Hi. I love your blog! It has inspired me so much lately that I've been writing more than usually. I'm so sorry to bother you but do you have any prompts/ideas for a story set in ancient times, such as ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece etc. I love ancient times but I'm out of ideas on what the story should be on. Thank you so much and keep inspiring everyone ❤

Thank you so much for all the compliments! I hope that these can help you!

1) “They say that you’re the high priestess around here. That you handle all the sacrifices.”

“Is that why you’re here? To see if you could apply? If so, you’re going to be greatly disappointed, my dear,” the priestess let out a breathy laugh, and learned forwards. “Plain ones need not apply.”

“Your cronies took my sister.”

“My cronies took a woman who was widely renowned for her beauty. A fine sacrifice.”

2) “I have slept for millions of years, mortal, and yet, you awoke me. How?“

The mortal squirmed in their seat as the god stared at them, their expression unreadable. He had learnt years ago that gods were dangerous, that speaking to one was speaking to a force of mass destruction, and that even the smallest mistake could kill you.

He wished now that he hadn’t dismissed those instructions as fantasy.

3) “Come into the light.”

“You are mortal. I am not. My form is a lot more horrific than yours, at least by your society’s standards.”

“I don’t care.”

“Perhaps you should.”

4) “Hello? Is anyone here?”

Medusa left her seat immediately to meet the intruder, a young woman with a strange tendency to bump into things, and with eyes that looked similar to hers.

“Please, I need help. I- I can’t see.”

So they couldn’t be turned into a statue then.

“I am here.” By Zeus, she felt sure that she would regret this later. “You need not worry anymore.”

5) “Oh mighty Oracle, can you answer my question?”

The Oracle smiled and took the man’s hand, looking over it carefully. “What do you wish to know?”

“If it’s true that you are a fraud, Mi'lady.”

Well. Her smile didn’t falter, but instead froze. “You shouldn’t listen to such rumours. I am blessed by the mighty Apollo, and doubting me is doubting him.”

The man grinned. “I knew it. I knew it!”

6) “Viking. How wonderful.”

The Saxon woman held up her broom, pointing in such a way that he would have laughed, if it weren’t for the blood staining her side.

“Coward, actually. Ran. Need some help?”

He only got a small grunt in reply.

Congrats to @markiplier and the community for getting the channel to 17 million subscribers!

I’ve been a part of this community for nearly two years now, and it’s certainly been a wild ride. I’ve had my ups and downs in my life in that timeframe, but all of the amazing people here have helped me through my darkest moments. Mark’s been such a huge inspiration to me, and him and his videos never fail to make me smile every day. Mark, keep doing what you do, because you’ve changed countless lives in more ways than one, including my own. You’ve brought so much happiness to millions of people out there in the world, and that’s amazing, and I respect you so much for that.

@markiplier

I want to thank you for being such a big source of inspiration for me. I remember finding your channel back in 2012 by accident when I was looking for Amnesia compilations. I think you barely had 5k subs at the time? I don’t think you even had a webcam yet actually. I remember watching a vlog where you said that you wanted to upload videos everyday. You sounded committed and passionate about it. I’m someone who’s draws inspiration from passionate individuals and I thought to myself, “Alright, I’ll keep watching if you show me that you’re truly dedicated to this.”

You kept at it. I could see you were truly driven about making videos and I was curious to see where you were headed. Even today, I’m looking forward to watching what you do. Yes, I still watch your videos, though I’m more selective on which ones to watch. You still make me laugh and bring a smile to my face when days are rough.

The whole Darkiplier thing has been a weird and wondrous adventure with many ups and downs. Fun fact, I nearly scrapped him entirely because I got frustrated with the idea and I was unsure of where to go with the character. I took a long break from drawing him and my best friend @prismkitten-mivy has helped me rebuild his story. I have more plans for projects involving him in the near future and I’m ecstatic to share those ideas with the community.

