i have all the side effects

So I’ve been thinking about possible effects of all the sides different rooms, and I have a theory for Patton’s.
The first assumption is that everyone would become very happy and bubbly, but I don’t think that’s right. Patton is the emotional side. I think whatever emotion they’d feel at the time would be enhanced and they may say things more openly. My personal first thoughts upon realizing this were of Roman venting about his insecurities and Virgil openly telling the other sides how much he actually legitimately cares for them, but I’m especially interested in what Logan, someone who prides himself on not being a very emotional person, would do and say in Patton’s room.

A Thing That Should Happen

//So, I was thinking - quite fondly - back on the phenomena that was the SOLDIER Olympics. If this doesn’t ring a bell (it was almost a year ago, you might not have been around then/following the people involved) here’s some links:

  • full tag as Lazard and I experienced it, chronologically
  • Summaries one and two

But a quick tl;dr for those not interested in reading all the shenanigans…. basically @firxga started an event, not really seriously but it caught on like wildfire. And all of a sudden there’s multiple roleplayers jumping into threads so you have multi-person threads and some of the most delightful chaos I’ve ever seen. Shyness went out the window. Everyone was interacting with everyone and it was glorious.

And the side effect was people who might not normally interact suddenly were. I think there were probably a lot of new interactions that led to later threading and even friendships (that was when I first really started interacting with @firxga and @engineershands, for example) and it was just… so much fun.

I want that again. I want to see everyone just interacting without all the (natural, admittedly) shyness or worry about what is or isn’t “good enough” performance anxiety that “formal” threads often bring on. These were short, rapid replies with literally no goal other than to have fun, which really is what roleplay should be about at its heart.

But I don’t know how to do it. I don’t know how to bring that spark back again. So I’m reaching out to see what everyone thinks about it. I know I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed it, and I think the community as a whole would definitely benefit.

My thought, tentatively, was that we could have a situation set up with the understanding that anyone could pop in anywhere. Multiple open starters for the same situation, so things are overlapping with the sense that all these threads are simultaneous and loosely related.

The first thought that’s been knocking around in my head was possibly some sort of costume party/masquerade, because that would be easy to cross departments and even universes in - so long as you could think of an excuse (even a flimsy one) to handwave your muse into that time period, you’d be good. I want it as inclusive as possible, and hopefully something that might last longer than a couple days because then no one has to worry about missing things because of work/timezones/what have you.

Any thoughts? People interested? Better ideas? I literally want to hear everyone’s opinion on this, don’t think because we haven’t talked I don’t. So either comment on here or reblog whatever you’d like. I’ll be in and out today, but keeping an eye on this as much as I can.

What criticism feels like to a creative person

Browsing Reddit, I came across an extremely effective post about why some creatives respond very poorly to criticism, or even for those of us who respond well, why it can feel like an attack even though in your head you know it isn’t.

Criticism creates a mental conflict, but not always that kind.

Imagine if you wrote a final essay for your literature class, really did your best on it, turned it in, and the teacher gave it 100%. Elated, you take it home to show it off to your dad. Your dad says “You got a D? You really should have tried harder.” You think WTF, you squint at the paper and you’re pretty damn sure it says 100%, A+, Good work. But your dad says “No, it clearly says 63%, D-, disappointing.” Then you start to realize you’re living in some kind of warped reality where your dad sees something on the paper completely different than what you see, and you start wondering if you even know what’s real anymore.

This is what it feels like to get a criticism. It casts into doubt your own definition of “good” which is probably the basis of your entire creative process. It’s not even an issue of admitting weakness. Admitting weakness is easy. What’s not easy is having your instincts cast into doubt and not knowing whether to trust  yourself anymore.

  • Do I trust this critic?
  • Do I trust myself? Some combination of the two?
  • Do I stand by my decisions or not?
  • Do I make changes even though I don’t understand how they will help?
  • Will the changes completely undermine the artistic vision I wanted for this?
  • Will it defeat the whole point I was going for?
  • I can’t feel the emotional reasoning behind making changes, so how will I know if my change is for the better or worse?
  • Is the critic just not the right audience for this? Is the critic biased? Is the critic just having a bad day?
  • Should I ignore them altogether, and just keep doing this for the people who like it?
  • Are my fans wrong and simpleminded?
  • Am I even doing anything of significance?
  • Should I give up here?

These are all questions which artists ask themselves when they receive criticism. They’re tricky, ambiguous questions that don’t always have a correct answer. Many newcomers don’t even know how to approach these questions, so criticism can often feel like a personal attack even if both sides mean well.

