A few things about Andrew Minyard,,

- he makes other people tie his shoelaces for him
- hes a blanket monster, doesn’t even leave Neil the sheet ok, poor kid has to sleep in sweatpants and a hoodie in the winter
- secretly does a lot of research about it and only buys the best quality food for the cats
- he’s the only person in his apartment building that ever buys girls scout cookies but he always buys enough to make it worth their time stopping by, he has like 20 boxes of thin mints stashed in the freezer at all times
- he uses an electric toothbrush but it’s like a cheap ninja turtles one from target
- cooks and cleans but DOES NOT do dishes, he will literally let them pile up to the ceiling and then when there’s none left that are clean, if no one else does them, he’ll just throw them all away and go buy new ones
- (eventually they discover paper plates and plastic silverware)
- hates horror movies (not because they’re scary, it’s because they’re predictable)
- Neil is the first person (besides Andrew) to realize Andrew needs reading glasses, and he makes him get some and Andrew carries them with him all the time but only uses them when he absolutely has to
- “I dont need glasses, i dont want to see your ugly face”
- “shut up and try them on or I’m selling the car and buying a minivan.”
- he only does autographs for his kid fans
- once he gets on his pro team people (kevin and nicky) keep pushing him to dress in more colors instead of just black all the time so he gets a bunch of neon armbands and wears a different set every day,, hot pink,, lime green,, fucking yellow, obscenely bright orange,,, other than that his wardrobe doesn’t change
- learned how to sew when he was younger because none of his clothes ever fit right and he always has to make adjustments
- has a savings account that he puts money into every chance he gets and whenever neil asks about it he pulls these random excuses out of his ass (“it’s for candy”, “I’m gonna hire someone to hide your body after I kill you”, “I almost have enough to buy out Exites so that I can shut it down permanently") but it’s actually for the foxes’ kids

I just want to express how I respect BTS and BIGHIT for always coming out with new revolutionary concepts for each comeback. For example the way they dropped the trailer for Boy meet evil only 1 HOUR after announcing BTS comeback date. Then later dropped a short movie of each member. This time, the scale is even bigger: they are hiring actors and writers and making a mini drama to tell the story of each member. Can we also talk about how they ALL challenge themselves? Most of them think acting is hard and complicated but I am sure they will work hard to make another masterpiece. The theme (LOVE YOURSELF) is also very fitting with the current state of the world, where society’s standard is so high, you get compared to better people by family, friends, media and so on every day. Automatically your self-esteem gets lower. Loving oneself is important to keep going in life and BTS are here again to make sure we do not forget it. I am stanning the right group.

[…] Instead of doing that, we really tried to let these characters grow and change. We want to watch them become new and different people, in every film that we come up with. I didn’t want to just try to be a rehash of the first movie. I think people were surprised by the first movie, and people have been surprised by the second movie. I wanted to give people something new and different from what they already had.  - James Gunn

So, You Wanna Talk to Other Bloggers

A Guide

We all have those bloggers or mutuals we adore, and we’d love to reach out and plant the seeds of a bomb-diggity friendship, but then the anxiety sets in… I’m not interesting! I’ll just be a bother! I’m sure they have better things to do! I feel you, trust me, I think most of us feel shy, awkward, or anxious trying to make friends or join in on conversations (welcome to tumblr, home of anxiety-ridden everyone). BUT NO LONGER SHALL WE KEEP TO OURSELVES, MY BRETHREN. Really, though, booklr needs to rise and the number one way to do that is through conversation, comments, and reaching out to make friends.

Here are some tips for overcoming that pesky social anxiety!

  • Bloggers are just people! I don’t care how many thousands of followers they have, bloggers are all just people. I have a higher follower count, but I’m really just trying to manage adulthood without crying, like the majority of us. Whether they’re a super popular blogger or new on the scene, all of us are just people trying to live life, which really makes us all equal. We’re all on the same team so it’s okay to talk and reach out to one another <3
  • Bloggers love hearing from others! I think most of us wouldn’t be here if we didn’t want to talk to anyone. I’m sure there’s a few of us who aren’t too concerned with being social, but numerous bloggers love seeing comments, getting messages, or having people join conversations. This is social media, meaning being social is expected and conversing is welcome! Nothing makes me more excited than hearing from others! I used to have a lot of interaction on this blog and I miss the community feel. I know I’m not alone. Don’t you want to hear from others too? We’re all ready to talk but one of us has to make the first step.
  • Public platform. You’re watching a post as two bloggers discuss a book you love. You want to add something but… would that be butting in? NO. It’s not butting in. Blogging is public, all of this is out in the open. If people wanted others not to contribute, they’d have the conversation private on messenger! These conversations are out there, on your dash, and we’d love to hear what you’d add to the conversation!
  • You are not annoying. Really, friend, this goes with “all of us are people”. You think you’re annoying? I think I’m annoying. We’re all our own harshest critics. Chances are if you send me a message, I’ll be too busy trying not to seem super lame while thinking you must wish you never instigated this conversation. Take a deep breath, remember your perceptions of yourself are often too critical and send that message or post that comment!
  • Everyone is busy. Have you ever sent off a message and after a day or two of no response, you begin to deconstruct your message, noticing how ridiculous you are? No wonder they didn’t respond! I’m an idiot! Nope, nope, nope, you are not. We all have lives and sometimes that keeps us from responding right away. Don’t panic after reaching out and thinking you said the wrong thing. Nine times out of ten, people are just busy and haven’t got around to responding.

Okay, you think, I’ll try joining conversations or adding comments. But what if I want to shoot a message to someone but don’t know what to say!? Breaking the ice can be painful and if you’re not sure what to say, it can be a major roadblock to talking to someone. Here are some ideas:

  • Talk about something the blogger recently posted! If a blogger just posted a photo/review/discussion/etc you really liked, it’s a great way to segue into friendship! Send them a message with your thoughts and build from there!
  • Compliments! Everyone loves compliments! Is there something about this person you really like? Are they super nice? Do they take excellent photos? Do you rely on their book recommendations? Tell them! Telling someone you admire something they do are something about them is a great way to introduce yourself!
  • Talk about books! THIS IS BOOKLR. We’re all obsessed and armpit deep in books we want to read and obsess over. Ask about their favorite book! Give them a recommendation! Talk about that new movie adaptation! Books are an easy start because we all love ‘em! So use that love to help you make friends!
  • Be honest! I’m usually pretty frank with my messages. I’ll send someone an “I think you’re really cool and would love to be friends!” message and move from there. I now have several incredible friendships I’m immensely grateful for. It may seem awkward or blunt, but sometimes it’s easy just to be up front.

And remember, sometimes you just won’t click with people. Sometimes you’ll reach out to someone, the conversation fizzles and you don’t talk again. THAT’S OKAY! We’re all different and we’re all not going to become inseparable friends. If your attempt to reach out or talk doesn’t go anywhere, remember that it’s not you. And don’t let it stop you from trying again! Maybe the next conversation you join will introduce you to a lifelong pal! <3

I went to go see Jurassic World again, this time with my family. And as I was driving my little brother back to his house, he expressed disappointment that the original cast (bar the scientist and the t-rex) didn’t make appearances. Then he said something that set me off in a Jurassic Wonderland of wasted possibility.

“What I want to know is why the two kids weren’t running the place. Why was some strange lady in charge of the park, instead of Lex? Why was some navy guy in charge of the raptors instead of Tim?”

