i have a jew nose

I totally get why some Jewish people are upset with some Taako designs but like… can I also say that as a Jew I love it when Jewish characters have big noses and people shouldn’t be dissuaded from drawing those? There are Jews who have big noses and are insecure about them and that’s why it’s important to you know, give them representation that isn’t antisemitic cartoons. It gets gross when a character with stereotypically Jewish personality traits is given stereotypically Jewish physical traits. But Taako doesn’t have negative/stereotypical Jewish characterization.

Idk man. I don’t think asking artists to be more sensitive with marginalized groups is the same as banning them from drawing those groups, and an artist who thinks that’s the case is just unwilling to put in the work to be respectful. But the hat is part of Taako’s design and almost every artist includes it. So this kind of just seems like it’s removing the prospect of Jewish-hc'ed Taakos and that sucks.

Okay, here's why your big nose jokes aren't funny, goyim.

I can’t laugh when a goy makes a joke about Jews having big noses when I’ve also been sincerely told that our noses make us more vulture than human. I can’t laugh when a goy makes a jews are greedy joke when I’ve been told that we were the downfall of the German economy. I can’t laugh at a holocaust joke when my family would possibly be twice as big if not for the holocaust. Goyim, your Jew jokes aren’t funny.

Edit: goyim can reblog.

Today on “the internet is ridiculous” someone asked if I was Jewish and when I told them I wasn’t, they told me that I must be lying as I have a “Jew nose” in my profile picture. Like… Mate, seriously. This is 2017, antisemitism shouldn’t be a thing, and noses do not denote religion.

I feel like I have the stereotypical “Jew nose,” and my hatred towards my nose has kind of intertwined with a shame of my background, even though I’m not at all religious…this musician and comedian, Dan Avidan, has kind of helped me move past the cultural shame, and a couple people have said I look like Jenny Slate, which made me feel better about the nose part. It’s made me realize how important representation is, all across the board.