That’s not to say that criticism itself is bad, but if you get a better idea of what a criticism is doing psychologically to the receiver, you might find yourself offering more effective, well-received advice.

This ties in pretty closely to the advice I often give on this very blog, about how to deal with negative feedback; above all, trying not to dwell on it. Before you give any response, always take time to calm down.

This is a pretty universal problem that affects all creatives across all media. You’d have to be as emotionless as a stone to not fall prey to it occasionally.

Part of being a writer is building up creative confidence. This is the faith in yourself to be able to write something and put it out into the world, and to know, deep down, that this work has value, to you and to your audience.

You may, later, discover that this work isn’t all that good, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that it was a stepping stone to the person you are now, and the work you’re producing today.

Whenever you create a piece of work, make sure you internalise why you made that work. What it meant to you. It doesn’t matter if that work was a prize-winning literary novel or a scrawling of Vegeta from DBZ drawn in pencil on lined paper. If the work expresses something you can’t contain, something you have to get down on paper, over time you’ll develop the creative confidence to accept that even if it’s “bad”, that isn’t what’s important. The end result isn’t as important as the work itself.

Creative Confidence isn’t something you just develop overnight. It takes work. It’ll probably take a few embarrassing moments too, and those will be the hurtful types that’ll lead to “arguments you win in the shower” 5 years later. It takes different durations for different people. However, if you work at it, it’s something I believe is within the reach of everyone.

Find your Creative Confidence; I’m sure you can.

And we’re back! Sort of. The con isn’t till next weekend, so I’ll still have spotty attendance here, BUT I did manage to finish this in between it all. Is it worth the wait? Eh, not really. XD There had been a few asks about Sombra, one of which mentioned Sassy Zenyatta getting hacked and losing shields so I mostly played off that scenario. Thinking about it, a hacked Zenyatta isn’t that intimidating – but an angry Symmetra will wreck your shit (this is possibly a side effect of me playing so much D.Va).

Also apparently I’m putting half a gram more effort into these after the McHanzo thing I did. Dl; I’m concerned I’m going to end up making them take longer due to me dropping half assed in favor of 3 quarter assed levels of effort.

More Overwatch things

i’ve been getting a lot of messages lately (and unsurprisingly, considering how unrepentantly i’ve been reblogging stuff from them) from followers asking me for podcast recommendations - and i love getting those so thank you, guys! - and i thought i’d make a masterpost of what i’ve both a) finished and b) enjoyed since i’ve started bingeing them.  and, as an extra added bonus, what has canonical lgbt+ representation (since i know what you guys are into [waggles eyebrows]).

1. the bright sessions

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is definitely the first podcast that i’ve fallen in love with as hard as my original gateway podcast: welcome to night vale.  it’s so well-written, the characters well-drawn, the premise fascinating - atypicals, or people with some sort of special ability, in therapy - and it’s such a positive story and experience that i can’t help but feel better on days i listen to it.  it really believes in humanity and that’s such a wonderful thing in this day and age.  plus, the voice acting is killer.

2. eos 10

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i don’t think it’s been officially confirmed that dr. dalias is, at the very least, bisexual (in fact, the official channels seem to be dancing around it, possibly so as not to spoil anything in the upcoming season), though it’s been hinted at plenty in story.  especially as i don’t know how else you can explain a supposedly “straight” male character getting called out on repeatedly thinking about a naked man during a group mind-link experience.  that aside, it is freaking hilarious.  the premise is doctors in space, one formerly drug-addicted doctor helping to stabilize a currently alcoholic one with amazing side characters including nurse jane johns and levi, a hypochondriac alien and deposed prince who seems to have a personal vendetta against wearing pants.  it’s well-acted, cleverly written and a freaking joy to listen too.  so funny and so smart, i can’t recommend it enough!

3. the penumbra podcast

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  so much queer representation it’s bananas.  this ask the creators got is actually pretty representative of their approach to the show, slyly funny and very gay.  our main character is a genderbending queer private investigator who’s lost his heart head over a sweet-smelling thief with a heart of gold and more aliases than jennifer garner, all set against a noir backdrop.  oh, and on mars.  yeah, you read all of that right.  there are a few awesome side stories as well, including a couple of horror ones (that have no effect on the main juno steel story line, so can be skipped - and the creators are VERY GOOD about warning what’s to come in the episode notes), as well as lesbian outlaws and a disabled knight.  there’s literally nothing not to love.  EXCEPT FOR HOW JUNO STEEL WON’T LET HIMSELF HAVE NICE THINGS.

