Steven Universe’s Antagonists From a Plot Standpoint

When you consider Steven Universe as a tale progressing linearly, it fails several criteria that, in my opinion at least, would make the show’s pacing and characters feel more real.

For example, every single “antagonist” has been shelved in some way or form. They are not pictured, mentioned, or even thought about by the protagonists until they are literally shoved in their faces.

In this post, we will be looking at how Steven Universe has handled their protagonists poorly, what could have been changed in order for their presences to make sense, and/or the implication their stories have on the entire overarching plot.

Druid Week: Druids in the Game

As a DM:

Druids already have a huge part in most roles, so they don’t need much in terms of catering. A bard might need to feel more involved in a campaign, but a support druid can also provide utility, tankiness, damage… they can Wild Shape or cast a spell whenever they need anything! They are one of the most versatile classes in the entire game. If they need encouragement, give them a variety of challenges (as you should always be doing, really) to force them to take more creative problem-solving measures.

Make unique landscapes and environments for the druid. You don’t have to do it every time, but every once in a while feel free to go overboard. Floating midair land masses, waterfalls that flow upward, geysers of acid, an insect hive the size of a city… just describe some beauty shot that can really tug at the druid’s magic-strings. They will be interested in the unique plants and animals and magic there, which can influence how you populate such a land. Not to mention the other players will love such a wondrous place, too.

One thing a lot of DMs forget is to give druids a place to excel. Druids fall flat inside an enclosed dungeon. Give them space out in the open; in the wild. Give the druid some non-magical beasts to interact with. DMs always forget that regular threats like lions, tigers, and bears exist and with a druid, these often turn into roleplaying encounters rather than combat ones. Speak with Animals, Animal Friendship, Beast Bond, Beast Sense, Animal Messenger, Dominate Beast, Locate Creature, and Commune with Nature can all interact with beasts in some way. Beasts are everywhere if the druid is looking for them.

Another thing to keep in mind is plant life. I just did a whole two-part post about Herbalism as a more fleshed-out system for 5e. Part 1 is just a pipeline of dice tables to make up new herbs. The herb could play a minor role in a story or adventure, or it could simply be a useful tool that exists in your world. For instance, I once had some herbs with yellow flowers that would act as healing potions, but you could only eat them twice within 24 hours or you would get sick. Ever since then, the players could find those herbs elsewhere and have a unique source of HP instead of a boring old potion. Plus they have the a-ha moment of realizing they found something useful on their own instead of opening a chest and finding it there. Part 2 of the Herbalism Guide was more about how to use the herbs as potion ingredients, as medicine, and as spell components. If you want to go the extra mile or want ideas for what herbs could do, use it!

Just like clerics, druids can have supernatural senses that can add to the mood of an adventure. Imagine if you were a druid PC and the DM says “The druid senses something off about this forest. It makes you feel sick.” or “This jungle is in agony. You empathize with its pain, which feels like insects stinging you all over your body, and you can almost hear the wails of the trees.” Druids could make an Insight check to try and feel how a beast is feeling in the same way. It singles out the druid, identifies the problem as environmental corruption, and enhances the mood. What more could a DM want.

As a Player:

Get the Most Out of the Game:

Ask your DM questions about the flora and fauna and traits of the setting. When you travel to a new area in-game, be sure to cast Commune with Nature and get a lay of the land. This can add to the experience and provide vital information on targets for Locate spells, herbalism, and beast-influencing spells. Don’t be afraid to ask your DM for strange things that might not exist in the standard rules like “Can my druid think of any herbs that could cure paralysis in this environment?” The DM might find that intriguing and make it a plot point (making things a bit easier on the DM and giving you a potential solution to your problems to boot).

Don’t be afraid to request unique creatures to Wild Shape into, even if they aren’t in the book! I don’t see jellyfish in the Monster Manual but if a player asked me for it, I would just turn them into a Poisonous Snake with no land speed and 10 ft. swim speed, but maybe increase the poison damage a tad. And heck, who says there aren’t Giant Jellyfish in the realm of D&D? Use a Giant Poisonous Snake for that! You could easily reskin monsters like that, especially for cosmetic reasons. In the tropics? Turn into a Giant Parrot instead of a Giant Eagle. In the tundra? Turn into a Snow Hare instead of a Badger to better hide in the snow. In the desert? Turn into a Coyote instead of a Wolf. There are so many animals in the world, there is no excuse for creativity on your end as a druid!

Wild Shape:

Optimize the usage of your Wild Shape. Pick the right animals for the right jobs!

  • Mobility/Scout: Giant Elk, Deer, Hyena, Horses, Flying Snake, Giant Owl, Giant Eagle, Giant Badger, Ape, Panther, Giant Toad, and Giant Crab all have either fast movement or unique movement (fly, swim, climb, burrow).
  • Tackle: Lion, Panther, Allosaurus, Giant Octopus, Crocodile, Giant Constrictor, Giant Toad, and Giant Crab can all knock enemies prone or restrain them.
  • Poison Damage: Poisonous Snake, Giant Scorpion, Giant Spider, and Female Steeder (OotA) all have poison that can deal damage to those not resistant.
  • Sustained Damage: Wolf, Giant Crocodile, Tiger, Giant Boar, Ape, and Dire Wolf all deal reliable damage and have adequate tank.
  • Tank: Warhorse, Black Bear, Giant Constrictor, Rhino, Ankylosaurus, Whale, Elephant, Hulking Crab, Triceratops, and Mammoth all have a bunch of HP and AC.
  • Spy: Mule, Horses, Cat, Frog, Crab, Snakes, and Spiders are great at hiding and some have blindsight! Crag Cat (SKT) has Nondetection as well!
  • Thumbs: APES HAVE THUMBS. Which means that they can manipulate things other animals can’t. Also: You can wield your weapons while in Wild Shape!

Other tips: use summoned minions or your allies to help flank enemies while in Wild Shape. Cast buffs before you Wild Shape, make sue they don’t require concentration if you want them to stack, otherwise you can at least concentrate on one thing while in Wild Shape. If you are in a long dungeon with little to no rest,  save Wild Shape for big fights when the tank is worn down or save it for utility when the other casters are low on spells. Also for grappler beasts knock the enemies down before you grapple. Then they can’t move and when they break grapple they can’t get back up as easily!

Buffs: Druids are great for buff spells. Be sure to buff yourself before entering Wild Shape! ex: Enhance Ability, Faerie Fire, Longstrider, Barkskin, Stoneskin, Protection from Energy, Antilife Shell

Zoning: Druids have crowd control spells, but many of them control crowds through zoning. Take advantage of the fact that you are the largest influence on the surrounding environment. You get to change the battlefield to your advantage! These are big, flashy spells that make the druid fun. Use them to put obstacles in front of creatures to slow their advances, make it harder for creatures to dodge, provide cover for your party, or force enemies into a trap. “Oh there’s a Wall of Fire there I better go around it” [gets bottlenecked by ranged PCs instead of taking fire damage] ex: Wind Wall, Wall of Fire, Entangle, Plant Growth, Spike Growth, Flame Sphere, Sleet Storm, Insect Plague, Wall of Stone, Wall of Thorns, Bones of the Earth (such a cool spell)

Minions: In D&D 5e, most ACs are nearly the same thanks to Bounded Accuracy. So more attack rolls equals more damage. Minions help with this, and druids can get plenty using Conjure Elementals, Conjure Fey, Conjure Woodland Beings, and Conjure Animals! Not to mention spells like Awaken and Dominate Beast to get more allies.

Healing: Druids are good at healing. Note that Healing Word is a bonus action and has range, unlike Cure Wounds. Druids also get the Restoration spells and Reincarnate, which is less powerful than Resurrection and such, but hey it’s something!

Damage: Druids can output damage, mostly through their zoning spells, but also with some neat single-target spells. Note that Moonbeam and Blight are rare sources of Radiant and Necrotic damage, respectively.

Utility: Druids have utility. Various divination spells can break the game if you are clever. Several spells help you get where you want to go or get rid of enemy spells. Use them liberally unless you have a Wizard to lighten the necessity for utility spells. ex: Speak with Plants/Animals, Water Breathing, Animal Messenger, Pass Without Trace, Find Traps, Locate Object/Animals/Plants, Gust of Wind, Detect Poison/Disease, Detect Magic, Dispel Magic, Meld into Stone, Scrying, Tree Stride, Commune with Nature

Top 5 things you'd change in Merlin?

1. Acknowledge that Uther and the Great Dragon are the series villains that make the most sense. I mean, on the one side we have a king who committed genocide and continues to perpetuate it to this day (in his wife’s name, cool motive still murder) and a dragon who has a reason to have a revenge vendetta against that king, immediately starts killing people when freed, and makes a bunch of prophecies that are completely self-fulfilling. On the other side, we have a series of women who had their friends and family and way of life ripped away from them and want to take revenge on the person who caused all their heartache while stopping that genocide, and a focus on a woman who tried to protest that king’s unjust laws even before she found out they would apply to her and was drugged by someone she trusted instead of trained the way he trained some kid he’d just barely met. Like, tell me again that it makes sense for Morgana to be a villain given this set-up?

