i just have so many feelings about these characters

Answer 11 questions then ask 11 more Pass, I don’t have any friends

1. Do you have a really niche interest which u feel very passionate about?

2. Is there any food very typical in your country that you can’t stand?

Hm…not that I ‘can’t stand it’ but I don’t drink coffee or tea. That seems unusual for people. Especially since I’m in college and a decent amount of students live on it lol

3. Do you prefer tv shows or films?

TV shows, I guess. I don’t see many films but…I rarely finish shows so…I mostly just dick around online lmao

4. What type of characters are “your type”? by this i mean which type of traits makes u almost always fall for a character

I’m stealing Jane’s list of types because BOY!! I got 3. I’ll even make crappy charts for em.

5. What has been the best thing that happened to you this week?

Hm….I got the last coconut macaroon at the bakery Friday…so uh that was pretty good. Lol last week was pretty boring sorry

6. Which type of clothing do u wear normally?

Always skinny jeans. Sliding scale of tops from fancy flowey ones to anime tshirts lol. And then usually keds or boots :^)

7. Favourite 2016 meme? 👀

KAZOO KID!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss him. I formed a bond with him. He really was my Special Friend.

8. Which animals do u think are the best pets?

Dogs! I hope I can get one in about a year. A life goal of mine is to get a little dog and name ‘em Kiwi ;u; (after my first Nintendog of all things lol)

9. Whats your fav music genre?

I have the worst music taste. I unironically enjoy Linkin Park and Skrillex and Hollywood Undead and throw up some ‘2 hr melodic dubstep mashup’ video on Youtube for background music when drawing lmao. So overall it’s like…a genre for an edgy teen? IDK.

10. Do you go often to the cinema?

Rarely. Maybe only every 3-4 months. Last time I went at the end of January for the YGO movie :D

11. Share the youtube video that never fails to make u laugh

It’s not really comedic…just cute…but watching this on loop always makes me smile the first time. Around the 4th time I start crying. I love this dog.

I said I don’t have friends so the tagging ends here.

today was a bad day. I said Anders raises too many red flags for me to be comfortable with him. I didn't want to talk about him because I felt uncomfortable and someone I thought was my friend screamed at me until I started crying. I have sever anxiety and she was accusing me of being prejudiced against bipolar people and I fell apart while she was yelling.

That’s horrible. A friend wouldn’t be so cruel to someone like that. Just because you don’t like a character or feel uncomfortable about a character doesn’t mean you’re prejudiced against bipolar people. I’m so sorry you went through an experience like that. It should never happen.

anonymous asked:

what do you think of killian packing a bag to leave without telling emma??? i thought it was really out of character and am not sure how to feel about him anymore. like should i still even like his character?

I hate to sound rude but I really don’t want anons coming to me asking me about whether they should like Killian or not. Like do what you want to do, I can’t tell you how to feel but I personally just don’t like talking about it because I WILL ALWAYS be a Killian fan so focusing on anything else is a no no for me. I do want to say this however.

These are not our characters. We don’t write them, and while we may know certain consistent traits of theirs; and these may be traits that we feel make them who we love and cherish as characters (namely Killian’s personality trait to never leave Emma sense that’s yours and many others focus) we have to remember a few things.

1. We know what we know of these characters CURRENTLY, but it doesn’t mean we know everything. These are crafted by creators who are not us. We are at their mercy. And while I do think talking about things that feel OOC for a certain character is totally normal and fine (i’ve taken part of these discussions) at the end of it all the characters are exactly who they’re meant to be because they are made and written by the people who created them.

2. I’d also like to mention that I feel like what Killian did was completely normal. In fact I related HARD CORE. People in fandom have this idea that once an arc is completed and a character learns a lesson they can no longer falter in that area anymore. And to that I say how realistic is that? How many times have you made a mistake and then never made a similar mistake again. If you’re human I’m guessing you tend to learn lessons a few times before they stick. For me as a person I learn something from my mistakes all the time and while I have gotten better at realizing certain truths and try to live by them I still slip up occasionally. I mean this is what even Emma herself was saying. That it wasn’t the slip up itself that mattered it’s what was done afterwards. So was it a totally normal thing for Killian to feel like he had lost everything and that leaving was his only option? Yes. Was it also totally normal for some outside force to teach him a lesson or truth so that he didn’t go through with something he MIGHT have done? (this time the outside source being snow) Absolutely.

These characters are supposed to be representations of real people at their core. And real people make mistakes, make rash decisions based on visceral feelings, slip up even in areas where they are usually MOST CONSISTENT, and sometimes learn lessons a thousands times over before they ever truly stop needing to learn them again.

Lapis is one of the most disappointing aspects of SU to me. When she first appeared I was so excited about her (Mirror Gem/Ocean Gem are still my favorite episodes)! I still can't believe how thoroughly they squandered her potential. This show doesn't know how to follow through on making characters that seem interesting at first actually interesting.

