Unspoken rule

A little late to the party but here I am!

A million thanks to @bathtimefunduck for beta reading this.

You don’t mess with Lex Luthor’s group. That’s the rule. Everyone at Hogwarts knows that.

Everyone knows that they rule the school. They are powerful, smart, and liked by the teachers. Since most of them were in seventh year and had to study for their NEWTs, that meant a lot of students kept away from the library in fear of getting on their bad side. But that fear of Lex’s reputation didn’t seem to extend to his own family.

“Hey Lex, isn’t that your little sister?” Max asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Hey yeah, what is she doing with those freaks?” frowned Rick

Lex turned to look at the table they were pointing at and saw Lena sitting with five other kids of all houses.

That in itself wasn’t so unusual. The Luthor family believed in extending their reach as far as they could, and that was reflected in Lex’s own group of followers. After all, Max was in Ravenclaw, Rick in Hufflepuff, Leslie Willis and Siobhan Smythe were both on Gryffindor, and finally, Lex himself was in Slytherin, just like every Luthor had ever been, Lena included.

What was weird about Lena’s apparent group was that the kids seemed to be from different years, not just different houses, and the range seemed wide. Lex’s only follower who wasn’t in seventh year was Rick, who was in sixth, so Lena’s companions tickled his curiosity.

“Any idea who they are ladies?” he asked.

He knew that Gryffindor’s top bitches, and more importantly, ruthless gossips, Leslie and Siobhan would probably be able to tell him something about them. He wasn’t wrong; the two girls quickly started trying to one-up each other to see who could give him more information.

“That Ravenclaw boy is Winn Schott, he’s a pureblood but his father is in Azkaban for being a blood purist and attacking mudbloods. He’s also the only other second year there other than Lena,” Leslie said.

“The two older girls are in fourth year. The Hufflepuff is Maggie Sawyer, she’s a mudblood, and she’s dating the other Slytherin girl. Alex Danvers is a pureblood, her father was an Unspeakable for the Ministry, and her mother is a famous Potions Master. Alex herself is the most promising Slytherin since you, and she has the best marks in her year, although she’s closely followed by Sawyer,” added Siobhan.

“The two Gryffindors are firsties. Kara Danvers is a mudblood that was adopted by the Danvers recently. No one knows where she came from. I don’t know who the other kid is.”

“That kid is Adrian Rodriguez, mudblood too, and he knew Sawyer before Hogwarts. Something happened at the beginning of the year when he tried to follow Danvers Jr. up to the girls’ dorm rooms and the tower wouldn’t let him up, but I don’t really know the details. I do know he looks up to Sawyer and she considers him sort of a brother,” finished Leslie.

“Okay, anything else ladies? No? …what is it Rick?”

Rick suddenly looked excited, and he gave the two Gryffindors a smug look. “I know something you don’t!”

The girls glared at him, but Lex urged him to continue.

“Okay so, I used to live in the same town as the Danvers, and I was there when the little one showed up. And rumor has it, she’s related to Clark! You remember him right Lex? That older Gryffindor who was always getting in your way for everything till he graduated two years ago?”

“Yes, I remember him,” Lex said angrily, thinking back to his old rival. He turned back to his sister’s table and saw that the two fourth year girls seemed to be leaving in a rush. He turned his attention back to the little blonde girl. “So you’re saying she’s related to Kent? How so?”

“She’s his cousin, apparently.”

“Really now? How do you guys feel about going over there and introducing ourselves to my sister’s friends huh?”

They shared knowing looks and headed for the table with the four remaining kids.

Alex and Maggie hadn’t meant to be gone for long. In fact, they hadn’t even been gone for more than 20 minutes. They had seen Professor J’onzz leave the library and ran out to ask him to let them pair up for next week’s DADA teamwork exercise (“we don’t do well with partners, but I think we make a pretty good team”). On their way back to the library they had gotten a little sidetracked staring at each other, and that had led to some making out in an empty classroom. Eventually though, they started heading back to help their little siblings and their new friends with a transfiguration exercise that Kara and Adrian were having trouble with, and a charms essay that was baffling the second years.

Maggie opened the door to the library and nearly ran into Rick Malvern.

He shoved her aside and laughed “watch where you’re going mudblood! Hey there, Alex, if you’re ever in the mood for some better company than these freaks, you know where to find me.”