But a story where Merlin and Arthur and Morgana and Gwen are pawns caught between Uther and the Dragon’s revenges and wrest control of the story away and make a true golden age? That’s far more interesting.

2. Speaking of which, GIVE US A DAMN GOLDEN AGE. If destiny was destiny (see the next number on this list) and Arthur was always supposed to bring us a golden age, where the fuck was it before he died? Magic never came back to Camelot. The wrongs were never righted. Camelot is going to be a mess after that last huge battle against Morgana. Where’s the Golden Age? If they weren’t going to give it to us, the show should have ended with Arthur alive and making a commitment to that golden age, rather than with his death.

3. Destiny. Look, I’m going to make this easy. Give us one episode where there’s a prophecy made about something bad where Merlin and company say “nope, we’re not letting that happen,” and it doesn’t happen. Let people’s choices matter. What’s the point of acting out a story that’s already been written out ahead of you? It was lazy writing and it was fucked-up worldbuilding that was never acknowledged to be fucked-up and by the end of my time in the fandom I was eyetwitching a little whenever anyone in the show or the fandom mentioned destiny as a positive thing. It was a mess of self-fulfilling prophecies and the only one that didn’t come true was the good one where Arthur would bring about a golden age and return magic to Camelot.

4. MAGIC REVEAL FFS. After a while it was lazy writing, and they thought the secret was the mechanism the show ran on when it really wasn’t. Merlin should have told Morgana the second she showed signs of being magical and he should have told Arthur … oh, I would have picked the end of s2, cliffhung, and picked up s3 with a full season of Arthur yelling at Merlin and slowly coming around to realize that magic wasn’t evil, so when he took the throne in s4 he would be able to start slowly grappling with what he wants to change and how much. I know this is Merlin’s story and not Arthur’s, but Merlin stops looking like a hero the longer he keeps the secret and lets Arthur continue to persecute people like him, and it makes Arthur less of the legendary king we’re meant to be seeing.

5. Consistent tone. We went from “silly family show” to “in the game of thrones you win or you die” and it was a mess. Also the cringey Comedy Episodes. Can we be light with less fart jokes?

Bonus List Of More Achievable Goals

1. Instead of Gwen’s s5 plot being her being mind controlled, instead she recruits Sefa as a double agent so a. we get two non-evil recurring ladies and b. Gwen gets to be badass and queenly instead of losing her agency.

2. Loathly Lady episode. This episode replaces the Gwen/Lancelot zombie mind control mess.

3. At least twice a season, we briefly see a magic user who is friendly, not a tool of the villain, and not planning to kill anyone. It can be brief, but it has to happen and at least one of those people has to live.

4. Less fart jokes. I think we can manage that, I think that’s acheivable.

5. Tristan dies instead of Isolde and she becomes a lady knight.

Why it doesn’t matter anymore whether the lostspecial’s “revelation” is genuine or if there’s a 4th episode

First thing to say is this: I never post anything, I live in the shadows, and enjoy taking part of TJLC behind the anonymous’ face. I have followed several tumblr account from a long time. I have been part of TJLC since the day lsit created her blog, the day after TSoT. In other words, I have seen my fair share of mindfuckery, of blogs I liked receiving hate but I have never taken an active role in this fandom until now.

Like many TJLCers, I decided to watch TFP having high expectations, knowing for sure I was about to witness something groundbreaking.

Well, I wasn’t wrong. Not really.

First came disappointment: so was everything a farce? A pure publicity stunt? Even the lostspecial website is a lie? Are we that desperate for something to be clever?

And then I was thinking… So what if we are? None of this makes sense anyway. Why shouldn’t we ask for a miracle?

The MCU is scared of female villains.

Given the amount of replies of my Zemo/Wanda post I was re-watching AOU and CA:CW (ugh) and I got in the conclusion that the “New Wanda” that the Russos tried to sell us and Zemo, was a pretty obvious demonstration of the MCU writers being scared as shit of putting a female character in a villainous position.

Why? I tell: as we saw in the two movies, Zemo is practically a male, old, non-powered version of AOU!Wanda. He just made the plan more complicated, and of course he ended in jail, but his goals were the same as hers. He even ended using Tony’s mental state as weapon to destroy the Avengers. While Wanda is made “the innocent girl that can’t control her powers”, which like I’ve mention in this post and this post and this one, is a big pile of bullshit.

What’s with this subject? Dark female characters in media are often criticized and labeled as “anti feminist” and “misogynistic” because interferes in the new agenda of “making roles models for little girls”.

Which I think that’s bullshit because not all female characters must be perfect fucking saints. When I was a kid I understood perfectly what was real and wasn’t and I grew up loving grey and evil female characters because they were compelling; this new trend of thinking that parents left the TV educate their kids for them and therefore the writers and creators must create a shit ton of role models and what they think these are it’s killing creativity.

So, Zemo receives the story-line that one movie ago was Wanda’s and succeeds, while she…

She disappears.

The Wanda in Civil War suddenly can’t control her powers, suddenly doesn’t give a shit for the Avengers invading countries when that was supposed to be one of her mine motifs when she first appeared and also suddenly followers orders and seems to pass as the poor victim of discrimination against super powered people.

All of this is shit.

They tried to sell us the typical modern empowered heroine and pure perfect girl giving her old story-line the male villain and they failed.

Typical Modern Empowered Heroine:

  • Tries to do good shit and fails.
  • Is blamed for something that she didn’t.
  • Rises up against a male that “oppress her” (Tony and Vision in her case).

Pure Perfect Girl.

  • Infantilized even when she is a legal and biological adult. Example: She’s a kid!/If you want to mope go to high school/You locked in my room, etc.
  • Clearly dressed with more fairer tones that suggest nativity and youth in contrast with her former appearance (red, black).
  • Showed in a helpless situation for the audience to feel pity for her. Example: Lagos, The Raft.

All of this fails miserably.

It contradicts everything established:

  • Wanda certainly not a child.
  • She had control of her powers during all fucking AOU, including the evacuation in Sokovia.
  • Tony and Vision are not the “oppressors” because Wanda is clearly the one power. Tony is a human that she victimized in the past and Vision is younger and more naive than she is.
  • She didn’t like the Avengers messing in her country but seems fine with messing herself in Africa.
  • Given that she’s a powerful being is illogical then a simple straightjacket will not be able to contain her, electroshock collar or not.

As I said: bullshit.

Wanda with Zemo story arc would have being compelling not only for the villain destroying the Avengers being a woman but also because it would have less plot holes because:

  • Wanda using her powers to mess with the Avengers from the beginning to save her skin and his brother’s would have made more sense. She is not in your head?
  • There’s not fucking logic in Wanda caring for the Avengers suddenly.
  • She could have seen the secret about Tony’s parents in Steve’s mind.
  • She knew about Tony’s struggles and mental illness.
  • Her final revenge to Tony would have been in her mind poetic justice: watching his parents die.
  • The Avengers would have been ended really from the inside.
  • The destroyer of the Avengers would have been a powerful being that did more than just want to conquer/destroy the world.

It’s really bugs me that they fear so much this that they just created that male mirror of Wanda. And made this pseudo child to pretend that she was heroic all along.

Of course it’s worse the fact that the fandom complete bought it.

Female villains don’t have to be a taboo.

Female villains are not a taboo.

Animes with a large yaoi fandom that are NOT yaoi/BL~

UPDATE: To the idiots who are actually flaming me, how cliche and illiterate can you get, it’s hilarious.

I’m probably going to lose a shit ton of followers and get a lot of hate on especially on a bishies blog like this, but I’ve been thinking of making a post like this for a while and frankly, need to let this out of my chest.

So to my disturbance but unsurprisingly, I noticed a lot of people who like anime, but have not seen the following animes I am about to list, thought they were shounen-ai, boys love or yaoi. Because of that, a lot of people avert from them dismissing the animes off as pure fanservice for crazy fangirls.
I understand this because I was and still am one of those people who stayed away.

But after having the pleasure of diving into actually watching/reading Kuroshitsuji, Durarara!!, Hunter x Hunter, K-Project, etc. you start realizing how damn deep these works of fiction are and you really enjoy the characters and plot once you zone out the fandoms.

There is no yaoi or BL whatsoever and any fanservice added is simply added in the anime and is in no way canon to the original work, manga.

I won’t be mentioning sports animes or reverse harems cause they’re full of guys, the fandom is bound to be crazy over that so I’ve given up hope.

Basically, I just want to be a bitch and crush fangirly dreams so this post is pretty much me proving to newcomers why these animes are not yaoi and the men are not ‘gay.’

Okay, if you hate this already, stop here, backspace, block me, whatever. If you agree, carry on.

If you do happen to carry on but don’t agree, DO NOT attempt to argue or fight with me on this. Sorry to say, but I’m not really that open-minded and I stand firm on my beliefs here so if you don’t agree, then don’t ever socialize with me. Everyone is happy. We’re good.

