i guess i'll put this in the character tag i guess

Theory time: What if Monoma Neito is a traitor?

I’m saying “a” traitor since I’m on board with the theories that there is at least one traitor in class A, but this is a completely different topic. So, about Monoma.. let’s briefly talk about his personality at first:

(it’s a little long, so read more!)

anonymous asked:

Sorry if this question has already been asked to you but what do you think Jaime menant when he says: "There are no men like me. Only me."? I honestly love this quote so much but it''s so hard to determine what he meant by that. Some people think it's arrogance, but I don't think it's arrogant to say that we're not like others, because we're all unique in our own way. I personally felt a great loneliness from this quote, what do you think?

actually no no one ever asked me that specifically so… *cracks knuckles*

first thing: I love that quote to pieces I mean I loved jaime like woah before then too but at that point it was just cemented xD that said hahaha nope arrogant my ass. okay here comes another episode of ‘janie’s unpopular opinions about jaime lannister’s true character TM’ brace yourself

okay so, let’s see the entire context and let’s recall that at this point the guy is somewhat drunk since I think he was at the point in the exchange with cat where he was fairly beyond tipsy.

“Your crimes will have earned you a place of torment in the deepest of the seven hells, if the gods are just.”

“What gods are those, Lady Catelyn? The trees your husband prayed to? How well did they serve him when my sister took his head off?” Jaime gave a chuckle. “If there are gods, why is the world so full of pain and injustice?”

“Because of men like you.”

There are no men like me. There’s only me.”

There is nothing here but arrogance and pride, and the empty courage of a madman. I am wasting my breath with this one. If there was ever a spark of honor in him, it is long dead.

now, first thing: obviously cat does not know jaime’s backstory and we know that she’s fairly wrong about pretty much all of her evaluation - like jaime has a lot of pride obviously and he’s arrogant, but his honor is far from dead as you can see later in asos and he’s not a madman. actually, he’s the only one actually speaking sense in this exchange - obviously not from cat’s pov, but tbh his reply is pretty dead-on. he is alive and ned is not, and we all know that killing aerys is what turned him into the cynical pseudo-heartless person he thinks he is these days and that he’s presented as in the beginning (pseudo-heartless because he’s not but never mind), and he’s probably spent a lot of time thinking over the fact. like it’s also obvious from his confession to brienne, but he really fucking resents having been judged that harshly over aerys. I mean:

The water had grown cool. When Jaime opened his eyes, he found himself staring at the stump of his sword hand. The hand that made me Kingslayer. The goat had robbed him of his glory and his shame, both at once. Leaving what? Who am I now?
The wench looked ridiculous, clutching her towel to her meager teats with her thick white legs sticking out beneath.
“Has my tale turned you speechless? Come, curse me or kiss me or call me a liar. Something.”
“If this is true, how is it no one knows?”
“The knights of the Kingsguard are sworn to keep the king’s secrets. Would you have me break my oath?” Jaime laughed. “Do you think the noble Lord of Winterfell wanted to hear my feeble explanations? Such an honorable man. He only had to look at me to judge me guilty."

wow. he’s totally not angry over it still, isn’t it?

thing is: no one else in the kingsguard at least in recent times as far as we know has murdered their king as he did. he has never gone and tried to correct it with anyone else because everyone judged him on principle because of it and at that point let’s remember that he had guarded aerys for two years and when he burned people in front of him he was most likely dissociating so having to kill aerys was probably the straw breaking the camel’s back to jaime’s feelings about questioning his role in the kingsguard and the likes. I mean, don’t forget that he had been questioning the whole ‘why don’t we lift a finger if the king is horrid to his family’ rules for a long time and no one else saw fit to either do something about it or voice their concerns if they had any. there’s literally no one like him because as far as we know he’s been the only KG member who ever put the entire system into question. and as far as he knows he made the right decision (he doesn’t really regret killing aerys even if he has conflicted feelings about it ie his glory and his shame) but no one else does.

now, after that he thinks that the whole oaths/honor talk is bullshit for obvious reasons and that’s why he doesn’t give a fuck (externally) if people think he has no honor. he’s gonna embrace it if that’s what they think even if deep down he loathes it - or he wouldn’t be telling that story to brienne who’s, guess what, the One True Knight & Honor Personified Except That She Is True To It And Not A Fraud in the entire continent. this stated, let’s look at the first exchange.