I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to be apart of this charity. I’m still in shock over how many items have been sold and how much has been raised. Your community can do a lot of good when it comes together for these events. Thank you, for being a passionate and driven individual that inspires creative people such as myself. You’re a wonderful person Mark, and I can’t wait to see where you go from here.

@therealjacksepticeye Seán, thru out the years of watching your channel and brightening my days I found sometime special. Your passion and spark to be more positive has helped me find what I now love to do. Sure, some say it’s a bit silly to draw so much inspiration from someone yelling into a camera however to me it means the world. I would have never picked up video editing if it were not for you and the friends you have made on YouTube. Thank you so much for making the world a better place even if it is on a small scale. One smile, one laugh can make a world of difference, and it sure made a difference in me.

Assistance…

[Ah it has been a long time again since I was able to draw, my skills have gotten out of practice, i think. I hope I will be able to work on it more and improve a little. Ah but until I am able to, please enjoy this simple drawing! It is inspired by the scene in Road to Boruto where Sasuke helps Sakura home after she injures her back sparring with Sarada and Boruto. Ah it was a cute moment, right? I am happy they had this moment in the new DLC. Ah anyway, please have a good day/evening and take care! ー( ´ ▽ ` )ノ ]

(1) Hi Viria, I hope you are well :) I am sorry to bother you with this, but it's really important for me, and I wanted to share it with you. It'll be long and kinda sad at first, but it gets better, trust me. I'm a 23 y/o latina art student. When I was a baby, my mom left my dad and remarried, and my little sister was born when I was 10. She is the light of my life and I love her to no end. Our mom, however, had had and undiagnosed and untreated mental illness for years, and one day

(2) during a severe crisis she hurt us really bad. I was 12. She was taken away to a psychiatric hospital and Child Services prohibited her from ever getting near us again. Since then, I have been taking care of my little sister and practically raised her while my stepdad worked 2-3 shifts to afford our education and payment for my mom’s hospital, living and meds. He was always working and I took full responsibility for my sis. As you can imagine, even though I loved her with my life,

 (3) the situation was very stressful and exhausting for me. By the time I was 15, I looked every bit a teen mom. One particularly hard night when my little sis had been crying about mom, I couldn’t sleep. So I turned to something that calmed me: the Harry Potter books. I read them online, and somehow ended up searching for HP fanart. That was the night I stumbled upon your DA account. And boy, did I love it! I know back in 2011 your skills weren’t what they are now,

(4) but I was blown away, and what’s more, I felt inspired to draw. I had never tried to make any art before; it wasn’t “my thing”. But that night, you inspired me. As time went by I kept drawing and closely followed your improvements. Your art was so relaxing, calming, and inspiring, that it really helped me during hard times. You kinda dragged me into all the cool fandoms, series and animes, and I found life to be far more bearable with so many awesome things to love and think about.

(5) Your DA and Tumblr were some sort of safe sapce for me. It always cheered me up and gave me joy, peace, inspiration. When the time came, I choose to study Art at college. It turned out you did too, and you kept up all the good stuff in your blogs. Weirdly enough, I kept feeling a sense of pride whenever you improved and got better. I was so strange that you were so so far away and didn’t even know I existed but you helped me so much.

(6) I got accepted at my country’s top University to study Fine Arts; I moved cities and took my sister with me; she grew into a wonderful, sensible, peaceful child, and her presence motivated me to be the best version of myself, while your art motivated me to keep expanding my academic/artistic abilities. Life was hard but good at college, and I had incredible opportunities. I am graduating this spring with an advanced studies specialization, and was recently hired to work at

(7) of a movie. It’s like living a dream. And tonight, just a couple hours ago, the most incredible thing happened. After dinner, my little sis came to me, phone in hand, and said “Hey Ana, you won’t believe what I found. There’s this girl who makes amazing art of all the fandoms you’re in. Her drawings are gorgeous and she has so many!”. She showed me your tumblr. I wanted to laugh and cry. She was amazed when she saw your old drawings and your current ones; speechless.

