i have no idea how this pairing ended up as one of my otps

the worst thing about trying to decide to read a fic:

-horrible writing.

-the summary is good but the story is written in a different language or is badly written.

-opening it to find no spaces between the paragraphs.

-both your otp and notp is tagged and you have no clue if you want to take a risk or not.

-tagged major character death and you start sweating.

-hasn’t been updated in 80 years but the summary is on point and their the best fucking writer ever.

-you start reading only to find that the person updates every ten years and you just happened to catch them on a day they finally updated.

-you find a writer and check them out, only to find out they mostly write about your notp - and of course they always update, have perfect writing and have stories that are epic.

-stories with so many fucking tags, you just shake your head and move on.

-the “i suck at summaries please check it out still” and you just, pause because it has your otp and you debate whether or not to take the risk.

-you find a pairing you never considered before and think holy shit, that could be hot and spend all day hunting through the tag.

-you ship a pairing so fucking hard, only to find like two fics and you start weeping.

-when you find a perfect story only to check the tags and see some weird shit that disgusts you and you scream why.

-a fic with good writing and summary but it’s so short or is only fan-art.

-a crossover fic where you have both of your fandoms but don’t have both of otps, just one.

-one shots that are so good you wish they were longer.

-when your notp is tagged but it’s labeled as a past relationship or says your otp is endgame, and you have to go through the notp’s awkward breakup in order for your otp to happen.

-when someone doesn’t tag properly and a plot twist hits you and you want to cry.

-you finally find a great fic that has been updated and the last update says writes block, personal issues- can’t do this, asks for co-writer, discontinues it or says lol i hate how this is turning out, deleting.

-when a writer as twenty stories to update and you cry because you like all of them and you have to wait.

-when you remember a story from like five years ago and you search for it, only to find it’s been deleted or can’t seem to find it anywhere.

-when a writer gives you an update schedule and you’re excited because they follow it but then they start missing it and you just…

-when a writer deletes a story and rewrites the same story but you like the original better.

-when your reading a story about a rare pairing that interests and your otp hate each other or just friends and it’s just so weird to read.

-when one half of your otp is in another relationship and the other half shows up with someone else and then you remember, right i’m not reading a story about my otp so i can’t get mad.

-when your otp is popular but it’s not as popular as another ship in the fandom and you hate how the other ship as so much more stories than your ship.

-when you try to read an ot3 relationship because it has two characters you love but the other character is usually from your notp and you hate when your notp share moments.

-when you beg an author (usually one where they aren’t in the fandom really) to write more stories about your otp and they say maybe and it never happens.

-when the writer literally shits on your favorite character and you can’t go through it anymore.

-when your otp isn’t the main pairing and you don’t really care about the other pairings in the story and skip to your otp parts.

-when a story has a million words and it’s so good and you know that you will spend all day and night reading it until your eyes hurt.

-when a story have 200 parts to it and you lose all hope after a while because the story is dragging.

-when your otp is going through something and so many stories are filled with angst, fluff and hurt that it makes you cry because yup, i need to read about my pain for my otp.

-when the writer refuses to write the smut you been waiting for and your otp is stuck in unresolved tension mode forever.

-when the writer unexpected changes the story’s events and you are disappointed by the direction.

-when you find a great au and the characters are so out of character… it makes you sad.

-when you open a fic only to find you hate the point of view and you scream.

-when you request a prompt and the author writes it but you are disappointed and just smile through the pain.

-when you have such a good idea in your head and you try to write it but it’s so bad that you delete it and cry, hoping someone else writes the brilliant idea that you had.

-when you don’t ship something anymore but see a great plot and you click the story and take a deep breath - because shit is about to go down.

-when you reading a great story but get distracted and skip some parts, shit goes down in between and then you think fuck, and have to start over.

-when it’s tagged “slow burn” and you say i can do this and it’s chapter 30 and my ship still hate each other like what.

-when the author says this is their first time writing smut and you think on god they better do this right - only to find out they writing eight pages on your otp making love. like yes.

-when the smut is so rushed or improper you feel cheated and log off because done. like so done.

-when it’s tagged “everyone lives” and your eyes water because that’s all you ever wanted in life.

-when the author leaves a cliffhanger and says in the author’s note “lol sorry about the cliffhanger, i’ll update soon”. you ain’t sorry, stop lying.

-when you see that the story is complete and do a happy dance, only to realize that it ended badly or the sequel/series hasn’t been updated.

Irony and Storytelling: Part 2 - Dany, Jonsa, and the Iron Throne

So. The previous post of this heading was my basic thesis for where I see ASOIAF / GOT heading, and gives a broader overview of my reading of this series and show as 1. deliberately structured on the basis of ironic narrative reversal and 2. deeply invested in the nature of storytelling itself. Now, in this post I want to take a look at how this might play out in terms of specific characters and story arcs - specifically here, the brewing Jon/Dany/Sansa love triangle and where each of them will end up by the finale.

My working theory: Dany will become a villain, and Jon and Sansa will marry each other.

All reasons Jon3rys will not be endgame ( Jonsa will)

@mssassypants76

Thanks for the ask! Sorry it took me so long to give you an answer! I know its been at least a week, but I did not forget you! Honestly, when I started writing this I did not expect it to end up as long as it did… I guess I just got a little too passionate about the endgame possibilities for GOT/ASOIAF.

So to actually answer your question : long story short, regardless of any romance I think Jon will betray Daenerys- Jon will be Dany’s last treason. And her death (result of the betrayal) will be fundamental in ending the long night- this is why Jon will betray her, to save everyone, including those he loves (especially Sansa) form the WW. Thus Jon will be free to end up with his love Sansa - and he will!

That was the short answer! Here is the longer answer as to why I am 100% sure why Jon/Daenerys will not be endgame, and that he will betray her during the long night. And to make it easier to follow I have divided it up into sections:

1. The Jon/Dany romance did not make any sense in the show
      a) Why Jon and Dany did not have the proper build up/execution for Jonerys to be a believable romance
      b) Comparing Jon/Dany romance to all other important romantic pairings we’ve seen develop on the show
      c) How it makes no narrative sense for Jon to “choose love over duty” and give the North to Daenerys
2.  Dany and Jon living happily ever after sitting on the Iron throne in the end makes NO NARRATIVE sense
      a) Jon/Dany “falling in love” and sitting on the iron throne together is too predictable
      b) The show (and books) have set Dany up to slowly become an antagonist by the end of the series and have slowly set up Sansa to become a queen, and Jon a king.
       c) The show (and books) have have slowly set up Sansa to become a queen, and Jon a king.
  3. And finally: JON AND DANY ARE NOT THE SONG OF ICE AND FIRE. JON is Ice AND Fire; Dany is PURE FIRE and the WW are PURE ICE

Okay! So! Let’s  Let’s start off with why the Jon/Dany romance did not make any sense:

Okay, so the first thing I am going to say, is that before being a Jonsa shipper, I am a die hard fan of Game of Thrones and the novels of ASOIAF because I believe it to be one of the most incredible, complex and intriguing series out there. And before ANYTHING else, I want the series to have an amazing well executed ending that will do the series justice, regardless if the ship I love becomes cannon or not. My true OTP is GOT/ASOIAF X Strong-Plot-Points-And-An-Ending-That-Makes-Sense.
That being said, I’m 100% sure Dany has fallen for Jon, but I’m not convinced Jon is 100% in love with Daenerys. It’s really confusing for me tbh… the only scene that Jon showed any kind of affection towards Dany IMO was in their last scene in 7x06…in the rest of their scenes they didn’t really seem to have a true connection and their chemistry was lukewarm. I’m not just saying this because I ship Jonsa, I’m open to the idea of Jonerys and I think I wouldn’t even mind seeing a romance there, just as long as it was properly executed and made sense.  Which I really don’t think it was at all! And I will explain why I don’t think the Jon/Dany romance made sense…But regardless of if Jon is in love with Dany or not, I believe the ending will be roughly the same and I will explain my thoughts on that as well in as much detail as I can without being too long lol.

a)- Why Jon and Dany did not have the proper build up/execution for Jonerys to be a believable romance

Okay, so the whole Jon3rys romance has truly failed to convince me for a number of reasons. I’m not the only one who didn’t feel the magic in their romance…  a lot of people and critics have picked up on this too. I don’t think timing or the pace of the season had anything to do with it. D&D are perfectly capable of writing a believable romance with limited amount of screen time. Just look at Robb and Tailsa, they met, fell in love and had sex in under 18 minutes of screen time and it all felt natural and convincing!

^^^ No one doubted this for a second,

The thing is, we never got to see a true bond form between Jon and Dany or honestly see any reason/justification as to why Jon would fall in love with Dany… like okay she saved his life, but that’s not a good enough reason to explain Jon suddenly falling head over heels in love with her and giving her the North!

Like in the previous episodes:
1. Dany kept refusing to help him fight the WW and save thousands of lives because of her obsession with ruling all seven kingdoms was more important to her;
2. She used her dragons to burn people alive -despite Jon stating that he is morally against this (and one of them was his best friend’s beloved brother);
3. And Jon didn’t even care to look back at her when he left dragon stone, while Jorah -the man who truly loves her-did

^^^This is what it looked like Jon was thinking

And most importantly: while Dany did open up to Jon (about her family, the dragons being her only children, etc) Jon did not open up to her about personal matters AT ALL. They do not have a basis for a true emotional connection. This is perfectly reflected in their sex scene - we never got to see them undress each other which symbolizes taking each other’s walls down and becoming physically and emotionally naked. We never even got to see their first kiss! Like their sex scene lated 20 seconds, with absolutely no buildup or first kiss but had Dany looking at Jon with heart eyes and Jon looking back at her all weird and while creepily breathing AND IT HAD A VOICEOVER THAT CREEPILY AND MONOTONELY EXPLAINED HOW THEY ARE AUNT AND NEPHEW…. This is how NOT to write a convincing romance 101. Why would the show do this to the most anticipated and arguably the most important pairing in the series?!?!! I REFUSE to believe D&D would fuck up this bad. This has to be intentional-that makes the most sense.

b)- Comparing Jon/Dany romance to all other important romantic pairings we’ve seen develop on the show

Let’s compare Jon3rys to all other loving couples on the show, shall we? In each end every one of them we got to see them open up to each other about personal matters - forming a true emotional connection- and we got to see them have their first/passionate kiss before making love. Think of all the important romances we got to see develop in GOT and how their sex scenes went down:

(Y/N) was almost out of her room when her sister’s voice stopped her, “ You’re sneaking out again?” Evie complained

The youngest daughter of the Evil Queen had a habit of always going out during the night, or at least this specific habit started even since she met a very handsome pirate.

“ Evie, I thought you were asleep,” (Y/N) sighed

“ Where are you going? It’s been months since you’re doing this, mom will find out,” Evie asked, completely ignoring her sister’s statement.

“ C'mon, Evie. I can manage this as long as you won’t tell her,” (Y/N) wishpered

“ Who are you seeing anyway?”

The younger girl rolled her eyes, she couldn’t tell Evie because her sister won’t approve of her seeing a pirate, “ I’ll tell you in the morning, I promise. ”

“ Fine, but you won’t get away easily this time, (Y/N).