“Move Rick,” said Leslie.

Alex and Maggie shuffled to the side and watched Lex’s whole group leave the library.

“Bye ladies,” Max said, giving them a wink as he left.

Lex and the girls did not bother to look at them.

Once they were gone, Alex and Maggie let out the breaths they had been holding and were turning back towards the library when Maggie suddenly stopped short.

“Wait. Why did Rick say ‘freaks’ as in plural?”

The girls exchanged wide-eyed glances and turned as one to run inside. They went straight for their siblings’ table, but they stopped in their tracks when they saw that every single one of the kids was crying. Even Lena, who was trying to hide her tears to comfort Kara while Winn and Adrian hugged each other next to them. Maggie and Alex both started talking at the same time.

“Are you guys okay?”

“What happened?!”

“Was it Lex?”

“Are you hurt?”

“Why…”

A loud sniff cut them off, and they noticed that Winn was shrinking away from their loud voices. They exchanged another look and sat down.

Maggie hugged both Adrian and Winn and asked softly, “Are any of you hurt?”

They waited until all four of them shook their heads before Alex spoke from where she was wrapped around Kara and Lena. “Can you tell us what happened?”

The younger kids exchanged nervous looks, before Lena took a shaky breath and started explaining. “Lex and his friends, they, they came over and started asking questions. They said they just wanted to get to know my friends better but then they got really rude. They made fun of Winn, and they called Adrian names, and then Lex, he… he…”

“He what?” asked Maggie, trying to hold back her fury and indignation.

This time it was Kara’s small voice that answered, “He told me that I better stay out of his way if I know what’s good for me. And then he started insulting Clark, and then…”

“Kara, Kara calm down,” Alex said, stopping her sister before she could work herself and the others into even more of a panic.

Maggie nodded and said, “We get the picture. Come on, get up. We’re all going to the kitchens for a snack and then you can rest in my common room. You’ll be safe there, the rest of the ‘Puffs won’t let Rick near you, and none of the others ever goes there anyways. That all right with you?”

She received nods from Kara, Adrian and Winn, but Lena looked hesitant.

Alex, sitting right next to her, noticed and asked, “what is it Lena?”

Lena looked up at her with wide, scared eyes and whispered, “But it was my fault…”

Kara practically jumped up at that and said, “No it wasn’t! Lex came for me! If anything it’s my fault for bringing attention to the rest of you guys!”

“This was no one’s fault but Lex’s,” Alex interrupted firmly. “It was Lex and Max and Leslie and all of them, they are the problem.”

Maggie quickly nodded her agreement, but instead of commenting further, she got up and helped the boys stand.

“Come on, you’ll feel better after some hot chocolate. All of you will,” she said, looking warmly at Lena.

The group went to the kitchens, where the house elves loaded them with a mountain of snacks and a silver tray with never ending cups and hot chocolate. After that they headed for the Hufflepuff common room, where they went straight for the warmest, coziest corner, and settled on the couches. A few other ‘Puffs gave them curious looks, but a firm glare from Alex kept them away.

All of them except for James Olsen, a fifth year who was good friends with Maggie, and who approached the fourth years looking concerned. “What happened?”

“Lex and his gang happened,” answered Maggie.

“What did those idiots do this time?” asked a new voice behind James.

The three of them turned around and saw Lucy Lane, James’ sixth year Gryffindor girlfriend.

“Are they seriously picking on first and second years now? How low can they get?”

“Way too low apparently” Alex said darkly. She looked up and locked eyes with Maggie. She subtly pointed at James and Lucy with her head, and Maggie nodded slightly. Then she turned towards the older couple and asked “Hey guys, do you mind staying with the kids for a bit? We need to go back to the library for a minute. With everything that happened, Maggie and I didn’t have time to check out a book we need for our potions essay and we don’t want to leave them alone.”

“A book? Really?” asked James with an arched brow.

“Yup, a book. We really need it or Slughorn is gonna fail us,” Maggie jumped in to say.

“Seriously Sawyer? Danvers here is the kid of a potions master,” said Lucy, unconvinced.

“Ugh, don’t remind me. That only means that the teachers have higher expectations of me than they have of the rest of the class. If we do anything other than perfect he’s gonna fail us, or worse, my mom will find out!”

“You need to sort out your priorities.”

