiled at him. “Oliver, you did not make those choices for me. I decided to come into your life. I decided to take the bad with the good. I told you in Nanda Parbat that you changed my life. You did. If anything, your darkness made it possible to recognize my own.”

“So what now?” Oliver asked her. “Do we hug or kiss or just acknowledge that we are damaged people?”

Felicity removed her hand from his shoulder and touched his face. “Oliver, that would be wonderful. But we still have work to do.”

“Work…I don’t think…”

“Oliver, I told you that there is not a chance that I was going to leave. I’m still here.”

Oliver smiled at her and reached up to cover her hand.

Felicity removed it from his face and stood still in front of him. A look of determination crossed her face. “Oliver, I want you to marry me and I want to have your kids. But first, that son of a bitch Prometheus is still out there.”

Oliver could only look back at her, dumbfounded and happy at the same time.

“Let’s go root that bastard out,” she said to him. “We are a team, and I am not letting you go through this alone.”

In that way, both Oliver and Felicity moved on.

Ficlet: Seven Minutes in Heaven (rated T)

Thanks to @jhelenoftrek for the prompt, which evolved from a chat about being stuck in a closet with Chakotay for seven minutes. Obviously.

— 420 seconds —

The only light in the storage locker came from the faint red glow of the locking mechanism. The soundproofing was so complete that, as soon as the door was sealed, they couldn’t hear a thing from the corridor outside.

“D’you think they saw us?”

She felt, rather than saw, Chakotay shrug; it was close quarters in here, and she wiggled a little to give him some room. His sharp intake of breath startled her.

“What is it? Did I hurt you?”

“No,” he said tightly. “Just … don’t wriggle like that.”

“Why not?” She half-turned, squinting to see his face, and her hip pressed into his groin. Her eyes widened. “Oh.”

“Don’t mention it.”

Nervous, Kathryn shifted again and caught herself when Chakotay’s hands settled firmly on her hips. “Kathryn, for the love of God, would you keep still?”

She nodded, holding herself rigid. The seconds ticked by in silence.

“Do you suppose they’ve gone yet?” she asked eventually.

— 360 seconds —

She felt the soft cotton of Chakotay’s undershirt brush her cheek as he leaned in a little, straining to hear something, anything, through the solid duranium hatch. “I can’t tell. Did you see how many of them there were?”

“There were five or six in the corridor. Who knows how many are on board, though?” She sighed. “If only we had our commbadges.”

“It was your idea to reroute all communications to Tuvok,” he pointed out, somewhat testily.

“I didn’t want any interruptions while I whipped your butt at hoverball. And whose idea was it to hide in here, anyway? The armoury is one door down and it’s a lot more spacious.”

“Did you want to risk them seeing us?” he demanded. “We’re safe in here.”

“Personally I’d feel safer in a room full of weapons.”

He muttered something that involved the phrases “your tongue” and “plenty sharp enough”, and she stiffened, wishing the impact of her glare wasn’t so lessened by the low lighting.

“Do you have something to say to me, Commander?”

— 300 seconds —

He sighed. “No. I’m sorry, Captain. I’m just – anxious to get out of here.”

Unexpectedly, a lump rose in her throat. Had she so badly ruined their friendship with her recent irrational – no, be honest Kathryn, insane – behaviour that he couldn’t even stand to be in the same room as her anymore?

The hoverball game had been her tentative attempt to get their friendship back on track. Boy, had that backfired. There were God knew how many aliens running around her ship right now, and all the two of them could do was bicker with each other.

“I’m sorry, too,” she blurted.

To her surprise, he chuckled. “We keep apologizing to each other.”

“You have nothing to apologise for, Chakotay.” She turned to face him fully, her hand resting on his chest as she strained to see him in the almost-darkness. “And I’m sure I’m the last person you want to be stuck here with right now.”

“Hey,” he said, his hands tightening on her hips. “Don’t – that’s not it at all. It’s not that I don’t want to spend time with you.”

“Then what?” She crinkled up her nose in confusion.

— 240 seconds —

He huffed out a short laugh, and she shivered at the warmth of it tickling her hair. “It’s just that…. Well, being here with you, like this… it’s not easy for me. But not in the way you were assuming.”

She felt him shift on his feet and her heartbeat kicked up a little at the brush of his thigh against hers.

“You don’t realise what you do to me, Kathryn.”

Her eyes went wide at the low undercurrent of need in his voice. “I didn’t – I had no idea you still felt that way. Especially after –”

“Always,” he cut her off. “I’ve always felt this way.” He sounded resigned. “I probably always will.”