And I just… can you imagine what the movie would have been if that had been the case instead?

Imagine that at some point, there wasn’t a choice. Hammond’s will allowed for the continuation of the park, or a creation of a new one, and InGen was going to do it with or without Lex and Tim, but the kids remembered what happened to them when they were little. They remembered, and they knew it would happen again. Of course it would. But they agree to it, they go back, because they figure that they can at least be there to handle the fallout. So they go back, they help design things, they fight for every precaution and for every reactionary defense. The park will never be safe, but they’re going to do everything in their power to ensure that if it’s happening anyway, they’ve got their hands in it to ensure the least damage and loss possible.

So Lex get put in charge of the park- the computer system isn’t just something she uses- she fucking designed it. She designed it and worked on programming it. She was the one who designed the tracking system they use with all the dinosaurs because she needs to be able to assure herself of where every single one of them is at any time, and she carries a tablet with her that does just that- taps into the network and shows dino locations. She fights the board on every new carnivore they want to create; It’s a bad idea, she tells them. Carnivores eat meat which in case you have not noticed, humans happen to coincidentally be made of meat. She also doesn’t just track the dinosaurs- there’s no way anyone will ever suffer through what she and Tim and Grant did. Every visitor to the island has a wristband that talks to the mainframe and gives their location at all times.

And Tim, head of the animal care and behavior department with his wife, Kelly (you know, Ian Malcolm’s daughter from the second movie). They don’t just know know anything about the dinosaurs; they know EVERYTHING about these dinosaurs. Tim has Hammond’s hearteyes wonder mentality partnered with Grant’s thirst for knowledge and fueled by his own curiosity and experiences. Kelly has her dad’s caution and her mom’s free spirit and drive for pushing boundaries. They are there for every birth, and have their hands in the raising and care of all the dinosaurs. Like Grant, Tim has a soft spot for the raptors, and they have a soft spot for him as well, after he raises them himself, imprints them on himself and Kelly at their island-side residence.

And we mustn’t forget Eric, the kid Grant and his team saved from one of the islands when he crashed on it parasailing. Eric survived down there on an island full of dinosaurs when pretty much no one else could have survived even a few days. He’s the one out in the field, in charge of containment and tactical defenses for when (not if, WHEN) things go wrong. Because they will. They’ve been waiting 10 years for it to go wrong. They’ll continue waiting, ready.

Imagine the look on all their faces when InGen admits that a dinosaur was created behind their backs, a hybrid of several species, because someone wanted to create more ‘wow’ for the park. Only what they created wasn’t what they meant to create. This new dino is smarter than anything they’ve ever made before. Bigger than the T-Rex. Stronger. It surprises everyone with it’s ability to mask its heat and change its skin color. It’s a mistake but ohhh what a mistake- the InGen folks have hearts in their eyes thinking about how they could apply these changes to raptors.

Imagine Lex’s utter outrage at being lied to, but now that the life has been created she can’t just take it. The animal didn’t ask to be born, but now that it has been, she ensures that it has what amounts to a bomb-proof enclosure in a remote section of the island. Heat sensors, sound sensors, tracking device, motion sensors- this thing has got the works in her pen. Lex forbids opening it as an attraction, this enclosure is for containment only. And the would-be social creature, deprived of social interaction with humans or its own kind or with anyone really, becomes the Indominus Rex we see in the actual movie; she does not understand boundaries or dominance or good behavior.

But the movie dynamics are now shifted. Instead of the park destroying itself from within, it is under attack from without. It isn’t because Lex was careless about security. There is no tension between Lex and Tim outside of normal brother/sister banter. Imagine that InGen wants those raptors badly enough to force a field test of them- imagine they purposefully release Indominus, thinking Tim’s raptor squad can beat it. Imagine the moment Lex asks him if the squad is ready for search and rescue, and he agrees they are.

Imagine Tim and Lex gearing up to go into the wilds of their park because there are people stranded at the far end. Imagine a movie where the wholesale destruction and terror are not because everyone is ill-equipped to handle the situation (because Lex and Tim? They’ve made fucking preparations for this shit, they have thought of everything for this kind of situation) but instead a story about how all of those preparations mean shit against this superdino. She outsmarts them like the Clever Girl she is, avoiding traps, clawing out her tracker, taking out their electricity, setting free the other dinosaurs. She talks to Tim’s raptor children, and they walk away with her- imagine how CRUSHED he is to see Blue just… leave him.

Imagine half the movie following two young girls, strangers, who got put together on the rolly ball ride. One is a mechanic’s daughter who can disassemble and reassemble whole cars if she wanted, who fiddles with the ride to let them free-roll anywhere they want. Imagine she does it because the other girl is a younger trans girl who has spent her whole life admiring Dr. Ellie Satler and wanting to be a paleobotanist just like her, but the ride doesn’t get close enough to the plants for her to see them well. Imagine that they escape Indominus by ducking under a plant that the botanist-in-training recognizes as basically a giant ancient fucking nettle plant and Indominus takes one faceplant into it before deciding WOW NOT WORTH IT BYE. And the two girls stick together until they meet up with Lex and Tim who are out trying to find the rolly ball inhabitants that went off road because they are the last two left, and Lex has been following their wristband signals.

Indominus finds the InGen beach camp and attacks with her new raptor compatriots. Lex and Tim, after seeing all the civilians (including the two young girls) safely to boats, split up to come to the rescue, Lex with Eric and Tim with Kelly. Tim and Kelly win back their raptor clan (let’s be real, they didn’t have to win them, they left to gather intel on the iRex) while Lex comes charging down the beach in the original Jeep the mechanic’s daughter fixed, road flares tied to the roll bars and madam Queen-of-All T-Rex chasing after her to start the final showdown.

No giant seamonster needed- T-Rex + Raptor Squad + InGen army + Lex and Tim and Kelly and Eric are enough to bring down Indominus. Barely, but they win. And T-Rex is there, but she’s had quite enough fighting against raptors after the first movie, and so she leaves, heading into the jungle to let the humans recover.

Lex fires everyone at InGen. They go get ice cream from the cafeteria and Tim eats an entire chocolate pie by himself. They call Grant the next day and say “You are possibly the only person who will believe the day we just had.”

Cassie, I'm so sorry, but some 'fans' are sharing a lot of LoS spoilers and snippets here on Tumblr - and on Twitter, too. What do you think that we should do to avoid them?

This does happen, even with books that are embargoed. There’s always a bookstore or a website that doesn’t comply with the embargo and sends the book out early. After all these years I’ve come to accept this as inevitable.

I am against spoilers, as you know — I think they ruin the experience of reading a book. I think if you’re going to post spoilers, no one can stop you, but please — don’t tag your spoilers with anything that will bring unwary fans to your page (”TDA” “Lord of Shadows”) and please put the spoilers under a cut.

If you are trying to avoid spoilers (and I hope you are) — blacklist “los spoilers” and “lord of shadows spoilers” as tags. If you can’t blacklist and you see someone spoiling, ask them politely to put their spoilers under a tag. If you see someone spoiling on Twitter, mute them for the next week.