Like I feel like I should feel bad for excusing her being a shitty person in so many way, but on the other hand the writers never actually did anything with that aspect of her character besides tertiary skimming, and continue to just have her hang out like she’s done nothing wrong while Jasper rots, so like…who’s the fool???

I just want to talk about this. I see So Many backhanded compliments to The New Crystal Gems saying like, “it’s nice to have some realistic Lapis and Peridot interaction without Lauren Zuke’s shitty writing cramming the ship down our throat” or something like that, and, like, it was not bad writing?? It was not out of character or anything. As somebody trying to recover from depression, I found that one of the best things you can do for yourself is to surround yourself with positivity and go through the motions, and even if you don’t feel anything, you don’t feel bad, and you start to get better, and that is very clearly what Lapis is trying to do. She’s just riding the wave of Peridot’s genuine excitement of exploring every intellectual inch of life she never even knew existed before and, sort of hoping that if she plays along, some of that happiness may rub off on her. She’s watching her Earth show, making meep morps with her, helping her decorate the barn, even making music with her, and she smiles. There are moments where Lapis just smiles, and that’s her trying. I love the toilet meep morp scene in particular, because during this scene, the same dark ominous music that always plays when Lapis uses her water abilities plays, but what she’s using them for isn’t something out of rage or desperation, she’s funneling that same power she only ever associated with negative things into something silly and pointless that Peridot thinks is beautiful and makes her excited. This is Lapis healing. Peridot is the medium by which Lapis is healing herself, and that is beautiful writing.

do you ever just,,,

fall completely and utterly in love with a “fictional” character so hard that it hurts and you wonder if you will ever be able to feel this way about a tangible human being because surely that emotion can’t actually be possible when you feel it towards someone in real life… it’s too STrONg… And like you read so many fanfics but that little empty feeling inside of you just needs more and more and more until you have so many unfinished universes in your head. and you have these few people you just love so dearly and you cant communicate to, but you just want to tell them you’re proud of them in every single universe and you want to hug them but you cant, so you read some more fanfiction and fall asleep with it every night secretly wishing that “fictional character” was the one you fell asleep with?

cuz yeah me too

i have always always loved superman, like he was my fave and i lived and breathed smallville for an entire decade. but man. i am so fucking grateful for supergirl??? like the fact that she shoulders krypton’s memory all on her own. the language, the history, she and clark’s entire family. obviously clark didn’t have it easy being an alien on earth or whatever, but goddamn, kara danvers is one of the strongest characters i have ever heard of. girl has lost everything and she’s still so compassionate, so hopeful and loving. i just can’t get over it. i have too many feelings for her. i’ll post about sanvers and lena all damn day but never question the fact that i would fucking die for kara.

Lottie!!! Do you have any feelings about the accents of various Harry Potter characters?? I would love to hear about it bc I for one am very passionate about Sirius Black occasionally sounding EXTREMELY posh and feeling a bit embarrassed about it

I… have… SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT THE ACCENTS OF VARIOUS HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS!!!!!!!!!!

and by ‘the accents of various Harry Potter characters’ I mean the LACK THEREOF and the Overwhelming amount of Posh Wankers in this series. I MEAN. it winds me up MASSIVELY, and it also opens a can of wooorrrmmmss re: the wizarding population around the British Isles. like… We Need To Talk About Wales. caveat: this is all coming from a Northerner, so as far as I’m concerned the Midlands are in the South, but I’m going to try to be geographical instead of Northern about this.

SO, for those who can’t tell the difference between various UK accents/didn’t realise there were accents in England other than The Benedict Cumberbatch (which, if you’re going from these movies, is understandable), let me break down the film accents for you: McGonagall, Cho Chang and Oliver Wood are Scottish, Seamus Finnegan, Mad-Eye Moody and Luna Lovegood are Irish (Evanna Lynch is from the border region so her accent sounds slightly Northern Irish), Neville Longbottom has a Yorkshire accent (Yorkshire is a county in the North of England), Hagrid is from the West Country (which, despite how it sounds, is The South), and literally every other character sounds like they grew up below the Watford Gap. discounting the ones I’ve just mentioned, everyone else is Generic Southern or straight up Good Old Boy RP (Received Pronunciation, which is like standard BBC English that you hear on the telly/out of the gob of pretty much every HP character).