“You clearly don’t know my mom.”

“OKAY, let’s get back on track. Guys, we’re really just getting a book. Can you watch the kids or not?”

“Yeah, sure. Go. We won’t let anything else happen to them. You are really just getting a book right?” asked James, still unconvinced.

“Yes.”

“Of course.”

“Fine. Don’t take too long!”

“Yeah, okay.”

“Thanks guys.”

Alex and Maggie left. Upon exiting the room, they turned to share a look.

“We are not going to get a book are we?”

“Of course not.”

“I just want to point out that they’re five seventh years and we’re just two fourth years.”

“Technically, Rick is a sixth year”

“You know what I mean”

“You don’t have to come with me you know?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. We’re ride or die, Danvers.”

Finding Lex’s gang hadn’t been hard. Back when she was a first year, muggleborn Maggie had been captivated by everything at Hogwarts. She had always been polite and nice to the portraits, the ghosts, the suits of armor, the owls, and anything else that seemed even remotely sentient. (“They may seem different from us, but who am I to say that they’re too different? Is there even such a thing as too different?”) Because of that, she had a lot of unusual friends in the castle. Alex privately thought that the castle itself liked her (and how could it not? She was smart, tough, and so, so beautiful). It only took a few minutes of asking around to find out that Lex and his friends were in an empty classroom in the third floor. Luckily there was a portrait in the room that agreed to tell the girls where every older student was, and what they were doing. With that, the two girls made a plan and got ready to bust in and take as many of them out as they could.

“Last chance to back down Danvers. Are you sure?”

“Let’s do this. I’m okay if you are”

“Nobody touches my family”

“My thoughts exactly”

“On three?”

“One, two…”

At that exact moment, Mr. Filch was walking down another corridor in the same floor. When he heard a loud explosion, he brandished his broom like a weapon and ran towards the noise that was steadily growing louder. He saw smoke coming from a door at the end of the corridor, and in anticipation to catch a few students red-handed, he charged right in. what he saw in there was pure chaos. Spells and debris were flying everywhere, two girls were crouched down behind an upturned desk, shooting spells and hexes at two older boys and a girl that had taken cover on the other side of the room. Two more older students were sprawled on the floor not moving. As he watched, one of the young girls, a Hufflepuff based on her tie, started trading spells with the two other boys and turned her back on the older girl. The Gryffindor immediately sent a spell at her back.

However, just as Filch was starting to shake his broom and yell for them to “STOP THIS NONSENSE IMMEDIATELY…” the other young girl deflected the spell coming at her friend’s back and unintentionally redirected it at Filch.

The last thing he saw was a flash of red light before everything went black.

It didn’t take long for the story to make its way around Hogwarts rumor mill. By the next day, poor Kara was absolutely frantic, and she ran to find James hoping to get some answers.

“Madam Pomfrey won’t let me see Alex!”

“Kara, what are you talking about?”

“Haven’t you heard? Two fourth years attacked four seventh years and a sixth year, and all seven students plus Mr. Filch ended up on the hospital wing. Nearly-headless Nick says a Hufflepuff and a Slytherin were the most injured, and they’re still in the hospital!”

“Okay Kara, calm down…”

“Don’t you tell me to calm down! I need to see my sister!”

“Kara…”

“She was such a dummy! Why would she do something like that!”

“Kara…”

“And Maggie too, they could have gotten seriously hurt! They probably did get seriously hurt! and…”

“Geez little Danvers, nice to know you have such faith in our abilities”

“Not now Maggie. What if they had to be sent to St. Mungo’s and… hold on, MAGGIE?!”

Kara turned around to see both Alex and Maggie walk up to her. Covered in bandages and limping a little, but with huge smiles in their faces.

“What… how… but Nick said…”

“That a Hufflepuff and a Slytherin were still in the hospital wing? Yeah, we may or may not have gone a little hard on Rick and Lex.”

“But… they’re seventh years…”

“Yeah kid, but they messed with our family,” Maggie said.

The story spread like a fire. The fight was something everyone was talking about for days. The rumors kept getting crazier and crazier with every retelling. But one thing was clear:

You don’t mess with Alex and Maggie’s family. That’s the rule. Everyone at Hogwarts knows it.