(Y/N) thanked her sister, then quickly got out of the room, she made her way downstairs and to the basement where was the only door her mother always left open.

Outside the castle, a known figure dressed in red leather waited for her, ” What took you so long, princess?“ Harry asked coming closer to (Y/N).

” Evie caught me trying to get out of the room and I had some explaining to do, sorry I had to make you wait. “

” No problem, (Y/N), I’ll always wait ye,“ Harry smiled grabbing (Y/N)’s hand and dragging her through the dark alley.

The pair headed to one of their special places on the isle, there was this abandoned part in the north where no one really went and the two of them decided to claim the place as theirs.

” Now close your eyes, love. “ Harry smirked, ” Ye can trust me.“

The girl nodded, closing her eyes and guided by Harry put one foot in front of the other and made it near the shore, when she opened her eyes she saw a red blanket arranged in front of her and on top of it were fish and chips, while the only source of light were some small candles.

” This is beautiful, Harry.

“ Just like ye, love. ”

Harry guided (Y/N) to the blanket , so they both could sit down and enjoy the view. It wasn’t much, after all it was a cursed isle, but they were happy that at least they’ve found friendship, love, even in a place like that.

That was their first official date, yes, they’ve been seeing each other for almost half a year, but (Y/N) has been against the idea of her dating anyone else besides a prince, but after spending time with Harry, training with him in secret or causing mischief together, she learned that he might be the one for her.

Their night went well, Harry occasionally making jokes about the stupid things Gil did and (Y/N) making fun of different scenarios she experienced, he always ending up telling her how much she meant to him.

“ Shall we go, love?”

“ I suppose so, it’s almost sunrise,” (Y/N) smiled sadly.

“ Don’t worry love, we’ll have plenty of moments like this one in our future. ”

(Y/N) nodded, getting up with the help of Harry, he intertwined his fingers with her and dragged (Y/N) along the shore.

“ Harry, slow down!” (Y/N) laughed trying to keep her balance, but failing. She stumbled over a stone and fell down, dragging Harry along with her.

“ Aren’t ye just clumsy?” he chuckled

“ Sorry,” she smiled but shortly after (Y/N)’s smile fell when she saw how her blue dress looked now - it was all covered in dirt and ripped, “ Mother’s going to kill me, Harry,” she cried

“ Calm down, (Y/N) , let’s go to the ship and maybe you’ll find something there,” Harry said getting up.

The girl frowned, he lived on a pirate’s ship. What could she find there? (Y/N) wasn’t sure but it was her only hope left, so she wouldn’t have to go home in a dress full of mug.

-

“ There’s nothing here, Harry,” (Y/N) wishpered

“ That was the last box with Uma’s things . There are no more girl clothes. ”

(Y/N) started to walk in circles around the box. She just needed something that would keep her covered until she arrived home and hide in her bed. The girl sighed looking at her boyfriend, for a second her eyes stoped on his T-shirt. It was gray and a bit ripped, but it was better than everything she saw in Uma’s box.

“ Can I borrow your shirt?” she asked shyly

Harry rose his eyebrows in surprise, he did not expect that, but the pirate would also do anything for that girl, so he took of his red leather jacket and then his gray shirt, handing it over to (Y/N).

“ Like what ye see?” Harry teased when (Y/N)’s eyes didn’t leave his body, “ Oh shut up Harry,” the girl replied taking the shirt in her hands and turning away.

(Y/N) went behind the hammock that was Harry’s bed and changed into his shirt and a pair of pants she found around there, “ So, what do I look?” she asked him after managing to change into his clothes.

“ Even hotter than before,” he growled, grabbing another one of shirts and putting it on, “ It’s such a shame I have to take ye home now princess. ”

“ C'mon, you’ll see me again in a few hours, you know that. ”

Harry smirked, he knew (Y/N) was telling the truth, she couldn’t have her mother suspect anything, so the girl barely got any sleep lately. Not at home at least. After going back from a night spent outside with Harry, she would pretend to be asleep, then one hour later her mother would always wake her and Evie, but (Y/N) would be always the one to offer going shopping, only because she could come and sleep at Harry’s while he would be the one to find all the items she needed to get.

(Y/N) grabbed his hand and started to walk out, both being careful not to be seen, they left the docks and followed the road to the castle.

The walk was quiet, (Y/N) couldn’t do anything but to admire the sea scent that was stuck in Harry’s shirt. It was an unique smell, she totally loved.

“ Here we are, princess. Now should I wait for ye to give my clothes back ?” Harry laughed

“ Actually, can I keep it?”

Harry placed a soft kiss on her forehead, “ Anything for you, love. ”

“ See you in a few hours.

” Can’t wait.

-

(Y/N) walked on her tiptoes, not wanting to make any sound, but it was a waste of time since Evie was waiting for her anyway.

“ You know, sis, it’s not so subtle to come home with Harry’s clothes. ”

A Fated Pair (Omegaverse) by @katychan666

Series about Alpha!Alec x Omega!Magnus….

A good kind of drug by  @imjustoutofideas

After getting a minor surgery, Alec is a little bit ‘high’ from the morphine he was given as pain relief. Fluff ensues.

A Pirate’s Life For Me by @lecrit

Note: All the love you need and want between your favorite OTP, where one is a prince and the other one is a pirate. There’s a lot of angst, maybe a few tears, you can be sure of that but it’s oh so worth it, fluff and shameless innuendos.

A World Uncertain by @broodingalec

The overwhelming passage of time has been a topic of avoidance between Alec and Magnus ever since the two started dating. With their lives so fragile and unpredictable under the threat of Valentine, they have managed to leave the concept in the back of their minds for a later date, hopefully somewhere in the far future.

This method of coping is pushed even further in the wake of Sebastian, Valentine’s son and Clary’s brother, taking a new and increasingly cruel step into their lives. The threats that are piling up against them seem to be rising to nearly insurmountable heights, but under the pressure of it all, the idea of the future that would come in the aftermath of success is beginning to haunt Alec’s dreams at night just as often.

Aftermath by @battlemagnus

It used to be that Alec always fit securely inside a neat little box inside Magnus’s head. He was a Shadowhunter, yes, but he was… he was Alec. He was a protector.

August by @glambertal

“What was your first time like?”

Magnus looked up at him slowly, one eyebrow arched curiously. “Why?”

Alec shrugged as if he weren’t mortified. “Just wondering. You don’t have to answer.”

Magnus just hummed and bookmarked his page, setting the book down. “It wasn’t nearly as good as yours, if that’s what you mean.”

Bang Me Like Your Drum by hckycrzy07

Magnus Bane is a pre-med student at NYU just trying to graduate. He’s stressed enough and could do without his friends pestering him about his boyfriend. It’s not that he’s embarrassed or closeted or something. He just wants to keep his boyfriend to himself, thank you very much. Now, if he could just get his friends to understand that, his life would be a whole lot easier.

Big days and fragile nerves by @katwriting

It’s the day that Alec is supposed to become the official Head of the Institute and he is a tiny bit nervous.

“Nervous?”, Magnus said softly.
Alec let out a shaky laugh and scratched the back of his neck in a nervous gesture. “You have no idea.”
Magnus sighed. “Oh, Alexander. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.”
“Yeah, sure”, Alec scoffed, running one of his arms up Magnus’s side and cupping his cheek with his hand, “only every single shadowhunter in New York waiting for me to screw up.”

But some of us are looking at the stars by @lecrit

There aren’t many things that Alec loves as much as he loves the stars.
Most nights, he just likes to sit on his balcony and watch the eerie darkness drape over the sky and the silver glow of the moon, surrounded by the stars shaping constellations he knows by heart.

This is a special night for him and his son. The only night in the year Alec lets Max stay up after midnight, so they can watch Perseids meteor shower together on the rooftop of their building.

Alec doesn’t expect to find out they weren’t the only ones to get the idea.

But In the Morning We Rise by @alittlebriton

“Mmmkay,” Magnus sighs without opening his eyes and shifts to allow Alec more access. “You can wake up the rest of me if you want.”

Alec knows he doesn’t mean it quite the way his brain interprets it - he just means he can keep up the kissing - but his brain leaps ahead and makes him flush, his body getting warmer. But why shouldn’t he? Magnus was his boyfriend; he was naked in bed with him. He could definitely wake up the whole of Magnus if he wanted. Just because he hasn’t done it before didn’t mean it wasn’t a good idea.

Set before Episode 9 Bound By Blood - Alec wakes Magnus up in new ways.

Communication Is Key by LS_5Ever

Everything was going great for Alec and Magnus. Alec no longer cares what Maryse thinks, and apart from Jace and Izzy’s constant teasing, he couldn’t be happier. Then, all goes downhill when, after a great day, Magnus starts ignoring him. What did he do wrong? If only Magnus would tell him, he could try to make it better.

Or the one where Magnus thinks Alec is cheating on him but in reality he’s not, but Magnus doesn’t know that because the two of them don’t communicate enough.

This will only be about 5 chapters unless I feel like expanding the story a bit.

You know what? Fuck it. I’m sick of sitting passively by, listening to people ask “how do you know if you’ve never tried?” and tell me that no-one cares while you sit there with a shit-eating grin and say “this is a great debate we should do this more often”. A debate? My sexuality is a debate?! Fuck you. Telling me that I bring up great points when I’m giving you facts and you ask stupid fucking questions that I hear all the time is not a debate. It’s a chore.

And how DARE you? How dare you say to me that I need to be fixed, that I can be cured if only I could “find the right somebody”. “How do you know if you’ve never tried?” you ask me as though I haven’t tried. You assume I haven’t?

I destroyed great friendships because I tried to convince myself I had a crush on them. I tore myself apart in so many ways because I tried to tell myself that there was someone out there just for me. My life has been a living hell because I TRIED. Every goddamn fucking day, I’ve tried. And then you ask why I’m angry??

Fuck you. Of course I’m angry!! I’ve been sold this idea of love and romance and sex being the be all and end all of the universe every goddamn day of my life. Every single fucking thing I’ve watched, read, listened to - about him or about her. About how True Love saves the day. How they only live happily ever after when they’re married and riding off into the sunset staring longingly into each other’s eyes. And then I’m forced to endure sex scenes and romances that are so out of place that it jars me out of the narrative so utterly and completely while everyone else applauds and nods and agrees “Yes, they are so in love”. Then they point at a background character who hasn’t even got a goDDAMN FUCKING NAME and tell me “Look! There’s your representation! Be happy!!!” all the while writing fanfiction about that character passionately fucking another character because #OTP #loveislove

FUCK. YOU. Of course I’m going to be absolutely fucking livid! You give me representation and then take it away all in the same breath! I watch as characters who are asexual are cured of their medical condition and suddenly they are not asexual anymore! I watch as characters that have never expressed any interest in romance - who have been around 60, 70, over 100 fucking years!!! - are paired off in heterosexual relationships (as though there aren’t enough of them around). Characters who are made canonically asexual and then a couple of years later, a new writer doesn’t agree with that and rewrites the entire canon so the audience can relate to them more (as though they weren’t a fan favourite already). Characters who are made the butt of jokes, characters who are placed in the same bracket as incest, characters who we are very clearly meant to hate.

And if the canon doesn’t fuck them over, the fandom sure fucking does.

