Rebuttal: Pearl Did Not Shatter Pink Diamond

So some friends and I were discussing the SU ‘Wanted’/Memoral Day episodes, particularly theories related to The Trial.  This is my opinion on the relevant theories regarding Pearl.  I’ll post my own theory shortly.

It’s fairly long (enough so that it seemed like the post window was starting to break), and spoilers abound.  So details are below the line if you’re up for it.

The donut had a curious gap, like someone sliced a thumb-sized slice of it off and left the rest. It was Butterfingers on top, so I picked it up and ate it.

Warren walked in the room wearing a light red and blue plaid shirt. He was carrying four bottles of craft beer, but the covers did not look promising. “Thanks again for the donuts, Warren.” He nodded, looking for a bottle opener, “No problem. I’m just in a giving mood today.”

“What’re the bottles for?” He smiled, “We’re celebrating a settlement.” I nodded, ready to put more files on the list, “Which case?” He paused for a moment while closing the fridge, “Ah, I can’t say. Percy’s superstitious about that.” I nodded, “Ah.” Same-day delivery was verboten, then. Fair. The phrase about skeletons in your closet seem funny until you’re trying to bury all these living things in your mind.

Allie got to where she was going at three in the morning, and I like to think she made it around the same time I was driving away from things I left behind.

(not sure if the photo showed up in this submission)

This a rundown of how I sent my stickers for proofing to Catprint.  The photo shows 3 of my files and 1 close up of my sticker proof.

Setting up the stickers:

I sent 3 files shown above to Catprint through email.  1 is your art, 2 is your die or kisscut lines, and 3 is both together. Because the file was a custom size I also added a cut line box around the whole thing.  I created my cut lines in Photoshop using the pen tool.

Send the files to Catprint support to have them check everything beforehand. I didn’t have any issues though, they approved them immediately.

Placing an order:

I placed an order myself for my prints and let Matt from Catprint add the holographic sticker sheets to it.

Sticker issues:

For some reason my sticker sheet was too large so the printer couldn’t handle my die cut file. They had to shrink it by a tiny bit (like .25 an inch) to make it work which was fine with me. However, I didn’t know that they had problems with it until I got an automated email letting me know only my prints had shipped.

The sticker status on the website kept being sent back to “printing” instead of moving forward to “waiting for approval” (aka proofs shipped). When I contacted Matt, he let me know they were trying to get it to work but that they might need to edit the size. So, just FYI keep an eye on your order status if you’re in a rush. I let it go a few days when I could have emailed Catprint about it and fixed it immediately.

Sticker Review:

I’m happy overall with the sticker quality.  They did miss one of my cut lines across the top but I can let them know when I place my actual order.  I mentioned this in my other submission but normally the stickers are not shiny unless you add the prism coating, FYI.

The proof did get shipped in a regular envelope which lead to it getting bent, but I’m sure real orders will come protected in a box.  It also arrived 1 business day after it got printed, so whatever.

Even though I put a lot of my kisscut lines very close to each other, there were no overlaps in the cuts.  I probably will move some of them further away from each other for the final. The only thing is it’s very hard to tell where the stickers are kisscut, at 1st glance it looks quite flat.  However there is no issue peeling the stickers off the sheet.

The sheet does feel quite thick with the prism coating and there is something very very slightly off about it compared to stickers you might buy at somewhere like Target.  Nothing wrong with it per se just a little different, I’m not really sure how to explain.

However, with no minimum, extremely competitive pricing, and the ability to set up your own sheets with however many cuts you want, I would recommend Catprint. If I printed individual stickers in large quantities I probably would go through a sticker-only company though.

My dad has been ranting and cursing all night about the internet being incredibly slow and not working most of the time, but before he had a chance to reset the modem I assured him that I read online that everyone using our provider was suffering from this…

Little does he know that the problem is actually ME trying to upload a 2GB avi file to YouTube for the Destiel documentary (something that is way too much for our shitty internet, took 6 hours) because I am too much of an idiot to do something about the size of any file without fucking it up.

It’s cool, I’ll just take this to the grave

I tried doing the sharpening frame by frame thing that a lot of giffers do where you sharpen them before you turn them into a timeline animation but it doesn't make the gifs look good? it just makes them look poorly sharpened :(

that’s so weird, i’ve never had that problem. i can explain exactly how i do it and maybe that will help you.

hey i was wondering what programs do you use to make the daily doodles?

Heeeey Jessgeekz!

The way I do it is pretty simple, and as far as what programs I use, everything is free online so anyone could do it if they were so inclined (as long as you have internet access and a computer of course).

The way I do it is also probably very dumb, as I taught myself my own way of doing things (along with what my much smarter friends taught me).  It works for me and my brain can understand it, so I’ve been happy with the results so far.

The short version: I use a combination of Photoshop and Adobe Premiere, with almost all of the animation happening in Premiere.

I don’t wanna bore everyone with the details, so if you’re interested in seeing test versions of a GIF and longer explanations along the way, please click past the READ MORE!

Converted the TS3 University Life bar. Not a complete success though because I couldn’t get rid of the white trays(?). This is the exact same alpha issue as the one I had before when converting the ice cream cart. The problem is that I totally forgot how I managed to make the wheel transparent *laugh and cry*

Oh well, I will just insist the white squares are cake cardboard base. I placed cute doilies on them at least. Hmm, actually I just thought the tray wouldn’t be that ugly if the size is a bit reduced.

… And I guess I won’t be able to make more recolors of this bar at least for a while. I didn’t know that the inside of bars and counters are that complicated (I mean DDS files). You guys will laugh at me when you see how messy my PDS file is lol. Urgh I miss CASt so much.

P.S. Made the ‘coffee’ part of the sign too. I didn’t realized I only made ‘Starbucks’.