4. the black tapes

hey, hi, if you’re into horror, suspense, creepery or demons, this is so very much for you.  the premise is that alex reagan, our host, begins a podcast to interview people with interesting professions.  she starts out with dr. richard strand, a paranormal investigator whose mission statement is to debunk all things paranormal.  he even has an institute that offers a one million dollar prize for proof of the paranormal, which he has never even come close to having to part with.  while alex is interviewing him, she comes across a handful of black vhs tapes: the only cases that strand hasn’t been able to definitively solve yet.  the technology to disprove these incidents simply hasn’t come far enough, in his opinion.  needless to say, she never moves on from dr. strand and the mystery of the black tapes.  each episode, alex investigates another of the black tapes and much later on realizes it’s possible that they’re all connected.  oh my god, i almost got chills just writing that, it’s so good, it’s so real, because dr. strand is such a good anchor to reality.  alex will occasionally lose her skeptic’s perspective; dr. strand does not.  and once alex starts experiencing intense insomnia, making you realize your narrator might not be so reliable?  things somehow manage to get even murkier.  i really, really adored this one.  it’s paranormal set in the most normal of normal worlds, only making it that much spookier.

5. wooden overcoats

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  okay, well, if you’ve ever watched black books?  this is kind of like black books, aka one of my all-time favorite shows.  rudyard funn is just as incapable and universally disliked as bernard black, which was all well and good when the village of piffling vale (which is very nearly a town, you know!) only had one funeral home to choose from.  unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore.  eric chapman has moved his funeral home right across the street and stolen all the business from rudyard, his embalmer (cum part-owner) and twin sister, antigone, and georgie, their assistant.  to add insult to injury, he’s charming and universally adored by everyone except those at funn funerals.  very british, very ridiculous, and very funny!  WE GET THE BODY IN THE COFFIN IN THE GROUND ON TIME.  (well, like that one time they did.  [coughs])

6. ars pardoxica

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i listened to this one pretty slowly, for me.  it’s very much plot over character, at least in my opinion.  which is fair since there’s quite a lot of plot and set dressing to establish.  we’re following (dr.) sally grissom, a scientist from the twenty-first century who accidentally creates time travel and ends up stuck back in the 1940s.  think a bombs and eisenhower.  it was always interesting, and the paradoxes created by the time travel experiments they kept doing were fascinating (i love time travel stuff because of the paradoxes it creates) but i didn’t get really ravenous for it until season two, which is when i really felt it picked up speed.  you’ve got anthony stuck in a literal CAGE - a “blackroom” bubble set outside of time, sally trying to garden (oh god), a gang consisting of a veteran, a (former) widow and time doubles trying to bring down ODAR (the company sally used to work for, and that anthony still does) and esther sliding down the ladder of morally unsound one determined rung at a time and it makes for a REALLY grabbing audio drama, eh?

7. the strange case of starship iris

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i’m already in love with violet liu, all right?  she’s a science officer on starship iris–well, what was starship iris.  when we first join violet, every single one of her crew mates has just died in an explosion on the pod they were traveling off ship with and the starship iris is in its last throes as well.  luckily(?) a passing ship comes along with a plan to get her to safety.  this has a real illuminae vibe to it (which is an amazing book btw) and all the characters are already so freaking likable.  it’s only on episode two and already shaping up to be a favorite!

8. the orbiting human circus (of the air)

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  if there’s a more heart-warming podcast out there, then i haven’t run across it yet.  first of all, julian koster’s voice is so vulnerable and soft that i would use myself and everyone i know and also puppies as a shield against everything terrible in the universe for him.  second, the rest of the cast - leticia especially - is just as freaking talented.  the premise is that julian is the janitor at a radio show that broadcasts from the top of the eiffel tower and has strange and impossible acts every night, from tale-telling crickets to singing saws to the orkestral, a bird that can play every orchestral instrument (except that it refuses to play the viola, because reasons).  it’s fun and cute and breaks your heart with happiness regularly and often!

9. alice isn’t dead

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is a horror podcast about a truck driver who is looking for her missing wife.  jasika nicole has to have one of my favorite voices around and having it be so heavily dependent on that makes me ridiculously happy.  throw in the story-telling of joseph fink, the depth and cohesiveness of his writing, and there is nothing not to love here.

10. within the wires

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is really sufficiently creepy considering it’s not often overtly creepy.  this is set up as a series of relaxation tapes, which progressively get more and more interested in helping the listener break out of the facility in which she’s being kept.  super chilling at times, because the voice is so calm and the action so dangerous.