My parents sat me down when I was like fifteen and they’re like, “I think it’s time to talk about the birds and the bees.” And I was like “I’m on Game of Thrones!” I know everything there is to know and more. I don’t think I need any education there.

An Anon requested Reylo Burlesque Drabble (song is You Know What I mean by Cults https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXeLGCxJwhw)

                                           _________

It’s not enough that Kylo made partner six months ago.

It’s not enough that he can’t remember the last weekend he had off.

Apparently, it’s not even enough that Kylo’s personally logged in over twenty hours this week on this client. No, obviously, none of that commitment matters because he’s been requested to provide the night’s entertainment for Mr. Snoke, to act like a first-year lemming. To sacrifice and serve as a powerful man’s personal concierge in a city that Kylo knows little to nothing about since he’s always laboring while so rarely enjoying any sort of fruiting.

Wedged under anybody else’s thumb was a position that didn’t suit Kylo Ren one bit, and he jerked his earpiece off with a groan.

Cursing under his breath, he yanked his tie loose to alleviate the pressure tightening around his jugular, but it was no good. It wasn’t his neck that he longed to lay his hands on, and so Kylo directed his fingers back through his hair. Messing up the perfectly gelled dark strands until a few hung over his brow, and even that upset him. No matter what he did, there wasn’t enough of him to pick and pull out that would calm the annoyance of being unable to even comfort himself by slamming down a phone after the order he’d received from Snoke’s assistant.

Why are phones too damn expensive to throw around these days?

Aggressively pressing down the intercom button on his desk, Kylo waited. Fingers tapping to time how many seconds it took his assistant Poe to respond as he craved an excuse to yell at anyone, but before he could get to two seconds the buzz came back. “Yes, sir.”

“Damn it,” Kylo growled under his breath.

“Sir?”

“Two questions.”

“Shoot,” his capable assistant answered back.

“How much does it cost for an old-fashioned work phone?”

“Are you asking because you’re angry again that you can’t slam your cell?”

“No,” Kylo indifferently disputed, but the half second pause gave him away. Leaning back in his chair, he positively glared at his ocean view outside as he heard a faint snicker on the end of the line.

Infatuation

Solangelo one-shot, 2,778 words, general audiences. It goes through three casual moments in Will and Nico’s relationship. Set in canon!verse, not-spoilerish. Low-key inspired by a conversation I had with the lovely @ynysafallon, in which we shared some Solangelo headcanons. Hope you enjoy!

I.

The day was exceptionally hot. Perfect for staying inside the Arts & Crafts building or having a picnic under the shadow of some tree. Maybe taking a nap in a hammock. Nico wouldn’t have minded any of those options.

Instead, Chiron thought it was a great idea if they all “enjoyed the beautiful day outside”.

(And of course Will agreed with him.)

“C’mon, it can’t be that bad, Death Boy.” Will said, distracted, while dragging Nico towards the volleyball court. By now, Nico was used to touch, and even welcomed it. It didn’t mean it had stopped feeling electric when Will was the one to do so. Nico was equal parts glad and annoyed by it. “It’s better than wrestling with the Ares cabin.” He motioned to his right with his head, where Clarisse was shoving someone’s head into the dirt.

“I could kick her ass.” Nico informed him.

“Volleyball is better. Besides, Jason is the one who invited us to play. And Piper.” He said as they entered the court. That caught Nico’s attention. His friends were visiting for the weekend. Nico had no particular interest for sports, but it was only fair that he spent more time with them, even if this was what they wanted to do.

He sighed. “Fine. But don’t we need more people? Say, six on each team?” He reminded Will, who shrugged.

“Not beach volleyball, no.”

“Nico! You actually came!” Jason yelled from the other side of the court, delighted. He started to run to the newcomers while Piper stayed behind, observing them as if confident they would go down.

“Yep.”

“Listen, I already talked to Piper and everything, and you can totally be on my team.” Jason offered, his hands in fists. He looked as if he’d start bouncing with excitement at any moment.

“Oh, um… Nice, but listen…” Nico started, then paused, thinking about how best to reject the offer. “Um, do you mind if I stay with Will, this once? I mean, you have Piper, right?” It sounded ruder than in his head, but now it was late to take it back. Jason didn’t seem offended, though. Only surprised, his eyes wide and taken aback posture. He glanced between Will — who was absentmindedly stretching beside the son of Hades — and Nico as if just realizing something.

