The Reason I Don’t Do Cold Readings Anymore…

by reddit user Skarjo

I don’t do ‘Cold Readings’ anymore. I don’t tell fortunes. I don’t read tea leaves.

And I do not do contact ‘the other side’.

Look, don’t judge me alright? It was an easy gig. I mean, the first time I did it, it was a joke. I did it just to impress a girl. You’ve been there right? It was something I’d read about online and I thought I’d give it a go.

Former neo-Nazi removes swastika tattoos after unlikely friendship
Michael Kent began the process of covering the symbol after forming an unlikely friendship with his African-American parole officer.
By ABC News

“Kent, a former neo-Nazi, credits an African-American parole officer named Tiffany Whittier with helping him to see beyond skin color and changing his views about white supremacy.

“If it wasn’t for her I would have seeped back into it,” said Kent. “I look at her as family.”

Whittier, 45, even inspired Kent, 38, to take down the Nazi flags he had hanging in his living room and replace them with smiley faces.

“I’m not here to judge him. That’s not my job to judge. My job is to be that positive person in someone’s life,” Whittier said.

Added Kent, “When you wake up and see a smiley face, you’re going to go to work and you’re going to smile.”

Kent now works full-time on a chicken farm in Colorado, where all his co-workers are Hispanic.

“Before all this, I wouldn’t work for anybody or with anybody that wasn’t white,” said Kent. “[Now] we have company parties, or they have quinceañeras, I’m the only white guy there!”

Redemption Ink, a national non-profit that offers free removals of hate-related tattoos, helped connect Kent with Fallen Heroes Tattoo in Colorado to begin the 15-hour process of covering his swastikas. The sterile environment is new to Kent who had his previous ink work done in prison.

“I’ve never, never, never been inside of a tattoo shop getting a professional tattoo,” he said.

Kent believes the painful process will help him move forward after spending years as a member of a violent skinhead group based in Arizona. As a father of two young children, Kent also hopes his children will see the world differently.

“I don’t want my kids to live the life I lived and live with hate,” said Kent. “I want my kids to know me for who I am now—a good father, a hard worker, and a good provider.””

Captain Steve Rogers, Lovecraftian Horror

Title: The Miskatonic Project
Rating: PG-13 for horror themes, death
Summary: Abraham Erskine may have invented something new with the Serum – or maybe he re-created something very old. Something…Elder.
Notes: I should be working on like three other fanfics but I had a TERRIBLE DREAM this afternoon and anyway this only took about half an hour to write.

***

Steve came out of the Vita-Ray machine…different.

Of course he looked different – taller, thickly muscled, skin gleaming. But it wasn’t the change in his appearance so much as the…sensation people felt around him. Howard claimed not to feel it, and Erskine died before he could weigh in. Peggy felt it, but not in the way others did. To her, he seemed otherworldly, but like an angel or a religious vision – comforting under a layer of unreality. She even liked the strange black pupils he’d developed, so big and dark you could hardly see the whites of his eyes at all.

Others, however….

She didn’t see him pull the Hydra agent out of the submarine after Erskine’s assassination. Only three people did – a cab driver, a little boy, and the boy’s mother. The cab driver wouldn’t say a word, and the boy’s mother stuttered and stammered so badly they finally gave up. The little boy just said, “Well, he got him,” and looked admiringly at Steve.

Steve wasn’t wet, but the submarine lay on the deck of the pier, and the man next to it was dead, a rictus of horror on his face.

Prompt: A combination of this “I want Tyrion and Sansa meeting again and Tyrion appreciating and actually listening to what Sansa has to say. And can you please put in jealous Jon there too? 😊” from @daredevil-karen-and-matt and “All I want is Ghost by Sansa’s side when J/D show up at WF and him growling at D.” from @ladyeliamm & “Definitely Ghost on Sansa’s side at all times especially when Jon returns.” from @qinaliel

“My Lady Sansa, it is a pleasure to see you again,” Tyrion says, striding forward to take her hand. Ghost lets out a low growl under his breath but remains unperturbed by the man. After many moons spent with the white wolf, she understands him nearly as well as she once understood her darling Lady. It is a warning, a territorial threat against harming his pack. Sansa is pleased to be apart of that pack, to even have a pack again.

“My lord,” she smiles. “It is my pleasure. I’m sorry we are not meeting under happier circumstances.” The clanking of metal upon metal as the winterly winds whip around them emphasises her point. Winter is here and the Army of the Dead is marching past the Wall. Times are as dire as they have ever been, yet Sansa finds peace settling in her soul rather than fear. If she is to die in this war, at least she will die with her pack.

“Very right, my lady,” Lord Tyrion says with a nod. He falls quiet as he takes in the busy courtyard, the men and women who rush back and forth with carts of grain, or the ones fitting boiled leather into the armour as she had requested. It is a sight to behold. The once quiet of Winterfell now lost to the chaos of impending war. Worry creases the lines on her people’s faces, turning children of ten and two into warriors, stripping them of a childhood they will never get back.

Sansa inhales deeply, trying to push away the ache of their loss. “The night is fast approaching. Soon, darkness will reach us. More than half of these people will be dead by the next moon.” She lets the breath escape, a swirling mist around her face, shadowed by the heavy clouds above. She returns her gaze back to Lord Tyrion. “And even if we win, what will we be left with?”

“Life,” he answers her with a sad smile. “Life, Lady Sansa. That is why we’re fighting at all, is it not? Is that not why we are all here?” He gestures to the preparations occurring around them. “Is that not why you have stood by your king and ruled in his stead?”

The question makes her laugh in spite of herself. She catches herself a second too late and Lord Tyrion casts a speculative gaze towards her. Sansa gives her head a little shake before walking towards the Great Keep, listening to the crunching of boots behind her as he follows. “My king,” she says, keeping her tone impassive. “Is that what I should still call him? Or should I be looking to your queen for commands now?”