11. welcome to night vale

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  okay, well, what more can be said about this at this point?  if you’re not listening to it, you’re wrong.  why wouldn’t you want to visit a town that can’t be visited and where every conspiracy theory is real and a part of everyday life?  yeah, everyone knows about the vague yet menacing government agency, steve carlsberg, you’re not hitting on anything new there.  there’s a dog park that doesn’t allow dogs, angels that are never to be identified as angels, mountains that aren’t real, a glow cloud that–ALL HAIL and a love story so complete and perfect that it can and will utterly steal your breath at times.  go, listen, inhale.

I am a volunteer patient escort at planned parenthood

This is something I just shared on FB about my experiences as a patient escort. Just thought I’d put it on here too.

Alright y'all. Prepare for a long post, but one you should read.

Some of you know, but some of you don’t, that I volunteer at Planned Parenthood about twice a month. My official title is Volunteer Clinic Escort. My role is to safely get patients and family into the clinic safely, with privacy, and with a friendly face. Not all Planned Parenthoods (PP) have these, but the clinic where I volunteer does because we have loud, abrasive, volatile, threatening, verbally abusive and dishonest anti-choice protesters who harass people in the clinic. I would like to tell you about my experiences with them and with patients who talk to me as I stand outside with my umbrella and vest.

(I would like to note that this is not the place to tell me that abortion is wrong, that I should not support PP, that I need to stop what I’m doing. I’ve heard every argument before. In fact, I’ve had every arguement screamed in my face. You’re welcome to your opinion, but I will not be acknowledging it on here, and I ask that others ignore dissenters too. This post isn’t about me and why you think I’m wrong. It’s about what I see every time I volunteer.)

When I am volunteering, I am outside and often have patients and family members talk with me. I’m obviously not there to counsel or to offer advice medically one way or another, but I am a friendly ear and people just need to talk sometimes. Also, when volunteering, patients entering the clinic are verbally harassed by the anti choice protesters almost immediately and, while we don’t encourage it, they often yell back. The protesters don’t listen.

On my very first day, I had a person head into the clinic. As I smiled to her and went to get the door, an anti-choice protester (ACP) yelled “Mama! Don’t kill your baby!” The patient immediately responded tearfully “my baby is dead. My baby is falling out of me right now. I didn’t do anything.” The ACP, without missing a beat, screamed back through her child-sized megaphone “No he isn’t! Your doctor lied to you! These murderers just want your money!” I ushered in the patient as gently as I could while my co-volunteer told her kindly that those people didn’t matter and that in a week they wouldn’t even remember what they heard here.

In the year and a half I’ve been doing this, we have had a ACP sneak into the clinic and threaten to burn the place down. The police did nothing. We had two other ACPs try and enter the clinic to tell patients they would adopt their babies. We told them to get off the property and when they didn’t, we called the police. Eventually the ACP returned to the narrow strip of lawn they stand on at the edge of the parking lot, and luckily so, because the police never showed again.

My clinic, luckily, has never faced extreme violence while I was there. But other PP and health care clinics are not so lucky. They are burned down, have bombs planted, have clinic escorts and workers physically harmed.

They are shot at and three people die.

I have had patients tell me that they will be killed by their partner if they have an abortion. I have been told that their partner will kill them if they DON’T have one. I’ve been told how people with physical disabilities cannot carry a child without side effects so severe they may not survive. I’ve had patients explain that their mental health is at risk if they go through with the pregnancy. I’ve had patients come in with a wanted pregnancy that ended in miscarriage and they needed PPs help to safely remove the tissue. I’ve seen people come in who admit to being addicted to drugs and know they cannot go through this pregnancy.

Planned Parenthood helped all these people, not just with medical care, but with helping abused patients find help to escape violent partners. Helping those who want to conceive find fertility doctors. Helping drug addicts find resources to become healthy.

All the while, the ACP stand outside, screaming and hollering, telling women that they are murderers and whores and that they will burn for murdering their babies. But it’s ok, they do it out of love. They scream at these people and tell them awful things and then beg to have the patient come talk with them.

They don’t see the hypocrisy.

It is a rule to not engage with the ACP at all. In the year and a half I’ve been doing this, I’ve said maybe a total of 50 words to the group, all of which are some form of “you are on our property, step back right now.” I may not engage them, but we can make eye contact and make them believe we are listening. We do this so the ACP begins shouting at me, and not a patient getting air outside. I would much rather be shouted at than have them scream at a patient.

When I am being yelled at, I have been called: a murderer, a nazi, a slavery supporter, a bad mother, a bad wife (they do not know if I am married or if I have children), a witch, a lesbian, a liberal, a member of satan’s army, a Muslim lover, a bitch, a slut, and evil. Some of these things are true and some are perfectly fine things to be, but to the ACP they are all bad.