Nico scrunched his eyebrows, thinking back to what he said and not finding anything shocking at all. What could he—

Oh.

Oh, wait.

You have Piper…

As I have Will.

Not like that, Jason.” He hissed, clenching his hands in tight fists.

“Right.”

“I mean it.”

“I didn’t say anything.”

“You thought, and… you’re wrong. We’re just friends.” He muttered the last part.

“Okay. Okay, right.” Jason said, lifting his open palms in a defensive posture while walking backwards. However, his expression was amused. His eyes gleamed in a way that said he was probably thinking about his best man speech for Nico and Will’s wedding. He winked and gave Nico thumbs-up.

The son of Hades considered himself to be relatively polite, but right then he felt tempted to flip him off.

For his contentment, Jason tripped on his own feet and fell on his butt on the sand. Will breathed out a laughter beside him.

“Serves him right.” Nico mumbled, still too annoyed to even smirk. It wasn’t like that.

(Which didn’t mean Nico didn’t daydreamed about how it would be.)

(But that was completely normal.)

(…Gods, he needed a break.)

“Okay. What was that about?” Will asked after a moment of silence between them. Nico gathered up courage and looked up at the other boy, but he didn’t need to worry; Will wasn’t looking at him. He was instead glancing at Piper and Jason, who was saying something to his girlfriend. He was frowning, confused, and there was something unreadable in his eyes that Nico wasn’t sure he wanted to decipher. It seemed… sad. It looked wrong in the healer’s face.

“Nothing.” He said too quickly, which brought Will’s attention back to him. Will’s look was searching, and Nico instinctively tried to make his expression neutral. It was a stupid tactic, of course. His face looked annoyed per usual, and trying to make it blank tended to make Will see right through him.

It wasn’t different this time, although Nico wasn’t sure what the healer had found in his face to make him smile that brightly. Gone was the undecipherable look in his eyes, and Nico couldn’t help but feel quite relieved. He felt his heart clench in his chest at the sight of that grin; he should be over it by now, but now and then Will managed to take his breath away again.

“You like me, don’t you?” Will said slowly, testing the words, unsure about them. His smile didn’t falter, though. Instead, his gaze became even more curious as he looked into Nico’s eyes. The son of Hades couldn’t think very straight.

“If I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t be here, you idiot.” He added for good measure, but his voice sounded shaky and nervous nonetheless, and Will threw his head back and laughed, delighted.

“You do.” He sounded almost awed now, and Nico opened his mouth to deny it, but the words never left. He knew the precise moment when he lost control of his expression and let the panic show, because Will’s happiness faltered and his eyes grew serious. “It’s a good thing you like me, because I do like you. A lot. Like, like like you.”

“Are you ten?”

“Nico.”

Will waited, observing as Nico looked away from his gaze and focused on taking deep breaths, as Will had taught him, so as to avoid hyperventilating.

Finally, Nico looked up, his eyes still showing some fear.

“It doesn’t freak you out? Not a tiny bit? I mean… I’m a guy.” His voice was low in the last part.

Will pondered, serious, before answering.

“Hi, A Guy. I’m bisexual.”

“Bi—Oh.”

“Yeah. It doesn’t freak me out.” He suddenly grinned. “Wait, does that mean you really like me, then?”

Nico rolled his eyes and looked away.

“I did, but now I’m reconsidering it.” He mumbled, which made Will laugh.

“Good.”

II.

Were 3-weeks anniversaries supposed to be special? Nico didn’t have a clue, and he didn’t really care. All he knew was that Will let him sleep until 10:30AM (Nico fell in love with him all over again), woke him up with kisses, then dragged him to their making-out spot in the woods, carrying a basket with him. He then proceed to lay out a picnic blanket on the grass and serve the food — sandwiches, strawberry scones, grapes, cocoa balls, and juice. Nico didn’t know where Will had gotten all of that, but he felt so relaxed, so content as Will beamed and rambled on the important of 3-weeks anniversaries, that he didn’t even ask.

After eating, they made out — of course.

It was very good. Nico was very happy. But there was a thought bugging — that stupid voice that dragged him down after the war with Gaia, and still did sometimes. What if Will didn’t think Nico was as invested in this relationship as him? What if he wanted Nico to change, to show more affection in public and call him those annoying couple names? It wasn’t something Nico was comfortable with, and they hadn’t talked about it yet, but Will seemed to know his limits, until now… But still, for how long would he accept them?