Tyrion catches up to her. She isn’t walking fast after all. There is no place for her to be now that her king is home. “Lady Sansa, surely you know that it doesn’t matter who sits on the throne right now. We are fighting for life not a crown.”

“And surely, my lord, you know that the North is unlike anywhere else,” Sansa says, stopping just outside of the great oak doors to turn and look at him. “We are loyal to our own. Proud, stubbornly so, and war or not, the North will never yield to your queen. Our paths may have crossed in times of peace, but I fear when the war is done, if we still have breaths in our lungs, we may not be able to speak so candidly with one another again.”

There is a long pause as the man considers her words before his hand reaches out to clasp around her wrist. Sansa tenses, dread filling her veins. She reminds herself to relax at his touch. It is only Tyrion; he was good to her once.

“It would be a terrible fate if that is the case, my lady,” Tyrion sighs, though she sees the understanding in his eyes. Abruptly, his expression shifts and there’s a twinkle in his eyes as he smiles. “You have grown into quite a woman, my lady. I always knew you would survive us all.”

Sansa flushes and chuckles softly. “Mayhaps. I do think –”

“Sansa?”

She tenses again, but this time for an entirely different reason. Sansa turns, her heart seizing at the sight of Jon standing with the Dragon Queen, her hair as white as the snow swirling around them. She pulls her hand back from Tyrion’s grip and steels herself for the conversation to come.

“Jon,” she murmurs softly, polite but distant. Sansa is of the North, the blood of the First Men running through her, and it is that stubbornness that keeps her still loyal to Jon. She suspects she always will be. He is not just of her kin; he is her friend, her anchor in this world. But it still hurts like an arrow to the back to hear he has bent the knee to this foreign queen.

“I, uh…” Jon seems at a loss for words as he looks to Tyrion then to Sansa. It’s an inscrutable expression, but as quickly as it comes, it’s gone. He moves his gaze back to the woman by his side. “Oh. Sansa, this is Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen. Your grace, this is Sansa Stark, Lady of Winterfell. My… my sister.”

Daenerys smiles and her teeth glint against her pale skin and pale hair. Everything about her is so pale. She looks like a ghost, Sansa thinks, a dead thing walking in the world of the living. The Dragon Queen steps forward, her words abruptly dying in her throat, as Ghost lets out a deep, gutteral growl, teeth bared.

“Is that…”

“A direwolf, your grace,” Sansa says, placing a hand on top of Ghost’s furry head, trying to placate the great beast. “I must apologise. I don’t know what has gotten into him.” She catches Jon’s eye and he looks confused.

“Ghost, no,” he says sternly, but the direwolf blinks up at him, a whimper now replacing the growl. He, however, remains by Sansa’s side, still standing protectively in between Daenerys Stormborn and her. Jon’s confusion grows and he turns back to the foreign queen. “He is protective of his pack. I left him to take care of Sansa while I was away. I believe he is taking that quite seriously.”

“It’s not an issue, Jon,” she says quietly, smiling up at him. “I understand. Dragons and direwolves are not beasts easily tamed.”

Sansa bristles at the use of his name and Ghost seems to sense her change in mood as he begins to growl again, louder this time, more menacing as if Daenerys’ words had cut her like a physical lash across her skin instead of the wound deepening inside of her chest. She cards her fingers through Ghost’s fur and grips gently.

“I will take him inside,” Sansa announces. Jon looks ready to protest, his eyes widening and worry brimming in them like unshed tears, but she is good at putting on a mask. “I have matters to attend to so I must beg your leave, your grace. It was a pleasure to meet you.” She looks back to Jon. “Ghost, come.” The giant white wolf immediately falls back by her side and the two disappear back into the Great Keep. She hears the soft murmurs of conversation between the three of them, but she doesn’t need to hear what they have to say.

Ghost may not be hers. Ghost may always be a part of Jon and loyal to him above anyone else, but as she lies in bed that night, arms wrapped tightly around the great wolf, she draws comfort in his presence. If Ghost is still watching over her then Jon still loves her. He is still loyal to her and that is all she needs to know. For now, that has to be enough.

“Teddy?”

“Yes, nana,” replied Teddy sleepily as he yawned. It was a warm summer morning and he wasn’t used to waking up this early during summer.

“You’ve got mail,” said Andromeda with a grin on her face. “Want to open it?”

“Is it–”

“I don’t know,” she said with her eyebrow raised. “You are eleven after all.”

Teddy jumped from his bed and ran to where Andy was standing with a letter in her hand, no sign of his exhaustion from mere minutes ago. He didn’t wait for her to stretch out the letter, he snatched from her, his eyes filled with wonder.

He turned the letter around and saw the crimson wax seal stamp with the Hogwarts emblem on it. He tore it carefully, afraid of hurting whatever was inside. He pulled out the letter and dropped the envelope on the floor.

Dear Mr. Lupin,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

Teddy’s eyes grew twice the size and he looked up at his grandmother with such glee that Andromeda couldn’t help but get tears in her eyes.

“I wonder which house I’m going to be in,” he said as he read the letter once more. “I hope I’m in Gryffindor like my dad.”

“Well,” laughed Andy. “Your mum was a Hufflepuff and there’s nothing wrong with other houses, you know.”

“You were a Slytherin, right?”

“I sure was.”

“And Grandpa?”

“He was a Hufflepuff, too,” she replied as her eyes drifted off remembering the first time she saw Ted Tonks in 4th year with his yellow and purple scarf around his neck laughing at a joke one of his friends had told. “And you know Aunt Luna is a Ravenclaw.”

“I know but I’d rather be in Gryffindor or Hufflepuff,” he said with a sad face. “You know, like my parents.”

“The Sorting Hat is an incredible object dear,” said Andy with a soft smile. “I’m sure it will put you in the best house for you. So… pancakes for breakfast?”

“Yes!” exclaimed Teddy and he went back in his room to put his letter on his desk as his grandmother left for the kitchen. He then ran down the stairs to the kitchen hoping she was making the pancakes with magic. He wasn’t disappointed to find plates and eggs flying around the kitchen once he entered.

