Apartment AU! Where Person A and Person B live right next to each other and the walls are very thin…And I mean can-hear-quiet-footsteps-if-you-listen-hard-enough THIN.
So, one evening Person A is playing music at an acceptable volume, but their surrounding neighbours could still hear the music.
They don’t say anything cuz it’s soft enough to be ignored and really they had gotten used ignoring these sounds (sometimes frankly hilarious sounds but embarrassing for that apartment resident)……
……. Except for Person B.
They ignore the god awfull music for a full five minutes before Person B cracks. I mean sure they find Person A cute hot and sexy as hell and they haven’t really talked to them but Person A really needed to get a better taste in music.
Swearing to teach ‘A’ what good music is, Person B plugs in their own iPod to the speakers and starts playing their fav playlist, raising the volume not too loud but loud enough so that Person A gets the message. The rest of the inhabitants raise their eyebrows at this “message” but dismiss it quickly.
Of-fucking-course Person A gets the ‘message’ and is fucking annoyed and decides teach them a lesson, cranking up the volume. Y’all know where this is going. Fangirl!&Shipper!Person C is quietly sqealing dying inside at their antics.
This Game continues for a week during which the other residents are highly amused becuse this drama is fucking better than any fucking reality show Mum. Meanwhilethe songs have progressed from annoying the other to slightly flirtatious but still annoying but you’d only catch this if you’ve been paying attention.Consequently, only Person A, Person B and Person C have caught this.
However, whenever Person A and Person B cross each other’s paths, they remain nonchalant and greet each like they hadn’t been figuritively fighting the night before.
It’s Friday and Person C had had a bad day and they just want to rest and break away from the stresses of the week. The music ‘battle’ begins. Person C grumbles but ignores it they best they can because the bad day was’t cuz of them although they annoy their shipper heart to no end
After 15 minutes of obvious fucking music flirting the music wasn’t even that good like they seem to thinkPerson CSNAPS. Their voice rings throughout the two-storeyed flat:
“Would the two of you stop your flirting and just fuck already!”.
Distant laughter can be heard as Person A and Person B scrambles to shut down their respective music systems blushing furiously. A few moments of utter silence and a muffled exclaimation that sounded suspiciously like “fuck it!” was followed by silent knocking.
Needless to say The Music Battle never occured again. It was replaced by quient thumping noises but you already knew that ;)
People who constantly have to stress how good they are at video games are so exhausting tbh. Like when I’m telling someone how difficult I found a certain boss and that someone is immediately like Hahaha lmao lol I beat it on my first try haha :) That’s great, Timothy, I’m happy for you. But it doesn’t make you cool. You know what it makes you? A boring person to talk to.
I’ve been doing yoga for a little under a month now, and my general fitness and flexibility has improved so much already
At the start I could barely hold downward dog for twenty seconds, now I’m practically begging to get into it as release after a thirty second plank
I’m still (BMI speaking) obese, yet yoga at home is helping me improve my fitness and tone my body in ways that going to the gym just can’t
I honestly recommend yoga to anyone
You don’t have to be into the spiritual side of it, the health benefits are so great regardless
I’d recommend this twenty minute beginners video if you’ve never tried it before. Keep coming back to that video until it’s easy - you don’t need blocks or resistance bands, you don’t even necessarily need a mat, just 20 minutes and enough space to comfortably move (a front room or bedroom is perfect)
Once that video is easy, you can comfortably hold all the poses without needing breaks, you can move onto the 30 day yoga challenge - linked to Day One
Granted, I’m still a newbie when it comes to yoga, and fitness in general, but this is a fun, relatively easy, and most of all free way to get in shape and feel healthy
could you do a tutorial for drawing realistic faces? the faces of your rob paintings are so perfectttt
I WILL DO MY BEST OK so
this..i mean, this is just how i personally do it. there are probably better ways. i freehand, but i’ve been freehanding portraits for like a decade now, so note that practice is the key to this
so say you wanna paint some @stardustandmelancholy work. and whattaya know! what you wanna paint is mr. rob. nice. first thing’s first, i do a rough sketch. i mean, this is like, unpaved freshly dumped gravel rough. it’s just to give me a feel for my canvas and help me have a target to aim for with my guides
this is the reason i do digital instead of traditional–during this part i erase a lot (PRAISE THE UNDO), but i start blocking in a grid. if you see the face in squares, it’s basically all laid out for you. you can actually draw the features in as shapes at this point, but i am always too lazy to do this. it generally just leads to more erasing for myself
once i have my grid (which, doing this traditionally, i sometimes use a ruler to compare distances between features. with digital, you can do the same thing, actually–ps has a ruler! it’s with the eyedropper in CS5) i take a thicker brush to start doing actual facial features. these’re vague and sometimes where i stop if i’m not doing anything exciting with the sketch.
after that, i take a thin brush, and go over the sketch with correct/closer proportions/line weights. i’ll keep my sketch close and my reference closer. i’ll actually map out where the shadows are when i’m going to go in after it and paint. this seems meticulous, but once you do it a million times over, it becomes second nature and pretty dang speedy. you may struggle with proportions now, but once you’ve drawn enough faces (or the same one a lot!) you get a feel for where things should be anyway
once i have my finished sketch, i’ll go in with color, and that’s just a gradual build. the brush i used for it is actually just my sketch brush i used above, but with tablet pressure opacity enabled:
a lot of times in my life i’ve heard “YOU CAN’T JUMP AROUND A PAINTING! YOU HAVE TO FOCUS ON ONE PART UNTIL IT’S FINISHED” and that is…..no
no for me, that is.
say i get bored with a part of the beard, there’s a reason why, and it’s generally because it’s not coming together right. so you bet your sweet buns i’m gonna randomly drop working on a beard to work on a hat any day, because once i do that, i figure out why the beard was so boring and i make it exciting for myself again
learning art is different for everyone, and there is no set way. realism is difficult because you know what a face looks like, and you just want it to be. but you just gotta treat it like everything else! i can’t give many more technical or specific tips or tricks (i’m self-taught, so i really can’t help the way someone who knows how to teach this could) but i hope that gives you a little insight!