“Chakotay,” she said softly.

“Don’t worry about it, Captain. It’s my problem, not yours.”

Kathryn felt the warmth of his hands on her hips, not pressing or restraining, just holding, solid and tender and supportive. How like the man himself. She raised her other hand so that it, too, rested over his heart.

Her voice was low. “Why does it have to be a problem?”

— 180 seconds —

“Kathryn?” He sounded startled.

Swallowing the fears and the doubts and the remonstrations echoing in her head, she curled her fingers into his shirt. “I think we’ve established, especially recently, that we can’t function as a command team if we turn away from each other,” she tried to explain. “Our recent experiences were a wake-up call for me, Chakotay. It made me realise how important it is that we trust each other unconditionally.”

He lifted one hand to take hers, listening intently.

“And,” she hesitated, her other hand raising to rest against his jaw, “it made me realise just how important you are to me. As my first officer and my best friend, and…”

“And?” he almost whispered.

“And as more,” she said softly, sliding her arms around his neck.

— 120 seconds —

The wave of sensation that swept through her as his lips touched hers made her gasp.

In the faint light she pulled back to stare at him, reading the same shock in his eyes that she’d felt, like touching a live plasma relay. And then his arms were around her, hauling her close, and he was kissing her again, not lightly this time but with a need so intense she moaned.

All she wanted to do was to tear off his clothes so she could crawl inside his skin. She yanked up his shirt, spreading her hands over his stomach as he fumbled with the closure of her leggings. Hampered by the close quarters of the storage locker, their hands bumped each other’s in their haste to tug at fabric, their breath coming in gasps and groans. She whimpered impatiently and Chakotay abandoned her clothing in favour of sliding his hands under her thighs to lift her and press her back against the bulkhead.

— 60 seconds —

She stumbled, falling back against the hatch, and her hip bumped the locking mechanism. The latch popped open and the pair of them tumbled suddenly out into the corridor – which was, blessedly, empty. Chakotay leapt to his feet and hauled her upright, checking her over for bruises.

“I’m okay,” Kathryn assured him, hastily straightening her clothing. She couldn’t stop grinning, despite how risky their utter lack of control had been.

He put his hands on her shoulders. “No regrets?”

“Not one.” She cupped his cheek. “We should have dinner tonight. To talk.”

“Talk,” he gave her a dirty grin that made her shiver. “Yes.”

“Then, Commander, since the coast appears to be clear,” she stepped back and glanced pointedly along the corridor, “let’s go take back our ship.”

“Aye, Captain.”

As they fell into step toward the turbolift, he added, “I forgot to ask – why were you so keen to avoid the Markonians that you dragged me into a storage locker, anyway?”

She sent him a mock-outraged glance. “Who do you think gave me that damn plant?”

“Ah.” Chakotay’s dimples appeared as he leaned in close and whispered, “And here I was thinking that plant was my only chance to keep you immobilised long enough to kiss you…”

“Immobilised, huh?” She smirked at him. “Is that a particular fantasy of yours, Commander?”

The devilish gleam in his eye told her she had no idea what was about to hit her.

Well, I intended this to be pure fluff, but once I’d decided when it was set canon-wise, I knew I’d have to angst it up. If you know what episode this is set in, leave me a note! Also, at 1254 words I guess it’s slightly more than a ficlet. Oops.

My team, the BAU, and I were in San Francisco for a case. Our unsub was kidnapping women from bars across town, keeping them for 22 hours, than disposing of them after 24 hours.

“The latest victim is Suzy Whitewater. She is 28 years-old, single, and was found here on the bench around 7:30 a.m.” The detective led us towards the bench Suzy was sprawled across.

Yuri!!! on Ice Animation with MAPPA panel report

I had the chance to go to the MAPPA panel on Sunday at AnimeNEXT where they discussed some aspects of the production of Yuri!!! on Ice. In attendance were Junpei Tatenaka (lead figure skating animator), Noriko Ito (prop designer, lead animation supervisor), Takahiro Ogawa (animation producer), and Izumi Hirose (color designer).

The panel was about an hour long and they brought actual (paper!) production drafts which they showed via a desk camera as well as reference pages and files which they showed via their laptop. Note that no pictures or recordings were allowed during the panel, but I took notes on what they presented and added some screenshots of my own to reference what they showed us. (There’s a lot to write about so sorry if transitions are too abrupt or non-existent between topics)

If you’re interested, read below the cut!