They spent their breakfast talking about Hogwarts and the houses. Andy explained how the school wasn’t the way it used to be anymore. How Slytherin was such a mess when she went to school but slowly got their reputation back. Teddy had always been interested in the Wizarding World but recently his curiosity over Hogwarts had been overwhelming which required Andy to tell the same stories over and over again but she wasn’t complaining. The way Teddy’s eyes shined with happiness was worth it.

“Nana,” began Teddy excitedly. “We should let Harry know that I got the letter!”

“Ah, you’re right.”

With that Andy summoned some parchment and a quill and wrote to Harry about Teddy’s letter. In five minutes, their owl had left the house to go to Godric’s Hollow.

“Now, I have something to show you,” said Andy as she sat down on their sofa in the living room and Teddy climbed next to her as he looked up at her expectedly. She was holding a very thick photo album in her hand. “Your grandpa liked taking pictures the muggle way.”

Teddy smiled and got comfortable next to his nana, he knew this was going to take some time but it was his favourite thing to do with Andy, looking at the old pictures of his mother.

“This album is from the day she got her letter and onwards,” she explained as she slid her fingers softly over the picture of her daughter. “Back when she still used black hair.”

“She looks like you when she has black hair,” pointed out Teddy looking longingly at her mother at the age of eleven. She was smiling at the letter she was holding in her hand. Teddy had seen many pictures of his mum with different hair colours but never with black.

“I always thought she looked more like Ted,” she said smiling at the memory of her daughter and husband. “You look like them a lot as well.”

“You think so?”

“I know so,” she answered as she tapped on Teddy’s nose softly making the little boy giggle. “You are more like her than you can imagine and I’m not even talking about the metamorphmagus abilities you have.”

“This is from before we went to the King’s Cross to send her off,” sighed Andy. “We tried talking her out of it but she wasn’t having it. So she went to school with half purple and half yellow hair.”

Teddy was laughing at the picture and thinking about doing the same thing in his second year, it didn’t matter which house he was in.

“I’m going to do it, too,” he said finally after he stopped laughing and Andy rolled her eyes.

“Of course you are,” she teased. “Like mother like son, right?”

They didn’t talk for a while after that and kept looking at the pictures. They weren’t moving like regular pictures did but Teddy appreciated them still. Andy explained when the pictures were from every now and then but other than that both of them were lost in their thoughts. It was such a heavy burden for a eleven year old Andy thought but she showed the pictures she had. She thought Teddy deserved to know who his parents were and Andy was one of the few people who can show him. She wasn’t going to deny him that.

“Her face stays the same all the time though,” said Teddy.

“I loved her for that,” replied Andy with a small laugh. “Her eyes and her hair changed all the time. She did it unintentionally when she was a baby so even I don’t know what colour her eyes are but she never changed the way she looked permanently even though she could.”

“I would never do that either,” said Teddy proudly. “Do you know what colour my eyes were?”

“No dear,” admitted Andy. “The moment you looked into your dad’s eyes, they turned amber and changed every time someone you liked held you.”

“Oh,” mumbled Teddy. “I like amber though.”

“I like amber, too,” she agreed smiling warmly at Teddy. “When you have my pale grey eyes you look so much like your Uncle Sirius, like you do right now.”

Andromeda got lost in the memory of his cousin and how much he would have loved Teddy. Teddy looked like Sirius but was more like Regulus on the inside and the memory of the younger Black boy turned Andy’s stomach upside down. Even since she found out what he did, she couldn’t stop thinking about how she didn’t do enough to save him or how Sirius died not knowing what his little brother did. Andy shook his head in an attempt to get rid of these thoughts in her head.

They were slowly coming to the end of the album. As she was looking at all the pictures of her daughter with her friends and family, she saw a drop of water fall down on the album. She lifted her head up to Teddy and gasped unwillingly as her eyes filled up with tears.

“Teddy,” she whispered softly. “You don’t have to try to hold it in when you are with me, you don’t ever have to do that.”

“I just–”

“I know dear,” she confessed. “I know photographs aren’t enough. I know it will never be enough and I’m sorry.”

“I just wish I could show them my letter,” said Teddy. “I wish she could share my excitement with me and tell me I will be a Hufflepuff no matter what Dad says.”

Teddy looked guilty for some reason but Andy thought she would let him do the talking, she never tried to make him feel better when he was crying because she never knew what to say.

“I love you, nana,” he continued through his hiccups. “I love you so much but I miss them, too.”

“Never think I will replace them Teddy, not Harry not me. We will never try to.”

“I’m so lucky to have you but I just wish I had them as well,” sobbed Teddy, his head on his grandmother’s chest as she stroked his pick hair softly.

“Me, too, Teddy,” sighed Andromeda. “All of us do.”

Crack.

“I came as soon as I saw the–” began Harry but stopped cold in his tracks. “Teddy your hair…”

“What?” said Teddy before he ran to the mirror. He had bubblegum pink hair that looked fluorescent with his pale skin. “I didn’t– I didn’t do it on purpose.”

“You look so much like her,” babbled Harry as he looked at his godson with so much wonder in his eyes. “It suits you Teddy.”

“I-I can’t look in the mirror like this everyday,” he said as he pressed his palms on his eyes. “I need to change it, it’s like seeing her. I can’t do that.”

He closed his eyes and focused on changing his hair to whatever colour, he didn’t care he just wanted it to change. When he opened his eyes he had bright blue hair and he thought it was a good tribute to his mother without giving him so much pain.

“I think this is better,” he smiled a little after he saw the concern in his godfather and nana’s eyes.

“Yes it is,” replied Andy as he hugged him tightly. “You are such a strong boy Teddy, I don’t know where the Sorting Hat will place but I feel like he’s going to have a hard time.”

“I think purple would look amazing on you,” grinned Harry before he kneeled down to give Teddy a hug. “However, any house would be lucky to have you.”