Let’s start with Durarara!!

Let’s start with the most popular and raging ship in that fandom. Shizaya.
Shizuo and Izaya have been confirmed that they feel only hate and dislike towards each other. They literally want to get rid of each other. That’s it. And somehow, that is interpreted as ‘love’ by fangirls.
In any case, the author already answered that Izaya was ‘normal’ and that he ‘has his needs.’ In Japan, that equates to being a healthy, heterosexual male who has normal sexual urges now and then.

Despite claiming to love all of humanity, Izaya does flirt with women a lot and even said how he wants to date one or a few of them when they threatened to kill him.

Shizuo used to have a crush on an older woman who sold him milk. He was originally supposed to be paired up with Namie by the author. He is also ship teased with Vorona and she to him.

Never had Shizuo shown any interest in men.

Now on to K-Project.

Reisi has been canonically ship teased with Seri. Seri has been revealed to harbor a bit of a crush on him.
Reisi has no other feelings towards Mikoto other than wanting him to take responsibilities as King and a comrade. Mikoto is 100% indifferent to everything aside from his clan and family.

Yukari Mishakuji is beautiful. He talks femininely, use makeup and skin care products. He paints his nails and is obsessed with everything beautiful.

He also said that he would only date Nagare Hisui IF he was a girl. If that doesn’t not ring a bell, I don’t know what does.

Let’s go on to the ever so famous Kuroshitsuji and its famous bullshit rumor about it being “supposed to be a yaoi.”
A Japanese person runs a blog on this website responsible for translating Yana Toboso’s blog.
She has already confirmed that literally, no one in Japan including the author herself know anything about that made up rumor. As time went by, the rumors only got worse to the point that even non-shippers believe it (like I stupidly did in the past)

Both Yana and her editor already said too many times that Sebastian and Ciel feel nothing for each other aside from business, hostility and distrust. Let’s also add that Yana had GFantasy publish Kuroshitsuji. A company that strictly prohibits yaoi and BL of any form.

Ciel throughout the manga and especially in the latest chapters had only shown concern and love towards Elizabeth Midford. Ciel, a cold-hearted child obsessed with revenge was legitimately about to throw his life on the line when Lizzy was in danger during the Campania arc.

Whether this can be interpreted romantically or platonically on Ciel’s part is more ambiguous, but there is no doubt that the two care greatly about each other.

If Sebastian really had ‘feelings’ for Ciel like so many fangirls like to believe, he would definitely do everything in his OP demonic power to get rid of Lizzy and have Ciel for himself.

Instead, he actively teases Ciel and respects Lizzy as well as support their fiancee relationship. Any ‘feelings’ he has towards Ciel is that of a predator and his dinner.
Sebastian also has a lot of fun interrogating women in certain, special ways. Something he has never shown interest in doing with men.

Finally, Hunter x Hunter.

Ever since a shounen like HxH attracted female viewers, no doubt because of the generous amount of bishounens on there (Hisoka, Killua, Illumi, Chrollo, etc,) the yaoi fandom now dominates the place and Killua and Gon became the most popular ship.
Even more than canon ones like Meruem and Komugi.

I have run across people who even said that Killua and Gon are canon and that there can be nothing to challenge that. (apparently fangirls think they own shit now)

Killua had said countlessly that Gon was his “dear friend.” To anyone with common sense, a friend is not the same thing as a lover lol. There is nothing between the two little boys aside from a beautiful friendship that often occurs between children and adolescents even if a website like tumblr might find this shocking.

Let’s finish this with Hisoka, a character that has much controversy recently regarding his sexuality ever since certain people including I headcanoned him heterosexual cause we can.
But because of that one simply headcanon, people I personally knew and I were attacked, harassed, badmouthed and mocked.

Until Togashi or Ishida confirms anything, Hisoka is left ambiguous.
That does not mean that we cannot analyze canon evidence however.

When it comes to every single male character in HxH (including Illumi and Chrollo, the two male characters often shipped with Hisoka,) Hisoka has only expressed desire to fight and eventually kill them. This stretched down to Hisoka’s only ‘friend,’ Illumi. He has absolutely no problem killing Killua just to earn Illumi’s wrath to have the opportunity to kill him.

Hisoka’s interest in fighting Chrollo turned into 100% indifference when he learned the Phantom Troupe leader could not use nen courtesy of Kurapika.
Gon is just another toy he wants ripened to have the pleasure of killing.

The only person Hisoka is intimate with, tried to sleep with, get a date with, shared his past and his abilities with is to the beautiful female character Machi.
This extends to the latest chapter of 357 where he seemingly spared her at least temporarily out of respect.

Even when Machi threatened to chase him down to the ends of the world to eradicate him when he playfully makes her choose between him and Chrollo, he seemed satisfied with that.

For Shingeki no Kyojin, the most popular pairing in the Western fandom is Eren and Levi.
In the Japanese fandom, the most popular ship is Eren and Mikasa.

While I’m at it, SNK’s author answered in a Q&A that he purposely wrote Levi to have an attraction towards Petra Ral.

And that ladies and gentlemen, concludes my throwing shade analysis of the above yaoi-dominated animes.

(Also, I own none of the drawings used.)

I’m going to talk about the characters first then the story. This is because the show decided to let the characters and interactions drive the show as opposed to the actual premise of the show itself. The show isn’t about the apocalypse, it’s about Shinji.

Shinji is by far one of the most complex characters I’ve come across. He’s a very timid teen who wants to be useful but has a laundry list of mental health issues. His mother died at a young age and his father abandoned him. Not just in a physical way where Shinji had to live with his grade school teacher but his father flat out says ‘I never loved you’.

He’s constantly avoiding other interaction and when he does interact with others, he’s nervous and doesn’t add much. Shinji is basically the living embodiment of social anxiety and depression. He wants to be this person that people love and want to associate themselves with and is willing to do whatever to have that social acceptance, but he’s scared. This makes sense seeing as Shinji is a teenager with major mental health issues being asked/forced to protect the world from monsters that could backhand ‘Godzilla’. It’s like if you asked ‘Charlie Brown’ to become ‘Mad Max’ during the events of ‘Pacific Rim’.

He does slowly but surely open up throughout the show, mainly to his current guardian Misato and the other pilots. There were points where Shinji’s character became annoying and I didn’t want to hear him whine and complain. The worst scenes are when he is told to pilot the Eva and he refuses for a short period of time. But my issue isn’t with Shinji. It was how he was presented during those scenes. At no point is he glorified in the show. The way it’s presented, the show tries to get you to understand why Shinji feels the way the does and the framing is what’s wrong. I’ll get to that later.

I’ve spent so much time on Shinji because the other characters can be wrapped up much easier.

Round Three of the Great Fic Writer Scavenger Hunt

“Oh. My. Gosh.” Charlie gasped, nearly toppling out of her chair. She’d been hanging out in the Bunker during her spare time, catching up on the new Supernatural books (Somehow, some way, Chuck was actually publishing new ones, to the dismay of the Winchesters.)

Dean looked up, very worried. “You okay?”

“Yeah, no, I’m great, I just…wow, this plot twist came out of nowhere.”

Dean frowned. Chuck’s books might have been ridiculous, but their content typically came true. And from the sounds of it, something bad had just occurred. “What happened?”

Charlie’s eyes widened and she coughed awkwardly, as though trying to avoid laughter. “Oh. You know. Nothing, uh, serious.”

“Charlie,” Dean said warningly, making a swipe from across the table for her tablet, which she fielded with ease. “I need to know.”

“Promise you won’t steal my tablet?”

Charlie sighed, taking a deep breath to try and settle her face into a neutral expression. “It’s about you…and Cas.”

“What about us?”

“Well, uh, it kinda comes out of nowhere, but there’s this one hunt where you two, um, kiss.”

The Final Problem: Making Sherlock Holmes a good man

After The Lying Detective, I didn’t know what to expect for the last episode of series 4. John and Sherlock had reconciled on screen after hurting themselves and each other so deeply over the course of years. Mary had made her mark and worked herself out of the series. In two episodes, the main problems left by Series 3 had basically been resolved. What was left for big finale?

With that trepidation in mind, I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed The Final Problem. It wasn’t easy to watch, but I found it powerful and convincing in ways that many others apparently did not. It tied up a lot of standing issues: the Moriarty business, from his initial interest in Sherlock to the last Miss Mes, the Why of Sherlock from series 1 onward, the Why of Mycroft and the broken Holmes Brothers’ relationship. It gave an emotional grounding to the fundamental contradiction of this Sherlock Holmes: a strongly empathic person trying to override sensitivity and compassion with extraordinary analytic ability that is (strangely) a source of great insecurity. As a closing chapter on the story of Sherlock’s progress from being a Great Man to a good one, I found it incredibly satisfying. The bizarre premise of a series of rooms on an island fortress was romantic and dramatic, but not out of style for a show that has featured delayed-action stabbings (TSOT), an un-convict-able super-villain (TRF), and a serial killer engaging in a battle of wits with every victim (ASIP).

