@kentaruhinaka requested a Kallura fic where Allura and Keith have a fight and make up, so I wrote it. May not be exactly what you were thinking, but I hope you like this.
Author’s Note: This fic has MAJOR spoilers for season 2, so if you haven’t seen it yet, don’t read this fic. Also, with the way I wrote it, this fic can be viewed either as Kallura or as just a gen/close friendship/sibling fic. So, whatever floats your boat. ^_~
Title: Follow The Leader
Series: Voltron The Legendary Defender
Characters: Keith and Allura
Summary: After the battle with Zarkon, Allura feels the need to bring up a topic Keith doesn’t wish to discuss.
hi my friends – !! for the month of february, i really want to do IncWriMo – which means writing a letter to a different person for each day of the month. i need 13 more people to complete the month !! if any of you would like a letter, please comment on this / DM me ! even if we don’t talk a lot / at all, i’ll excitedly write you one !! i prefer to send them via mail, but if you don’t feel comfortable sending me an address, i can definitely scan the letter for you. ( but mailed letters can lead to pen pals or gifts, just sayin’. )
I just discovered there’s a lot going on in the young wizards tag and decided it needs a good high quality scan of the original cover art. Sorry about the crease; this book is 34 years old and I’ve read it a lot.
Mark didn’t hesitate, he pulled you onto his lap immediately causing you to giggle in shock.
He looked at you again in the same way he had just a few minutes earlier. It was a look of complete adoration and need. You felt as if you were going to melt. He bit his bottom lip as his eyes scanned your body.
“Mark,” you whispered… “I want you”.
Mark groaned at your words, they were all he had ever wanted to hear.
Author’s Notes: Guys – (Fair Warning) I feel like I am way better at longer multi-part stories, but after getting halfway through this I was determined to finish it. Also, for those of you that are caught up with “I Can’t Save Her” – I just felt like I needed to give you some fluff to bandage your emotional trauma with >.<
This was inspired by Death Cab for Cutie’s “The New Year”
P.S. A new part of “I Can’t Save Her” should be out on Monday <3
So this is the new year. And I don’t feel any different. The clanking of crystal Explosions off in the distance
Bucky shrugged his shoulders uncomfortably under the fabric
of his suit. He sighed as his eyes scanned the room. He had promised Steve that
he would come to Tony’s New Year’s party, but he now wished he could be anywhere
else. Occasionally people had tried to start polite conversations with him, but
the charm he had used to his advantage in the 1940s just wasn’t there anymore. He
waived for the bartender to bring him another scotch as he sighed to himself. He
spotted Steve in a corner – his lips locked with those of a pretty blonde’s. He
couldn’t help but chuckle to himself as he muttered, “Good job, Stevie.” He
hoped that the party would pass painlessly and quickly so he could retire to
his room and be done with socializing for another year.
So this is the new year And I have no resolutions For self assigned penance For problems with easy solutions
Throughout the course of the night people proudly spoke of
all the things they planned on doing for the new year. Bucky internally rolled
his eyes at most of them. It all seemed so pointless to him – within a few
weeks most resolutions would fall to the wayside or would conveniently change
because people didn’t want to adhere to them, but also didn’t want to be the
first person in their circle to break their resolution.
“What’s your resolution for the year?” one flirty girl had
asked him after she had droned on about starting a liquid diet to lose weight –
an idea that Bucky found absolutely preposterous.
“What?” Bucky asked distracted. He had stopped listening to
her at least ten minutes ago but had continued to add “mhms” and “yeahs” during
the appropriate pauses.
“I mean you must have some type of resolution! Everyone
does!” The girl motioned to several admiring suitors around her – she had
completely ignored them for most of her one-sided conversation and focused all
of her attentions on Bucky.
“Oh well…” Bucky was at a loss. He still wasn’t really
paying attention because he had become distracted by a guest who had just
arrived. His eyes were locked on hers from across the room. She was stunning in
a classic red dress with lips to match. Her brown hair fell beautifully around
her face as she removed her coat. Bucky swallowed hard as he continued to watch
her. “I guess to not kill people…” he half muttered – not taking his eyes off
the woman as she smiled politely at him from across the room.
