Dean walks by the bookstore every single day on his way to work and looks for the stranger who works there. The town is small, and Dean thought he knew everyone who lived here, until this place opened up. For five months now, Dean has walked by this bookstore. And for five months, he has wondered about the dark haired man inside. The one he’s never seen around town before.

Sometimes the man is on the computer at the large counter, sometimes helping a customer, sometimes straightening and restocking the shelves. No matter what he’s doing, he’s always gorgeous. His hair is long enough to be messy when he runs his hands through it, and Dean loves the days when it’s sticking everywhere, like maybe the store was too busy or too boring and the man has a nervous habit of pulling at it. He has broad shoulders, and is taller than most people around him, though still a couple of inches shorter than Dean. His jeans always cling tight to his thighs and his ass, like they’re a little too big for his small waist. He’s perfect.

Hey there! 😃 I want to buy my first tarot deck, but first I want to know some things, like, how do you bond with it? How do you get to know it? I'm pretty new hehe😅 oh and is there something else I should know first? Thank you in advance!😄

There are many ways to bond with a tarot deck tbh; I talk more in-depth about it [here]. I don’t just want to copy-paste the same information if it’s already on my blog, ya know?

Here is another post on [Ways to Bond With Your Tarot Deck].

Some other useful tarot posts:

You can find many more useful posts in my [#tarot tag].

Introductory tarot spreads:

I think the big things to keep in mind are…

Go with a deck you feel drawn to / like the art style of. This will help with bonding with it, at least it did in my circumstance. The first big thing I heard about tarot was having to like the cards, at least a bit, because it helps form a connection on its own that can then be built off of.

What sort of art style that is, is up to you. Some people say the cards that feature the traditional tarot symbolism are the easiest and best for beginners, because they try to tell the meaning of the cards in the art itself, so you begin to rely less heavily on the book. Which is great, if you’re into that. If you think you will understand the card readings without the symbols, go ahead and get whatever appeals most to you.

Speaking of the book, it’s okay if you have to flick through it to find card meanings. I’ve been reading for over two years, and my crap memory prevents me from memorizing all 78 card meanings. And it does come with time. I definitely know a good portion of the cards by general memory by now, but not all of them. You are not a bad reader if you still use the book.

Your deck does not need to be gifted to you, or secondhand, for it to be powerful. This was another one that I heard a lot of starting my own tarot journey, and I have bought every single one of my decks. They are all powerful in their own ways, and ridiculously (painfully) accurate. Not everyone has people in their lives who read tarot who can gift them a deck, and some people really like to hold on to their decks anyway. It isn’t necessary.

It will take time and practice. I was doubtful of all my readings at first too, but seriously, the more you use them, the more familiar you get with the cards, the easier it will be to tell what they might mean in a situation. It’s important to pay attention to your intuition, your initial gut feelings when you see the cards - sometimes that proves to be the more accurate answer than what the book may say.

It’s also good to sometime deviate from the book. If you find this card keeps showing up in these sorts of readings in similar positions, take note of that. Not every deck behaves the same, so while one deck may show a pattern like that, others may not. They are each unique and have their own reading style as well as art style. Your deck will show you its reading style in time. (Mine are all really straightforward, blunt, almost in a harsh way, but they know I need to be told it like that or it won’t sink in / impact me.)

Okay, that’s what I’ve got for now, I hope it helps. Best of luck to you on your tarot journey!

Pregnancy Headcanons: Mystic Messenger

I’m a sucker for prengancy-related headcanons/one-shots/roleplays. I’m weird I know. Anyway here are some pregnancy headcanons for the RFA (slightly nsfw)(obvious spoilers)(Cussing)

Order: Yoosung, Zen, Jumin, Jaehee, Seven, Saeran, V

Yoosung

¤ Oh our little innocent cinnamonbun Yoosung isn’t so innocent

¤ Infact, 4/5 times he initiates the frickity-frackity

¤ Just so happens, though, that condom was expired

¤ And it was evident when it had broken

¤ And he had begun to panic

× “it’s leaking- Wait it’s leaking, MC it’s leaking what do we do? Ahh-”

¤ He ended up running out and buying like 5 pregnancy test

¤ But the baby factory doesn’t work like that so they all came back negative.

¤ So he thought you were fine

¤ Until two weeks later when-

× “Oh my God, MC are you okay? You sound like your dying”

¤ You made him buy more pregnancy test

× “But the 5 you took before came back negative”

¤ He ended up buying 7 more, cause

× “One of them could be faulty”

¤ You took 7 test, 5 of which back positive

¤ So Yoosung begun freaking out even more

× “MC I’m so sorry I should have checked the expiration date this is all my fault”

¤ You couldn’t help but laugh

¤ That laughter quickly turn to tears because holy fuck your having a tiny human.

¤ Cue more panic from Yoosung

× “MC?? No MC don’t cry or I’ll start crying too! MC”

¤ And here we have two crying grown children

¤ When the two of you finally calmed the hell down you begun to talk about it

× You both came to the conclusion that you both weren’t ready for a responsibility of this magnitude and that the best option for the child would be for them do go into adoption

¤ Despite all that, Yoosung still did everything to make you comfortable

    × Mc.Rognalds at 4am? He’s got you covered.

× Extra pillows, even if that leaves him with none? Alright.

× Missing out on the most important, once in a life time quest, just so he can cuddle when you ask?

€ “Sorry guys, I have to do something Irl”

¤ When you *finally* go into labour, he freaks out, and you end up having to call the ambulance because he’s not calm enough to take you himself.

¤ Labour ends, and he probably won’t be able to use that hand for a while

¤ And then the doctor asks a simple question

× “Would you both like to see the baby before signing the adoption papers?”

¤ You both kinda look at each other, silently deciding.

¤ And then he nods, and you nod, and the doctor goes off to get the baby.

¤ The baby is completely healthy. Perfect weight, and with bright violet eyes and just a little (H/c) hair.

¤ And as you get to hold the baby for a few minutes, he kinda just stares in awe.

¤ And the silence is broken

     × “MC”

     × “Yeah…”

× “They… they kinda look like us, huh?”

× “Mmhmm. They have your eyes”

     × “ And your hair… MC?”

     × “Yes, Yoosung?”

× “Do you maybe wanna keep them? I mean I know we’re not really ready but people aren’t always ready, and maybe we can do it”

¤ And that was all it took.

 ÷BONUS÷

× Yoosung has joined the chat

× Mc has joined the chat

× Mc: As many of you may have known, I was pregnant for the past 9 months

     × Zen: wait what?

× Jaehee: I don’t believe you informed us

     × 707: Lololol they didn't

     × Mc: Great news:

     × Yoosung: We’re keeping them!

× Yoosung has left the chat

× Mc has left the chat

     × Zen: They’re joking right?

Zen

¤ Oh boy

¤ It was a common wonder if you were pregnant with this one.

¤ Because it was constantly

× “Condoms can take the pleasure out of sex”

¤ That and birth control was a difficult thing to remember.

¤ So you kept a few pregnancy test

× More like a box filled with them

¤ So when you took 2 test, and they both came back positive, you weren’t shocked

¤ But you decided to tell him in a more fun way

¤ So you bought baby carrots, a baby bottle and a pacifier

¤ But when you got home, he was already there

¤ And holding a stick with pee

     × “Mc are you pregnant”

     × “Yes”

¤ You were disappointed because you had bought so much stuff to surprise him and he had found out in other means.

¤ But then he hugged you

× “Mc I promise I’m going to be the best father that I can be, and I’ll always support the baby”

¤ And aww Zenny

¤ And then he proposed

× “I know I don’t have a ring right now but marry me please”

     × “Of course”

¤ And waterworks come in, and well yeah its a happy day.

¤ He still does his plays, but will call you at every minute of the hour to make sure your okay

¤ If you want something, he will liTTERLY PAUSE REHERSAL SO HE CAN GO GET IT AND BRING IT TO YOU

× “Zen where are you going?”

× “Don’t worry, I’ll be back in a few minutes”

¤ Gets introuble alot, until he finally explains to the director whats going on

¤ When you go into labour, he’s in the middle of the real-deal play

¤ So his phone isn’t nearby

¤ When he finally hears the message he freaks out and runs to the hospital

¤ like litterly runs

¤ He gets there just on time, and won’t stop apologizing

× “MC I’m so sorry, you know the premire was today and I didn’t have my phone on me”

× “Stop apologizing and get over here”

¤ Push

¤ It’s a healthy baby.

¤ You got to hold the baby for about a minute before he starts complaining

× “Come on MC I want to hold them too”

× You’d glare at him “I just pushed them out of my va-jay-jay after holding them in my stomach for 9 months, I believe I can hold them longer than a minute”

¤ A happy little family

Jumin

¤ It wasn’t like you two were trying

¤ But you weren’t not trying either

¤ It was more of a if it happens it happens thing.

¤ So when it happened you were happy.

¤ You, ofcourse, went to the doctor first and got yourself checked

¤ And yep, 4 weeks pregnant.

¤ You managed to convice the doctor to give you a sonogram right there and then and you got a copy of it

¤ Now to tell Jumin

¤ You made his favourite dinner, made the table look nice.

¤ Four plates, one for you, another for Jumin, one for Elizabeth and finally one for the unborn child

¤ On the plate of the missing guest, the envelope that had the sonogram layed there.

¤ When he gets home and dinner begins he’s absolutely confused

× “MC are we expecting guest?”

¤ Finally he notices the envelope, and becomes more curious

¤ He looks over at you, and you give him a nod that screams “Just open it already”

¤ So he does

¤ And he kinda stares at it for a while

¤ And you can’t read any emotion on his face

¤ And there’s just silence

¤ Until

    × “Is this a sonogram?”

    × “Yes”

    × “Is this your sonogram”

    × “Yes”

× “Did you hear that Elizabeth 3rd? You will be a sister"

¤ He eventually gets up and gives you a nice little kiss, that though it’s not too long means alot

¤ It’s joyous moment

¤ Low key scared that he will end up like his father

¤ When you find out you comfort him

× ” Your father is your father, and you’re you"

¤ Now this boy will not let you do anything

¤ Right after the dinner, he hired a maid specifically for your needs only, durring the day time

¤ And at night when you get your cravings, he will get anything needed

¤ Well he won’t, but Jaehee will.

× “Assistant Kang, I need you to buy some cheese with barbecue sauce and peanut butter”

× “Mr.Han its 3:45 in the morning, where will I find that-”

     × He’s already hung up.

¤ And oooh boy, that baby hasn’t been born yet and already its been spoiled rotten.

¤ A nursery fit for royalty.

¤ Best toys

¤ And not to mention appointments 10 times a week

¤ Only the finest of doctors for his baby

¤ When you’re close to the due date he finds a way to work from home

¤ He convinces you to get a C-Section so that it doesn’t pain you as much

¤ Jumin Han? More like Daddy Han

¤ He won’t stop posting pictures of the baby and Elizabeth 3rd on the messenger

Jaehee

¤ It happened while you two were on a break.

¤ An open break

¤ And you were… well… drunk

¤ Pretty much a one night stand with no protection

¤ Eventually you an Jaehee did get back together like a week later

¤ And a week after that you weren’t feeling so hot

     × nausea, hungry, moody

¤ Felt like your period but the blood was missing

¤ Eventually Jaehee took you to your doctor.

¤ Your doctor ran the same test 5 times

¤ Finally they simply asked you if “You had been sexually active with a male”

¤ To which you reply no

¤ And a few seconds later Maybe/Yes

¤ Jaehee just like ??? What

¤ And then the news

     × “MC you’re pregnant”

¤ They leave you two alone to talk because he knows something happened

¤ There was silence for a few minutes

¤ And then you could hear Jaehee choke back a sob

× “MC I thought you would have been different… I thought this would have been different”

¤ You begin to explain to her how it all happened and when

¤ It makes it better but not completely okay

¤ It takes a few months for her to completely over it

¤ Once it gets to that point, shes ecstatic over the baby

¤ She always seems to have just what you need

× “Jaehee do you mind getting me a-”

× She passes you a pickle covered in Nutela

    × “Thank you”

¤ When you go into labour she gets a call at work.

¤ Actually she gets 6 missed calls from an unknown number before deciding to pick up.

× “Excuse me, am I speaking with Ms. Jaehee Kang?

    × “This is she”

× “I am calling about Mc, she seems to have gone into labour early and you are the number marked into her emergency contacts- hello?”

¤ She was at the hospital faster than the speed limit allowed.

¤ After, of course, informing her boss

¤ She knew just how make you comfortable and not get her hand squeezed near broken by the end

¤ Your really exausted so she’s actually the first to hold the baby.

¤ They’re small, and a tad underweight but otherwise healthy.

Seven-o-Seven

¤ The thing is, you two have gotten frisky even when Saeran was home

¤ And anytime, everywhere

× “Why can’t those two shut up for just one night”

¤ So the reality was, you getting pregnant was expected

¤ Except it never happened

¤ Because you, my dear, where as infertile as a mule

¤ Pregnancy was a difficult thing to achieve

¤ So babies didn’t seem like a possibility

¤ Until your boy Saeyoung came home wiTH TWO BABIES IN A BASKET

× “Saeyoung is that what I think it is?”

× “ If your thinking about babies, then yes”

     × “Idiot brother”

¤ So your a mom now

¤ He had gone ahead and bought the babies toys, and bottles, and food, and milk and everything necessary for a baby

¤ He always was the one to get up when one of them began to cry at night

¤ Even if you insisted that you had it

     × “Saeyoung I’ve got it”

× “Go back to sleep, I’m already ready”

     × “But Saeyoung-”

× “No cuts, no buts, no coconuts”

¤ He would always post pictures of the three/four/five of you together in the chat

× Saeyoung: And in this picture we see my 4 favourite people

× Zen: I still can’t believe you adopted 2 babies out of the blue like that

¤ Apparently your infertility wasn’t so infertile afterall

¤ Oops your pregnant

¤ When he finds out he’s excited

¤ Cause like

¤ Three babies

¤ He lets you do even less than before

¤ Once your big enough he won’t even let you carry around the babies

¤ You would use the cravings as a way to get him out of the house and carry the babies.