Sometimes we have patient partners come talk to the protesters. They try and explain to the ACP why they are there with their partner. I’ve heard them tell the ACP every single reason, and every single time, the protesters still tell them they are wrong and a bad father and a supporter of Satan. Every. Time. And they call this love.

Since Trump took office, one of his first orders signed was a Global Gag Rule. People thought that this rule meant that no US money would go to pay for abortions overseas, but in fact, US funds have never paid for abortions and haven’t since 1973. Even in the US, because of the Hyde Amendment, no federal funding goes to pay for abortions.

What this gag rule now does, however, is prevent money from going to clinics that even mention abortion as a method of family planning. They don’t have to perform them. If they are mentioned at all in pamphlets or classes, they lose foreign aid money. This means that now they can’t provide birth control, wellness checks, prenatal care, or classes.

This will cause unwanted pregnancies. This will cause people to seek out abortions, often in unsafe condition.

This will cause people to die.

Roughly 1/3 people with a uterus will have an abortion in their life. I haven’t spoken to everyone who has had one, but I’ve spoken to more than most. No one gets an abortion out of malice. No one gets an abortion just to end the life of a fetus, just for kicks. No. One.

Planned Parenthood provides important health services, including abortion. They do this despite the risk of physical bodily harm, every day. People like myself stand outside PP to protect patients because it is important.

We. Will. Not. Stand. Down.

I will continue to volunteer, even though since Trump was elected, the ACP have gotten more and more aggressive in their tactics, since they believe Trump supports their actions. I will continue to walk these patients inside, to get help, because it is important and right. I will continue to fight Trump the slew of anti choice people supporting him. I will continue to support choice even though I know I will lose friends and will face hatred from people I know.

Planned Parenthood is important, and we will not stand down.

Let’s hear it for the ones who are doing everything right, but still have symptoms.

The ones struggling to find the right treatment, putting up with side effects and still not getting any relief.

The ones who found something that worked… until it didn’t, and now have to start all over again.

I know it’s frustrating. But please, keep going. You’ll get there.

Out of all the signs, I worry about Sagittarius the most.

I feel that most people dismiss Sagittarius as being the happy, optimistic, funny, and reckless sign, which is most definitely true. It’s overwhelmingly true to the point where I feel like people aren’t emotionally concerned with them enough. They always look so laid back and relaxed to where I feel like some people wouldn’t even really know if they were suffering on the inside. I feel that people wouldn’t ask because the emotional issues are hidden behind their goofy nature.

People always mention the earth and water signs being the signs that often hide their emotional trauma the most, which is true. But I feel that Sagittarius hides their traumas in such a way where it’s truly hidden. You can tell when a Cancer is sad, or when a Scorpio is thinking intensely about something. But Sagittarius? You can’t have an effective emotional reading on someone who looks fine. People wouldn’t think of Sagittarius first when it comes to a sign that’s sad, but I feel that Sagittarius may be the saddest sign of them all. If anything, they use humor and joy as a coping mechanism, which is the most effective way to hide any pain you have.

Sagittarius also rules over philosophy, for they seek the truth. Throughout their lives, they’ve probably discovered how ugly the world can be. Sagittarius is admirable because they are probably aware of the negative side of the world, but they still choose to look at the world in an optimistic light. They still choose to have hope in the world, even if they may be hurting inside.

Medical School Resources! (and other human biology,physiology,biochemistry-related resources)

Hi Everyone!

Update: I am now officially done with my second year! I know i’ve been MIA on here for a while now - but that’s only because I was drowning in textbooks and assignments! I will be writing a whole other post on what my second year in medical school was like - so watch out for that :)

I, for one, can not just rely on one method of learning. Meaning, I’ll jump from videos, to textbooks, to flashcards. In this post I’m going to list some of my holy grail youtube channels that have helped saved me.

1) Handwritten Tutorials

https://www.youtube.com/user/harpinmartin

Every video in this channel is short, but not so much that you feel like you’re missing out on information. Definitely one to save as a favourite!

2) Armando Hasudungan

https://www.youtube.com/user/armandohasudungan

The best thing about this channel is the fact that there are over 300 videos, covering a wide range of core topics in endocrinology, neurology, physiology and pharmacology. Another pro is the presentation of topics (otherwise considered snooze-worthy) in an artistic manner!

3) Speed Pharmacology

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-i2EBYXH6-GAglvuDIaufQ

Raise your hand if you’ve ever fallen asleep trying to read about the mechanism of action of opioids, their side effects and contraindications. I know I have. Fret not, for this youtube channel will introduce you to a world where pharmacology is actually interesting.

4) Wendy Riggs

https://www.youtube.com/user/wendogg1

Wendy Riggs is a very down-to-earth professor in Northern California, and she covers a wide range of  topics in Anatomy, Physiology and General Biology.