Some people like being spoiled — I never understand why because information about a book out of context can give you the completely opposite impression or idea of what actually happens in a book (say someone is reading the book and tells you Emma murders Julian*; maybe you if you read it, you’d find out a few paragraphs later that was all an illusion, or faked or a dream: but if you came across that as a spoiler you’ll never know and it may well influence you to never read the book.) Also, you’ll get their take on what happened, which wouldn’t necessarily be yours: I’ve already seen some spoilers that to me don’t seem to bear any resemblance to what happens in the book at all. :-(

Spoilers are part of the internet, and we’re all kind of stuck with them: all we can do is politely ask people who are spoiling to make sure they’re only spoiling people who want to be spoiled. I would be desperately unhappy if someone prevented me from experiencing a book (or movie) the way it’s supposed to be experienced by telling me beforehand what happened. There’s a reason they’re called spoilers, because they spoil/ruin the experience of reading for many, many people: please just do your best to make sure that in your eagerness to talk about a new book you’re not wrecking anyone else’s enjoyment of the experience.

It’s Justice that came from South Africa, Integrity has been living in New York. Though majority of the population in South Africa are black people, there are white people from European descent living there too. I just want to break the usual.

Uh… you can always take inspiration from my HC? and if you thought of it before, go wild. (Do note that some of my hc there came from mid 2016)

Tbh, I really don’t care XD. And anyway, most of them were inspired from movies/animes/quotes, and some existing hc/theories for Frisk/Chara, so I really don’t have the right to own them?

The only hc I’m protective of is Justice’ prosthetic leg. Thanks for liking my ideas by the way!

write some Moonlight fanfic you fucking cowards

I totally support the idea of the Green Ranger being a girl in the Power Rangers sequel, but I’d prefer if the fancasts were Native American actors. Tommy was Native in the original series, they just (of course) cast a white actor. It would be great to see them rectify that in these new movies by casting a Native actor as Tommy, man or woman.

Also, if they do keep Tommy a guy and cast a Native actor (my fancast is Booboo Stewart) I really don’t want to hear shit from fandom about how it should have been a girl. There are hardly any Native actors in these big movies, and if they cast a Native actor as Tommy, that would be great.

He wasn’t much of an artist, but he made sure to at least capture every rare creature he came across.

“Newt, are you coming?” Queenie chimed as you, Tina and Jacob were filing out the door. You lingered there, your painted nails tapping on the wooden frame as you waited.

“Sorry, I just needed to note something I remembered.” He replied, hoping that he wasn’t blushing under your gaze. He looked down upon his notebook before he closed it up, binding it and throwing it into his suitcase.

  • (this guy has a model for a mother ok he’s p self-aware)
  • also his glasses slip down his nose and annoy him when he wants to wear sunglasses or something so
  • and contacts make hockey easier obviously because he doesn’t have to worry about them breaking or how they fit behind his gear etc
  • BUT
  • sometimes he’s really tired and maybe he’s just finished an essay so he’s been squinting at the same laptop screen for hours so he takes his contacts out and wears these glasses
  • they’re so dorky like im talking thin wiry frames totally rectangular and tbh they don’t suit him but he’s had them since age 13 so he doesn’t care
  • no one sees him wearing them anyway because he’s always going to sleep early and waking up early
  • okay then one time they’re in the haus and watching a film idk say superman right and this is the point when
  • jack laurent zimmermann has a huge crush on one eric richard bittle
  • and this lil blond boy has a thing for men in glasses which he happens to be very vocal about when he’s sitting next to nursey on the couch and the two of them are going on about how hot Henry cavill is with glasses like
  • jack NOTICES
  • two weeks later he picks up these new frames from the nearby opticians and they’re literally the clark kent ones that he wears in the movie im not kidding
  • jack goes back to the haus all casual with them on and he looks in the hallway mirror and for once thinks, hey i look pretty good in these
  • bitty’s at class but comes home talking about how he’s dreading this homework and all he wants to do is bake and then
  • “Jack. Did you get… Glasses???”
  • jack is all like heh yeah I have them I just don’t wear them because hockey
  • bitty is blushing like ur typical southern belle and stammering and Jack is fucking milking it, pushing his glasses up his nose and batting his eyes
  • everyone else eventually sees and reactions vary from “lookin good bro” (lardo) to “Jack I didn’t know u wore glasses! Triplets!!” (r&h) to “FUCKING HELL ZIMMERMANN YOUR CHEEKBONES COULD CUT GLASS” (shitty)
  • anyway Jack is a little more lazy with his contacts from then on and makes a special effort to wear his glasses for morning checking practice under the pretence of “my eyes are tired”
  • all I’m saying is that when Jack and bitty get together bitty is very very happy about those late night Skype calls when jack’s sleepy and wearing his glasses okay
  • also bitty totally makes jack keep his glasses on when they’re having sex im not joking. it’s a thing™
  • the entire smh team and even the falcs eventually find out about bitty’s obsession and chirp jack endlessly for deliberately wearing his glasses more when bitty’s around but neither of them care because they’re too in love and jack is used to chirping when it comes to bitty anyway

I want… I want a fucking conquering ADHD movie.

A movie about a girl who grows up undiagnosed bc ADHD is severely under diagnosed in girls.

It shows her struggles growing up, people getting angry at her when she’s five for her symptoms. Her having meltdowns because she just doesn’t understand why shes Like This. She forgets things that her mom tells her, she gets borderline obsessed with certain things that catch her interest, only to drop them a month later in favor of something new. She struggles in school, her room is a mess despite her mom telling her to clean it every day. Her sleeping and eating schedules are a disaster. She’ll try to cook food but almost always burn it, just because she momentarily forgot about it and 5 minutes turned to 50.

Her life is pretty much hell and she doesn’t know why, but she has a feeling its her own fault. Her family says its because she’s lazy, and she agrees bc she doesn’t know any better.

Then, around 15, she gets the diagnosis. And she doesn’t get it at first, bc thats what little boys have. You grow out of ADHD once you mature, right? She starts explaining her symptoms again to the doctor: chronic memory problems, difficulty with concentration, irregular sleep patterns. Because thats nothing like what ADHD is.

But then the doctor tells her no, that’s exactly what it is.

So she’s put on some meds, and suddenly her grades go up, and she’s got a bit more spring in her step, and she feels oddly productive.

She adjusts to life with meds, figuring out who she is on them and who she is off them, and does her best to manage her ADHD the best she can. She still forgets, she still procrastinates, she still has meltdowns. But now she has the tools to manage them better.

She goes to college bc her family pressures her to. That’s actual hell. She has at least two meltdowns within the first week, but she tries her best. She has her pills in a days of the week container so she doesn’t accidentally overdose or forget. She has alarms on her phone for everything. She forces the distractions away so she can work, and sometimes shes successful, sometimes she ins’t. Its hard. But she manages.

She makes a friend in college and the two of them get really close, before the friend finds out about the protagonist’s ADHD. The friend doesn’t really ‘get’ it, but they’ve heard of it and how it affects people.

The friend helps our MC through many meltdowns, as well as through a few of the classes they have together. MC vents to them on occasion, and they listen. The friend reminds them to do things when they forget, and bugs her to start things she’s been putting off when she needs an extra push.

She isn’t magically cured by the end. The movie ends with her 30 years down the line, at a stable job she landed by constantly fighting her ADHD to apply. She’s better now, knows how to manage herself so she’s self sufficient. It’s still difficult, but she’s happy, and healthy, despite what she thought she was gonna grow up to be. She’s learned to live with her disability, and it’s a happy ending.