¤ He builds like 15 robots to play with the babies

¤ He buys like another ton of toys

¤ Not to mention he gets to prepare the nursery with time this time

× Cat themed by the way

¤ When the third baby comes, you leave the other two with a panic-y Saeran

¤ Speed limits are no limits

¤ After the baby is born, Saeyoung gets Saeran and the two babies

¤ Takes a family photo and posts it on the chat along with a “lololol”

  ÷ BONUS ÷

× 707 has joined the chat

× 707: Lololol look at my 5 favourite people

× Attached is a photo of Saeran MC and three babies

× Yoosung: Did you adopt again?!

× Yoosung’s Questionmark emoji is attached

          × 707: Lolol nope

× 707: This one was all me and MC

Saeran

¤ You could hardly call that sex

× It was more like “lets see how fast we can fuck before Saeyoung gets back”

¤ You found out like a month later at a physical.

     × “Congratulations MC you’re pregnant”

¤ As soon as your out, cue panic.

¤ A baby??? A baby was not part of the plan

¤ You took the bus home because you needed to think this over, without the Choi twins knowing just yet

¤ An hour later your home

¤ Surprise: Saeran isn’t, and Saeyoung is kinda just looking at you weirdly.

¤ Saeyoung finally tells you what happened

¤ Those fuckers hacked into your medical files as soon as your appointment was over to make sure everything was “Just Fine”

¤ It wasn't

¤ Pregnancy hormones started kicking in, and there were tears

¤ Saeran just happened to walk in at that moment after calming his own nerves

¤ There was more panic because he didn’t know how to comfort you.

¤ Eventually he pulls you aside into your room, hands you a tissue and waits for you to calm down.

¤ When that happens (like an hour later) he kinda just sighs and tries to work things out

× “I know we didn’t plan this, but I know you’ll make a great mother, I’ll try to be a good dad”

¤ Comforting but he’s High-Key scared.

¤ When it’s all sort out he’s actually really cute

× Low key loves to talk to your belly

× Complains but always does what you ask him to do

€ He would say “Mc It’s 3:47 in the morning where am I going to find that?” While he’s getting dressed.

× Protective over you and the bump.

¤ When Due date comes he can’t stay in the room with you. Your screams almost give him a panic attack, so Saeyoung goes in his place while he stays a good 2 hallways away.

¤ When the baby is there, and he kinda just stares at it.

     ×"Its so tiny and chubby”

¤ But he immediately falls in love with them.

¤ He’s scared of carrying them

× “What if I drop them?”

     × “You won’t”

¤ Eventually he does, while sitting next to you in the bed.

¤ Saeyoung ends up snapping a selfie and BOOM family photo

V

¤ Blind sex was great

¤ For all you kinky bastards its like a perpetual blindfold

¤ But blindness has its disadvantages

¤ For example: if your blind, you don’t notice when the condom’s broken

¤ Just so happens that’s what happened to our dear V

¤ And that became evident a week before his surgery

¤ On the pregnancy test

¤ So instead of telling him, you decided to wear a shirt that would read out “Your going to be a father”

¤ Because whats better than the first thing you see after being blind for who knows how long being that your going to be a father

¤ But that quickly backfires once he’s told that he can’t take off the bandages for three days

¤ And he takes them off at two

¤ And you don’t have the god damn shirt on

¤ And so the water works begin

¤ And so does the confusion and panic

× “MC why are you crying? Aren’t you happy?”

× All that be heard is incoherent crying

¤ And once your calm…enough… you explain

× “It was supposed to be a surprise, the first thing you saw was supposed to be the shirt”

     × “What shirt?”

× “The one telling you you were gonna be a dad”

¤ And boom the surprise was out.

¤ And holy fuck he was crying

¤ And not out of sadness but out of happiness

¤ Cause not only did he get to see, he also got the best news of his life

¤ Next thing you know your pulled into a hug

× “MC thank you, I love you! Thank you so much”

¤ He was supportive as hell

¤ Boy got you as many things as he could

¤ But due to his recent achievement of sight, he couldn’t get you it all

¤ There were certain things, like driving or walking in the night, that just weren’t safe enough for your liking

¤ So you’d ignore your craving until morning

¤ But he always made up for the time needed to get them by going to EVERY SINGLE APPOINTMENT YOU HAD

¤ Still it was helpful to you to have him there

¤ He takes so many pictures of you like there’s no tomorrow.

¤ You and the belly

¤ Everywhere

¤ You both agree a planed C-Section is the best choice, less pain, and less shock and panic than if your water broke

¤ When the day came, you both drove there

¤ He couldn’t stop talking about the unborn yet baby

¤ Once you where brought into the room

× “Sir, I’m sorry you can’t take that camera into the opertating room”

¤ Someone isn’t getting invited to the next RFA party

¤ The baby was slightly underweight but beautiful none the less.

I heard some people in the fandom say that they fear Lotor as a character, thinking his is predestined to be a sexist perverted dickhead in VLD. The thing is the creepy Lotor some hate and fear (which is something I agree with *shutters*) came from the subs, or as it was called Beast King Go Lion, which were a lot darker and edgier than any of the other versions of the show, being more akin to Berserk or a darker version of Game of Thrones. It had things like forced cannibalism, the Galra drinking the blood of the dead, people being sliced in half,  decapitating heads, showing trophy heads, blood raining from the sky and making people explode, on screen deaths of women and children, and a whole lot of other things even darker then that! If it got a western rating, it would be rated R, hands down. The only reason why it got dubbed in the west in the 80s because of miscommunication  and the people who bought it wanted to buy another show to dub instead. (Although, it makes me wonder why the people who brought Voltron over to the west to dub it back in the 80s, thought, “This would be a great show for kids!” when they saw all the above things mentioned. But it could’ve been 4Kids logic, I suppose.)

The darker elements I just mentioned did not obviously carry over into VLD. In fact, all of the other adaptions of Go Lion, including Defender of the Universe or the dubbed version of Go Lion, had the more messed up elements from Go Lion scrapped automatically.  Do not get me wrong; the creators of VLD aren’t ignoring Go Lion (because they gave Shiro his Go Lion name and use some of the subbed terms like Galra and Altea, after all), but they did leave out the, for a lack of a better word, fucked up stuff like I mentioned before on the way side while doing this new version.  Sure, VLD can get dark like having on screen deaths of the secondary characters, all of the Alteans except for Coran, Haggar and Allura being killed, planets being destroyed like the Death Star did in Star Wars, hinting at the mermaid people being eaten by a giant sea monster and the fights getting more intense, but not anywhere near as dark as Go Lion ever was! A lot of the violence and themes in VLD are still appropriate for kids and adults to watch together.

Lotor and his subbed counterpart are two totally different characters.

Subbed!Lotor, or Sincline as he was named in that version, was a lot more twisted. He had the obsession with Allura and wanted her to be his because she looked like his dead mother, killing people to get his prize. He wanted to kill Akira, or Keith as he is called in VLD, take Allura to be his. He had no compassion and was outright sadistic, laughing after he murdered people. He was super unhinged. He  once killed one of his slaves because they spilled wine on him. He has really bad temper tantrums. He even killed his own grandmother and father!

Dub!Lotor, while by no means a saint and some of his actions were still wrong, I would never justify some of his actions, is not anywhere near as dark or perverted as Sincline by a huge long shot. He had a lot more shades of grey to him. He was belittled by his father constantly for his half!Altean side and wanted to prove himself more to be worthy in his eyes. He  helped out the team on occasion. His obsession with Allura came off as more as an intense crush, even respecting her as a person more and having a soft spot for her.   He had a rivalry with Keith. He did not derive pleasure from killing others and had compassion for some other people.  He rebelled against his father numerous times, not agreeing with everything he did. He was a huge dork, who fell out of a tree while on a mission among other embarrassing things. Hell, dub!Lotor never even had a harem!

I find it more likely they will adapt the dub version of Lotor then the more one dimensional and creepy subbed counterpart…who also gives me nightmares, because it is more appropriate for the target audience and the creators grew up on Defender of the Universe! Lotor instead of his Go Lion counterpart.

Not to mention, Zarkon was just as bad as Sincline when he comes to women in Go Lion since he had a harem of his own and killed Sincline’s mother, which obviously never carried over to VLD at all. So I highly, highly doubt Lotor will be the same way in VLD if Zarkon never had a harem in this version or any other version outside of the twisted Go Lion one. The worst I can Lotor being like in VLD is him being a flirt or having a squad of fangirls and fanboys who follow him around for being a good looking crowned prince – that’s it.

Also in the previous versions: Allura was white, Pidge was a cis guy, Pidge sounded like Gollum from Lord of the Rings, Coran was dead serious 24/7, Keith had Shiro’s personality, Lance was the hot head, Lance had a mullet, Keith was part Altean, the Blade of Marmora was never a thing, the team was all together off the bat and a ton more.  The staff said numerous times that VLD is taking its own direction, not  copying the storylines of the other versions totally. They did it before already by making Galra Keith canon among many other things. Hell, the only the general storyline of Defender of the Universe/ Go Lion  is the same in VLD.  The only moments I can think of that match Go Lion dead on are when Shiro fights Haggar in the end of season one and when Keith flies the Black Lion – that is literally it. So the VLD staff don’t have to make Lotor a perverted dickhead like his Go Lion counterpart and can make their own version of the character, making VLD!Lotor into an anti hero or a complex villain. I can even Lotor possibly getting a redemption arc since his Defender of the Universe personality and backstory does present that chance, especially if he was that person in the Weblum like I honestly think he is, but even that is just a theory.

The show staff on VLD are super talented people, the show being made by a lot of the same show staff who worked on Avatar and Korra,  so I have little doubt they will make Lotor far more multidimensional than his previous counterparts and make him more likable no mater what personality they decide to give him.  I highly, highly doubt they would be able to get away with Lotor being a super sexist perverted stalker along with all of the stuff his Go Lion counterpart did on a Y7 show. The worst case scenario I can see happening is him being like Gideon from Gravity Falls, even than that is less likely since it would be copying a character from another show made by a rival studio.

If I had to guess what Lotor would be like in VLD right now, it would be a mixture of Space!Zuko, mirror!Lance and Marik from YGO with a touch of Duke Devlin from YGO. Someone who has a has it out for the team for putting his father into a coma and wants to please his father, despite his father belittling him a lot. Over time, he might learn to not walk in his father’s footsteps and create his own path. Like Lance, he would have self doubt issues, love pampering himself and be a flirt.   With that said, that is just a guess.

Either way, I’m excited about Lotor and curious to see how the show staff will update him for a modern audience in VLD. The show staff, from what I heard, are excited to add him to the show, which is always the sign of something great.

•The lady is like “can I give an award to your parents for raising you to be this way”
•And Joshua is like !!! “My parents are great I’ll tell you why!”
•He tells the lady everything about his family and is so happy and  enthusiastic and the woman is almost in tears she’s so touched
•She’s all “if you need anYTHinG don’t hesitate to find me”
•She low key leaves him a bunch of snacks without charging him
•And he’s like “oh she must’ve left these, how nice” and shares with the other students around him and adfghjk  can you tell I love Joshua Hong because I do like who doesn’t
•I stg it’s impossible not to love him
•BUT ANYWAY
•FLASH TF FORWARD
•You know he’s one of the Prefects for Hufflepuff because like who else is more qualified? Soonyoung? No ma'am. Not unless we want a dance party every time people are trying to study in the commons room.
•Is really helpful and caring over the younger students and if he sees they’re getting frustrated/sad/homesick, he’ll just go full out dorky and get them to laugh
•Student: *is sad*
•Joshua: “Wanna see how high I can sing?” *SCREAMS*
•Student: *not breathing enough because of how hard they’re laughing*
•If anyone questions his prefect method of handling things (which is usually in a casual and memey way) he’s just responds like “well it’s a good thing they didn’t make you prefect, you obviously have no idea what you’re doing”
•*air horn noise x1000* KILL EM JOSH
•if he’s really worn out or just generally feeling down after a long day, he’ll go to his bed and slide his guitar out from the space under his bed frame and play really relaxing and beautiful melodies and sing along
•And EVERYONE KNOWS JOSHUA DOES THIS BC IF YOU HEARD THIS ANGEL DO MUSIC THINGS WOULD YOU KEEP QUIET? nope
•So if someone hears Joshua playing in his dorm room from the commons room it’ll be a chorus of shuffling and whispers of “he’s playing again! Everyone hush and listen!” Until everyone literally stops what they’re doing to listen to his beautiful voice and rhythmic guitar playing.
•Joshua wonders why he finds most of the Hufflepuff kids asleep in the commons room the next morning like “how did you all manage to fall asleep here?? Why wouldn’t you go to bed?”
•And Seungkwan and Hoshi are all “wELL yOU know these couches are so comfy ahaha”
•And Joshua is just like “ …k good to know”
•Everyone knows that if Joshua is ever up late playing pretty music it’s because he’s feeling down so they make like an organized system so that the next day, everyone is nice to him and only good things happen.
•Someone’s clumsy owl is flying straight for Joshua? Hoshi jumps and grabs it out of the air and then runs tf away so Joshua doesn’t notice anything happened.
•Some jerk looks like they’re about to start a fight with him? Seungkwan “accidentally” drops a vial of newts urine on the jerk.
•Seungkwan: *hair flips* “hmm… sorry bout that” *walks away*
•Joshua: “??? Are you okay? Let me help you”
•Joshua would literally help the guy clean himself up OBLIVIOUS TO THE GUY’S ILL INTENTIONS TOWARDS HIM and the guy would be like “WHY DID I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS ANGEL, I MUST PROTECT HIM”
•And this is how everyone comes to love Joshua
•Because how can you not?
•ALSO
•Joshua was talking with some random Hufflepuff kiddo about Naruto and a pureblood Hufflepuff walked by and was like “wtf is a naruto”
•And joshua was like “bro its an anime how do you not know this”
•And then the pureblood kid was like “wait what is anime?”
•Joshua immediately calls for a Hufflepuff house meeting
•“Okay guys it’s come to my attention that some of us aren’t aware of a certain reALLY awESoME thing called anime so we’re gonna have a marathon of a handful of them. I chose Fairytail, One Piece, and Haikyuu for tonight, let’s do it!”
•Half the kids are like “hECK YES”, and the other half are like “??? If it makes Joshua happy then sure I’ll stay”
•Some kid: “what about Yuri On Ice??”
•Joshua: “what ABOUT Yuri On Ice?”
•Another kid: “wait doesn’t Jeonghan kind of look like Victor?”
•Joshua: “omg, you’re right. no one tell him about it but let’s Photoshop his face onto Victor and fill his dorm with copies of it”
•The kids: “Joshua aren’t you supposed to be nice”
•Joshua: “I’m nice to you now hush Natsu is about to breathe fire”
•A couple of days later Ravenclaw!Jeonghan (at this point in time his hair is dyed silver and is longer like in the Mansae era) storms up to the Hufflepuff dorms with hands full of crumpled Victor posters, demanding to see Joshua
•Joshua is just like “oh it must’ve been one of your ravenclaw kids, us Hufflepuffs know not to start trouble”
•Jeonghan: “what do you mean you don’t start trouble, you have Seungkwan and Soonyoung in your house”
•Seungkwan: “LISTEN VICTOR GO BACK TO YOUR DORM”
•Jeonghan dyed his hair black and cut it shorter the next day
•All the Hufflepuffs were snickering and Joshua was like “doN’t make fun of him”
•Joshua: “hey Jeonghan nice hair” *knowing smirk*
•Moral of the story, everyone just wants this memey boy to be happy and loved, and he definitely is. Even by Jeonghan.