cat is basically telling jaime that his crimes have eternally damned him and she obviously means pushing bran, killing aerys and possibly banging his sister, but as far as jaime thinks the only one out of the three he might consider a crime is pushing bran, not loving his sister (as far as he’s concerned) or killing a madman (and I’m saying he’d consider pushing bran a crime because before he pushes him he says ‘the things I do for love’ with loathing, which would suggest he KNOWS he’s doing something shitty). so hey she’s doing exactly the same thing ned did with him ie judging him without knowing the entire story or the reasons why he committed most of his supposed *crimes*. he gives her a perfectly logical answer that also complies with his character development - at that point he’d hardly care about gods whatsoever and he hasn’t for a long time most probably. also he’s laughing the entire time which would suggest he’s finding it all hilarious in the way it is when you’re drunk and you’re already cynical in the first place. anyway, ‘why is the world so full of pain and injustice’ isn’t just aimed at cat, it could be aimed in general, because that’s most likely a question he’s asked himself since he got into the KG. it is the question someone who has to serve aerys and hates it would ask themselves.

and she replies ‘well, because of men like you’, supposing that he is the kind of horrible person that makes the world full of pain and injustice while actually the guy had to live for years serving someone who made the world full of pain and injustice and made everyone a favor when he killed aerys. so basically she went and told him that he is the same as aerys which I’m fairly sure jaime wouldn’t agree with since they’re absolutely not.

and then he tells her that there are no men like him. but like that’s literal truth - there aren’t. no one has done what he has done, no one has been reviled for it as it happened to him, no one went into the KG at fifteen and no one did the things jaime did in that specific context and he’s just telling her the truth. he’s telling her that not only he’s not like aerys, but no one else could have done the things he did and he doesn’t really want to be likened to aerys in the first place.

and as you said there’s obviously the loneliness part of it since if you look at the whole picture, jaime’s basically kept that story for himself until he told brienne. but like he kept that secret for more than ten years also because no one would have cared to hear his part of the story, and he didn’t share it even with cersei when one presumes he would since at that point he still buys into the ‘we are the same person etc’ mantra. but he doesn’t. he never has. and he’s probably felt the burden of it for that entire time, and then again if he never told others it probably was also because he thought it wouldn’t change anything. (and guess what when he tells brienne it actually does change things but never mind.) also jaime tends to keep a lot of things that end up eating him from the inside ie he never tells tyrion about tysha or never tells anyone about aerys and the likes. of course there’s no one like him. because no one’s had his experiences and no one bothered to understand them and he’s not the kind of person that makes the world a horrible place but everyone thinks he is and at that point of the story he had sort of embraced it in the ‘well they think that of me fine I’ll deliver’ sense. he meant all of that, but obviously cat was not the right interlocutor for it since she thinks he’s insane when he’s the one out of the two of them that’s talking most sense. it’s not that it’s arrogance (he’s arrogant in other ways), it’s just the way it is.

(mind that jaime is one of the few people who tends to say things straight and tends to not bullshit in his povs and grows more self-aware with the narration rather than being unreliable - he’s like one of the most reliable narrators in asoiaf tbh if you don’t count the part concerning his feelings for cersei, but he also gets progressively self-aware in that sense as well. so like he generally means 90% of what he says unless he’s deliberately lying and you know when he is, it’s his pov most of the times. I think you can generally take at face value most of the things he says and this one also counts.)

The question of why Grumman hated Bradley/the central brass so much haunts me.

And when, exactly, did Bradley take power? Grumman would have been in the military long enough to see that, right? How tf does Grumman know Chris “i run an underground information network” Mustang?? High ranking older general that is friends with a probably not completely legal spy network boss and also harbors enough hate for the fuhrer that he is beyond ready to cut a bitch. And he mentored a rebel like Roy, which means at some point they revealed their not fuhrer-friendly ideals to each other. Incredibly risky, considering the other could have ratted them out. Christmas probably played a role there, able to vouch for both of them, i guess.

And lets not forget that he’s Riza’s grandfather! What I wouldn’t give to hear that story and how that relates to everything.