(8) She fell in love, and you know what? Immediatly after, she went to draw. She’s been doing so the past hours. I know this was offensively long, but Viria, I needed to thank you for what you did. Your art has always been SO much more than just digital drawings of fictional characters. It’s been the source of peace, safety and joy that so many of us crave. You have wonderfully impacted and influenced many people across the world with everything you make.

(9) I am so glad you exist and do what you do; you gave me the hobby that grew into my passion, thaught me so much, inspired me beyond belief and most of all, you helped make life more bearable. And now, you have made the same for my sister. Viria, the world wouldn’t be the same without you. You are truly a magnificent light among us, and for your existence and passion I’ll be forever grateful. Thank you, and may you always live the beautiful, happy, awesome life you deserve. Thank you.

I’m not even kidding I was sitting here peacefully chewing sandwich and by the end of these messages the sandwich was too salty so was my cappuccino I swear you got me to tears and now i’m just like

I’m a shaking emotional leaf but thank you so much for writing me! It means so much and i’m so touched and i just wish you and your sister all the best of luck, though it seems like you don’t really need it. Thank you, and I hope life goes wonderfully for you and your family!

How to deal with losing interest in your language class:

As a student in a higher-level French and who is self-studying two other languages, I know for a fact that taking a foreign language can get stressful and overwhelming. To learn a ton of grammar, humongous amounts of vocab, and to know how a mind in another culture works, it can get super hard sometimes. All that stuff that goes into learning a foreign language can make it super easy to get burnt-out. And we’ve all done it. Trust me. But, it’s okay, my dude. We’ve all been there. It sucks, but you’ll get over it. Here are some tips how:

i. take your time

Listen, my dudes, it can be so difficult to learn a foreign language and you should already be proud of yourself for doing so!! Even in a fast-paced class, you should take it slow and make sure you don’t beat yourself over not getting it in perfect time. Language takes practice, and sometimes we don’t get it as fast as we want it. it’s okay.

ii. ask questions/talk to the professor

Are you totally lost? Tell someone. It could be a classmate, a native speaker you’ve befriended, or your instructor. Either way, I highly recommend you talk to someone if you’re stuck on a specific concept or feel unmotivated. You sometimes need a boost from a study buddy in your target language.

iii. remember why you’re studying

My go-to method for when I’m having a bad day in French or I’m just not getting something is simple. I simply ask myself: “Why am I doing this?” No reason is not good enough for choosing to learn a specific language. Learning languages has its benefits and even if you just like the sound of it is reason enough to learn it! Trust me, I have no incentive for learning my target language. But I love it, and I refuse to give it up when it gets difficult.

iv. study on your own

To be honest, this is super super important anyway. You absolutely NEED to practice a language on your own, whether you feel like it or not. Without some practice, you’re going to feel completely lost in class sometimes. You can have fun with this too: take this time to familiarize yourself with the culture more. Personally, it’s always helpful to watch movies in French or listen to music in Spanish. I learn to enjoy my target language more and to have fun with it!

v. take a break

We all get unmotivated sometimes. Yeah, language learning takes a lot of work, but sometimes it helps to take a step back and refresh a little. Focus on other schoolwork or maybe find something new to occupy your time. Being burnt out on learning a language sucks, I know, but sometimes it’s best to ride the wave a little bit.

Fierce ladies.

Due to recent events, I lost a ton of inspiration and motivation. Thankfully, working on commissions and this fun series helped me get centered again and ready for whatever may come in the new week. Also, for anyone wondering, Barbara’s suit is based on the Young Justice one. SEASON 3 IS COMIIIING

This mostly wraps up the main set, but I maaaay have got some more on the way…

What is Lucid Dreaming?

Lucid dreaming is when you are in a dream but fully aware that you are in a dream, leading to you often being able to control the outcomes or certain aspects of the dream. You are able to live your fantasies and also are more likely to remember your dreams come morning.

