i guess it could work like that

anonymous asked:

I suck at headcanons so do you have any about Jake & Amy + dancing? Since Jake is actually a good dancer I feel like there could be some cute stuff with that...

1.

jake peralta can’t dance. or, at least, that’s what amy santiago has assumed since the moment she began working at the 99th precinct. he seems to always be moving, though. his fingers tap as he works, and not your typical, bored typing either. there’s some undecipherable pattern, his palm lifting from the desk with a dramatic flare every few seconds, his fingers still bouncing off the air. the beat isn’t static, changing as often as he wills it, if he even has a beat at all.

then there’s the way he walks. mostly it’s just a hop in his step, sometimes he sways. occasionally he’ll pivot in a circle on his heel, caught up in whatever rhythm the cogs in his head seem to operate to.

the first time she actually sees jake attempt to dance, they’ve just come back from a case. he jumps right onto his desk, scooting some of the mess away with his foot. his victory dance is really just a more chaotic version of the way he usually takes up space. he throws his arms out to the side and kicks his feet up in some sort of jig. he has no regard for the lack of music, though charles claps along from his desk, providing some sort of beat. which of course jake ignores entirely.

he tries to pull her into it, leaping down and grabbing her elbow where her arms are crossed over her chest. she’s caught off guard, and jake’s able to lift her hands and spin them around. the precinct has stopped to watch, filled with laughter and cheers. gina lifts her phone in the air to play music, and jake changes his movements slightly. suddenly his feet are working together, and his arms aren’t flapping about.

amy santiago can’t dance. it’s evident as she suddenly can’t keep up with him, her cheeks blushing as he somehow turns her into the fool. she’s released after another moment, stray strands of hair caressing her cheeks, and her heart still pounding. jake is grinning at her as he steps away, miraculously sticking to the music, and gives her a little bow.

Part ½ Captive Prince Big Bang

“ The audience turned in their seats. Damen followed their eyes, looking over at the entrance. And there he was, glowing against the blue and gold livery that adorned the room. Dressed in ivory and more gold, he looked like the starburst Prince - no, King - he was.”

-

“ He was halfway across the room when they locked eyes. Even from afar, Damen could see that Laurent was ecstatic. This was what he had worked so hard for. This is what he never let himself hope for. You deserve this , Damen wanted to say. You look mesmerizing , as well. “

You: But its so good, i love it.

Artist: You’re so kind for trying to make me feel better when you just feel bad me, on account of my art being so bad. I must look like a fool in public when i post things, and I know you feel bad for me for it, but you don’t have to say such nice things. I wish people would be more critical, so i could improve.

You: … Okay i guess i can see where you could improve.

Artist: SEE I TOLD YOU I WAS BAD.

Good, Asuka. Ask questions.

Maybe you could ask Rei herself…

Looks like we’re ending the episode with some bombshells. it’s Gendo and Grand Moff Tarkin lookin’ guy chilling in Gendo’s office.

So the group of bigwigs Gendo was speaking to are collectively called “The Human Instrumentality Committee.” I guess that means they’re all working for the same goal… Gendo’s top secret Human Instrumentality Project. Whatever that is.

Gendo is confident that they can’t do anything against him because he holds all the trump cards. That is true. The Evangelions, the Magi, and Adam, to name three.

And then… “If Seele starts interfering now, it’ll be trouble, in more ways than one.”

So whatever or whoever this Seele is, their authority is above even the Human Instrumentality Committee, which is in itself above Nerv, which is itself above Marduk and the UN. I’m going to go ahead and guess that it’s an organization– a group of people.

This conspiracy has layers, lads.

Hiryuu doods as a warm up

Just while we’re on the subject of spelling and grammar, I do appreciate when people point things out to me. Sometimes I do make mistakes, sometimes it’s autocorrect. Other times it’s a pun (forever the curse of a pun lover) and it goes over other people’s heads. Other times I’m writing something off the cuff and in rapid fire and I’ll miss things here and there in the quick scan I do before moving on to the next thing I need to do on here so it feels like I am not ignoring people.