Maybe I read too many fantasy stories about quests as a child, but I wasn’t bothered by the improbability of the plot, nor by the use of all non-protagonist characters to further this hero’s journey. This episode wasn’t about John, or Mycroft, or Molly, or even Eurus. However, their respective relationships with Sherlock have made him grow in different ways, and the sequence of crises forced on him by Eurus serve to prove how much he has changed, both to her and to himself. That the depiction of these tests put the audience (well, at least me) through the emotional wringer heightened (my) satisfaction and confidence in Sherlock’s transformation. In the moment, I didn’t care if the action did not make much sense; the why has always been more important than the how in BBC Sherlock.

Over the course of four series, Sherlock has gone from being a self-destructive solitary man-child to shouldering the responsibility of healing his own broken family, and that change in perspectives and priorities is huge. He is willing to learn from Eurus (rather than feel threatened by her abilities), to work for the sake of his parents and siblings (rather than push them away like a whiny teenager), and to care openly about his chosen family. Finally, Sherlock has the stability to treat strangers’ needs with respect and sympathy, as mature Holmes does the stories of ACD.

Besides capping the great progress of Sherlock Holmes, The Final Problem also moved me with the story of Eurus. There are plenty of stories about weirdly precocious children, but this was the first I’ve really appreciated about a younger sister, and it really hit home. Around the comic violence, Eurus is treated with sympathy, her struggle recognised and respected. This is helping me think very useful thoughts about my own familial relationships and that kind of impact is a hallmark of good art.

There was plenty more to enjoy in this episode (just as there was plenty to criticise) but a last point that mattered a lot to me was a big deviation from the usually crime-solving content of detective stories (or stories about detectives). Through the Holmes family’s history and present, we finally have a look at the consequences of violent crime and the criminal justice process on the families of the incarcerated. The temptation to forget, the importance of remembering, the intra- and inter-individual conflicts about engaging with loved ones who are or are deemed dangerous. The specifics were fanciful and not without their problems, but it’s an important change from having so many antagonists dismissed as unconditionally evil.

The Holmes and Watson of ACD repeatedly weight the cost of arresting the guilty with consideration for their families, but on BBC Sherlock, the wrong doers tend to wind up dead or arrested without questions of fall out. We haven’t seen a real moral quandary on screen, and I hope that kind of story will pop up in some future independent story about our Baker Street Boys.

anonymous asked:

Hey, hun!!! Can you recommend some really well written fic with plot, good utterance, good descriptions, just skillfully written ones.

I was supposed to make this fic rec long time ago (are you the same anon than weeks ago?) so here we are, let’s do this tonight.

- Coup de Foudre : Harry moves to the front door accompanied by insistent lightning flashes. He acknowledges it could also be a murderer on the other side and that he will likely be dead in five minutes. It should stop him. It doesn’t. Harry decides not to waste another second and calls through to the other side, “Just a second.” He turns the key in the latch and opens it and—everything around him drops away in one long cloud coming into another cloud. (15k)

- my heart’s a stereo (and this melody is meant for you) : Louis Tomlinson, an ex-boybander now stuck in the rut of a comfortable has-been, gets the chance to resuscitate his career when a pop star asks him to write a duet for her highly-anticipated comeback album. Through a chance encounter, he finds a quirky lyricist in Harry Styles, the curly-haired baker and former writer with an above-average sense of rhyme and inexplicable interest in personal questions.Or: the Music & Lyrics AU that no one asked for, in which Louis is Hugh Grant, and Harry is Drew Barrymore, and the slow burn is (hopefully) worth the wait. (122k)

- over fire and water (for your love): non au; where a car accident changes everything, except for what they call home. (6k)

- once upon a dream : Louis is psychic and gets caught in the middle of a murder investigation led by FBI Special Agent Harry Styles.aka. the Medium/Criminal Minds-inspired AU no one ever asked for. (33k)

- Cameras Flashing  : With his breakout single platinum three times over and his second album still selling out in stores around the world, Louis Tomlinson has made it to the top. However, his position as Pop Heartthrob of the Decade is threatened by the edgier, more artistic Zayn, who happens to be releasing an album a week after Louis’ upcoming third. Louis needs something groundbreaking- scandalous, even- to push past him in the charts. Much to Louis’ dismay, his PR team calls in The Sexpert. Consulting with PR firm Shady, Lane and Associates pays the bills so that Harry Styles can spend his down time doing what he really loves: poring over data. On weekends and late into the evenings, he researches gender, presentation, and sexual orientation, analysing the longitudinal study that is his father’s life’s work. That is, until his newest client, the popstar with the fascinating secret, drags him off his couch and frighteningly close to the spotlight. As the album’s release date approaches, will Tomlinson and Styles be able to pull off the most risky PR scheme of the millennium and beat Zayn in sales or will the heat of their feelings for each other compromise everything? (81k)

- a house built out of stone : Louis has a used bookshop and Harry has a habit of claiming things that don’t belong to him. (22k)

- To Give You a Hand to Hold : Marine Louis Tomlinson is medically discharged when an IED explodes in Afghanistan. Months later, he’s reunited Stateside with his Navy medic Harry Styles. The two of them shelter each other even as they refuse to admit they’re in the throes of PTSD, until one night nearly destroys them.   (26k)

- taking tips and getting stoned : Louis drives a taxi. He hasn’t seen Harry in eight years when they have a chance meeting. A lot has changed in that time. But not everything. (24k)

- on a thousand miles and more       : That’s why, after Granada, they decide to stick to the places they went to together.  Retrospectively, maybe that’s when it becomes less of a holiday and more of a pilgrimage. Louis thinks he’s beginning to understand what they’re searching for. It’s something akin to closure, but not closure exactly. Something more tenuous than that. More difficult to put into words.  Something like the first exhalation you take after a particularly horrendous nightmare and you think god, it wasn’t real, it wasn’t real, it wasn’t real.   Except that, in their case, it was.“[Harry and Louis go back to the places that made them who they are.] (12k)

- we’re only stones around the sun       : Harry used to talk about him like that once, months ago when he wouldn’t let himself linger on touches that lasted a beat too long or looks that held unspoken promises. Back then it’d been easy, with the hiding of feelings, now it’s all a mess, complicated and hard. He doesn’t know where one feeling starts and another one stops, how he’s supposed to figure it all out. He doesn’t know where to begin, which thread to pick up and begin untangling, where it’s going to lead him if he does. He doesn’t know if he wants to find out. or, Harry finds that he can’t ignore his feelings for his best friend when the months start ticking down to Louis’s graduation. (46k)

- 210 Days : Harry is in the army and Louis is back in New York. Together, they get through Harry’s six month leave by sending a series of letters back and forth. They’ve done it before, and they can do it again. (16k)

UPDATE (last update on April 3rd 2017)

- Feels Like Coming Home  : The last thing Harry Styles expects when he’s hanging out at the Someday Cafe in Somerville one rainy October day is for his ex, Louis Tomlinson to walk through the door, but that’s exactly what happens. After a spectacularly ugly break-up three years prior, Harry hasn’t heard one word from Louis, and he’s moved on. Gotten over him. But having Louis back in his life, not to mention working at the restaurant where he’s a chef, isn’t easy, and the feelings that Harry thought he’d left turn out to be not so easily forgotten. This is a story about love and the power of forgiveness, and how the hard choices we make define us, and change our lives. (60k)

- Where Your Heart Is  : Louis is ready for his brand new adventure. So what if he suffers from a genetic condition that prevents him from being touched? College is going to be awesome. It has to. Karma kind of owes him right now. Forget about his overprotective mother, or Liam– his entirely too chipper step brother– or his mess of a roommate. Forget about the gloves he has to wear at all times. He’s here to expand his knowledge, write and drown himself in books – No matter how distracting ‘Hallway Boy’ may be– The obnoxious, flirty frat wannabe determined to become the bane of Louis’ existence.Or, a college AU set in San Francisco where two lost boys who seemingly have nothing in common find inspiration, each other, and themselves in the process. Fan Fiction Masterlist

Alphabetical order of category, then by character:

Dragon Age:

  • Fenris and Anders:

A Haircut

Summary: For the Team Blue and Angry- @teamblueandangry -Art/Writing collaboration event I got teamed up with the epic @soryualeksi to write a fic accompanying her adorable art.

Anders is in need of some TLC… And a haircut. Fenris takes it upon himself to deal with the latter issue, surprisingly. Awkward bonding over, amongst other things, Hawke’s strange sense of humor, soaps that Isabella has picked out, and Merrill’s cooking ensue.

Warnings: A little swearing. Vague references to the suffering Fenris and Anders both have experienced. Tried to keep it as fluffy as possible though. A hint of Fenders mixed in, but it can also be interpreted as just friendship. Fluffiness [as usual] abounds!

  • Gary “Eggsy” Unwin:

Comfort In the Dark

Summary: The reader has an anxiety attack in the night and Eggsy, their boyfriend, is there for them when they need him the most.