5) Anatomy Zone

https://www.youtube.com/user/TheAnatomyZone

A better way to learn anatomy is to supplement your textbook information with videos from this channel. The explanations and visuals provided are absolute gold.

I hope you all find these channels as helpful as I did!

If you don't mind me asking, do you have any recommendations for Check, Please fanfic?? Like what are your favorite ones? Bitty and Jack are just so cute and every time I read a fic I just want to read more! Also, I love your blog so much. Your tags are always so funny 💛

I’ve been waiting for someone to ask me about this.

I’ve hit art block something fierce on all my projects (a common side effect after a busy show and all the prep work that goes into it) combined with only being in the studio 3 days this week and having to move next week, I’m trying to unblock by drawing literally anything that comes to mind and all I can think of is skeleton dragons.

Inspired by @mnstrcndy and their amazing renditions of GB Swap Papyrus, I took a shot at Underfell GB Sans, and how I imagine kid Papyrus would react to that in the Underfell AU

(Note: I headcanon that the UF skelebros act similar to their original incarnations, just meaner, more cynical, and with darker senses of humor, kinda how the Addams family movies work.)

It is never too late to be evaluated for ADHD.

If you look at lists of symptoms/checklists intended for adults and have that moment of “oh shit, that’s me,” get evaluated.

Just because one doctor/psychologist/therapist/school counselor told you once that you don’t have ADHD because ______ doesn’t mean they were right. (Especially if you’re smart, good at school, or do well when tested–people who don’t know ADHD very well might try to tell you that you don’t have it. They could be wrong.)

Trying medication is worth it. And it’s never too late to try!

The right medication is like having glasses, but for your brain. It doesn’t cure anything, but makes it so you can function more like someone who doesn’t have ADHD/bad vision.

Stimulant medications in particular have been in use for nearly a hundred years now. Taken as prescribed they have an excellent safety record. If they caused problems long-term we would know by now.

Finding the right medication/dosage is not always easy. Don’t give up because you try one medication and don’t like it. Tell your provider what you did and didn’t like about it and ask to try something else.

(That said, many side effects are temporary. Again, talk to your provider.)

If you have ADHD, the right medication can significantly ease your depression and/or anxiety. It will also make all of your current coping methods for your ADHD much, much easier.

huge spider in the kitchen. steve and i both tried to jump into eachothers arms to escape, collided in mid air, and both got knocked out. spider vanished. we have to burn the tower down

You know what else I don’t get about ADHD? We have to go through hell and back and bounce between doctors and psychologists for months to get diagnosed but once you do your doctor just writes you a prescription without any advice and without bothering to tell you that

  • you’re not supposed to eat grapefruit when taking ADHD medication
  •  you can’t eat or drink citrus fruit, soda, Gatorade, and anything carbonated an hour before and after taking your medication
  • you should monitor your heart rate if you take the decongestant psuedophedrine when you have adderall in your system because it also has the side effect of increased heart rate
  • you should really avoid caffeine when on adderall (haha I know we’re all hooked on caffeine) but lots of people with add feel like they need to be drinking a “study beverage” like coffee/energy drinks constantly while working. Give your adderall the 1-3 hours it needs to kick in before you do this, drink a placebo beverage like decaf tea instead

I’m not a pharmacist, none of this is medical advice, but as the girl who used to start her day with a whole grapefruit and glass of orange juice… I wish I’d known this. I got more instructions for my strep throat medication then I ever got for adderall.

BS Medical Tropes that Need to Die, 2/? : Making People Unconscious

For Part 1 of the BS Medical Tropes series, click here!

So I got an ask the other night about a character choosing not to kill people, but knocks them out with blows to the head instead. And it’s not an unreasonable thing for writers to think is legitimate. In fact, in fiction, there are dozens of ways to produce unconsciousness! A sharp hit to the head; a sedative drug injected right into the neck, bro!, or even Darkly Dreaming Dexter with his special horse paralytic.

Hell, on Person of Interest the main characters routinely produce unconscious enemy combatants by shooting them in the @$#RY)G!@#% knees

Here’s the thing: Every single one of those is complete bullshit.

Poppycock. Nincompoopery. Asscrap. And you’d realize that it’s a crock of crap if you thought about it this way for even half a minute:

Successful People Start Before They Feel Ready

“If you’re working on something important, you’ll never feel ready. A side effect of doing challenging work is that you’re pulled by excitement and pushed by confusion at the same time.” – James Clear

The Start-Up Guy is well underway. I have been working with several businesses, including a very exciting Johannesburg-based business which is launching in the next two months. I am so honoured that they used and continue to use my services.