Pages and pages and pages of fanart and fanfiction all dedicated to shipping my representation with other characters, while I’m shoved aside and told “it doesn’t matter. It’s not a big deal, there’s no need to yell”.

No need to yell? And yet you’ll start entire so-called ‘fandom wars’ over Shiro/Keith and Keith/Lance? You’ll yell and get angry and start a riot when gay characters are made straight and I’m not allowed to do the same for asexual characters? How DARE you.

How very fucking dare you?

I am made to endure and put up with all this shit and then - on top of all of that - then you have the audacity to tell us we are not welcome in your safe spaces, that we don’t exist, that we’re seeking attention (because bringing attention to a sexuality is such a bad thing, right?). I have to sit and listen to you as you describe us as aliens - as emotionless, unfeeling robots. You tell us we are as far removed from human as you can get. I have been told that I’m not right, I’m broken, I’ll never be understood and nor should I be. I spent years telling myself those very same things before I even came across the word asexual, piling on depression and anxiety and loneliness. I don’t need someone who doesn’t even take the time to try to understand to tell me that I must have a medical condition or that I was sexually abused as a child or that I just need to “give it a chance”. I don’t need people telling me that “it sucks” that I’m aroace, that I’m “not normal”, or asking me what I’ll do when I’m old and have no-one to look after me. I don’t need it. I don’t.

I’m already told all this in a hundred thousand different ways every day when I walk outside and see a billboard featuring another ‘sex sells’ advert. Every day, when I watch TV and see yet another out of place romance. Every day, when I walk into a shop and a love song is playing over the speakers.

Fuck you.

“How do you know if you’ve never tried?” How do YOU know?

I’ve had people ask me “isn’t it lonely?” They ask me how I’ll ever feel fulfilled if I never experience love and when I point at my friends, they laugh and say “no, I mean romantically” as if the way I love isn’t valid. Why is romance so much more fulfilling than platonic? “It just is,” they’ll reply as though that explains everything. It doesn’t.

They tell me how love is so amazing and great and then in the next sentence moan about their significant other or cry about how heartbroken, how depressed they are because their boyfriend/girlfriend broke up with them. “I’ll never love anyone ever again, I guess that makes me asexual” they say as they chat up their next partner and I grit my teeth and smile and nod because I’ll never understand so how can I judge?

So fuck you. I’m not going to just sit here and let you tell me that my representation doesn’t matter. Not when it took me 17 years to finally find asexuality. Not when it took others far longer. And definitely not when some go their whole life feeling broken or force themselves to do things they don’t want to just to try to fit in. We exist whether you understand us or not and we need our representation too.

anonymous asked:

Is Reiji x Yui your otp? I just saw your post tags... I don't see that pairing as popular so I was wondering why you ship them??

Of course I ship them! I kind of ship Yui with all the boys in a way, but ReiYui is one of my fav ships to be honest.

And I adore the ship because Reiji, out of all the boys, does the least to change the fundamentals of Yui. He doesn’t really want her to give up on her faith and he doesn’t insult her positivity and optimism like the others (although he does comment on it). He doesn’t work to change how she feels or sees the world, and even gets slightly offended when Cordelia tries to make a mockery of Yui’s practices, despite the fact that Reiji is discomfited being in the church in the first place. And, well, that’s something the other boys never really gave her. All of them tried to change Yui in some way…Shu kept telling her to throw away her religion because he thought it was worthless, Laito did the same and tried to break her of her faith, Ayato wanted to be her faith, etc.

And another thing I really liked is how Reiji encourages the anatomy of the Heroine…Yes, he wanted her to be a decent and proper lady but he doesn’t want a mindless girl who would just obey his every order. And…that’s exactly what Beatrix was…She may have been a proper lady, but everything she did was either for Karlheinz or just to beat Cordelia…He’s actually one of the few boys that wants a strong and independent woman that lives for herself. Not for any man, not for any other being, but for herself

Notice how Beatrix is breaking due to her conflict with Cordelia? It’s clearly shown how she’s slowly losing her calm and ladylike demeanor because of her…Reiji even admits that he feels ashamed to have admired a woman who was broken so easily by someone like Cordelia.

He also encourages Yui to make her own choices, and not because Beatrix was broken, but because it will reinforce the message he so desperately needs….That Yui wants to be there. That she chose him over everyone else. And that he’s worth noticing. Reiji knows about love and how it works, it’s just that he’s given up on the idea that anyone will ever love him…I mean, think about it, he was neglected by his mother his entire life, no one’s truly shown him love and care…until Yui appeared in his life. She doesn’t love him because of his status, she doesn’t love him because he’s the second son, she doesn’t love him because he’s a vampire, she loves him because, well, he’s him

I also like the fact that Reiji does, in fact, apologize to Yui (albeit, in a Reiji fashion that didn’t include an actual apology) when he stepped out of line and attacked her. I just think that that’s very mature of him in a way. And let’s not forget the fact that he’s canonly the most “dere” (loving/romantic) out of his brothers.

And lastly, I just like the fact that Reiji never truly makes fun of Yui’s appearance. Ayato insults her chest all the time, Subaru also mentioned that she has no breasts in HDB, Shu said that he finds her body unattractive in general, Laito literally roasts her in his entire HDB CD that you can read here, etc.

So, yeah…that’s why I ship these two. I’m sorry that this kind of ended up being long but when you ask me a question like this, I will literally list all my reasons for it. I know how some people blindly portray Reiji as the bad guy in the story just because he did that to Yuma’s village in the past and literally make Shu a depressed angel that needs saving and, well, that’s just being plain ignorant to be honest. They’re both assholes. There are no good guys or bad guys in Diabolik Lovers. They’re all pretty bad in their own way. End rant.

I do not own any of the manga scans.

I'm suddenly standing at the beginning with you

For @nerdyadventures Happy birthday my friend, I’m 10 days late and I made you beta this but this is for you and for keeping up with my texts all the time and humoring me and texting me back. You’re wonderful and I can’t it to be January so we can hang out in Disneyland.

This is the start of a hopefully 3 part story. I hope you guys like it.

Piper was applying lipstick to her lips while Sally and Hazel worked on her hair but Annabeth was hardly paying attention to them, her brain kept thinking about what was about to happen… in less than an hour she would stop being Annabeth Chase and she would become Annabeth Jackson. In less than an hour, she would be marrying the love of her life. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to keep the butterflies in her belly at bay.

It had been so long since Percy had caused her butterflies but it wasn’t a bad thing, after all, they had been together for almost eight years and known each other for eleven. Percy didn’t give her butterflies anymore but he gave her a feeling of safety, love, home, happiness and that was better than any butterfly. She felt weirdly calm, she never thought this was how she would be feeling moments away from her wedding, like any bride she had her bridezilla moments but they didn’t last long, not when they usually ended in Percy’s arms, his voice soothing the stress away, joking how they could elope in any moment, how the only thing that matters was their love.

“You look beautiful, honey.” Sally’s voice brought her back from her thoughts, her future mother-in-law had tears in her eyes. Annabeth looked at her reflection in the mirror, two beautiful braids worked as a headband and they ended in a messy bun with small white flowers braided into it, Piper had given her a beautiful but minimal makeover, hints of gold framed her eyelids, her lips had a peachy color on them and her cheeks were covered in light pinks and she looked, well, she looked like the blushing bride she wasn’t. “But you are missing something.”

Although it’s entirely two different stories....but

It’s both written by Nakamura-sensei. Like I said on my previous post, I’m starting to really think Cherry Blossom, is like a representation of their love or something and it feels like Nakamura-sensei really like to highlight this in both stories on two different pairings,

From Hybrid Child:

To Sekaiichi Hatsukoi:

Ritsu said the first time he fell in love with Takano/had a crush on him was around the time when the Sakura Trees were in full bloom:

That’s why when Ritsu sees the Sakura Trees, it’s hard for him to forget:

Because he is reminded of Takano every time, he is being reminded of his strong love for him.

^ Omg, Ritsu, I know how much you love Takano, but please tell Takano one day too because he really needs this confession on his end. I’m sure Takano’s love for you isn’t any less than your love for him *cries*

For me, I find this to be really sweet here, how Ritsu said (in his mind) that how it’d be great to walk through that together:

And Takano, was the one who took Ritsu to that path even though it was to sober him up but it all comes back to them being able to walk through that “path” to see the Sakura together, even though it took them 10 (long) years to be able to do that.

Like no matter how many years have passed, it all comes back to one big circle, because they were able to find each other again, they were able to rekindle their love for each other, their love that have started 10 years ago, and resumed 10 years later.

And when Takano held Ritsu’s hand to walk through that path and how the petals were falling in that background, it’s really romantic (yet, touching) to me, because it has always been on Ritsu’s mind how great it will be to walk through that together. It really just gives me all the feels ;_;

Yes, Takano, March 27th is Cherry Blossom Day, it’s also the day Ritsu was born as well as the day where it reminds him(Ritsu) of his love for you(Takano) because that’s when it all started, to the point that you took Ritsu to walk through that Sakura path together, even though it was to sober him up, but it’s destined, what’s meant to be, is meant to be. You guys really complete each other.

Ok, I’m getting all the feels after typing all this….

===

Anyways, the purpose why I made this post is because I find the comparison between the two stories to be quite interesting, even though I am not saying for a fact that Hybrid Child and Sekaiichi Hatsukoi is connected in story-wise, but I am among one of those fans who like the idea (crack/headcanon) that Ritsu & Takano is Kuroda & Tsukishima reincarnated.

For me though, I don’t love Kuroda & Tsukishima as much as I do for Takano & Ritsu, but I do love the concept/idea (even though it’s just a crack (headcanon of mines)) that their love did not end, but it got continued on to their next life (Ritsu & Takano). It’s not a downgrade for me in the least for the Nostalgia pairing, because you don’t judge a couple by their past life, but their current/present life.

Well, that’s what I wanted to say on my end, I do, however, love the parallel between the Sakura Trees highlighting their love there. This is how I see it.

While you can’t get your happiness in the past, let’s hope you will be able to get your happiness in the end, because both Takano & Ritsu surely deserve this after all they’ve been through. Ahh my otp ~~

Sinclairs-Demians Theory

Most of the theories now are focused on Demian by Hermann Hesse…

Hence the book suddenly being sold out everywhere…

If you are asked for three words that would explain HYYH what would they be?

  • In my opinion… it would be… Youth… Struggle… Dreams
  • My three words for Demian? Youth… Struggle… Will

Overarching summary of the book:

Demian is the coming of age story of Sinclair. Hesse's Demian dealt with the problem and experience of change. It was written during the First World War which is often seen as a time during which the world was robbed of its innocence. In the story, Sinclair meets this older boy named Demian who comes in different points of his life to usher him into maturity. Demian opens Sinclair’s eyes to see the world in a new perspective.  One of his main perspectives was that there is no pure evil and no pure good. That if one is not limited by what society deems as good and evil then one can attain his will or want better.

Another important character is Eva, she is Demian’s mom. She is beautiful in both masculine and feminine sense. She is, for Sinclair, what Demian cannot be. Demian is Sinclair’s friend and mentor; Eva acts as Sinclair’s mother and the object of his romantic love. Like Demian, Eva’s primary role is to help Sinclair develop appropriately.