With work Lucid dreaming can be improved into astral projection via sleep or dream walking where you can exit your dreams to enter the dreams of others or walk about the “dream plane”. Skilled lucid dreamers also often use their dreams for divination and problem solving due to how vivid they are and how it is easier to remember them.

Herbs for Lucid Dreaming: African Dream Bean, Blue Lotus, *Datura, *Mexican Dream Herb, Lavender, Mugwort, Rose Buds, Valerian Root, Wild Asparagus

Crystals for Lucid Dreaming: Albite, Angel Phantom Quartz, Danburite, Herkimer Diamond, Lazulite, Moonstone, Rhodonite, Scolecite

Foods for Lucid Dreaming: Almonds, Bananas, Cherries, Chicken, Kidney Beans, Lamb, Oats/Oatmeal, Pumpkin/Pumpkin Seeds, Rice, Soybeans and Tofu, Sunflower Seeds, Tomatoes, Turkey

Essential Oils for Lucid Dreaming: Lavender, Mugwort, Patchouli, Rose

Other things to achieve Lucid Dreaming:

  • Keep a dream journal and write in it regularly.
  • Interpret the meanings behind your dreams after recording them
  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoking cigarettes before bed
  • Keep a regular sleeping schedule
  • Sleep in complete darkness if possible
  • Meditate before going to sleep
  • Openly state before you go to bed “I will lucid dream tonight” and repeat this either out-loud or in your mind as you get ready for bed. When you lay in bed continue focused on that in your mind
  • Along with that before bed tell yourself, preferably in a mirror if it helps, that you will remember your dreams come morning
  • Do “reality checks” meaning in your dream check to see if you are dreaming. If you see mirrors, see if you can see the background behind you or if it is misty/blurry. If see a clock look at it, look away, then look back, often in dreams the time will change. This is the same for signs and street signs. You can also before going to bed mark up your hand with ink and in your dream look down and see if it is there still. If its not you know you’re dreaming. Look down at your feet, often in dreams they will seem oddly unfocused. If you see a bookshelf, see if any of the book titles are visible or repeat.

Okay, I know I am dreaming, now what do I do?

Well now you practice. It is rare to immediately be able to control your dreams completely. To gain full control you need to practice. Start small and take baby steps. Try hopping in place in your dream, see if you can make yourself hover for even just a second. Keep at it, try to float in place longer and longer with each jump. In time and with practice and patience you will be able to soar through your dreams one night and it’s easy from there. If you come across a locked door try opening it while saying out loud “this door is unlocked”. Keep at it, because hopefully you will be able to open it soon enough.

Start talking to the ‘characters’ in your dreams. Try to influence their behavior such as suggesting they do something. You can also approach a ‘stranger’ in your dream and see what happens if you state that you two are friends. If they start acting as if they know you and are indeed your friend, you know you have improved your control.

Take notes in your dream journal on these tests. Write down if they failed or succeeded and keep at it. With time you will be able to change things in your dreams with ease.

The Positives of Lucid Dreaming:

  • You can control your dreams! That is just awesome, you can live out things you can’t do in real life.
  • Prevent or stop nightmares, when you are lucid dreaming you can just tell whatever is causing you the nightmare to ‘fuck off’ and usually they will. Nightmares can be quickly changed into enjoyable dreams
  • From my personal experience and experiences of others, after a lucid dream you feel more awake and alive come morning, it’s almost energizing to wake up from
  • Its calming, I can relieve my stresses from the day and not worry about them in my dreams
  • You can attempt to solve your real life struggles in your dreams or making plans
  • Eventually you can work your way to Astral Travel and Dream Walking
  • Using your dreams for divination
  • Improve sleep, many people who lucid dream fall asleep faster and deeper than most people leading to them having improved sleep patterns and habits
  • For artists and story writers, dreams can really inspire you and help you test out your ideas
  • Deity communication, for those who do worship deities you can communicate or even interact with them in your dreams if you welcome them in.
  • Spirit and entity communication, just like deities lucid dreamers can interact with entities in their dreams by letting them in. Many lucid dreamers interact with their guides and guardians through dreams as well

Happy Dreaming everyone~

Fishing: digital painting walkthrough

So I got a question on anon asking me about my drawing coloring process, and unfortunately I accidentally deleted it, because I have clumsy fingers on mobile.