Warnings: Swearing. Mentions of anxiety attacks. That’s it.

Mass Effect:

  • Kelly Chambers:

Summary: Just a little happy fic for Kelly. Just a moment in time on the Normandy. A hint of Joker/Kelly too, because I ship it. ⌐⌐

Warnings: A little language but that’s about it.

Pacific Rim:

  • Chuck Hansen:

I’ll See You Again

Summary: A moment between the reader and Chuck before he leaves on the final mission. Angst.

Warnings: Some language. Angst.

Waking Up

AU fluff piece; in which Chuck and the reader are married after the Breach is sealed shut and the reader has a nightmare and Chuck is there being all lovey.

Warning: Like one swear word, but trigger warning: The character has a nightmare about being trapped in their Jaeger as it sinks.

Star Trek:

  • Leonard “Bones” McCoy

Summary: Coffee Shop AU Christmas fic (I don’t care that it’s February- Christmas fics are wonderful year-round). Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy isn’t a big fan of Christmas (too many germs, too much suffering, snow, stress about gifts… no just no). Or coffee (makes him too wired). Yet he keeps frequenting the coffee shop near the hospital he works at for some reason. Well, one reason. And he’s certain she just thinks of him as a frequent customer. Until one foggy Christmas Eve…

Background: So I follow the amazing @little-red-83 (BTW, stop by her blog. She’s awesome!) and when I saw that she was doing a Coffee Shop AU Christmas challenge I thought to myself, “Wait. I like Christmas. And coffee. And Star Trek. Oh oh! AND CHRISTMAS CAROLS!” and next thing I knew I was requesting to write a fic tied to the song Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. With my favorite Star Trek character at that! If you follow me for my wrestling fics, you already know what to expect with this fluffy piece.

Warnings: Language. Feels. McCoy being a grumpus at Christmas. Reader being flirty. Writer wondering since when the hell did she start being McCoy.

Special thanks to @sammiielli for being epic and understanding and supportive. Darling you are perfect. Thank you for being my friend.

  • Cesaro:

This Winding Road

A Fluffy Christmas

Summary: Merry Christmas everyone! Dean Ambrose, a puppy, and a tiny box… All in your house on Christmas morning. None of them you expected to be there.

  • Dolph Ziggler:

Bad Luck

Request by anon: Hey hun. Could you do 4 and 13 with my baby dolph ziggler please?

4: “I should tape a sign to your shirt: If found, return to (__).”

13: “Not saying I’m surprised, but just saying, I’m at a loss for words.”

Summary: Lots of surprises await both you and Dolph on a day off together.

Warnings: Fluff fluff fluff. A little language. One bad joke. Slight dirty remark at one point. Might actually be viewed as more of a humorous remark.

  • Enzo Amore:

I Found You

Request: Enzo Amore imagine, writer’s surprise special! For @wwe–lockscreens.

Summary: Lost. On a team-building exercise. With your coworkers. Bright side? Any situation is instantly made 100% better with Enzo Amore in tow… Especially when he’s got a confession to make. To you. About feelings.

Warnings: Fluffiness! And uh… Actually no that’s it. Maybe a feels warning?

Not Kansas - Part One

Summary: A bad attempt at matchmaking from a relative has you annoyed- and confused- and Enzo panicking. A pelican may or may not add to his stress level and Cass is only certain of one thing. More Enzo fluff!

Warnings: Language. Annoying family. ENTP pun/play on words at the end of the chapter… Sorry not sorry!

Not Kansas - Part Two

Summary: A bad attempt at matchmaking from a relative has you annoyed- and confused- and Enzo panicking. A pelican may or may not add to his stress level and Cass is only certain of one thing. 300% fluffier than before!

Warnings: Minor language (I think; maybe?). Fluff. Long part 2. Seriously- this thing is like twice the first part’s length. Allusions to a Carly Rae Jepsen song.

Part of the Snack Series

Summary: Reader’s upset over a party gone wrong. Enzo steps in to turn the night around. A snowball is involved… but not the kind you’d expect.

Warnings: Language [as usual].

Snowball Conclusion

Part of the Snack Series

Summary: A house party gone wrong gives you and Enzo a reason to spend a little time together.

Warnings: Language. Some light dirty thoughts.

  • Finn Balor:

Summary: Summarizing the evolution of the relationship between Finn Balor and the reader.

Warning: The usual swearing, mentions of future smut.

Your Lucky Day

Request by @moxtiel: Hi. You’re wonderful. For the prompt thinger, can you do #2 (ALL THE FLUFF!!) with Finn Balor? Thanks in advance, sweetheart!

2.       “I’d make eye contact with you but I’m too busy trying to melt into the floor.”

Summary: Bad luck: Crashing into the hunkiest man you had ever met before in your entire life, thus spilling coffee all over him. Good luck: Said man is actually really polite about the whole thing. Bad luck: Blind double-date movie night. Good luck: …The hunkiest man ever just happened to look incredibly nice in a band t-shirt and jeans.

FYI: I did what I could to write Finn’s accent in, but I didn’t want to overdo it so I try to applied it where I could easily and didn’t where I thought I might screw up.

Warnings: Some language and, as per requested, ALL THE FLUFF!

Hold Me Close

Request by @nickysmum1909: Can you please write #33 and/or #35 with Finn Balor? Thank you

33: “If I could wrap you in a blanket made of my love for you, I would.”

35: “God help me but I’d do anything to make you smile.”

Summary: Reader is injured during a match and learns that she’ll be out of commission for a few months. Boyfriend Finn Balor does what he can to help her feel loved.

Warnings: Lots of feels. Lots of fluff. Hurt/comfort. Reader gets injured (just a sprain- nothing graphic). One or two swear words. Long fic.

  • Johnny Gargano

Request I picked up from @wwe-smutfics: Anon: QUOTE SERIES: Johnny Gargano. The two of you are relatively new roommates with the quote “I DIDN’T MEAN TO WALK IN ON YOU NAKED AGAIN! YOU REALLY NEED TO LEARN TO LOCK YOUR DOOR!“

Summary: Life wasn’t perfect. Most people weren’t perfect. My ability to spot trustworthy people wasn’t perfect. But Johnny Gargano? Oh yeah, he was perfect in every sense. Except his issue with locking doors and leaving his dirty clothes in the hallway. Ambiguous gender reader character.

Warnings: Admiring of a butt [Johnny’s], swearing, theft, skeevy ex, seeing the roommate without clothes on, and Raini’s usual potty mouth.

Rating: High PG-13?

  • Jon Moxley

Request by @cleo-moxley-ambrose Can you make me a jealous Jon Moxley from CZW (WWE) where my OC Cleo (info on cleo-moxbrose-85) is being flirted by Tyler Black and Jon gets crazy jealous, he had enough and whispers a very dark threat to Tyler’s ear before flashing him a sadistic smile and look. You can make as fluffy as you want in the end, just keep in mind of Jon’s dark side of the story. IT’S MEANT TO BE FLUFFY (the threat can be vague) AND NOT DARK.

Disclaimer: Cleo belongs to @cleo-moxley-ambrose

Summary: Six months into casually dating Jon Moxley and Cleo knows she loves him- as does Sami Callihan, who also knows that his best friend loves her back. But for some reason neither can bring themselves to say what’s on their hearts. So, Sami takes matters into his own hands with the help of- by sheer coincidence and annoying interference- Tyler Black. Of course, in any matter involving Mox, nothing goes easily.

Special thanks to @sammiielli for help with figuring out the plot!

Warnings: Jealous!Jon Moxley. Fluff. Reference to feuds with Santa.

  • Noam Dar

Tale As Old As Time

Noam Dar. Broken-hearted reader who just wants to be left alone… But still believes in fairy tales. Human non-wrestler reader. For Winter of Wolves 2016-2017

Summary: The cute new guy next door seems to have his fair share of secrets… Ones that don’t make total sense… But also has a cute smile and a killer accent, not to mention a heart of gold that seems to be pledged to you. Slowly but surely, Noam wins your heart… And you discover a whole new world you had once dared not even dream of.

Warnings: Some language but not a ton. Feels. Discusses a bleak childhood. Cheating (short portion). Breakup. Allusions to the character battling depression.

  • Roman Reigns:

So Much Potential In The Night

Part of the I Can’t Sleep Series

Summary: You can’t sleep, so you decide to hit the hotel gym and run into Roman, who’s needed to talk to you.

Warnings: Language, some (light) dirty thoughts.

  • Sami Zayn:

Apple Fritter Flavored Kiss

Summary: People are nosey. Donuts are good. You loved the fall season. Sami Zayn’s kisses tasted like apple fritters.

Warnings: Language.

  • Seth Rollins

Friendly Meddling

Summary/Request from @hiitsmecharlie: (Y/N) works at WWE, but she can easily pass by unnoticed at the job (not all the famous type etc). She’s really shy, but once you know her really cute and funny. She likes Seth from the moment she laid eyes on him and so does he, but neither of them actually believes the other may be interested so neither does anything to actually get to know each other. Does it makes sense? Make it cuteeee and flufly.

