i just really love the old west

I love how Avatar makes the nonbenders just as cool and powerful. It’s like saying “hey you don’t have these cool powers but you can still be like these awesome characters” Korra fell in love with a nonbender. The fire lord fell in love with a nonbender. The self proclaimed greatest earthbender of all time had a crush on a nonbender. Some people argue that the fire princess fell in love with a nonbender. The avatars son was (for most of his life) a nonbender. The two greatest warriors to come out of the water tribe were nonbenders. The universes greatest bounty hunter was a nonbender. The fire princess chose two nonbenders for her small elite team. Two thirds of the gaang were nonbenders. I just think it’s really cool.

The Old West

The Old West, once a vast unknown that stretched from the great plains of northern America to the deserts of the southwest, became a romanticized sub genre of landscape and history painting in American art. This remarkable blending of cultures–not only Hispanic and Native American, but numerous European groups and some east Asian immigrants–created a fascinating, but deadly, world of fabled gunslingers, vaqueros, Comanche chiefs, and adventurers. Some nineteenth and early twentieth century painters of the American West include George Catlin, James Otto Lewis, Frederic Remington, Charles Marion Russell, and George Winter.

“When a man or woman came West, their past became an unknown and the present became an open book. They soon became known by their actions or lack of. No one cared who your father was or what you had done. The only things that mattered were, that you were honest, had courage, and that you did your job.” – Louis L'Amour

Lostcauses Fic: Chrome

This is for @flecksofpoppy who pointed out that while there’s plenty of fan art of those leggings, they really deserve some fic.  Also for @fullmetallizard and anyone else who has grown to love Levi Ackerman’s fabulous fashion disaster.

“You’re not going out wearing that!”

Levi gapes at his flatmate aghast.

“Wearing what?”  Petra’s looks down at herself, nose scrunching into a little frown.

“That!” Levi waves his hand vaguely in his friend’s direction.

“You mean these?”  Petra peers at her shiny silver leggings, frown turning into something a bit more apprehensive.  “Why? Do they make my ass look big?” She cranes her head over her shoulder in an unsuccessful attempt to see her petite bottom.

“What the fuck? You’ve barely got an ass!”

“What’s wrong then?”

“Looks like something a twelve year old girl would wear.”

“No it doesn’t!” Petra huffs.  “I’ll have you know this jacket came from a chi chi little boutique in the West End and the leggings are from a really cool Japanese outlet online.”

“I don’t care where they’re from,” Levi snorts dismissively, “I’m not going out with you looking like that.”

“And who made you the fashion police all of a sudden?”  Petra pouts, sticking her chin out defiantly.

“Just saying…”

“Just jealous more like.”  Petra sniffs haughtily.

Well, fine then, Academy, if you’re not going to honor Robert Francis Vaughn, then I will–proudly.

His was a face I’d seen many times before I realized who he was–and when I did finally realize who he was, I fell in love.  It was his portrayal of Napoleon Solo that made me fall for him, but it soon became clear to me that any character he brought to life was wonderful and memorable–not just the brave, loyal international agent, but the skittish Old West gunfighter, the wealthy private eye, the authoritative General who could command anyone in the world except his former partner, the most adorable con artist in human history, and so many more.

But he was so much more than just a really good actor.  He was a true Renaissance Man–a man of the stage, the screen, the spoken word, and the printed word.  He was the biggest fan of Hamlet.  And he was an activist–speaking up for what he believed in, ready to take whatever consequences that resulted.

He was an actor.  An activist.  A writer.  An inspiration.

But, most of all, he was a wonderful, kind, and caring human being.

Introductory Post!

So since my blog has been up for a couple days now and the posts have started flowing, I gathered it was time for me to introduce myself!

My name is Cara and I’m 19 years old. I’m currently in my first year of university, studying Biochemistry (hence the url) at Swansea University in Wales. I’m not actually from Wales, I’m from the South West of England, but the area here is lovely so I don’t get homesick at all! My final exams for the year are starting up in just under two weeks, so I’ve made this blog after observing the community for probably around 2 years to try and kick myself into gear to get some good grades!

I’m really not the best for studying at all, and always end up putting it off for ages which is another reason I’ve made my studyblr, in the hopes that seeing everyones lovely work will encourage and motivate me to do my own work!

Some of the studyblrs that have inspired me to start off this blog are:

I also have an instagram (also biochemandthings) that I’ll hopefully start posting on soon!

i just really love old music???? idk I just listen to it so often. for hours bruh.