Halfway (Lin-Manuel x Reader)

Summary: You and Lin are extremely domestic, but not dating. Lin asks you to move in with him anyways.
Low-key inspired by this quote:
“Date someone who meets you halfway. Date someone who brings you a glass a water when they get themselves one. Date someone who makes sure you don’t spend money on ridiculous things. Date someone your ex hates and your mom loves. Date someone who’d rather spend a Friday night watching movies, than out with 50 people they barely even talk to. Date someone who sleeps on your chest and leaves a little puddle of drool. Don’t date someone who makes you leave oceans of tears.”

Warnings: Cheesy ending? Mentions of jazz? I’m not sure.

A/N: Hi! I’m back at it again. Never in a million years did I think I’d ever get a single note on any of my writing, so the fact that I did get notes just has me over the moon. I might have a few fics already planned out because I have a free weekend and zero chill?

Side note: If you don’t know who Miles Davis is and have the time you should watch the movie Miles Ahead. Guy was wack.

“Cariña,” Lin softly called out to you, drawing your attention away from your notebook. You looked up to see him offering you a glass of water and you were suddenly aware of how dry your throat was. You had spent a considerable amount of time with your only form of communication being the words you were scrawling across the pages of your notebook. You dropped your pen into the pages and set it aside, flexing your hand before accepting the glass with a grateful smile.

“Thank you, love.” you cooed back, taking a large drink. You set it on the edge of his desk that was only a few feet away from the window seat you were currently sitting in. He sat at his desk, flipping open his laptop, the screen illuminating his face in a way that the diminishing sunlight had ceased to do hours ago. This was your usual spot, Lin working away at his desk while you sat in the window overlooking New York. Your eyes had been drawn back to the pages causing you to miss the way Lin looked up at you, admiring the curve of your lips and the glint of your eyes as your mind seemed to pick right back up where your pen had previously stopped. There was a time when you had used to move straight out of his line of vision the moment he sat down at his desk, much to his dismay. It took a couple of weeks until Lin finally got the nerve to tell you to stay where you were and it had been your designated space ever since.

Mark and I had been dating since he was 20, and we moved in together at 22. We’ve always been close, never kept secrets, we took care of each other. We also are usually inseparable. Every time we weren’t together we’d be texting or sending cute picture back and forth so we knew what the other was doing at the least. Recently he had almost completely shut me out.

“I’m going to work.” He’d leave and not text me once, come home and then tell me he ate dinner with the boys and then he’d take a shower and go to bed.

“I have practice today and I want to get a head start.” He would say and leave but not take his normal path. Now trust me, I’d never think Mark would ever, ever, ever cheat on me. But recently he gave me doubts, not that he was cheating, but that he was just keeping secrets.

It was now our three year anniversary, I had the table set up nicely, a nice dinner from the place we went on our first date on the table and his gift next to his plate, a new watch I heard him say he wanted.

He had left early that morning for work and said he’d be back around 5 so we could have dinner around then. I smiled as I sat down at my seat at the table and waited for him to come home. It was almost 6. I’ll just wait a bit longer.

Around 7 I woke up to a small bang from upstairs and I quickly stood up and saw Mark coming down.

“Oh, baby I’m sorry I didn’t wake you. I went upstairs to change and set down some stuff before I woke you…” He said nervously. I nodded and we sat down to eat. He smiled as we made each other’s plates and he started eating.

I was trying to talk to him about everything the last few years and just about my day. He would just say “yeah”, “mm”, “i know right”, “babe that is amazing.”, etc. and every few minutes glance at his phone. I couldn’t handle it anymore.

“Are you cheating on me?” I asked softly and he started coughing, almost choking on his food. “What?” He said with a mouthful as he grabbed his drink and finished coughing.

“It’s just…” I sighed “You’ve been so distant lately and I don’t like it… You don’t text me when you’re at work, come home for dinner anymore, or tell me when you’re gonna be late.” I looked down more. “I just feel like there is someone else.” I said as I slowly set down my fork and I put my hands in my lap, looking down more.

He started laughing slightly and I looked at him with sad eyes. “Lovely… I would never. You know how hard it is to keep secrets from you.”  He said and he moved to me and slowly sat down and pulled me into his lap and he cupped my cheek and made me look at him.

“I’m so sorry princess, Ii was keeping a secret, but trust me it wasn’t that type of secret.” He stood up and grabbed my hand, leading me upstairs. “I was meeting up with your friends every few days and we’d all go around the shops and they were helping me come up with ideas of how to celebrate our anniversary and gifts for you…” He said and he opened the door and there were three big bags from three different stores sitting on the ground near the end of the bed.

“They said since it’s our three year to get you three things. Clothes, shoes, and accessories for when I take you to our real dinner” He pointed to a very big bag and then set it by the closet. “A bunch of movies and gift cards for the pizza, Chinese, and all the other restaurants we eat at for our movie nights. Oh! and a new blanket.” He set another one away and picked up the last one.

“And one of them said you were a bit stressed and I know you like taking bubble baths when you’re stressed… a bunch of candles, bubbles, bath bombs, some skin care, lotions, oils, an oil burner… I didn’t know what all you didn’t already have so I just got you what I thought you might want more of.” He said shyly and rubbed the back of his neck shyly before slowly looking down and then back at me.

“You can pick one right now… obviously not the clothes one because the dinner isn’t for another week.. but the movies and the bath and stuff is up for grabs right now, i took off if you wanna stay up late.” He said getting more shy and quiet as he was rambling a bit.

“We should take a bath.” I smiled as I grabbed the stuff I wanted from the bag, bubbles, candles, and dissoluble rose petals? why not. I smiled as he followed me, grabbing clothes from the dresser as he followed me. He grabbed the two fluffiest towels and set them on the counter before setting up the candles and lighting them as I started the bath.

I slowly added the bubbles and we both stripped and he sunk into the water, slowly hissing at the head and making me wait for it to cool down a bit before slipping in and leaning my back against his chest. I smiled wide as I leaned back more and I looked up at him.

“‘I’m sorry Ii accused you of cheating. I’m not used to you keeping stuff from me and being so distant ya know…” I said softly and he nodded quickly and placed soft kisses on my shoulder.

“I know baby girl. But trust me… I’m not going anywhere not even if you want me to.” He said and smiled wide, causing me to laugh slightly and nuzzle even closer. He started kissing up my neck as his thumbs started rubbing soft circles on my thighs softly, I whined softly in response and backed against him slightly.

“Do you want to? You know I like making sure just in case…” He said softly and shyly and all I could do was nod. He turned me to straddle him and he kissed up my shoulder, my collarbone, to my jaw and finally he kissed me. The kiss wasn’t very soft yet it was still gentle, loving and passionate as he put his hand on the back of my neck and pulled me closer to him. He slowly slipped his tongue into my mouth, making me moan softly as I moved my hips against his.

He whimpered softly before kissing my neck and slowly nipping at a spot right below my ear.

“I love you.” He whispered softly and as he pumped him self a few times before sliding in. He sat there for a second, still, kissing my neck and just rubbing circles on my hips to make sure I was okay. I cupped both of his cheeks and I kissed him rather hard as I started moving against him.

I moved my hips in circles, moved them in 8′s, and so on so forth. The thing I enjoyed most was how nice he looked, sounded, and felt.

His head was leaned forward against my shoulder as he kissed the base of my neck, sweat started to make a thin layer on our bodies and his hair was starting to stick to his forehead a bit.

He sounded like something from my dreams, his moans so soft and his voice some how raspy yet sweet. Whispering things he loves and wants to do in the future although inaudible just because he wants to say them to me.