“Thanks Harry,” he mumbled.

“Now, I want to see your letter, can you go and get it for me?” he asked and Teddy’s eyes lit up instantly.

“Of course,” he replied before running off to his room.

Harry took the time to bring some water for Andromeda and sit down on the couch with her.

“Are you okay, Andy?”

“It hurts me to see how much pain he goes through every time we do something like this,” she explained. “But he wants to do it, I don’t know what to do. Maybe I shouldn’t do this for a while.”

“No Andy,” objected Harry softly. “I think it’s a part of the healing process. I would have given anything to know more about my parents even if it gave me pain.”

“You’re right,” said Andy wiping away the tears from her eyes just as Teddy ran into the room and jumped on Harry’s lap with the letter. Harry read the letter intently and gave it back to Teddy.

“So I was wondering if I could come to the Diagon Alley with you guys when you go. We can visit Uncle George and eat ice cream,” offered Harry to a grinning Teddy. Teddy lifted his eyes up to his grandmother to ask for approval.

“Well of course you could Harry,” said Andy before smiling warmly at the both of them.

“We can even look at brooms,” Harry whispered to Teddy and he giggled in response.

“No,” came the voice of Andy from the kitchen and Harry winked at Teddy making him go into a giggling fit and the sound of it made Andy feel better in a matter of seconds.

The sun was already high above the prison when Y/N stepped out to the yard, loving the Georgia heat despite the humidity. It had been freezing inside the cell block with three straight days of rain, so the warmth of the sun’s rays soaking into her skin was a welcome change. A smile tugged at her lips as she watched the kids run out through the muddy grass, Rick and Hershel checking the crops, while Maggie and Glenn walked hand in hand to the fence to kill off some walkers. She was always so happy to see the sweet beta couple together, feeling the love they have for one another radiating from them every time they even look at each other. Poor Rick always smiled at the sight of them too, wishing he could go back to the days before he lost his omega, Lori. As if it wasn’t bad enough that he had to kill his best friend, Shane, another pig headed alpha pining over his omega. But he had Carl and sweet little Judith to keep him going. He also had his duty as leader of the group to make his days busy, caring for the people taken in after the fall of Woodbury and the Governor slaughtering some of his own people.

An all too familiar feeling pulled Y/N from her thoughts and made shivers run down her spine. Her teeth quickly sunk into her bottom lip to hold back a soft whimper that threatened to escape, loving the heat that spread through her body under the blue eyed gaze of the alpha staring at her from the nearest watch tower. Daryl watched her every chance he got, secretly admiring everything about her. He had been completely entranced with her since the group first found her outside Atlanta. He liked to believe that she had no idea, looking away to avoid meeting her eyes any time she’d look at him.

To Y/N’s dismay, he always kept his distance from her. Whenever she caught him looking, she wondered how it would feel to be close to him or how he would smell. She’d been told that alphas smell wonderful to omegas like her, but she’d never been around an unmated one before, aside from Shane but he acted like Lori was his, even when Rick came back. “Maybe he thinks I’m gross.” She mumbled and kicked a rock from under her foot before walking down the gentle slope to feed the pigs the group had raised.

Daryl kept his gaze locked on her every move, groaning at the sight of her hips swaying with each step. He wanted nothing more than to pull her against his chest and scent her properly, make her his mate. He always made sure she was safe when they were on the road, keeping his distance and watching from afar. It was dangerous enough for her to be an unmated omega in a world of zombies that half rely on the scent of living things to find their next meal, but it was worse when her scent intensified during her heat each month. Securing the prison had been like a God send to protect her. He’d stop outside her cell at night when everyone was a sleep just to check, inhaling deeply to take in her intoxicating scent while he peeked in on her sleeping form. He thought he’d heard her whimper his name in her sleep a few times, but it was too quiet to tell for sure. As much as he wanted to be hers, he never got too close. Daryl thought he wasn’t good enough for her. He thought she deserved better, but couldn’t stand the thought of anyone but him touching Y/N. He shook his head and turned his attention back out to the woods and fields surrounding the perimeter of the prison, fully prepared to stay there long into the night with his thoughts.

Fic idea that won't leave me alone: Lance comes from a family that isn't healthy. Dad is an alcoholic. And when dad gets drunk he's emotionally abusive. So team gets back to earth and Lance is ecstatic to see his siblings and the team stays at the house for a while. But things are weird with lance and his dad, like lance is waiting for the shoe to drop. And that night the team takes siblings out, but when they come back dad is yelling at lance and he just takes it like 'Okay dad, you're right.'

Consider it done!