Warnings: My usual swearing and fluff. Also, long fic.

Change of Plans

Summary based off of a request from @silverrawrs: The attempt at trying to right several wrongs that I’ve been dragged in to unfortunately is planned. The encounter with Seth Rollins that leads to us tracking down an Elvis impersonator who’s stolen an engagement ring is not. The success of the attempt at fixing this mess is planned. The second encounter with Seth Rollins several months later is most certainly not.

Warnings: Cheating. Drinking. Fluff. Exasperated reader with Seth Rollins for being a little heel (BEHAVE YOURSELF SETH!) You have been warned. Some swearing. And… Elvis. Long fic.

RPG Maker Fever Another Episode

Warning:This article may contain spoilers and the content inappropriate for children…or may not contain. But get the children away from the screen just in case.

Don’t mind me,I’m just a peach, who’ve accomplished the quest of gathering materials for my new RMK Fever. What?Who said that peaches can’t do a side quests?Don’t tell me they can’t play RMK games and write reviews on them either-I sure do know they can.Iiiiits feverrrr tiiime!

Yep,that Bury, translation of which caused a lot of commotion quite some time ago.And you know what?I’m really glad I was able to play this game thanks to unknown translator, who made a great job.The only con of this game is enormous maps, wandering on which can be pretty annoying.Other than that this game is great-puzzles designed very similar to Ib and based on famous folk rhymes, story is interesting and really moving, buuut… no happy endings this time.Poor Cock Robin…

2.Midnight Puppeteer

Well this game isn’t a horror, but an adventure-quest.Everything in this game is made on either decent or high level.Gameplay is varied (from quest to some action cut-ins) and really fun, dialogues are well-written-both interesting and sometimes humorous.Puppeteer feels like some neat cartoon or anime show. And the main star of this show is talking teddy-bear-Mister Masper-he’s very bright character, who talks and acts as if Monobear from Danganronpa’ve decided to become a good guy.

3.Capella Promise

Finally we have a game, which can be called RPG not only because of the engine it was made on.Yep,this game is a fantasy-RPG,which despite being made by indie-developers plays a lot like any normal RPG from PSP or DS for example-alchemy,jobs,variety of side-quests-all elements are in place. Also this game has beautiful artwork, good story (turning upside down many cliches from standard JRPGs),interesting characters and good dialogues. All of this makes Capella really enjoyable.

4. Amayado Bus Stop

When it comes to game’s plot Amayado heavily reminds Misao-both games are about a girl, who was bullied at school and after the death has turned into venegful spirit. But if Misao had some dark comedy elements, this game’s story told into more serious tone with more accent on a friendship theme.Overall this game is very quality one-good story, nice puzzles, great designs-everything to neatly spend 3-4 hours playing this game.

5.Headless Prisoner

Finally this game is available in english and it’s totally worth of playing.Basically this game can be divided into two parts-first you play as girl Erina, whose scenario’s gameplay highly resembles Ao Oni,then you play as Red Witch (who you should already know if you’ve played Moonlight Ghost) and her scenario is really fun since it reminds of 2D-arcade shooters, where you kill enemies with magic, and sheds the light on all questions, which appear after playing as Erina.Besides this game has awesome final battle and great True Ending.

6.Cloe’s Requiem

Despite being different games Cloe reminded me a lot of Mad Father-both games have quality gameplay and presentation…and a lot of pretty cruel content and quite non-symphathetic characters. But still this game is very intersting to play thanks to the puzzles, atmosphere and especially sountrack, which uses a lot of famous but not overused classical pieces and the main theme of this game is just beautiful.

7.Fantasy Maiden’s Odd Hideout

This game is made by the same team as Cloe and comparing to her Maiden is a huge step forward when it comes to story and graphics.Gameplay is more simple though, but still very fun.First Maiden is bright and cute, but more you play-darker it becomes.Like Bury this game has a fair amount of allusions on English rhymes and ballads.

8.It Moves

I’m not a fan of Creepypasta, but this game based on the one of such stories is definetely worth of a playthrough. Some places in the story doesn’t make much sense, but overall it’s pretty good-at least the fear of the child who’s afraid to sleep alone in the room and have nightmares because of it looks pretty convincing. The nightmares themselves are amazingly done. All of them has it’s unique mood and atmosphere. If you have a nerves of steel I suggest you to play this game with the lights off and headphones on.

9.The Gray Garden

This game definetely requires a lot of patience. The first hour of the game is all about wandering enormously large maps and listening characters introductions. But patience will be rewarded, since after that a real fun begins. While story may lack originality, characters are well-developed and dialogues are hilarious. Also Garden has plenty of stylish illustrations (I just love Mogeko’s style).

10. Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea

And another Mogeko’s game has made it to my list.Comparing to Garden this game is much more well-balanced-maps are more compact,story-pacing is fast and navigation is better. But honestly I still prefer Garden over Wadda. While Wadda’s story is more complicated, dialogues aren’t that bright and memorable. But game is still very enjoyable. For me the best moment was the invasion of Tosatsu Kingdom, which was literally packed with good jokes.

11. Wizard of White Box

Wizard is relatively short game with few easy puzzles, which however is worth the time spent on it.While story is a bit generic, characters and dialogues are nicely done.Additionaly I want to praise artist’s work, since I really liked character’s designs and illustrations.

12.Bevel’s Painting

Bevel’s Painting is a pretty standard rpg-horror game about a girl who is trying escape from her own painting and who is definetely not in the good terms with her classmates. But standard doesn’t meant bad-the game is pretty decent and if you have some time to spare-you can give it a shot, since coloring doors, studying bevelese and discovering variety of endings can be kinda fun. Also there’s bonus mode in which Bevel looks like a…er…mad cactus.

This game is very short (about 10 minutes) and consists from jumpscares and nothing but jumpscares. What did you expected? This game is simulation of Panic Room, where all ghosts are fake…except for one.Efframai is perfect if you want a quick portion of fear. Also the ending is pretty nice.

New Years - Lucas friar

👑Requested : yes

so could it be where it’s at new year’s and the reader is once again taking Riley’s place and they’re playing the couples game and Lucas is getting jealous as the reader is with Charlie and the reader still likes Lucas and farkle keeps saying stuff(like he does with Riley) and yeah basically that episode😂

I changed the plot a little bit I hope you don’t mind:) I just didn’t want the reader to be Riley but everything Lucas says and does towards Riley will be towards Y/n if that makes any sense Y/n will be with an OC named Jackson instead of Charlie Gardner and Riley is not in the triangle ( I’m so confusing I’m sorry)

“Hey Jackson , whatcha got there?” Y/n asked , seeing Jackson walk over with a board game in his hands.

“It’s the couples game, wanna play? ” he smiled. Lucas stepped in before she could reply.

“What is it?” He asked , a competitive kind of look on his face. Y/n looked between the two boys that she had very different feelings for.

“Shows if you’d be a good couple or not. Wanna play?” Jackson smirked. Lucas glared.

“No!” Riley , Y/n, and Maya , chorused.

“What’s wrong Lucas? Scared?” Jackson challenged.

“No , I’m not scared of anything let’s go!” Jackson turned to Y/n with a smile.

“Y/n I think you’ll find this interesting, wanna be my partner?” He asked and she accepted. Everyone paired up together and they sat around the table. Charlie and Riley went first.

“What is your partners favorite movie snack? I know this , it’s popcorn and licorice!” She smiled , Charlie answered then it was Lucas and Maya’s turn.

“How would you describe your personality? Library or camp fire? Oh, well you know…” He shoved the card in his mouth. Everyone gave him a strange look , except for Y/n. Maya took out a card.

“Is it possible to love two people at the same time?” Y/n’s eyes widened and she looked down , feeling farkles eyes burning holes into her head. Maya copied Lucas and shoved the card into her mouth. Farkle and smackle took their turn and then it was Y/n and jacksons turn.

“What is your partners order at a coffee shop?” Y/n read. “He gets a venti vanilla bean frappé. ” she smiled. Jackson then answered.

“When she orders from Starbucks she automatically gets really quiet and cute , and -” “She doesn’t even know she does.” Lucas interrupted. Jackson rolled his eyes.

“It’s not your turn friar! ” he growled.

“And that wasn’t the question sanders! What’s her or-”

“tall iced coffee -”

“Yeah but-”

“in a grande cup with extra ice, 3 pumps hazelnut, 2 pumps classic, an inch of non-fat milk, with a dome lid and a venti straw. ”

“But what-”

“She pays extra because she feels bad about giving them a complicated order.” Jackson smirked. Lucas growled.

“He’s like a creepy creep creep!” He exclaimed. Riley and Charlie got the last question.

“Have you ever kept a secret from someone you love?”

“GAME OVER!” Y/n laughed nervously and stood.

“Why? Because you know secrets are dangerous?” Farkle said smugly and Y/n glared at him.