Sinclair does meet more people along the way, all helping him figure out more about himself. But Every so often his path crosses with Demian. Eva taught Sinclair a trick to find her, he said that Sinclair just needs to will all his energy and she will send someone like her to be with him. (take note of this, I’ll explain it later) He tried it once and was surprised when it worked and Demian stood beside him. During the war, Sinclair did the same thing and Demian was suddenly beside him.  Demian tells Sinclair that if he ever feels like he needs help, he no longer needs to call Demian. He simply needs to look inside himself and he will see that Demian is within him. With that, Demian gives him a light kiss on the lips—a kiss that he says is from Frau Eva—and vanishes into the night.

Sooo… who is who… and what is what… in my opinion:

I think… Each pairing are each other’s Demians and Sinclairs helping each other reach the enlightenment that maturity supposedly brings.

Yes they each have their individual roads of struggle towards self discovery and they did some things that society would deem bad/evil while they were together.

Messing up restos…

Causing traffic…

but none of them were bad enough to cause themselves true harm. They had more difficulty traversing through their lives alone though, Damien without Sinclair… Sinclair without Damien… meant a road of self discovery alone and that’s when things got messier.

Remember, you can smile as long as we’re together?

All symbolisms in the short films point towards this. Kookie being first, showed the connection of HYYH story to Demian. It shows the importance of the pair ups and how relevant they are to each other. Shout out to Namjoon for the narrations that finally led us to interpret the stories this way, with their deeper meaning…

In terms of story lines, each pair has one and the short films gave us a peek on what happened to the pair. The short films I think are their mid-points where they have to come into terms with losing their Demians.

Sugakookie: Sparrow Hawk

In my opinion, SugaKookie shows that they are each other’s Damien and Sinclair the most. The way they were both struggling but were supporting each other and watching over the other was very evident. To Suga, he is Sinclair and Kookie is his Demian, his companion to self discovery. And Kookie is the same way with Suga. Story wise? Either they both died or just Yoongi. You probably read other theories, birds are omens of death. Yoongi legit caught fire so many times in so many ways.

I do think something happened to Kookie that led to Yoongi’s decision to have a need for this hot gif.

Their fight in Run was the turning point in their relationship. Suga, the raged-alcoholic fighting the run-away angst-y teenage Kookie led to Kookie leaving and the accident. Suga felt the guilt, which is why in Run Jap MV you could see him with all the broken shards of glass. The fight was his biggest regret. (BTW: I think that was what Run Jap MV showed, each HYYH character’s biggest regret. I never wrote this down, I just shared this to anyone who will listen.)

All other symbolisms in #Begin were proof of their pairing and Yoongi’s fire bending. You’d think Kookie died too due to the crash but the sparrow hawk in the end of #Begin makes me hope that death is not the only possible ending.

What is the sparrow hawk? The bird represents a desire to break free, to be independent. We’ve seen birds all throughout this era. Symbolically, this shows that this yearning has been present from the very beginning, as with the book. The big sparrow in the end indicates that Kookie has reached within himself to activate the part of him that longs to be set free.

Suicides see death as a form of freedom. Another possibility? Kookie didn’t die and #Begin is not the afterlife but a state of limbo one enters during coma. While in the subconscious he found out and came to terms with losing Yoongi and will learn how to live independently (If you are the optimist). So this could be the case or not…

JiHope: Apple

Well, Safe to say, in #Lie Jimin was in the loony bin. Probably trying to cope with his loss of his Demian, Jhope.

If Sugakookie had the sparrow hawk, Jihope had the apple. The apple, which like in the Bible, was what Sinclair would point out as the cause of his first misdeed. To relate with the village boys, Sinclair lied that he stole apples from the orchard. A character named Kromer blackmails Sinclair to pay for Kromer’s silence. This led Sinclair to do another misdeed. He stole to pay Kromer. The apples started his loop of misdeeds and him being under the control of blackmailing bullies who threatened to turn him in. Who saved Sinclair from this loop? Damien.

This only leads me to believe that Jimin is also Sinclair, lost without his Damien to stop the loop he is trapped in. How many times did Jimin try to kill himself in I Need U? Showcasing depression and addiction as the misdeed that loops is very fitting, in my opinion.

Speaking of addiction, Jhope. Jhope could be dead or just not with Jimin inside the loony bin anymore. We did see them both in the hospital in Run. Jhope may have had drug dependency issues due to his Narcolepsy and wanted to cure himself of this. Hence the throwing of pills and the hospital, or in my opinion, rehab scene with Jimin (the kid with depression/suicidal tendencies).

People think that Jhope died on the bridge. He admitted to being a narcoleptic though and the fall could have been an episode. So this could be the case or not…

VMon: Abraxas

VMon’s struggles portrays the idea of no pure good and no pure evil concept the best in all the story lines which is why #Stigma showed a significant name from the Demian story, Abraxas

Demian was the one who told Sinclair about Abraxas. He explained that the God Christians worshipped was pure good and for us to understand the world, we should understand not only what is good but also what is evil. That is Abraxas. He is a mystical deity? entity? who is both God and Satan, good and evil rolled into one. Hesse wanted to further show the blurry line between all good and all evil. This pair shows that not everything is just black and white. They were the only pair who legit committed a felony together. YOLO much?

We have always seen Namjoon going about his life as if dis-attached from everyone (aside from their ot7 and paired up flash backs). He had work and lived alone, just normal day to day.

Two significant clues that link Namjoon to #Stigma are the spray paint and phone booth. In the end of #Stigma, V requested his one call. Remember Jap Run MV with Namjoon in the telephone booth? He was never able to answer that call, I think. Does this make him bad? Is he purely bad for living his own life?

V, Sinclair has been left behind by his Demian, Namjoon. The puppy in #Stigma? The puppy was V’s innocence. It was trusting and innocent and it left him when the walls came down. He lost his innocence along the way, due to everything he had to go through.

V jumping towards the water in prologue and re-emerging after much struggle doesn’t necessarily mean that he died. In most cultures, water is a symbol for cleansing and renewal. It could be a symbolism of his road from wanting freedom to finally attaining it in himself. His freedom was attained through murder. He willed for his freedom and did an act that society would deem immoral. Was that act pure evil though?

Jin…

Jin, I think is Eva, the compassionate character watching over the Sinclairs and Demians. In te book, she loves and coddles Sinclair, commiserating with him about the hard times he had during his adolescence. At the same time, however, she is strong and commanding, exhorting him to become more in touch with and confident of his desires. Eva is a symbol of perfection and completion; she encompasses everything.

Jin oversees everything, he is part of each one’s journey but at the same time has little control over it. I am seriously looking forward to how they will cap off Jin’s story.

Summoning Trick:

So Eva told Sinclair that if he willed all his energy she will send someone like her to be with Sinclair, right? Can you list down how many times these happened in HYYH Series? Where one person just opens a door or closes their eyes and suddenly another person (or more would suddenly) be beside them?

I didn’t want to go through every little detail and assume a different meaning for each little hint and symbolism. So there.

(This next question might bring me hell… but… ) What do you think guys?

“Youth has no age. It just stays there, beautifully. And it is everyone who id chasing their dream. Rapmon, Jin, Suga, J-Hope,Jimin, V, and Jungkook. We are also part of the youth who are chasing the stars. So you can call us young, and we will never get old.” ~ RM, Youth Intro

And in the end when you wanted to walk away with a bouquet you bought for someone, I gave you lavender rose on the house, just because I thought it’d be a nice gesture. But because you liked the flower shop so much, or for some other reason, you started buying flowers at us all the time and consulting with me, and almost every time I gave you a flower, making up excuses for it. But today you walked in, red in face, and told me that your friend saw all the flowers from me that you collected in herbarium and told you all the meanings, and now you ask me if I did meant all of that, and I’m trying to collect all the thoughts in my head, like – what do you think of me now? and did you actually make a herbarium??
  • (variation of the ending for the AU above) I actually had no idea that all the flowers I gave to you had such meanings, because I just work here and am no expert in language of the flowers, but yes, apparently my intuition gave you all the right flowers to explain my feelings for you
  • Because I really needed money I signed up for a temporary job in a flower shop, since you really needed a pair of hands to help. I have almost no idea how to tend to flowers and compose a bouquet, and you, the strict manager, are really, like, really frustrated with me by the end of first day. I try and try and try, even seek help in the books and internet, and you’re still mad with me because I do a lot of things wrong and you have to help me with both flowers and customers. But instead of firing me, as I supposed, you ask me to stay after work so you can teach me the basics. And it’s so cool, thank you sooo much, you kinda saved my life and you’re not that bad as I thought you were? And are you that short-handed on personnel?
  • You’re this person we had to hire because not everyone wants to have a job as a florist, so we’re short on employees, and on your first day you make so many mistakes it’s embarrassing and I have to help you a lot. A LOT. But I’ve found that you’re struggling with money (not that I’ll tell you that I’ve found out), and you really want to stay on this job, and even found this book no one else in our shop read in forever and tried to make something by it. So I decide to help you. And yes, we’re that short-handed on personnel.
  • You’re this person I meet a lot throughout the last year, and you’re that grumpy, not very social person with whom I have nothing in common with, and we merely had two? three decent conversations? Apart from a few snarks we shot at each other. And one day, [for some reason] I walk into this little  flower shop not too far away from my place of work, and see you. As a florist. Humming something very pretty while you tend to flowers, and you’re such a different person than one I met before, even your face is different, like it’s lit up with some beautiful emotion I can’t describe. And now I can’t help but stare at you with awe.
  • Everybody thinks that if I am a florist, I must know the meaning of every single flower I work with. And now even you, the person I wanted to ask on a date, ask me if there’s a hidden message behind this bouquet I gave you! There’s NOT!!… Apart from that I wanted to ask you on a date. Not the point here.
  • I am a secret agent/thief/[insert anything applicable here] that needs to get into this one place which is heavily-guarded. The only way to seek its faults in defenses without attracting unneeded attention is to apply for work in a flower shop near it. And so I work here for almost a month, and my plan is coming smoothly… except for you, who works here too, and who confronted me right now, telling me what my actual profession is and what I want to do. Who are you to deduce it so well?! This was supposed to be a secret, dammit!
  • I work as a florist for a long time and you are the new employee who’s acting strange. For me, being raised on detectives since I was a child, is not that easy to determine who you actually are, but in the end I’ve done it. And you know what? I want IN, because I really need money [because (insert reason here), optional], so what do I need to do for you (or your group) to accept me as your assistant?
Operation OTP

A/N: A request from @minim236 for a Spencer x Reader where they are secretly dating, but the team doesn’t know and are still trying to get them together. @coveofmemories

                                                                —-

“Should we tell them?” Spencer asked you, after reading the message on his phone.

It was 8 AM and you were on your way upstairs. Since you’d started at the BAU, and realized how close you lived to Spencer, you’d carpooled in each morning. After about six months, you realized how much you liked each other and started dating, but you’d been carrying on your relationship right under the noses of your friends and co-workers. Apparently, they also thought you were a match, because they had been trying to get you together for months. “Nah,” you replied, “It’s too much fun seeing how they’ll try to get us together next.”