TRIGGER WARNING!!!!! ***hints at abuse of alcohol and verbal abuse*****
~~~~~
When Allura told the team they were taking some time off to visit Earth, the team were ecstatic, especially Lance. “I’m afraid we won’t be able to stay too long, so we can only visit one place and stay there. But you will all have a chance to contact your families!” Lance rushed forward, excitement filling his eyes. “We can all stay at my home in Cuba! We have a tone of extra rooms where my older siblings moved or left for college!” Allura smiled and clapped her hands together. “Alright, team, it’s decided! Coran, set a course for Cuba!” Coran saluted her and gave Lance a wink. “Right away princess!” Lance was bubbling with excitement and relief. He was so happy to see his family and for his team to meet them. *My family…oh quiznak, I didn’t think.* Lance thought, frowning. *Maybe he’s changed since I’ve been gone..* Lance was lost in thought as the stars and planets passed them by, bringing them closer to home.
~~~~~
When the castle touched down on the soft sand, Lance bolted out of the door, arms wide as the smile on his face. “Come on, guys!! My house is just up that hill!” The chased after Lance as he ran up the hill, sand crunching underneath their feet. As the team continued to run, the house came into their view. It was a large, wooden house that had clearly been there for years. It appeared to be quite old, but it was very homey. Lance began to run faster, making the sand fly from underneath his feet. “Maria, Lucas, Teo, Marco, Selena, Tia, mama, guys!!! I’m home!!!” The team watched with wide eyes as a small mob came stumbling out of the house. “LANCE!!” Small children ran toward Lance, sprinting madly. I small sturdy woman with skin the same color as Lance’s leap from the door, tears flowing down her face. “Oh Lance! My sweet boy! Lance, oh Lance, you’re okay!” “Mama!!” Lance cried, running to her with his arms open wide. She picked him up in a bone-crushing hug as his siblings talked him to the ground. “Lance, where have you been?” “Is your hair longer?” “Did you lose weight?” “Did you bring me any presents?” His mother laughed, eyes sparkling from unshed tears. “Children! Give your hermano a chance to catch his breath! I’m sure he will tell us why he left with no explanation.” His mom said accusingly. Allura stepped forward and cleared her throat. “I believe that part is my fault. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Allura, Princess of Altea. It is a pleasure to meet you.” Allura bowed respectfully to Lance’s mom. “Mama, since you’ve already met Allura, meet the rest of my team and friends. This is Keith, Shiro, Coran (the gorgeous man), Pidge, and Hunk!” Lance introduced, gesturing to each one. “Guys, meet my mama, Marcia.” Marcia nodded at them. “Well, let’s not just stand out here in the heat! You all must be starving! Come on inside and I’ll get you-” “Marcia, what is all that noise out there?!” Came a grumbling voice from inside the home. The team noticed as Lance turned stiff and clenched his fists as the voice interrupted. They heard staggered footsteps as a tall figure walked out of the house. The man had a full mustache and his skin was a couple of shades darker than Lance’s and his mom’s. “Who are all these people?” Marcia cleared her throat. “Diego, these are Lance’s friends. Lance has come home, isn’t that wonderful?” Lance’s dad eyes him up and down, and grumbled. “Well, come here boy. Give your dad a hug then.” The team watched as Lance stiffly walked toward the man. As Lance gave him a short hug, his nose crinkled. *He reeks of alcohol. I guess somethings just never change.* A small voice spoke up. “Mama, can we pleeeeease take Lance’s friends down to the beach? Please please please please pleas-” “TEO!! Ahem, if they wish to then go right ahead.” Teo whooped and pounded his fist in the air. “Let’s go you guys! Mama, will you come with us?” “We’ll alright, let’s head that way!” The team began to head toward the beach when Lance’s dad’s voice rang out. “Lance, you stay here with me and help clean up. You’re mother just finished dinner.” Lance looked in between his father and the others. With a sigh, he nodded. “Okay. Guys I’ll catch up with you guys later. Welcome to Varadero beach!” Lance waved at them and followed his dad into their house.
~~~~~
The team had separated from Lance’s family, headed back toward the house exhausted from playing in the sand and water. Allura giggled. “Lance’s family is quite large.” “And energetic!” Coran added. The rest of the team laughed along when Pidge suddenly stopped, raising a finger to her lips. “Hey guys, shh. Do you hear that?” The team crept toward the window where they could hear voices. “…leaving the family like that was disrespectful. You’ve always been disrespectful. And I hear I thought some time away would fix that.” Diego’s voice rang out, speech slurred. “You’ve done nothing for this family, but bring us down. Honestly, you’re pathetic Lance. Always have and always will.” “Of course, papa. I’m sorry.” The team looked at each other in anger and shock. “Did he just say-” “Lance doesn’t really believe that does he?” “Surely he doesn’t really think that-” “Allura, where are you doing?!” Allura ignored them, rushing her way into the house. She burst through the door, fire in her eyes. Lance jumped at the noise and turned away from the dishes he was washing. “Allura? What are you doing? Is everything oka-” “Diego, sir. I’m sorry but you are wrong.” Diego lifted an eyebrow. “Excuse me?” Allura set her jaw. “You. Are. Wrong. Lance is one of the best Paladins I have ever come to know, and his talent and bravery has saved me and our team numerous times, which means he has saved the universe multiple times. You should be proud of all the things he has accomplished. He has been nothing but respectful and he has done your family proud.” The rest of the team joined her, crossing their arms and nodding. Allura raised her chin higher. “These things you say about Lance, about my Paladin, our friend couldn’t be farther from the truth.” Lance eyes began to water as he smiled softly. “G-guys..” Keith stepped forward. “And if you have a problem with Lance or any of us, you have a problem with me.” Lance’s dad eyed them and angrily huffed. “Whatever. Lance, finish cleaning. I’m going to bed. Tell your mother.” With that, he stumbled his way upstairs. Lance sat down the wash rag and wiped away the tears from his face. “T-thank you guys. For everything. He just gets like this sometimes, so-” Shiro cut him off. “That doesn’t excuse for the things he said.” The team nodded in agreement. Lance let out a wet chuckle. “I think we need a group hug now.” The team giggled and wrapped there arms around Lance. “Without our Blue Paladin, team Voltron wouldn’t be the same. You’re the heart and soul of this team, Lance. You hold us together. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.”
Sweat beaded your forehead as you ran through the sea of people flooding the airport, your breathing was erratic and Jungkook was nowhere to be seen. Your heart hammered angrily against your chest, where was he? There you were, willing to drop your life for him and he didn’t have the decency to even answer the phone the 14 times you’d called.