SLYTHERIN!JIHOON

•don’t make fun of his height unless you want to be hexed.
•Literally the other Slytherins call him “Prince of Hexing”
•He really likes hexes the best because they’re worse than jinxes but not at bad as curses
•They’re just the right amount of “don’t fuck with me, I dare you”
•Is also a prefect like Joshua,  but more because he’s really smart and good at handling situations that require leadership (like who could be the leader of a subunit with memes like Seungkwan and DK and not be a good leader smh)
•The other houses are like “woah this guy is hardcore”
•But his Slytherin kids know he’s a softie :)))
•Jihoon: “hey quit running in the hallway, who do you think you are”
•Actual translation of his emotions: “don’t run in the hall because someone’s gonna get hurt and I’ll be upset if you guys are in pain”
•He’s soft. But disguises it well.
•NO ONE TELLS HIM THAT HE’S SOFT UNLESS THEY WANNA BE HEXED THO LMAO
•Unless you’re like already good friends with him and just picking fun at each other and are like “aww you’re a cutie, ya know”
•Jihoon’s cheeks will flush brighter than a tomato
•Also the sleeves of his robes are a lil too long for his arms so he has constant sweater paws and it’s the cutest thing
•I’m not saying that he has a prank war with Gryffindor!Seungcheol but that’s exactly what I’m saying
•All the stereotypical negativity between Slytherins and Gryffindors has been channeled into pranking each other.
•For the most part it’s Slytherins Jihoon, Jun, Minghao, and Chan vs. Gryffindors Seungcheol, Vernon, and Mingyu.
•This war was initiated in the dining hall on one fine day *ba dum tss*
•Seungcheol may or may not have slipped a love potion into Jihoon’s drink (literally just for shits and giggles like he had no real reason to, he just wanted to see what would happen)
•the next person to go talk to Jihoon was Hufflepuff!Soonyoung
•Let’s just say that after a very accidentally romantic conversation between the two, that Soonyoung still has a crush on him lol (who wouldn’t)
•Soonyoung: “SEUNGCHEOL THANK YOU”
•Seungcheol: “??? You’re welcome?”
•Meanwhile Jun, Minghao, and Chan who were at the Slytherin table at the time never let Jihoon live it down
•So Jihoon is like “alright revenge time”
•So he plans to hex Seungcheol because like. that’s just what he does, he’s Prince of Hexes.
•He goes to the stadium one day because he left his bag behind when he was leaving quidditch practice (his position on the team is beater) and was like “oh God my homework is in there, what if it rains???”
•What a cute studious boy
•But yeah he’s getting his bag from the stands and thought that no one else was in the stadium but there he is. Choi Seungcheol. Out on his broom practicing (He’s the captain of the Griffindor quidditch team).
•Jihoon is like “welp it’s now or never”
•But he finds himself hesitating.
•he realizes that if he hexes Seungcheol, the role model for the Gryffindor kids, how is that going to reflect on their opinion of Slytherin kids?
•And Jihoon does NOT want anyone fucking around with his kids.
•So instead of putting a painful hex on Seungcheol, he turns Seungcheol’s originally black hair, very very pink.
•And he just leaves the stadium.
•Seungcheol meanwhile has no idea that this has happened, because he’s intensely practicing and there’s no mirrors around because it’s a stadium
•He only finds out when he walks into the Gryffindor commons room, vry tired from practice, and goes up to his dorm which he shares with Mingyu.
•Mingyu sees him and loSES IT
•He can’t even say why he’s laughing because he’s laughing so hard
•Seungcheol is literally about to throw hands when Mingyu just shoves a hand-held mirror in his face
•Seungcheol stops moving and just thinks really hard.
•And he knows that it was Jihoon. he knows in his sOUL that it was Jihoon.
•Mingyu is like “its okay man do you want me to fix it?”
•But Seungcheol is like “no. let’s have the rest of the school see what he did”
•Mingyu: “pffft okay, princess bubblegum”
•Seungcheol: “right back at you, Cheeto”
•Mingyu: :/
•ANYWAY BACK TO JIHOON LMAO
•I got side tracked whoops
•The next day in the dining hall (because yes this is a high school, it’s just for magic and stuff, so like all high school dramas/movies, shit is gonna go down in the caf)
•Seungcheol walks right up the Jihoon who’s sitting at the Slytherin table and is like “like my hair? ;)))”
•Jihoon is like “yeah, it really suits you”
•And Seungcheol
•My boy, Seungcheol
•We know how he gets a lil reckless when he’s competitive
•So Seungcheol says “I’m surprised you could even see the color from all the way down there”
•Before Jihoon can stand up or react or do anything, Seungcheol’s pink hair is covered in an apple pie
•An apple pie that Slytherin!Minghao just happened to be taking to Jun who was sat further down the table
•Jun: *yelling at Minghao in Chinese* “omg my freaking pie!!”
•Minghao: *yelling back in Chinese* “it was fOR A GOOD CAUSE”
•Seungcheol is just standing there. And on the inside he’s thinking “fair move, Slytherin”
•And he just turns and gives Mingyu and Vernon a certain look full of determination and a lil bit of craziness tbh
•they know what Seungcheol wants them to do lmao
•Cue Mingyu’s look of horror and Vernon’s biggest smile
•Vernon stands on the Gryffindor table and yells loud enough for everyone to hear:
•"FOOD FIGHT!!”
•And metaphorically speaking, shit hits the fan. Literally speaking, Minghao is immediately pied in the face by Jun.
•Minghao: *still yelling in Chinese* “WE’RE ON THE SAME SIDE”
•No but forreal everyone in Gryffindor and Slytherin are throwing food across the cafeteria at each other.
•And you know how in the dining hall there’s just four really long tables, one for each house? Well the Slytherin and Gryffindor tables are the outside tables.
•Which means they are throwing food OVER the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff tables. and a lot of food begins to hit these two houses too
•Jeonghan and Joshua just make eye contact and nod and then everyone is in this fight
•It lasts for about fifteen minutes until the professors can get it under control
•When the professors ask who started it, everyone knows about Seungcheol and Jihoon’s feud, so the finger is pointed at them.
•While sitting in Dumbledore’s study, its dead silent but Jihoon and Seungcheol are shooting glances at each other every couple of seconds
•Until they finally make eye contact and bust out laughing
•“did you see Seungkwan get knocked out of his chair because Vernon threw a whole chicken at him?”
•“Of course but did you see the look on Jeonghan’s face when Wonwoo smeared peanut butter into his hair?”
•Dumbledore walks in and is like “I see you don’t regret your actions, but you’ve made a special bond with one another, so I’ll let you off the hook this time around”
•Seungcheol: “wow, really?”
•Dumbledore: “lol no, you two get to clean up the whole dining hall, without using magic. But that’ll give you two more time to get to know one another and realize you’re more similar than you think”
•So Jihoon and Seungcheol spend the whole night cleaning, but they also talk the whole time, too.
•By the end of the night it’s like they’ve know each other their entire lives.
•The next day, Jihoon sees Seungcheol in the dining hall and smiles at him and everyone is like “…what. Jihoon just smiled at someone. and it was seuNGCHeoL. Are they friends now?”
•But everyone just goes along with it and no one holds any grudges.
•Except for Minghao @Jun lmao

There was a big anticipation for HP& The Cursed Child, everyone was talking about it, people were waiting for stores to open the next day to get their copy. However I was not one of those people I actually just finished reading it (like a week ago); I couldn’t afford it as a college student who works I also couldn’t find the time to read it for about a week when I got it; because ya know, work. So needless to say I’m late to the Cursed Child reading experience, I read about the characters in articles and from things JK Rowling and the actors have said and I went in already shiping Scorbus.

I think a lot of people like the idea of Scorbus even if they don’t ship it because we finally get the Malfoy x Potter friendship that should have happened in the original series, if Harry would have just shook Malfoy’s hand they would have (most likely) been friends- but that’s another topic for another day. As I said I went in shiping Scorbus but as I read scene after scene and the farther along I got I realized it did come off as the start to a relationship and I thought it was great. What wasn’t great was the “crush” on Rose, I mean can you even call it that? It was so forced that it became unrealistic and came across as obsessive- and that doesn’t fit what we know of Scorpius’s personality. Same goes for Albus, he’s 14 and in love with a 21 year old villain? Once again, didn’t buy it. Just let the characters be what they want to be.

I normally don’t get all “hot and bothered” over ships because well there ships, But with Scorbus its all right there, they practically hand it to you then to turn around last minute and go yeah I asked out Rose, no big deal its not like I’m in love with Al or anything. Also on a side note I didn’t like the whole time thing premise, it didn’t really add to anything and took 99% of the book.

I read somewhere authors were “responding” to Scorbus shipers saying that its just a real friendship, okay but like what kind of friendships are you having? Or am I missing out on something? ( not sarcasm) It might be different on stage its just I really want to like the CC because I relate to Al so much and their friendship is a awesome story to read but there’s a lot of inconsistencies in the book. Just my two cents, sorry about the rant.

Hi! So it's not necessarily a question about this zine, but I figured since you both have experience you seemed to be good people to ask... what advice/info would you give to someone interested in organizing a zine? For instance, how do you fund them, since printing can get rather pricy? How do you decide the number of writers/artists? Sorry if you'd rather not get into it, and thanks for your time anyways!

Hey Anon!

We welcome all zine-related questions and queries! :)

The answer is quite long and detailed. Okay. SUPER LONG AND DETAILED. I AM SORRY but I hope it helps you out!

I wish you all the best for the zine you wish to organize and hope it does super well and you have fun with it. :)

If you have more queries/questions you can contact me personally  and we can talk one-on-one too! Happy to help! ^^

Thank you!

- mod aish

1. Have fun with it. No matter how intimidating it looks/is, how stressful and nerve-wrecking it can get, the ups and downs, whatever, try to enjoy it to the fullest. ;)

2. Choose the topic of the zine. Fandoms, original, any-content, theme-related, rating, etc. RESEARCH. RESEARCH. RESEARCH.

3. Know about the target audience as it will help you estimate the avg. response and you can decide if you wish to go forward with it right away or hold it for a while longer.

4. If its your first project, I’d 100% recommend starting off slow and little. Invite your friends or artists you like to take part in the zine, keep the participant number in range to 10-15. This is because, irrespective of your sales, chances are high that you can compensate the participants by sending them their own copies. THAT’S IMPORTANT.

5. In general, an ideal size of the zine is A5 with 24-30 pages. It can be more or less, it entirely depends on the organizers.

6. If you decide to do a non-profit charity zine, its best you refer to organizers who’ve done it similarly to help you advise how and where to send the money, which charities are legit/scam, etc.

7. If its a for-profit zine, you can either split the money per page (artists get money/page they’ve illustrated) or divided it equally between the no. of artists (irrespective of how many pages an artist creates.)

8. Its up to you if you wish to take a little % for yourself as you’re organizing the zine, will get it printed and shipped. It depends on an individual but there are zines where the organizing team also takes a %.

9. PLEASE PRIORITIZE COMPENSATING YOUR ARTISTS-WRITERS WITH THEIR OWN COMPLEMENTARY COPIES OF THE ZINE. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING INCLUDED. (physical or digital, depending on the zine type!)

10. Be as organized as possible! Make plenty notes, communicate a lot so that everyone is in the loop, be as open as you can about it. This will also help your fellow artists-writers know a little about the process it takes with organizing a zine.

11. Respect their wishes if they wish to remain out of the loop. Be kind. AND PATIENT. Don’t rush things.

12. Always keep an extension ready. Like, just take an est. of 7-10 days with deadlines and the whole schedule.

13. Things can and will go wrong. Try to compromise, adjust and overcome it.

14. If you are going to get the zines printed, its best you first try and find a local printer in your area. Ask, Printer-san if they get books/magazines printed or not. If yes, browse through the multiple page types/qualities and ask about the price too. Depending upon this, choose the paper quality suitable for your zine. If its 30-40 pages, you can have a more thicker paper, but if it exceeds 40+ its best you choose a lesser thick paper. Gloss/semi-gloss is idea. And looks pretty.