“Oh… well that’s… um… nice,” the flirty blonde responded flatly.
“What’s nice?” he asked as he turned to look back at her,
but she was already crossing the room with one of the suitors she had been
ignoring. “Oh thank god,” Bucky muttered under his breath and he ran his hand
through his hair. He was completely relieved that she was finally gone.
“Buck – I’ve never seen a woman run away from a man that
quickly,” Steve chuckled from behind him as he slapped him on the back.
“Oh hilarious, Steve. I’m just glad she’s gone. Did you know
people do ‘liquid diets’ now?” Bucky asked half-amused and half-shocked.
“Oh yeah – it’s apparently all the rage now,” Steve
responded with a chuckle.
Bucky shook his head in disbelief. “I am never going to be
able to date a woman again. I swear, Steve.”
Steve laughed again. “Oh come on Buck. I saw that little
moment you had with our newest guest from across the room.”
Bucky felt himself blush. Oh what the fuck – he thought to himself. He was Bucky Barnes – a sergeant,
a POW, an Avenger, and Captain America’s best friend – he did not blush. He cleared his throat uncomfortably. “It was that
noticeable, huh?” He shot his friend a sarcastic smile, but he could feel his
heartbeat quicken at the mention of the woman.
“I’m pretty sure a blind man could have picked up on it,”
Steve chortled. “You should go talk to her. I think you would like her.”
“Do you know her?” Bucky asked surprised. The idea of
actually interacting with the woman made his heart race.
“Oh yeah she’s one of Sharon’s friends. Her name is Y/N. I’ve
met her a few times and she’s always been a really fun gal to be around,” Steve
said as he shrugged casually.
“I don’t know Stevie – maybe I should just stay at the bar,”
Bucky added. He was unsure of himself suddenly which was a problem he rarely
“Suit yourself, pal. Your loss,” Steve called over his
shoulder as he walked towards where the woman and Sharon were sitting.
So everybody put your best suit or dress on Let’s make believe that we are wealthy for just this once Lighting firecrackers off on the front lawn As thirty dialogs bleed into one
Bucky sat at the bar and tried his best to avoid small talk.
He shifted uncomfortably in his seat every time someone sat near him. He was
ready to leave, but it was impossible to escape back to his apartment without
Steve noticing – so he remained at the bar miserable and bored out of his mind.
Suddenly someone bumped into his arm causing him to spill his drink. He looked
up mildly annoyed to find Y/N looking at him apologetically.
“Oh god… I’m so sorry! I am such a klutz. I never wear heels
but my friend made me tonight. Let me get you another drink?” She asked with a
Throughout her rambling Bucky could feel a smile tugging at
the corner of his lips. “Oh it’s okay – really. I would let you buy me a drink,
but it’s an open bar so I feel like you would be cheating yourself,” he
She blushed violently and laughed as she shook her head at
herself. “Of course it is. I’m not used to parties like these – actually I
never go to parties if I’m being honest. Do you mind if I sit next to you?” she
Bucky smiled at her – he was grateful for the distraction to
help pass the time. “Not at all. I’m Bucky by the way,” he offered her his hand.
She smiled sweetly and took his hand firmly. “It’s kind of
hard to not know who you are,” she replied. Bucky grimaced at this – of course
she would know who he was. How many people had he killed publically during her lifetime?
“Oh no… not like that!” She responded after seeing his reaction. “I just mean…
well I’m friends with Sharon, and I know Steve so I’ve heard a lot about you. A
lot of good things. I’m Y/N by the way.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Y/N.” He couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she
was. There was something about her that reminded him of the times he used to
have before the War and the things that followed. It made him feel comfortable
and for the first time he was glad that he had agreed to come to the party.
They talked to each other for hours. The nervousness that
Bucky had felt when first speaking with her was a distant memory as they
laughed and drank. He discovered that she worked with Sharon at the C.I.A. and
had been stationed overseas for the last five years, but had recently been
relocated to New York. He also noticed that she seemed just as uncomfortable as
he was with all the people at the party.