Close to giving up your eyes wandered the busy scene desperately once more, much to your surprise you saw a tall, broad figure wearing all black holding what looked like to be a Louis Vuitton luggage bag. Your Louis Vuitton luggage bag. That had to be him. You ran up to the man who was speedily walking away, his wide strides almost impossible for you to catch up with.
“Jungkook!” You shouted, earning a stare from a dozen pairs of nosey eyes in the process.
Where The Wild Roses Grow
Summary: When Jughead becomes an active member of the Southside Serpents, him and Betty are starting to grow further and further apart, as the boiling volcano of Riverdale’s Civil War is threatening to erupt in full force. Can a heart to heart with Alice Cooper and an old Serpent jacket give Betty and Jughead the hope they both need?
(This is huge so grab snacks and drinks. The Bughead scene ruined me. I apologize for all of this. Warning: full angst and sin ahead! I’m not describing it as much anymore cause after the Jughead I saw in the finale that’s a given but still, after I post this, I’ll crawl under my covers in blushing embarassment.😂 Here you go, lovelies! I hope you enjoy this! ❤️)
“On the second day he came with a single red rose
He said, "Give me your loss and your sorrow?”
I nodded my head, as I lay on the bed
“If I show you the roses will you follow?”
The snow is slowly melting under the heaps of rain and so is her will to contribute to life these days. The icy scenery that adorns Riverdale gives out under the rays of sun that stubbornly peek through the pine trees and white oaks, ridding their leaves from the coldness of nature, only to become shiny droplets of clear water that hold the whole kaleidoscope of colors, just like tears and their colossal scale of emotions. He is the ice, she is the stubborn sun; that’s what he tells her through the sad darkness of each night that they lay together but further and further apart. He says it as a compliment, in the most sullen John Wheelwright fashion, but she accepts it gladly as her fingers form infinity signs over the crackling ice of his golden heart. Her hair is golden too under the dim moonlight, it’s a match made in heaven, and she vows that tomorrow she will try to burn hotter than the December sun over the patches of snow that are menacingly trying to turn him into a lifeless statue. And she does. But not today.
****
“What the hell?!” Jughead jolted upright from his position on the blow up mattress, dangerously close to the ground. Archie followed quickly, falling out of his bed in a tangle of sheets and limbs.
“It’s my phone! It’s just my phone!” He shouted more to himself than to Jughead, they had both been woken up abruptly by the obnoxious ringtone coming from Archie’s speakers. “We connected my phone to my Bluetooth speakers last night, I must have forgotten to turn it off!”
Jughead put his hands to his ears as Archie fumbled with his phone, he was still half asleep and in his daze he couldn’t figure out how to turn it off.
“It’s just Betty, we were supposed to meet up this morning to pick up Veronica’s birthday present from the jewelers, I totally forgot! Will you turn this damn thing off!” He chucked his phone at Jughead, who caught it with surprising ease.
Rubbing his eyes, Jughead looked down at the phone, instantly stopping dead in his tracks. There on Archie’s iPhone screen was the most beautiful picture of Betty he had ever seen. She was in a simple tank top, her long blonde hair down and straight looking like it was made of pure silk, and the lightest red lipstick, the most amazing thing about the photo was that it seemed to capture her eyes shifting from green to blue, a sign that she was content and relaxed. He couldn’t stop staring.
“Dude what the hell? Is it broken? Why won’t it turn off, just answer it!” Archie moaned, throwing himself back onto his bed and burying his face in his pillow. Jughead cleared his throat as he tore his eyes away from the screen and pressed accept.
“Hello?”
“Good morning! Geez, it took you quite some time to answer the phone. Wait? Is this Jughead? I recognize that voice anywhere.” She giggled into the speaker and he instantly felt his shoulders relax and any tension leave his body.
“You caught me, it’s just your friendly homeless teen, Archie said he’ll be there soon, he overslept. After you and Archie finish up, wanna grab a burger with the gang? My treat.” Jughead could practically feel her nodding excitedly , she wrapped up the conversation with a quick
“See you later Juggie.”
Closing the call Jughead stared at the picture Archie had assigned to her contact. He couldn’t get over this picture.
“When did you take this?” He asked the red headed boy.
“What?” Archie asked looking up from his pillow.
“This picture. When did you take this picture of Betty?” Jughead asked handing Archie his phone.
Archie stared at the screen for a second and smiled with a shrug
“I don’t know, last year maybe, I’ve really gotta update it, don’t let Betty know I have that one of her, she’d kill me. You should see the one Veronica has of Betty” Archie whistled lowly “smoking” he grinned at the beanie wearing boy and nudged him, Archie was the only one Jughead had told about his fairly deep crush on the beautiful blonde next door, at first it had been awkward but slowly Archie realized he just wanted his two best friends to be happy.
“Veronica has one too?” Jughead asked incredulously, how did he not know about this?
“Sure thing.” Archie threw on his letterman jacket and waved at Jughead promising to be home for Burgers at Pops. Walking over to the window he looked down and saw Archie running over to Betty and scooping her up in a hug as she shoved him away and flipped her ponytail.
What he’d give to be able to just hug her whenever he felt like it, he wanted to have pictures of her on his phone. He wanted to be the one she called up at eight in the morning. He knew Archie and Betty were just friends, both of them having clarified this to the group multiple times, but it didn’t ease the ache he felt when he saw her name pop up on Archie’s phone. Damnit, now he had no choice but to see Veronica’s picture of Betty .
The day passed slowly as Jughead worked on his novel and raided Fred Andrews snack cabinet, before he knew it Archie was calling for him from down the stairs.
“Come on Bro, burgers await. Betty’s already there with Veronica!”
Jughead nearly tripped down the stairs,
burgers and Betty?
Total package.
Walking through the clear glass doors of Pops, he instantly spotted the honey blonde ponytail, it was almost like a halo calling him over. He slid into the booth right beside Betty as Archie plopped down beside Veronica.
“Hey.” She smiled softly at Jughead, he smiled back before asking
“Can I borrow your phone?”
Betty seemed taken aback for a minute but quickly recovered with a giggle
“I’m doing great, thanks for asking” she pulled out her phone and placed it in his open palm.
“Thanks” he smiled goofily turning to Veronica.
“Can I borrow your phone?” He asked, the same smile gracing his face