15. Usually, printers will print if you give them an ideal quantity/batch, be it 25, 50, 75 or 100 copies. Otherwise, its also possible they can get a single copy printed too. Try to bargain :’) and get it as low as logically possible but listen….this is how they earn too, so ask for the min. production costs per batch size (25/50/…)

16. If not a local printer, online is the way! You can easily go through various websites which explain paper quality/quantity/size/price, etc.

17. Once you can get an est. price of a SINGLE ZINE, try and find shipping est. for locals and international customers. This will help you determine an est. for the production and shipping costs of a SINGLE ZINE. And then you can multiply it with as many zines as you wish to/hope to sell.

18. Once you have an est. production and shipping value of a single zine, you can determine the RETAIL price of the zine. (How much to sell it for?) Be up-to-date with the current costings of other zines too and price it accordingly. It isn’t fair to a customer if you oversell it, unless that is an only option and it isn’t fair to the creators if you under-price it, especially if its a for-profits zine. THIS ENTIRELY DEPENDS ON THE PRODUCTION AND SHIPPING COSTS OF THE ZINE.

19. Ask yourself if you, YOURSELF, will be able to buy YOUR ZINE at $X or $Y and go with it. (Don’t overprice-underprice it!)

20. Keep a detailed list of all the budget being spent, printing the zines, shipping them, shipping materials (envelopes, tape), etc.

21. For an art-only zine, its important you pay attention to how many artists will contribute a single page submission or multiple page submission, etc. This will help you know how many pages the zine will be.

22. For a zine with writers, choose a word-limit and stick to it! When you have the layout of your zine ready, make a mock page with the fic in it to know which font style you wish to use, the size of it, spacing, etc.

23. Try to reach out to people who have organized a zine before and request for their help. It’s the best as they can guide you well and this way you can make newer mistakes, instead of making the old ones. LOL. I AM SORRY BUT REALLY THAT’S TRUE.

24. OH! YOUR STORE! Where do you wish to sell the zine?! Tictail, storenvy, etsy. That’s up to you!

25. Also, keep a margin est. of the online fee deduction which stores and PayPal do. So that your own budget estimations are as accurate as possible.

26. Chances are you won’t break even (cover the production-shipping costs) and don’t lose hope. I will get back to you ASAP in case it happens with me. HOPE NOT. But I believe you will break-even if you price it well, promote it better and produce an awesome product.

27. Chances are you will do great! If so, CONGRATULATIONS!

28. Try your best to choose applicants according to their skill levels and not friendships. Really. It will be tough as heck…but right then you are the MOD, don’t half-ass it. If you can’t, make a zine with invite-only policy and ask your friends to take part in it. ;)

29. Schedule it in a way that you yourself can give it as much time as possible as YOU ARE THE ONE DOING IT FIRST. The zine comes to life thanks to the artists and writers…but you are an important PILLAR. Don’t over-exert yourself, take breaks, time it well, ask for help whenever you need.

30. Promote the zine well, be kind, be open to changes, but stick to your deadlines and schedule. Have as many discussions as possible and keep in touch with your whole team.

31. PLEASE BE POLITE. DON’T BE A RUDE-ASS NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS. Really. Be calm, even in crises. Take a break and think things over before you say/do something unkind. A zine is supposed to be a fun and exciting creation to bring together people from all over the world, different artists/writers, new artists/writers, customers, friends, etc. MAKE IT FUN. BE KIND.

I think I have covered many things. I can share more about budgeting, pre-orders, etc. but its best you contact me personally as I am too exhausted to add more to the list. I am sorry. These are the things which came to my mind like WOOOSH! If I have skipped a topic, let me know! If I remember something in the future….or learn something myself, I will update the list. :D

If someone strongly disagrees with a point, please know that these are 100% my own opinions, from my experiences and research.

Imagine Chris being a supportive fiancé. (Part B)

A/N: Part 5B is here, y’all. You can read the related mini-series and the previous parts here: (Mini-series - Masterlist; Mini-series Spin-off: ‘Unexpected Reader’, ‘Little Ways Away’, and ‘She Said Yes’ - Masterlist; ‘Miss Graduate’: Part 1/Part 2A/2B/2C/Part 3/Part 4/Part 5A)

Chris licked his lips nervously, his fingers playing with the hairs in his beard. His meeting was with Emilia London, an old friend who happened to be the head of production at Sony Pictures. He’d secretly printed a copy of your mini series in its full, original glory while you were asleep last night, after you turned down his suggestion to pitch your Chris Evans mini series. He went behind your back because he wanted it to become something- not because it was a story that surrounded the two of you, but because he believed it had great potential.

“What do you think?” He spoke the second Emilia put the stack of pages down. “Do you like it?” He asked then spoke before Emilia could. “‘Cause I’ll go on the record and say I love it, like- I’d love to direct something like that.” Emilia chuckled softly at Chris’ excitement, knowing he was slightly biased as it was his fiancée’s work. “I know I’m her fiancé,” he said because he knew too. “Which is why I’m asking you, is this worth something?”

“It’s good,” Emilia nodded and Chris grinned. “But,” she continued and his smile faltered. “It’s too perfect.” She explained when she saw Chris’ eyes narrow slightly, “there is nothing other than the pre-term labor to spark excitement, Chris. There is no drama, no problem and resolution. It’s too smooth a ride, it’s not enticing. Yes, it’s super romantic and very sweet but- you know you need more than that to make a good movie, or even a television series.”

“I know,” he nodded, his hand reaching to fiddle with his beard again. “I don’t know,” he sighed. “I just thought the world is chaotic and messy enough for this to be a good escape.” Emilia nodded in agreement with pursed lips. “Thanks for seeing me anyway, I appreciate it. Hopefully her meeting with Geoffrey Davis went well, I really think she has a future in Hollywood.”

“She does,” Emilia nodded, reaching for the stack of pages. “She’s got a lot of potential and she’ll make it very far if she gets the right person to view her work. I can tell you right now Geoffrey Davis is not the right person, he’ll no doubt cancel on her today.” Chris frowned at that, immediately reaching for his phone to text and ask if you were okay. “Y/N is a skilled writer, she’s got a gift for telling stories. A very good eye for detail,” she continued praising your work as she skimmed read the pages again. “Her use of dialogue and imagery, it’s brilliant. Her vocabulary could be expanded, but I guess if she’s thinking of script writing- it really doesn’t matter as long as she gets her point across to the director. I like that she’s got a good balance of clichés and originality, it really sets her apart from others.”

“Yeah, she’s one in seven billion,” Chris smiled when he thought of you, then glanced down at his phone. It was a good sign that you weren’t replying, right? It meant that Geoffrey was meeting with you and you were too busy to respond. “Do you have any other advice?” He reached over and patted the pages like he would a baby because it was your baby. “I’d really like for this to become something.”

“Chris,” she shook her head. “It’s got potential, but it can’t become something if it’s that happy and perfect. She needs to change the plot, or at least- add more into it.” Chris sighed and she did too, then remembered what Chris told her about how the two of you met. “You said the two of you met because of this series, right?”

“Yeah,” Chris nodded. “I found the link in my Twitter mentions a while back and fell in-love with it. I tried to find the writer, but um- everything’s fairly anonymous on Tumblr. But as fate would have it, I met her at the Sydney airport. I saw her in the check-in line and I had this inkling about her, like I had to talk to her. I thought I wouldn’t get to as I missed a few very good chances,” he chuckled when he remembered how many times he failed to approach you. “But then I caught her at Starbucks, made my move, and the rest was as they say…history. We’re engaged now and she’s absolutely perfect for me.”

“How was the getting together for you?”

“God,” he groaned then laughed. “It was such a hassle. A lot of unnecessary drama and road blocks, we practically-” He stopped when he realized what Emilia was getting at; the gleam in her eye and the smile on her face said it all. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”

“Talk to your fiancée first,” she advised after she nodded, and Chris nodded with an excited grin. “But I think you’ve got a story to tell that many, including myself, would love to buy and produce.” She slid the stack of pages back across the table to him. “This is good, but your love story- it’s going to be a lot better.”

“Yeah,” Chris nodded in agreement, “it is.”

• • • • • • • •

You stared at your phone, contemplating whether or not to reply Chris’ “is everything okay?” If you didn’t reply, he’d think you were still in the meeting and it’d give you some more time to come up with a better story of what happened. So you left it, ignored your fiancé’s text, and continued doodling on your paper coaster.

You stirred your untouched vanilla latte which had gone cold; the toasted blueberry bagel you’d bought and not even taken a bite of had gone stale as well. You weren’t really in the mood to eat or drink anything, not with everything you’d heard everyone say about you and your relationship with Chris running through your mind. You doodled a little cartoon version of you like the doodle from your mini-series, except this time you were holding a broom and not an Oscar. It was clear where your future laid, absolutely not in Hollywood. You knew you were being over dramatic. You also realized you’d broken the promise you’d made Chris, your mom, and Ava: to not let one rejection fuck you over. You tried to keep it, but it was hard; you were pretty fucked.

“Miss Y/L/N?” You heard a familiar male voice and looked up, realizing why it was so familiar; it was only a voice you’d spent the last three years listening to at lectures. Because why not? Why not have your least favorite professor tell you how much you sucked after you were rejected by a huge production company. Though you were being slightly unfair, he was only your least favorite because he was boring compared to the rest of your professors- he’d always been kind to you. You managed a smile when he asked, “is everything alright?”

“I could lie and say ‘yes’, but I think we’d both know I was lying.” You said and he nodded, chuckling. He used his hand to gesture at the chair, politely asking without words if he could join you. “Yeah,” you quickly nodded, “of course.”

“Would you like to talk about what’s bothering you?”

“I would, but not with one of my old professors,” you admitted and he nodded with an understanding smile. “Can I ask you something, and will you be honest with me?” He nodded again, then took a sip from his paper cup. “Did you mean it when you told me I had potential?”

“I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it,” he answered. “Why? Did something happen, is that why you’re doubting yourself?” You dropped your gaze, stirring your cold coffee. “You did that a lot in class too, you know. I’d tell you to change one paragraph, and you’d freak out and question your entire piece.” You chuckled softly with limited humor; all your teachers- since you were in grade school- always had that same comment. “You’re good, Y/N. I could tell you that a thousand times, but you need to believe it yourself.”

“I know,” you nodded, dropping your hand to your lap. “I just- I had a meeting with New Line Cinema and they didn’t even want to see me.” He sighed because he knew all the setbacks that came with the industry you wanted to be apart of. “They were so mean about it too, I mean- are they all going to be like that?”

“Pretty much,” he nodded. “But you knew that going in, I told you what would happen and you told me you could handle it.” You huffed, crossing your arms over your chest. “Look,” he chuckled; you reminded him a lot of his younger sister, even the twelve year age gap between you and him were about the same. “It’s going to be a rough ride, but if you’re truly passionate about it- you’re going to get there. You’ve got potential, Y/N. I believe in you, you just need to believe in yourself.”

“Thank you, Professor Killian,” you smiled.

“You can call me Daniel, all my friends do.” He held out his hand for you to shake and you shook it, smiling. “And it’s not like I’m your professor anymore,” he reminded you as you both withdrew your hands. “Which is kind of a relief, 'cause I hated being your least favorite.” He teased and you felt heat rush to your cheeks as you grimaced.

“You weren’t my least favorite,” you tried to defend yourself and he laughed, shaking his head as if to say it was alright. “I liked you as a person, you were always very nice to me. I just-” you winced as you admitted in a sheepish tone, “your class was boring compared to the others.”

“Not every teacher is meant to inspire and mesmerize, Y/N,” he chuckled. “Some are just meant to guide an already brilliant mind, a mind like yours.” He told you and you smiled. “You may have come third in the class, but you’re the only one I see doing some very incredible things. Just keep doing what you’re doing and don’t let the setbacks kill that light you carry, it’s what makes you and your writing special.”

“Do you have any other advice?”

“Dump that fiancé of yours,” he responded and you frowned; all that fondness you carried for him faded as soon as he said that. You felt your jaw tightened as he continued, “you’re never going to make if you stay with him. No one is going to take you seriously if all they see you as is Chris Evans’ fiancée. I bet you were turned away today because of him, weren’t you?”

“It doesn’t matter why I was turned away,” you bit and Daniel knew he’d struck a chord; he did it on purpose, just to see how you’d react and so far- it was exactly as he’d expected. “And I couldn’t care less if all they see me as is Chris Evans’ fiancée. I’d be happy to be just his wife and mother of his children because it is not a bad thing to be. Honestly- if that is all I can achieve in this lifetime, I’m going to die a very happy woman.”

“I know,” he nodded and your facials turned from angry to confused. “I just said all that to see if you really love him as much as you say you do.” You must have looked even more confused because you couldn’t remember talking to your professor about Chris. “I read your mini series, the one that brought the two of you together? It’s aspiring, it’s the kind of love people spend their entire lives trying to find. I’m lucky, I’ve found that with my wife. And you are too,” he nodded and you smiled. “Everything is going to work out for you, your relationship- your career, it’s going to work. It’ll take some time, but it’ll work out.”

Your phone chimed and its screen lit up, both yours and Daniel’s gaze darted to it. Daniel drank the rest of his coffee as he rose to his feet, “I should probably get going. Mandy sent me to get diapers and this was a little detour.” You looked up at him and smiled because you didn’t know he was a dad. “It was nice seeing you again, Y/N.”

“You too, Prof- Daniel,” you corrected yourself and he smiled, turning on his heel and making his way towards the exit. You waved at him as he got into his car then turned your attention back to your phone. You picked it up and opened Chris’ text, chuckling in absolute awe and amazement when you saw what he sent you.

Coming to get you now, someone wants your story.

From Now On Our Merge is Eternal

Like, Lucien was normally against summoning demons into the mortal plane, and most world-ending-shit like that. Most of the time though, Tamlin never cried.