His touch felt like fire. His hands every few minutes stopping from rubbing circles on my hips and waist and squeezing every time something felt really good. His kisses were open mouthed and a bit sloppy but still small and lasting. His thrusts were just slight but still as powerful as any could be, still sending my body to its reaching point  as I felt my release nearing.

He moved hair from my shoulder gently as he started to thrust up more and move me around to kiss my shoulder. I moaned loudly as I slowly tangled my fingers in his hair as he was still kissing from my neck to my lips every few kisses.

I pulled him back a bit and I kissed him as I released, moaning against his mouth and he released quickly after, moaning against the skin of my neck.

After a few minutes of panting and whispered ‘I love you’s’ I pulled away and sat down. He slowly got out, lifting me and setting me down on a towel before drying off every inch of me, kissing spots where he had just dried and the final two kisses being on my forehead and then my lips.

He stood me up, now humming a tune as he dressed me and I smiled wide as when he was done getting dressed he hugged me.

“I love you cutie.” He smiled wide as he kissed my head softly.

“I love you too.” I said and I leaned up and kissed him before he lead me to our bed and we laid down, tangling our legs with each other and our forehead touching as he grabbed my hand and rubbed circles on the back of it and kissed it before slowly falling asleep.

This was the man I loved with all of my heart.

(n.) one who lives by the sea

I have a best friend.

At least I think I did… once.

I used to live in a small town secluded from the cities. It was unimportant to most maps but it was there, idle and unknown to most. The population didn’t go over a hundred and everyone knew each other like old friends.

I remembered getting up early in the morning and biking up the hill a few minutes from the main town. Daeyang was located by the seaside and it was a place where serenity lay and where time seemed to move slowly; unlike in big cities where people always seemed to be rushing after something.

I remembered loving and hating the place. Hate because it was so small, so suffocating sometimes. I dreamt of leaving this town once I graduate and find a job in the city; maybe become a screenplay writer or even better an actress that starred in movies (which I would be writing, of course).

Daeyang was a place detached from that world; a world that excited me, fascinated me. Once a month, my uncle visits us and brings in things like movies and the latest technology that came out like those amazing video games and cellular phone units.

Jimin liked those games a lot.

Jimin.

The train zipped passed and I felt the wheels rumbling beneath my feet as it rolled through the tracks.

The skies were dark outside as I’ve taken a ride in the middle of the night; a shotgun decision I had made right next to snagging the very last chance passenger slot at the airport.

My heart beat in a slow rhythm, a contrast to the whirl of emotions stirring within me.

I watched the darkened fields whipping past; a never ending sea of grass, hills, and earth. I leant my head against the cold glass of the window as the train took me away from the city… far away from what I once thought was everything to me.

Flashback (Many years ago)

Y/N once had a best friend.

He was the son of two of the nicest people anyone could have ever met in their lifetime. Mr. and Mrs. Park were the couple who lived by the sea in a white picket-fenced house a few minutes from the main town of Daeyang; that is if you’re going by car or bike.

Y/N went there everyday and Jimin and she would play by the shore; or at some special days, he would come along with her to town and they would go to Y/N’s grandmother’s diner, where they usually get a free bowl of ice cream each.

Samchon brought new movies, Jiminie. We should go watch it at home.”

Jimin nodded enthusiastically, chocolate ice cream smearing across his mouth. Y/N chuckled and grabbed a napkin before lifting herself up to reach over the table and wipe his face clean.

Jimin grinned as he held up a peace sign, and she stuck out her tongue at him before pinching his chubby cheeks.

“Ow! Noona!“ Jimin whined as he swatted her hand away.

"You can try eating more neatly, you know. Don’t just inhale that all up! There’s still tomorrow, Jimin.”

“But it’s so good!” Jimin almost moaned as he took another spoonful of ice cream.

“Anyway, I heard this new one is really good! It’s starring my favourite actress!”

“You say that about everyone.” Jimin pointed out with his spoon.

“That’s cause they’re all great.” Y/N sighed dreamily as she showed him her notebook where all her favourite movies were written: their plots, cast, and even her thoughts and reviews about them. “I want to be just like her when I grow up.”

A princess taken hostage and brought to her undoing?” Jimin asked jokingly as he read the synopsis, and she threw a napkin to his face. He laughed, eyes turning into small slits.

“No. An actress.” Y/N said a matter of fact as she let her chin rest on her palms. “I would have to get out of this place first, though. And go to college, then audition for roles…”

Jimin remained silent, nodding. He had always been the best listener; never complaining even if she ranted about this place being too small or told him about her dreams which she probably narrated to him hundreds of times.

“Do you think I can? It seems like a lot to do.” She murmured haplessly and she didn’t expect him to answer but he did. And it was a sentence that got her through a lot of hardships that came in her life; like the time she got called too “ordinary” at an audition and got turned down so many times she had lost count.

“Yeah, of course, Y/N noona… You can do anything.”

The whistle pierced through my ears as the brakes hissed and screeched to a halt. I had fallen asleep for a moment and when I opened my eyes, it was already the twilight hour and the cabin I was in was empty.

I sat up instantly and grabbed my duffle bag, the only one I brought for this spontaneous trip.

Stepping down from the train, I was met by the cool autumn wind along with a memory that threatened to suffocate me—making my chest twist in aching sadness upon the sight of the familiar station.

Flashback

“You’re going to write, okay? And if you get a hold of a phone, call me.”

Jimin was silent as he hugged Y/N, nodding against the juncture where her neck and shoulders met. He hadn’t said a word since the ride to the station, quiet and looking a little downhearted.

Y/N was eighteen while Jimin was sixteen when she left town to pursue her dreams. Jimin was still in high school thus couldn’t quite leave yet but he promised…he promised he’d follow. And that she should think of this as only a temporary separation.

Noona…don’t cry.”

“I’m not crying.” Y/N slapped his chest lightly even though tears were already filling her eyes and staining her cheeks.

“I’ll…follow.” Jimin said with a small smile to reassure her. “I’ll come meet you.”

“You better.” Y/N said before hugging him tightly again.

Inside the train, Y/N sat by the window and saw Jimin standing there by the edge of the platform, smiling up at her. The engine rumbled as the train began to move and Y/N felt elated as her journey to her dreams began. But also a little saddened by the fact that her best friend couldn’t be there beside her.

Jimin walked alongside the train as it moved, even running slightly as it trudged faster through the tracks. Y/N’s palms were pressed flat against the glass as she felt herself move father away from him, keeping her eyes on him the whole time.

Jimin stopped at the end of the platform, panting as he watched the train zip fast. Y/N frowned as his form became smaller and smaller, but reminded herself that this was only temporary and that they would see each other again. And so she lay back on her seat, thinking about the wonderful things she’ll be doing in the city.

Little did she know that Jimin had sunk to his knees at her loss, panting and gripping his chest as pain flared in his heart, causing his heart to beat erratically and his breathing turning abnormally shallow.