“Will,” He broke the kiss, reluctant and breathless, but the voice was irritating him too much. Will glanced down at him with confusion, still a little dazed. “You know I like you, right?”

He hadn’t meant to say that, but Will narrowed his eyes, as if processing those words was a complex task.

“Well, I have to say… I’m glad you’re making out with someone you like instead of, I don’t know, a mortal enemy or some—” He laughed when Nico slapped his arm.

“Stop being an idiot.” He said before he could think about the words, then his smile — he didn’t know he had been smiling; it was amazing that it didn’t hurt anymore — faltered. This was the exact type of behavior that he should avoid. “I mean, I’m sorry. I’m sorry, okay? About the insults and my lack of enthusiasm for… life, in general?” He breathed out, arms still embracing Will’s neck while his boyfriend straddled him on the ground. “I don’t think you’re an idiot. I just… I like our relationship the way it is, all of it, but I’ll understand if, if you don’t—”

“Honey, are you trying to make me leave on our anniversary? Seriously? You have the worst timing ever.”

Nico gave him a look. Will sighed.

“Nico, I know you don’t think I’m an idiot. I know this is your way of being, and guess what? That’s the Nico I fell in love with. My annoying brat friend who can’t pretend to be nice to save his life.”

“Hey! I’ll get you for that.” Nico said, his voice more affectionate than he’d planned. Will ignored that remark, choosing to lean in closer, until he was an inch away from Nico’s earlobe.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way, darling.” His voice was low, and it sent a shiver down Nico’s spine.

“Good.”

III.

Nico didn’t think there was any ideal condition to meet Hades in a pleasant way. This, though, didn’t even reach his low expectations.

They’d needed an army from the Underworld to defeat the giants. And the aid of the five children of the Big Three, along with the other four Heroes of Olympus. And the Greek and Roman armies.

Nico was tired. He was filthy, and thirsty, and felt like lying down and not moving for about three days straight. The children of Apollo were already fussing over those whose had been injured. Will, on the other hand, was using his healing powers on Percy’s poisonous lacerations.

Seeing Will using his powers was both fascinating and horrifying. Fascinating because beautiful golden light was expelled from his fingers in threads, reaching the wound and curing it; and horrifying because Will got visibly weaker after using it — paler, out of breath, trembling. He was much better at it than years ago, in the Battle of Manhattan, but he could still cure about seven people this way without exhausting himself, and Percy was the ninth.

“Stop it, you idiot.” Nico muttered, stepping closer to him. Even in his tired state, his mind computed that Will hadn’t been wounded, and he was relieved.

“This is the last one. Kayla can take care of the rest. I just—” He narrowed his eyes, and the brightness from the healing light vanished as Will stopped making it. He fell on his knees on the floor, panting. Nico knelt beside him in an instant, dropping his sword and embracing his boyfriend instead. He saw Percy give him a thumbs-up, indicating he was already fine, thank you very much.

“It’s okay. You healed them. No one’s dead.” Saying those words felt like a miracle, like a blessing. He would make sure to comfort Will and then help the other healers. He’d like everyone to return to camp safe and sound, for once. He kissed Will’s cheek, murmuring comforting things as his boyfriend hugged him back.

And that’s how Hades found them.

Will was the one who saw him first, and he froze. Nico looked behind his back, and said “oh”. It was a way of describing the situation.

None of them said anything for a while.

Then Nico stood up, helping Will up as well. He gave one look to his boyfriend, who nodded and managed to lift up one side of his lips for a fraction of second, silently giving him permission.

“Thanks for the army, dad.” Nico started.

“No problem. These are just some skeletons I had lying around the place, so.” He shrugged, shifting his glance between Nico, Will, and the ground.

“So… this is my boyfriend, Will. Solace. He is great, really.” He paused, then added, “He’s my best friend.”

The last part sounded somewhat more honest than the rest, even though it was all true. He hoped his attempt of securing a spot in Elysium for Will wasn’t too obvious.

Hades considered this information with a thoughtful expression. He frowned his lips, but seemed only pensive instead of angry or distressed; he scratched his chin.