(I mean, in fairness, this wasn’t really a Movie decision. in the books the Midlands and the North are just places the Hogwarts Express has to pass through to get to Scotland. Harry is from Surrey, the Weasleys are from Devon, it never really says where Hermione’s from but judging by how her dialogue reads I’m guessing it’s The South, Sirius grew up walking distance from King’s Cross, Godric’s Hollow is in the West Country somewhere, Malfoy Manor is in Wiltshire, and even though the footy team you support doesn’t always indicate where you’re from we’ll ignore that in this case and say that Dean Thomas is from Stratford, East London. and those are just the characters I can remember off the top of my head. that’s a lot of southerners. like, Pureblood wizards seem to be mostly very old aristocracy (I remember reading that the Malfoys came over from France with William the Conquerer in 1066), so you could argue that, like, they all had wizard babies in/around the capital and they’re slowly but surely spreading outwards hence the CLUMP of southern wizards (not to mention they tend to stick together in communities like Ottery St Catchpole and Godric’s Hollow) but a) that is a stupid, reaching theory and I seriously doubt it, and b) even if it WAS true, MUGGLEBORNS EXIST! why aren’t there wizards popping up in, like, Liverpool or Salford or Birmingham? why is EVERYONE so goddamn WELL-SPOKEN???)

I do think about the accents thing a lot. and I get mad about the movies a lot. I mean, Hagrid’s accent reads as Yorkshire. he says ‘summat’! he’s the most Yorkshire thing ever!! and Dean has a Generic Nice Southern accent, not an East London accent! he should sound like Alfie bloody Moon!!! also, considering Godric’s Hollow is in the West Country, DUMBLEDORE SHOULD HAVE HAGRID’S ACCENT!!!!! I JUST DIE OVER THE TERRIBLE ACCENT CHOICES FOR THESE FILMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY WOULD YOU LET MICHAEL ‘I DON’T NEED TO READ THE BOOKS’ GAMBON DO A WEIRD DRUNKEN IRISH LILT WHEN HE COULD HAVE BEEN HAGRIDDING EVERYWHERE!!!!!! (also if Voldemort hadn’t ruined everything and Harry had been raised in Godric’s Hollow he would also have a Hagrid-ish accent. amazing.) AND, according to the HP wiki, Little Hangleton is in the North somewhere, which means Gaunt cottage is in the North somewhere, which means VOLDEMORT IS NORTHERN. LOL. take a moment for that one. let it sink in. Voldemort is my past, present and fookin’ future, innit.

BUT YEAH. ANYWAY.

so if we’re going by the books there’s literally one Scottish person and one Irish person that we know of at Hogwarts (AND one of them is a teacher, AND I don’t think either of them were ever SPECIFICALLY said to have a Scottish/Irish accent). which begs the question: where the fuck is everyone who isn’t middle class English going to school??? what the hell is going on here???? as far as we know there is one (1) Irish student and this school and no (0) Scottish students. which… is wild. especially because the entire Irish quidditch team must have passed through the hallowed halls of Hogwarts in the preceding 10 years, but suddenly: a dearth. AND THERE’S NO WELSH STUDENTS! WHERE ARE THE WELSH? obviously the Holyhead Harpies are a Welsh team, and the common Welsh Green is a Welsh dragon, and Dai Llewellyn who had a ward in St Mungo’s named after him sounds Welsh, and I’m pretty sure Helga Hufflepuff was from Wales*, SO WHERE ARE THEIR SPROGS AT?

*IIRC aren’t the four founders all from different countries? I’m sure it’s at least implied by the Sorting Hat at one point. like ‘Gryffindor from wild moor’** = Dartmoor, I assume, as Godric’s Hollow is in the West Country = England, Ravenclaw’s from ‘glen’ = Scotland, I’m sure there are glens in other places but SCOTLAND, Hufflepuff is something something valley? again, valleys are everywhere, but whenever someone says ‘valley’ my brain immediately puts on a Daffyd Thomas voice and goes ‘IN THE VALLEEEEYYYSS’ which it certainly doesn’t do for any other country, so = Wales, and SLYTHERIN = FEN = Ireland has a shitload of bogs and fens and stuff. plus Slytherin is green, Ireland is the Emerald Isle, I’m just REALLY GLAD SLYTHERIN’S IRISH HAHA ÉIRE GO BRÁCH LOSERS

**FOR THE RECORD the HP wiki told me Godric’s Hollow is in the West Country, and that seems very likely as the North of England doesn’t seem to exist in the HP canon, HOWEVER I PERSONALLY choose to believe that the ‘wild moor’ is in fact THE YORKSHIRE MOORS and that Godric Gryffindor, like Tom Marvolo Riddle, is a top lad innit mate.

but back to The Absent Welsh: I like to think that maybe they’ve set up their own school. it’s a weekly boarding. everyone speaks Cymraeg. all the Irish and Scottish students go there too because they fucking hate the English. it would certainly explain the lack of Scottish, Irish and Welsh students at Hogwarts. they’re all just getting on with it in Wales somewhere. probably Anglesey. or maybe there are actually wizarding schools that are just normal day schools and Hogwarts is just the famous one because it’s a big, old, prestigious boarding school. considering Harry apparently had his name down since birth… MAYBE HOGWARTS IS THE ETON COLLEGE OF MAGIC! THIS IS MAKING SO MUCH SENSE!!! all the middle class English lot are like ‘oh darling, you simply must go to the Eton College of magic!!’ meanwhile muggleborn Gary ‘Gazza’ Bloggs from the Wirral is like ‘nah mate I’ll just go t’ t’ local like.’