Thank you so much for your interest, I’m really honored! I will try and give a brief overview of my drawing process, and hope this is helpful or useful to you! I just started experimenting with Photoshop last summer around July, so I’m definitely not the most experienced, I’m still learning a lot!

I’m going to be using this drawing of Lapis, because it’s one of my favorite pieces and it is more detailed than my average drawing:

This drawing was inspired by the episode “Alone At Sea”, where I wanted to illustrate this concept:

This was my main reference, but I also throughout, used a lot of google images of water and colorful fish.

Sketch: My canvas size was 3000 px wide and 2000 px high. I tend to sketch with the standard brushes and I actually have like 2 layers of sketches (one for basic shapes/sizes of things, then one for rough details and things).

Lineart + base coloring: I add lineart, usually px size 6-8, with the pencil brush. I then add base colors, using the default solid brush. Usually they are the generic color I’m going for. I try not to get too stressed about the base colors because I usually cover most of them up.

Primary highlights/light sources: It gets more interesting once you establish primary light sources, so where the main light source is coming from, as well as reflections of things. I use a larger brush and add these on new layers, set to either overlay or screen or pin light. So I wanted light to be shining through the water, making the color reflect on Lapis, which is how it works with real light.

Detail/color: I think this is the most fun part, where you choose colors to paint over. I think I painted this the way I normally use watercolor, which is combining a lot of complimentary and contrasting colors with varying amounts of saturation. It’s more complicated to explain that, but it’s a lot of eyeballing. For example, referring to the reddish colors, I tried spreading them around the drawing instead of having them just in one place. The reddish fish reflects around the water bubble, and the light is reflected on Lapis’s clothing as well.

Highlights: This makes your drawing really stand out - often at this stage, many layers are on ‘luminosity’, ‘screen’ or ‘overlay’. I also do this with the lineart layer as well, so there are not just harsh black lines, which can be distracting. There are also secondary light sources, such as at the back of Lapis’s head, because I felt like there was still not enough red-orange in the drawing.

Small white lines also make a big difference (such as those on the bubble, and on the edges of her jacket/in her hair).

I later went and adjusted the color balance a bit, as well as increased the contrast so some more areas would appear darker and it was a bit less green in color.

That is kind of the overview! I hope this was helpful at all, or at least interesting! If you have any more questions I would be happy to answer, I enjoy rambling. Sorry if this was a bit long!

Thank you so much for taking an interest!

HOW TO TEACH YOURSELF LANGUAGES SUPER EFFICIENTLY

I write this bcz I’m a huge language enthusiast and I’m frustrated about the way most methods and language classes/courses approach the process of learning. I’m not a professional but I have a lot of experience in studying foreign languages: I have taught myself Lithuanian and reached the upper intermediate level (B2) in 4-5 years without much help from others, and in Spanish reaching the same level took me only 2 years bcz I simultaneously studied it at school and already knowing French helped me a little. I want to help everyone who wants to start a new language, does not have the possibility to join a language course or just feels frustrated of the stagnation they might experience in the early phase of learning a foreign language.

So, if you want to learn a new language, I suggest following tips:

• Immerse yourself from the beginning! This is really important so that you can get yourself familiar with the intonation and pronunciation of the language. Listen to radio or tv and try to read whatever you can (ingredient lists from the food packages, newspaper articles, whatever!) it doesn’t matter if you can’t understand much yet, it will come! If you start a language with a new alphabet learn the alphabet really well first thing.