I’ve noticed a common trait amongst all the guys and girls I’ve been working with recently, and I thought it might be useful to share because I think many other people are experiencing the same thing.

Almost all entrepreneurs don’t know what they’re doing and it’s perfectly okay. In fact, I don’t know of a single one who, at the outset, knew exactly what they needed to do and when to do it. Before your mind does that thing where it jumps to conclusions, let me explain.

A start-up is an experiment, a matter of trial and error. No one can be fully certain about the route it will take. At best, one can have a firm idea of the intended outcome, but whether that transpires is all dependent on the market’s response to your idea (and who really knows what that’ll be? Right?).

Sir Richard Branson has one of the most interesting entrepreneurial stories, for me, because he started many of his companies largely by mistake. He dropped out of school to continue a magazine business he had no idea was going to sustain him. As a way to grow his magazine sales, he started distributing music records made by unknown artists to his readers, and so began the journey of Virgin Records. He started Virgin Airlines after he was delayed by his flight facing maintenance issues before take-off. This guy is the epitome of just getting on with it. This guy is also worth $5 Billion today!

As an entrepreneur and business owner you have to embrace the learning process and continuously learn (by doing). Learn your market, learn your business, and continuously adapt your learnings to suit your market as you go. The entrepreneurs who embrace the learning process and respond to unexpected events in real time are often the ones who do very well.

Without babbling on for too long, the moral of the story is that not knowing what to do is not a good enough reason to not start your business. Passion and a basic idea is enough. Even if you are physically incapable of carrying out certain tasks, outsourcing skills is a thing (like helluurrr, this is why people like me are here). It is no mistake that one of the single most important traits that investors look for in entrepreneurs is passion, especially in the very early stages of a start-up. Not “intelligence.” Not qualifications. Passion (synonymous with commitment/dedication in this regard). A founder who is not passionate about what they are doing will give up when they face the inevitable hurdles of starting a business. Passion is the fuel by which a project goes from start-up to a fully-fledged business.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that you can go and start the next big business with the technical skills of a toddler. I am merely saying that, within reason, you can start a business without the technical know-how, as long as you have the dedication to follow through with the necessary steps. In doing so, be realistic, tread carefully and always consult a professional when you’re thinking about making an expensive decision.

If whilst reading this article you had a certain project or idea in mind, maybe it’s time to pursue it with everything you have. Why aren’t you? That was not a rhetorical question. Like Richard Branson famously said, “screw it. Just get on and do it.” If you are really struggling with how to conceptualise or begin your business, consult me and we can find a solution together.

Once again, thank you for reading.

About that cosplay you posted. How do you keep your boobies so perfectly in place? Hope this doesnt come off as weird but as a fellow cosplayers im really curious

i used handy dandy tape! in my 2016 anime expo photoshoot i was just using masking tape to hold up my bongos which is NOT SAFE for skin at all. so i suggest using tape that is meant for skin, like the sports kind. when i took it off at the end of the day, it ripped off some skin too;;; ouch. i was bruised and bleeding and it wasn’t fun.

I also tried these breast lift and nipple covers but they weren’t that effective.

anyways tape yourself up a bra but without the middle part. secure the tape on the bottom of your bosom and lift all the way past your collar bone. i even had pieces going around the back of my neck for extra security. its esp hard when you have big and heavy boobies like me. it looked something like kim k here:

and then to keep the jacket secured to my chest, i used double sided tape that IS meant for the bodies (usually for low cut dresses)

this is the brand i use!

hope that helps for anyone else planning to cosplay open-chested characters :)

go follow and ask questions on my cosplay blog i just started if you want more ! i won’t be posting cosplay stuff here anymore

BTS Reactions To Catching You Pleasuring Yourself

♡Seokjin♡:

Jin thought his ears were playing a trick on him, when he heard the distinct sound of your high pitch moan resonate through the house. He had just been on his way to meet the boys  when he realized that he had forgotten his wallet. He had expected to find you on the couch either talking to a friend, or watching your favourite drama, but was surprised to be met with silence. That was until he heard it. Your moan. He had heard it too many times before to not be able to recognize it.

He was quiet as he neared the bedroom you two shared, your moans getting louder and louder the closer he got. He could feel himself immediately becoming hard when he heard his name leave your lips in a breathy moan. His lust getting the better of him, he couldn’t stop himself as he pushed the door open. He gave you no time to react to being caught, as he quickly made his way to you, pinning you to the bed.

Fuck baby, is this what you do when I’m not home?” He whispered into your ear. At the question, you could feel your cheeks flush as you shyly tried to look away, but Jin was having none of that.