A crying Tamlin was a terrifying sight, especially when it was surrounded by photographs of his ex-girlfriend, Feyre, pinned everywhere. As in, every single wall was covered with close ups of her face, or shady stalker photos taken through bushes. Tam had even gotten himself a T-shirt printed with her face and ‘HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GIRL’ on the front.

“Someone’s kidnapped her, Lucien,” He’d wailed into his pint of Ben and Jerry’s. “I need to find her.”

“She literally left a note saying-”

“The kidnapper obviously made her write that. She would never leave me for that… that monster.”

Whilst Tamlin sobbed into the aforementioned ice cream, Lucien sneaked in a quick text reply to the monster in question.

‘Yeah. He’s still not over her. Maybe don’t ask for her stuff back yet.’

“Who are you texting?” Tamlin sniffled, all puppy dog eyes and chocolate around his mouth.

“Uh. I wasn’t. I was- googling.. vengeance spirits?” Lucien hoped he was drunk on grief enough to buy the bullshit.

“What?” Tamlin demanded, throwing off his Feyre-Pattern duvet. Standing, he marched over to Lucien and grabbed him by the shoulders. “Lucien… Lucien, that’s genius.”

“What?” It was Lucien’s turn to sound stumped.

“You summon a demon to kill her kidnapper, and problem solved.”

“There are… multiple issues with that statement, TimTam.” The least being the fact that there was no wrong to avenge. Feyre had warned him she’d leave multiple times and had told him they were breaking up before she went off to Rhys’. Also: demons.

“Lucien,” Tamlin said more sternly. “Are you or are you not my private witch for hire?”

“I mean yeah, but-”

“But nothing. I am hiring you. For this,” he inhaled dramatically, “I’ll pay you a grand.”

Okay, yeah, now Lucien was paying attention. Potentially ending the world was definitely worth getting that swanky new laptop he’d been eyeing.

So that was the why he was doing the whole demon summoning routine, but the how was a little more… complicated. Especially since he had no intention of actually summoning one. But he had to put on a show for Tamlin; whom he’d already warned it might not work. Thus, he had a nice salt pentacle drawn out on the grass already, some - kinda skanky - road kill placed at each of the four corners, and a couple of candles lit for spooky atmosphere reasons.

“Make sure to keep back,” He yelled over to Tamlim, who was hunched over on a camping chair watching, with a nice mug of hot chocolate. “This could get messy.”

“Yeah, for the kidnapper,” Tamlin shouted back, cackling at his own joke.

“I cannot believe I wasted so much good salt on this,” Lucien hissed under his breath. Fucking muggles.

Clearing his throat, he clicked play on Itunes and put on some creepy beats, before picking up his book. It was just a copy of ‘The Great Gatsby’ he’d painted black but what Tamlin didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him. He began to read aloud. Or, more accurately, he began to read backwards. It sounded suitably ominous, and also Lucien would be lying if he claimed he didn’t enjoy pulling shit with Tamlin.

Just as he got towards the top of the page and was preparing to grovel to Tamlin about it simply not working (and demand pay for the supplies anyway) things started going… wrong. Wrong was definitely a good descriptor for the situation. For starters, the salt pentacle started glowing.

Cutting the scene of Nick getting laid by a photographer short, Lucien shut up. Tam was on his feet, gazing in wonder as the glowing ramped up to blinding white shining. The flame of the candles ignited into unexpected flamethrowers, thunder roared overhead, birds fled from the surrounding forests, lighting cracked across the sky-

And then a naked dude was lying on the grass before them.

The sky clearing and returning to cheery sunshine, the light revealed it to be no ordinary man.

This dude was hot.

“That’s it?” Tamlin said, suddenly beside Lucien and in the circle. “That’s the demon?” Lucien really hoped not, else Tamlin would probably be about to be devoured. Again: fucking muggles. “It doesn’t look very demon-y.”

There were many witty comebacks waiting to be said in response to that particular statement of idiocy, but Lucien was more concerned with something else: Had he just summoned Jay Gatsby?

Immediately, he started compiling a mental list of questions to ask him, mainly: how did you make all that money? “Is it… asleep?”

“Unconscious, I think,” Lucien replied, wincing as Tamlin nudged the man with his foot. Next time he did this, he would make sure to educate Tamlin on how not to treat potential members of the underworld.

“Well,” Tamlin said with a sigh. “You’d better pick him up then. We can put him in the boot, take him back to mine, and get him on Feyre’s trail. Hopefully he’s better at this than he looks.”

Lucien didn’t get a chance to argue about how shutting a demon in the boot was a super bad idea, because Tamlin was already wandering back to the car. Sighing, he bent down to the man-demon/possible Jay Gatsby. He lived up to the descriptions; He really was hot. Maybe he was a demon. Lucien could imagine someone with a face like that seducing fair maidens into the depths of Tartarus.

***

Long story short, it turned out the man was not a demon. Nor was he Jay Gatsby. He was just your everyday ghost/ghoul/spirit gig who’d been haunting about the forest and had unwittingly stumbled into the salt circle while it’d been being laid.

His name was Cassian, and apparently, he was now eternally bound to Lucien: A suitably homoerotic outcome considering the source material he was summoned with.

The situation had its plusses and minuses. For one, Lucien had got that grand, and his nice new laptop. On the other hand, he also had a ghost following him around everywhere. A ghost he soon discovered to be very, very annoying.

“Oh my lord, how is coffee so good now? It never tasted like this for me,” Cassian rambled as they sat together at Lucien’s usual table, in his usual coffeeshop, doing his usual morning routine.

“Welcome to the future,” Lucien muttered in response, trying to do his actual job, as opposed to his fake job: getting his best friend to pay him to fuck about with magical shit. The fake job was somehow more effort than his real one, which consisted of editing for Witch Weekly like a civilised mortal.

“And when did boys start getting so hot? Y’all dress nicely now and everything.”

“Societal pressures only continue to mount with increasing access to global communication and advertising.” Lucien had been answering questions about the future all week and was starting to get pissy, but that was what you got for accidentally summoning a ghost from the civil war era. He’d given Cassian his old laptop for a reason, but the ghost had just cried ‘witchcraft!’ and thrown it in the trash. Lucien would have felt bad for him if he hadn’t caught him in hysterical laughter afterwards. ‘Good joke, yes?’ The ghost had asked.

He did not make good jokes. He made very, very bad ones. Lucien had groaned more in the past seven days than he had in his entire life.

“I was trying to flirt with you,” Cassian sniffed haughtily, “but fine. Be all serious and smart.”

“…I would appreciate it if you would not flirt with me.” That was another thing Cassian did a lot of, and unfortunately, he did it far too well.

“Hey, it’s legal now. Let me enjoy my new liberties.”

“Not if Trump has anything to say about it,” Lucien muttered.

Narrowing his eyes, Cassian leaned forward and lowered his voice conspiratorially. “Ah yes, the orange man.” Tapping his fingers together, he thought for a moment. “Can a ghost be charged for murder?”

“No. But I would get charged instead,” Lucien said tightly, because he honestly wouldn’t put it past this massive goofball not to assassinate the president. “Just leave it to the CIA, okay? If they can do Kennedy, they can definitely get away with murdering a talking cheeto.”

“What is this cheeto you speak of?”

Okay. Even Lucien couldn’t deny the ghost that one simply pleasure. “Tonight, my sweet summer ghost,” Lucien said softly, finally looking up from his laptop. “You shall find out.”

Chapter 3

You were sound asleep in your bed when your phone started ringing. You tried ignoring it but whoever it was determined to get you up and kept calling.

“God damn it” you groaned before picking it up.

“Y/N! What are you doing? Are you in bed? Its 10 PM on a Thursday. We haven’t gone out together in so long. I just got off work and I can meet you anywhere you want” Y/B/F/N yelled into the phone.

“Y/B/F/N, I really don’t think I should be going out right now. Unlike you, my ass has to be at work at 8 AM tomorrow morning”

“Come on, stop making excuses. We did this all the time when you were in school. It’s been 3 weeks since you saw him. He hasn’t called. He hasn’t texted or sent some carrier pigeon. I think it’s time for you to let it go. I know you still love him but clearly he doesn’t give a shit anymore.”

A part of you knew she was right. It had been almost a month since he kissed you on the sidewalk. You had tried contacting him a few times, but he never responded so you gave up. But everything had re-opened that day, all of your feelings came back to the surface. A part of you was still holding onto a little bit of hope. Maybe he had just gotten scared. Maybe he didn’t know how you felt about everything that had happened and wanted to give you space. Or maybe Y/B/F/N was right and he doesn’t care.

Would the Inquisition take time to celebrate Feast Day (which I think is their version of Christmas??) and what would the companions (and Advisors) say to the Inquisitor giving them gifts?

I think Satinalia is the closest equivalent, so here you go. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to you all!

–Mod Sarah

Cassandra: She likes the decorations and everything, but she’s usually too busy to really consider the holiday, and she doesn’t exactly want to go visit her family. She’s shocked as the Herald presents to her a first edition copy of the first Swords and Shields, and her heart swells with affection. She stammers awkwardly at first, trying to find the proper words, before finally just beaming at them. “Thank you! Thank you so much… this is so thoughtful of you, Inquisitor.” She tries to look in the market for something in return. If in a romance, he puts a rose in the cover of the book, and she’s blushing so much as she pulls him aside for kissing.

Iron Bull: He had never really participated in any of the holidays in Thedas, which he never grew up with on Par Vollen, but he likes the decorations and food. The Herald presents to him a dawnstone great axe for the holiday, and he almost weeps at its beautiful. “You’re the best, Boss!” he says cheerfully. “I can’t wait to kick some ass with it!” He hears what Blackwall’s up to, and the Chargers come the morning of Satinalia to help deliver all the toys. If in a romance, they give him that plus half another dragon tooth with the base covered in dawnstone. He responds by carrying them up to the bedroom.

Blackwall: He decorates a little tree or a little bush (whatever he could find) and decorates it modestly on his workbench. He starts carving a lot of little wooden toys for the kids in the refugee camps, and works for hours. He only pauses when the Herald drops by with a gift, a scarf with a griffin sewn on it, and he beams and laughs and thanks them. Dennet sees him later at work in the early morning hours, breath visible but the scarf around his neck. He gets Sera’s help on the actual holiday and delivers the toys to the refugees. If in a romance, the Herald helps him make the toys, and he instead wraps the scarf around her neck.

Sera: She starts tacking mistletoe on every precarious spot of the ceiling and giggles as flustered passersby realize what they’re standing under. When she hears about what Blackwall’s up to, she starts dropping by with little toys or materials for his work. She also spends time helping him by painting some of them. The Herald drops by and, although uncertain as to what to give her, they present her with a new quiver, and inside is a stuffed plushie of a honey bee. She drops the quiver and squeezes the plushie tight, and hugs the Herald just as tight (with a kiss as well, if in a romance. And time on the roof if it’s not too cold).

Cole: He’s not sure how to feel about the holiday– most people are happier and cheerful, but there’s a few with the blues, for various reasons, be it loss or disdain for the holiday. He does his best to make those who are sad feel a little happier, and he tries to help Blackwall with his little project. Come the morning of, all the refugee children are happy, and it makes him happy. The Herald gives him a new hat with less holes in the brim, and while he still likes his old hat better, he’s thrilled because they want him to be happy and they care.

Varric: He likes Satinalia well enough, he supposes, though he gets tired of the same holiday songs being sung in the tavern. When he hears what Blackwall’s up to, he buys numerous toys to donate and feels pleased with his work as he sends along gifts to a few of his friends. The Inquisitor drops by with a fancy new quill and ink set and a pair of socks, because they weren’t certain what to get for him, but he seems happy and thanks them. He’s surprisingly more excited by the socks than the quill and ink set.

Solas: He observes it all from the sidelines and views past celebrations to get some idea of what Satinalia is like, nowadays. He otherwise keeps to himself and comments little on all the decorations and hubbub. The Herald surprises him with a bunch of new paints for his art, and considering how expensive materials are, he’s actually very happy. “Thank you, Inquisitor.” he says brightly. If in a romance, he kisses Lavellan (who probably doesn’t celebrate the holiday but gave out gifts anyways) to thank her. Maybe this holiday is a good thing that should be one of the few things kept…

Dorian: He doesn’t really care much for Satinalia– it meant cold and gaudy decorations and the same songs sung for too long. This year, it was more bitter, trying to reconcile fond memories of the holiday as a child with his family with the reality of his relationship to them now. Though, the others are having fun, so he leaves it be. The Herald drops by with a surprise– an expensive bottle of wine he had been eyeing for months but never obtained, until now. He grins and thanks them profusely, and offers to share it with them. Maybe the holiday wasn’t so bad after all. If in a romance, he giggles. “Oh, amatus, you know me so well… come, let’s go to your chambers and share this, shall we?”

Vivienne: Skyhold does well enough decorating, but she has seen the splendors of the Winter Palace this time of year, done up in reds and greens and silvers and golds with the likes of which you’ve never seen. She uses her magic to levitate various decorations onto the massive tree brought into the hall, which now sits where the Inquisitor’s throne usually is. She hears what Blackwall’s up to and orders many toys to be delivered to his stockpile, though she doesn’t comment on it. The Herald gives her a mask inlaid with opals– the newest in Orlesian fashion– and she is thrilled. “Thank you so much, Darling,” she says warmly, “I can’t wait to wear it to the next ball!”

Josephine: She’s very busy this time of year; she organizes gifts to be delivered to households who support the Inquisition, sends toys to Blackwall’s little project once she hears about it, gifts to those in the Inquisition, decorations around the keep. That’s not even the start of it; there’s also parties to arrange and attend, ordering the tree to be delivered, and all along with her normal duties. She insists she loves the holiday, and that it is, in fact, her favorite. If not in a romance, the Inquisitor finds her a copy of her original family crest, which makes her so, so happy, and she thanks the Herald. If in a romance, the Inquisitor (who already gave her that) instead gives her a porcelain doll she had been eyeing now and then in a catalog but was too embarrassed to order. The doll holds a rose as they give it to her, and she squeals and blushes and kisses them.