• Get an overview of the grammatical structure of the language! This is often not properly done in language courses where you learn some vocabulary and greetings but after 60 pages of the textbook you still have no idea how many verb tenses or noun cases the language has. Take a look even at the “hardest” topics, bcz they might not be that hard after all. (for example the Spanish equivalent of past perfect is much easier than the present tense)

 • With that being said, learn to recognise past tenses even when you are still learning the present tense! I find it absurd that most courses expect you to master present tense _perfectly_ before even taking a look at other tenses. Most of the time, in everyday communication, past tenses are used more frequently than the present tense + in some languages mastering the past tense can also help you to form the conditional. So, learn the past tense earlier than most ppl would recommend!

 • In general, study the easiest things first! If you find something particularly difficult you gain more confidence and knowledge if you first focus on what you find more interesting (however, you can’t postpone studying boring topics eternally, especially if you are preparing or hoping to prepare for an exam at some point) In Lithuanian, I taught myself a lot of grammar before learning how to tell the time… and it was ok.

• For material: usually the country’s universities have a reading list on their website which proposes what books one could use to study the language. These are often preferable to handbooks aimed for tourists and some language methods for beginners because those mostly focus on useless vocabulary you might only need when you rent a car or book a room in a hotel. The grammar is often also relatively poorly explained in those “tourist language books”, whereas books that are aimed at immigrants or university students usually focus more on the efficient language acquisition and are written by professors and specialists. If you are persistent enough and google all possible search words in both English and the target language,  you can probably find whole textbooks in PDF format, which you can then save on your laptop.

• Don’t get stuck on vocabulary! Remember that grammar is the skeleton of the language and that vocabulary is the muscles hair and eventually the clothes you use to dress up and embellish your apperance. Vocabulary is useful once you know how to use it. For me, learning vocab is the hardest part of a new language, especially bcz I like starting languages that are not really similar to any other languages I know (consider Lithuanian and Greek when I previously knew Finnish, English, French and Spanish) ofc you need to learn some of it to be able to form sentences but most traditional methods focus on that too much. My suggestion is to read a lot: start by children’s books and comics and gradually get more advanced material. When you read them, make notes!! Look up the words you don’t know and don’t be afraid of using unconventional, seemingly challenging ways to learn, such as buying a bilingual poetry collection and trying to decipher what the original poem says and compare it to the translation. 100% recommend, even for the beginner level + it’s a nice way to connect to the culture but still focus on the language itself, not on the way ppl make breakfast in that country. (That’s something that irritates me a lot in most Youtube’s language videos where ppl are just discussing the traditions of the country in English when you had come there to look for the explanation of grammatical structures or just to hear the language being spoken. smh.)

• A really important thing about vocabulary is to learn all the abstract words, such as conjunctions, really soon! For example, if you find yourself in a situation where you have to use the words therefore and otherwise,  it is almost impossible to try to explain those words without first translating them to another language.

• Make vocabulary learning more interesting and deep by learning about the etymology of the words you learn. It can be mind-blowing and it helps you to remember the words better.

That’s it!

I hope these tips inspire you in pursuing your interest in foreign languages and facilitate your learning process. I might add more to this if I remember I have forgotten something of great importance.

“All Grown Up!”
Collab with @TheRaikume (from Twitter)

A little adventure in character design for this week’s newest squiggle art as part of an awesome collab with @TheRaikume from Twitter. Drawing adult versions of our Miraculous heroes. Rai will be drawing Chloe and Marinette while I handled Alya and Adrien; my two favs. Yes!

We were originally supposed to draw them in casual wear but little ole me got swept away in this cool headcanon of mine. Now we all know from the series that Alya plans on becoming a reporter when she grows up. But the interesting thing is we don’t know what Adrien plans to do with his life once he’s older. Right now he’s so focused on keeping dear ole dad happy by being a model that I don’t think he’s ever considered what he really wants to do once he’s become an adult (I mean besides become Ladybug’s one and only devoted lover of course).