(SPEAKING OF ETON COLLEGE, Justin Finch-Fletchley had his name down for it, which is aaaaabsolutely hilarious. Eton is an independent all-boys boarding school which costs roughly £37,000 ($48,000) per academic year. if Justin hadn’t been a surprise wizard he probably would have gone to Eton, gone to Oxford, joined an elite drinking club, burned money in front of homeless people, rattled a dead pig and then become Prime Minister. but instead of doing all of that he has to go to a PUBLIC SCHOOL with negligible rules, very little uniform, girls, AND he can’t even tell any of his posh little mates about it when he goes home to MUMMY for the VAC. to top it all off he’s gone from being a Good Old Boy Top Shelf Jolly Hockey Sticks Young Chap on the path to upper class glory and the Houses of Parliament to being a MUGGLEBORN HUFFLEPUFF i.e. the bottom of the Wizarding world/Hogwarts food chain. but never mind, eh, he seems pleased enough. bet he has a CORKING accent, what!)

even though my Average Joe Wizard High School idea is definitely not true, I definitely 100% feel like Ireland should have its own wizarding school. the Republic of Ireland’s relationship with The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is so long and arduous that even I, who has an Irish mother, can’t keep it all straight in my head, but basically Ireland is not part of ~the UK~ or ~Great Britain~ even though it is part of the British Isles, so they really need their own school. (tbh I’m low key offending myself by talking about this like they Should have their own school rather than They Have Their Own School, Obviously, but… whatever.) THEY ALSO SHOULD HAVE THEIR OWN MINISTRY OF MAGIC! they might have! we just don’t know! why didn’t Harry make better friends with Seamus!!! UNLESS, of course, wizards don’t trifle themselves with Muggle Affairs and didn’t get involved with the Irish revolution and the Troubles etc. (although considering how the Order of the Phoenix being founded/the war really kicking into high gear coincided with the Winter of Discontent/widespread right wing sympathy across the UK… I doubt it), and so Irish wizards are still being governed from ~Westminster. but again, if that’s the case, WHY ARE NONE OF ‘EM GOIN’ HOGWARTS??????? WHY IS SEAMUS FINNEGAN THE LONE IRISH DIASPORA AT WIZARD SCHOOL????

I… literally cannot believe how Away from me this has Gotten.

accents. okay.

yes, Sirius Black accidentally being EXTREMELY POSH is something I am very passionate about also. he tries to mask it by being all rebellious and Landaaaannn about everything but fails miserably because every so often he’ll say ‘one’, and when he’s tired or excited he’s just like… the Queen on steds. arrived at Hogwarts fluent in French and passable in Latin. knows how to use so many forks. a prank goes right and he’s like ‘YESSSS TOP SHELF, BOYS! ABSOLUTELY BANG ON!’ James is also posh but posh in the rich, big old farmhouse, Barbour jackets and Hunter wellies way, so he gets away with it because he’s never been to a cotillion and doesn’t sometimes slip and say ‘spiffing’. meanwhile Remus is from the Midlands in my heart (maybe Shropshire)*** and is just very normal and not at all impressed by these posh knobs he has to share a bedroom with. Peter is probably from somewhere with an accent that grates on you after a while, like Birmingham. (no offence @Brummies.) according to the HP wiki (it’s teaching me SO MUCH but literally where tf are they getting this info) Snape is from the Midlands, which means that surely Lily is from the Midlands, because they met when they were playing out as kids!!! this Excites Me! also imagining Snape with a Wolverhampton accent is just… exquisite.

***I know a lot of people are All About Scottish Remus and while that is second in my heart to Midlands Remus it is certainly In My Heart.

I love and support Neville Longbottom having a Yorkshire accent because I, too, have a Yorkshire accent, and his in the films means SO MUCH TO ME!! he’s OUR BOY!!! GO ON, LADDDD!!!!!! etc. I really want Lee Jordan to have a Limmy-esque Glaswegian accent, because IMAGINE him doing the quidditch commentary and just getting more and more incomprehensibly Scottish, and McGonagall keeps yelling at him because she can actually understand what he’s saying whereas everyone else can just manage to catch ‘Slytherin’ and ‘cheating’ and ‘10 points’ so they’re just like ‘???!!!!! ! !! ? !!’ also I’m a big fan of Bristolian Lavender Brown, for no other reason than I just thought of her greeting Ron by saying ALRIGHT MY LUVVER and nearly died.

in conclusion, you could say that I do indeed have feelings about the accents of various Harry Potter characters and I hope you weren’t lying when you said you’d love to hear about it.