“Hey!” Betty started as Veronica hesitantly handed him her phone
“You are so weird” Veronica rolled her eyes with a smirk.
He quickly used Betty’s phone to dial Veronica, staring at the screen as a glowing image of Betty popped up.
“Oh god, that picture.” He heard her mumble from his right.
The picture was absolute sin, Betty’s tan skin glowing and her blonde hair left loose and wavy.
He had never seen “bed eyes” before but he knew now he would never be able to look into Betty’s bright green ones the same again, they were so sensual and seductive staring into the camera as she pouted, don’t even get him started on that Shirt. He wanted this picture and he wanted it now.
“Veronica took that at a sleepover, I was just being silly. I’ve asked her to change it over and over again.” Betty rolled her eyes, snatching her phone away.
Jughead had to stop himself from physically moaning as the picture disappeared from the screen.
“What’s up with your infatuation with phone pictures?” Betty asked questioningly.
Jughead looked up at her and shrugged
“I don’t have one of you, I’ve never even seen a picture of you, other than your school pictures.”
Betty smiled scrolling through her phone before handing it to him
“That’s you.” She giggled pointing to Jugheads name and the picture beside it. It was one she had taken a few months ago when they went to visit the national history museum, Jughead was beanieless and staring right into the camera, his hair messy and his eyes relaxed, if you looked close enough you could see the hint of a smile popping through
“It’s my favorite picture.” She whispered, close to his ear.
Jughead turned away from the phone and swallowed hard
“I still don’t have one of you.” He mumbled out, reaching to take her hand underneath the table.
Betty smiled softly, her eyes sparkling
“Well that just won’t do.”
And so two weeks later after Jughead had finally gained enough courage to ask the love of his life out on an actual date, Betty’s picture appeared on the screen of his phone on a Saturday morning at 8 o clock. It was a picture of the two of them actually, faces smooshed together in a goofy looking kiss. And when Betty got angry at him for never answering his phone his answer was always the same
“Sorry, I just get distracted.”
Too late for that -Tom Holland
A/N: I don’t know why I keep ripping my own heart out. The second part is even worse. Enjoy!
Life is really not that entertaining when you are in bed half of the time and the other half you’re wandering through the hospital. Either to talk to doctors or to get yourself ran through tests and medication. It was one of those days where you didn’t have much energy because of the chemo and just lied in bed looking out the window. The tube in your nose tickled every few seconds when it sprayed fresh oxygen into your nose. You looked over to the door when it opened and your mom came in.
“Hey sweetie!” she said and was literally glowing with excitement.
“Uh..hi?” you said and were confused on why she was so emotional.
“What’s up?”
“Nothing. Just brought you some clothes and thought we should get you a little prepped up. I read that caring about yourself should help you get better. You’re always wearing that hospital thing. I brought you some nice jeans and a blouse. We can do your hair, maybe?” she offered and took the clothes out of the bag and laid them across the bed.
“Yeah…I guess.” you said and shrugged your shoulders In the last few months where your condition got worse you didn’t have the heart to say no to things which seemed to make your mom a little happier. To have cancer sucked, but to have a kid that suffered from cancer sucked even more. That’s the reason why you tried to keep her happy even though getting out of these comfy clothes was the last thing you wanted to do.
“Alright. Let’s get you out of bed.”
After you changed into the clothes your mom brought which you could have found cute if your bones weren’t poking out of your skin, showing how much weight you had lost. You were breathing heavily after you changed and had to sit down to calm your breathing.
“I’ll just put my hair in a ponytail.” you said out of breath and gave her a small smile before closing your eyes and concentrating on your breathing. After your lungs seemed to calm down a little you reached up to put your hair into a ponytail.
“How do I look?” you asked and smiled up to your mom who was obviously hiding her tears.
“Mom…” you sighed but she wiped them away immediatly and put a big smile on.
“You look stunning.” she said and made you chuckle. You leaned back against the head of the bed and pulled the blanket over your legs because your body didn’t really know how to heat up or how to cool down properly.
“I-…uh”, you started and closed your eyes again trying to not concentrate on the pain in your chest,“I should get some rest now. We’ll go out for a walk later, if you want?”
“Of course honey.” she approved and brushed her hand over your hair while leaning in to give you a kiss on your forhead, “Get some rest.”
***
You probably slept for half an hour even though you’d tell your mom you slept for two or three so she wouldn’t worry. The pain wasn’t always unbarable but it was always lingering in your chest which didn’t let you rest. You were looking out the window again, feeling a little drousy but not able to sleep. The wind outside was relentless, constantly dragging the trees and flowers in every direction. They were at the winds mercy, bound to be destroyed or survive without having a say in it. Helpless. Your gaze trailed back inside to your own body. Your hands were in your lap, your legs were outstreched - still in those light blue jeans.
Suddenly someone knocked on the door and the head of your mom peaked through the gap.
“Can I come in?” she asked and you nodded and waved her in. She was grinning again but this time she was holding her phone up as if she was filming you.
“What’s that?” you asked sceptically and raised an eyebrow.
“Nothing.” she answered and at the same time the door opened wide and someone in a red suit flipped into the room, landing perfectly right beside your bed.
“Oh, shit!” you cursed while laughing and pressed your hand against your chest because it startled you a little.
“Language!” your mom scolded you halfheartedly and you rolled your eyes.
“Hey! I’m Spiderman!” the person in the suit said, the mask muffling his voice and reached his hand out for you to shake it.
“I can see that. I’m Y/N.” you chuckled and shook his hand and pulled your hand back again.
“Nice to meet you.” he said and walked over to the side of the bed and reached out for his mask. As soon as he pulled it over his head your eyes widened and you felt your cheeks blush.
“Oh you’re really cute.” you blurted out and looked away while you heared him laugh at your comment. Now you understood why your mom insisted on changing your clothes. You would have been angry with her if she had let him see you in those hospital robes.