That being said, good thing for headcanons and fan theories right? My idea is that Adrien turns to a life of sleuthing and becomes a criminal investigator when he gets older. I found it really interesting that he was more eager to assume the call for heroism than Marinette so this makes me think that maybe all those years of being Chat Noir and defending Paris alongside Ladybug and all the other Miraculous heroes would ultimately inspire Adrien to become a crime fighter in his civilian life as well hence the criminal investigator title.

I also have this idea of Adrien and Alya teaming up from time to time and helping each other out with their individual careers. Of course by this time, they’re also happily married to their respective partners: Adrien ending up with Marinette (naturally of course) and Alya with Nino. It wouldn’t be a perfect grown up Miraculous heroes headcanon without it, am I right folks? ;)

Overall I had fun designing the looks for grown up Adrien and Alya. While Alya’s design is my favourite of the two (again, naturally of course), I must say that I’m most proud of Adrien’s design. I based his facial features off a another fan theory I shared last year where Adrien will look a lot more like his dad Gabriel as he matured; ultimately inheriting his nice high cheek bones.

Alrighty! My half of the collab is officially complete. As I mentioned before, @TheRaikume will be working on her designs for Adult Chloe and Marinette. Definitely looking forward to seeing those once they’re complete. As always, I hope everyone will enjoy this week’s newest Miraculous squiggle art.

Ethan hit 300,000 subscribers!!

Ethan hit 300,000 subscribers! That’s a whole lot of amazing people in this amaizng community!

I am so incredibly proud of him, and I know everyone in this tag are too! I subscribed when the channel was around 40,000 (I just changed it because I went back and found the 50,000 video and it was posted after I subscribed oops). Which isn’t that long but still crazy because he’s already at 300,000.

Not only have I found an incredible inspiration, I also found more friends than I expected through this community. I met 2 from Nova Scotia, one from Minnesota, and a few others. Everyone in the community is so nice and sweet.

Ethan is one of the most helpful “escape routes” I have. He’s such an amazing person, and he always brings my mood up.

If Ethan happens to see this than I should say some stuff to him aha.

So, Ethan, congratulations on 300,000 subscribers, you definitely deserve it! You bring joy to so many people (me being one of them) and you should definitely keep doing what you’re doing. When you’re happy, it makes us happy. As long as you enjoy what you’re doing and you’re happy with it, don’t stop. Keep that beautiful smile on your face. Keep that adorable laughter flowing. Keep doing what you love.(I suck at being original but) like that painting I painted in that picture, you are my sunshine (and the reason I made butterscotch-cinnamon pie)I love you, we all love you. Thank you for everything you’ve done.

I just wanted to do a little shout-out to @euclase for being an inspiration to me as an artist and a person; I’ve been following them since I was in my mid-teens on Deviantart, and would try to study their techniques to get better at Photoshop painting. Their finished paintings always seemed like they were made with the help of magic but when you learn that it’s 100% practice and discipline and love for the craft then it’s so, so much more impressive than magic could ever be.

And today, though I’ve graduated uni and my art styles have vastly changed, I still learn things from them. Not only things like colour pallets and image referencing and lighting studies, but things like agency. Having control over the way you interpret characters and paint them and reclaim them. Drawing for yourself and the power that gives you. Awareness of gender/racism/sexism in media and fandom and the art world. The importance of analysing one’s own behaviour and challenging the way the world is. That spreading kindness and supporting peers is so important in a world where hate is so readily available.

I often walk past a gallery in the city that has Marvel and Star Wars art on display in the windows, and it’s branded as quality, up-market artwork, “real” paintings worthy of galleries. It’s fan art. And I think of Euclase, because what they do is just as valid, and it’s beautiful and full of power because they put their time and love into something that they personally wanted to look at. It makes me feel brave about still producing my own fan art even after all this time, because that’s ultimately what makes me happy. I’m getting better at standing up for myself as an artist, and defending fandom, validity of women’s art, and the right of people to choose what they want to draw.

Thank you, Euclase.