one of the million things i really loved about Moana was that she starts off being totally prepared to be chief?? like within the first 15 mins of the movie, she’s ready to go. and not even in an overzealous way that needs correction. she’s completely naturally capable and her people love her and she has great ideas and teaches her customs to the younger kids and learns from her dad and ultimately she even wants to be chief. i feel like in so many movies, especially disney ones, they have the main character’s arc revolve around becoming a better version of themselves so they can learn to lead or love or understand responsibility or whatever. but no, Moana doesn’t need any of that. and that’s just AMAZING. cause her journey gets to be about realizing that the call she’s trying to heed is actually a strength inside her that she should embrace!!! because it doesn’t detract from her being a leader, it actually enhances it and connects her more to her past and her ancestors and gives her a confidence in her choices and adskl;fjkdals;fjkl;dasf I JUST WANT TO SCREAM, I REALLY LOVED MOANA???

glitteryytrashh  asked:

Hi Cassie! I'm such a fan of the series and especially the new one, and I was just wondering if we're going to see Kieran's POV in LoS? Thanks so much!!!

I don’t think so, no – But there is a good reason. You still get lots and lots of Kieran.

Picking POV is always complicated. I once remember hearing that every POV added adds 100 pages to a book and my books are real long as it is, so I have to be pretty careful. Often when I omit a POV it’s because there’s something the character knows I don’t want the audience to know, even if it’s just how they feel about another character. But I actually think you can learn just as much about a character through having a different POV observe them as you can in their POV – you may in fact learn more of the truth of them, since people have so many illusions about themselves.

Beauty and the Beast (Remake) Review

This is going to be a spoiler free review, so I won’t be able to go into too much detail, but let me give you a short preview of what I feel about the movie: It was utterly and undeniably magical!

I just left the cinema and instantly made my way home and to my laptop to write all this down so I would not forget a single thing I wanted to share with you guys, because let me tell you there is so much to say about this movie and all of it is good. Over the past couple of weeks I have seen so much negativity surround this movie, so many people threatening to boycott yet another movie they haven’t seen on the sheer basis that a character was supposedly gay and once more mistreated for it.

I write this to share with everyone willing to read just what an amazing experience it was watching this movie. I want to preface the following review by saying that both my best friend and I are not overly emotional people. Neither of us cry at the drop of a pin, especially not in the cinema. Yet in the matter of ten minutes both me and my friend had our first tears in our eyes. I say first, because the movie takes you on quite the emotional ride and it is magnificent. Now, I’m no professional, but I’d consider my opinion rather objective and trustworthy. Of course, I’d suggest you go see the movie yourself nevertheless.

Let me begin with the basics such as scenery, music and cast. The scenery was quite literally breathtaking. The second Emma Watson stepped out of her little home in that little village of France you are there with Belle. I had the pleasure to watch the movie in 3D IMAX and it was absolutely worth it. I’d recommend for anyone to pay those extra bucks, because I feel it really added to the tone of the movie.

While the CGI was certainly visible at times and slightly over the top for my taste here and there the overall feel of the movie is not damaged by it at all. Wherever the movie takes you, it seems real despite of it. The camera work is to thank for it as well, as it really helps to set a specific tone. All in all the movie does great in making you feel a certain emotion at the appropriate time by using all the means they are given to do so; including the sets and the way the camera is handled.

The music and especially the musical numbers were quite mesmerizing. Amongst the familiar classics like Beauty and the Beast itself the movie offered some new pieces as well. Especially one towards the end – sung by Dan Stevens as the Beast – caught my attention and heart in particular. They use the songs not only to entertain, but also to convey emotions and a deep insight into the characters themselves. Some performances I liked better than others – I was disappointed by the audible autotune used on Emma Watson herself – but overall the numbers were all equally entertaining.

As for the cast I have to admit I had my doubts. I was especially worried about Josh Gad as Le Fou as I’ve gotten to know him as a pretty poor comedic actor. I say poor as most jokes are at the expense of him and his weight rather than made by him. After watching the movie I can say that I could not be more pleased with the casting, even Josh Gad. I was honestly surprised as to how well he handled the role and happy to see him take on a more serious side. Of course he was still funny, but this time the humour wasn’t at his expense, but rather due to his wit and clever sarcasm.

Now I want to tackle the characters, specifically taking the accusations into account, and talk about how the movie performs in comparison to the old classic we all know and love. While a lot of the original story has remained untouched and recognizable, there still have been quite a few tweaks and they were for the better. They made the story more understandable, the characters more memorable and real. I am happy to note that the characters are granted a new depth they were lacking in the original. Thanks to that the story is much better fitting for our time, age and new audience.