“Child of Apollo, huh?” He nodded once. “I guess I understand the appeal quite well.” He murmured, glancing to his right. Nico followed his gaze and saw Persephone kneeling down, examining a warrior’s sprained ankle. “The summer… The warmth, can be very welcome to us.” He looked back at them while Nico scrunched his eyebrows.

“Dad, it’s not like that at all.” I mean, sure he liked to cuddle with the ball of warmth he called boyfriend, but that wasn’t relevant. He didn’t date people based on their body temperature. What the actual Zeus?

Hades gave him an amused look, one corner of his lips lifting up, and Nico had the funny impression he’d misunderstood his father’s words.

“I know.” He said, then all the amusement vanished from his face and became a glare the second he turned to his son’s boyfriend. “William Solace.”

Nico felt his boyfriend tense up beside him, but still Will stepped forward — slowly, still not recovered from all that healing —, and knelt down, bowing.

“It’s an honor and a pleasure to finally meet you, sir.” He said. It was clear to anyone hearing him how nervous he was, but he didn’t flinch or backed off. Nico felt a surge of pride and affection in his chest, and he felt like smiling a little.

Hades’ expression changed for a second, bewildered and unsure, and he considered Will with new eyes.

“Well. I hadn’t heard anything like that for a while.” He sounded satisfied, and motioned for Will to stand up, which he did, slowly. Nico walked forward and grabbed his hand, interlacing their fingers, silently supporting him. Will squeezed it once in acknowledgment.

Hades sighed quietly, nodding once again.

“Okay. I won’t interfere. I want to talk to you in private, though.” He pointed at Will.

“Sure.” Will’s voice was tremulous. He was undoubtedly visualizing his fate as an eternity in the Fields of Punishment.

“It doesn’t have to be now. I see you are all suffering the consequences of battle.” He motioned to the drained warriors and healers running with supplies and stretchers. Nico couldn’t feel anyone in immediate danger, though. “I would invite you to dinner,” His voice was uncertain, just like it got when he talked about mortals’ habits. “But then you’d have to stay in the Underworld forever, and I believe you’d like to live a few more years?”

“That would be great.” Will said, his voice low and in a higher pitch than normal. Hades nodded again.

“Meanwhile, keep doing whatever it is that you’re doing to make him happy.” He motioned his head to Nico’s direction. “I see his health is improved.” He commented, and Nico could sense the shift in Will’s posture; how he stood a bit taller, and his voice was no longer tremulous, now that the conversation topic was something health-related.

“He is much better, in all aspects. He’s still stubborn with some things,” Glare at Nico. “But he is headed in the right direction, sir. I assure you that.”

Hades raised his eyebrows, probably taken aback by Will’s sudden boost of confidence, then sent Nico a pointed look.

“Stubborn, huh? We’ll talk about that.”

“Look what you’ve done.” Nico hissed so that only Will heard.

“I have to go now.” Hades said as Persephone appeared beside him, looking tired.

“Ready to go?” She asked, offering her hand. He took it and squeezed it once.

“Sure.” He said gently. He glanced at the boys one last time. “I’ll see you soon. Nico. Will.”

And then he, Persephone, and the hundreds of skeletons in the field disappeared.

Will almost fell on his knees again, relieved.

“I’m alive.” He said as if it was the most unbelievable statement of history. Nico laughed quietly, hugging his boyfriend.

“Of course you’re alive, dummy. I like you, he wouldn’t kill anyone I like.” Then he thought better and frowned. “Probably. Maybe. Okay, you know what? Let’s celebrate your survival.”

Will laughed and hugged Nico back.

“I love you.”

Nico held on tighter.

“I love you too.”

Will smiled a little, still looking exhausted, but happy.

“Good.” He said, and kissed his boyfriend.

Just to make it clear… What Hades meant was people with sunny, warm personalities and auras. Not elevated body temperatures. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!