But here’s the thing, people sending me “wow you’re an editor and you type like that? lol” messages? Is a dick move for several reasons and I’ll tell you why…

First of all: I am not at work when I am on tumblr. I might as well be my second full time job at this point, but I am not in actual fact on the clock when I am here.

I am not at work when I am texting someone unless I am texting them as a client. I am not at work when I am having conversations with people online, unless they are my client.

You can correct my grammar or my spelling if you want, but don’t make some derisive comment about me being a writer and an editor and not being able to type and make it into a thing like “wow I guess  could be an editor too if it’s that easy” just because you’re being pedantic with someone you are having an informal conversation with.

It takes more than the ability to spell and get your grammar right 100% of the time to be an editor. It is not an easy job to be an editor. Which is why when I am not at work, my typing goes to absolute shit because I don’t have the excess energy to expend on that level of concentration when I am not working. Or sometimes just plain don’t give a shit. Like, I do not care. My typing is imperfect when I am talking rapid fire, sometimes with multiple people over multiple platforms at once. Woopdiedoo.

And when you’re mean about it? When you say? “I can’t help it, I know it doesn’t matter but it annoys me when people can’t spell”?

You’re not only admitting that you don’t care enough to regulate behavior which you know is rude to others, you are also being ableist and quite possibly racist as well.

Not everyone finds it easy to write, and I don’t mean that in the creative sense, I mean that in the very basic sense that some people with learning difficulties struggle to read and write.

This does not make them less intelligent than you. It does not make them less brilliant than you. It does not mean they give any less of a shit about something important than you do, or are any less deserving of your respect and civility than some asshole who is an asshole but who knows how to use an em dash correctly.

I’ve dropped clients who had good grammar and spelling, but I just plain couldn’t deal with their attitude, and stuck with the people apologizing over and over for how much work I have to do on their manuscript because they know. They know they’re not as good as everyone else and the social stigma around it is so overwhelming it undermines everything they will ever do.

Other people may also not come from the same culture as you, speak the same languages as you, or have had access to the same opportunities you have had. If their way of communicating is understood but doesn’t conform the views of intelligence, quite frankly instilled by White Nationalism and Colonization and you tear them down for not conforming to your limited world view of propriety? They’re not the problem here, you are.

Someone’s ability to spell does not indicate their value or worth, or even the time they have put into something. I see so many rebuttals on this hellsite and on other places, where people go out of their way to invalidate the words of other people simply because they mixed up “your” and “you’re”, even though it doesn’t stop their meaning from being understood (and honestly it’s most likely auto-correct and you know it), but hey I guess it’s just way easier to tear someone down based on an arbitrary and false idea of assigned intelligence and societal worth based on their use of English grammar than it is to come up with an actual rebuttal. Boy aren’t you a hero.

So just…like…I get it, I get you see something and it’s incorrect and part of you may niggle at it and yes there are times when “perfection” is not only expected but required and spelling and grammar is important (or else I wouldn’t have the job I am very good at). But just, I dunno, quit being a dick to people because you’re a pedantic asshole who wants to feel superior.

At the end of the day we’re all just sentient atoms hurtling towards the same unknown. The least you can do is be kind.

Sometimes I’ll be sitting in my room, perfectly fine, and then I just get slammed by this wave of loneliness and I hate it

The Difference Between Us is an upcoming My Little Pony fan game about Fluttershy on her first date with Pinkie Pie. Fluttershy never knew that Pinkie felt that way about her, and she struggles to figure out what she wants and how she feels about Pinkie as she finds her way through the date.

There are three main routes through the date, and each route has three endings, all with several different variations depending on your prior choices. There are no bad endings, just different ways of exploring a new relationship and the new feelings that come with it. All of the mane six as well as the cutie mark crusaders make appearances to offer advice, hang out, or even put on a show. And all along the way, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie will be telling stories, sharing secrets, healing old wounds, and, hopefully, growing closer.