Grumman is someone that has not military institution friendly contacts and intentions, yet rose very high in the ranks and obviously has served in the military for a long time, is the maternal grandfather of one of the main characters, has the loyalty of the eastern forces and trust of Olivier Armstrong and Roy Mustang enough to pull off a mother effing coup with them. He joked in a “i’m kidding but give me a second and I’ll totally fucking do it” way about blowing up the tower Bradley was in. THEN he also ?? Blew up the fuhrer’s fucking train?? And even then he was like “no i need to go fishing I need to see this fucker’s  c o r p s e  before i’m satisfied” Like goddamn. That doesn’t come out of nowhere.

When did he join? Why did he join the military? Did he fight in his own war?? Had he always been aiming for the top? Had he always been a “good” guy or did he change over time and see the light? What about his personal life? His wife (or was he not married to Riza’s grandmother??). His relationship with his daughter. How someone raised by Grumman ends up marrying someone like Berthold Hawkeye?? How does he feel about his granddaughter being in the military?

I have so many questions.

as promised: the fetishism callout post!

let me just begin by saying there's nothing wrong with finding any of the cast members attractive. this is an EXTREMELY attractive cast. everyone is so FINE I bet even the folks backstage who we don't see are gorgeous. Its okay to be sexually attracted to them too! We've all made posts professing our love to the cast, which is perfectly fine!! Right now you're looking at Leslie Odom Jr's fiancé! we good!!

but ya see there's a big difference between "anthony ramos is my sweet freckled child <333" and "I want anthony to shove his #thicc cock inside of me and ten other cast members at the same time but also freckles uwu"

You see the difference right?? Right??????

I don't have anything against writing smut about the characters (who, yes, are technically real people but they've been dead for literal centuries ok. Let it go) but it just gets weird REEAAAAL fast when u say the same thing about musical!John Laurens and the real live human being Anthony Ramos. It gets even weirder when u talk about the cast members in this way in relations to each other??? Shipping real people in a serious, unironic way is just a lil :/// to me (I say "serious, unironic way" bc I do write rpf with my friend but its a Huge Joke™ and nonsexual and come on I don't actually ship sandra bullock and steve harvey together ok). I mean Anthony is quite frankly dating Jasmine Cephas Jones.....it's a legitimate fact. There are pictures. It's on Wikipedia. They're in LOVE and its PRECIOUS and they're gonna get MARRIED eventually so why tf r yall writing about him bottoming for Lin????????

And Lin!!! He has a beautiful WIFE AND SON. You can speculate about his sexuality, NOT PUBLICLY BC HE SEES THINGS, but that's fine if u honestly must??? (although he tweeted that he was straight once during his "grease live" livetweeting so......like......). U can talk about how cute he and jonathan groff are! But y'all don't stop there do u? Bc one second ur talkin about them being cute and then a sentence later it's all "and then he SUCKED his BIG FAT DICK clean off!!!!!! He was dickless!!!! While wearing their costumes!!!!!!!!!! He choked on the full decapitated dick!!!!!"

That shit ain't cute.

So, now that u finally realize that (hopefully), we can get to the real nitty mcfreaking gritty. this part is primarily for white fans but it technically applies to anyone who is not specifically latinx and/or black jsyk:

So even before the whole "baby girl" thing started, I saw quite a few of y'all calling Anthony and Lin "papi" which like.....why should I even have to tell you why this is wrong. If you're not latinx, DON'T USE THE WORD "PAPI", especially since most of y'all are using it in a sexual context. You went ahead and took an innocent word, and turned it into a way to sexualize your faves who just so happen to be latinx. It just ain't right, and its also?? weird??? Let me put it this way, I'm black but not jewish so thatd be like me calling daveed "bubbe". Or something. Either way see how that'd be gross and offensive? You're taking a part of them, a huge part of them, their culture, and turning it into something exotic and sexual. That, my friends, is fetishism.

Another good example of this is the whole "baby girl/boy" n "papa" thing. Y'all rly went ahead and took an cute nickname and rolled RIGHT with it lmao. @alexandralexander explained it beautifully in this post, but basically "papa" (and "mama") is a cute lil way of older folks to regard ppl who are younger than them. It's a caribbean thing, aka something yall just won't get. Idk what the whiter equivalent would be, idk like ur grandad calling u "big guy" or something??? Who knows. Just kno that its NOT SEXUAL IN ANYWAY LIKE WTF WHY DID Y'ALL MAKE THAT A DADDY KINK THING. WHY CAN NOTHING BE SACRED WITH YOU GUYS. Best believe when my grandparents call my brother "papa" they mean it in an endearing way. And that's how Lin meant it? I don't see how it could have been construed any other way??