“Snow” day! School was out because our state can’t handle a single flake, so I went out to take some better quality pictures(:

I need to head to bed, but I’m learning that apparently things happened after G McClaned that dude from the window. Hmm. I guess I got distracted replaying it in my head.

inspireigen  asked:

is food wars good? ive been thinkin bout watching it but i have no idea what its abt like i think i heard its a romance? is it a harem? equal opportunity fanservice sounds intriguing but also too much

im.. im gonna be real and say that its really not all that. like the food is ofcourse gorgeous, but at its core its just a shounen that toes the line between soft fanservice and full blown ecchi. (if you do decide to watch it, keep in mind that the original artist for the manga has literally drawn hentai manga) i wouldn’t say that theres really anything too special about the overall plot, but imo i think the best thing its got going for itself are its characters. they’ve all got their own backstories and you really cant hate most of them (there are some very hateable characters tho but theyre just plain dicks and youre never given a chance to sympathize with them so you can just keep despising them without feeling guilty)

also I just realized that I really haven’t answered your question lol. anyways. i wouldn’t call it romance tbh? like ye theres like… one confirmed character who has a crush on the MC. the MC himself is really more of a loveable idiot whos not always cheerfully optimistic like other shounen protags, but hes still pretty darn thick when it comes to realizing that shes got a crush on him also theres a guy who is pretty much confirmed to have a crush on the MC as well since he and the girl with the crush have a lot of scenes together with the MC where their actions are literally identical and he gets fired up about the MC being his rival which. FOR A SHOUNEN THAT’S PRETTY MUCH THE CONFIRMATION OF A CRUSH.

there are fanservicey moments between the MC (who im gonna start calling soma bc typing out MC everytime is annoying) and the two “main” girls who seem like theyre being set up to be his love interest? that’s if it even ends with romance tho?? but if im being perfectly honest i don’t mind either of the pairings, even if i would much prefer soma to keep a purely platonic relationship with both girls just bc i already ship him with someone else. both girls are heroines in their own right and don’t necessarily need soma to shine, tho his involvement does help move their character arcs along and its ultimately leading them to being the best version of themselves that they can be.

as for the fanservice, i say that its equal opportunity but what i really mean is that it doesn’t shy away from stripping the guys of their clothing. (i feel like for any other series that would be enough to firmly label it as COMPLETELY equal opportunity, but this is food wars and its in a category all of its own) like i said before, the artist is/was a hentai mangaka and it really shows. in one of the first chapters, a girl eats something with squid (or was it octopus??) and her reaction to it was so extreme that the art depicted her in a scene that wouldn’t be out of place in an actual hentai manga. not all of the reactions from the girls is that extreme, but you can almost always expect to have their tops ripped off and their arms crossing over their chests in convenient places, as well as a lot of blushing and their entire body language screaming “I-I can’t believe its this good…!! W-why is my body reacting l-like this…?!” the guys basically just get their clothes ripped off. like.. ye some of them do get to make a near ahegao  face like the girls do, but its usually by one off characters who don’t serve that much importance in the story and thus aren’t drawn nearly as attractively as the other guys are. what you can expect as standard fare from the super important guy characters (meaning theyre the hot ones) is for them to be completely naked with modesty whited out areas as their clothes are ripped from their bodies and they look super shocked. they don’t even blush which is really :/ in my books

also that’s another thing. nearly everyone is super hot. the main cast is filled with A+ people when it comes to looks and they just look better and better as the series progresses bc the artists’s style gets better and more refined. plus, the fact that they did hentai stuff means that everyone has super nice body proportions that don’t look bad and actually make sense? aaaand (this relates more to everyone being hot) another pro for the artist having that experience is that they know how to make someone look *very* good.

I love how everyone pre-2x07 was like “If Bughead don’t have sex I’m gonna be so mad!” And now everyone is just freaking out about how good the show was. The styling?? The format??????? I loved it so much ajsjwjhshsjsj yes obviously nothing is perfect but this was BY FAR MY FAVORITE EPISODE.

There was almost no romance, which I know some of you are upset about, but don’t you think it’s kind of refreshing? The promo for next week is literally the sexiest thing ever, so we most definitely have got some Hot Stuff in store.

I for one absolutely loved the whole mystery thing with those crazy plot twists (yeah ok the McKeller thing was a bit predictable— but WHO SAW STALKER CHERYL COMING!? Not me dude)

I’M REALLY LOVING RIVERDALE RIGHT NOW. IS THIS SHOW EVEN RIVERDALE????????? I’M CONVINCED SEASON 2 IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT SHOW.

(Ohhh my God I forgot to mention—THE DEER!? THE OBVIOUS WITCHCRAFT REFERENCE???? WE’RE BEING INTRODUCED TO SABRINA’S WITCHY WORLD OF GREENDALE, EVERYONE.)