Coming soon!

Watching your crush make That Face™ after he gets a shot (Never missing even one)

A little something for a fic I’m working on, once I finish the third chapter I’ll post it but for now all that exists of it currently is this.

I can’t say too much on what it’s gonna be about without spoiling but I can tell you this(keep in mind this is mostly set pre-all that universal domination shit)

Lance is actually one of the weapon testers at the Galran labs (He’s usually hopping between Altea and Daibazaal) The lab he’s in helps to create different prototypes of weapons powered by quintessence so he gets to try them out and pretty much gives advice on what they could do better with it.
Lance is pretty much Altea’s top sharpshooter, also having skills in stealth and one of their top strategists. (We need more BAMF!Lance okay, I’m tired I want my boy to be appreciated thank you very much) He’s also very charismatic and if there were bars for his charisma levels they’d be filled ok. He can pretty much smooth talk his way out of everything…almost.

Keith is one of Zarkon’s generals, hopping between missions in the system/on planet. On the rare times he gets a break he doesn’t have much to do so he just hangs around the lab watching the engineers and scientists do their thing. (Totally not there for that one cute Altean guy nopenopenope)

He has exceptional skill working and fighting with various blades and weapons of that nature. He’s one of their top pilots and fighters and leads his one unti (Even if he really doesn’t want to but they can mostly take care of themselves so there’s no babysitting involved)

Would You Look At That

A/N: That photo of Shawn waiting in the check out line inspired this. Late night grocery store shopping + running into each other.

Wow, I’m on a roll with fluff. Let’s see how long I keep this up.

Feedback appreciated. Enjoy.

You don’t know what possessed your roommate to drag you out of the comfort of your warm bed to go grocery shopping, yet there you are. The bright neon sign glares at you as you park and you can’t help but turn your head to do the same.

“Sonya, tell me again why we’re here at…11 o’clock at night?” You pull your phone out to check the time. Whatever she needed could wait until the morning.

“We literally have nothing for breakfast,” Sonya retorts. “We’re also out of toilet paper,” she confesses. You groan in annoyance, letting your head fall back onto the headrest.

“Alright, alright. I guess that couldn’t wait.” You can’t say you’re surprised, though. Both of you have been busy with school and work, so it’s simple to overlook necessities like food and toilet paper.

Sonya hustles towards the carts  to wrangle one. You can barely keep your eyes open until you step into the store and the the harsh florescent lights invade your vision.

I haven’t slept in 2 days so excuse my cheesiness and incoherence, but - I had never seen harry so up close before yesterday. we’re talking centimetres in some cases to no more than a couple of metres in others (!!!!!!!). when I got into the studio and realised how close he would be I thought I would freak out once he came out, but then he did and for those 4 hours the feeling I got is that I had seen him a million times before. he has this quality about him. he makes you feel as if you’ve known him your entire life, and as if that person on stage is nothing but a close friend chasing his dreams who you are very proud and fond of. I had felt similarly at the garage gig back in may, but I guess yesterday’s intimate venue and relaxed general mood hightened it 10000x. he was so, so charming. laughing and interacting with everybody - he made it feel like a gathering of friends rather than a tv special to be aired on national tv. what the people that get to meet and work with him say is true: he has a star quality about him, and you FEEL how very special he is, but you also feel as if you could easily text him ‘ice cream?’ 5 minutes later and he would reply 'yes, see you in 10’ as if it were a common occurrence.

this probably doesn’t make much sense, but I don’t know if and how his magic will translate in the edited version of the show so I wanted to write it here in case it won’t. ❤️

the-sixth-month  asked:

I know I already told you (but that doesnt matter because Im sure you dont remember me) that I love how you draw Stan. And... basically everything else. I figured you draw everything in special shapes! I for myself try to draw more in shapes for drawing pracitce and not with these skeletons. You are really good at this! Maybe if you have time and if you want to, could you give me/us a small toturial? And maybe you dont even draw with shapes and its just me haha... Thank! :3