“No, Farkle, because it’s almost midnight.” She said matter of factly. He smirked.

“ and you know what happens at midnight. She groaned and grabbed him by his sweater .

"Okay it’s time to go up to the roof!” She grabbed her coat and everyone followed behind them.

When she got up to the roof she let go of Farkle.

“I need a little more time!” She begged. But he wouldn’t budge.

“No more time. We aren’t starting off the new year with secrets between friends.”

“I’m lying for my friend , Farkle!” She said in exasperation. He shook his head.

“I don’t think you know what you’re doing. I don’t think SHE knows what she’s doing.”

“Do you know?”

“I’m sorry, Y/n…this is all new for me too. All I know is that we should always tell each other the truth.” He sighed. Y/n looked him in the eye.

“Farkle…if you really care about me, I know you will do the right thing.” He nodded.

“I do. I will.” Just then smackle came up to the roof.

“Hi Farkle! ” she latched onto her boyfriends arm and looked to Y/n. “Hi girl who’s not going to be with Farkle at midnight because he’s mine.” She smiled. Y/n laughed a little. Smackle pulled Farkle away and Jackson came up.

“Y/n, I think that I’ve proven that I care a lot about you. I’d really like it if you were standing with me at midnight.” He smiled.

“Everything you say makes sense, Jackson.” She said.

“Is that enough?” He asked. Y/n have him a sad smile.

“No…it’s not. You said it, you know it. A good relationship needs more…and you deserve more. I’m sorry.” She said quietly. He just gave her a small understanding smile.

“Don’t be. See what the new year brings. ” he walked away , leaving Y/n with her thoughts.

~ “5 … 4 … 3 … 2 …1! Happy new year!” Y/n tried to run , but she was too late.

“Y/n still loves Lucas! ” Farkle blurted. Every one on the roof fell quiet, their cheers replaced with an awkward silence. Y/n turned around.

“Happy new year…” She blew Into the noise maker.

“Thank you for a wonderful evening!” Yogi said, grabbing Darby and running out of there, the rest of their classmates following.

“Im sorry guys.” Farkle looked at Y/n as she stared down at her hands. “I did the right thing. I hope you can forgive me. Happy new year.”

He grabbed smackles hand and they left the roof with Riley ,Charlie and auggie , leaving Maya , Y/n , and Lucas by themselves. They all say down on the bench.

“It’s midnight…” Maya said quietly. Y/n nodded.

“And here we are.”

Don’t really have anything to say so I’m just gonna leave a bunch of emojis

Under-appreciated Fic rec

I was tagged by the lovely @crossroadswrite to rec some of my favorite fics with under 1k kudos.

This features a wide range of stories with some fluff, some smut, and more than some angsty/dark fic because I adore things that hurt my heart. So be sure to check my comments and the tags for potential triggers.

All Sterek, because that’s what I read.

Numbers [T] [11150] standinginanicedress

“I’m magic,” Stiles raises his hands in the air and puts on a serious facial expression. “I have the sixth sense.”

“The sixth sense, huh? Is that what they’re calling bullshit these days?”

Stiles’ lips purse down hard, but he still smirks. Derek wonders if there’s any single facial expression that Stiles can make that isn’t in some way at least slightly amused, whether at himself or the expense of others. “Non-believers aren’t welcome at my table, Derek.”

Fun and so cute. This is one of my new favorites and definitely deserves more attention.

Post Tenebras Lux [E] [47755] seraphina_snape

After finally (finally) having his first date with Derek, Stiles goes to sleep with butterflies in his stomach. He doesn’t have to wait long for the rude awakening though: after being plagued by nightmares, he shows up at Derek’s place early only to find a stranger in Derek’s kitchen.

Who is the stranger? Why is he at Derek’s place at eight in the morning making breakfast? And why is Derek suddenly behaving so strangely, giving the minor supernatural problem Stiles is trying to solve the brush off and generally acting like he did when he came back to Beacon Hills the first time?

Stiles’ spidey sense is tingling, but all of his attempts to make the pack see the truth fail. They accept Morgan into the pack like a long lost brother and it doesn’t take more than a few days for Stiles to be excluded from the pack.

On his own for the first time in years and plagued by self-doubts, Stiles has to figure out what it is that Morgan is doing to his pack and how to get them back.

How does this fic not have more kudos?? A rich and fully developed story with an intriguing plot, angst, BAMF Stiles, Stydia brotp, and of course Sterek. Check it out!

Staring shadows in the eye [E] [24810] queerly_it_is

Derek has spent six years travelling the country as a hunter, searching for the demon that used him and murdered his family, relying on the unwanted power he holds as Alpha to keep himself going. When he’s captured by another demon who calls himself Stiles, Derek strikes a devil’s bargain to ensure the revenge that’s become his obsession.

But Stiles has an agenda of his own, and when you make deals with demons, nothing is ever as simple as it seems.

Demon!Stiles. Dark (dubcon & painplay warnings), angsty, sexy, and surprisingly touching in places. Featuring Supernatural-style blood addiction.

Gotta love the classics [E] [3979] aprettysmalldose

“Or you could just blow me,” He says, casual as all fuck.

Yup. That’s pretty much the fic.

Biker!Derek, mechanic!Stiles, and blowjobs. This fic is hot and I don’t know why you haven’t all read it yet.

A Mask of Skin and Bone [M] [2628] entanglednow

Stiles had christened him ‘The Puppeteer.’ Which had struck him as kind of amusing at the time.

This is dark and painful, and utterly gorgeous just like every one of entanglenow’s works. Elements of non-con due to a villain’s mind control influence, with the fic mainly focused on dealing with the aftermath.

Tchaikovsky’s Nightmare [M] [30089] fshep

After a week of rehearsal, Stiles is convinced that there’s no way this production is going to end in anything other than misery.

Beacon Hills Classical Ballet Academy performs a variation of Swan Lake where all of the swans are males, forcing Stiles to partner up with Derek Hale. Things go about as well as one would expect.

I honestly didn’t expect to love a story about ballet, but I ended up reading this one twice. Really lovely slow build romance.

In Some Way, I’m There With You [M] [11494] TroubleIWant

Scott slows to a jog as he sees Derek upright and moving, but Stiles keeps running hard. He slides to his knees on the dirt and moss next to Derek and grabs at his shirt.

“Der?” he asks, over-loud and panicky. He’s oblivious to the gore around them, even though he’s kneeling in it. His hands flutter over Derek’s shoulder where the bite is already healing, patting his chest and face like touch is the only thing that will assure him Derek’s truly in one piece. “Derek, are you okay? Talk to me, say something, please.”

Derek’s not sure what to do with all this unexpected attention, and fights the urge to brush the probing hands away. He’s taken worse in fights before, which Stiles must know. Though, he supposes, they’re something different to each other now.

After years of assuming Stiles would never want more than his friendship, Derek is pleasantly surprised to be drawn into an intense relationship with him. Being with Stiles is good, great even. But then why, exactly, does it feel like they’re more distant than ever?

I’m not sure what to say about this without giving things away, but this incorporates some of my absolute favorite tropes, got me teary-eyed at one point, and had me grinning excitedly at another. This author always knows how to create an engaging story, with clever twists and plays on tropes that have me coming back and reading her works over again.

We are the greatest pretenders [T] [6437] heyshalina, marshmallowfluff

(How am I gonna get myself back home?)

Derek wishes Scott wasn’t such a failure of an alpha, that he had noticed the aura of darkness around Stiles before Derek had. Maybe then, it would be Scott now, staring into Stiles’ empty eyes, at his twisted smile, faced with the prospect of killing him.

“You know, I never wanted to be anything other than human.”

Beautiful, painful void!Stiles angst. Derek realizes that Stiles isn’t himself, and Void taunts and torments him.

Collide [M] [28543] allyasavedtheday

“There’s a legend among the druids,” Deaton begins, “it tells of two souls, Silvanus and Antheia, bound inextricably across universes. Two souls that are constantly colliding, not completing each other but-“

“Balancing,” Stiles says faintly, thinking back to all those times Morell talked to them about druids maintaining the balance.

“Mhm. Balance is imperative in our world, Stiles. The supernatural is a turbulent and unpredictable thing, without balance it would implode on itself.”

“So these two souls…”

“Were the bonding of the natural world and the supernatural one,” Deaton finishes for him.

Stiles and Derek are soulmates. It would be just Stiles’ luck that his universe is the only one where they don’t end up together.

One of my favorite soulmate fics. This gorgeous story allows us to explore flashes of Stiles and Derek falling in love in alternate lives, while the (semi) canon protagonists angst over the idea that this seems to be the only universe where the answers don’t come easily.

whatever you want (but you’re gonna have to ask me) [M] [1271] clavicular, vociferocity

Stiles takes another step backwards, and now he’s backed up against the wall, and Derek is still moving towards him. There’s purple dust on his jacket, and Stiles is absolutely freaking out right now.

“Wait,” he says. “Derek, wait. Is that the wolfsbane the hunters were using?”

Derek growls.