I don't think Iris would turn out like Elena in the S6 premiere. She'll most likely bury herself in her work. She kind of did the same with Eddie, but with Barry, it will just be a little harder. Barry is the love of her life and she really wanted to be his wife (Though Barry did say she always will be Iris West-Allen. Married in their hearts, can we say?). Just like in the comics, I don't expect her to get over him at all.

Oh, I’m sure she won’t resort to the measures Elena took either. But “a LITTLE harder” feels like kind of an understatement. I just think it would be nice if we could see her being a little sad (i.e. smelling his clothes, looking through old pictures, having moments by herself where she dissolves into tears or almost does). I agree she’ll focus on her work and on helping Wally being KF/The Flash though. Iris won’t completely fall apart. She’s so strong, and she promised Barry she’d keep living. I just need her to be human and reacting to the fact that she may never see the love of her life again.

5 Star Wars Spin-Offs That Need to Happen

Today, it was announced that Chronicle director Josh Trank would be directing an unnamed Star Wars spin-off movie, the second such film announced (Gareth Edwards is directing another set for 2016).

So far, the plots of both films remain unknown, although rumors suggest that one will focus on Yoda, and the other on Boba Fett and/or Han Solo. That’s all fine and dandy, but was I the only one hoping for something a little less obvious?

If we are indeed getting Boba Fett and Han Solo movies, why not a couple of these as well?

1. Vengeance for Lady Vader

One fascinating but underused element from prequels was Padmé Amidala’s cadre of handmaidens; a group of women who were willing to put their lives on the line for the queen and later senator of Naboo. And while some were spotlighted—namely Dormé and the decoys Cordé and Sabé—they weren’t really given much of a send-off. Now that two of those actresses are big names (Keira Knightley and Rose Byrne), I would love to see some early Rebel Alliance action from these fierce ladies. I also see room for Mon Mothma and a new Queen of Naboo.

Director: Maybe I’ve just watched Sense & Sensibility too many times, but I’m thinking Ang Lee is the man for the job.

Starring: Keira Knightley, Rose Byrne, Naomie Harris, Dominic West, Jay Laga'ia, Genevieve O'Reilly, Keisha Castle-Hughes.

2. Rogue Squadron

Denis Lawson may be playing hard to get, but he’s too old anyway. One of the best things about the Expanded Universe is the X-Wing series, so why not see something similar committed to film? A more small-scale adventure about diverse, ragtag group of rebels surviving deep space dogfights and evading the Imperial fleet should be an easy sell to Star Wars fans, as well as an opportunity to see some female and non-human Rebel fighter pilots on screen. And if the Rebellion era is too tired, why not set the film in the 30-year period between Episodes VI and VII?

Director: Who is owning wartime movies right now? One woman: Kathryn Bigelow.

Starring: Michael B. Jordan, Natalie Dormer, Evan Peters, Lucy Liu.

3. Jedi Purge

So far, press for Episode VII has played up audiences’ nostalgia for the original Star Wars trilogy, but avoided callbacks to the prequels. While that’s understandable given their place in the films’ chronology, it would be nice to see a cinematic bridge between the two existing trilogies. Fan-favorite Expanded Universe characters like Quinlan Vos and Ahsoka Tano are still canon and still alive during this period. Throw in backwater planets like Nar Shaddaa and appearances from Shaak Ti (Angela Bassett?), and I will buy out the whole theater.

Director: A splintered group of gifted people on the run from a faceless, monolithic enemy? He might be swamped these days, but I’m thinking Bryan Singer.

Starring: Chloe Moretz, Joe Manganiello, Angela Bassett, Hayden Christensen, Rila Fukushima.

4. Knights of the Old Republic

While many of the plot threads established in Tales of the Jedi and Knights of the Old Republic are no longer canon, there is no reason why the dawn of the Galactic Republic and Jedi Order can’t be explored. Characters in the films have talked a lot about the Sith, but we’ve only ever seen two at a time. A film set 2,000 years ago at the height of the Sith Wars would not only be a visual spectacle, but also largely free of any existing continuity restraints.

Director: I think the man who gave us both Othello and Thor, Kenneth Brannagh, is the person for the job.

Starring: Lena Headey, Anna Paquin, Gaius Charles, Jackie Earle Haley.