End of flashback

~~~o~~~
The town was quiet as the blue hour reached its last moments. Everything looked familiar yet different; from the shops lining the streets I used to go to, to the feeling of emptiness and strange detachment as it’s been years since I’ve been here.
Seven years, to be exact.
I passed by the old shoe salon and smiled slightly, remembering the white sneakers I had brought Jimin for his tenth birthday. I could still remember that day; how the smile lit up his face and probably the whole town. I’ve never seen anyone so happy to be receiving a pair of shoes before. His happiness made it worth it as I spent my money saving up for it instead of saving it for a trip with my uncle to the city.
Seeing Jimin smiling and happy was always worth it.
My smile faltered when I reached the diner. Halmeoni passed a couple of years before I left and it was a big blow considering she was the one who took care of me after my parents died at sea when I was two. She was my only family apart from my uncle, and when she had gone, it felt like a part of me was taken away.
The diner was open and it was currently run by a boy named Kim Jongdae, who was a good family friend. I couldn’t take over the business as I had planned on leaving, so we gave it to the Kim’s who took it whole heartedly for grandma’s sake.
I would come in say hello, but later. Right now, there was someone I needed to see.
Flashback
“Hey Dan, anything for me?”
Dan was the neighbourhood’s post man and delivered mail on a weekly basis. Y/N looked forward to his arrival as she always anticipated Jimin’s letters.
“Sorry Y/N, none for today.”
Y/N’s shoulder slumped at his words and told him to have a good day before saying goodbye and walking up to her dorm room.
It’s been two years since she arrived in L.A. After finishing college in Seoul, she flew to the states after being offered an internship at a production house. Y/N took it, finding it an opportunity to purse her Hollywood dreams.
She had gotten used to her new life after a year and half, which was more busy and harsh compared to her life back in South Korea. She was a small town girl suddenly thrown into the city life and it was overwhelming at first, but she had met some friends who helped her get around and soon Y/N moved around a city like she had been here for years, easily fitting in and getting around.
But the more she got used to it, the more, she realised, her old life slipped away from her grasp. And she tried so hard to keep that connection intact, but she wasn’t the one who had intentionally let go…
It’s been two years and Jimin should have graduated by now and followed as he promised. But he didn’t. In fact, he had stopped writing completely, leaving Y/N confused and clueless as to the reason why.
Time passed and life got even busier and Y/N couldn’t have waited for the mail to come forever. There came to a point that she no longer anticipated Dan’s arrival.
There came to a point where she had just given up on Jimin. Because it seemed like he had already given up on her…
He had already forgotten her.
End of flashback
~~~o~~~

By the time I arrived at the familiar hill, the sun was already peeking in the horizon, lighting up the sky.

Trudging up the small hill, I let out a gasp when I saw the expanse of blue waters and right at the bottom of the hill I was standing on was a familiar white house.

My heart hammered in my chest as I made my way down and upon arriving at the front door, I chewed on my lip as I knocked and waited for an answer.

I was almost afraid that I would be wrong and that the Park’s no longer lived here. But my source said they never left and I wasn’t sure what to feel when the door swung open and revealed a woman who was both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.

“Y/N?” She asked in surprise and I confirmed that she was indeed the person I knew. Before I could speak, the woman had grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into an embrace. I almost cried right there.

Mrs. Park had aged a little in the seven years that I haven’t seen her. She now had wrinkles at the corner of her eyes and strands of white scattered across her hair. But she was still the gorgeous lady I remembered.

“Yes it’s me.” I murmured against her shoulder before letting go. “How are you, umma-ni?”

Mrs. Park smiled at the term. I’ve always called her mother even if I wasn’t her daughter by blood. Simply because she had known me since I was a baby and I was at their place most of the time I could’ve been mistaken as one of the Park’s.

“It’s been so long. You have grown so much. So beautiful!” She said as she touched my hair and I felt like I was twelve again when she braided my hair while Jimin stood and watched saying how having long hair seem so tiring and high maintenance.

Jimin, I suddenly thought and like a mother, Mrs. Park sensed the reason why I came.