As for the baby girl/boy thing, in all the times I've been called/heard someone else call someone baby girl, it was NOT sexual. It can be used that way, but it was n o t in this context. Again, its a cultural thing i guess. And with "baby boy", yall do remember that anthony plays lin's son in this show right. okay, just checking.

But forreal. what is wrong wit u guys. I told myself I wasn't gonna kinkshame nobody but its Time, it rly and truly is Time.

One last point I want to make (as if this isn't long enough already) is the language with which u talk about the cast too. This was said rly well in several posts especially this one that uses that tags ppl tend to use, but i’m gonna elaborate on it a little. I just want to know right now why Anthony (or our lighter skinned and SURE AS HELL THE WHITE cast members) is "sweet precious sunflower child cinnamon biscuit roll wheatgrass turkish delight with sprinkles or some other corny shit <333" while daveed is AUTOMATICALLY "raw me zaddy" THE FUCK??? Why we gotta go STRAAIGGHTT to zaddy-basis with daveed??? Why do I see y'all talking about his dick size???? Y'all dont do that from the get-go for the lighter skinned members (which is sad bc daveed is already a certified Lightskint™ so that's rly saying something)?? Why can't black actors (and characters) ever be seen as "sweet turnip bumblebees (???)" instead of either being put on an inhuman pedestal where it's "STEP ON ME BAD BITCH QUEEN" or sexualized with some "CHOKE ME YOU COCKSLUT" ???? Ask yourselves why y'all do that. I'll wait.
And y'all don't even TALK about oak (as a quick sidenote okieriete is not that hard of a name to pronounce y'all just don't care to try. It sounds exactly like its spelled) but tbh I don't rly want u to bc you'd just sexualize him as well. Plus that means more for me cause I'm engaged to him too :) remember to save the date!!
This was all over the place and idk if I even said what I was trying to say but whatever. I guess what I'm trying to say is (and this is to white fans) you're stanning a thing full of people of color. im assuming that this is probably the first thing that youve been rly into that has included exclusively people of color. Please just be mindful of the way you talk about them. There's a history of you exotifying and sexualizing poc to the point that historically, people have been killed for??? There's a history behind y'all calling latinx folks "papi" and automatically assuming black folks got a big dick ok lmao. At the end of the day, the way you talk about them shows that you don't rly respect them as much as you claim to do??? Idk I wish I had made notes about this bc it sounded waaaaaaayyy better in my head but! Whatever it's still lit. s/o to @aaronsburrr for assistance!

musicboxbunny  asked:

What, in your opinion, makes Tangled a better story than Frozen? I love both, but I'm interested to read your thoughts.

OK, so this is a huge can of worms, but I guess now is as good a time as any to address this. This is all just my opinion and you do not need to attack me for having it, OK? OK.