“Well, tonight, Morgan’s plan is to get us all to go out drinking,” he laughed, taking another look at his phone. “He claims that if I get drunk, I’ll work up the courage to tell you how much I like you.”

Spencer didn’t need any alcohol. He’d revealed to you after a particularly rough case what you meant to him, and you told him you felt the same. At the time, he had been a little shy, but that all fell to the wayside when you kissed him. That night had ended with some heavy making out on your couch. “If he only knew,” you laughed.

                                                               —-

As they walked off the elevator, Emily, Morgan, Garcia and JJ sat against their desks trying to figure out how Spencer and Y/N hadn’t started dating. “They are meant for each other,” Garcia exclaimed, throwing her ring-clad hands in the air. “He’s a genius, she’s a genius. They are both the sweetest people in the world. They’re both cute, why aren’t they dating?”

“You’re a little too invested,” JJ laughed. “I agree, but breathe. It will all happen in time. We’re gonna make it happen.”

Garcia sighed dreamily, craning her head in the direction of the hallway that led to the coffee shrine, which is where they were undoubtedly headed. “I know. It’s just…they’re my real life OTP, and I wanna make it happen.”

“OTP?” Morgan asked. “What the hell does that mean?”

“One True Pairing,” Emily, JJ and Garcia said simultaneously.

While Spencer and Y/N grabbed their morning coffees, undoubtedly downing one a piece even before leaving the room, Emily made sure that she, JJ, Garcia and Morgan were in a separate text feed. They needed to make sure one of them didn’t accidentally let either one of them know that the whole team, including Hotch and Rossi (to much lesser degrees) were rooting for them to get together. “I think they’re coming back,” she said quickly. “Abort mission. Fan out. Stay tuned.” As they all walked back to their desks, Emily waved her phone in the air. They had tried to push the two of them together on a couple of different occasions recently, but they were getting closer. Just another little push or two…

                                                              —-

Throughout the day, the four matchmakers exchanged a string of texts, trading ideas and attempting to figure out which one would work best for their one true pairing.

M: These two are getting on my last nerve.

JJ: Why?

G: Because we’re pulling out all our best matchmaking moves and nothing is working.

M: Exactly.

E: Something has to work. We know they love each other. They know they love each other. It’s just going to take something really romantic to get things going. I can feel it.

JJ: They definitely are the romantic types. Okay, so let’s float around some ideas. What are Spence and Y/N’s favorite things?

M: Books.

G: Coffee.

E: Chocolate.

JJ: Star Wars.

G: Good, let’s work with this. What can we set up, involving one or more of these things, that might get the two of them to come out? And I suggest that we make it a group thing and the six of us will conveniently be late.

E: Agreed.

M: Wait…there’s a chocolate expo coming into town for a limited time.

JJ: How the hell do you know that?

M: I keep seeing flyers in my neighborhood. There’ll be sculptures and tastings and all that shit. What if we get them to go there?

G: Omg yes, and those expos normally have private viewings or classes, so we can book one of those for the two of them, say it’s for all of us and then wait in the background and watch the sparks fly. This is totally going to work. Look at my Statuesque God of Chocolate Thunder bringing out the chocolate expo!

M: I’ve always got your back, babygirl.

G: I know you do, baby.

E: Down, children. Okay, so Garcia, you okay with looking into what kind of viewing or class we can book for them?

G: It would be my honor to be the catalyst of my OTP’s first kiss.

JJ: Smh

JJ: I think we’ve finally nailed down a fail-proof plan. Commence Operation OTP.

                                                             —-

“So what do you guys think?” Garcia asked you and Spencer. “We’ve all been under so much stress lately, and who doesn’t love chocolate? They have this chocolate making class you can go to. We can all go and learn how to make chocolate and then we can eat the chocolate. It’ll be so much fun.”

“I’m in,” you replied, knowing this was another one of their elaborate plans. “I could eat chocolate all day every day, so I’m definitely in if I get to eat some of the chocolate.”

Spencer swallowed, barely noticeable to anyone but you. He knew what they were trying to do. “Yea, I guess so. What time is it though? Because it’s on a Saturday, and we’ll be off from work, which means if I can’t sleep late, I’m not going,” he laughed.

“You’re safe, Spence,” JJ replied, knowing how late he liked to sleep on the weekend. He was normally in a coma when he walked in no matter the day, prior to having his morning cup of coffee that is. “It starts at noon and goes until 6. The expo does. The class is only a couple hours.”

“Then I’m in,” he said, taking another swig of his coffee. “It’s next Saturday? Not this Saturday?” Emily nodded, taking solace in the fact that they’d come this far in their plan. “Dammit, now I want chocolate. To the vending machine I go…”

                                                            —-

One Saturday passed and the next arrived, which meant it was the day that Emily, JJ, Garcia and Morgan would execute their perfect plan. “This is so going to work,” Garcia clapped as they walked into the expo. Spencer and Y/N had already texted that they were waiting in class. “I can feel it this time.”

As they made their way into the convention center, flashing their badges, which served as their tickets, they scanned the masses of people to see if they spotted the soon-to-be lovebirds. “There’s the area for the cooking class,” Rossi said. “I can’t believe you managed to put this together.”

“I mean, I know we’ve all been hoping for them to get together,” Hotch laughed, “But this is dedication.”

“You know I am nothing if not dedicated, sir,” Garcia replied. “There they are!” She splayed her hands outward, keeping everyone from moving another step. “Let’s observe.”

                                                           —-

“They really have gone to amazing lengths to get us together over the past few months,” you said, turning your back to Spencer so he could tie your apron behind your back. “Maybe we should finally give them the satisfaction of knowing we’re together. I think they ship us.”

“Ship?” he asked bewildered.

“To ship means to endorse a romantic relationship,” you replied.

Spencer raised on eyebrow. “I was just starting to pick up on slang from the 80s and 90s,” he said. “I’m so lost…but if that’s what it means then I definitely ship us.”

“I ship us too.” You could see the team out of the corner of your eye and told Spencer as much. “Gimme a little kiss.”

With a smile, he leaned up against the counter just as the teacher of the class said they’d start in ten minutes, and planted a chaste kiss on your lips, before jutting the tip of of tongue out ever so slightly. When you opened your eyes again, you smirked, silently telling Spencer to look back and give the team a wave.

                                                          —-

“Operation OTP is a success!” Garcia cried, clapping wildly as the rest of the team said it was about damn time.

“Wait?” Morgan said. “Those sneaky…”

“What is it?” she asked. Morgan took her head in both hands and turned it back toward Spencer and Y/N. They were waving back at them. Everyone’s mouths had dropped open in disbelief. How had they not picked up on that?

“They’re already dating?!” Garcia screamed.

Never in her life had Kagome Higurashi ever felt so empty; so utterly alone.

Unease bubbled within her flip-flopping stomach, spreading a wave nausea throughout her petite form. Her porcelain skin was flushed, yet clammy; crystalline hues seeing nothing but red. Hushed whispers were being shared behind her; the thrum of quite talking bouncing off the mosaic covered walls. It was not hard to distinguish that she was the sole topic of discussion within the room.

The heat of their stares bore down on her back and it was enough to make her want to squirm. She shifted slightly, her movement slow. The desire to wrap her arms around herself and shy away from the crowd was strong, though the mass of silk and lace that she was dressed in restricted her movements. It was suffocating, constricting; she couldn’t breathe. Her throat was dry, an uncomfortable lump forming, adding to her distress. The more she swallowed to in attempt to quell the feeling, the more prominent it became.

The stems of the lilies in her bouquet she held gave an audible cry under her vice like grip, drawing her attention. Glancing downward, she scrunched her nose and glared at the white flowers as if they were the sole cause for the pure embarrassment that was threatening to drown her. She blamed herself for letting it get this far. Kagome knew that this entire situation was not going to benefit any parties involved without some type of sacrifice. She was living in a dream world thinking that something like this would not be met with some type of resistance.

This was supposed to be a happy day, one where nothing could go wrong. This was a day that most girls dreamed about from a young age. This was supposed to be a celebration, one of happiness and life…of love.

But, here she stood, on her wedding day, groom-less.

She rationalized that she should be more upset than she currently was. Most women at this point in time would have broken down and called everything off. Kagome didn’t feel the pinpricks of oncoming tears forming in her eyes; there was no wave of sadness crashing down upon her. There was a myriad of emotions swirling within her, but sadness was not one of them. No, she mostly felt empty and alone, a numbness pulsing through her with every breath she took. Embarrassment held her in a vice, whispering within her to simply run away. It was duty and stubbornness that kept her rooted in the spot she held at the altar.

She was not surprised that it came to this point. All stories like this came bubbling to a climax. Though, she sorely wished her situation was not one that would leave her in this utterly insignificant position. Nothing seemed to work out the way that she wanted it to within this relationship. The whole thing was a cruel twist of fate.

It was a political marriage, one that was arranged.

An alliance of…sorts.

Kagome’s father always had a knack for technology, ever since he and her mother had met back in high school. Her mother would tell her stories of her father when he was a teen, about how he would lock himself away in his garage and invent little knick-knacks to impress her. He was always curious about things, he wanted to know what made them tick. What gave them drive. Over the years that curiosity developed, one that had landed him within his own firm. It was modest at first, a simple technology company that would develop software for computers, but over time it grew within power.

This was a modern era. Everything was run by some sort of software. There were plenty of other technological companies that competed with her fathers, but there was only one that he ever deemed a rival: Taisho Inc.

Touga Taisho was an esteemed businessman, ruthless in his field. He ran his company with the utmost care; every product produced was carefully planned, every business deal was a strategic power play. He conducted himself with the same manner and grace throughout his everyday life. There were no friendships, no bonds, no social gatherings that he attended that would not benefit his company. It was his lifeline; the fruit of his labor and he would not see its downfall. It was no surprise that it was becoming world renowned.

Kagome’s father has crossed Touga’s path early on at a business expo showing off one of the new microchips that he and his team had put together. It immediately caught Touga’s attention, who wished to simply buy it outright, including the patent to call it his own. Her father vehemently refused, much to Touga’s chagrin.

A rivalry was born. It was never hostile or derogatory. There was no slander or dragging through the mud. All they attempted to do was one-up each other. They liked to push each other to see what the he would do next. A simple game among men to see who would come out on top. Kagome assumed her father caught Touga’s interest because he was the first person to deny him what he wanted. In a world where you were always in charge, who would stand up and tell you no?

It carried on for years, the push and pull. One man outdoing the other. Benefit galas were never boring when those two men were in attendance. The casual jibes and mocking undertones were always a source of amusement. The words they spoke were never hurtful; mocking and full of dry humor, yes, but they were words of two men who highly respected one another.

It was at one of those galas that she met him, the man that was to be her future husband.

She was not prone to such gatherings. She was seventeen at the time, young, and somewhat clueless. Pair a long dress with her naturally clumsy demeanor and there was bound to be an issue. That issue presented itself when she was attempting to descend a staircase into the main ballroom. Kagome had been running late to the festivities, rushing through the doors and down the stairs without any caution. Her high heel tangled within her gown, the movement of her body already propelling her forward. Before she could make a complete embarrassment out of herself, she was caught and pulled back against a strong body.