***
Tom, as you later found out, was a great actor. You hadn’t seen Civil War and Spiderman: Homecoming wasn’t released yet so you weren’t aware of the fact that they had cast a new Spider-Man. But he was great, he talked to you for a bit, made you laugh and for a little moment you felt admired. Because he had this look on his face as if he did not see you in this hospital bed. He talked to you as if you were two young adults at a party getting to know each other, but then he had to go on to the other people and surprise them. His manager actually came in to tell him that it was time to keep going. You did not expect to see him ever again. He was an actor after all, famous all around the world.
But he was going to prove you wrong. Almost a week later there was a knock on your door. It couldn’t be your mom because she was at work. It couldn’t be the doctors because they came in literally five minutes ago. You furrowed your brows trying to figure out who it could be but it was pointless.
“Come in!” you called and the door opened slowly. Someone in a black hoodie slipped through the gap and closed the door behind him. As soon as he turned around your mouth fell open.
“Hey.” he greeted you and took his hoodie off and shook his head to fix his curly hair.
“Wait a se-…Tom?” you said trying to figure out what was happening.
“Ah, okay. Alright where are the cameras? Mom! You can come out now!” you called with a smile on your face and looked around to see them coming out. But there was no one.
“Actually..” he said and stepped closer and pulled out sunflowers from behind his back, “it’s just me this time.” he added and handed you the flowers and sat down next to your bed on a chair.
You looked down to the flowers and up to Tom again, blinking, showing your confusion.
“Are you…okay?” he chuckled and waved infront of your face and made you look into his eyes.
“How did you expect me to react? Freaking Tom Holland just snuck into my hospital room.” you said and threw your hands into the air.
“Not my smoothest move. I admit.” he chuckled and scratched the back of his head.
“You don’t say.” you teased him while asking yourself where you got the boost of confidence in the back of your head.
“If you had given me a heads up, I would’ve changed into something…less hospital-y.” you joked while pointing st the robe and made him chuckle.
“Why? I see a perfectly fine, beautiful girl.” A smirk appeared on his face and you had to press your lips together not to grinn like an idiot.
“Not very smooth either.”
“Shit.” he chuckled and brushed his hand through his hair. His gaze traveled from your nightstand up to the bag of red-brown-ish liquid that was attached to a tube which lead to your arm. His eyes widened a little while stared at it and an awkward silence developed.
“It’s not as bad as it looks.” you said finally and his gaze jumped to you while his cheeks flushed.
“I-..I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to-…stare.” he said while shaking his head and you shrugged your shoulders. “It’s fine. I stare at it sometimes. You try to understand things that keep you alive.” you tried to joke but it was a way too touchy topic.
“Anyways!” you added before another awkward silence could start, “why are you here?”
“I remebered having a good conversation with a gorgeous woman, so I had to come back to check on her.”
“Still. Not very smooth.”
“But effective.”
***
Surprisingly you had a very good time with the man you just had met. And after that he kept coming in as much as his schedule allowed him to. To a point where you became really good friends and maybe a little more which concerned you very much. It scared you, having feelings for somebody, knowing your state. Almost four months in, where your condition got worse every day, you were having some really dark thoughts. Did you deserve to be loved? Was it fair to somebody else to begin a relationship when you knew you’d leave soon? Were you even allowed to love anyone? To let someone love you?
“Hey starnger.”
Tom walked in with his hands full of bags and a flower between his teeth.
“Wha-…” even though you were not feeling well at all he still managed to make you laugh.
“Take it.” he mumbled and leaned down for you to take the flower and you did.
“A guy gotta eat.” he said and winked before sitting down and unpacked the food.
“I can’t eat any of those.” you said with a raised brow and he nodded.
“I know. That’s why I got you…this!” he said and pulled out a whole head of lettuce and held it right under your nose.
“Ha ha. Very funny, Holland.” you said pushing his hand away and rolled your eyes while trying to hide your smile.
“I know baby. I am the funniest.” he said in a cocky voice and you hit his shoulder playfully.
“Shut up.”
It was almost midnight when a nurse came in for the fifth time and told him to get lost this time. I asked her for five minutes and she was kind enough to leave us alone.
“Alright. I better get going. You need to rest.” he said and leaned down to give you a kiss on your forhead.
“Tom.” you blurted out when he had already turned his back on you.
“Yes?”
“I need you to keep in mind that my condition isn’t getting better.” you said and he raised his brows.
“So?”
“So…don’t.” you tried to give him a hint but he acted dumb.
“Don’t…what?”
“You know what I mean Tom. I’m dying!” you blurted out finally and crossed your arms infront of your chest.
“No I don’t and no you’re not.” he said while shaking his head and shrugging his shoulders like a child who didn’t want to come inside, even if it got dark outside.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” he added and blew you a kiss which made you sigh.
“Tom.” you stopped him again and took a deep breath, “Don’t fall in love with me.”
“A little too late for that.” he said and you saw him grinn before he left your room to avoid the angry nurse.
Pillow Talk (Jonerys Fanfiction)
So this is just a small fiction taking place post #BoatSex (holy shit by the way); an intimate conversation and moment.
Hair (Romione, George, Hinny)
I blame @blvnk-art for this fic. I was thinking on it this morning, especially Hermione deciding to shave her head and my muse smiled on me, threw a gallon of glitter on my head, and voila! The story poured out.
Rated T for bad language, some lime innuendo (it’s very light and Ace safe) and adult situations.
Hermione slipped out of the bed she shared with Ron and padded softly to the boy’s bathroom. She still felt grotty from yesterday, even after a scalding hot bath for an hour. While lying in the bed with Ron, his arm a comfort across her hip but sleep escaping her once again, she came to a pragmatic decision.
She closed the heavy door and picked up the brush she brought with her out of the beaded bag that was her lifeline. Her hair, the one thing on her that stayed when she wasted away, was officially a lost cause. She dropped the brush into the sink and pulled back her hair, trying to talk herself out of the decision made.
She had no logical argument to keep her hair, not when it had grown nappy, knotted, kinked beyond any ability of magic or potions. Exhaustion and pragmatic consideration made it an easy choice when she was standing in the boy’s bathroom of Gryffindor tower and Harry’s razor sitting in front of her.  One casting from the wand she hated with all of her soul sharpened the blade on the muggle safety razor and she went to work, with the wand in her hand and then the razor in the other.