5. Maul Vs. Kenobi

When Star Wars: Visionaries was released, the idea of a resurrected Darth Maul hunting down Obi-Wan Kenobi was just a step beyond fan fiction. But it became a reality with Clone Wars gave Maul back to us, cyborg legs and all. While it would have to retread some Clone Wars material, a small-scale revenge story that calls back the greatest Star Wars duel ever seems like an obvious sell. And hey, why not throw in a bit of Bail Organa and tween Leia?

Director: The man behind 3:10 To Yuma and The Wolverine, James Mangold.

Starring: Ewan McGregor, Ray Park, Sam Witwer, Joel Edgerton, Jimmy Smits.

Watch: Super Junior’s Kim Heechul Teases Kyuhyun On “New Journey To The West 3”

Super Junior loves to show their affection by teasing each other!

In the first episode of MBC’s “New Journey to the West 3,” which was aired on January 8, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, Eun Ji Won, Ahn Jae Hyun, and WINNER’s Song Mino were waiting for their fellow cast members Lee Soo Geun and Kang Ho Dong to finish their filming for “Ask Us Anything.”

Just then, Kyuhyun’s bandmate Kim Heechul, also part of “Ask Us Anything,” suddenly arrived, and assimilated himself into the program naturally as he jokingly introduced himself as the new member of “New Journey to the West 3.” He then started to host in an old-fashioned style, which the producing director (PD) Na Young Suk promptly teased him for. But he brightly explained, “Because I’m working with Kang Ho Dong, I often talk like a host from the old days.”

Kim Heechul also expressed his surprise that Kyuhyun joined “New Journey to the West 3,” to which his bandmate replied, “Well, SM just put me here.” His glum tone caused everyone to burst into laughter. Unfazed, Kim Heechul jokingly announced, “Kyuhyun is going to the army right after filming ‘New Journey to the West.”

Before he left, Kim Heechul complimented Song Mino, saying, “Really praiseworthy, WINNER. The world’s true winner.” He also left Ahn Jae Hyun with a brief but impactful greeting as he told him, “I love you very much.”

Kekkai Sensen is another miracle type anime that I’m really not sure that it’ll get another season. That doesn’t detract from my strong recommendation though! Far from it, it actually just makes me want to show it off even stronger than ever! If you were following me for a while I also have a previous post on lots of why Kekkai is great. THIS one going into a large contingent of the various reasons, it’s only very very mildly a spoiler so feel free to check it out.

To boil down that post Kekkai Sensen has a wonderful very alive setting of New York City which feels more New York than many other pieces of media, despite the fact that it’s overrun by monstrous outer dimensional beings.

Kekkai is set in Hellsalem’s Lot, the renamed, re imagined New York after that previously mentioned overrunning of ‘demons’ or essentially otherworld immigrants. Very true to life NY doesn’t let something as simple as that keep them down even though their precious city is now taken over by these beings. Encased in a bubble the New Yorkers and these demons are forced to live and work together, and like any other group of people you get all different kinds. Everything doesn’t go swimmingly all the time though, despite being people these demons also work on a lot of different rules and biological inconsistencies, or they actually are just bad guys, and because of this there’s always some kind of catastrophic event happening in the city.

Enter our protagonist Leonardo Watch who obtains a great power that he doesn’t want at the expense of his only family through a great accident. He travels to Hellsalem’s because of the rumor that only the odd occupants of the city could help him with this power. Immediately like any other naive country boy the city swallows him up and he gets caught up in an underground shadow organization entirely through many goofs.

In that post I linked above I also go into the director of the series Rie Matsumoto whom I love to death and Kekkai is her anime through and through. The crazy story is made even better by her crazy visuals and style, she works in total symbiosis with the plot. She storyboarded large chunks of it and also is credited for the excellent sound design. Another thing I mention at length is the unparalled OST made by the newcomer Taisei Iwasaki. Kekkai is his first anime credit and let me tell you if he goes on to continue the trend he sets up with Kekkai he will be one of the best anime music producers ever. Whom I failed to mention in that previous post was Nightow Yasuhrio. His other big anime was the famed TRIGUN that captured the feel of the old west and wonderful protagonists. Also of note are the wonderful wonderful OP and ED by Bump of Chicken and Union Square Garden. Both visually great and total ear worms they really show off why this anime is special, I have a special love for the ED which I can’t hold myself back from just posting here.