Turning around to thank him, words died on her tongue. Kagome was caught within the piercing gaze of the most unique pair of golden eyes she had ever seen. He could not have been much older than her, maybe by a year or two. His cropped white hair was worn messily, not gelled back like the other men in attendance. Blue locked with amber, and for a moment—a bated breath – Kagome was spellbound.

Then he went and opened his mouth.

He had mocked her for her lack of ability to walk like a ‘normal person’, questioned her on if she was ‘all there in the head’, and then he proceeded to call her 'wench’.

Her hackles rose, left eye twitched in utter annoyance, and like a snake coiling to strike at its prey, Kagome had lashed out. An all-out verbal spar had ensued. Back and forth a battle of wits and insults was fought. He seemed to be the clear victor with a well-placed jab about her lack of feminine figure. Kagome replied with a neat kick to his shin before she stomped off.

It was later in the night that her father introduced her to his 'esteemed rival’ and his family. Her first impression of Touga was that of intimidation, he was a strong and proud man. Everything about him seemed to emanate power. It was his eyes, however, that gave Kagome a different view from that of the ruthless businessman the tabloids painted him as. There was a softness, awarmth there that she couldn’t quite place. It offset the towering demeanor that he presented. The fire within those golden depths smothered into an inferno of tawny when he looked down and introduced his wife.

Izyaoi Taisho was even more elegant than the magazines pictured her as. With soft brown eyes and waist length ebony hair, she held herself with the elegance and grace of royalty. Kagome mused that she technically was royalty with a husband like Touga. It was only after the introduction was made that Kagome realized that it was love that softened the edges around the businessman’s eyes. She remembered vaguely wondering if someone would ever look at her that way one day.

The next to be introduced was his second son, who she immediately recognized as her would-be savior from the staircase. His name was Inuyasha Taisho.

Glares were shared, insults were passed off, and continued disagreements were huffed – much to the bemusement of both sets of parents.

It carried on for years like that. Whatever events that they attended, no matter how much they tried to avoid one another, it always ended with Inuyasha and Kagome getting into some type of argument. It didn’t matter the topic, it could have been the weather, they simply just didn’t agree. She didn’t quite grasp why he was so brash. Why did everything out of his mouth had to be a crude insult? It was like he had a hardened shell around him. He didn’t want to let anyone in and lashing out was all he knew.

When Inuyasha became the topic of a debate amongst Touga, her father, and a few of Taisho’s business associates at a financial gala she was attending, Kagome finally understood. Touga was explaining his notion of dividing his company amongst his two sons when he was ready to step down. The idea of his oldest being in charge was something that the group had approved. However, the concept of Inuyasha being in charge of anything related to Touga’s company was rebuffed, scoffed at, and utterly frowned upon.

She remembered the confused look that crossed her father’s face. She also remembered the burning anger that turned Touga’s gaze into golden stone. The group of Taisho’s business associates were overlooking Inuyasha’s skill within finances and disregarded his of understanding the market. In turn, they decided to make it a point to discuss his clear lack of decorum. Looking back on it now, she was positive one of men even went as far as to call him a disgrace to the Taisho name.

She didn’t know what prompted her to do it. Maybe it was Touga’s tense posture, one that was ready to battle anyone who disrespected his son. Maybe it was the look of sadness that flashed within Izayoi’s eyes. Maybe it was the utter heartbreak that seemed to roll off of Inuyasha in waves as he caught the tail end of the discussion. He didn’t look surprised, like he had heard it before. He looked beaten; broken. Kagome moved on her own then, pushing into the fray of bodies. Fire burned within her cerulean depths as she stomped up to the nearest man, hands clenched at her sides.

Kagome couldn’t for the life of her remember what exactly she said as she ranted and raved to the group of men. All she could recall from the confrontation was that Higurashi Tech, under her guidance, would never do business with the likes of close-minded, arrogant, and stuffy individuals who had their heads so far up their own asses that they could not ascertain a decent business deal even if it was waved right under their noses.

She was cut off, mid tirade, by Inuyasha who promptly clamped a hand over her mouth and dragged her out of the building.

She turned her raging emotions on him once they were outside. He remained silent, while she carried on, pacing back and forth on the sidewalk, shouting about where they got the right to judge anyone. He waited patiently for her to stop, for all the anger to seep out of her as she hollered about the inequality of things. When Kagome had finally deflated was when she got a good look at him. He looked remorseful, sad, and bashful all rolled into one. She never understood that look, the one that he gave her that night. It held something that she couldn’t quite read.

He then proceeded to do something that she never thought he would do, he thanked her.

Inuyasha Taisho thanked her.

Looking back on it now, Kagome didn’t think that she ever saw that wayward emotion seep into Inuyasha’s gaze again, at least not around her.

It was the beginning of their odd friendship. Much like their father’s relationship, Kagome and Inuyasha were rivals with a twist. Attempting to one up each other whenever they got the chance. Over the next several years, it budded into a true friendship. Kagome was a woman entering a male dominated corporate world. Inuyasha was the frowned upon heir to an empire. She was his rock and he was hers. They were the only ones who truly understood each other – what it was like to be an outsider.

If she had to guess, their friendship was the basis for the idea that their fathers came up with. Watching their children grow into the young adults that would take over their companies one day, what better way to secure their future then a marriage? A marriage that would not only unite their children, but their corporations as well. It would push them to the top of the technological hierarchy, securing the power for the new generation for when they took over.

A cough from behind her broke Kagome from her thoughts. Perspiration was beginning to bead under the snowy veil upon her brow and she fought an urge to wipe it away. Looking up, she caught a glimpse of Miroku Saito who was clad in his ceremonial robes. The soft baritone of his voice was reciting a passage from a scripture within the golden bible he held. The young woman was thankful she was standing so close to him, he was drowning out of the whispers coming from behind her. He looked up then, feeling her gaze on him. They stared at each other for a moment, his violet eyes filled with nothing but warmth.

She had been introduced to Miroku through Inuyasha a couple of years back. He was a personal lawyer that worked within Taisho Inc. He had a reputation of being particularly witty within the courtroom, always cracking jokes at inappropriate times. That, however, didn’t stop him from outmatching many when it came to a battle of legal loopholes. Much to the displeasure of his opponents, Miroku had a knack of getting out of any situation that he was presented with. He also proudly maintained a reputation of having wandering hands. She had been on the receiving end of his caresses far more than she had liked over the last couple of years.

Miroku raised his voice by a decibel then, drowning out the background noise even further. Kagome assumed that he could sense her discomfort, though, she was sure she really wasn’t masking it well. He continued on with his hymn and he offered her a small reassuring smile before passing a quick glance to his right, then back down to his book.

Looking over in the direction Miroku had just gazed, Kagome locked eyes with her best friend and maid of honor. Sango Ito looked pristine in the sky-blue silk gown that hugged her figure, her chocolate locks tucked into neat bun nestled in the middle of her head. She looked every bit the put-together maid of honor she was supposed to be, calm and collected on the exterior. However, it was the small furrow on her brow, paired with the scowl that was marring her angelic features which disclosed that something was wrong. Sango held her own bouquet of flowers in a white knuckled grip, Kagome noted. Pity and anger danced within her auburn gaze. Kagome knew that Sango wanted her to end this sham of a ceremony. She didn’t want Kagome to continue on through this embarrassment.

Unable to handle pressure from the emotions within her best friend’s gaze, Kagome bowed her head slightly, half-heartedly turning her attention back to Miroku and looked up at him through her lashes.

Kagome knew Inuyasha didn’t want to get married.

Hell, she didn’t want to marry him either.

When they were presented with the notion from their fathers, the two of them simply burst out laughing. How could they have been serious? They were friends. Comrades within a corporate world that they knew little about. Nothing more, nothing less. They both treated their fathers’ antics as a joke. They both knew very well that their parents would never actually force them to get married if they didn’t want to.

It was a year ago, on Kagome’s twenty-fourth birthday, that she no longer took the idea of their marriage as a joke.

It was raining that day, she remembered. It was a simple accident, a lock up of the breaks as he tried to swerve out of the way of an unruly stray dog that ended up in the middle of the road. The paramedics said that he didn’t suffer. It was a swift and painless death, that he was gone before the car had finished rolling off the highway.

A year ago, Kagome Higurashi because the unwilling and unprepared CEO of Higurashi Tech. in the wake of her father’s untimely death.

Her father always told her that a man who lives fully is not afraid of death. Death is a painful truth. It is what is to come. He stated that death was at the end of a foggy road and we must get through the fog called life to finally see the clearing. Though she knew that he would have been content with knowing of the way that he passed, it didn’t stop the loneliness that was like an unyielding vice on her heart. It squeezed with just enough pressure to be a constant pain and it smothered her every day just a little bit more. There really was no time to grieve after the funeral. Her world had to keep on turning, no matter how much she wanted it to stop. The inner light that she typically emitted was slowly smoldering down to embers.

She had to keep on reminding herself that there was a company to run. Her father’s legacy to uphold.

…and she had no idea even where to begin.

She held no regrets turning to Touga for advice even though it landed her in his current predicament. Taisho had taken her under his wing for the first few weeks, promising her that he would help her keep her father’s vision alive. He taught her what he could from afar, he was still competition after all. It would be of no interest to him to help his business’ biggest competitor stay afloat, but she knew he was paying his dues to her father. It was when things finally started to look brighter that her world came crumbling down once more. The board of directors at Higurashi Tech had taken into consideration the circumstances to which Kagome had proceeded her father in his position, but that did not change their minds on how they felt the company should be run. They were politely asking her to step down.

Again, she turned to the one man who she thought would have all the answers. Instead, he offered her something that she never assumed that he would. Touga gave her only one solution to her troubled situation: merge the companies like they had previously discussed. With his help, he would make sure that she remained in charge of the Higurashi Tech portion of things. She would have free reign to do whatever she wanted with her branch as she saw fit, and in turn, her benefit and continued growth would help his company remain at the top of the technological food chain. The only other stipulation that he required from her, besides the merger, was that she would have to seriously consider marrying Inuyasha.

She wanted to feel swindled. She wanted to feel betrayed and backstabbed by Touga’s offer. He knew that she was in no condition to run the company the way that her board of directors would have wanted. It would only have been a matter of time before they had taken the company from her. This was her father’s dream, the only thing that she had left of him. There was absolutely nothing that would keep her from maintaining this company and Touga knew that. He was backing her into a corner and there was only one way out. The little voice in the back of her head knew that he was right, putting the companies together would only benefit them both. It would keep everything that her father worked his whole life for alive. It was like keeping a piece of him alive and there was nothing that was going to take this piece of him away from her. She would never allow it.

So, she contested to the terms.

It was then that Kagome had noticed that her lithe body was trembling slightly. Trying to get her nerves about her, she stilled her quivering muscles in attempt to muster some type of vigor to get through this. The tips of her fingers were ice cold, her toes numb in the pinched high heels she was wearing. Another wave of nausea wracked her form as Kagome struggled to breathe. That uncomfortable lump in the back of her throat was making itself known once more.

She couldn’t blame him for this. She didn’t blame him for this.

How could he? How could she?

After knowing each other for the last seven years, Kagome had always assumed the bond that she and Inuyasha shared would play a bigger role in this. Some small voice in the back of her head told her that she should never assume anything anymore. She made assumptions all of her life and look at where they got her. She assumed that her father would be around when she took over the company to help guide her in the right directions. She assumed that Touga would have assisted her without an ulterior motive. She assumed that she would be marrying someone that she loved.