Gaston I was especially pleased with, for multiple reasons. Towards the beginning of the movie I found him to be rather charming which was a clever move to make. It only made him seem worse when finally his facade dropped later on the movie. It makes you truly detest his character and therefor the movie managed to create a good villain in him. Despite being the bad guy, however, his relationship towards Le Fou is in no way hateful. In fact, their friendship is one I considered to be one of the most interesting in the entire movie!

As for Le Fou, I dare say he was one of my favourite characters. Contrary to his original counterpart he is in no way a fool. In fact, he is the one keeping Gaston in check, knowing his best friends behaviour, trying to keep him in line while simultaneously taking his jabs and making fun of him as well. Compared to the original, their relationship is much more equal and lighthearted. Gaston is still the dreamy guy everyone is into, but he doesn’t treat Le Fou as a peace of shit for it. In fact, despite his obviously homoerotic undertones, even towards Gaston, the latter never once ridicules him for it. Not only that, but Le Fou undergoes great character growth over the course of the movie and it was a pleasure to watch.

As for the Beauty and the Beast themselves, there is not too much to say. The characters themselves weren’t changed too much and yet there was still a fresh air about them. It’s hard to explain without giving too much away. However, I can say that both of them are obviously flawed and both of them undergo a growth as well. Not only the Beast but Belle too. Instead of brushing their flaws off once the plots wants them to be in love they are openly addressed and worked on. Both parties realize their mistakes and even admit to them. It certainly was a nice, little change and I happily watched their relationship develop step by step.

As for a direct comparison of the original to the new one I can say without doubt and guilt that the new movie is better. A lot of the flaws of the original – whether due to ignorance or because of the time it was created it – were taken care off in this movie. The Stockholm Syndrome people accuse the original of is handled better and I say this with a particular conversation in mind that directly addresses the issue of freedom there is for Belle. The movie also works much better in establishing the character, their relationships and especially their pasts. You get to know more about Belle and the Beast that give you a better insight into them and explain, to a certain extend, why their relationship develops the way it does.

So, in conclusion, the movie does great in sweeping you away into a beautiful, magical world. It has a great tone, the music is catchy, the scenery is breathtaking and it hits home in just the right places. While the original was beautiful and unique to experience and is an irreplaceable part of many childhoods, it was extremely flawed. While it isn’t to say that this version is not flawed – it undeniably is – the new Beauty and the Beast managed to give you nostalgia without making the same mistakes as its predecessor. It adds a new depth and strength to our already beloved characters that make me happy in the sense of knowing that another generation will grow up with a better version of our childhood heroes.

noct loves prompto so much you guys

(So I was going to attach this to this post but everything spun wildly out of control. I have too many feelings about this okay.)

Noctis has spent his whole life surrounded by people who have simultaneously babied him and pushed him to the limits of his abilities. Just look at Gladio and Ignis–always there to support him in his daily life at the same time that their job is, literally, to mold him into a flawless leader above any reproach.

And more than that, Noctis is never around anyone openly vulnerable. He grows up around war heroes and politicians and people whose response to failure or trauma of any kind is to shrug it off or grin and bear it. Even his own father has to be stoic despite pain and strife; he’s so endearingly awkward when he bids farewell to his son at the start of the game, unable to offer any comfort or show any grief beyond a small plea for Noct to remain strong in the face of adversity.

You can see how Noctis has internalized all of this; how he becomes emotionally remote whenever catastrophe occurs. When his father dies, when Luna dies, when Prompto is captured, he doesn’t allow himself to cry or seek comfort from anyone. He distances himself, puts up a front. Turns inward.

But then there’s Prompto.

its just that so many people forget how powerful Nico is like a lot of the fandom and even a bunch of the book’s characters like he’s so powerful  he took the Ghost King title from King Midas, he phased someone out of existence, he shadow traveled across Europe and the Atlantic ocean, he led an army of the undead against Kronos, HE SURVIVED TARTARUS ALL. ON. HIS. OWN.

he’s literally powerful as hell not to mention he’s a child of the Big Three like there’s a reason they had a pact to not have more children(not that Zeus and Poseidon kept it up) their kids are THAT powerful bit Nico’s so unappreciated like he’s only 15 but might just be more powerful than Percy like why is no one talking about this Italian powerhouse why do i never see more Nico appreciation posts hes so bamf

Newt Scamander Rant

Recently, people have been asking me about fantastic beasts and in complete honesty, I’m absolutely terrified to tell them everything I know. To show them hoe much this story and these Characters mean to me. It’s truly a horrible feeling. I’ve been obsessed with the Harry Potter universe for my entire life, everything about the Wizarding world just makes me feel wonderful but, I’ve definitely been told to “shut up” about it. Every time I want to talk about Newt Scamander, I just know people give me strange looks. Ever since elementary school to even now, I feel constantly judged for loving the Harry Potter world and you know what, it bothers me. Fictional characters have helped me through so much more than my friends or my parents have.