Gently gripping your chin, he turned your head so you’d be looking at him, “am I not satisfying you enough?” However, the question was not posed at you but rather himself. Before you could respond, his lips were already molded to yours. With only thoughts of making you feel good running through his head, his hand caressed down your body to replace where yours had been seconds ago.

♡Yoongi♡:

You let out a frustrated sigh, as you thought back to the morning.

“Mmm baby,” you heard Yoongi murmur against you, his arm around your waist loosening.

“Hmm?“ You  mumbled, curling more into his chest.

You were answered by silence. You smiled, as you began wonder if he had fallen back asleep. Before you could turn your head and check for yourself, you felt him press his lips against your bare shoulder. You were wide awake as he continued to kiss along your exposed back. As you felt the hand that had been around your waist begin to slither down in between your thighs, you couldn’t help but wait in anticipation. But nothing came. Instantly, all sensations were gone as the bed dipped and he got up.

You swiveled your head to look at him, "Yoongi what the hell?”

“Sorry Y/N, I have dance practice I can’t be late,” he smirked.

Your eyes narrowed at the memory; because of your teasing boyfriend you had been feeling beyond needy the whole day. However, you refused to play his game.

-

You had thought you’d be fine. You had sworn to yourself that you’d be fine, but the effect he had on you was strong. You tentatively turned your head to the side to make sure Yoongi was asleep before you slipped your hand down your pj shorts.

You were close when you suddenly felt the heat of Yoongi’s intense stare on you. No words were spoken as he moved down your body, his head coming to rest between your thighs.

“Jagiya, if you were this horny you should’ve just told me,” he smirked.

You were just about to tell him it was his fault when you felt his tongue against you, instantly shutting you up.

♡Hoseok♡:

“Jagiya wake up,” you heard a voice call as they shook you awake.

With your cheeks flushed, your eyes slowly opened to find Hoseok hovering above you. He looked worried.

“Oh thank God. Were you having a nightmare Y/N?” He asked, relieved to finally see you awake. Your tongue practically dried as you recalled very vividly what your dream had been about, or rather who it had been about.

“Uh,” you said awkwardly, “no…why?”

“You were making strange sounds,” he pointed out. With a puzzled look he continued, “well if it wasn’t a nightmare then what w-oh.” He abruptly paused as the realization dawned on his face. You were far too embarrassed to say anything. You couldn’t even look Hoseok straight in the eyes. You bit your lip hoping you could just disappear when you suddenly felt Hoseok press a kiss against your neck.

“You have nothing to be embarrassed about,” he reassured you, “however,” he paused, “I’d like it if you could tell me what it was about.”

Your eyes widened in surprise. Your mouth formed words before you could even think, “I-i had been uh…touching myself when you walked in and um you kind of helped me with that.”

“How?” He asked with blown pupils. You hesitantly looked towards the zipper of his pants. Following your line of vision he understood.

“Would you like me to turn that dream into reality Jagiya?” He whispered into your ear.

♡Namjoon♡:

If you had asked Namjoon what was going through his mind, when he heard your soft moans coming from the bedroom, he wouldn’t have been able to tell you. He wasn’t even sure himself.

You had been so lost in your own euphoria, that you hadn’t heard the door open. All you know is that you had been in the process of pleasuring yourself when Namjoon suddenly burst through the door.

Startled, your eyes were wide as you looked at him. The second you saw his face you could feel yourself shrink back. He looked absolutely furious. You watched as he crazily searched your room trying to find something or someone. However, he found nothing making what you had been doing to yourself only moments ago crystal clear.

“Namjoon?” You called questioningly, as you finally understood. You had initially thought that his anger was due to you pleasuring yourself without him, but were slightly hurt as you began to understand what had really upset him.

He ran a hand down his face and you couldn’t help but notice his jaw clenching, “fuck Y/N, I thought-I don’t know what I was thinking-fuck I’m so stupid.”

“Namjoon do you not trust me?” The hurt on your face instantly sprung him into action as he got on his knees and began apologizing, “I do! Jagiya I do! I’m just stupid okay? You’re so damn perfect, that I can’t help but get worried sometimes.”

Your eyes softened as you felt the sincerity in his words. You’d forgive him just this time.

However, when he heard you say nothing he panicked,“Y/N, let me make it up to you.”

Curious you raised an eyebrow at him, “how?”

He looked as if he was in pain as the words left his mouth, "I’ll let you be in charge today.” You nearly laughed at how desperate he was to get you to forgive him. For someone as dominate as Namjoon, letting you have control was crazy. You couldn’t let this opportunity slip by. With an eager smile, you agreed.