  • The supporting characters in Frozen are so flat compared to the characters in Tangled. Anna and Elsa’s parents are so unlikable and we don’t even know them. But Rapunzel’s parents can make me cry without saying a word. More importantly, we know nothing about Kristoff. We don’t even get a little backstory bio, just little implications  here and there and then we’re supposed to be happy he ends up with Anna at the end. And even worse are those stupid trolls. The movie would’ve been 50% better just by removing them. They were unlikable and annoying at best, manipulative and controlling at worst. Even Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Hans never really come to life for me - they always feel like animated characters. Whereas, watching Tangled, it’s easy for me to forget that Rapunzel, Flynn, and Mother Gothel aren’t real people.
  • The story feels muddled all the way through. Tangled weaves this intricate plot with the lanterns, the chance meeting, the deal between Rapunzel and Flynn, the lost princess twist. It’s not perfect - the deus ex machina involving the magic suns that are in all of Rapunzel’s paintings is not good - but it’s still well done. The story in Frozen just feels thrown together. Why is the Duke there? A red herring villain, OK, but that’s not enough. I feel like every twist and turn in Tangled has a purpose, but in Frozen they just were like, “OK, we need something to happen here or we need someone to fill this space.”
  • This might just be a personal preference, but I wanted a bigger climax. I love the recent twists on true love we’ve seen with Frozen and Brave, but all the ground work was there for someone to have powers that rival Elsa’s - either fire powers from Hans or some kind of spring/summer powers from Anna. This just felt like a huge missed opportunity.
  • I always lay out my arguments against Frozen and then finish it up with, “Except I love Elsa’s character and the soundtrack is fantastic.” I stand by the first. Elsa is amazing for so many reasons. But the soundtrack is… I mean, it’s good. I love “Love is an Open Door,” and obviously “Let It Go.” But I hate the gimmicks of “Do You Wanna Build A Snowman?” “Frozen Heart” promises an authentic, Norwegian-inspired sound that is immediately thereafter abandoned. “In Summer” is cute, I guess. “Fixer-Upper” has a terrible message, and as much as you might want to fight against it and say I’m reading the lyrics wrong and that it’s really about Elsa and all that, that’s great, but the terrible message is still sitting right there on the surface and that’s not good. I loathe ”Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People” because it’s so hokey and has to follow such an inspired song as “Let It Go” and totally kill the mood when listening to the music. And while I enjoy singing along to “For the First Time in Forever,” I can’t stand how contrived Anna’s lyrics are while singing about being gassy and wanting to stuff her face full of chocolate. Others find it endearing, and that’s fine, but it just feels forced to me. I love everything about the Tangled soundtrack, even if Mandy Moore’s singing is a little breathy. “Mother Knows Best” is perfect, and I love “I See the Light” so much.
  • My biggest qualm of all: the sloppy animation. Guys, it’s… it’s so, so bad. I’m not even talking about Elsa’s hair phasing through her arm, I couldn’t give a crap about that. It’s the expressions and the animation of the characters, the emptiness in the Arendelle architecture and background characters. So much care was put into designing the world of Tangled and its beauty. Years were spent specifically building a look for the film, crafting its feel and its world and its inhabitants, and that work shows. It’s a beautiful film. I read somewhere that they put effort into making it so that you could freeze the movie at any given shot, and you’d be able to put a picture frame on that shot and hang it on a wall as a piece of art. And I think that’s true. Have you ever tried to find a derpy picture of Rapunzel? It’s really hard. You have to catch her mid-blink or something. That’s just not there in Frozen. Elsa’s expressions are all over the place, even in “Let It Go.” You don’t even have to pause it to see her face stretch awkwardly and out of place. And this is everywhere in the movie. Another big place you can see it is when Anna punches Hans. His face retracts like rubber or something. If this happened in Tangled, the animators would have looked at the way a human face reacts to a punch and would’ve carefully recreated that. In Frozen, we just invert his face like Play-Doh.

This doesn’t even touch my love for The Snow Queen, and how great it would have been to have a female hero rescuing a dude in distress… There are plenty of fairy tales about sister, let’s use those for this, and use The Snow Queen as it is. But that’s… most of it. Once again this is just my opinion, you’re allowed to disagree, and you’re also allowed to refrain yourself from attacking me for disliking an animated movie, please please please. Thanks.

Someday you're going to have to write something on Will's characterization in S2, in which you defend his likability and elaborate on his emotional transparency, plus (if you're doing a criticism of Hannibal criticism) you might discuss the adverse fan reaction and the reasons behind it. My ulterior motive in requesting this is I'll probably disagree with you! (At least in part.) But I'd love to read your take, and I think it could be a very productive conversation.

(Putting under a cut because—HAHA, IT’S US—and I might as well plan ahead.)

A fair number of redraws/redesigns of characters from an old project.  Some overhauls are more drastic than others. (Please full view!)

From L->R on each row: 2008, 2012, 2015

1st Row (Messenger): In my opinion, a pretty significant personality overhaul despite maintaining the same plot/setting purpose and respective baggage that comes with it.  Pretty much only the basic wing elements remained. Wowzas. Also much more attractive. cough

2nd Row (Guardian): Probably the most natural progression of design, I think I conveyed the fighter base much more with this because at some point I learned about muscles.  I guess being a lady now is the biggest change.

Also lol that I guess the two swapped which direction their cloth went XP

3rd Row (Forest Spirit): Oh my god this fucking design, what was I thinking in 2008 and 2012??  Since this one was supposed to be a forest spirit, I extracted and exaggerated an unfamiliar shape from a flower. (You can see the flower in the sketches.)

Final Row is “The Walking God” and is the namesake of a project.  Honestly I just put it in this set because I want to share it but don’t have enough other art from that set to warrant its own post.

EDIT: Since I’ve decided to use this as my Yuri Game Jam premise, I’m retroactively tagging it as such. (Title is also Heavenseed)