“He’s out back. You know where.”

~~~o~~~
As I walked through the familiar sandy path towards the beach, I thought about what to say once I see him.
There were so many things going on in my head but mostly words of hate and disappointment for having cut off ties with me after all those years stood at the forefront. I may have left but he was the one who stopped writing.
He gave up first.
But was that really a reason to give up on him too?, a small voice in my head said, knowing I could have taken a flight back and visited if I wanted to. But I knew I couldn’t have considering right after college, work has imprisoned me in a cage of unending deadlines and workload.
I worked at a production company in Hollywood after having given up on auditioning for roles. I couldn’t take keep doing it only to get rejected every single time. I needed money to survive, and a stable job was the only thing that could give me that.
So I worked behind the scenes as a production assistant and climbed up the ranks. It was slow but I was able to do it and currently I was now the one holding auditions. It seemed that I had a knack for seeing talent and so my career took on a slight turn and I became a casting director slash producer.
Through the sleepless nights of shooting and writing, and full days of auditioning hundreds of hopeful actors and actresses, I barely found time to sit and watch my favorite movies or write back letters which I knew would be left unanswered.
Time, and life in general simply made us grow apart.
The autumn wind blew and I hugged my arms to keep warm. It was much colder here considering the sea breeze was stronger. But it was fresher; so different from the air I’m used to breathing back in L.A.
Upon reaching the beach, I saw a form sitting by the shoreline.
It was a boy wearing a striped sweater and jean shorts. He was hugging his legs to his chest, chin lying comfortably on his knees as he watched the waves lapping on the shore.
I felt my chest tighten at the sight for right there was Park Jimin, my best friend.
At least, to me he still was.
I walked down the beach, approaching him and he must’ve sensed my presence for he looked back and I felt like a deer caught in the headlights as I halted in place.
Jimin looked at me blankly before recognition dawned on his face and his eyes widened slightly, causing him to stand up shakily from the sands. We stood there just staring at each other for a while and I couldn’t help but observe the changes since I last saw him.
He had grown a lot taller and his face had matured. No longer were chubby cheeks, now replaced by eminent cheekbones and a sharp jaw line.
Jimin was no longer the boy I once knew and loved. He was now a man that was both familiar and a stranger to my eyes.
“Y/N?” Jimin asked in disbelief, breaking the eerie silence between us and I almost cried at the sound of my name coming out of his mouth. “You—what are you doing here?“
His question pierced my heart as it sounded like he didn’t even want me here. I planned on saying hello first; to ease into the conversation but the emotions whirling inside of me at the sight of him was too strong that I couldn’t help the sharpness of my tongue.
"I’m surprised you still know me.” I said bitterly. “I thought I might need to introduce myself again.”
Jimin frowned deeply at that. “Y/N—”
“Because I wrote letters, Jimin. But you didn’t write back.” I said and Jimin swallowed hard, looking guilty. “Why?”
Jimin didn’t answer for a while and I wanted to shake him so he’d show more emotions rather than that blank and kind of lost expression on his face.
“I didn’t because… I couldn’t do my promise.” He replied. "I’ve come to realize that this place…is where I belong. So I stayed here and helped out my parents instead.”
I pressed my lips together in a thin line, feeling pained at the fact that he had the courage to lie to me like that.
“You could have answered back at least? Told me that?” I said, voice breaking at the last word.
“I knew you were busy with your new life in LA. I… I didn’t want to be a bother.”
“A bother.” I echoed and I saw something break in his blank expression. “You didn’t want to be a bother so you just cut off ties with me just like that?” I chuckled humorlessly. “You chose to forget me instead.”
“I…” Jimin looked like he was running out of excuses to say and so I went on ahead to make it easier for him.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were sick?”
Jimin snapped up at my words and I saw fear flash briefly in his eyes. His lower lip quivered as he opened his mouth to reply, but no words came out. He probably didn’t expect I would know.
But I did.
It was a couple of days ago when I met with Hana, an old classmate in high school; one of the good friends I had apart from Jimin from Daeyang. We caught up for a bit and I discovered she recently moved here to the states to live with her American husband.
“Oh how are you and Jimin? Aren’t you two like… inseparable back then?”
That’s when I told her that I didn’t contact him anymore and that we ceased writing to each other a few years ago. I told her how Jimin probably forgot about me and decided to stay by the sea instead. He seemed to love it more over there anyway.
At my words, Hana looked surprised and told me things that made everything do a 360-degree turn.
She told me that Jimin’s had a heart problem from as early as he was born, one that caused blood to pump irregularly through his body. It was manageable while he was still young, probably why I never noticed. And he only needed to stay away from activities that required exerting too much effort.
Suddenly, I remembered how Jimin got tired so easily when we used to play.
Hana continued on and when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, it just did when she told me that Jimin had cancer. They found out about the blood disease a couple of years right after I left…which was also the time he had stopped responding to my letters.
That night, I drove straight to the airport and grabbed whatever flight was available to South Korea and flew here.
And now that I was standing before him, I couldn’t help but feel weakened as the truth stared me in the face.
“Jimin.” I called and he closed his eyes. My eyes pricked with tears as I stared at his face. He was so pale, and he had become so thin since the last time I saw him. So very thin.
Thinking about that made me guilty; made me feel like a total jerk because for years, I never contacted him having been busy with my own life. I never even saw this; saw the real reason as to why he wouldn’t come to the city and pursue his own dreams. For years, I believed that he intended that we grow apart.
But he wasn’t the boy who lived by the sea by choice.
I knew that now.
Jimin looked away from me, the wind blowing through his hair as we stood there on the shore. I wanted to step in and hug him but I was frozen in place.
“I… I didn’t want you to feel burdened.” Jimin finally spoke and it seemed like the beach had gone quiet, his voice echoing through my ears. “You told me so much about your dreams… the things you wanted to do once you got out of here, and I wanted you to reach them so badly. I wanted you to succeed so much I was willing to…” He paused, shaking his head. “I wanted you to leave without anything holding you back.”
“You promised me you were going to follow.” I said, feeling hot tears flowing down my cheeks. “Even when you already knew you wouldn’t be able to. I would’ve understood! If you would have just told me—”
“I didn’t want you to feel burdened.” Jimin simply repeated and hot—angry—tears burst out of my eyes.
“But you made me think you didn’t care anymore, Jimin!” I shouted at him and he winced, the pain eminent on his face. “I believed it for years and then you just stopped writing and I…I thought you hated me and then I find out you—” I gasped out and Jimin had his lips pressed tightly together as if preventing his own tears to come. “You were my best friend, Jimin. And for years I believed I was nothing to you.”
“No.” Jimin shook his head, chest heaving slightly as he took a step closer to me. “Of course not, Y/N! You were my best friend too. You—you mean everything to me.”
“Then you should’ve told me the truth.” I said as I turned from him, crossing my arms stubbornly.
Silence hovered over us until I heard a soft thud that made me turn around. My eyes widened when I saw Jimin kneeling on the sand, clutching at his chest.
“Jimin!”
I immediately went over to him, kneeling down and grabbing his face as it contorted in pain. My heart hammered in my chest in panic and I was about to call out for help when Jimin’s hand held my cheek; his touch cold yet gentle.
“I’m okay,” he reassured as he huffed out with a smile, thought it looked like he was trying hard to look okay for my  sake. “I’m just…” he breathed out and smiled up at me. “So happy to see you again.”
Another tear fell from my eye and Jimin caught it with his thumb.
“I’ve missed you, Y/N. I’ve missed you so much it hurts.”
Looking at his pale cheeks and chapped lips, I could no longer stop myself and the sobs bubbled out of my chest. I closed the distance between us and hugged him. Jimin’s arms wrapped around my waist and hugged me just as tightly; as if afraid that if he let go, I’d disappear.
“I’m sorry.” I sobbed against his shoulder. “I’ve missed you too. God. You have no idea how much I’ve missed you.”
We stayed there just hugging, kneeling on the sands as the waves gently kissed the shoreline. Right then, I never realized just how incomplete I was until Jimin filled that spot that’s been empty all this time; making me whole again.
~~~o~~~

Jimin and I fell into our usual ways like the seven years spent apart never happened. We spent our days walking by the beach as Jimin needed to do some exercise at least a few hours a day, as well as a breath of fresh air. It was one of the reasons why he couldn’t leave the place. It was mostly for medical reasons.

From the time we spent, I learned that Jimin found out about the cancer—Leukaemia—a couple of years back and that he stopped responding to treatments since last year. He said it like it was a completely normal thing to say when hearing it made me want to break down and cry.

“I saw the movies you worked in.” Jimin said one night, as we were sitting by the shoreline with a bonfire as our source of warmth. We were wrapped up in a blanket, sharing only one as Jimin cheekily suggested body heat was better so we ought to just share. Now here we were side by side, wrapped up in one soft and comfortable blanket as the stars shone brightly above us.

I snorted. “You watched movies while here?”

“Hey, we might not have phone signal here but we’ve managed to improve a little.”

“Oh yeah? How so?”

“We have cable now.”

At that I laughed and leant my head against his shoulder. The cackling of the fire filled the dead air as I stared at the darkened and still sea.

“We lost so much time together.” I suddenly said and I felt Jimin sigh. “I can’t possibly bring those years back.”

“That was my fault, I guess. I didn’t mean to make you think I forgot about you. Because I didn’t Y/N. I thought about you everyday.”

I smiled at his words and hugged his arm. “I thought about you too…even if I hated your guts.”

Jimin chuckled at that and pressed closer to her. “How are your auditions coming along? I mean I know you’re a casting director so you’re on the inside now and that’s great, right?”

“Oh.” I paused, realizing I haven’t told him about giving up on the actress dream. “I…I don’t audition anymore.”

Jimin looked down at me with a frown. “Why not?”

I sighed. “Well, because Hollywood is much harsher than we thought. There were prettier girls to cast and the competition is deadly. I became a casting director instead and it isn’t so bad. I like my job a lot. The movies ought to have better faces on the screen anyways and I’m happy to help them find it.“

There was a pause before I felt myself being turned. Jimin faced me and cupped my cheeks, his thumb caressing my cheeks tenderly.

"That’s a lie. You are the most beautiful and talented girl I’ve ever known. And if Hollywood can’t see that then it’s their loss.”

I looked into his eyes and something shifted. All of a sudden, I wasn’t just staring at Park Jimin, my childhood best friend. I was staring at a man who called me beautiful, who held me like I was as fragile as glass and looked at me like he would rather look at only me for the rest of eternity.

“Y/N.”

“Jimin.”

And our lips met halfway.

As we kissed, I thought how funny it was that I never even realized how in love I was with him. I’ve been in love with Jimin for years…I just never worded it out.

“You have no idea…” He gasped out against my lips. “How long I’ve wanted to kiss you.”

“Since when?” I asked teasingly as I pecked his lips once more, making him smile.

“Since you wiped off the chocolate ice cream from my mouth when I was twelve.”

At that I laughed and kissed him more passionately, thinking how I unconsciously wanted to kiss him then too.

My hand made its way to his chest and I felt the rapid beating of his heart, calling my attention.

“Jimin,” I gasped out and his lips slid to my cheek then down to my jaw, kissing it tenderly. “You shouldn’t,” I tapped his chest lightly. “Are you okay?”