Thank you! But oh gosh, I really am the last person you should ask for a tutorial. I don’t think I have any conscious technique to it, I just sort of wing it. But I’m gonna try my best to explain my thoughts on different body types and how I draw them! I don’t draw shapes in the way I think you mean. At least I’m guessing you’re referring to something like this:

While I think this could actually be a pretty good way to go about it, this isn’t how I work. What I do is, I draw a rough outline of the character using a thick brush. Let’s take the sketch and line art of this drawing of Stan as an example:

So as you can see, there’s no real shapes or help lines or anything like that. But what I can tell you is this: when I draw bodies I always try to make them as dynamic as possible! My tip for drawing bodies is EXAGGERATE, EXAGGERATE, EXAGGERATE! Exaggerate the body types of different characters to add variety! Exaggerate different parts of the same character to make them more dynamic!

Since we’re on the topic of Stan, let’s talk about Stan and Ford. Identical twins with different body shapes? You can bet your sweet ass I’m gonna exaggerate those two in completely different directions! Identical twins are like the holy grail of character design practice - take two characters with the same face and see just how different you can make them! Let’s draw a quick doodle of the Stan twins:

Even in the rough outline you can clearly tell who’s who just from their body shapes. If you want to practice drawing different body types, I highly recommend trying to make the characters distinct from each other at the earliest possible stage of your drawing. Try to make it so that even from a rough sketch with no facial features or clothes you’ll still be able to tell which character is which!

Why am I going on about this? Because body shapes should not be treated as an afterthought! They need to be there, right from the beginning, right from the very first draft! I quite often see people draw fat characters that just look… odd. And you know why they look odd? Because it looks like the artist just sketched an average person and then added some chub during the line art process. Human bodies don’t really work like that! Unless we’re talking like a beer belly here, then the fat will be more evenly distributed across at least part of the body. This affects things like breadth of shoulders and hips, in other words the very frame of the body. If you’re a cartoonist, just adding some chub to a sketch of an average frame will never get a result that is as good and dynamic as a character than was drawn as fat from the very first draft (and this is why I think working from shapes can be very beneficial!).

Okay, so drawing different body types requires both planning and variety. But how do I go about designing a body? Well, personally, I work a lot with contrast, not only between different characters, but also within a single character. Since we’re on the subject of the Stan twins, let’s talk about Ford a bit. Ever wondered why I draw him with the same skinny legs as Stan, even though they’re thicker than his in canon? Well, part of it is because I draw them as identical and thus their fat distribution would work in the same way. But more importantly, it’s because my art style relies heavily on contrast in order to make characters appear as dynamic as possible!

I often draw characters like this – where one half of the body is broad/thick and the other narrow/thin. Let’s refer to it as ‘horizontal exaggeration’.

But what if I want to draw a character that is thin or thick all over? Can I still make them exaggerated and dynamic? Heck yeah, I can! Let’s talk about, uh, let’s call it ‘vertical exaggeration’! On the average human being, the midpoint of the body is at crotch level. Playing around with this midpoint helps a lot with making cartoony body types more dynamic!

Want to draw an overall thin character? Putting their crotch line higher up than usual will help emphasize how gangly they are. Meanwhile, a fat or stocky character is often drawn with a lower crotch line to help emphasize their girth.

In summary… I don’t really have any special techniques to teach anyone, but I really want to encourage people not to be afraid to exaggerate when it comes to body shapes! Exaggerate horizontally! Exaggerate vertically! Make those bodies weird and dynamic! I realize this is more of a rambling mess then a tutorial, but, uh…  I hope someone might have found this helpful?

And last but not least… Don’t worry if you can’t draw different body types just yet – just keep drawing and practicing and you’ll get the hang of it eventually! I think a lot of us have been at that stage where we were only able to draw skinny characters. Let’s take a look at how I drew bodies 8 and a half years ago and end this with a laugh!

If I can move past this stage, then so can all of you! Just keep drawing, keep practicing, and most of all, keep having fun doing it! Good luck!