“I swear there are more people in here now. I seriously can’t
stand this much noise,” she complained with a huff. Bucky grinned at her; he
had been thinking the same thing. “What is it?” she asked – her face with
tinged a slight pink from all the champagne she had drank.
“Let’s get out of here. I want to show you something,” he
responded bravely as he took her hand and pulled her behind him to the
“Where are we going?” she asked excitedly.
“Just wait and you’ll see,” Bucky responded as they entered
the elevator. He shrugged off his jacket and handed it to her. She graciously
accepted it as the elevator continued to rise. He felt sure of himself for the
first time in months, but he also felt his pulse quickening at the thought of
being alone with her.
I wish the world was flat like the old days Then I could travel just by folding a map No more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways There’d be no distance that could hold us back.
As the doors to the elevator opened to the roof of the
compound Y/N let out a gasp. “Are we going in that?” She pointed at the
“We sure are!” Bucky responded proudly as they walked
towards the helicopter.
As he was fiddling with the controls Y/N buckled her
seatbelt. She paused for a second looking unsure as to what she should say. “Are
you sure it’s safe?” she asked hesitantly.
“Of course it’s safe! I’ve flown more times than I can
count. Don’t you trust me?” he asked teasingly as he smirked playfully at her.
“Well of course, but I mean… you’ve been drinking…” She
blushed again. Bucky couldn’t help but smile at her. He found her inability to
keep from blushing at the slightest things to be adorable. It was one of the
first things he had noticed about her besides her beauty.
“I’m a super soldier, doll. I could drink that entire bar
and wouldn’t feel so much as a tingle,” he laughed.
She looked at him with a tinge of embarrassment. “Oh… I mean…
That makes sense I guess.” She smiled at him shyly as he adjusted the straps of
her belt to make sure she was safely in place. He paused for a moment after he
had completed his task. He was suddenly acutely aware of how close her lips
were to his. His breath caught in his throat as he looked up at her to see that
she had noticed it too.
After a moment he swallowed hard and patted her hand, “All
set. Let’s go.”
As they took off he was mentally kicking himself. What the hell, Barnes? Why didn’t you just kiss the girl? He
thought to himself. The moment had been
there and he had let it slip through his fingers. He couldn’t believe it.
“So where exactly are we going?” Y/N’s voice broke through
his inner monologue.
“Well you were tired of people – how about we spend New
Years watching them from afar?” he asked as he turned to her. She grinned at
him and looked out the window.
“Won’t we get in trouble?” she asked as she turned back to
look at Bucky.
He shot her a sly smile as he chuckled. “Did you see the
name on this helicopter? It says ‘STARK’ – we can get away with anything.” She
laughed with delight as Bucky neared Times Square. He sighed with relief – they
made it just in time to see the ball drop as a sea of people below cheered. Y/N
stared out the window marveling – only breaking to turn to Bucky and smile.
So this is the new year
Once they had safely landed back at the compound Bucky
helped Y/N unbuckle herself, and grabbed her waist to lift her out of the
helicopter. His actions caught her by surprise and she laughed while trying to
conceal her blush.
“So… everything you hoped for?” Bucky asked her hesitantly.
He hoped that she had enjoyed being able to ring in the new year without dealing
with so many people, but he suddenly felt a little unsure of what he had done. He
wasn’t one for grand gestures – especially for people he barely knew.
“It’s actually more than I could have hoped for,” she
responded sweetly. She paused as she looked up at him with a smile on her face.
“Well?” she asked as he stared down at her.
“Well, what?” Bucky asked surprised.
“Well are you going to give me a New Year’s kiss or should I
Before she could finish her sentence Bucky’s lips were on
hers. Her mouth was soft and inviting as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled
her closer to him. After some time, they both broke away breathless.
“You know what?” Bucky asked her as he planted a short sweet
kiss on her nose.
“What?” she asked as she rested her head on his chest.
“I think this is going to be the best year yet,” he
whispered as he gripped her tightly to him.
She looked up at him with a brilliant smile. “I think so
As they neared the elevator hand-in-hand Bucky felt
lightness for the first time since he could remember. He was sure for the first
time in a long time that he could be happy.
He was glad he had come to the ridiculous party after all.