Inuyasha took the news of their betrothal much better than she had anticipated. In any other situation, he would have caused a riot, flinging foul words and inanimate objects around the room. He would have carried on like a sulking child until he achieved his way. But he took one look at her; blue locked with gold, just the same as the first day that they met. His father broke the news and she felt his eyes bore right down to her very core. Inuyasha was searching for something. A hint of doubt perhaps? She wasn’t sure, but whatever it was he wasn’t going to find it. She knew what he saw when he looked at her. What he met was unadulterated sadness and empty pleading. She doesn’t know how long they remained like that. The silenced weighed heavy on the room, Touga a long-forgotten participant in the conversation. They simply stared at one another. Cobalt irises being smothered by golden hues and in the end, Inuyasha simply submitted with a bow of his head.

She never questioned why he resigned to the marriage the way that he did, but she was eternally grateful.

When the news of their engagement broke and the merge of the two companies was solidified, the corporate world erupted into chaos. Esteemed rivals were asking for meetings to discuss future deals, current employees were looking forward to the new changes, and Touga took it upon himself to announce that he would be stepping down.

Both of their lives were falling into disorder. Here they were, left to their own devices to plan a wedding and to pick up where their fathers left off with their companies. Kagome knew Inuyasha was doing this solely for her benefit. It was a debt that she did not know how to repay. She swore that they could get through this together. That they would get through this together. Inuyasha was still her rock and she would always remain as his. Once everything had calmed down after the wedding, they would figure out their lives together.

What she was not expecting, however, was that on the one day that she needed him most – the one day that they swore they would conquer hand in hand – Inuyasha would abandon her.

Nothing over the last few months would have indicated to Kagome to think that she would end up alone at the altar. Inuyasha carried on the same, always with that headstrong attitude that rivaled her own. He made it a point to check in on her most days under the pretext of making sure the wedding was not causing her too much stress. Kagome knew better though. She knew that he was visiting her to calm his own fraying nerves. They had come to an unspoken understanding. Or at least, she thought that they did. The merger would take place after their wedding and they would run their companies alongside one another. Though they were not marrying for love, there was still mutual respect and that was more than what some had in their own marriages. Together they were going to unite the different aspects of their lives and attempt to achieve the goals that they had always hoped would one day be accomplished. Inuyasha would finally be in charge and she would keep her father’s dream alive.

How was it, that if there was this understanding, that here she stood all alone?

There was a low growl that emanated off to her right. Without turning around, Kagome already knew that the sound came from Touga. She could feel the frustration emanating off of him from where she stood. She knew that most of it was directed towards his son, but Kagome was also a guilty party behind his anger. He was the last person Kagome had informed when she found out Inuyasha was missing.

Blue battled purple in a silent attempt to figure out what to do with this entire situation. Miroku had been a the first to know that the would-be groom had went into hiding. Miroku had gone to Inuyasha’s apartment before arriving at the church to find his friends home ransacked. It looked like whoever left had gone in a hurry without concerning themselves with cleaning up the mess they made. Miroku knew right away that he had run, hiding from his responsibility to one of their good friends. It was not until he found the note laid out on the granite countertop that his fear was confirmed.

She was getting ready for the ceremony when he brought it to her. She could tell by the look on his face when he entered her dressing from that whatever Miroku had to share with her was not good news. He didn’t say a word when he handed her over the note. It was short and to the point, written in Inuyasha’s typical chicken scratch.

K-

I’m so sorry, but I just can’t do this.

- I

She was confused at first, remaining silent for a long time. The first emotion that erupted within her was anger. Of all days he had to pull something like this? Though that anger was quickly settled with cool resolve. She promised herself that there would be nothing, absolutely nothing, that would stop her from keeping her father’s dream alive. If Inuyasha was not going to help her along that path, then so be it. She knew the wedding needed to happen for the merger to occur and she needed this merger to occur. There would be a wedding, with or without a groom. Without a word, Kagome simply crumpled up the letter and politely told Miroku that he needed to leave so she could finish getting ready for the service. The look that crossed over his face was priceless, she wished she had a camera to capture the moment. The slack-jawed shock plastered all over his face was the only amusing thing that could have occurred from this entire situation. He remained like that for a solid two minutes before Miroku had pulled himself together. He attempted to talk her out of this pony show, to save herself the embarrassment of this whole ordeal.

Kagome refused.

There was nothing that anyone could do to sway her. She needed to do this. It was for her father.

Miroku had somberly left her after their small debate, to which she took the time to notify her mother and her maid of honor that there would be no groom waiting for her at the end of the alter. Sango vowed his death by her own two hands, but her mother looked at her with understanding. She didn’t try to sway her from what she was about to do. Kagome figured it was because her mother understood better than anyone what it meant to keep this company alive.

Confusion was evident within the church when she was walked down the aisle by her little brother only to be given away to a non-existent groom. She did her best to drown out the background noise. It helped that Miroku carried on the ceremony as if it was normal to only have the bride present.

She could do this. She would do this.

- o -

“-gome.” Cerulean eyes that were lost within her memories had come back to vivid life. Kagome focused her attention back to the present ceremony. Miroku’s gaze held that familiar warmth, though there was pinch of worry within those indigo orbs. Lips quirking slightly in a small halfhearted smile, Kagome let Miroku know that he had her attention once more.

When he spoke again, his voice was just a hushed whisper. “It’s time for the sharing of the vows Kagome.” He breathed in her direction. His eyes drifted towards the vacant spot next to her before he locked gazes with her once more. They simply stared at each other, an awkward silence now descending upon the entire church. She knew that he was worried with proceeding, seeing as it was usually the groom who stated his vows first, but with no groom here Miroku didn’t know what to do exactly.

“Is there any way that we could possibly skip this part?” She hissed through clenched teeth, eyes filled with panic darting between Miroku and Sango.

Miroku responded in a sheepish whisper, “Well, I could say a few words instead of you reciting your own vows, but we still have to exchange the rings and we very well can’t skip that part.”

How could she do this? How could she put herself through this?

She was in denial. She knew it. Her friends knew it. Every person sitting in the church knew it. She wanted to believe – to hope – that this wasn’t happening. That this was just one of his immature pranks. He always knew how to get under her skin; always knew which buttons to push that would get a rise out of her. She wasn’t expecting him to run through the front door with grandiose proclamations of his undying affection towards her. She knew those words wouldn’t be true, but she was expecting something. Anything to deny that this was actually happening. If she just continued with the ceremony it would give him enough time to make it for the important parts…right?

She screwed her eyes closed tight.

'Breathe, Kagome.’ She chastised herself internally. What was she going to do? If this wedding didn’t happen then neither would the merger. It would only be a matter of time before the board of directors asked her to step down once again.

She released a strangled noise from the back of her throat. Kagome could feel her shoulder shaking, but she wasn’t sure if it was from the stress her body was undergoing or the dry sobs that she was attempting to suppress. She could feel everyone’s eyes on her. If they were an uncomfortable weight on her in the beginning of the ceremony, they were now an unfathomable and unnerving mass crashing down upon her. Kagome didn’t want to open her eyes and look around her. If the emotions that Miroku and Sango held in their gazes were any indication to go from, she was sure that if she took one look at her mother it would utterly break her. Her mother’s eyes were always so calm, so welcoming. Even after the loss of her father – her mother’s life partner – her mother always presented a serene and openhearted aura. It was what got Kagome through her father’s death. It helped heal and lift the veil of the sorrow.

Now, she knew that if she took one look in her mother’s eyes, it would solidify that this was over. Her mother would tell her to simply stop fighting it, to accept this situation as what it is. She could almost hear what her mother would say. 'It’s alright dear,’ she would declare in that soft voice of her. 'You tried you best and that is all he would ask for.’ This dream of running her father’s company was coming to an end. Every aspect of her life was slowly slipping through her fingers like sand. No matter how hard she tried, she could find purchase to keep all the pieces together. Kagome knew that she had talked herself up. That even though she attempted to mentally prepare herself from going through this ceremony alone, there was little she could do to actually prepare herself for the events when the time came.

She opened her eyes again, ones filled with unshed tears. Kagome quickly locked gazes with Miroku, “You were right Miroku, I shouldn’t have done this. I..I-” Her words cut off as a choked sob made its way up her throat. More tears welled up in the corner of her eyes and it took every ounce of strength she had to stop them from falling.

Miroku remained silent, glancing over at Sango with pleading eyes. He was silently willing her to do something about this entire situation. Perhaps if they intervened now they could save their friend the continued embarrassment of carrying on this charade.

Kagome took a deep shuddering breath and closed her eyes. She just needed a minute, just a minute to collect herself. She focused on her breathing.

In. Out.

In. Out.

The only announcement of his arrival was the sudden warmth of a body next to her own. The musky scent of a forest after rainfall invaded her senses. It was crisp; clean. A welcomed balm that began to sooth her tousled array of emotions. When Kagome opened her eyes, she was met with the sight of Miroku, both eyebrows high upon his brow. It took him a moment to collect himself, but when he did, Kagome swore she saw a flash of humor dance within those purple depths. Confusion wracked her brain and slowly, Kagome turned her head to peek at the man standing next to her.

He was permeating his typical air of nonchalance, looking like he wanted to be anywhere else besides where he was currently standing. His hair was a waterfall of silver down his back, though it was shorter from when she last saw him, just brushing past his shoulders. It was nearly pulled back into a low ponytail resting at the nape of his neck. He was wearing a suit much like his father’s, traditional black jacket and matching pants. The maroon suit vest and matching bowtie brought a pop of color to the ensemble, but it also made the color of his eyes flare to life.

Sesshomaru Taisho was a picturesque being of aristocratic authority mixed with an unparalleled god-like arrogance that left him as infamous in the corporate world as he was in the tabloids. His personality befits the power and rank that he held. Like his father, he was a calculating man, but much colder to the point where it was difficult to approach him. He gave her the same first impression that she had of his father, intimidation, though where she eventually warmed up to Touga, she had never felt comfortable in Sesshomaru’s presence.

The last time that they spoke was the night that Inuyasha and herself had announced their engagement. She made the mistake of asking him how he was fairing that evening, to which he answered with a glare and a noncommittal response. At a loss for how to even continue to engage this type of man in casual conversation, Kagome politely excused herself before hastily scurrying off to an area of the house that didn’t seem so frigid.

The only person that Kagome saw Sesshomaru interact with – willingly – that night was his father. Even then the conversation seemed strained with Touga taking over most of the discussion. Kagome didn’t know how she felt about him. She couldn’t read him. He was elusive, a mystery. He was a man that was indescribable when it came to appearance and demeanor. Many men sought to be him and many women sought to be with him. Kagome got the feeling that he didn’t particularly like her, though he didn’t actually hate her either. She was indifferent; someone that just happened to be there on occasion when he was around. They were not friends, hell, they weren’t even acquaintances.

Either way, it didn’t exactly explain what he was doing, standing next to her at the altar.

He looked at her then, a fleeting glance from the corner of his eye. She saw the barest hint of disinterested gold looking in her direction, before he turned his gaze to Miroku.