Don’t take the tags on this one too seriously. This one’s actually surprisingly cute, so give it a chance, guys!

I’m not drowning fast enough [T] [3676] adjourn

Because Derek has always known, on some level. And he doesn’t care at all.

DO take the tags seriously. Psychopath/killer!Stiles, canon divergent in 3A. Dark and angsty, Derek POV fic as he comes to understand what Stiles really is. Painful and wonderfully handled.

You Got My Mind To Follow [M] [3009] plume_bob

The Nogitsune heads to the loft to seek out its next victim, using Stiles’ desires to deliver its intentions with a more personal touch. Afterwards, Stiles and Derek deal with the fallout.

Void!Stiles fics do not get enough love. This one goes slightly divergent from the loft scene in De-Void, with Void planting the rage-bug in Derek in a more hands on (mouth on?) way, and then shows a bit of Stereky healing in the aftermath of the season.

Burn It Out [T] [6390] Omni

Everything that he was got burned out of him, turned to ash and shadow just like everyone he loved. He was hollowed out and empty, and it hurt like claws across exposed nerves.

Then, it was done.

Or: Derek gets magical amnesia as part of a pact with a dark creature, and Stiles can save him by way of Once Upon a Time rules.

This fic is such an interesting mixture of funny and heartbreakingly angsty. Told mostly from the perspective of an amnesiac Derek who thinks he’s a carefree Floridian working in a surf shop, whose life turns on his head when a stranger named Stiles shows up looking for a missing person.

I’m going to tag: @paintedlandscape @mad-madam-m @matildajones @dontgobrienmyheart @petals42 @literaryoblivion @rocketshipposey to contribute if you like, along with everyone else who can think of fics that deserve some more love and attention.

~Part 1~ Avengers x Fem!Reader series: The Life of an Avenger

Summary: (Y/N) was a Hydra experiment whose parents and beloved brother were assassinated by a Hydra group (there are still a few more details to be given a bit later, so stay tuned). She has the gift of ice magic through Hydra experimentation due to her rare cardiac cancer. She’s an asshole if someone is an asshole to her, but treat her right, and she’s the best friend anyone could ask for (ask Tony who is her “person”). She is currently dating Steve who is head over heels in love with her, just as much as she is with him. (Y/N), with a tongue like a whip and a “live in the moment” attitude, is hardcore, yet respects the little things in life. She is well traveled after her experience in Hydra (even before as her family moved country to country when she was a child). She considers her homelands The United States and Italy. The whole team adores her. The way she sings, dances, speaks, laughs, listens, everything. However, she’s not perfect. She is stubborn beyond belief, curious to the point of danger, terrified to be weak in front of people (although she did tell Tony a bit about her past, and basically everything to Steve) so she will never admit if she’s hurt, turns to blind rage against any and all members of Hydra, and speaks her mind even when she shouldn’t. A wild, rebel at heart, she now descends into “Thor: The Dark World.” Welcome to Asgard.

~Part 2~ Avengers x Fem!Reader series: The Life of an Avenger

Summary: Part 2 was full of…many, many things. (Y/N) traveled with Thor to Asgard where she met Loki once again and her tongue was on fire (as it was 90% of her life). She held nothing back against the asshole who tried to control her planet…until he started to speak about his own non-father that struck a chord with (Y/N). She followed his directions which led her to the Cave of Time. This brought her to the moment Bucky Barnes fell off of Zola’s train. This was one of her biggest regrets because Bucky (or as she called him, Brooks) was her cell neighbor for two of (Y/N)’s almost five years held captive in Hydra. She wasn’t able to save Bucky, but once she got back to her correct time in Asgard, she went back to Thor and helped convince him to trust Loki in order to take down Malekith (which worked out halfway well). He took her advice while she went back to Earth and helped her boyfriend (sorry, that word is too weak), Steve Rogers, the love of her life. Cliche? They’d been through too much for anything less. She remembered and admitted to Steve, Natasha, and Sam of her connection to The Winter Soldier which turned out to be Bucky. While attacking the Hydra agents who infiltrated Hydra, she had helplessly watched Steve fall to his death. It was one of the most horrifying moments of her entire life (and she’s had some pretty gruesome ones). A week later, after Steve had been fully cleared and taken care of, she called Tony who asked her to help him take down Killian in Miami, Florida. And, of course, for her best friend, she agreed to help. During the fight at the docks, (Y/N) and Pepper fell into a pit of fire where Extremis saved Pepper and (Y/N)’s ice powers helped her survive. However, in the fire, (Y/N) came face-to-face with another shadow that hissed at her to give up her heart to it (doesn’t make sense yet? The answer will come soon). This brought her memory back to her battle with Thor’s warriors up in Muspelheim where two other apparitions had attacked her, asking with gruesome malignancy, the same question. But what did it mean? After she survived the fire, her and Pepper kicked Killian’s ass right in front of a useless Tony who sat in stunned awe at his two favorite people (besides himself). During his moment with Pepper that (Y/N) had allowed them, Tony decided to blow up his suits for a “clean slate” with Pepper. Big. Useless (because he will still use the suits again). Mistake. (Y/N) hopped off of the crate she had been sitting on, staring dreamily into the stars, and after plenty of procrastination (because weakness is not something she ever wanted to show anyone) she stated nonchalantly, “I’m having a heart attack.” Tony and Pepper freaked out, of course. But (Y/N) had dealt with the problems millions of times due to her cardiac cancer. When herself and Tony arrived at the hospital (like literally, they were just outside the hospital), (Y/N)’s heart stopped. Tony desperately performed CPR on her as she was wheeled in for surgery. After she had survived a tedious surgery, she admitted her past to the team. Everything. Her family (mom and brother) had been assassinated by Hydra in a hit ordered by her very own father who had faked his death for some unknown reason by (Y/N). After, her entire family was dead, (Y/N) was sold by her father to Hydra for her cardiac cancer which they had been searching for a candidate, and (Y/N) fit the mold perfectly. They forced her into seventy-two surgeries that led to her having ice powers, quickened healing capabilities, and Captain America speed. They never went full-out due to their fear of her, until they could fully control her. This is what Bucky had saved (Y/N) from when he helped her escape. Unfortunately, he was not so lucky, which is why Steve and (Y/N) decided to go after and find him. They will not give up on Bucky. Nobody kills James Buchanan Barnes.

Personality: (Y/N) is a little spit-fire with an attitude that won’t quit. She’s strong and terrifyingly fierce in battles, yet with her team…she’s still sarcastic as all hell and loves to get drunk, so obviously her and Tony are as close as Joey and Chandler from FRIENDS, or they’ve also been compared to Meredith and Christina from Grey’s Anatomy. “Steve’s the love of my life, and Tony is my person,” (Y/N) had said and Tony couldn’t agree more. All of the Avengers are extremely close with her. They are enamored by her adorable love of the small things in life, her beautifully innocent curiosity, carefree attitude (despite what had happened to her), amazing strength in battle (as Thor called her the “fearsome warrior” to introduce her to his friends). She’s determined, kicks ass, and stubborn as hell. A cold heart to her enemies, but a warm soul for her friends. The lucky ones are the few she decides to truly trust. The world is her oyster, as she had traveled mostly everywhere and done some things just as crazy as herself. Her team is extremely protective over her just as much as she is over them. But what would happen if something disrupted that? Has Tony finally gone over the deep-end?

~Part 3~ Avengers x Fem!Reader series: The Life of an Avenger

Summary: Tony had finally reached his breaking point after his parent’s dying, himself being kidnapped, tortured, constantly living with shrapnel in his chest, learning that his weapons were being used for terrorism, fighting aliens, almost being lost in space, almost losing Pepper a good five times, finding out (Y/N), his absolute best friend, had cancer, her almost dying, then finally watching his friends die in an extra special vision from Wanda. If you think you’re life is fucked up… So, he built Ultron who threatened the Avengers lives, then the world with complete destruction. What a stand up guy. (Y/N) with her team, her ice magic, and her sharp tongue took down the bastard in a Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles battle that nobody would soon forget…not even if they tried. After Vision had lifted from his coffin, he related what Thor had always suspected of (Y/N): she had a piece of the Orb, The Power Stone, lodged in her heart, placed there by Hydra to spur on her ice magic. The only reason this worked was due to (Y/N)’s rare cardiac cancer. (Y/N) had been attacked for years by Hydra and other aliens for her involuntary gift, but she was too strong. Nobody would ever be able to kill or control the fiercely stunning girl who’s sarcasm itself, could kill a man. Never again (and yes, she has died before. Like a zombie, she’s not actually dead, so yay). Wanda lost her brother, Pietro, in the war which sent her, obviously, in a downward spiral of depression, but (Y/N) knew how to help her because she had also lost her brother years before to her own father. Steve and (Y/N) welcomed Wanda into their apartment where they all lived quite happily despite their far and recent pasts. Now, Steve, (Y/N), Wanda, Nat, Sam, Rhodey, and Vision are the new Avengers. And this is where the story continues.