Cullen: He’s too busy to really think much about Satinalia or celebrate, but he does smile a little to see all the decorations when he goes about the keep. He has no idea how Josephine manages to do all of this with a smile. The Herald distracts him one day and sends a crew to quickly as possible fix the hole in his roof, which genuinely surprises him when they get back. They also give him a tin full of shortbread cookies, and he’s a happy man. “Thank you.” he says, genuinely pleased. If in a romance, he smiles warmly and kisses her, and they hang out on his bed and eat the shortbread cookies together. He doesn’t even mind the crumbs.

Leliana: She actually helps the Herald with gift advice if they need it, and assigns an agent to make sure no one steals any of the gifts Blackwall’s going to hand out, but doesn’t comment on it. The Inquisitor gifts her a fancy pair of red shoes for the holiday, and she smiles and thanks them. If they have a party later, she can be seen wearing them.

BONUS: Dragon Age 2 and Origins. Enjoy!

Aveline: She’s busy as ever trying, organizing patrols and schedules– ‘tis the season for pickpockets and robberies abound. Nevertheless, she tries to dole out some time to spend with Hawke, who throws a party in their mansion, and she brings Donnic. Hawke gifts her a new shield, which she rather likes, and she thanks them. And they also get a box of condoms from Isabela, which she’s less thankful for.

Carver: He visits for the holiday from whatever he’s doing, and he enjoys his time with his sibling in the mansion. They bicker, as always, but it’s affectionate bickering, or at least some of it is. The day of the holiday, he finds a long box addressed to him, and he opens it to find a brand new sword, shiny and sharp. He goes a bit red in the face and thanks his sibling.

Fenris: He’s never had much time to celebrate Satinalia, always too busy doing work for Danarius, but the last few years in Kirkwall have given him more time. He attends the party Hawke throws, and they surprise him with a bottle of red wine. He grins. “Ah, just what I’ve always wanted. Thank you, Hawke.” If in a romance, he accompanies the thank you with a kiss.

Varric: The last few holidays have been a bit bitter without his brother, but he attends the party Hawke throws. He ends up enjoying spending time with his friends, who end up exchanging gifts and playing Wicked Grace and eating snacks and getting drunk. Hawke just gives him a big bottle of whiskey, which he’s pretty pleased about. “Thanks, Hawke. Come on, it’s worth sharing.”

Isabela: She thinks that Satinalia is fun only when accompanied by partying, and so she is pleased to hear of a party for the holiday at Hawke’s house. It comes closest to a family holiday party, and she ends up really enjoying herself with her friends. Hawke gives him a fancy new hat from the hat shop she loves, and she grins. “Oh, Hawke, you shouldn’t have! Thank you, sweetness.” She kisses them, on the cheek if not in a romance, on the lips and other places if in a romance, though she waits for the others to go before the kisses those other parts.

Sebastian: “Keep Andraste in your hearts this Satinalia!” he says time and again, but the others mostly ignore him. Still, he attends the party and has a good time, as good a time he’s had since his family was murdered– they’re like family enough. Hawke gives him his helmet that looks like this. Then they assure him that they’re joking and actually give him a little statuette of Andraste, which he’s actually happy about. If in a romance, he actually gives them a betrayed look when they give him the helmet, but he does laugh about it.

Bethany: If a Grey Warden, she managed to get some time off to spend with Hawke. If a Circle Mage, Hawke had to bribe numerous templars to get her just for a few days. In either case, she enjoys the time at home, and Hawke takes her all over Kirkwall to go shopping. Hawke presents to her a new gown, much to her delight, and she hugs her big sibling happily. It’s just like how it was before everything…

Anders: He shows up to the party, and tries his best to not delve into talking about the plight of mages, at least for the evening, though he does shove his little pamphlets into various nooks and crannies of the house. Hawke shocks him by giving him a tabby kitten for the holiday, and he almost starts crying, he’s so happy. “Thank you! Oh, he’s so cute!” he gushes. “I’m going to name you… hmm… Sir Pounce-a-Lot II!” He proceeds to spend the rest of the party cuddling his new kitten and babying it. If in a romance, he keeps showing the kitten to Hawke even though they’re the one who bought the cat in the first place. “Look, love, can you believe it? We have a new member of the family!”

Merrill: She’s never really celebrated this holiday before, but she enjoys the party Hawke throws and thinks it’s great fun as she ignores Sebastian trying to tell her about its meaning. Hawke gives her a basket of all sorts of colors of yarn, and she gasps and beams. “Oh, it’s so pretty!” she squeals. “I’ll never lose my way around Kirkwall again! Ma serannas, Hawke!” she cries as she hugs Hawke tight. If in a romance, she squeals and kisses them and tries to make them a hat or something with the yarn.

Alistair: They don’t really have time to spend on the road celebrating Satinalia, but the Warden surprises him with a holiday gift they bought from the last town they passed. It’s a variety of Ferelden cheeses in a tin, and he grins. “Oh, wow! Thank you! This is perfect!” he exclaims happily. If in a romance, he beams even brighter. “Cheese and a wonderful woman. I couldn’t ask for better gifts.”

Oghren: He’s doesn’t really care about Satinalia one way or the other, but the Warden brings him a big bottle of booze as a present anyways. He grins and cradles the bottle. “Well, now. I like this holiday now. Thanks, Warden. Come on, share a drink with me.”

Sten: He doesn’t care about or think about Satinalia at all until the Warden gives him a plate of cookies as a gift. He stares at them for a moment before taking it. “Thank you.” he finally says. “It is a good gift.”

Shale: She’s seen the holiday many times before, and she hates it because villagers would put ugly decorations on her or get drunk and piss on her. She is baffled when the Warden approaches her with a big, remarkable diamond. “It… is trying to give me a present for the holiday?” she asks. They nod and confirm it. “I still despise the holiday, but thank you.” she says, taking it happily.

Loghain: He enjoyed Satinalia when Anora was younger– seeing her eyes light up at all the gifts was a sight to see, and made all the work worth it. The last few years haven’t quite been the same, but he pauses when the Warden brings him a botanist’s map of Thedas. Finally, he smiles and thanks them.

Dog: He gets a big beef bone and thanks the Warden by giving them numerous slobbery kisses.

Leliana: She loves Satinalia, from the decor to the music to the goodwill. The Warden gives her a Chantry Amulet, and she responds by grinning ear-to-ear and hugging the Warden– and kissing, if in a romance. She then grabs her lute and proceeds to sing a holiday song for the party by the fire.

Zevran: He hasn’t celebrated the holiday for years, not since before he joined the Crows. As a result, he doesn’t have any particularly strong feelings about it, but he does crack a wide smile when the Warden gives him a bronze bar. “Why, what’s this? A gift for me? Really?” he asks, sounding incredulous. Finally he settles for giving them a kiss on the cheek (or the lips, if in the romance, and sex) in thanks.

Wynne: The mages of the Circle would usually decorate for the holiday, and the templars would allow them a tree to decorate and a feast. She misses it as they’re out in camp, but doesn’t mention it to the Warden– they have enough to worry about as it is. They surprise her with a brand new book to read, and she smiles. “Oh, this is so sweet of you. Thank you.”

Morrigan: She has never celebrated Satinalia, and finds it a waste of time and resources, and mentions it as such when they pass through a village all spruced up and ready. She and Alistair proceed to snark back and forth at each other about it, but she loses interest rapidly. Later, however, she is surprised with a golden necklace inlaid with amethyst that the Herald presents to her. “I am… grateful. Thank you.” she finally utters. “I understand this is for the holiday…? Well, then. ‘Tis a fine gift, and you have my thanks.” If in a romance, she sighs and shakes her head at him. “A hopeless romantic, you are. Nevertheless… thank you.” she says with a kiss.

Nathaniel: He enjoyed the holiday as a boy with his family, but it always seemed a bit off, somehow. He tries to ignore the tree in Vigil’s Keep, and doesn’t comment much on the day, at least until the Warden presents him a new set of locksmith’s tools. He’s silent for a moment before thanking the Warden and smiling slightly.

Sigrun: She oohs and aahs at all the decorations and food and music and stories. She likes it quite a lot, and likes it even more when the Warden gives her a gift of a snowglobe. “Oh, it’s so pretty! Thank you!” she says cheerfully.

Velanna: She spends most of her time shitting on the shemlen holiday when she sees all the decor, but she’s suddenly silent as the Warden gives her a gift of an elven runestone. “I hope you know this doesn’t mean I like the holiday,” she says finally, “but thank you. It is a good gift.”

Anders: He would like Satinalia if all his memories weren’t of it being spent in the Circle. He’s not sure what to make of it now that he’s free, but he decides he likes it as he sits in a comfy chair in the keep, cuddling Ser Pounce-a-Lot in his lap. The Warden gives him a knitted scarf, and he grins. “Oh, thank you! It’s perfect.” Instead of putting it around his neck, he puts it around his cat and smiles.

Justice: He’s baffled that people are busy celebrating instead of trying to correct the injustices still left, but he does feel that Kristoff loved this holiday, spending it with his wife– so it can’t be all bad, he reasons. The Warden even gives him a gift, a book titled Verses of Dreams, which he likes. He thanks them and takes to reading the book with gusto to give justice to the Warden who bought the gift.

Friends (The Heirs! Youngdo) Pt2

Type: Angst Fluff

Part 1

Can you write a part 2 for Friends? Maybe they having a date outside the school? I’m Youngdo trash

I really loved your Youngdo scenario and I was wondering if you could do a part 2 ~💖

You felt awkward as you sat at the lunch table as Youngdo took a seat beside you “you should eat something” he told you as you shrugged. He pushed his tray over to you “eat” he told you again. You felt him grab your chin and shove food into your mouth “stop it” you say as your mouth was full of food now. He smiled as he rubbed his finger along your bottom lip. He really seemed to be a boyfriend-like towards you. He wasn’t denying it when people were asking it but he didn’t say he was dating you either. You two had gained a rather special relationship, he forced you to socialize with everyone. “When I tell you to eat I mean it” he spoke as he rested his arm behind you. You felt his fingers slightly touch your back making you shiver lightly as you started to eat. He smiled happy as he watched you before he remembered where he was and his smile dropped.

~

Youngdo smiled as he put the helmet onto your head “make sure you hold on tight” he told you seriously as he got on the bike and you got on behind him. He felt your arms rightly around his body before your face was in his back “I’m not that bad of a driver” he told you as you shook your head keeping it planted into his back.

~

Soon he pulled up to your house, he wasn’t sure what he was expected. “You live in a rather expensive building” he spoke as you rolled your eyes “my family isn’t as rich as yours but we do make money” you say as he nodded. “The company my dad works for paid for this because my dad was that needed” you say proudly “how about you let me come in then?” he says as a smirk was clear “no-” “Y/N?” you hear as you turned to see your mother “oh you brought a friend. Come come it’s chilly” she told Youngdo he gave you another smirk as he headed towards your home. Your mother touched his arm lightly “you’re a strong male” she said squeezing his arm lightly “mother” you say embarrassed “are you two dating?” she asked. “Yes” “no” two separate answers flew from your lips as your mother made a sound “I see” she told. “Stay for dinner. Your parents won’t mind right?” she asked as he shook his head.

~

As soon as he walked in his ears filled with the yelling of little boys. “That is Daeso and Yangho” you say as he was soon tackled by the small boys who were able to play with a bigger male.

“So you go to Jeguk then?“ your father asked as you all sat down to eat “yes” Youngdo answered calmly “what does your father do?” he then asked “runs and owns the Zeus Hotel Group” he said as your dad dropped his fork. “You’re interested in my daughter?” he then asked as you and your mother had offended looks on your faces “don’t say it like she’s not pretty” your mother nagged. “She was sweet enough to bring her boyfriend here” you groaned as your head hit the table. Your brothers did the same to copy you as they started laughing. “Is it like this often?” Youngdo asked “this is a family dinner son” you father said as Youngdo looked surprised he had a warm feeling in his stomach at the moment. “Money does magical things doesn’t it” he mumbles. He felt your hand take his under the table giving his a squeeze.

“Can you buy a rocket ship?” Daeso asks as Youngdo gave him a look “you know I’ve never checked” he responds “could you buy a rocket ship and let us ride in it?” Daeso continued as Yangho nodded. “It wouldn’t be safe or possible” you say. “I don’t think Seoul would allow a citizen to buy a rocket no matter how rich” you continue. “Why not?” Yangho whines “because regulations and hazards that could come. Rockets mean fire and fire means burn” you say simply. “Well aren’t you a party pooper” Youngdo mumbles “someone has to be the voice of reason” “or the complete drag” he teases as you pressed onto the pressure point on his hand as he let out a yell. “Just like a married couple” you mother coos as you roll your eyes.

~

“So how different is it?” Bona asked as Chanyoung and you shared a look “they actually eat together. The tables aren’t huge. She has siblings that actually like her” Youngdo lists as the rich ones were curious on it all “so it’s different from yours?” she asks Chanyoung who nods. “I’m guessing siblings make dinner more fun. How old are they?” He asked as you pulled your phone out. “Daeho is 7 and Yangho is 4” you say as he smiles before the phone was taken from you. “Who’s Gray?” Youngdo asks “my eldest brother. He’s in the military. We text sometimes” you tell as he made a sound. “I called your brother a loser then. He’s not-” you waved his words off.

“What do you eat?” Myungsoo asks “bulgogi, stews, kimchi, hot pots. Many things you would find if you didn’t eat at 5 star restaurants or have a professional chef at your every beck and whim” you tell as he makes a face. “You don’t need to be rude” he told you “you act like I’m some new animal at a zoo” you tell him. “It’s different from what I have” he says “I know that’s why there’s class differences” you finish. “Nothing better than making a meal with your family” Chanyoung spoke as you nodded. “It’s great when you can make a mess and not get yelled at about it” you continue as he nods in agreement throwing you a smile. “Don’t get along too well” Bona threatens. “I don’t care for him that way” you tell them “he’s nice but not my type” you tell. “What is your type?” Youngdo asks as you look at him “I don’t have one” you tell him. “Then how is he not your type?” Myungsoo asks “for one he has a girlfriend and one he loves. Also even without a type I don’t believe he fits though” you tell him. You pick up your books sliding them into your bag as you put it on your shoulders. “I have to go shopping for groceries” you say as you get up.