“Continue.” He deadpanned.

Kagome’s brow furrowed in utter confusion as to what he was talking about.

Continue? Continue what exactly?

It was then that she realized that he was talking about the exchanging of vows. Kagome quickly glanced over to Sango, who seemed to be caught in the same shocked stupor that she was. Kagome quickly opened her mouth to protest, but Miroku cut her off before she could get a word out.

“Will you be filling in the role of the groom?” He questioned in an almost – dare she say – pleased voice.

Sango recovered from her shocked surprise at the question. “Stand in?! That is highly illegal. Of all the harebrained schemes that you have come up with over the years Miroku! You are a lawyer, you should know better!” Sango screeched from her position off to the right. “Are you out of your mind Miroku?” She questioned, “Enough of this, I should have never let Kagome carry on this far. We need to end th-”

“Quiet.” Shesshomaru quietly demanded, giving Sango only a fleeting glance before his eyes trained back on Miroku. Things got eerily quiet for a moment. No one spoke. After a solid minute of silence, Sesshomaru offered a response to the original question, “I am no stand in.”

Sango, who, at this point in time was closing the distance between herself and Kagome, stopped dead in her tracks, her face contorting into another state of shock. Miroku quirked a brow, but kept his mouth firmly closed. The voices that had been silenced were now back with a vengeance. Over the throng of murmured voices, Kagome could swear that she also heard someone choke back a fit of laughter coming in the direction of where Touga was sitting.

Kagome was aware that she needed to do something – say something – anything that would gather the reins and take control of this situation. Before she could speak, Miroku once again beat her to it.

“Then by all means, please state your vows.” He drawled with the corner of his mouth kicking up into a smirk.

Sesshomaru turned towards her then, easily towering over her petite frame. Kagome opened her mouth again in an attempt to formulate something – anything – to protest this. She needed a moment to gather her thoughts so that she could wrap her head around just what exactly is going on.

In response to seeing her pathetic attempt at stalling, Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes a fraction of an inch and Kagome took that as her cue to politely keep her mouth shut. With an audible click of her teeth, she shifted stiffly in his direction. She was sure she looked like a deer caught in the headlights, doe-like cerulean orbs staring up at him with a mix of confusion and apprehension.

When he spoke again, his voice had picked up in volume, though it had dropped an octave. It was a deep and husky baritone that she had never heard him use before.

“I vow to you today and a thousand times over that I will never let you leave my side. I invite you to take all of me, to come into my life and to share all I have to offer. I humbly give you all that I am and pray that you choose me on this day and all of our days hereafter.”

The longer he spoke, the quieter the church seemed to become. The words that were so sincerely spoken vibrated off the cathedral walls. They wrapped around her, caressing her skin with an unparalleled warmth. She could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand as she listened to their meaning, her heart skipping a beat when he was finished. A cascade of pink blossomed on the pale skin of her cheeks as she stared, slightly slack jawed, at the man before her. This man who she barely knew. This man who had come to her in her time of need. This man. This man was supposed to be her brother-in-law.

There was something in his gaze that she could not quite place, something that turned cold amber into molten golden fire. He was looking at her; through her. Almost as if he was seeing someone that was not her. Was he imagining someone else standing next to him? Her stomach twisted in a knot, but this time she wasn’t so sure that it was from the anxiety of the situation. No. It was something else.

Miroku took advantage of her stunned state. He wanted to get this entire situation over and done with. The sooner the ceremony ended, the quicker he could get Kagome away from all of these prying eyes.

“Do you…er…Sesshomaru Taisho take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, in sickness and in heath, in good times and woe, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself solely unto her for as long as you both shall live?” Miroku asked.

“I do.” Sesshomaru supplied.

“Do you Kagome Higurashi take Sesshomaru Taisho to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, in sickness and in heath, in good times and woe, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself solely unto him for as long as you both shall live?” Miroku asked again.

She didn’t answer right away. She couldn’t answer right away. What was there to say? What could she say? How did she end up in an even more confusing situation than she had already been in? Out of everything that could have occurred today, standing here facing a man she barely considered an acquaintance and vowing her entire life away was not something that she figured would happen.

A cold chill of dread slithered its way up her spine. She should not be doing this. If it was up to her, she would not be doing this. It was hypocritical to think that she would have thought that if it was Inuyasha standing next to her she would have gone through with this. What made it so different now that it was Sesshomaru standing there? She needed to remember what she was doing this for. Who she was doing this for. What was that burning desire that she had that fueled her through this much of the ceremony?

This was her father’s legacy, she would not let it die.

She gnawed her lower lip between her teeth for a moment, staring up at Sesshomaru with a million questions floating through her mind. One seemed to stand out more than the rest.

Why?

Releasing a ragged breath that she did not realize that she was holding, Kagome squared her shoulders and straightened her spine.

“I do.” She breathed quietly.

Everything else around her seemed to fade into darkness. The church, the guests, even Miroku and Sango. Kagome simply stared at the man before her. The realization dawned quicker than she had anticipated it to and caused unease to bloom within her stomach.

She had pledged eternal love to a man that she hardly even knew and he was supposed to be her brother-in-law.

FAHC Headcanon Ideas #2 + AH Prompt Ideas #1

Got this idea from me possibly starting to develop nearsightedness because I treat my eyes poorly! This one’s Gavin sentric, this also has to include the HC where Gavin is a hacker btw so it can make sense.
((Sorry for poor grammar or miss spelling I don’t want to edit this))

Sense Gavin is a hacker he’s always looking at screens, and sometimes he looks at screens in the dark because he’s too lazy to get up and turn on the lights, and he’s been in the hacking business for a while like he started when he was a young teen (12? Around that age-ish) and he’s glued on the damn computer for hours just doing work, he only really gets up to use the bathroom and that’s it, he doesn’t eat when he needs to and trades sleep for coffee or energy drinks, and he somehow forgets to fucking blink, no joke he’s so focused on his work, so “in the zone” that his brain forgets the fact that he needs to blink, after sitting in a chair and intensely stairing at a computer screen for 7 or 10 hours or some crazy amount of time without blinking your eyes as many times as you should so he just wants to pluck his eyes out in the end, they’re strained and a bit red and feel oddly dry from the lack of blinking and overall just hurt by all the work they’re put through, and starting off hacking at such a young age definitely didn’t help his vision. Fast forward a couple of years and he’s 15, he’s been in the hacking business for 3 years and is really good for a kid his age with the amount of experience he has, but lately things seemed a little off, he couldn’t really see small words from a distance to good, this made school a little challenging considering the amount of time it would take him to copy notes from the white board and it bugged him a bit but he didn’t think it was a big deal, just brushed it off as the lighting was messing with him, he’d always squinting his eyes to try and make out the slightly fuzzy looking letters, getting a bit peeved over mixing up a lower case ‘i’ for an ‘l’, but he managed, as time passed he had to move to the front of the class just to see the damn letters for his notes! This was around the time that he was thinking “Bloody hell these letters are hard to read” but still thinks it’s “just the mingy lighting”, walking back home he notices little things as well, Street signs are really hard to read now and where stop signs and cars always that fuzzy from a far? After a year things really get fuzzy, he cannot read the white board without asking Dan or some other kid to read it to him, people walking down the sidewalk are just blobs of color, he can’t really see what’s at the end of ally ways, can’t see much of anything from a distance to be honest, it’s getting bad to the point where he bumps into things at time and Dan is getting worried and suspicious, what confirms his suspicious is the day he tries to teach Gavin how to shoot a gun, fast forward another year and he’s 16 going on 17, he’s explaining how he should stand, how to not hurt himself and places to shoot if you where ment to kill or injer someone without killing them instantly, for years he’s been training Gavin on how to fight and protect himself for gang activity has is rising and training him how to shoot a gun was by far one of the hardest parts, the boy had terrible aim, he would always position Gavin in the perfect way but he still managed to miss the target and hit the fucking wall next to it, he taught and taught him how to aim but out of frustration Gavin would throw the gun to the ground and yell at his friend “It doesn’t bloody help that you made the target too damn hard to see!” and Dan just gives him a weird look at says “What the? Gavin I didn’t make the target hard to see! I see it perfectly you twat!” And Gav’s like “It looks all fuzzy! It’s a blob of color!” so Dan looks at Gavin and then the target and then Gavin again and declares “You’re going to the eye doctor tomorrow”

So the next day Dan forces Gavin to go to the eye doctor, and woopie do Gavin Free is nearsighted! And Gavin hated it. He needed to pick out some glasses that he didn’t want to wear because it was going to be a pain in the ass to run around in the streets, trying not to get killed with glasses that can fall off and break and make you recognizable as fuck. So he desides to buy contacts and a pair of glasses just in case. The first time he almost lost one and goddamnit having eye problems are a pain in the ass, but he could finally see signs, people and the ends of ally ways which was extremely helpful!

Fast forward, he moved to Los Santos in America and whoa Geoff Ramsey and the FAHC noticed his potential and asked him to join their infamous gang of idiots and he did after thinking about the choice. So to passes and he is loving life and his boys are everything to him, he loves them and his job behind the scenes on his computer and all is fine. Until the day he ended up losing his contacts. It was a rush, he woke up late and now he was scrambling around the apartment to get ready for the day, burning the piece of toast he was planning to eat, almost poking his eye out as he tryed to quickly apply golden eye shadow on him, putting on his shirt backwards and tripping 5 times per minute, and of course he can’t find his damn contacts. That was just the icing on the cake for a terrific morning. He tried to find them but he had no idea where they where and Geoff was going to kill him when he gets to the penthouse, so in a desperate attempt to get out of the apartment he grabbed his spare glasses, put them on and ran hell to his bike (or car idk), eventually making it to the penthouse. Everyone is busling, tomorrow they where going to commit a hiest and they needed to make sure everything was ready, Geoff about to call Gavin suddenly heard the front door opened, followed by a loud “SORRY I OVER SLEPT BUT I’M HERE NOW!” with a British accent. Geoff, annoyed that Gavin overslept stopped at his tracks when he walked into the living room and saw the Gavin Free wearing a pair of thick black framed glasses perched on his nose, a bit crooked, but that was a sight to see. Gavin groaned as he fixed his glasses, he hasn’t worn them in years and he was used to contacts, remembering exactly why he didn’t like wearing glasses. “Bloody hell today was a crap morning.” He complained and Geoff is just stairing at him and he gives him a weird look and says “Geoff? What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?” And Geoff just giggles at the sight, thinking the glasses made Gavin look more like a nerd then he already was and blerts out “When did you get glasses?! And Gavin is confused and says “Geoff I’ve had glasses ever since I was 16” and Gavin has never told the crew about his eye problems thinking he has already and Geoff just called out to the guys and everyone just stopped at their tracks to see Gavin in glasses and complement or tease him about them. Gavin claiming that he thought he told them all about how he was near sighted because he didn’t take care of his eyes.

And if you want it to be shippy/OT6/what ever is your otp, Gavin getting all blushy and flustered if the boys (or boy) complement him on how cute he looked and giving him kisses.

But when you take a bullet for the super soldier it’s hard for them to find reasons not to trust you, after you risked your own life. So why did Bucky god-damn Barnes reduce you into a pathetic gigging school girl.