Jimin moved back a little to look me in the eye; his lips swollen, cheeks redder than I’ve seen it since I got here, and eyes full of love and adoration it shook me to the core. He took my hand and placed it above his heart, which was beating quite fast.

“It always beats like this for you.” He murmured and I wanted to cry from happiness then. “You make me breathless… in a good way.”

And with that I leant down and kissed him again, with the moon and the stars as the only witnesses to our love.

Jimin and I spent the next three months in our own little paradise; making up for the years spent apart while loving each other in a way we both have wanted to for so long.

Jimin put on a smile on his face everyday despite the fact that his disease was eating him up little by little. We all knew he only had a few months left before his sickness finally took over him, and I set the sadness aside and thought that how he would want to spend his days being happy…and seeing me smiling along with him.

From my arrival at fall, winter came and we had the best Christmas together. We spent it with family and some of our old friends.

By January, the jolliness of the season dispersed as the new year brought new complications from Jimin’s sickness. Sometime in the middle of the month, Jimin began to have trouble getting up and walking. But he still managed to do so and we would walk by the beach every morning and sit there by the shore just watching the waves and telling each other stories.

By February, things got worse as Jimin weakened and it was getting difficult to look at him as his face paled even more and his body weight dropped.

“You know he has never been happier since you came. I hope you know that.” Mrs. Park said to me one day when she caught me staring at Jimin who was sleeping soundly on the chair at the front porch.

I laid a blanket over him to keep him warm before sitting beside him and leaning my head on his shoulder. Jimin stirred and leant his head over mine, his hand easily finding mine to hold beneath the blanket. It was so natural, the way our bodies gravitated towards one another and it hurts to know this moment couldn’t last forever.

~~~o~~~
“Can we sit?” Jimin asked while walking down the beach and I helped him on the sand before sitting beside him.
“Are you okay?” I asked and he nodded, looking at me with a small smile. He was so pale today and I couldn’t help but feel a sinking feeling in my chest at the sight.
“You know I always wondered why this had to happen to me.” He said and I glanced at him with a frown. “Why the heavens just made me sick and decided to take me in earlier than most.”
I bit my lip to keep the tears at bay and let him speak.
“To be honest, I’ve accepted it a long time ago. I was sick since I was born. My heart has never been normal… but I still wondered why. Why me…?”
“Maybe…” I swallowed hard, having difficulty holding in my tears. I agreed with him that it was unfair. He was so young—23-years-old and at the prime of his youth to be sick and dying. “Maybe the heavens have something better planned for you.”
“Hmm.” Jimin nodded, considering it. “You believe in the after life?”
“I do.” I said, trying to keep him—and myself—hopeful.
Jimin nodded. “But I still hate it.”
“Being sick?” To my surprise, Jimin shook his head.
“No… Leaving you.”
I closed my eyes painfully shut as tears flowed from my eyes and I shook my head at him, trying to deny the truth that was already predetermined. He was dying and there was no stopping it.
“I love you, Y/N.” He said as he kissed my forehead tenderly and I cried even more as it felt like a goodbye. “You are and will always will be the only one I’ll ever love.”
“I love you too.” I whispered. “I love you too.”
~~~o~~~

A few days later, Jimin and I sat by our usual spot on the beach and he seemed more tired than usual. He hardly spoke and I had to half-carry him to the beach even if I strongly protested he just stay inside the house. But Jimin was determined and pleaded to go the shorelines and who was I to say no?

We sat there silently, with Jimin’s head nestled against my shoulder.

“Y/N?” He spoke after a long while and my lips quivered as I answered.

“Yes?”

“You keep auditioning, alright? Don’t give up.”

A tear slipped from my eye as I nodded weakly. “I— I won’t.“

"And be happy.” I nodded again, unable to speak.

"I love you.” He added and it was almost a whisper.

“I love you too.”

There was a pause as he shifted slightly, his breathing seeming too loud in my ears despite the sound of the waves lapping on the shore surrounding us.

“Y/N, I’m tired…”

I let my hand hold the side of his face and kissed the crown of his head before leaning my cheek against him.

“Sleep, love.” I said, voice shaking as I kept my eyes on the waves. “It’s okay. I love you so much, Jimin.“

If I was looking down at him then, I knew he would’ve smiled.

Tears fell from my eyes like rain the moment I felt him too still, his breathing no longer audible.

Jimin.“ I gasped out as the reality of the situation dawned on me. I let myself hold his still form, hugging him tightly with his head nestled against my chest as I cried out in grief. I could no longer feel the beating of his heart and it felt like the life was being sucked out of me. My whole body shook as I sobbed and it felt like the world was ending…

Simply because my world was no longer here.

(5 years later - Winter)

"And the Academy goes to…”

Time seemed to stop as the people around me stood and applauded, looking down at me with bright smiling faces.

My mouth hung open, unbelieving my name had been called out and my manager, Kristine, was the one who pulled me off my seat and practically dragged me to the stage to accept the Oscar.

I won. I won best supporting actress.

I took the trophy with shaking hands, and thanked the announcer before finally facing the crowd. I gave out my speech which I had written the night before, considering I never really expected to get the award, not with my fellow nominees being so great in their respective films.

I went on to thank the people that made this film possible; from producers, directors, and writers.

“Lastly, I would like to thank that one person who never stopped believing in me. He’s…he’s the reason I am here fulfilling my dream and I couldn’t have done anything without him.”

I leant back from the mic and blew a kiss to the heavens, whispering, “I love you Jimin. We did it.”

And the crowd gave me another round of applause.

(Spring)

Most days I miss him.

It took a long while before the pain subsided into a quiet longing; my heart aching at anything that reminded me of him.

But as I promised him, I went on living and continued to pursue my dreams. It was two years later after Jimin passed when I got a callback and eventually got a role starring next to some big shot movie stars. It was my big break, and everything went on from there.

Five years later, last winter to be exact, I won an Oscar for my most recent film and I was thankful and humbled by the blessing though at the back of my head, I knew I would trade it for a chance to see him again without a second thought.

To be with him again.

But life always did give you a hard time, but never without reason. If it weren’t for Jimin… if I hadn’t come back to him, I wouldn’t have realized how I was wasting my time living someone else’s dream. He reminded me of who I was… the person I had lost when we grew apart. I owed him everything and I knew the only way to repay him was to keep going… to keep living and being happy.

Flashback

“This is also so unfair to you. You didn’t even have a chance to live your dreams.” I said to him and Jimin merely chuckled before approaching. He hugged me from behind; his chin nestling on the my shoulder and his arms caging me as his hands lay on the wooden rail of the front porch.

“Of course I did. Seeing you happy and successful was all I could ever want.” Jimin said as he kissed my bare shoulder. “Don’t you see? You are my dream, Y/N.”

End of flashback

I sat down on the sand and opened my notebook. It was a special one for not only did I write about my favourite films here… it’s also where I kept all the polaroids I had taken with Jimin in his last days.

I turned to the last page where my favorite photo laid, and it was a picture of Jimin looking over his shoulder with a small smile. A smile that was neither sad or completely elated…

It was a smile that said, “Be happy.”

A look that said, “I’ll miss you. But we’ll be okay.”

I miss you, I thought as I looked out at the sea and felt the warmth of spring hovering over me like a cloud. I realized then that like the seasons, pain and darkness were never meant to be eternal.

But our love was.

And so yes, I’ll be okay.