~

After a few days of debating in his head his Youngdo grabbed your arm after your last class before you would run off to the library and took you with him. “What are you doing?” you asked “we’re going on a date” he says as you felt the helmet being placed on your head. “You’re going to tell me about your life and in return I’ll tell you about mine” he says as he pats the helmet letting you get one and once more felt your face buried in his back as he started his bike.

~

“What is this place?” you asked “its the restaurant inside Zeus. I don’t go to many places to eat so” he spoke as he allowed you to sit down. “Speak” he says"what do you want to know?“ you ask as he shrugs “what’s it like having a family like a real one?” he asked feeling embarrassed “its annoying” you start before a smile came to your face. “But at the same time I couldn’t live without it. I see the rich as lonely people with only money to keep them company. The lower classes don’t get the oversized homes so you really can’t run away from each other. You’re more likely to run into each other at some point” you joke. “You can hate them but they always know how to make you laugh or cheer you up. Or press your buttons. They make it easier to be human” you say “and yet you’re a calculator at school” he told as you roll your eyes. “It’s easier to be fake there than real” you tell. “You. I guess your life is boring if you want to spend time with me” you say as he shakes his head “you make it entertaining. That’s why I want to spend time with you” he told as you nodded.

“You said a date. Your family would never let that happen” you tell him “Tan and Eunsang” he says. “Money never stopped them” he finishes before food was brought out “yeah. But why me?” you asked “I’m not special” you say “no you aren’t” he says as you glare. “If you were expecting something romantic and charming it doesn’t happen with me” he told “but you’re wrong. Everyone is special once they make their step into a different social rank” he says as he took a big bite of noodles. “You’ll be special to the rick because you’re not rich and I’ll be special to your family because I am” he told “I never said I’d date you” you spoke clearly. “I never gave you option not to” he says with a smirk as you sighed deciding not to fight him because at the end of the day. You were his and he was yours even if neither of you could really admit it earlier.

White Rabbit - Seventeen

Spencer Reid’s apartment was everything Alice had imagined it to be. Neat and tidy, with everything well organised. Bookshelves completely lined one wall and Alice knew that if she moved a book, he’d be able to tell instantly which one it was. It was cosy though, homely.

“I like it here,” she announced, standing in the middle of the room.

“Erm, thanks. You have a nice apartment too, Ally.”

“Yeah but it’s not mine. Ellen controls what I do with it. This is yours, it matches your personality. It feels like you.”

Spencer had watched her as she’d walked into his home, her eyes quickly scanning the apartment and clocking the doors and exits. She’d walked over to his books now and was skimming through his collection, running her hands over the spines.

“You read a lot, right?”

Spencer nodded.

“That’s what I missed most when I was at the compound. They had a collection of books there and Charlie would bring me stuff from his trips into town, but it was never enough. I could have happily sat and read all day when I was younger, immersing myself in worlds so much different from this one. Now though… Now I don’t enjoy it as much. At least not fiction. I can’t lose myself anymore.”

“Because of the things you’ve experienced right? I understand. In this job you see a lot of things and I used to enjoy being able to lose myself in a fictional universe but now…. Sometimes it doesn’t seem right. So aside from the classics and some series I can’t seem to stay away from, I tend to stick to fact based books too. Essays and such.”

Ally bent down to where he had his book series stored and she pulled the last Harry Potter book from the shelf.

“I never even managed to to finish these. And I adored these books.”

“Take it then, by all means. I know the stories off by heart anyway. They’re all stored up here. One of the perks of having an eidetic memory, being able to remember everything I’ve read.”

“I imagine that also has its downfalls.”

Reid nodded again, “It does. But anyway, if you want the books, take them.”

“I can’t. Maybe when this is all over I’ll buy them and read them from the start.”

“Alright. Well, give me about thirty minutes. I want a quick shower and I need to get some a change of clothes and some things.”

The rest of the evening was intense and awkward. Spencer and Alice returned back to the Manchester’s home to find that Ellen had prepared a meal for the four of them, much to Alice’s dismay. She’d hoped to be able to slope straight off to her apartment as it was approaching 8pm by the time they’d returned, but her sister hadother plans.

Alice knew it was because Ellen wanted her questions answering but she couldn’t. She just didn’t want to talk about it with anyone who she didn’t have to. Every time Ellen started to ask, Alice would just tell her, “No”.

“Alice, stop being awkward. We have a right to know,” Ellen finally burst out, scowling at her younger sibling.

“You really don’t. You don’t have a right to know anything that happened because it didn’t happen to you, it happened to me.”

“I have every right to know. You were placed into my care when you were younger, and you’ve been living in my house since you returned. I deserve to know what sort of fucked up business you were involved in.”

Alice shook her head and mirrored her sister’s scowl. “I was placed into your care alright. And look what happened, I ran away because the care was so great. Trust me Ellen, if I’d had any other choice when I came back, then I wouldn’t have been here. Why don’t you ask what you really want to know, I can almost hear the question slipping from your mouth anyway. So ask it. Stop pussy footing around it.”

The girl was almost spitting with anger and Spencer couldn’t believe how different and yet similar the two sisters were.

Alice had stood up now, her knife and fork clattering to the plate. Across the table Ellen copied her, the girls standing off against each other.

“Ellie sit down,” Robert tugged on his wife’s arm but she shook him off.

“No,she’s right, I wanna know. We didn’t get to hear what was said this afternoon, so I don’t know what other revelations we’ve missed, but I need to know this now. You were with them for nearly five years. They killed people. Did you?!?”

Robert sucked in his breath, averting his eyes from his wife and to Alice.

“You don’t have to answer that Alice. It doesn’t make a difference. We love you either way, you don’t have to answer.”

Spencer looked up at the young girl, her shoulders heaving as she tried to control her breathing. Her face was flushed and her fists were clenched at her sides. She was almost shaking. Alice looked between her brother in law and her sister, trying to breathe deeply, to get a hold of herself as she tried to answer the one question she’d been terrified of being asked but knew that she inevitably would be.

“Robert, be quiet. For once, take my side here. I want to know. Did. You. Kill. Anyone?”

“I DON’T KNOW ALRIGHT! I DON’T KNOW!”

Alice kicked her chair back and bolted from the room as Ellen burst into frustrated tears. Robert looked up at the ceiling, listening to the sounds of the house, to Alice storming through it.

“Guest bedroom. Top of the stairs and turn right. It’s opposite the bathroom. You might not see her at first, she’ll be behind the closet door.”

Spencer thanked Robert and then quickly followed his instructions, taking the the stairs two at a time and finding the door to the guest room. Robert was right, he couldn’t see her.

But he could hear her breathing. The closet door was open and folded back on itself, moonlight streaming in through the open drapes, the only light in the room.

“Ally, I’m going to come in and close the door. I won’t turn the light on.” He did as he said and shut the door behind him quietly, letting his eyes adjust to the dimly lit room.

“I’m walking across the room to the closet door okay.” He padded quietly, passing the bed and then sinking to his knees when he reached the door. He didn’t pull it back entirely, but instead slotted himself in next to her, seeing Alice with her knees drawn up against her face and her head resting on them. Her breathing was ragged and he could hear her beginning to choke on the air.

“Ally… Ally, look at me. Please, raise your head and look at me,” he soothed, twisting his body so he was facing her in the small space.

She raised her head, her cheeks still flushed and her hair tangled over her face. She shove it back quickly, and Spencer saw the tears glistening on her face. She was beginning to hyperventilate.

“Look at me Ally, breathe slowly. In and out. Focus on my eyes and copy me. In and out… In… and out… ”

Alice locked eyes with Reid and he tried to ignore the terror in them, the sheer uncertainty.

“In….. and out, Alice. Come on, you can do this.”

She slowly started to mirror his breathing, her green eyes fixed upon his. After a good three minutes or so and Spencer was starting to feel light headed himself from breathing so deeply, but she appeared to have gotten it under control. Her cheeks were paling slightly, returning back to their normal colour and she sat upright, resting her back and head against the wall.

“Sorry,” she rasped out, her voice slightly hoarse.

“It’s okay. You’ve relived a lot a memories over the past two days. You’re doing so incredible well though Alice, you need to know that. So well.”

She closed her eyes and sat there in silence, not responding but gathering her thoughts and senses back together. Spencer let her, readjusting himself next to her but being very careful not to touch her, he didn’t want to startle her. It was a lot to go through and he felt terrible for her that she’d kept all of this locked away for so long. He felt even worse knowing that they were going to have to dig deeper to proceed with this case.

“I don’t know if I killed anyone. How can I not know?”

“You don’t have to talk about it now” he told her, his voice low and calm again.

“I do. I have to.”

Thoughts Roundup - Twin Peaks: The Return, Part 16

“No knock, No doorbell”

There are moments in pop culture history that I always feel envious about - envious because I wish i’d been there to experience it them as they happened. I wish I could’ve seen Talking Heads perform live, I wish I could have seen The Shining in cinemas when it was first released, and I wish I could have watched the original run of Twin Peaks when it first aired. The thing about the desire to have experienced these things as they happened is directly tied to the environment they’re released into, and the effect they had on the public at the time. You can get the blu ray of Stop Making Sense, you can find The Shining screenings in independent cinemas, and you can buy the Twin Peaks boxset. But what I really want is to know what it felt like to see Twin Peaks every week, at a time when Dynasty and L.A Law were as exciting as TV got. I want to have been a part of those conversations that people had about the show. I want to know how people like my Mum felt when she watched it back in 1990 (for the record, she hated it. She’s got great taste, but Twin Peaks was decidedly too weird, according to her).

I came along to Twin Peaks ten years ago, when the show had vanished from the conversation and was yet to have a second life thanks to the likes of Netflix and Hulu. David Lynch’s work was alien and exciting to me - I remember seeing a Fire Walk With Me VHS in HMV years before and asking my Mum just what it was. I remember seeing clips of Blue Velvet late at night and being terrified of it. And finally, I remember seeing clips from Twin Peaks’ last episode being featured on a countdown of the 100 Scariest Moments on Channel 4. That’s when I knew I had to find out just what the fuck it was all about. And I have such fond memories from 2007 & 2008, of obsessing over the show, watching episodes on summer evenings in my room, excited about waking up the next day so I could tell my Mum and Brother about it. The thing that the experience missed is a feeling of communality. The moments in the show that rocked my world and made me feel a way i’d never felt before were experienced solely by me, in a tiny bedroom, on a portable DVD player. The moments that, when they first aired had people all over the world talking now felt like they were being seen in 2007 only by me. But now, ten years on, as Twin Peaks: The Return heads towards the finish line and its biggest moments reverberate from it with electric power, I finally get to have what I never had before: the experience of watching it with the world. The only other show I experienced that with was Lost, a show I watched religiously and passionately. But The Return feels different - it feels bigger.

You can feel that there are fans who’ve waited 10, 20, 25, years for it, and it carries the extra weight of knowing that this really might be David Lynch’s last filmic or televisual outing. Think about that for a second. This week might be the last time we can say that we have David Lynch’s work to look forward to. He’s spoken about how he’s moving away from films and towards visual arts, and at 71, going back to the world that forever cemented his name in the Pop Culture canon could be the most perfect swan song of his career. As a result, every episode feels loaded and essential, and with the events of tonight’s episode, it feels like we’re seeing something iconic take place. We are reacting together. We are experiencing it together. I’ve had conversations about it with my girlfriend, a bunch of friends, family members, and some randomers online for good measure. These are those shared experiences i’d longed for. 14 year old me, watching monumental television unfold and wishing he had someone to share it with is being rewarded every week, and I’ve never felt more rewarded than I felt with part 16 and its own monumental developments.

Dale Cooper is awake. Finally. Whether you’ve waited a season, or 27 years, nobody can deny the immense satisfaction that this development delivers. It feels huge. It feels iconic. It feels like something truly good and pure occurring in a bleak world. I got tearful, I laughed, I smiled so wide my face hurt. I didn’t realise how badly I needed Dale back. How badly the world needs Dale back. “People are under a lot of stress” notes Rodney Mitchum tonight. They certainly are. Whether they’re residents of Twin Peaks or Las Vegas, the characters throughout this return have resided in a world of hurt. It feels sharply current, and a reflection of an America that feels broken. Out of the pain, through the pain - through a violent electric shock that is - returns to us Dale Cooper, the hero we both need and deserve. He is Lynch and Frost’s testament to goodness, their monument to the power of kindness. The electrical power that has given him new life like some kind of benevolent Frankenstein’s monster is finally used for goodness, a reminder that a thing which can contain evil is not entirely comprised of that evil. There is room for goodness - the Mitchum brothers have hearts of gold, as Dale (it feels SO FUCKING GOOD to finally be able to write “Dale”) tells them. Janey-E and Sonny Jim are good people caught up in someone else’s awful web. Dale is a good man who promises that he will one day walk through that red door and come home for good. For now, he’s walked through that red curtain and is back home with us. Whether he himself comes back to Janey-E and Sonny Jim, or whether a copy of him (he tells Mike to make another) takes his place, I adore the humanity and warmth his family is written with. They are dearly cared about by Lynch and Frost.