When a character gives you a new outlook on life

Or has a character who is socially awkward like myself and many others

It really makes having anxiety and being a socially awkward person who’s afraid of showing emotion that much easier. Newt obviously has had friendship problems in the past, like me and like him I need to learn to not dwell on the past. Why do people think that people who actually find comfort in someone fictional to be strange? I just don’t understand. These characters make me feel whole. The traits I have are reflected in a character, and they aren’t mocked or embarrassed by said traits. hell yeah I'm going to feel a connection to them. Newton Artemis Fido Scamander is just the kind of person I want to be. He knows he doesn't fit in, He knows others look at him weird, he knows how cruel humans really can be. I want to be able to be okay with all of these things.I want to be okay with people thinking I’m annoying or that i have interests in strange things. His philosophy actually helps me go through my day, every time I start to worry, I remember what he says. These aren’t just some book characters who we forget about when we’re done, These people help shape who we are. It’s not just Newt, different characters help different people and I am sick and tired of feeling ashamed of for loving the people who make me feel happy. So what if i love Newt Scamander, he is literally one of the only reasons i stay alive so if you think that’s stupid, that it’s childish, then go find a character who does make you understand. We all need one.

I’m growing right before your eyes

Song is “Young Man in America” by Anaïs Mitchell, which is a song I have many, many feelings about. There’s a violence and harrowing feeling to the song, but in the end there’s a sense of contemplativeness that  I feel really fits with both Alfred’s character and just… this country itself. "There’s a feeling that the American is something of an orphan, that we can’t trust we’re going to be taken care of,” says the songwriter in reference to uncertainty and unease in this country, but at the same time I feel like there’s a lot of hope, which is necessary to survival, which i tried to sort of capture with this little piece. :0

Thinking about possibly expanding to do the entire song in the black/white/gold style just to see how it’d work out, but I was struck with emotions for APH America while watching the PBS Hamilton segment, so I had to do something featuring him. Hope you enjoyed!

So I’ve been watching The Flash and Arrow, both shows I really like, though not as much as Supergirl. And on both, there have been multiple occasions where a character openly flirts with, dates or sleeps with her boss, and it’s just not considered a big deal at all. It’s not a hindrance. And it got me thinking about how with Cat and Kara, so many people seem to think it’s a huge issue. Even I have written it into my fics as a necessary but surmountable obstacle, because in the real world it no doubt would be. But, I can’t help but feeling like there is much more permission and suspension of the rules given to heterosexual pairings in these stories. If Cat were a man, people would absolutely, undoubtedly recognize the chemistry and possibility between them. It would become another “will they won’t they” moment in pop culture history just like so many other straight ships, like Bones, like Castle, like The Office, just to name a few of the literally thousands there have been. So you know what? I’m sick of all the excuses and heteronormative bullshit that people spew trying to say SuperCat isn’t completely and totally legit. They should not be held to a higher or different standard than any other two people who work together and fall in love with each other. When the chemistry is there, it’s there, and fans see it, and sometimes if we are lucky the writers and producers see it too. Still holding out hope that this amazing, radically inclusive and progressive show will just fucking go for it.

To a great writer and Sanji. I always enjoy your presence here, you always seem to brighten up my dash so I just hope this gift can do the same for you as well !

In response to the ask reply, I also have a muse I can’t shake off and I know how it feels to just love a character so much. And I’ll repeat it again because you’re far too humble— You always do wonders with Sanji’s character, it’s hard to believe he’s not yours at times! (oda should take notes tbh) And the fact you’re able to do so much, so many threads on a daily basis proves how much you care about both him and your many rp partners. I’m always amazed by how much you do here, really. You’re an absolute treasure to this fandom.

        Keep up the amazing work!

(early) Merry Christmas !!

I think the only romance in this trilogy will be between Finn and Kmt's character. Rey and Kylo are either going to have a familial or platonic relationship. (because Disney knows a lot of people would complain about the first female protagonist of Star Wars having a romance, and worse, with the villain.)

