Phoenix I need your help! I'm a newly aware bi woman (thanks internalized biphobia), and I'm married to a man. I haven't come out yet though. My 10 yr old daughter just told me she thinks she's bi, and that she has crushes on girls. I've told her I'm proud of her and that she's amazing to have realized this already in her life. How do I encourage her to be herself but also to protect herself from the rural dipshit homophobia within our small town? How do I help her become her best gay self?
You are so sweet and wonderful and truly the best type of parent!!! I’m not a parent and never will be, so I don’t know how much I can help, but the best things my parents did for me was to stand up for me in public when people acted homophobic, and tell me they loved me regardless of who I dated. I recommend talking to Rubia, @vibey-lesbian, her mother is amazing and she made a post about it once that really moved me. Also @phd-mama is a wonderful bi mom with bi kids, and @laynefaire is a wonderful parent to a lesbian daughter! They would probably be very helpful resources. Congrats to you and your daughter love!