Kekkai Sensen much like TRIGUN has an extended cast of truly awesome characters, a totally slick setting, and a neat plot. I hope to hell and back it gets another anime treatment. In the meantime please check it out!

Life Doesn't Wait

I’m Tired. I’m soo tired.

Not from a lack of sleep. But from a sheer amount of disbelief. From seeing this watercolor world we live in, slowly turning a light shade of tin. Smiles turning to frowns. Ups turning to downs. Some of us have lost our spark, lost our drive, lost our heart. And frankly I’m tired of it. I’m exhausted by the sight, of lives lacking a certain light. When each and every one of us deserves that right.

Now do me a favor and lend me your ears, keep your eyes peeled, keep them here. Poetry and fancy word play on hold, here’s a meaningful story I’ve never told. You see a couple of weeks ago, a day like any other, I was heading to meet up with some friends for lunch. And for some reason, I truly couldn’t be bothered with tackling the mess that is Los Angeles parking. So, I called myself a taxi. You see, I’m the type of person who likes to make conversation with pretty much anyone and everyone. Whether it’s an old lady at a bus stop or a barister at a coffee shop. People are people, and they all have something to say. After a few introduction sentences, me and this thirty something year old gentleman realized we were both creative types, originally from the mid-west, out here, in Los Angeles, pursuing our many artsy endeavors. We continued conversing, but quickly things got a little bit deeper. He asked “was your family okay with you moving out to a bigger city, and chasing such a alternative career type?” “Definitely!” I said, “They’re just happy I’m happy, and doing something I love everyday.” He continued saying “good. That’s really good you’re doing something you’re passionate about. A lot of people nowadays can’t seem to say that.” He hesitated slightly but then continued, “you know, my dad and brother worked night and day for practically their entire lives, receiving little pay for something they didn’t enjoy doing at all. They both always talked about how it’ll be worth it one day, we can spend our hard earned money later on. We will live a good life eventually.

But you know hat, neither of them got that.

My dad died unexpectedly four years ago, and my brother just last year. They’ll never get to live the life they always wanted to. So it’s honestly very nice to get to see people following their heart, and living their life now, rather then later.” And at that point, he dropped me off.

After only a ten minute car ride, I left with a new perspective in mind.

Life Waits For No One

If yours isn’t going the way you want it to. If you aren’t pursuing what you want to pursue. If you wake up with immediate dread, constantly saddened by the hours ahead. Moving through the days feeling lost and hazed. Holding back what you want to say. Waiting to be yourself, another day. All your dreams and desires put on hold, to be fulfilled maybe when you’re old.

You aren’t doing it right.

You aren’t living your life.

Eventually is not okay. Why tomorrow when there is today? I finally feel like I am finding my way. And not just living day by day. I’m doing what I love. I’m going where I want to go. I’m being who I want to be.

I’m Happy.

And you know what. I think everyone deserves to feel the same way.

Happy One Year Anniversary, my bbs!!!

Today, Black tumblr changed the way I view myself. My mom is white and hispanic and my dad (who was from west africa) died when I was six. I was never really exposed to my black heritage, just because no one was there to teach me. I didn’t know how to love myself, even at a such a young age. I was so surrounded by America’s Eurocentric view of beauty. These views were being pushed onto me by the media/tv etc, but surprisingly by other black girls/women as well. I started getting relaxers for my hair at around 8 or 9 years old because I was made fun of for having braids with beads and “fluffy” hair. I started realizing how wrong that was a few years ago and had my last relaxer probably during my freshman year of high school. Today I saw SO many incredibly confident black people on my dashboard and I couldn’t help but feel empowered. All of you made me realize that it’s time to be unapologetically black. It’s starting to get easier for me to see my own beauty. I’m proud of who I am. Thank you all so much.

Hey so i don't know if your post about Namjoon and him being problematic is old or not but i came across it and i just wanted to say thank you. I've been an army for almost 3 weeks now and i honestly love the boys i knew that them doing the kind of music they do would get a lot of heat for it. I am sad that Namjoon made those mistakes but i'm glad he's learning. I really wished that in AHL they would've teach the boys about racism and what it's ok and not. PART 1/2

Part 2/2. I’m not trying to excuse them because they did fuck up but i blame on the lack of education on the subject. Like i saw a video of girls talking about their experience meeting the grouo in LA and how they were teaching them the west side sign? Like i’m pretty sure that’s not ok. I really love the boys and i feel like they are genuinely good guys and the comments made were without malice. I just feel sad that they had to learn the hard way. I’m glad they’re learning. (sorry for the rant)

(Wow, I think this post is like…8 or 9 months old now? I’m glad its still useful and people are still reading it though ^^)

Yeah, a lot of it is lack of education. No matter how fluent RM is in English, he wasn’t raised in America so he’s not going to know the ins and outs of the different connotations certain words have. It’s only natural to know these certain “hidden” meanings words have when you have been raised in America.