You know, I guess I’m one of those people who’s just very positive about Reylo because I believe it will be romantic and mutual. But seeing as how things ended between Rey and Kylo in TFA maybe the idea of the villain’s love being reciprocated by the hero is a little too optimistic.
Or not.
After all, Star Wars at its heart is an optimistic tale and I guess I take that as a cue to be liberal and optimistic with my predictions, which I guess I have every right to be. But you could be right anon; Reylo could turn out to be platonic in the end. But I know why I ship Reylo and what drew me to it in the first place.
Moving on to your point about Disney being worried about what people think, I’m sure they know what they’re dealing with and I’m sure they knew when they bought Star Wars off George Lucas, that it’s the kind of franchise that is bound to attract at least some controversy no matter what.
I bet you George Lucas thought long and hard about whether or not to make Anakin murder those younglings, or whether or not to make him choke his pregnant wife in a movie that is supposedly aimed at children. But at the end of the day, it didn’t matter, because it all just served a story that we knew was going to end on an optimistic note. Anakin would be saved by the power of unconditional love. That was George Lucas’s vision and he went through with it. It was controversial to say the least and some people complained that the portrayal of Anakin’s descent into darkness made his redemption less believable. But that’s not the point of Star Wars.
Star Wars is not some revenge fantasy. It is, to quote George Lucas, “Love people, that’s all Star Wars is”. Luke saved his father (the villain) with the power of love. Well, he didn’t exactly ‘save’ him, Vader redeemed himself through his own actions, and Luke just showed him the light and was willing to give him a chance. So why can’t that be the same with Rey? Why does the heroine have to be treated differently and why isn’t she allowed to love romantically, if that’s what she chooses? Why can’t her love be someone else’s guiding light? Of course she doesn’t need a romance, but that doesn’t mean she won’t want one. I’ll never forget how Rey was introduced to us, as a lonely young woman who was literally starved of not just food, but of love as well. She is someone who is searching for a sense of belonging (which I’m guessing means love, because that’s what she’s expecting from her family, who are never coming back) so if that love comes in the form of a romance, so what? If we look at Star Wars as a myth (which it is by the way) love in whatever form carries equal power whether it be familial, platonic or romantic. So if Rey is allowed to love Kylo platonically, why is that love not allowed to be romantic, if all love is equal and is supposed to be a much more powerful force than sexual desire?  Also, let’s not forget how JJ Abrams mentions in his TFA commentary that Rey will get the belonging she seeks, eventually, but not in the way she expects, which is something worth thinking about.
And as for Disney’s stance on villain/hero romance, one of the novels from the new Disney canon, Dark Disciple, features a romance between a hero and a villain and this beautiful foreword by Katie Lucas:
“At its core, Dark Disciple is a story of redemption; a story of how people can be unbelievably broken, and yet find a way to rebuild despite the odds. All of us are given chances time and time again to transform our lives, and it is our responsibility to seize those opportunities before they disappear.“
(I just feel like this sums up Star Wars for me)
I don’t think Disney cares if the inevitable happens and a few people on Twitter or Tumblr or a few journalists end up bitching about the direction of the story. I’m sure they’re used to it. They’ll just shrug their shoulders and then proceed to collect the millions of dollars they will undoubtedly get out of this trilogy. But at the same time that doesn’t mean that they’ll accept a terribly executed story. I believe we have no reason to worry about the execution of a potential romance between Rey and Kylo. There is a whole storygroup devoted to the sequel trilogy at Lucasfilm who’ve probably spent the last few years mapping out its direction. They set up an amazing, powerful dynamic between Rey and Kylo in TFA, they know who Rey and Kylo are and I’m fairly positive they know exactly what they’re doing. Maybe a romance will happen, maybe it won’t, but I’m certain about one thing: Rey and Kylo will be very important to each other going forward.

Hi! I'm writing a novel with Latinx characters and I was wondering if you had any offensive things that you've seen in media about Latinx characters? I'd really like to avoid that stuff, and I know exactly how it feels to have your culture misrepresented, so.

Hey, that sounds amazing!

Just to name a few of the most common things:

  • Fetishization of our language. Often times Latinx characters only speak Spanish during sexually charged or angrily charged moments. Our language is not a kink to be used to fuel the idea of the spicy or sassy “Latinx” (This is not to say that there aren’t many Latinx who are very sexual beings as well as very passionate and quick to anger ex. Me)
  • There is nothing wrong with being a maid or a work hand on a farm. Plenty of Latinx especially our parents who came here with nothing not even knowing the language have taken on these roles of the “help” but not every Latinx should be.
  • We span over 20 countries our cultures are so diverse. I can tell you right now that while we hold strong similarities many things can be different. Just a few examples. Being Cuban I eat tamales just like many mexicans, but I can tell you that what they call tostadas and what I consider a tostada are completely different. In Cuba there’s a popular dicho ‘me tienes la cachimba llena de tiera’ which basically translates to ‘you got me fucked up’ ask a Nica to tell you what cachimba means to them and we got a whole different conversation. Hell even our music doesn’t carry over.
  • WE ARE NOT A RACE! There are white Latinx, Asian Latinx, Mestizx Latinx, Afro Latinx et.c Sofia Vergara and JLo while both beautiful women should not be what every Latinx in your story looks like.
  • Religion is very important to many latinx. But if you are going into writing about the practice of Santeria or as many of us refer to it Regla de Ocha please please please contact someone and spend a lot of time learning about it, it is complex and it is usually depicted in a negative light with sacrifices and black magic. Also Jewish and Muslim Latinx exist (crazy concept that not every Latinx is Catholic)

I think these are the reoccurring issues I always see but if anyone has more feel free to add. And if you have specific questions I’m happy to answer. Suerte on your novel xx