Dale remembers every moment with the Joneses. It meant something. It filled his heart up, and kept him going, and Dale’s poignant sincerity - god, i’ve missed it - tells her this honest truth. The miraculous and thrilling thing about his awakening is there is no need to stop and explain everything to Dale. There is no catchup. He is awake, dressed in his sharp black suit within moments, and is on the way to Twin Peaks while the main theme chimes in cathartically, and here he proclaims: “I am the FBI”. I cannot think of a greater, more exciting and meaningful moment in TV. I have goosebumps just thinking of it. If The Return has all been about trying to return to something that once was and the difficulties surrounding that, then this episode seems to posit the optimistic and moving idea that some things will always be. Like Laura Palmer and the Log Lady, Dale Cooper always will be, and it is hard not to take great comfort in that fact. Like the river running through the town, or the moon overhead each night, the forces of good will always exist, even if they are reborn. It needed to take 16 episodes. It needed to feel earned. And it needed to make its point, which it has with powerful brilliance.

The comfort of Dale’s return is contrasted by Doppelcoop’s pretty un-fatherly sacrificing of Richard Horne, who it’s revealed through a casually mumbled line, is (or was) Doppelcoop’s son. Doppelcoop’s headlights are still probing the road in front of him, still pushing onwards into that darkest of night, and there is a feeling of dread every time we see these headlights, waiting for them to illuminate the iconic “Welcome to Twin Peaks” sign. It is just a matter of time. Richard is destroyed by an electric light that engulfs him, and possibly whisks him away to the black lodge. The question is open of who sent Doppelcoop here, exactly? It seems to have been a trap designed to wipe him out, and it seemingly came from either Jeffries or Diane. His coldness and his manipulative ease is frightening here - he has known all along that Richard is his son, and feels nothing upon seeing his son killed. And Richard follows his father’s orders in a perverse mirror image of the people who follow Dale’s orders. He marches happily into the darkness where he is killed because that is Doppelcoop’s power: if he tells you to do something, you do it. With Dale, you listen to him similarly, but not from fear - instead from respect and love. Dale has always been a delightfully bossy person, but because Doppelcoop has twisted Dale’s goodness into evil, he has taken that friendly bossiness and turned it into a dictatorship of demands. If you don’t listen to Doppelcoop, you die. If you do listen to him, you’ll probably die anyway.

Diane, we hardly knew ye. Well, maybe that should be DoppelDiane. We knew something was wrong - every moment she was on screen, Laura Dern masterfully sold Diane’s trembling dread with a wild intensity that was both all-knowing and untouchably distant. She was full of secrets, and Doppelcoop’s text to her (nice to see that lodge spirits use emoticons!) seems to have triggered something inside Diane which sent those secrets pouring out of her. The revelation that she is not the real Diane but instead a manufactured Diane sounds crazy, but suddenly everything about her makes sense. A real tortured Diane is in there somewhere, or at least her memories are, and perhaps if she is in the same place as Laura there is a distant hope that she is safe, or can be brought back. Doppelcoop has throughout the years been playing god. He has manufactured people, he has manipulated people, he has bent everything to his will, and Diane is an example of what that does to a person. She disappears after being shot in a wildly intense sequence, and her body is viciously flung, disappears, and then winds up in the red room. Here, She is destroyed. So, where is the real Diane? Where is her soul? What happens to people like her and Laura? It is heartbreaking to find out that all along, she was just a pawn, and her story of what Doppelcoop did is even more heartbreaking. It’s a sad end - but is it the end? I’m certain I heard her say “i’m in the sheriff’s station” in this scene, which seems to be where all the story threads are heading towards. I can’t help but think of Judy. Whoever she is, she’s got a LOT of explaining to do.

Gary and Chantal, we hardly knew ye, either. Their end is hilariously overblown. A fender bender turns into the most ludicrously violent uzi-led shootout, and it really is down to their own stupidity. They were vocal supporters of violence, and they died fittingly violent deaths - deaths which echo Bonne & Clyde, except Gary and Chantal aren’t really so romantic. They’re just two dumdums who eat a lot of crisps and mess up simple tasks.

Audrey’s scenes tonight gave us the double rug pull. The first was “Surprise! She is in the real world”, and the second was a bigger “Surprise! Of course she’s fucking not!”. There was something so uncanny and strange happening with her throughout the last episodes, and Diane’s claim that she’s not herself tonight called back to Audrey’s similar claim in a previous episode. Her appearance at the Roadhouse feels realistic enough, until the MC announces Audrey’s Dance, the song she danced to all those years ago, and the crowd moves off the stage so that she can dance dreamily once again. The moment is inexplicable and as hypnotic now as it was then. However, where it once felt otherworldly in a wonderful sense, it now feels laced with menace and literal dreaminess - a violent altercation in the Roadhouse wakes Audrey up, and suddenly she is in a bright white room staring at herself in a mirror in confusion. The beautiful dream, the gorgeous music, the perfect concoction that sent nostalgic goosebumps up our arms is coldly revealed to be quite literally unreal. She is somewhere else now, where the lush purple lighting of the Roadhouse has been replaced with a blinding clinical whiteness. Her dance - so joyous and soulful - is snatched away from us and replaced with uncertainty once again. Is she somewhere with Laura and Diane, or someplace else entirely? I think we will find out, but what matters is that she is not here, she is not herself, and the dream has ended.

It is incredible the range of emotions that an episode of Twin Peaks can stir. The questions I want answered most are clinging to me tightly - who is Judy and what does Doppelcoop want? - but the overall feeling I get from The Return and from this episode is not of confusion, but overwhelmed emotion. An episode where Dale speaks would in itself be enough to knock you out, but with everything else that happens, the episode is a behemoth - yet it is carefully written and plotted. Despite the questions, I didn’t get lost in the weeds, and the return of Dale feels like a moment of shining clarity to help you through. There is a feeling of togetherness and unity now that Dale is awake again, and a sense of safety that wasn’t present before. And so, we head into the final week of Twin Peaks maybe ever. And like the millions that we are sharing this experience with, tonight’s episode is about sharing our experiences with others - be it Diane sharing her experiences with the FBI, Dale sharing his life with Janey-E and Sonny Jim, or the Mitchum Brothers sharing their generosity with the Jones family. It’s about the power of sharing, of not living alone. And while it may be painful (Diane), or beautiful (Dale and Janey-E), it is essential that we share the experience. It’s the source of goodness, and the goodness is now wide awake in Twin Peaks

What's going on with Marvels comics this time?

Okay, so this guy who called himself “The Whisperer” who claims to be a Marvel Comics employee dumped a crap load of company dirt onto reddit. Once those rumors surfaced Bleeding Cool ran an article about how it was all crap. And then the rumor leak guy fired back that Rich, the administrator of Bleeding Cool, got paid by Marvel to write the article debunking his rumors. Honestly the entire thing is like a soap opera.

I mean I shouldn’t find this stuff interesting, normally I don’t, I stay away from gossip sites for a reason (and that reason is most of it’s torrid and exaggerated) but as someone who’s worked in the market of business data and trends for twenty years I *have* been wondering why Disney hasn’t intervened with the comics division of Marvel when a) it’s going under, sales are way down and b) they’re ruining their brand with crap storytelling. So out of all of these ‘rumors’ the one I can actually believe is that Disney is staging an intervention and also toying with the possibility of moving Marvel Comics to Burbank, California in order to keep a closer eye on them all.

Anyway, the rumors that started the drama are copied and pasted under cut (and by pasting them here I am no way claiming or endorsing that they are in any way valid, they very well could be a bunch of crap) and I linked the Bleeding Cool article debunking some and taking credit for others above…

Yes, of course!!

I’ve had my Kindle Paperwhite since 2015, and I am absolutely in love with it! For anyone who doesn’t know, Kindles are e-readers created by Amazon.  There are four versions currently for sale:

- Kindle: The basic Kindle device (which currently costs $79.99 on Amazon) is the cheapest e-reader Amazon offers and, consequently, the one with the least features.  It’s just a simple touchscreen, so you can either tap or swipe to change the page (to go either forward or backward).  As far as I can tell, there are really two things that set this Kindle apart from the Paperwhite: it has a lower screen resolution–only 167 ppi compared to the Paperwhite’s 300 ppi (for perspective, the iPhones 6 and 7 both have 326 ppi, at least according to a quick Google search I just did haha),which really isn’t a huge deal as the text is still perfectly visible for reading; and the screen doesn’t light up.  This second flaw is really the only reason I chose the Paperwhite instead.  While you would still be able to read just fine in daylight, you would have to turn on a lamp or something to read in the dark.  I imagine you could buy a book light and clip it onto the device, but I just personally felt that would be more hassle than I wanted.

- Kindle Paperwhite: The Paperwhite (which is what my Kindle is), currently costs $119.99 on Amazon.  You can pay more to get your Kindle with built-in WiFi and/or 3G, but I have never quite understood how that works and not having it has not been a problem for me, so I wouldn’t recommend that.  Again, the Paperwhite is just a touchscreen like the cheapest model.  It actually has the biggest screen of all the Kindle devices, which is interesting.  I pretty much already covered the differences, so basically it is just the basic Kindle with a built-in light and higher screen resolution.  In my experience, the built-in light is one of the best things about Kindles because it allows me to read in the dark without needing a lamp (which is especially convenient when I’m outside or in a car in the dark–I still remember the struggle of squinting in attempt to read in the car at night because my parents would never let me turn on the lights in the car).  The light is adjustable, so you can have it set to anywhere from 0 (basically no light) to 24 (AKA blinding light).  To give you an idea of how bright it is, I typically keep it at around 10 when I’m reading in the dark before bed and increase it to 15 or so during the day–it all depends on the lighting.  As you might expect, it definitely drains the battery more if you keep the brightness high, but it’s clearly not necessary to have it that bright.

- Kindle Voyage: The Kindle Voyage, which was the fanciest model at the time when I was trying to figure out which one to get, costs $199.99 on Amazon at the moment.  Its screen is smaller than that of the Paperwhite (but slightly bigger than the basic Kindle), but its main feature is that it has “page press,” which is basically just these sensor-button things on either side of the screen.  You can still use the touchscreen as you would on the other Kindles, but you can also change the page simply by pressing the buttons.  Initially, this was the Kindle I wanted, but I tried it out in a Best Buy store and decided against it.  The “buttons” aren’t raised or anything, so instead you have to press pretty hard on the side of the device to get the page to turn, which just seemed like more effort than it was worth, in my opinion (granted, that was two years ago, so it’s possible they have since improved the technology–if you think you might be interested, I’d recommend going to a physical store that sells the devices to try it out for yourself).  In my opinion, it’s just not worth an extra $80 just for some buttons and a smaller screen.

- Kindle Oasis: Finally the most recent addition to the Kindle family is the Oasis, which costs $289.99.  In my opinion, this is way too much money for not much improvement.  What makes it costs so much is that it comes with a cover that charges the device.  Frankly, unless you’re going to be somewhere where you won’t have access to electrical outlets for weeks (or, according to Amazon, months), there’s no reason to pay this much money (as far as I can tell).  As I will explain more later, all of the Kindles have incredibly long battery life even without this fancy cover.  I just don’t get the point of the device.

Kindle eBooks

As someone who doesn’t make a habit of purchasing new books, I love buying books on my Kindle.  I am fortunate enough that I usually receive several Amazon gift cards each year from family and friends, so I just put them on my account and constantly keep my eye out for deals.  I never buy Kindle books for full price (frankly I think $10 for just a digital copy is ludicrous), but Amazon constantly puts eBooks on sale for $2.99 or less.  Most books I buy are $1.99, and they’re not just random books no one has heard of.  To give you an idea, here are a few books I have purchased for $2.99 or less in the past year or so:

  • I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
  • First & Then by Emma Mills
  • The Love That Split the World by Emily Henry
  • My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows, and Brodi Ashton
  • Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
  • Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

And the list goes on…

Also, as you may know, most classic novels can be “purchased” for free in eBook format as older novels are usually in the public domain.  This comes in handy when I want to have a more portable copy of whatever book I’m reading for class, as most are in the public domain.

While I love both of those features, the way I get most of my eBooks is through my local library’s digital book collection.  Many public libraries offer eBooks through Overdrive, and those eBooks can easily be sent to your Kindle for you to read while you have them checked out.  I absolutely love this because I could get a new book in the middle of the night without the obstacle of library hours.

Battery

As I alluded, the Kindles (or at least the Paperwhite) last forever without charging.  Depending on how much I’ve been using my Kindle, I can usually go at least one week, if not two or three without charging (and even then, I’ve never actually let it run out of power).  I never have to worry about bringing my charger on vacations because I know I’ll be fine, which is so great.

Kindle Features

Here are a few of my favorite features of Kindles:

  • Goodreads: You can easily access Goodreads on Kindle, which is nice for finding new books and updating your reading progress.
  • Kindle Store: You can also get to the Kindle Store and purchase books right on your device, which lends itself well to impulse buying (thus how I have so many books on my Kindle, haha).
  • Highlights: It’s super easy to highlight quotes you like, all of which are stored in a “book” called “My Clippings” for easy access (it even stores highlights from library eBooks that have since been returned).  As you can probably guess, this is super useful for me in storing quotes to share with you guys, especially if I am at school when I come across them, though I’m weird and nostalgic so I like to go back and look at the dates and times when I highlighted certain quotes (I like to figure out what class I was in at the time lol).  Also, the highlights do save even if you are not on WiFi.
  • Dictionary: Even when you’re not connected to WiFi, you can always click on a word (or sometimes even a phrase) to look it up in the dictionary.  On WiFi, you can also look up a word on Wikipedia or have the device attempt to translate it into another language.

eBooks vs. Physical Books

I know lots of people are against eBooks (in fact, I used to be one of them), but I love them so much.  The Kindle screen really feels like you’re just looking at paper, so I don’t find it to be hard on my eyes at all, unlike how my phone and computer are.  It makes me able to read more books in more places and carry multiple books at once.  It has been so incredibly helpful with reading at school.  Now, I am able to sometimes walk to class while reading (I haven’t run into anyone yet lol), and it’s not quite so cumbersome to get a book out and start reading as it is with a physical book.  I do still love physical books and read them regularly.  I think they both certainly have their merits!

So, long story short, I absolutely adore my Kindle!  I use it almost every single day.  If anyone has any more questions about Kindles, please feel free to ask!!