Even so, I read this fanaccount literally….yesterday, and I think it’s more proof that Namjoon is a very dynamic person, who internalizes a lot of things and doesn’t always explain his thoughts…I think he’s a very self-reflective person, and people need to dig to actually understand him instead of taking him at face value.

(BTW this girl definitely went to the fansign; she receipts all over her twitter)

but it funny I seen people not liking ss in japan but I haven't seen not one person denied sarada birth especially after gaiden not one so the ones who obviously lack intelligence stem out west on tumblr youtube and naruto forums and I don't feel bad saying it you got to call a spade a spade 12 years old get it you know the target audience it really not Shakespeare people it not complicated and of all manga to overanalyze Naruto really not gantz berserk Tokyo ghoul drrr steins gate but Naruto

Haters win nothing by trying to prove Sarada as an experiment (which she’s not), they don’t even care about Sasuke, they just don’t like the idea of Sasuke loving Sakura and having a child with her, but it doesn’t change the fact that he did and he married Sakura and no one forced him to have a kid or marry.

We’re talking about Sasuke anyway, even a kid can tell Sarada is born from them? And how does Mitsuki being a clone affect Sarada and Sasusaku anyway? Are they still holding to that stupid theory? I swear, you only see this level of human stupidity in the western fandom I’m not even kidding this is embarrassing as fuck, lmao if they can’t even comprehend Naruto one of the simplest mangas over there, you can’t expect them to understand another thing, they will probably want to change every fact to turn it into their favor and dismiss everything the author says.

Sarada is Sasuke and Sakura’s daughter, deal with already, you don’t have to like it, no one is forcing you but don’t try to twist canon into some stupid and childish theory no one but you and your gang of delusional idiots believe lol.

Headcanon with what social medias team flash has and what they're like on there

Before I answer, I’m going to link a similar headcanon that @quickwest answered about Barry and Iris’s social media activity because I really enjoyed her take on it, and so much of it is in-character!

I’m also going to do this separately for each “Team Flash” character because otherwise it’ll just be too long.

Barry:

  • Facebook: So I remember in the pilot, Cisco had said that Barry loves Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” according to Barry’s Facebook page (which just LOL at Barry liking Lady Gaga). But that’s weird because that song was popular in like 2010 and that was 2014, so I’m going to assume Barry has a Facebook page that he legit just rarely uses anymore. Cisco only got the Lady Gaga Poker Face thing because he had scrolled through Barry’s page and found an old post which was Iris sharing a YouTube link to Poker Face to his wall with the caption, “Your favorite song! :P” (but she was making fun of him). He’s generally not a very social person, so of course his Facebook activity reflects that. We all know Facebook isn’t as fun as it used to be, so Barry’s been over it for years now. If you visit his wall, you might see a photo or two of him that he’s been tagged in by Joe or Cisco or Caitlin, but that’s it. You can still always see “Happy Birthday” wishes from his friends on his wall too (Happy Birthday, Allen. And that’s not an excuse to come in late!!! writes Captain Singh), and old photos from college, because that’s how little he uses it. He also has a few pending friend requests from some people he went to high school with that he doesn’t want to accept and likely never will. He uses  Facebook so sparingly that one day Iris realizes he never changed his relationship status after breaking up with Patty LOL like that’s how careless he is about his Facebook (and he only changed his relationship status anyway because Patty really insisted on it. She was one of those girls.). When Iris points that out to him, she expects him to just delete it because Iris herself doesn’t like to indicate her relationship status publicly either, but Barry custom changes his relationship status to “In love with Iris West, forever and always.” which gets him 100+ Likes, and it’s the most activity his Facebook has gotten in months. The comments are mostly from old college friends or people from high school and are overwhelmingly along the lines of, “It’s about damn time.” or “I knew it!” or “No surprises there!” One day Cisco is bored so he stalks Barry’s Facebook and “Likes” and comments on old ass embarrassing posts so they show up in people’s Newsfeeds and Barry deactivates Facebook after that.
  • Twitter: He does have a Twitter page, but again, Barry is just too busy to really Tweet and doesn’t have the personality to be active on any social media platform really. I agree with @quickwest: “Rarely does he post actual tweets, but when he does, his thoughts are random but hilarious.” or the occasional article Retweet. He also Retweets Iris whenever she shows up on his feed, no matter what she’s Tweeting about. He doesn’t just Retweet her, he’ll also “Like” her Tweet in question. Like it’s overenthusiasm about her and it’s adorable. He has maybe like 479 Tweets right now since he got a Twitter account years ago. His “Following” list includes Bill Nye, NASA, a “Science Porn” account, CCPD’s official Twitter, Minute Physics, and some Flash fan accounts (he can’t help it).
  • Instagram: “His Instagram is private but it’s full of Iris. He’s taken a sneak shot of her a few times before and uploads them with the heart eyes emoji and posts selfies of them together, and if not, then he gets videos of Cisco in STAR Labs being ridiculous and records Caitlin’s reactions to Cisco’s antics.” Yup, I agree with this from @quickwest. I’ll also add that Iris sometimes yells at him to delete those sneaky photos of her that she thinks aren’t flattering. Also he regularly posts photos of her with the caption, “#WCW (Women Crush Wednesday)”. Sometimes he does it not on Wednesdays and he doesn’t give a single care. “It’s not Wednesday tho,” Cisco will comment. Barry replies with the sassy girl emoji 💁. He also posts photos of her and captions them, “No filter necessary.”
  • Miscellaneous: Barry doesn’t have a Snapchat. Iris begs him to get one and he does according to @quickwest’s headcanon, but he never really uses it so he might as well not have one. He has What’sApp and he’s in several chat groups. One is him and Joe, Iris, and Wally titled, “The Wests and the White Shadow,” and another is Team Flash titled, “STAR Labs Forever” which Cisco is the administrator of. The group icon for that particular chat is Cisco posing his head over Barry’s Flash suit.

I’m going to also do Iris, Cisco, and Caitlin.

I’m Tired. I’m soo tired.
Not from a lack of sleep. But from a sheer amount of disbelief. From seeing this watercolour world we live in, slowly turning a light shade of tin. Smiles turning to frowns. Ups turning to downs. Some of us have lost our spark, lost our drive, lost our heart. And frankly I’m tired of it. Im exhausted by the sight, of life lacking a certain light, when each and every one of us deserve that right. Now do me a favour and lend me your ears, keep your eyes peeled, keep them here. Whether it’s an old lady at a bus stop or a barista at a coffee shop. People are people, and they all have something to say. After a few introduction sentences, me and this thirty something year old gentleman realised we were both creative types, originally from the mid-west, out here in Los Angeles, perusing our many artsy endeavours. We continued conversing, but quickly thing got a little bit deeper. He asked me, “was your family okay with you moving out to a bigger city, and chasing such a alternative career type?” “definitely” I said, “They’re just happy I’m happy, and doing something I love everyday.” He continued y saying, “good. But you know what, neither of them got that. My dad died unexpectedly four years ago, and my brother just last year. They’ll never get to live the life they always wanted to. So it’s honestly very nice to get to see people following their heart, and living their life now, rather then later.” And at that point, he dropped me off.
After only a ten minute car ride, I left with a new perspective in my mind.
Life Waits For No One.

Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers and Bob Dylan Live at 2011 Grammys

It’s only appropriate to post a Grammys performance throwback since the Grammys are on, right? This particular awards show is so bizarre to me; it’s supposed to be music’s biggest night, but it almost always ends up being a hodgepodge of artists that don’t belong together, forced into performing a mashup that none of them wanted to do.

Sometimes, though, they really hit the nail on the head - from Beyonce’s and Tina Turner’s rendition of Proud Mary to a heavily pregnant M.I.A. showing up T.I., Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West. My particular favorite performance, though, is this one from 2011. Is there a better old/new folk combination than Bob Dylan, Mumford and Sons, and The Avett Brothers? I don’t think so! I think they cover all of the bases!

I don’t have too much to say about this; you should just watch it for yourself. But I think I love this performance so much not just because of the artists involved, but because of how much fun Mumford and Sons and The Avett Brothers seem to be having performing with Dylan. So few people get the chance to work with their heroes, and that was a cool thing to see.
